========
CONTROLS
========

The controls for this game are very simple, and are as follows:

A - Jumps.
B - Fire current weapon.
Start - Pause.
Select - Not Used.

========
POWERUPS
========

The only powerups are 3 types of shots for your weapon in the game.

Spread Shots - These shots (not surprisingly) spread out when fired,
instead of traveling in a straight line. If you collect a second spread
shot powerup they will spread out even more.

Heat-Seeking Shots - These shots home in on all enemies when fired, very
useful.

Fire Shots - These shots are large balls of flame, and when they hit a
target they turn into 4 smaller balls that fly outward in 4 separate
directions.

========
THE GAME
========

There are 5 stages to the game and I will give you a walkthrough for
each stage. I will assume that you have kept the type of shots that I
have indicated, but really you can beat anything with any type of shot,
some are just easier than others.

Also you should really keep the fire button (B) held down then entire
time you play, it makes things easier.

-------
Area 01
-------

Head right and shoot the two snipers above as you kill the guards on
your right. Continue right and when you pass by the ledge above shoot
the capsule for some spread shots. Beware of the running guards and
snipers, then go right and head up the hill.

Destroy the turret and the guards that run up after you every so often.
Once you reach the top shoot a sniper and another capsule for more
spread shots. Go right and shoot the guards above, then lie down as you
destroy the turret in front of you.

Jump the next two gaps and shoot another turret, then continue right and
ride an elevator down. Shoot up constantly and destroy 3 flying
machines that enter the top of the screen from the middle, then destroy
the last machine as it flies in from the right.

Jump the gap and shoot the guards that chase you from the left, then
shoot the capsule and get the heat-seeking shots. Ignore all other
capsules and keep these shots for as long as you can. Jump another gap
and destroy the boat below you, then jump the next gap and avoid the
capsule. Jump a gap and destroy a boat, then jump two more and kill
some guards. Avoid the capsule and jump the last gap, then drop down
the wall.

Head right and shoot more guards, then duck to destroy a turret. Jump
the gap and destroy two turrets, then jump another gap and head right.
Jump the gap and shoot the guards following you, then jump another gap
and start the boss battle.

Basically use your heat-seeking shots to destroy the 6 missile bays and
3 turrets on the sub below you to complete the stage. The whole time
guards will run by every so often so watch out for them, other than that
just avoid the sub's shots and you should do just fine.

-------
Area 02
-------

You'll basically be heading up this whole stage, but there are obstacles
along the way.

Watch out for the guards at the start and destroy a turret shortly after
that point. Head up between some walls and ignore the capsule, then
continue up to fight a mini-boss.

This tank alternates firing a 3 point spread shot from each cannon, then
it starts to move while doing this. The shots are easy enough to avoid,
and with heat-seeking shots the battle is very easy.

Continue up and walk along the right side of the parked tank. When you
see the capsule shoot it and get the fire shots. Continue up and let
the tank roll in front of you while you stay safely behind it on the
right side. Fire your shots at the tank to destroy the three weapons it
has (try to destroy the middle one first) and stop it.

Continue up and trade your flame shots for some spread shots, then shoot
some guards and destroy the turret above. Walk up the left conveyor
belt and shoot the capsule when you can to get your heat-seeking rounds
back again. Destroy some turrets and guards as you work your way up to
a third tank battle.

This tank is just like the first one you fought, so just avoid its shots
and destroy the two turrets. You can do this quite safely if you shoot
from the right side of them against the wall, their shots won't come
close to you.

Destroy two turrets as you head up and shoot the giant doors blocking
your way until they explode. Head up and get ready for the boss battle.

This boss is like two of the tanks that you fought earlier and a new
type for the middle section. I would recommend destroying the left and
right sections first and saving the middle part for last. The middle
section fires shots that can block your own shots so you shouldn't
attack it from directly below. Other than that the fight isn't terribly
hard, and shouldn't give you much trouble.

-------
Area 03
-------

Head right as you kill the guards that run at you from both sides, then
kill two snipers and continue right. Destroy three hidden turrets in
the ground and avoid the spread shots in the capsule. Destroy many
falling boulders if you can for points and hopefully extra lives, then
continue right and kill the sniper before you jump up to temporary
safety.

