I. Intro:
**********

Earthbound was a very unique game on the Super Nintendo. Although it was an
RPG, it was not typical of any other RPG. Instead of a Fantasy setting, this
game took place in a contemporary time. The main characters were small
children instead of typical heroes. Even the enemies and story were much
more lighthearted and funny than a normal RPG. Some people thought the game
stunk, because of its simple, cartoony graphics, but these seemed to fit well
into the rest of the game. Well anyways, hope you enjoy and find this FAQ
useful!

III. THE WALKTHROUGH
*********************

NOTE: Although in Earthbound you can name the characters anything you want,
this walkthrough refers to them with their default names. This means the
main character is Ness, the girl is Paula, the guy with glasses is Jeff, and
the martial artist is Poo.

1. The Meteorite Crash
Goods: Bread roll, cracked bat

A noise wakes up Ness. Talk to your family, but don't forget to pick up
the cracked bat in Tracy's room. Head up the hill to the meteor. Talk to
the people and police you meet along the way. You can go next door if you
want, but it isn't necessary. On the way up, pick up the items you find in
presents. The road will eventually lead to Pokey and a dead end. Nothing
left to do but head home.

2. Where's Picky?
Goods: Cookie, Sound Stone

Ness gets woken up again, this time by Pokey, who tells you his brother is
missing. Along with your dog, the two of you must go back to the meteor,
only now there will be enemies. Don't expect any help from Pokey though!
When you reach the meteor, your dog will leave, and Picky will join you.
Suddenly, a bee pops out of the meteor. It is the superhero Buzz Buzz from
the future, who will tell you of your destiny before joining you. On the way
back home, you will be met by Starman Jr.

Boss: Starman Jr. HP: 200
How to beat: You basically don't have to do anything. Buzz Buzz will protect
you with Psi Shield, which will block Starman's attacks. He also does a lot
of damage to Starman as well.

When you take Picky and Pokey home, their mom will kill Buzz Buzz. (Some
superhero. He can defeat aliens, but gets killed by a fat woman!) Before he
dies, he will give you the sound stone. Now that dawn has broke, your
Adventure truly starts. In front of you house, the photo man will take your
first picture. Remember, at you house, your mom heals you, and your sister
can store items for you.

3. Out & About in Onett
Goods: Town Map, Mr. Baseball cap, Hamburger, Can of Fruit Juice, Key to
Shack

If you talked to the treasure hunter near the meteorite, he will tell you
to come back alone. Go there now to see his find. Remember this, it will
come into the story later on. Your first stop in Onett should be the
library. You will get the town map, and, by talking to people, learn the
basics of the game. Next, go to the hideout, which is directly north of the
library, hidden in the trees. Talk to your friends to receive Mr. Baseball
Cap (don't forget to equip it). If you go to Giant's Step, it will be
locked. Seems like you'll have to do the Mayor a favor before you can unlock
it. While in Onett, dig through trashcans to find food (sick, but useful).
The people dressed in black are Sharks, and will attack you. If they call
for help, the battle may become difficult, but you should fight them for
money and experience. Make sure you buy the best equipment from the
drugstore, and food (burgers are useful) before venturing into the arcade.
Once in the Arcade, head out back to meet Frank.

Boss: Frank HP: 63
How to beat: To make this battle easier, you may want to wait until you learn
Psi Rockin alpha, but this is not necessary. Just keep attacking, and heal
when necessary. Don't waste all of you PP or items, though, because
immediately after, you have to fight..

Boss: Frankystein Mark II HP: 90
How to beat: Like Frank, Psi Rockin makes it easier, but is not necessary.
Just keep attacking with Bash to win. Eat Hamburgers or use Psi Lifeup if
your HP gets too low.

After beating Franky, you can talk to him to heal. Head to the Mayor's
office to collect the key that opens Giant's Step. After restocking your
food, head there.

4. Giant's Step and leaving Onett
Goods: Traveler's Charm, Skip Sandwich, Cold Remedy

After unlocking the door, talk to the entertainers to receive the
Traveler's Charm. The enemies inside are fairly simple, but watch out for
the Rowdy Mouse, who has a high SMAASH! percentage. Explore the various
rooms on the way up the cave to collect goods. When you get outside for a
while, use Psi Lifeup before getting the magic butterfly. When you get to
the end of the cave, talk to the glowing star to fight the first of the
Sanctuary guardians.

Boss: Titanic Ant & Black Antoids HP:235 (34 for the Antoids)
How to beat: If you have plenty of healing items, don't worry about using all
of your PP on Psi Rockin. The first blast of this should kill the two Black
Antoids, so you can concentrate of the Titanic Ant.

When you leave Giant's Step, you will be met by a cop. After stocking up,
follow him to the police station. Once there, say that you want to go to
Twoson. You must fight 4 cops in secession, and then their leader, Captain
Strong.

Boss: Cop HP: 75
How to beat: Very Easy. Just Bash, and eat a hamburger when your life gets
low.

Boss: Captain Strong HP: 140
How to beat: Not as strong as his name sounds, but can still be pretty tough.
Attack with Psi Rockin and bash, and heal with food or Psi Lifeup when you
need to. He has several strong attacks, so watch your HP meter. 2 or 3
blasts of Psi Rockin should finish him.

After beating the police, the road to Twoson will open. Before leaving
Onett, make sure you explore every building and talk to everyone if you have
not done so already to gain info. If you call your Mom, you can get the
phone number for your sister's company, Escargo Express. They work as a
storage company, and can deliver and pick up goods for you almost anywhere.
The hint shop will sell you hints, and are located in various towns.
Incidentally, you can buy the house for sale once you get enough money
($7500). Inside is a place were the photo man comes, and a magazine which
you might find amusing. Finally, if you sleep after beating Giant's Step,
you will receive a message from Paula.

5. The Road to Twoson
Goods: Exit Mouse, Hamburger

On the way to Twoson, stop by the small house to pick up an exit mouse,
which will help you in dungeons. If an Evil Mushroom causes a mushroom to
grow on your head, your controls will become screwed up. Talk to the healer
in a hospital to have it taken off of you.

6. Out & About in Twoson
Goods: Bicycle, Teddy Bear, Suporma, Receiver Phone, Broken Machine

Once in Twoson, you may encounter enemy people for the first time.
They look like normal people, except they have blue faces. In the hotel,
talk to the man on the far left a bunch of times until he gives you $50. Go
to the bike shop for a bike, and get your picture taken in front, all for
free! Make sure to stop by the Dept Store to buy new equipment. While
talking to the citizens, you'll learn that cultists have kidnapped a local
girl with special powers. Go to the preschool to talk to her parents and, if
you want to be a jerk, steal the Teddy Bear out of her room. In this town
live two young scientists, the Apple Kid and Orange Kid. Sponsor both of
them. The Orange Kid will give you the useless Suporma, but the Apple Kid
will be a great help later on. You will also receive the Receiver Phone
after giving money to Apple Kid. If you go to Mach Pizza, you will learn
their phone number. At the Chaos Theater, meet the Runaway Five, a popular
band deep in debt. Finally, go to the bus station to learn about the problem
with ghosts. Whew! After accomplishing all this, go to Burglin Park in the
middle of town.

