WELCOME! This guide is here to tell you where the 12 secret missions are in
Devil May Cry, and a walkthrough of how to complete them. I have also thrown
in other tips and tricks to make the secret missions even easier for you to
complete. A section that tells you some hints, tricks, and attributes of the
shotgun in DMC has also been added. If you don't want to know these things and
you want to find them out on your own, please do not read further. For those
of you who do, its time for some Devil Hunting!

^SHOTGUN: TRICKS AND HINTS^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This section of the guide is not to convince you that the shotgun is the best
gun in the game, it is rather to convince you that you should really consider
it as your weapon of choice for MOST of the secret missions. The enemies in
MOST of the secret missions play right into the shotgun's strengths, so even if
this gun is not your favorite, at least give it a chance.

Before I get into the actual Secret Mission Information and Walkthrough, I
would like to take some time to explain the mighty shotgun that Dante wields in
DMC. You should go into these secret missions confident of your ability to
blow away anything that moves with the shotgun, and this section should help
you accomplish that faster and swifter than you ever have before. This section
will include the pros and cons of the gun, in which mission it is found, and
some hints and tricks so you can use this gun more effectively. I have added
this part because I found myself using the shotgun a lot during these secret
missions. This should help you master the techniques of the shotgun, thus
making these missions easier. Well, here it is:

LOCATION

Mission Two Judge of Death

PICKED UP

It is found/located in the room where you get the rusty key and where you later
battle the Sin Scissors (NOTE: This room is accessed by going into the door
that is nearest the statue that gives you Alastor). Once inside this room,
take the stairs or simply jump onto to second floor. Now smash the lone table
on the second floor to reveal the shotgun. Stand on it and simply press the
'action' button to pick it up. This gun is now yours and is located in your
weapons inventory.

ATTRIBUTES

Bullet for bullet the shotgun is obviously not the strongest gun and it is
not the fastest shooting either. You are probably now asking the question of
why would I want to have this gun equipped when I could be using the handguns,
grenadegun, or even the nightmare beta. You want to use this gun because it
gives you a great balance of power to reload time ratio, and if used correctly,
it could become a huge killing machine. Here are some pros and cons of this gun
that I have whipped up for you.

PROS
+ Can juggle enemies for a lengthy amount of time (if you use the faster
shotgun blast technique that I discuss in the next part of this section).
+ VERY powerful at close range.
+ Good recoil time if you use the faster shotgun blast technique.
+ One shot can take out or injure multiple enemies at once.

CONS
- Not as powerful at long range.
- Not as fast shooting as handguns.
- Not as powerful as grenadegun or fully charged nightmare-beta.

I think that the pros definitely weigh out the cons. The final two cons are
not really that bad, here's why: One shotgun blast is equal to A LOT of
handgun shots in terms of power so it does not hurt you that bad that the
shotgun cannot get as many shots off as the handguns (NOTE: You can really get
a lot of shotgun shots off by, yet again, using the faster shotgun blasts
technique). And the last con is not too bad because you could probably get
about four shotgun blasts off in the time that you could launch one grenade,
so you aren't to bad in that column either. Even if you are doing the roll
trick to cut down on the recoil time of the grenadegun, it still can not
compare to the amount of shotgun blasts that you can get out in the same amount
of time. As you can see, with the shotgun you are getting tons of power, but
you are also getting a lot of shots off too, which is what makes this gun so
deadly. Using this gun correctly could result in you completing these secret
missions faster and easier, not to mention becoming an overall better player at
DMC.

FASTER SHOTGUN BLASTS TECHNIQUE (FSBT)

If I had to tell you one trick that you had to master to be good with the
shotgun, this is it. The shotgun can give a nasty recoil that can make you
turn your back on this gun. This recoil can be especially annoying when trying
to fight large or even small numbers of enemies. That is where this technique
comes in handy. The technique is simple so try to perfect it fast.

Hold down the R1 button to lock onto an enemy, and then fire the shotgun, but
do not wait for it to reload, instead, quickly move the control stick in any
direction. In other words, interchange your shotgun blasts with quickly moving
the control stick any way that you want. You know that this technique has
worked because Dante will hold the shotgun almost perfectly strait, he will
never cock/reload it.

This should help you release shotgun blasts a lot quicker, allowing you to
dispose of enemies faster. Using this method, you should be able to get about
five shotgun blasts off in the same amount of time that you would be able to
release three. This trick can help you tremendously when you are in the
various secret missions fighting Shadows, Death Scythes, and Sin Scissors.
Using this trick can also help you to raise your DT gauge faster. Learn and
master this technique to make this great weapon even more deadly.

