I have tried to bring some structure into it, but not all books will fit into a single subject. NOTE: I haven't read these books, and the comments are from other people. The latest version of this file can be obtained by ftp from ftp.cs.ruu.nl [131.211.80.17] in pub/MIDI/DOC/bibliography, on the WWW by http://www.cs.ruu.nl/pub/MIDI/DOC/bibliography or by e-mail from mail-server@cs.ruu.nl (send a message with HELP in the body). First off I can't believ that there hasn't been a rash of mail from any of the GUS groups about the Win95 drivers. They just aren't working for me and I can't believe they are working for all of you. Here's my problem. I seem to recall when I was using the Win3.1 drivers under Windows 95 that the MIDI tab in the Multimedia Control Panel had the "Add New Instrument" button enabled. Using the Win95 drivers for the GUS this is enabled. In fact I get no reference to the MIDI output port anywhere. If anyone out there is seeing what I am not, please let me know. Do I need to install ultmport.drv. If so how? Win.ini, sys.ini, registry? My K2000 misses being connected to my GUS. Note I have no GUS drivers installed in config.sys or autoexec.bat. The only GUS related line that is not rem'd out in my autoexec.bat is @SET ULTRADIR=C:\ULTRASND which I need or else Win95 complains on start up (however, the drivers still work). Thanks, Milton toe@shadow.net http://www.shadow.net/~toe/ ------------------------------ From: Miles Lott Date: Wed, 03 Jan 1996 23:14:42 -0600 Subject: Re: Win95/GUS MIDI Adapter At 08:32 PM 1/3/96 -0500, toe@shadow.net wrote: >Here's my problem. I don't see any way to do it either. Not from Cakewalk or Media Player, anyway. It seems external port may be defined by an Instrument Definition File at best, and if at all with the current driver version. >From the "Known Problems" section of the Readme: 2) These drivers do not come with their own midi map configuration. If you are presented a choice between Ultrasound MIDI Synth and MIDI Mapper, choose Ultrasound MIDI Synth, or create your own MIDI Map. But how do we do that, Gravis? Miles Lott A.A.S.