7. Burglin Park
Goods: For Sale Sign

There are several things to buy here. This is the first time to buy
condiments, which will improve the healing power of your food. Use logic to
decide which ones go with what (for example, use Ketchup with Hamburgers, not
Cocoa). One man will sell you broken items, which are useless until you get
Jeff. Another man will sell his For Sale Sign for $98, which allows you to
sell anywhere. Go to the house on the west side of the park to meet the park
boss, Everdred.

Boss: Everdred
Keep attacking with Psi Rockin. If you're lucky, Everdred will never attack,
and just keep knitting his brow.

After beating Everdred, he will tell you Paula was taken to the Peaceful Rest
Valley, East of Twoson. Go there next to rescue her!

8. Road to Happy Happy Village
Goods: Pencil Eraser, Luck Capsule, Travel Charm, Croissant, Bomb, Hard Hat

Once through the cave at the East of Twoson, you'll come out in the
Peaceful Rest Valley. However, the bridge to the village is out, and a giant
pencil is blocking the only way around. No choice but to go back to Twoson.
If you sponsored the Apple Kid, he will give you a call and give you the
Pencil Eraser in the park. Now you can continue on through the Valley. By
the way, if a mushroom grows on your head, you don't have to go all the way
back to the hospital. Just talk to the mushroom hunting girl to have it
removed. After erasing the pencil, explore the valley for goods. Avoid the
walking trees like the plague as you do, though. When you kill them, they
explode, inflicting massive damage to you. The spinning robots can give you
a cold, so bring some cold remedies, or use Psi Healing. The photo man will
take your picture on the left side of the river, past the bridge.

9. Happy Happy Village
Goods: Picture Postcard, Franklin Badge, Croissant, Skip Sandwich,
 Teddy Bear, Key to Cabin.

When you get to the village, watch out for cultists, who attack you.
If you donate money to the woman near the entrance, she will give you a
postcard. However, I have no idea what to do with these things! Re-equip at
the drugstore. The Refreshing herb is a pretty good buy. Outside, you can
buy eggs and bananas. If you don't want to pay, you don't have to, but the
man behind to tree will fight you. If you buy a bunch of eggs, then let them
grow to chickens, you can make a large profit by selling them.
If you try to talk to Carpainter before seeing Paula, you will be zapped
outside, so go through the cave on the North end of town to find her. She
will give you the Franklin Badge (which can attack ALL electric attacks, not
just Carpainters) and ask you to beat Carpainter. When you get outside, you
will be met by Pokey and some cultists. Beat them up, and go back to town.
Once there go to the big house in the middle of town. Inside are dozens of
cultists blocking your way. Make your way through the maze. At dead ends,
talk to cultists. Those who say different things will either move or
attack. Either way, they'll be out of your way, and you can continue. There
are several gifts, but you might as well wait until after beating Carpainter
to get them. Several of the people who move lead to dead ends, so if you
reach one, just back track and talk to someone else. After getting through
the cultists, go upstairs and talk to Carpainter. When he asks you to join
him, it doesn't matter what he says- he'll attack you either way.

Boss: Carpaitner HP:262
How to Beat: All of his lightning attacks will bounce off the Franklin Badge
and hit him. Just attack with your strongest psi and attacks, and heal if he
takes of too much life.

After beating Carpainter, you will get the key to save Paula from him, so go
save her! When you leave to house, you will meet Pokey again before he runs.
Outside the cabin, the photo man will come. Don't forget to equip Paula in
the drugstore before leaving.

10. Lilliput Steps
Goods: Great Charm, Croissant, Psi Caramel

The second of your sanctuaries, it is located east of Happy Happy
Village. You can go anytime, but it is easier after Paula joins you. The
moles and bats in the cave have the tendency to confuse themselves, which is
good for you. The hardest enemies here are the bears. Since you can sleep
for free in the village, this is a good time to boost Paula's levels. At the
end of the cave, you will fight the Mondo Mole.

Boss: Mondo Mole HP: 498
How to beat: With Ness, use either Psi Rockin or bash. Flash works also.
Make sure to save some PP to heal Paula and protect her with Psi Shield
(Ness', not Paula's). Paula's Psi Thunder does a lot of damage, but doesn't
always hit.

After beating the Mole, most of the enemies will avoid you, so it should be
an easy trip going back.

11. Back to Twoson
Goods: Handaid, Wad of Cash, Backstage Pass

After beating the Lillliput Steps, go back to Twoson. Take Paula to her
parents and go see Everdred, who will give you a big wad of cash. Also, talk
to the Runaway Five and receive a ticket to their show. A Photo will be
taken in front of the theater. After watching the Five's show, talk to themb
in their room. Go see the manager, and give the wad of cash to him to free
the band of their debt. Now released from their contract, the Runaway Five
will give you a lift through the haunted tunnel to Threed.

12. Threed
Goods: Insignificant Item, Skip Sandwich, Teddy Bear, Insecticide Spray

When you get to the next town, some thing seems wrong. Zombies have
taken over, and the citizens are clustered around the tent in the middle of
town. The man behind the Pizza Parlor sells stuff, but mostly for Jeff, whom
you do not know yet. This man will also be in several other areas of the
game, and often sells good stuff. Check the drawer in the hospital room to
gain the Insignificant Item. Once you save Threed from the Zombies, give it
to the man in Twoson's hospital to get a Magic Truffle. After talking to
everyone in town, head to the graveyard. The photo man will come in the
north end of it. Two Zombies block your path to a secret tunnel. After
seeing them, go to the hotel, and follow the strange woman to her room. You
will be ambushed by a bunch of zombies, and captured. Paula will call out to
a new friend, Jeff, to help you.

13. Winters
Goods: Cookies, Key to Lockers, Bad Key Machine, Holmes Hat, Pop Gun,
Broken Air Gun, Bubblegum, Bread Roll, Insecticide Spray, Broken Iron,
Stun Gun, Croissant, Hamburger, Cheap Bracelet, Bottle Rocket, Broken Pipe

Jeff is woken up in his boarding school by Paula's faraway message.
Along with his friend Tony, he must get out of the school to help. Talk to
everyone, but don't open the presents in the next room. Not only is that
mean, but it will clutter up your inventory with almost useless items
(cookies). Talk to Maxwell downstairs to get the key. After testing it on
the lockers, go back to get the bad key Machine. Now you can get some
equipment. Tony will help you over the fense, but will stay behind. The
drugstore next to the school should be your next stop. Since you only have
$2, the only thing you can buy is bubble gum from the woman. Give it to the
monkey, and he'll join you! After leaving the store, make your way south.
The tent on the way will let you heal for free, so this may be a good place
to gain some levels. When you get to the Tessie Watching Club' camp, the
photo man will come. Talk to the cook to receive a message from Paula. When
you leave the tent, the wind will begin to blow. Stand on the brown spot by
the water to ride Tessie to the other side of the lake. When you get to the
dungeon, go through it since you don't have Pencil Eraser. Inside, read the
sign to cause the photoman to come. At the end of the dungeon, talk to Brick
Road to heal. The cave after Brick Road's dungeon is actually one of Ness'
sanctuaries, but you can not use it without Ness, so simply leave. Give the
Monkey some gun at the dead end to let him lower a rope down to you. Once
you get out of the cave near Stonehenge, the monkey will leave your party.
The Cave Boys wandering around Stonehenge are strong, but miss a lot, so you
can get a lot of experience from them. Go to Jeff's Father, Dr. Andonuts, in
his lab to be taken to Threed, where Ness and Paula are waiting. Travel
First Class aboard the Sky Runner!