CHARGED UP SHOTGUN BLASTS

With all of the guns in this game, excluding the nightmare-b, you can charge
them up and shoot DT shots with them without using up any DT symbols (NOTE: To
charge up the guns you must have Ifrit, Alastor, or Yamato on. You can not
charge up your guns with Force Edge on and only during Mission 22 "Legendary
Battle" can you charge up your guns with the Sparda on). In this guide, we
will obviously only be focusing on charging up shots when the shotgun is
equipped. This can be helpful when fighting off a pack of foes and you have no
DT or just do not want to use any. However, it does take some time to charge
up and leaves you somewhat vulnerable during that time. You know your shotgun
is charging up because there will be blue (Alastor or Yamato), orange (Ifrit),
or red (Sparda) lightning that covers Dante's arm and the handle of the gun.
There are two main ways to charge up your shotgun and then I put in some other
strategies you might want to mix in to make charging up your gun more efficient.

OPTION ONE
This is the "traditional way" to do it. Hold down R1 and then simply shoot
once, but instead of letting go, hold on to the 'shoot' button until the
lightning begins to become visible. This way is used more in the middle of
fighting because you can knock your foe off balance and while he is trying to
recover you can be charging up your gun.

OPTION TWO
Do not hold down R1 at first. Instead, press and HOLD the 'shoot' button and
since you are not holding R1, nothing fires. Now, press and hold R1 while
still holding the 'shoot' button. In one or two seconds your gun should now be
charged and you have not even shot yet. This is used when you a foe does not
attack you until you attack it. You can start him off with a charge up shot
instead of having to shoot, and then try to charge up while he is attacking
you.

OTHER STRATEGIES
When you charge up your shotgun there is no need for you to just stand in one
spot and leave yourself open to many attacks brought on by dangerous foes.
Here are two important things to know when trying to figure out the best way to
charge up your shotgun. Unlike Meteor and Round trip, which are both Devil Arm
moves, the charged up shotgun will never blast on its own when you hold it for
a long time. To release the blasts, you must do it yourself; there is no auto-
fire. Also, the charge up blasts do not become more powerful when you hold it
for a longer period of time. Each blast will have the same amount of power
whether you charge it for one second or one minute. Now that you know these
very important things, you will probably want to try to incorporate some of the
following strategies when you are charging up your shotgun.
[rolling] this can be very useful when wanting to avoid an enemies attack, but
also stay within range of him to do the maximum damage with the shotgun.
[jumping] this can be also be useful to avoid an attack, or just you get away
from a pile of foes. You can also jump off of a ledge and shoot in air, but
then hold onto the shoot button and be charging you gun on the way to the
ground.
[standing your ground] when you get hit, your charge will not disappear unless
you let go. So, if you happen to get hit, stand your ground, and do not stop
charging your gun until you are ready to fire.
Hopefully these strategies will keep you mobile and also cut down on the amount
of damage that you take.

NUMBER OF SHOTGUN BLASTS

With the charge up shot, you can shoot up to three times and still have your
bullets be charged. If you do go for multiple shots, especially three, you
should try to keep the time in between the shots at a minimum; or else you risk
losing the charge. Here are the ways to do it:

ONE SHOT
Simply charge up your gun, and then let go. You should shot one charge up
shot. However, for the time it takes to charge up your gun, you should go for
more than one shot. This is a good tactic if you want to get a powerful shot
in and then go with a move from Alastor or Ifrit.

TWO SHOTS
Charge up your gun, and then let go to fire the first charged shot. Then, you
can either let the gun reload on it's own and give the maximum recoil, or you
can do the FSBT to fire the second shot faster. In place of doing the FSBT,
you can also roll, jump, do Kick13, do an Alastor slash, or just move a few
steps in any direction. Doing one of those alternative ways gives you the
option of shooting, then dodging a move, and then shooting again. I recommend
doing two shots MOST of the time because it is very easy to do, does more
damage than just firing a single charged shot, and is easier to do than trying
to fire three charged shots.

THREE SHOTS
This is obviously the hardest one to do and might even involve some practice.
You have to have VERY LITTLE time in between shots in order to have the third
shot still be charged. Here is the ways I usually do it.
[way one] charge up your gun and then let go to fire the first shot, then FSBT,
proceed to fire the second shot, then FSBT again, and finally fire the third
shot. I find this to be the easier way of the two.
[way two] charge up your gun and then let go to fire the first shot, then jump,
at the peak of the jump fire the second shot, then let Dante fall to the ground,
and right when Dante hits the ground proceed to fire the third shot.
You can also do a roll or do Kick13, but it might take too long resulting in you
not having a charged third shot. This can be difficult sometimes, but practice
and you will soon be perfect.

^SECRET MISSION INFORMATION^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Secret Missions are sub-missions inside of the larger 23 missions. They are
scattered throughout the game. Some levels have multiple secret missions and
some levels have none (most=3, least=0). They also range in difficulty from
very hard to very easy.  When you complete a secret mission, you are rewarded;
most of the time with a Blue Orb Piece, but sometimes with other surprises
that we will get into in the actual walkthrough. You also gain bonus points
for each secret mission completed that goes into your ranking score. It
ranges from 100-200 points depending on the mission. There is a 'Bonus Point
Chart' at the end of the FAQ as well as a little section under each mission in
the walkthrough.

