Hmmm, sounds like maybe your Fast Tracker is not acknowledging MIDI note off messages. That way, it would still think you were holding the key down and would not re trigger the note sample. To Tuomas Koskela: you asked where that value-critical resistor was located. It's in the midi interface between the power supply (+5V) and the secondary side of the opto-coupler. For more info you can take a closer look at the attached scheme! After i've read your reaction to my story i asked myself: is the timing of the midi-out signals influenced by the timing of the signals on the ISA-bus? I don't know yet. Can someone give me a scheme on the MIDI input/output part of the GUS or even the whole GUS, or of a generic MIDI input/output card, please? With that information i perhaps could tell you some more on this topic. To Marx nazarko@andante.ae.katowice.pl: See the attached coreldraw 3.0 file for the complete scheme of the midi interface i'm using myself. Due to the production-tolerances of the optocoupler i cannot give one correct value for the total resistor value in the yellow spot. If you have an oscilloscope you can supply a 31 kHz TTL-value square wave at the input, and adjust the resistor so that the output waveform is a fair good copy of the input. Another possibility is: using a midi master keyboard and trim the resistor until the notes are reliably recieved. I used both methods successfully. Please notify if something goes wrong with the attachment, or if you cannot read the file. I don't know how it is handled by the listserver! It's easy enough to see if it's getting key off messages - check the patterndata for note-off's.