14. Back to Threed
Goods: Fly Honey, Zombie Paper

After the three characters meet, use the bad key machine to unlock the
door. Talk to the people in town to learn the status of the town, and go
south. There will be a mysterious new tent. Go the the front of it and get
ready to fight!

Boss: Boogey Tent
How to Beat: Use Jeff and Ness to attack. Paula's psi Fire and Thunder work
well. Since Thunder does not always work, fire is probably your best bet.
Since the tent uses defense spray, physical attacks will get weaker as time
goes one.

After the tent is dead, look in the trash can to get Fly Honey. Apple Kid
will call you and give you Zombie Paper now. I'm sure you know what it's
for! Take it to the tent in the middle of town and use it, then go to the
hotel and sleep. When you wake up, all of the zombies will be trapped,
including the ones blocking the secret passage. Before leaving, you can stop
by the tent to talk to the zombies.

15. Road to Saturn Valley
Goods: Skip Sandwich DX, Silver Bracelet, Bomb, Protein Drink, Bottle
Rocket

Explore the tunnel, looking in coffins for goods. At the end of the
secret passage, you will encounter the mini barf.

Boss: Mini Barf
How to Beat: Attack with the guys and use Paula's Psi Fire. He can decrease
your offense, so finish the battle quickly.

After exiting the secret passage, go north to another cave. Go through to
Saturn Valley, home of Mr. Saturn.

16. Saturn Valley
Goods: Rust Promoter, Sudden Guts Pill, Protractor, Broken Can

When you get to Saturn Valley, talk to everyone. You can heal for free
at the hotel and hospital. The item shop sells some good stuff. This is the
first place where you can buy items that bring an injured character back to
life, the Horn of Life. By talking to all of the Mr. Saturn, you will learn
an unusual password.

17. Grapefruit Falls
Goods: Bomb, IQ Capsule, Broken Laser, Calorie Stick, Vital Capsule,
HP Sucker

Travel North of Saturn Valley to the waterfall. Make sure to take the
Fly Honey with you. On the way, the Photo man will come. Walk behind the
falls and to the left as far as you can. When you reach the end, you should
hear a voice asking for the password. Just as Mr. Saturn said, wait there
for three minutes (make sure to clear the message off the screen first).
After three minutes, the door should open, and you can enter Belch's factory.
When you encounter the Slimy Little Pile at the entrance, tell him you have
Fly Honey, or he will attack you. The factory is fairly straightforward.
Make sure to explore all of the doors to find goods in garbage cans. There
is a butterfly in the area with two Mr. Saturns and two Slimy Little Piles,
and another one in an empty room. Use them to refill your PP. At the end of
the Factory, you'll meet Master Belch.

Boss: Master Belch HP: 650
How to Beat: If you don't bring the Fly Honey, you are going to have a hell
of a time trying to beat him. My friend tried fighting him without it, and
wasted every item in his inventory without beating him! Since I'm sure you
did bring it, just use it, and Master Belch can't attack anymore because he
will be too busy eating. Just keep wailing on him!

18. Back to Saturn Valley
Goods: Cup of Lifenoodles, Mr. Saturn Coin, Stag Beetle

The factory leads out to Saturn Valley. Talk to the Mr. Saturn, and drink
a cup of coffee when they offer it to you. The photo man comes near the
coffee table. Now that you can reach the top of Saturn Valley, you can go to
the next of Your Sanctuaries. First, however, talk to one of the Mr. Saturns
in the cave/room. He will give you three items.

19. Milky Well
Goods: Coin of Slumber

Just above the Coffee Table is a cave leading to the third Sanctuary.
The enemies here are mostly types of plants, including stronger mushrooms and
sprouts than the ones you fought before. This is a very short dungeon, so it
should be not a problem. At the end, you will fight:

Boss: Trillionage Sprout HP: 1048 & Tough Mobile Sprouts
How to Beat: Like the Titanic Ant, concentrate on the main boss. The two
smaller enemies should die if you use an area attack. Paula's Fire and
Freeze take off a lot, with fire doing slightly more damage than ice.

20. Threed Again
Goods: None!

After leaving Saturn Valley, return to Threed. It looks a lot different
than when you left! The Photo Man will come in front of the tent. After
talking to everyone, take the bus to Fourside. It will be stuck in traffic,
however, so you will have to get out and walk around the jam through the
desert.

21. Dusty Dunes Desert, and To Fourside
Goods: Double Burger, Cup of Lifenoodles, Contact Lens, Psi Caramel, Sudden
Guts Pill, Big Bottle Rocket, Skip Sandwich DX

There isn't anything you have to do in the desert except talk to the
miners. However, there are many gifts and things to talk to scattered
throughout the desert. If you see the screen flash red, that means that one
of your characters got sunstroke. Use either Psi Heal or a Wet Towel to get
rid of it. The things to look for in the desert are as follows:
The White and Black Sesames look like small dots. Talk to the black one to
make the photo man come. There are also several skeletons and people that
you can talk to. Tallah Ramah and his monkeys live here, but you can't do
anything there yet. By the sign asking for contacts, look for a shiny spot
on the ground to find the contact lens. Give them to a man in the bakery of
Fourside to get a Pair of Dirty Socks. Don't forget to pay a visit to the
miners. Give the one outside some food. The one in the hut will let you
sleep there for free. Near the exit of the desert, you can find the Sanchez
Brothers. (They look like three guys with a slot machine in their stomachs).
Put $1 in the machine next to them to play. The prizes are:

777 = Psi Caramel
Three Yellows = Chick
Three Greens = Fruit Juice
=== = Skip Sandwich.

Past the Desert, on the bridge, the Photo Man will come. While you are still
in the desert, though, look for things that look like small green
caterpillars. They always try to avoid you, but if you catch them, you will
automatically win, and gain a TON of Experience. (Over 10,000). This is a
good place to build up levels. However, avoid the Smiling Spheres, who
explode upon death.

