Hi GUS musicians! Forgive me if this has been asked before but has anyone got the Miracle Piano Tutor (DOS Version) working with just the gus (no additional soundcard or MPU401 adaptor? The installation program for it lets me select from MPU401, Soundblaster or Prosound Audio midi interface cards. If I choose MPU401 and run MEGAEM the Miracle Tutor plays its general midi sounds but does not respond to my external midi keyboard and to use the pogram as per its design it needs to read MIDI in signals to find out if the student is making mistakes. I have a gus version 3.7, version 4.11 of the Gravis Install disks. MIDI in and out are working fine under windows , and at least MIDI in is just fine under dos with programs in native mode (like MIDIFIER). I noticed in the readme file for MEGAEM that "the next version" will have MPU401 midi port emulation, so is there a newer version where this has been implimented? Should I use some other emulation like SBOS instead? Any help appreciated. Best regards, Trev +------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Trev Holland | I.N.C. I get that too it I find that very, very annoying and frustrating. Let's see, the last time I was able to use my keyboard using this method was about a week ago. Since then, Win95 locks up on me everytime I turn on the keyboard with a sequencer running. BTW, the Gravis person said "try different DMAs or IRQs"... I remember in the UltraSound MIDI setup, there was a DMA to fill in. What DMA must this be? Same as the GUS Playback or Recording DMA Channel? - -george ------------------------------ End of The GUS Musician's Digest V20 #5 *************************************** To post to tomorrow's digest: To (un)subscribe or get help: To contact a human (last resort): FTP Sites Archive Directories --------- ------------------- Main N.American Site: ftp.orst.edu pub/packages/gravis wuarchive.wustl.edu systems/ibmpc/ultrasound Main Asian Site: nctuccca.edu.tw PC/ultrasound Main European Site: src.doc.ic.ac.uk packages/ultrasound ftp.pwr.wroc.pl pub/ultrasound Main Australian Site: ftp.mpx.com.au /ultrasound/general /ultrasound/submit South African Site: ftp.sun.ac.za /pub/packages/ultrasound Submissions: ftp.orst.edu pub/packages/gravis/submit Newly Validated Files: archive.epas.utoronto.ca pub/pc/ultrasound Mirrors: garbo.uwasa.fi mirror/ultrasound ftp.st.nepean.uws.edu.au pc/ultrasound ftp.luth.se pub/msdos/ultrasound Gopher Sites Menu directory ------------ -------------- Main Site: src.doc.ic.ac.uk packages/ultrasound WWW Pages --------- Main Site: http://www.xmission.com/~grue/gus.html Main European Site: http://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/packages/ultrasound/ Main Australian Site: http://ftp.mpx.com.au/archive/ultrasound/general/ http://ftp.mpx.com.au/archive/ultrasound/submit/ http://ftp.mpx.com.au/gravis.html Mirrors: http://www.st.nepean.uws.edu.au/pub/pc/ultrasound/ GUS Digest Archives: http://gpu.srv.ualberta.ca/~itam/digest.html http://www.student.adelaide.edu.au/~godfathr/gus/gus.html MailServer For Archive Access: Email to Hints: - Get the FAQ from the FTP sites or the request server. - Mail to for info about other GUS related mailing lists (general use, programmers, etc.).