Remember, the secret missions are optional. You can do as many as you want or
as little as you want, it is up to you. Once you do a secret mission on a lower
difficulty, you can go back and do it on the higher difficulty, but your reward
will always be a Yellow Orb. When you do a secret mission, a star comes up at
the save screen showing that you have completed it. Okay, lets
rock!

     ---------------------------------------------------------------------

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^SECRET MISSION WALKTHROUGH^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 1
      -
Critical Hit (Aim for the Sin Scissor's weak spot and kill it in one shot)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: ********** (10/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: 3/4 to Full Health unless you can do it quick (You need so
much health because when you are under the bridge in the water,
                 your health gradually decreases).
LOCATION: Mission 3 - Destroyer of Ardor
ACCESSED: Falling under the broken bridge into the water after defeating
          Phantom.

Here we go. When you are under the bridge and the secret mission has
started, run and step on the multi-colored circle in the big fighting area
where you battled the Sargasso. The Sin Scissor now begins its descent,
circling Dante as it falls. Now the fun begins. Lock on to him by holding R1
and follow him wherever he goes. Eventually, he will try to cut you; this is
your chance. When his scissors open, run at him, stop, and then whack them
with the Alastor or Force Edge (NOTE: Do not 'stinger' the scissors, strike
them by simply pressing the 'O' button. Also, sometimes he recovers too
quickly to get a shot at him; be patient, and simply try again). This is the
hardest part, so move fast. While the Sin Scissors is still "dazed", let go
of R1 (NOTE: You have to let go because if you do not and hold R1, Dante will
only fast walk, not run. This will not give you enough time to move around
the sin scissors and go for the kill) and run about 2/4 to 3/4 of the way
around the sin scissors going left. When you have done this, press and hold
the R1 button again. The shotgun should be pointed at AND through the mask
(NOTE: If you just run up and shoot him, you will hit the side/back of its
head, and in my experience, this will not do). Now, simply fire. Remember
that the shooting has to be done when he is "dazed" and when his scissors are
not protecting him. If you have completed the mission successfully, a BLUE
ORB PIECE will fall next to the multi-colored circle.

ALTERNATIVE STRATEGY
This mission can be very annoying because you almost have to be in a perfect
spot to get the critical hit to register. However, you can make it a little
easier on yourself by weakening the Sin Scissor before going for the critical
hit. When it tries to stab you simply hit it 2-4 times with Alastor/Force Edge.
This should weaken it enough where you do not have to get as perfect a shot to
still get the critical hit. Beware! Do not hit it too many times and
definitely do not break his mask because then you will not get the critical hit.

I know that this secret mission is very hard and frustrating, but give it time,
and you will be a pro. Learning to kill these foes in one hit can also help
you tremendously when you fight them in the regular missions.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 2
      -
Phantom Baby (Shoot and kill 100 Phantom Babies in under 30 seconds)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +100
DIFFICULTY: *--------- (1/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Use Handguns, not Shotgun. If you do use items, simply drop a
holy water. Devil Trigger is not necessary, but it is easier
(I save DT for Phantom Baby 2).
LOCATION: Mission 4 - Black Knight
ACCESSED: At the very beginning of the level, simply turn around and go back
into the door that leads to the area where you fought Phantom.

Put on your handguns before you enter the level. Now, right after you press
the 'x' button to start the mission, start shooting. You should be standing
right next to a big pile of Phantom Babies, so start blasting them away as
fast as you can. When you hit 45 or so, go strait forward from the door you
just came in and go to the first pole/pillar on the opposite side of the red
carpet. You should encounter another pile of Phantom Babies. Blast away
about 30 more. You should now be at about 75 phantom babies with about 14
seconds left. Now stop shooting and run like a madman toward the altar. You
will find big piles of phantom babies on both your left and right a few feet
before the altar. You should have about 10 seconds left; plenty of time to
blast 25 more away. Remember to fire the handguns as fast as you can when you
are by a pile of Phantom Babies, take no breaks. You can use Holy Water to
finish the job right away, but if you are like me and don't like to use items,
then stick to the handguns. Also, you can DT, but I save it for Phantom Baby
2, the next secret mission (NOTE: If you use DT now, you can refill it if you
beat Phantom in the hall, thus having DT for the next secret mission). Either
way you do it, you should come out with a BLUE ORB PIECE (NOTE: It will drop
by the door). After you have completed the mission, feel free to blast the
remaining Phantom Babies and pick up some extra orbs.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 3
      -
Phantom Baby 2 (Kill 100 Phantom Babies in under 30 seconds with no weapons.
You have to step on them.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +100
DIFFICULTY: ***------- (3/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Use DT, it makes it so much easier.
LOCATION: Mission 4 Black Knight
ACCESSED: Run all the way down the hallway that you started in. It is the last
room on the right. This is the room with the God of Time statue in
          it.