22. Out and About in Fourside
Goods: Pair of Dirty Socks

In Fourside, everyone talks about Mr. Monotoli. Inside the Monotoli
building, you can meet Pokey and his dad, but can do little else. The
Dept. Store in closed at the time, but a man behind it sells broken items for
Jeff. You can also check out the museum, but there is no reason to do so
yet. At the theater, you will find that the Runaway Five is in debt again.
Hmmm how are you going to help them this time? Wasn't there some treasure
hunters in the desert? Why not go there for help!

23. Treasure Hunting
Goods: IQ Capsule, Big Bottle Rocket, Exit Mouse, Croissant, Picnic Lunch,
Guts Capsule, Teddy Bear, Psi Caramel, Super Bomb, Secret Herb, Coin of
Defense, Calorie Stick, Bomb, Luck Capsule, Platinum Band

Back at the mine, there seems to be a problem. Five big moles have taken
over you must search the mine to find them. This is one of the hardest areas
in the game. Not only is it expansive, but many of the enemies poison you,
making you either use up an item, or waste your PP. You may have to make
several trips in and out, resting at the miner's cabin in between. When you
do meet the moles, all five of them say that they are the third strongest of
the bunch. That doesn't seem to make sense but Oh Well! If you see skulls
on the ground, that usually means there is a mole around.

Boss: Guardian Digger
How to Beat: Although they look like the Mole in Lilliput Steps, their
weakness is ice. In fact, one shot of the third Freeze can kill them! Psi
Flash also works against them.

After clearing out the mine, he miners can continue work. Outside, the photo
man will come. Walk back to Fourside. On the way, the miners will give you
a diamond. I'm sure you know what to do with it!

24. Back to Fourside
Goods: Diamond

Back in Fourside, give the diamond to the theater manager to free the
Runaway Five. After the show, the Dept. Store will open. Buy everything you
need, and make your way out. Just make sure Paula isn't holding the
Pencil Eraser. If she is, then you're screwed! While walking to the exit,
the lights will go off, and Paula will be kidnapped! Make your way up to the
office at the top to fight the Dept Store Spook.

Boss: Dept Store Spook HP: 610
How to beat: Without Paula, you won't be able to use her powerful Psi
attacks. If you have some Big Bottle Rockets, use them. You can buy them
from the guy in the storeroom on the second story of the Dept Store.

After fighting the Spook, you will not get Paula back! However, the photo
man will come near the toys.

Some of the people in Fourside have been talking about Monotoli spending time
in the CafT. Go there and talk to everyone inside. When you leave, Everdred
will be lying on the ground. Give the man blocking the way to him something,
and he will move. Talk to Everdred to hear his story. It seems that he
stole the Evil Mani Mani statue from Carpainter, but had it stolen from him
by Monotoli. However, he will tell you to check behind the counter at the
CafT. Do what he says and you will be transported
to a strange, new world

25. Moonside
Goods: Double Burger, Night Pendant, Handbag Strap, Secret Herb

You will end up in a strange opposite Fourside called Moonside. The most
important thing to remember here is that "no" means "yes", and vice verse.
For example, if you want to sleep or something, tell the person who asks
"no". In the middle, Monotoli and the Mani Mani statue lay, but a man blocks
your way. He is looking for the man whose eyebrows connect and who has one
gold tooth. Talk to the blond guys wearing sunglasses to move around town.
Collect items, the most important of which is the Night Pendant. Eventually
(if you keep talking to those guys) you will end up in a room with no doors.
Look for the barely visible guy in the room (he looks like a shadow). When
he asks if you can see him, say "no", which really means "yes". Now talk to
the other guy in the room to leave. The invisible guy will follow you. Talk
to the man blocking the way to Monotoli and he'll leave. Go forward and
fight the Evil Mani Mani.

Boss: Evil Mani Mani HP: 860
How to beat: If he does Paralysis, you won't be able to move. Ness can still
use Psi like this, but Jeff will be almost useless. Keep some herbs handy to
heal him. If it emits a "Glorious Light", you may die. Use Ness' Psi Rockin
and Big Bottle Rockets.

After defeating the Mani Mani, you'll end up back in the Fourside Cafe.
Apple Kid will give you a call, telling you about his latest invention, the
Yogurt Machine. When you leave the building, you will be visited first by a
monkey, who will tell you to meet Tallah Ramah, a delivery man, who will tell
you he lost the Yogurt Machine in the Desert, and, finally, Monotoli's maid,
who will ask you for some Trout Flavored Yogurt.

26. Monkey Land
Goods: Pizza, Wet Towel, Protein Drink, Hamburger, Bag of Dragonite, Ruler,
Flame Pendant, Picnic Lunch, Broken Tube, Neutralizer, Yogurt Machine

This is a very annoying maze. You must give dozens of monkeys various
items to be allowed to pass to find more items and more monkeys. However,
all you need to bring to pass through in one trip is a Skip Sandwich, a
Picnic Lunch, and the Pencil Eraser. There are a few items that you can find
in the cave that are not used for trading purposes. These include the
Dragonite, the Flame Pendant, the Broken Tube, and the Neutralizer. At the
end, you will find a pencil. Use the eraser. Talk to Tallah Ramah to get
the Yogurt Machine, and his monkey will teach you Psi Teleport. It is a very
useful technique that lets you visit any town you've been to instantaneously,
as long as you have a running start. Use it now to return to Fourside.

27. Fourside Again
Goods: Trout Yogurt, Vital Capsule, Sudden Guts Pill

Give the yogurt machine to Electra (Monotoli's maid) and you will then be
allowed to use the elevator in the Monotoli building that was previously
closed. At the top of the building are many rooms with robot guards. There
are only two treasures here, though, so wait until after meeting Monotoli to
explore. Go past the first set of doors, and enter the ones to the left of
the restrooms. Always go up and right when possible. If you visit Electra
in her room, you can get some Trout Yogurt. Before you can reach Monotoli's
room, however, you will face another robot.

Boss: Clumsy Robot
How to beat: You can't do much damage to him, because he keeps maxing out his
HP with baloney sandwiches. But luckily, you don't have to! Just stay alive
for a while and the Runaway Five will come and defeat it for you!

When you meet Mr. Monotoli, Paula will be found safe and sound. It seems
that Monotoli is not such a bad guy after all. Mr. Monotoli will explain
everything, and tell you to take his helicopter to Summers. However, Pokey
will steal it before you can get in! The Runaway Five will offer you a lift
to Threed. Go to the place in the cemetary where Paula nd Ness were held
captive (where the wreck of the Sky Runner is). Take the repaired Sky
Runner back to Dr. Andonut's lab.

28. Rainy Circle
Goods: None!

While Dr. Andonuts is reprogramming the Runner, go to the cave North of
Stonehenge (where the Sanctruary that you passed with Jeff is). Since the
guardian is at the very beginning of the cave, there isn't really much to
talk about.

Boss: Shrooom! HP:1700
This boss has pretty high defense against physical attacks. However, it is
weak against Psi Fire. Ness' Rockin also works well.