Continue right and kill a turret and sniper, then carefully jump up the
platforms while destroying snipers and turrets along the way. Ride the
two moving platforms left and continue climbing the platforms to the
top. Go right and destroy two hidden turrets as you kill the guards,
then prepare for the mini-boss battle.

Hit the lower left and right sections of the flying machine, then when
they take enough damage the bottom piece will drop off and the battle
will end. You must kill or avoid guards while doing this, as well as
the pods that the machine drops. The battle isn't really tough, but can
be frustrating so keep your eyes open for pods and guards.

Head right afterwards into some water, you can duck at any time and
enemies will be able to run right over you without killing you so keep
that in mind while you are in water. Head right and shoot some guards,
then destroy more boulders for points and lives if you can. Continue
right to a waterfall and start working your way up more platforms.
Watch out for enemies behind the waterfall and turrets, also avoid the
flame capsule close to the top.

Jump the waterfall once you reach the top and continue right to start
the boss battle.

There are four points that need to be attacked in this battle. Two side
turrets on the bottom piece and the two flaps on the flying machine.
Destroy them all and then destroy the middle area of the flying machine
to complete the stage.

-------
Area 04
-------

Throughout this stage there will be bugs crawling out of gaps in the
walls, and little volcano-looking growths that you can destroy to
release more bugs.

From the start you'll want to walk up and destroy three growths and
avoid two weapon capsules. Continue up and destroy three more growths
and avoid another weapon capsule, then go up some more and destroy three
growths.

Avoid the spear moving in and out from the left wall, then continue up
and avoid another spear on the left. Destroy the growth and avoid two
spears on the right, then avoid a spear on the left as you destroy a
growth.

Weave through a right, left, right combo of spears, then do it again for
a second set of spears. Finally walk up for a short section to reach
the boss.

This giant spider boss fires 3-6 shots from its mouth every so often, it
also fires a bouncing diagonal laser from its rear. The boss also moves
left and right between shots, you must hit it in the mouth. If you stay
low then the fight is tolerable, just watch out for those lasers.

-------
Area 05
-------

Head right from the start and destroy the turret, then continue right
and destroy the two scorpions as they burst from their tanks. Destroy a
turret, two scorpions and another turret before going right.

Destroy another turret and a sniper as you reach the wall, then start
jumping up the platforms. Destroy the snipers and scorpions until you
reach the top and avoid the flame shots if you still have your heat-
seeking shots.

Jump the gap and kill three scorpions, then avoid the spread shots and
continue right. Destroy three more scorpions and three turrets, then go
right and start climbing more platforms.

Ride the large platform upward and shoot guards and scorpions along the
way. Duck the lasers when they appear and don't get caught under the
laser machines. Once the platform stops, jump up five more platforms to
the top and kill the scorpion on the way up.

Go right and destroy three turrets, then destroy three pods in the
ceiling. Continue right to fight the boss of the stage.

This flying boss is quite fast so you need to be fast as well. One
attack he has is to fire four missiles that arc towards you, jump over
the one that lands closest to you and don't land on the blast. Another
attack is hovering and firing his arms at you, jump over them and they
will get stuck in the ceiling. However after he is done firing more
missiles at you the arms will return to the boss and you will need to
jump them again. Basically fire at him constantly while avoiding the
attacks that I have described and he should go down after some time.

The wall behind him then opens up, so proceed right through it.
Carefully go through the electrified areas when it is safe. You will
see a large glass tank, fire at it until an explosion begins and you
will have completed the game.

CODES
=====

There's just the one code for this game and it's not very useful. It's
entered at the main (Contra) title screen.

Sound test - Up, down, left, right, A, B, Start.

I have decided not to allow websites other than gamefaqs
(www.gamefaqs.com) to host my FAQs from now on. Please don't ask,
because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many sites
don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of
hassle in my mailbox. So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than
gamefaqs, please let me know and I will take care of the situation,
thanks.
