Where Spatsizi Park, Canada
When 1981
Photographer Sam Abell

"Moonglow bathes a caribou rack and skull in Spatsizi Park. Because Canada's thousands of caribou shed their horns each year, the north seems to sprout abandoned antlers everywhere. The attached partial skull indicates this animal lost its life—perhaps to old age, disease, or a predatory grizzly."

—From the National Geographic book Canada's Wilderness Lands, 1982