After gaining the song of Rainy Circle, go back to the lab, and you will be
taken to the resort town of Summers.

29. Out and About in Summers
Goods: None!

In Summers, everything is very expensive! The Photo Man will come once in
front of the hotel, once in the restaurant, and again on the beach. When
Tony calls and asks for your name, submit your real name. Talk to one of the
sailors in the East side of town, and find out that his wife has joined the
Stoic Club. A man in one of the houses near there will give you the number
of the club. Call to make an appointment, and then go there. Talk to the
woman on the right and she will leave. Follow her to her booth by the beach,
and eat one of her cakes. The game will now switch to Poo.

30. Dalaam
Goods: Brain Food Lunch, Cup of Lifenoodles, Brain Stone, Bottle of Water,
Jar of Delisauce, Bowl of Rice Gruel

As Poo, you must pass your final test in your training. Go to the cliff
at the bottom right of Dalaam and climb to the top of the hill to meditate.
When the girl comes, don't move. You'll soon have an encounter with your
ancestor. Just agree with everything that he says, no matter how bad it
seems. When this is finished, return to the palace and talk to your master.
You will gain a few levels, and go to Summers and join the other three
characters.

31. Back to Summers
Goods: Hieroglyph Copy

Once Poo joins you, go to the museum. Upstairs, give the man Poo's jewel
to get let into the room with the hieroglyphs. You'll have to fight two
shattered men, who are weak to Paralysis. When you get to the entrance of
the museum, the phone will ring. Answer it. It's Mr. Spoon, of the Fourside
Museum who will tell you that he found something amazing.

32. Magnet Hill
Goods: Signed Banana, Croissant, Broken Iron, Broken Spray Can, Rust
Promoter DX, Broken Bazooka, Carrot Key

At the Fourside museum, the photo man will come once outside, and once
inside. Talk to Mr. Spoon, who will ask for Venus' autograph. Go to the
theater to watch her show, then go to her room to get the autograph. Give it
to Mr. Spoon, he will let you into the next of Your Sanctuaries. In the
Sewers, you'll have to go in and out of the water to avoid obstacles. Search
through garbage cans to find goods, notably broken items for Jeff. However,
the cans that are white (instead of off white) are actually enemies, so watch
out! The enemy trashcans can possess you with a mini ghost, so it is wide to
avoid them. At the end, you will face the Sanctuary's guardian (of course).

Boss: Plague Rat of Doom HP: 1827
How to beat: Since it has high defense, you might want to use Offense Up, so
Jeff can do some damage. Psi is definitely more effective, especially
Freeze, since it can paralyze the beast.

At the end of the Sanctuary, don't forget to open the box. The key inside
will let you enter the next Sanctuary, in Dalaam.

33. Pink Cloud
Goods: Bracer of Kings, Sudden Guts Pill, Rock Candy

Now, use Teleport to go to Dalaam. The Photo Man will come outside the
palace, and again in the throne room. Go to the bottom of Dalaam, where the
rabbit statues are. Use the Carrot Key to make them disappear. Inside are
many electrical enemies, so bring the Franklin Badge with you. You will have
to drop down holes to explore the whole place. The most important thing to
find is the Bracer of Kings, Poo's only arm equpment in the game. It is
found in the bottom left of the cave. Go through to the end to the left of
the entrance, then go down the rope to find it. At the end of the Sanctuary,
you will face Thunder and Storm.

Boss: Thunder and Storm HP:2065
How to Beat: Their Lightning attacks can bounce off the person wearing the
Franklin Badge, and hit them. They are weak against Psi Flash, so use it to
put status ailments on them. Freeze also works well.

34. To Scaraba
Goods: None!

Go back to Summers and walk to the docks. The Photo Man will come on the
way. Talk to the boat Captain whose wife makes magic cakes. For $80, he'll
take you across the sea to Scaraba, but on the way, you will encounter the
Kraken.

Boss: Kraken
How to beat: Psi Freeze does a considerable amount of damage to the Kraken.
The Hungry HP Sucker is a good choice for Jeff. Use Bash or Rockin with
Ness.

35. Scaraba
Goods: None (except for the stuff you buy)

Scaraba is in a desert, so watch out for Sunstroke. The bottle rocket
salesman can be found in the hotel here. Check out the shop and bazaar to
stock up on items. The Photo Man will come in the bazaar. You can buy a
piggy nose, but it won't be useful until you reach Deep Darkness. When you
are ready, travel South to the Pyramid and the Sphinx. Starting on the top,
make a star by stepping on the buttons in front of the Sphinx in the right
order. I'm sure you all know how to make a star, so I won't bother telling
you the exact order. Once you make the star, the door to the pyramid opens.
The Photo Man will arrive before you enter though.

36. Pyramid
Goods: Viper, Bag of Dragonite, Speed Capsule, Cup of Lifenoodles, Rain
Pendant, Hawk Eye, Diamond Band, Key to Tower

Inside the Pyramid, keep going right until you reach a room with a large
stone sarcophagus. If you go up and left, you can find treasure, but don't
forget to go right to find a switch. But before you can hit it, you must
deal with the Guardian General.

Boss: Guardian General HP: 831
How to Beat: He has no weakness, so attack with your strongest Psi. Rockin
and Freeze are always good choices.

After you step on the switch, return to the room with the sarcophagus.
Drop down the new hole. Don't forget to pick up the Hawk's Eye on the
Pedestal at the bottom. Make your way out by going right. At the exit, you
will meet the Star Master. He will heal you, and take Poo for some special
training. You will have to go for a while with only three people.
Just make sure Poo isn't carrying the Hawk Eye when he leaves. Outside, talk
to the tribesman to get the key to the tower, and talk to the man with the
camel to buy supplies. With the Key, go north until you reach the large,
stone man, and use the key to enter.

37. Dungeon Man
Goods: Cup of Lifenoodles, Molokheiya Soup, $5, Snake, Super Plush Bear,
$10, Pizza, Sudden Guts Pill, Psi Caramel, Wet Towel, IQ Capsule, Talisman
Ribbon

Dungeon Man used to be Brick Road, but his goal has now been fulfilled.
The benches inside let you heal, and there is a phone and hospital to the
left of the entrance. Read the signs as you go along, and collect goods.
When you reach the four ropes, take the rope that is third from the left to
continue. When you get to the top, talk to Brick Road, and then exit down
the hole. The Dungeon Man will follow you for a while. While walking around
in the desert, the Photo Man will came. When you go between some palm trees
in the south, the Dungeon Man will get stuck and leave your party. Talk to
the tribesman to learn that you need a submarine, then re-enter Dungeon Man.
Take the same route up as before, just make sure that at the top, jump down
the hole on the far right (the one that was blocked off by a sign before).
Once you obtain the Sub, you can go to Deep Darkness.

