Freeware Licensing Terms

Pixelab, Inc, the copyright owner of the XXCOPY software package,

grants a non-exclusive license without charge to an individual

who intends to use the XXCOPY program for non-commercial purposes.



You may use XXCOPY under this freeware license if:



 1.  you install the XXCOPY program on a computer which is your

     own property and you are the primary user of the computer.



 2.  Or, you use XXCOPY in your work at an educational institution,

     or a non-profit organization with less than 100 people working.



 3.  Or, you may use XXCOPY for 60 days for evaluation purposes

     without charge.





If your situation does not qualify for the freeware license,

your usage will be considered to be commercial usage.  Please

see the section on Corporate Site Licensing below.



With a freeware license, you may give your friends a copy of the

XXCOPY package, as long as the package is not altered and remains

as a whole.  However, for distribution on a commercial basis,

you must obtain a written permission from the copyright owner,

Pixelab, Inc.  See the following section on Corporate Site Licensing.



For inclusion of XXCOPY in a Freeware distribution CD-ROM, or

download service, please contact Pixelab for a written permission.. 



We reserve the right to terminate the freeware status in the

future versions of the XXCOPY program.



Please note that Emails from freeware users may not be answered,

due to the large number of Emails we receive.  If you wish to

get technical support by Email, you may consider acquiring the

corporate site licensing even if your usage conforms to the

freeware licensing terms.

The XXCOPY commercial usage license is granted as a Site License

which allows multiple copies of XXCOPY to be used in one place.

The cost of that Site License depends on the number of computers

that will be using XXCOPY.

 Highlights of this release:



   1. The first release version of the the 21th century!!!



   2. "Wild-Wild-Source", the new multi-level multiple-wildcard

      source specifier which greatly enhances the way you can

      express the source.  You can say like

      

        XXCOPY  C:\Windows\*\*cache*\*\img\*.jpg  \mydst\ /S



   3. Alternate file template specifier ("Include") (/IN<template>)

      Now, you may include more than one file templates like:

      

         

        XXCOPY  C:\*.jpg /IN*.gif /IN*.bmp /IN*.mp3  \mydst\ /S 



        This example includes all .JPG, .GIF .BMP, and .MP3 files.



   4. Enhanced exclusion specifier.  Exclusion of directories

      now can be the whole or partial (1-level files, or subdirs)

      with multi-level option.  Total of 11 classes of exclusion

      syntaxes are provided for increased variety in exclusion

      specifier.  Here are examples of what you can say



        /X*\mydir\  /Xmydir\?\*  /Xmydir\*\*.doc  /Xmydir\*\cache\



   

   5. New switches added  /IA /IP /EC /CE  (see XXTB #19).

   

   6. New switch, /DL<n> limits the directory nesting to n levels.



   7. New switch, /SP which allows you to span a backup job over

      multiple removable media (floppy, CD-R)..



 Highlights of recent releases:



   8. Detects Adaptec's DirectCD drive to automatically disable

      the shortname-preservation feature (due to incompatible

      shortname synthesis by the file system, it is not possible

      to preserve the shortname) (/NX0 automatically added)



   9. /CK/CK0 controls the pre-check of remaining space on the drive.