(NOTE: Turn on DT as soon as possible when you start the level. If you choose
not to use DT, that's okay, because you can still follow this strategy. DT
just makes it easier) Right after you start run directly toward the God of
Time statue as quickly as possible. However, do not go up the little
staircase. When you hit the base of the stairs, turn back around, and bolt for
the door you just entered (NOTE: Be careful, the camera angles get a little
tricky when you try to change directions). You should now be at about 50-60.
Do this again to pick up another 20-30. You should have a good 15 seconds
left. This is the only part where it becomes remotely hard. The Phantom
Babies have spread out by now, so you will get them in small amounts instead of
big numbers. Just run around looking for a semi-big amount. You should finish
with a few seconds remaining. Remember that you cannot use weapons while
doing the mission, you will fail. However, after you complete the mission and
the BLUE ORB PIECE appears by the door, feel free to blow the rest away with
your handguns.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 4
      -
The Three Beasts (Fight and kill three Shadows, you only have one try)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +100
DIFFICULTY: *********- (9/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Go in with full heath, and full DT. Your DT Gauge should be
about 4 now, and you will need all of it. Stinger level one
                 or two.
LOCATION: Mission 4 Black Knight (AFTER you beat the Shadow in the big
                                    Fountain Room)
ACCESSED: Hit the Trigger Pad in the Biplane room and take the elevator to the
Lower Level. This activates the mission.

Fighting three Shadows is not easy, but stay with me, and you'll be fine.
When you get down to the arena containing the shadows, be ready because the
three doors containing them will open quickly. Right after you get off
of the elevator, head to the door that is nearest DANTE'S left (NOTE: Based
on the camera angle, it is not necessarily your left). DT, and blast the
Shadow 3-5 times with the shotgun, but also keep moving to avoid the attacks
of the other Shadows. He will reveal his core very quickly; this is your
chance. Keep your DT on, and Stinger the core about three times. If you
complete this, when he returns to his original "dog" form, he will
be glowing red. This means he is near death. He will become more
aggressive, but that is okay, stay with him and keep blasting him. He will
eventually explode, causing damage to you if you are near-by, but giving
you red orbs and one green orb that gives you a lot of health (NOTE: When
the Shadow turns red, he will lunge at you and try to grab you. If he does
grab you and you are NOT in DT state, the Shadow will slam you twice, and
then explode, causing significant damage. Don't worry though, after he
explodes, he is dead even though he caught you in his trap). Don't get
cocky, you still have two more left. Target in on one, and blast it with
all you've got. You can DT to shoot them with the shotgun, but remember
you still need DT to do significant damage to the core. Try to kill Shadow
two before you take on number three (NOTE: Use the same strategy to dispose of
shadow number two as you did with the first one). After you are done with
the second one, kill the third, obviously using the same strategy you used
on the other two. Get your BLUE ORB PIECE that the last Shadow drops, and
ride the elevator back up to officially complete the mission.

This is a hard mission, and takes some practice at killing Shadows, but try to
come up with a strategy or routine for fighting them, and you will soon get it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 5
      -
One-Eyed Evil (Let one Kyklopes kill the second. You can't use any weapons)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: *******--- (7/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Go in with full heath or near full health because the Guiding
Light is taking it away. Also, have a good amount of DT
incase your health does get low. Air Hike would be very
helpful, but it is not required.
LOCATION: Mission 7 Holding the Key of Ardor
ACCESSED: By going into the room with all the sewers on the wall where you
picked up the rusty key in the previous level.

This one is a very annoying secret mission. It can take a while to get used to
and even then it can cause some problems. A way to make this mission very easy
is to utilize the back two corners and the pipes that border them. This is a
good way to do it, and worked beautifully for me. Enough talk, here we go.
As I said before, this way involves using BOTH back corners (NOTE: The back two
corners are the two that are furthest from the lone door). As soon as the
mission starts, one of the Kyklopes will be standing at the door and will try
to swipe you right away. You can avoid this easily by rolling away. When you
get a few steps past him, an unseen Kyklopes has just jumped and is ready to
pounce on you (NOTE: Watch his shadow in the water, and maneuver accordingly.
The best way to avoid it is to hug the wall and jump when the bug is on his
way down). Now run to the back left corner (NOTE: Dante's left, not
necessarily yours based on the camera angle). One of the Kyklopes should hit
the other with his rock attack that is meant for you. Jump on the two pipes
that boarder the corner on the left and right, and keep moving back and forth
on top of them. One of them should shortly throw another rock attack at you,
hitting his partner again (NOTE: If the rocks are hitting his partner, it will
say 'Cool' on the top of your screen). Now move to the other back corner,
again the rocks will hit one of the Kyklopes and not you. Be careful, they
will also try to jump and crush you; however, rolling out of the way, or just
jumping to another pipe easily avoids this. When they jump, they will most
likely land on their partner, causing some damage too. Also, if you stay in
one corner to long, they will throw rocks up at you, and this move can be
hard to get away from. Keep moving from pipe to pipe, and from corner to
corner, always staying mobile. Remember that if you are getting low in
health, you can use DT to restore it a little. Use this same strategy until
one of them is dead. If you have done this correctly, obviously using no
weapons, a BLUE ORB PIECE will appear. When this has happened, you can kill
the other using weapons for some red orbs and a much-needed green one. Exit
through the door to end the mission.