38. Deep Darkness
Goods: Monkey's Love, Banana, Beef Jerky, Cup of Lifenoodles, Souvenir Coin,
Rock Candy, IQ Capsule

After taking the sub, you will end up in Deep Darkness. Talk to the
different monkeys. One lets you sleep, and another will give you the
Monkey's Love if you teach it Psi Teleport. The bird is actually a phone.
There is also a doctor you can use. The person underwater will let you
withdraw money, but will charge a handling fee equal to the amount you
withdraw. The bottle rocket salesman is here also. If you use the Piggy
Nose, you can find the magic truffles in the swamp. There should be five of
them. When you get to the dark part of the swamp, use the Hawk Eye.
Walking around in the deep water will deplete your HP, so watch your meter.
While walking through the swamp, you will find the wreak of Pokey's
helicopter, but he is nowhere to be found. The Photo Man will come on the
island with the bird and IQ Capsule. At the end, you'll encounter an old
enemy.

Boss: Master Barf
How to beat: It's Belch's return engagement, only now he's calling himself
Barf. Fly Honey won't work this time. Just keep attacking until Poo returns
and finishes him off with Psi Starstorm. When he dies, Barf will drop the
Casey Bat. It is very powerful, but almost always misses (hence the name).

Go into the cave at the end of the swamp to enter the Tenda Village.

39. Tenda Village
Goods: Death Ray

The Tenda can't help you until you can get them the Overcoming Shyness
book, since all but one of them is too shy to speak. Apple Kid has the book,
but when you leave the cave, you will receive a call from him. It seems that
both he and Dr. Andonuts have been kidnapped!

40. Back to Winters
Goods: Eraser Eraser

Teleport to Winters and make your way to Andonut's lab. Talk to the
Bubble Monkey to ride on Tessy. If you bring the pencil eraser with you, you
can take a small short cut afterwards. Once in the lab, talk to Apple
Kid's mouse to get the Eraser Eraser, and then go to the hole in the middle
of Stonehenge. The Photo Man will come near the entrance.

41. Stonehenge Base
Goods: Spicy Jerky, Guts Capsule, Cup of Lifenoodles, Broken Harmonica,
Psi Caramel, Exit Mouse, Broken Trumpet, Pixy's Bracelet, Speed Capsule,
Saturn Ribbon

Use the Eraser Eraser to remove the iron eraser, and enter the base.
The Starmen here teleport around, so you may suddenly find yourself in a
battle if they teleport into you. If you encounter an Atomic Power Robot,
you might want to run. They always refill their HP, so the battle will take
a long time, and they explode when they die. In the second part of the
dungeon, you may encounter Starman Super. They very rarely drop the Sword of
Kings, Poo's only weapon in the whole game. If you want to find one, you
must do so before beating the boss, because all of the starmen disappear
after. In the third part of the base, the lights turn on and off, so watch
where to go when they are on. Finally you will end up in the room where all
of the kidnapped people are being held. The next room hold the base's
leader.

Boss: Starman DX HP:1400
How to beat: He often calls for help, and other Starmen join him. However,
you only have to defeat the DX. Use Paula's Shield for protection. Before
you use Psi Attacks, use Jeff's Shield Killer.

After defeating the Starman DX, talk to the freed people. Mr. Saturn wil
give you a reward. Talk to Apple Kid to find out that the shyness book is
back in the Onett Library.

42. Lumine Hall
Goods: Shyness Book, Tendakraut, Bag of Dragonite, Super Bomb, IQ Capsule,
Luck Capsule, Rock Candy, Bottle of DX Water, Rabbit's Foot, Luxury Jerky,
Cup of Lifenoodles

First, return to Onet and look for the book. It is on the left shelf in
the room next to the front desk. Teleport to the Tenda Village and give the
Chief the book. After that, the Tenda will talk to you. The chief will
reward you with some Tendakraut and Dragonite. You will be given a chance to
fix your name here also. Have some tea. The Photo Man will come near the
Tea Table. The shop has a bunch of items, but you will need to trade Horns
of Life for them. Good items include the Dragonite, Talisman Coin, and the
Hall of Fame Bat. Talk to the Tenda by the large rock to have it moved, and
then enter the next Sanctuary. Inside the Dungeon, you can talk to the big,
black rocks. Like in Pink Cloud, there are several holes to drop down.
Don't miss the Bracer of Kings for Poo. To get it, go down the ladder next
to the first hole you encounter. Then go up the next ladder to come up next
to the Bracer. When you get to the end of the dungeon, you will meet the
Electro Specter.

Boss: Electro Specter HP: 3092
How to beat: Since he has no strength or weakness, keep attacking with your
strongest abilities. Jeff should use the heavy bazooka. The Franklin Badge
will come in handy against his electric attacks.

After recording the song in Lumine Hall, drop down the hole to enter the
Lost Underworld.

43. Lost Underworld
Goods: Brain Food Lunch, Cloak of Kings, Guts Capsule, Sea Pendant, Horn of
Life

It will take a while moving around here, since it is so large! When you
get to the large encampment of Tenda, they won't let you in unless you have
the Tendakraut. Once you get inside, one Tenda will let you withdraw money,
but charges a fee. Another sells stuff, and another runs an inn. Like in
Deep Darkness, the phones here are birds. Talk to the big rock in the
village to get info on the last of Your Sanctuaries. Before going there,
however, explore the Underworld to find goods. Poo's final piece of
equipment, the Cloak of Kings, is down here. The springs can you life and
health. Blue refill HP, pink cures your status. To use one, just stand in
front of it. When you are done exploring, go to Fire Springs, which is south
west of the Tenda encampment.

44. Fire Springs
Goods: Speed Capsule, Cherub's Band, Bag of Dragonite, Horn of Life, Moon
Beam Gun

The enemies here are mostly fire based (duh!). Many of them are capable
of powerful fire attacks, so try to finish the battles quickly. There are
several good items to find here, although you will have to explore the
different caves to find them. At the top of the area, you will fight the
final guardian, the Carbon Dog.

Boss: Carbon Dog HP: 1672 & Diamond Dog HP: 3344
How to beat: The Carbon Dog is not really weak against anything, so use your
most powerful attacks. Since it is fire, try Freeze. After you deal a
certain amount of damage out, it will transform into the Diamond Dog. It now
has a Power Shield on, so use the Shield Killer before doing any physical
attacks.

After you receive the final part of the song, Ness will be transported to the
realm of Magicant, inside of his mind.

45. Magicant
Goods: Psi Caramel, Baseball Cap, Bag of Dragonite, Goddess Band, Magicant
Bat, Magic Tart

In Magicant, you will encounter many friends and enemies that you met
during your journey. Your family is also here, and does the same things as
they normally do. In the shop, you can buy Magic Pudding, and Earth
Pendants. It is a good idea to stock up on the pudding, since this shop is
the only place to buy them. You may also want to buy two extra pendants for
Paula and Jeff. If you talk to yourself, you will get a baseball cap, but
this is useless, so don't bother. When you get to the Flying Man house, one
will join you. They are pretty weak, but at least they take blows for you.
If yours dies, just talk to another one. There are a total of five. When
you encounter enemies, watch out for the Carefree Bomber, who can quickly
wipe you out. The weird object at the end of the path is a transporter.
Check it to go to the Sea of Eden.

