Religious beliefs are strong along the Texas-Mexican border. The influx of U.S. business taking advantage of cheap production costs has left most of the Mexican side squalid, polluted, and increasingly impoverished. Everlasting faith helps keep spirits high and a relative amount of optimism a possibility in these conditions.