ALTERNATE STRATEGY
One of the factors that makes this mission so difficult is that your health is
decreasing all the way through it. However, this can be easily fixed by going
to the bedroom and putting the Guiding Light in the sum emblem and THEN going
back to do this secret mission. Now your life will not be decreasing and you
can do this mission at full health all the way through. Watch out if you do use
this strategy though! If you are going for an S-Rank on the overall mission
your time might be too high and you will not get it.

This mission is a very annoying one, and it takes some practice. Stay with it,
don't break your PS2, and you will be fine.

----------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 6
      -
Wandering Ghosts (Get the Blue Orb Piece in the sky)
----------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: **-------- (2/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: AIR HIKE, it is almost a must. Also, at least have 3 DT
Symbols full so you can use Air Raid when you are high enough,
if you need it, to fly to the blue orb piece (NOTE: you can
build up your DT by hitting the Death Scythe a few times at
the start of Mission 11 "Fate").
LOCATION: Mission 11 Fate
ACCESSED: By going in the door directly behind you at the beginning of the
mission that leads back to the courtyard where you just fought the
Kyklopes at the end of the last mission.

Finally, after some rather annoying secret missions, you get a very easy
one. Right when you start, five Sin Scissors will descend. DO NOT KILL
THEM YET, you will need them to get the orb! Let them come down until they
are almost even with you (NOTE: Keep moving to avoid their scissor attacks).
Now, target one of the Sin Scissors and wait until he is not circling around
you and is almost at a stand still; this is your chance. First jump off of
the ground, Then jump again off of the Sin Scissor, and Finally press the
jump button a third time in mid-air to use Air Hike (NOTE: You can also
target a group of Sin Scissors and jump off of them easier because you do not
have to be as accurate with your jump as you would have to be with only one
Sin Scissor). At the top of the Air Hike jump, Air Raid and fly to the BLUE
ORB PIECE (NOTE: If on your Air Hike jump, you get the blue orb piece without
using Air Raid, all the better for you). After you have gotten the orb, you
can now kill the Sin Scissors for some easy red orbs and one green orb.
This mission is very easy, and you should get it on one of the first couple
tries.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 7
      -
Water Cell (While underwater, kill all the Blades with the Needlegun and get
            the Blue Orb Piece)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +100
DIFFICULTY: ****------ (4/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Just the good ole' Needlegun. You do not have to worry about
DT since you are underwater and you can not DT underwater.
LOCATION: POST Mission 13 and PRE Mission 14
ACCESSED: You start off in the water right outside the ship when you are in the
void between Mission 13 and 14. Go back into the ship and go to the
Captain's Room where you picked up the Staff of Hermes. Go up and
touch the Captain, who is sitting in his chair, and then press the
"X" button. The secret mission then begins.

You will have to kill eight Blades in a "tank" of water to complete this
mission (NOTE: A handy counter in the bottom left corner of the screen will
keep track of the Blades you have killed out of eight). You have no time
limit, so you can take all the time you want. You will be restricted in area,
but you still have a very large amount of water to work with. Okay, enough
talk, lets rock!

You will start off staring directly at four Blades (NOTE: The Blades weak
spot is their underbelly, so if they try to swim over you, blast them away).
The other four are located on the outer edges of the tank. Right when the
mission begins, lock on to one of the Blades that is right in front of you
and unload the needlegun on him until he lays lifeless in the water (NOTE:
Keep moving to avoid their claws that they swipe at you and the talons that
glow red which they throw at you). Pick up the Orbs that he drops and move
away from the pack Blades and then kill one of the Blades on the outer edge
of the tank. You should now have killed 2/8. From this point on, try to
fight the Blades one on one, if you take on a pack, you will be hurt pretty
bad. Avoid their talon projectile move, and you shouldn't take too much
damage at all. Only one or two of the Blades will drop green orbs, so try
to conserve your health. When you kill the last Blade, the BLUE ORB PIECE
will show up with the other red orbs that the final Blade left behind. Pick
it up to complete the mission and to be transferred back to the captain's
room.

SECRET MISSION 8
      -
Treasure Of the Reaper (Defeat the three Shadows in tight quarters)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: *******--- (7/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Full DT, or very close to it. Also, Full Health if you know
you get hit a lot when fighting Shadows.
LOCATION: Mission 15 Wheel of Destiny
ACCESSED: You have to go way back into Mission 14 to get this. At the
beginning of Mission 15, turn around and go back through the door
that you are standing right in front of. Then, go all the way back
to the elevator that is by the waterfall. Go down the elevator and
go to DANTE'S LEFT. Right before you are about to step on the moving
floor with the spikes, you should see a picture with a skeleton on
it. Go next to it, and press the action button.