46. Sea of Eden
Goods: None!

In the Sea of Eden, there are three Krakens, like the one you fought
before. Defeat them to continue.

Boss: Kraken HP: 1097
How to beat: They are the same as before, except you should be much stronger
now. They should be no problem. You should be able to kill them easily with
bash, and take very little damage.

At the end of the sea, talk to the thing that looks like the Evil Mani Mani
to fight Ness' evil side.

Boss: Ness' Nightmare HP:1654
How to beat: This boss has every Psi ability that Ness has. If you are
unlucky, he will keep using Rockin Omega, and blow you away. He also has a
Psychic Shield up, so your first few attacks of Psi will not work. While he
has it up, keep bashing. He will probably switch to a Power Shield during
the fight. At this point, blast him repeatedly with your strongest Rockin.

After defeating the Nightmare, all of the Sanctuaries will increase Ness'
stats by a lot, and you will gain quite a bit of experience. Magicant and
the Sound Stone will disappear, and you and your friends will go to Saturn
Valley.

47. Preparations for the Final Battle
Goods: Meteorite piece

At Saturn Valley, you will discover that Pokey stole the Phase
Distorter, and kidnapped one of the Mr. Saturn. To make the Phase Distorter
2, Dr. Andonuts and Apple Kid need a piece of the meteor from Onett. Go
there. Unfortunately, Giygass has taken over the town, and the only home
that is unlocked is yours. Battle the monsters on your way up to the meteor.
If you encounter the Ghost of Starman, immediately errect a Psychic Shield,
or you will be blasted by Starstorm. Give the Meteorite to Andonuts and make
you final preparations. Once you enter the Distorter, there's no turning
back! When you are ready, go to sleep, then talk to Andonuts. Enter the
Distorter to go to the Lost Underworld. I recommend that you do not save
anymore. If you do, you will not be able to do anything else in your file
except beat the game. The Starmaster will meet you here to teach Poo
Starstorm Omega. Search the wreaked Distorter to find a Horn of Life. Wait
for Andonuts and Apple Kid to show up, then talk to Andonuts. Agree to go
back in time. Your spirits will be transferred to robots, and you will be
sent back in time to fight Giygas.

48. The Final Area
Goods: Legendary Bat

While traveling in the past, you can encounter the Ghost of Starman, and
the Final Starman. Since both are capable of Psi Starstorm, use a Psychic
Shield. If you get hurt, the Phase Distorter can heal you, but do not save.
Pick up the Legendary Bat while you progress through the area. The large
silver spheres are transporters. Touch them to continue on your journey.
Eventually, you will come to a room full of machinery. Here you will
encounter Giygas and Pokey.

Boss: Giygas and Heavily Armed Pokey HP:?????
How to beat: Do not attack Giygas! Anything you throw at him will bounce
off, no matter what it is. Instead, concentrate on Pokey. Brainshock will
work against both of them. Use your strongest attacks against Pokey.
Eventually, Pokey will turn off the "Devil's Machine" and reveal Giygas' true
form.

Boss: Giygas, Form 2
How to beat: Giygas' attacks are said to be unidentifiable, but there are
only a few different things that he can do. He can do a lightning attack
(which can be blocked by the Franklin Badge), Psi Flash, and an attack that
damages everyone, and has a possibility of solidifying you. Just attack with
your strongest attacks until Pokey returns.

Boss: Giygas, Form 3
How to Beat: Above all else, KEEP PAULA ALIVE! If you lose her and run out
of healing items, you can't beat the game. The amount of damage that you
inflict to Giygas does not matter, so use Ness, Jeff and Poo to keep everyone
alive and well. Have Paula pray seven times. The people that you met on
your journey will help you defeat Giygas.

Boss: Giygas, Form 4
How to beat: Use Paula's pray twice. You, the player, will save the day!

49. The End
Goods: Letter From Mom, Letter From Tony, Letter From Kids, Shyness Book

After the final battle, you will be taken back to the present. Jeff and
Poo will depart, and Paula will ask you to escort her to her home. You can
now basically go anywhere you want. Most people say different stuff, so take
as long or as short as you want. You can try calling everyone also, to see
what they say. If you talk to the Tenda chief, you can get the Shyness Book
back, and return it to the library, but you don't have to. Just don't forget
to take Paula back to Twoson. When you are done, go home and talk to your
mom. The cast of characters will show, and then the credits will run as all
of the pictures that the Photo Man took are shown. However, the game is not
over yet! If you wait for a few minutes after the credits, you can see a
short scene involving Pokey . . . . .

Congratulations for beating Earthbound!

******************************************
IV. Characters and Abilities in Earthbound
******************************************

Ness
_____

Ness is the main character of the game, and the one destined to defeat
Giygas. He may look like a kid, but he is deadly with a baseball bat!
Although he has no special commands of his own, he has many powerful and
useful Psi Attacks.

Ness' Psi

1. Lifeup: Alpha through Omega. Lifeup heals one character's HP. The
stronger version of the spell used, the more life is regained. Omega heals
everyone in the party.

2. Rockin: Alpha through Omega. A special and powerful attack that only
Ness can do, it damages all enemies on the screen with non-elemental damage.
The stronger version used, the more damage it does.

3. Healing: Alpha through Gamma. Healing cures a character of a status
ailment. The more powerful version used, the more conditions it can cure.
Although a cold can be cured by Alpha, being revived from death requires
Gamma.

4. Shield: Alpha through Beta. This puts up a barrier that cuts down the
amount of physical damage done to a character. Casting in multiple times
makes the shield stronger, but Paula's shield will cancel this one out.

5. Paralysis: Alpha through Omega. This makes it so an enemy can not move,
and therefore can not attack. They can still use Psi though. Alpha effects
one enemy, while Omega effects all.

6. Flash: Alpha through Omega. This puts different status ailments on all
enemies. More powerful versions of this attack cause greater ailments. The
stronger ones can even kill an enemy in one blow!

7. Hypnosis: Alpha through Omega. This puts enemies to sleep. A physical
attack will wake them up though.

8. Teleport: Alpha through Omega. With a running start, Ness can go anywhere
he has been to previously.

Paula
_______

Paula is a young girl who has strong psychic powers. After being rescued by
Ness, she follows him faithfully on his adventure.

During Battle, Paula can use the command "Pray". This ability has a random
effect on the battle. It can cause your party to heal, an enemy party to be
hurt, and can even put everyone (including yourself) to sleep. Although
unpredictable, this ability is essential to winning the game.

Paula's Psi

1. Freeze: Alpha through Omega. This attack does a lot of damage to a single
enemy. It also has the chance of solidifying an enemy, making it incapable
of moving for a round.

