Barrow, Alaska, 1969 Photograph by George F. Mobley "Midday sunglow
casts an eerie pallor over snow-blanketed Barrow, the northern-most
town in Alaska. Living 335 miles [539 kilometers] above the Arctic
Circle, theresidents of the predominately Eskimo settlement do not see
the sun from late November until late January."