This is just a little introduction to tell you a major TIP for this secret
mission. As I said above, you have to fight three Shadows, but if you plan it
correctly, you only have to fight one at a time. Here is the trick: When you
begin your battle with the first Shadow, stay by the skeleton picture. If you
move toward the elevator, you will get the second Shadow involved, thus
fighting two at once. Obviously you can not go the other way because you
would be standing on the spike/moving floor, and thus be dead in a second.
When you have finally defeated the first one, now you can go toward the
elevator to fight the second. However, when you are battling the second
Shadow, slowly move back toward the picture to avoid getting the third Shadow
involved. When the second one is defeated run even farther past the elevator
to encounter the third Shadow. There are obviously no restrictions on
fighting him, considering he is the last.

Now that we got that out of the way, it is time to talk about how to beat the
shadows. Remember that you have a very small/narrow place to work, so you
will have to be twice as fast on defense. I have broken this Secret Mission
into fighting strategies for each of the three Shadows. Here it is.

SHADOW NUMBER 1
When you activate the Secret Mission, the first Shadow will jump out of the
picture and he will try to hit you with his Flying Knife move. If hit, it
will take a good amount of life off (NOTE: This move can be easily avoided by
simply rolling out of the way. DON'T try to jump out of the way, you will be
hit almost every time). Remember, keep him by the picture and don't get the
second shadow involved yet. He will lunge at you a lot, so keep jumping and
hitting him with shotgun blast after shotgun blast. When he shows his core,
DT Singer him a good three times. He should now be glowing red. He is now
even more aggressive, so you will have to be more alert on defense (NOTE: He
will lunge at you even more during this time, and if he catches you, you will
lose significant damage). Keeping hitting him with shotgun blasts and he
should soon explode. He will drop red orbs and a much need green orb that
gives you a lot of life.

SHADOW NUMBER 2
Before you go into battle with the second Shadow, put on your handguns. You
put them on for this reason: the second Shadow will always try to hit you with
his Head Spike move right after he sees you. When he does this, jump on the
spike and hit him with DT handguns, he should reveal his core right away.
Now, simply DT Stinger the core, again about three times, and he should be
glowing red. From there put back on your shotgun and blast him until he
explodes. If you can not jump on the spike, don't worry, and just simply
avoid the attack all together. Put on your shotgun and use the same strategy
as you did with Shadow number one. Remember, don't get the third shadow
involved yet. When he has been defeated, there again will be red orbs and a
green orb that will give you plenty of life.

SHADOW NUMBER 3
You have defeated the harder two, so this one should be a breeze. Just run
farther past the elevator away from the picture and the battle should begin.
You can put on you handguns again incase the third shadow does his Head Spike
move. If he does not do it however (NOTE: Sometimes he will do a different
move, so just be ready) put your shotgun back on and start blasting away. Use
the same strategy that you used on the other two Shadows for an easy victory.
The final Shadow will drop red orbs a green orb and a BLUE ORB PIECE.
Congratulations on completing a difficult secret mission.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 9
      -
Stairway of Tranquility (Run up the stairway formed by Sargasso and get the
                         Blue Orb Piece)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +100
DIFFICULTY: *--------- (1/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Three or Four symbols of DT just incase you need to Air Raid
to get to the Blue Orb Piece.
LOCATION: Mission 16 Nightmare of Darkness
ACCESSED: When you start Mission 16 go up the elevator and out the blue doors
to exit the Coliseum, then turn around and go back through the blue
doors to reenter the Coliseum, then the Secret Mission should begin.

This is a very easy secret mission, all you have to do is climb the stairway
formed by Sargasso's. Obviously, each level of Sargasso's is a little higher
off the ground than the one before it.

When the secret mission begins, the camera will swing around and give you a
perfect camera view behind Dante and facing the stairway. Now, run toward the
first Sargasso and jump just before you get to him (NOTE: Do not just stand in
front of him because he will try to attack you). Now jump another 2-3 times
and you should reach the very top Sargasso. When you are about to jump off of
him, pull back on the control stick so when Dante does jump, it will be
backwards (NOTE: If you have DT, you can just jump off the Sargasso regular,
then put on Air Raid when Dante is at the peak of his jump and fly to the Blue
Orb Piece). Either way you do it, you should be able to grab a nice BLUE ORB
PIECE in the air above the stairway.

--------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 10
      -
Shadow of Darkness (Hunt down and kill all four shadows)
--------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: *******--- (7/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Full DT and Full Heath. You should be used to these
recommendations by now,, considering you have fought them so
                 many times.
LOCATION: Mission 16 Nightmare of Darkness
ACCESSED: By going back to the Airplane room AFTER successfully defeating
          Nightmare.

This is the last secret mission involving Shadows, so be thankful. However,
you still have some work to do with them so don't get cocky. The four Shadows
are broken up between three rooms. There are 2 IN THE AIRPLANE ROOM, 1 IN THE
MAIN ROOM, and 1 IN THE ROOM WITH THE STEEL GATE AND THE DOOR THAT LEADS OUT
OF THE CASTLE. If you back track through a room you have been in, or go into
a room not containing a Shadow, you will automatically fail the mission, so be
careful. For this mission, you NEVER have to fight more than one Shadow at a
time if you encounter them correctly. This guide will tell you how to do
that, but you have to be careful. Here we go.