2. Fire: Alpha through Omega. This attack damages all enemies in a row
(either the front row or the back row).

3. Thunder: Alpha through Gamma. This is a powerful lightning attack, but
has very low accuracy. It only hits some of the time. The more powerful
version used, the more chances you get of hitting.

4. Shield: Alpha through Omega. This protects you from psychic attacks. The
weaker ones just keep the attacks from hitting you, but the stronger ones
reflect the attack back at the enemy. It is cancelled out by Ness' and Poo's
shield.

5. Magnet: Alpha through Omega. This allows you to drain PP from the enemy.

6. Offense Up: Alpha through Omega. I think this is self-explanatory.

7. Defense Down: Alpha through Omega. I'm pretty sure you can figure this
one out also.

Jeff
_____

Jeff is the brains of the bunch, and the son of the great scientist Dr.
Andonuts. Although he doesn't look to tough, he can use powerful guns.
However, he is the only character who can not use Psi.

During battle, Jeff can use Spy. This allows him to see an enemy's Offense,
Defense, weakness, and any item it might have.

Although Jeff can not use Psi, his main power is fixing broken stuff. If you
find a broken item, put it in Jeff's inventory. Depending on his IQ level,
Jeff can fix the item when you sleep.

Jeff's fixing:

Broken Spray Can becomes the Defense Spray
Broken Iron becomes the Slime Generator
Broken Air Gun becomes the Magnum Air Gun
The broken Laser becomes the Laser Gun
The broken Machine becomes the Counter Psi Unit
The broken Cannon become the Spectrum Beam
The broken Pipe becomes the Shield Killer
The broken Gadget becomes the Double Beam
The broken Tube becomes the Hungry HP Sucker
The broken Bazooka becomes the Heavy Bazooka
The Broken Harmonica becomes the Baddest Beam
The Broken Antenna becomes the Gaia Beam*
*This item is only rumored to exist. I haven't found it yet!

Poo
_____

Poo is the Prince of the Faraway land of Dalaam. After completing his Mu
training, he travels with Ness and his friends. He is a powerful fighter,
but only has four pieces of equipment in the whole game. He has several
powerful Psi abilities.

During battle, Poo can use the Mirror command. This allows him to turn into
the enemy he is fighting and use that enemy's attacks. However, he still
wastes PP when attacking.

Poo's Psi

reflect physical attacks back at the enemy.

2. Teleport: Alpha through Omega. Same as Ness

V. Tips, Secrets, and Random Facts about Earthbound
****************************************************

1. This game is actually known as "Super Mother", or "Mother 2" in Japan.
The original Earthbound, known as "Mother" was for the Famicom, but was never
released in the US. You can find in on emulators, though, under the name
"Earthbound Zero". Of course I don't condone emulator use.

2. There is an easy way to avoid battles in this game. The first is to walk
back and forth. If you see a bunch of enemies in the way, walk back, so you
can't see them, then walk forward again. The enemies may disappear. Or, you
can get into one battle. Once it is over, and you are still invisible, walk
inside another enemy, so when you turn back to normal, you will get a
preemptive attack. You can then run or defeat the enemy easily.

3. In the two deserts of the game, watch for caterpillars. In Dusty Dunes,
they are green, and in Scaraba, that are red. They always run from you, but
if you catch one, you automatically win, and get a TON of experience.
Searching for them is a very easy way to gain levels.

4. If you talk to the man in Twoson's Hotel a bunch of times, he'll give you
$50.

5. A good way to make money at the beginning is to buy a bunch of Fresh
Eggs, and let them grow into chickens before reselling them.

6. If you don't save for a long time at the beginning, your dad will call
you, even before you have the Receiver Phone! I wonder how he does that....

7. When you order a Pizza, you normally have to wait for three minutes.
However, if you order a pizza, then save your game and reset it, the pizza
will come as soon as you restart.

8. Delisauce (sold in Dalaam) goes well with any food.

9. In Happy Happy Village, you don't have to pay for the food at the stall,
but if you don't, the man watching it will attack you.

10. In the Stonehenge Base, Starman Super sometimes drop the Sword of Kings,
Poo's only weapon. But if you want it, you must find it before fighting
Starman DX.

11. The Chomposaurs in the Lost Underworld sometimes drop the Magic Frying
Pan. It is weaker than the Holy Frying Pan, but increases Paula's guts by
about 100.

12. The Ghost of Starman sometimes drops Goddess Ribbons.

13. The Bionic Kraken is rumored to drop the Gutsy Bat, which is similar to
the Magic Frying Pan, only it is for Ness, not Paula.

14. There is a rumor that Jeff's strongest weapon, the Gaia Beam, is found by
fixing the Broken Antenna. However, I have heard conflicting reports on
where the Antenna is. I heard in one place that Ego Orbs in the Lost
Underworld drop them, and in another place that Uncontrollable Spheres, in
Lumine Hall, drop them. If you have any information regarding this, please
contact me at Tpowell@UCSD.edu

15. Shigero Miyamoto, Nintendo's resident Video Gaming God, played the title
screen music on his guitar.

16. The models of all of the characters were made out of clay. Everyone
loves Clay!

17. When riding the bike, you can make the bell ring by pressing the R
button.

18. If a mushroom grows on your head, the hospital's healer will pay you $50
to remove it.

19. There are a total of five magic truffles hidden in the Deep Darkness.

20. While they are performing, there are six members of the Runaway Five.
Who's the sixth guy?

21. Some enemies in Onett (once Giygas has taken over) drop Meteortites and
Meteornium. They can be sold for a high price.

22. The Infinite Stats Up Trick: To do this trick, you need a piece of Rock
Candy and either Sugar Packets (which go with Rock Candy) or Delisauce (which
goes with everything). Put the condiments and the Rock Candy at the bottom
of a character's inventory, with the Rock Candy being the last item listed.
When you are in a battle, use the Rock Candy. The Rock Candy and the
condiment will cause either Speed, IQ, Vitality, or Luck to go up by 2.
However, only the condiment will have been consumed. The Rock Candy will
still be in your item list! You can repeat this process until everyone's
stats are maxed out!

23. There have been several other games that featured Earthbound characters:

Mother (Earthbound Zero): Of course the Famicom prequel was about
Earthbound stuff!

Kirby Super Star: In the Great Cave Offensive game, Mr. Saturn is one of the
treasures. This game also featured treasures from just about every famous
Nintendo game except for Pokemon, which had not been created yet.

Super Smash Brothers: Ness was a secret character. However, all of the
attacks he uses in this game are attacks that he could not do in Earthbound
(like Fire and Thunder).

Super Smash Brothers Melee: Ness once again appears as a playable character.
In addition, two Earthbound levels appear, Onett and Fourside. Plus Mr.
Saturn appears as one of the items.

24. A new game, Mother 64 was planned for the N64, but was, sadly, cancelled.
However, with the Gamecube, does Earthbound have a future? We'll have to
wait and see...
