--------------------------------------------------------------------------- TraxWeekly News - October 4th, 1996 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I can hear you groaning. "What's this? Where's my issue of TraxWeekly?! I demand answers, NOW!" TraxWeekly Issue 73 is currently sitting idle on my computer in my room, with no outside connections to speak of. Thanks to the brilliance of the local phone company, and the beaureaucracy of the utilities company, I am currently on hold, waiting for their specialists to dig up the front yard, label all their thingamajigs and doohickies that are in the ground, then grant special permission for the phone company to repair one certain cable buried in there somewhere. In the meantime, I'm stranded. On the high seas of the information age, and I don't even have an inner tube... I'd love to release the latest issue, I really do. Unfortunately, as a result of hundreds of new students activating email accounts, browsing the net, and learning to use the computer, I don't have access to a computer with a disk drive even to upload the latest issue. What you are reading was written in MSDOS edit.com. It was the transferred via floppy disk by a friend to his computer 100km from school, then emailed to my school account. After mailing it to my account for TW, I telnetted to my account with an X-terminal, and after suffering massive indignities from lag, finally was able to send this damned thing out. I'm sitting by my self in the 24-hour xterm lab, it's near midnight, and I don't have the ability to do anything coherent... TraxWeekly is not an issue for yet another week. How long will this continue? Hopefully, this is the last delay... NEWS: the #trax page has moved from www.datex.ca/trax to www.spaz.com/trax. b0b, the maintaner of this page, has added a password function so that those of you with a listing under #trax - people can edit your stats. The page is looking very nice right now, so I encourage you to go check it out. Until next week (I hope)...