SHADOW NUMBER 1
LOCATION - AIRPLANE ROOOM
There are going to be two Shadows on the left wing of the airplane, one behind
the other. The trick is to fight the front one first, and them the back one
second. To get the first one involved, stand just on top of the lone step in
the room, but line yourself up with the Shadow. Now, put on you shotgun.
Jump, then use Air Hike, and finally at the peak of the jump, take ONE good
blast with the shotgun. Fall to the ground and move back onto the bottom level
of the room to avoid getting the second Shadow involved. The first Shadow
should start his attack process by trying to hit you with a Flying Knife, so
roll out of the way. From this point on, use your regular Shadow fighting
strategy, which you should have perfected by now. Pick up the red orbs and
the green orb that he drops, and get ready for battle number two.

SHADOW NUMBER 2
LOCATION AIRPLANE ROOM
You get a little break between Shadow number 1 and 2, considering the second
Shadow will not attack you until you attack him. When you are ready, jump onto
the left wing of the plane and pound it with as many shotgun blasts as you can.
Shadow number 2, again, should try to hit you with his Flying Knife move. Roll
out of the way and continue to punish him with your shotgun. Again, use your
regular Shadow fighting strategy to dispose of him. Pick up the red orbs and
the green orb that he drops, and you are ready to leave that room.

GO THROUGH THE CORRECT DOOR
Make sure you exit through the correct door, or you will have to start the
mission over. Go through the BLUE DOOR, this one will lead to the Main Hall.
The other door will lead back to the curved hallway, resulting in a failure of
the mission.

SHADOW NUMBER 3
LOCATION MAIN HALL
This is the room with the Horse Statue. At first you will not realize that
there is one in here, but he is. He is on the broken ledge in which you got
the Blue Orb Piece in Mission One "Curse of the Bloody Puppets." Jump up on
the ledge and blast him with the shotgun. Watch out, he will try his Flying
Knife move (NOTE: You can not see the Shadow directly, but when you see your
aimed shotgun aim high in the air, you know it is coming). Jump off the ledge
to avoid being hit, and the Shadow will follow you down. Bring him out into
the open space at the base of the stairs. Again, use your regular Shadow
fighting strategy to dispose of him quickly. Pick up his red orbs and the
green one, and you are off to your last Shadow.

GO THROUGH THE CORRECT DOOR
Again, you have to exit through the correct door. This time, go through the
RED DOORS, and this will lead to the room with the steel gate and the door that
leads out of the castle. The other door will lead back to the Airplane Room,
and result in a failure of the mission, so be careful.

SHADOW NUMBER 4
LOCATION STEEL GATE ROOM WITH DOOR THAT LEADS OUT OF CASTE
Right when you get through the door, be ready to fight. This is a harder fight
considering you have a very small amount of space to work with. He will also
start out with the Flying Knife move, so time it right, and roll out of the
way. You have to be moving all the time to avoid his attacks. Use Air Hike to
avoid his lunges, but also be firing your shotgun at the same time. Be in a
very defensive mode when you fight this one. If you keep these tips in mind,
you should dispose of him relatively easy. Pick up the red orbs he drops, that
green orb, and the much deserved BLUE ORB PIECE.

Rejoice! Because this was your last secret mission containing Shadows.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 11
      -
Blue Gem in the Sky (Get the Blue Orb Piece located high above the broken
                     Bridge)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: *****----- (5/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: Full DT and Full Health before you try to get the Blue Orb
(NOTE: You can build up your DT while in the secret mission by
taunting and hitting the Death Scythe).
LOCATION: Mission 17 - Parted Memento
ACCESSED: Right at the beginning of the level, turn around and jump into the
painting that shows the broken bridge. When you have done that, you
must get over the bridge WITHOUT falling underneath it. You can use
the platforms, or simply Air Raid. If you do fall in, you must
re-load the level and try again.

Contrary to popular belief, this is a very simple secret mission, but people
still do it the hard way. The "traditional" way is not the easiest way to do
it, so DON'T USE THE LAUNCH PADS ON THE GROUND TO GET THE ORB. This can be
hard, so stay away from it: instead, use this way:

Start off by simply getting across to the opposite side of the broken bridge.
You can use Air Raid or simply use the platforms, just make it across without
falling in (NOTE: If you do fall in, you must re-load the level and try again).
Now, work on getting your DT gauge to about nine or ten. This involves
taunting and beating on the Death Scythe until it is that high. Now, there are
two ways to complete the rest of the mission.

OPTION ONE
Kill the Death Scythe (NOTE: If you do this first, make sure you do not use DT,
because after the Death Scythe is dead, there is no other way to raise it). To
kill this vile enemy, wait until he comes down to swipe you, and then beat him
down with Alastor. Pick up his orbs. Now, head to the door that leads back
into the castle, but don't go in. There should be a ledge above the door. Go
to the side of the door, then jump to the first level of the ledge, and then
again to the highest tip. Now jump, then use Air Hike. At the peak of your
Air Hike jump, put on Air Raid and simply fly to the BLUE ORB PIECE and keep
going all the way to the other side of the bridge. Simply enter the picture on
the left to officially complete the mission.

OPTION TWO
Do NOT kill the Death Scythe first. Instead, after you have nine or ten DT
gauges full, head to the door that leads back into the castle. There should be
a ledge above the door. Go to the side of the door, then jump to the first
level of the ledge, and then again to the highest tip. Now jump, then use Air
Hike. At the peak of your Air Hike jump, put on Air Raid and simply fly to the
BLUE ORB PIECE and keep going all the way to the other side of the bridge
(NOTE: The Death Scythe does attack you in the air, so watch out). Simply
enter the picture on the left to officially complete the mission. This way
gives you the option to kill the Death Scythe or just let him be. Choose
wisely because he is a hard foe to beat.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SECRET MISSION 12
      -
Hidden Bangle (Navigate the maze and defeat the Dragon to pick up the Bangle
               of Time)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BONUS POINTS: +200
DIFFICULTY: ********-- (8/10)
RECOMMENDATIONS: You should try to have full, or near full DT. The more DT the
easier this secret mission becomes. Other than this, you are
                 good to go.
LOCATION: Mission 21 Living Cave
ACCESSED: In the first circular room you start out in, there should be a God of
Time statue. Now, go and walk up to the wall across from the Statue
so you are touching it and press the action button. After you do
          this, the mission should start.

This is the last Secret Mission! Yes, they are all over after this! But don't
celebrate just yet, because this is one of the longest ones. There are two
major parts to it: 1) The Maze 2) The Bangle of Time Room. Both of the parts
have their own challenges with different enemies. However, both parts do have
major rewards. I have broken this Walkthrough down into the two major parts of
the mission, here it is.

PART ONE: THE MAZE
As the name implies, there will be lots of twists and turns that are confusing
if you do not know which way to go, but if you follow this guide, you should be
all right (NOTE: It is not really a maze because all the tunnels lead to one
point, but I am making sure that you get the Full Blue Orb and that you don't
backtrack at all). Okay, when the mission begins, start running down the
hallway. You should come to a fork in the road, go RIGHT. After a little more
running you should come to a room with a Nobody and a FULL BLUE ORB. Ghost
Faces will now cover the doors preventing you from leaving. To break these
seals, simply beat the Nobody (NOTE: If the Nobody is the big version then use
Air Raid, if it is the small version then save DT and use regular Alastor or
Ifrit). After the seals have been broken you should have three choices of doors
to go through: 1) The one you just came through 2) A door to the left of the
fork in the road 3) A door to the right of the fork in the road. You should
choose the door to the RIGHT. You should now be running on a path that takes
you uphill. Again, you should enter a room with a Nobody. Defeat the nobody to
break the Ghost Faces, and again you should have a choice of three doors to go
through: 1) The one you just came through 2) A door to the left of the fork in
the road 3) A door to the right of the fork in the road. You should choose the
door to the LEFT. You should now be running on a path that takes you downhill.
At the bottom you will reach a small empty room, so head out of that room by
going LEFT. In the next room you will reach your final Nobody and the end of
the maze. Defeat the Nobody to break the Ghost Faces, then slash the green door
and go through it to enter Part Two.

PART TWO: BANGLE OF TIME ROOM
Right when you enter through the green door, hug the wall on the right side, but
keep moving. You should see little stone steps just around the circular corner.
Jump up on them and then to the next platform. You should be staring face to
face with a fire-shooting Dragon. Use Alastor to pound away on him, but save
your DT. After you have defeated him, you will see a cut-scene of two Frost's
waiting for you on the ground below. Put on your Ifrit's because you have to
fight them if you want the Bangle. This is what you saved your DT for, so use
it to kill them easily. After you have defeated both of them, go to the right
side of the room to find a Red Orb Fountain. After you have destroyed the
fountain, go back onto the platform where you fought the Dragon. Now, run to
the far side to discover another platform. Jump on this and go to the top to
find floating eyes. Ride them to the other side, and pick up the Bangle of
Time. Enjoy it, because you worked hard for it.

     ---------------------------------------------------------------------

CONGRATULATIONS! You have finally done it. In completing these missions, you
have completed some of the hardest scenarios that Devil May Cry has to offer.
You should take satisfaction in knowing that you have completed these, I know
that I did. Enjoy it, and continue to play.

As I said at the beginning of this FAQ, there is a Bonus Point Chart at the end

Tim and Judy Grob (My Parents):
For putting up with all of my playing, and buying some of my games.

Jim Padar (My Uncle):
For helping me with "computer language" and for helping me get this guide to
  gameFAQs.com properly.

Devil May Cry Board at GameFAQs.com:
For helping me with the locations of some of the secret missions. Thanks
  guys (and girls)!

You, the reader:
For checking this guide out, I must thank-you. Hope it helped.
