Version 1.0

game are in this FAQ. More is soon to come, including walkthroughs and tons of
secrets in the game. I hope you enjoy this FAQ.

II. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
______________________________________________________________________________

Hello! I take it that if you are reading this part of this FAQ, you are
probably pretty bored. My name is Bryant and I am writing a FAQ on Harvest
Moon: Back To Nature because my obsession of Harvest Moon is starting to get
really high. I am currently 13 years old. Yes, I know, I know, a first time
FAQ writer. I will try my best to write a good FAQ on Harvest Moon, with all
the possible secrets and rumors. Also, if you want, you can feel free to send
me (at BryantT13@aol.com) contributions to this FAQ and I will give you the
proper credit that you deserve. Well, I hope you like my FAQ. (And soon to be
walkthrough too!)

III. COMPARING N64 WITH PLAYSTATION
______________________________________________________________________________

In this section of the FAQ, I will tell the differences between Harvest
Moon 64 with Harvest Moon: Back To Nature.

- Harvest Moon: Back To Nature has the same "2 and one-half" graphics as
Harvest Moon 64, but has sharper colors and is in more detail.

- There are more crops in Back to Nature then Harvest Moon 64.

- The characters live in different houses than in Harvest Moon 64.

- There is a walk-in stable for your horse in Harvest Moon: Back To Nature.

- There are different and more festivals in the Playstation version like the
chicken sumo festival and the tomato fight festival.

- You can "raise" fish in Harvest Moon: Back To Nature.

- In the other versions of the game, the people just stayed in one place the
whole day. In Harvest Moon: Back To Nature, the people are more life-like and
are sometimes hard to find during the day.

As you can see, Harvest Moon: Back To Nature is better than Harvest Moon
64. In my opinion, Harvest Moon: Back To Nature is a lot more fun to play
too!!! This game is one of the best games for Playstation, it even starts to
compare with the Final Fantasy Series.

V. THE BEGINNING
______________________________________________________________________________
You are a little boy and are supposed to go on a vacation with your dad.
(who knows where your mother is....) Just before your vacation, your dad has
been asked to go on a business trip. So, you get stuck having to go to your
grandfathers farm. You think it's going to be boring there with absolutely
nothing to do and you grandfather even tells you that there won't be much to
do since he is going to be to busy working on the farm. When you get there,
you meet a girl and become friends with her fast. You spend hours with her,
singing songs, playing games, and having a lot of fun. When it comes time for
you to come back home, you promise her that you will come back some day and
marry her.
Ten years have passed. When you visit your grandfathers farm, you find
out that he has passed away. The mayor comes and tells you he will give you
three years to fix up your grandfathers farm.(which is in a real wreck.) You
decide to try to fix up the farm and try to find the girl that you promised to
marry you.....

VI. CHARACTERS
______________________________________________________________________________

---------------*****Eligible Characters You Can Date/Marry*****---------------

Just to start off, there are 5 eligible girls you can date/marry. As
in Nintendo 64, the five young woman are Elli, Popuri, Ann, Maria, and Karen.
When you talk to the girls they have a little heart on the bottom of the
message. Each different kind of heart color means a different kind of
attraction towards you. To get the heart to a higher color, you have to be
nice to the girl and give her the things that she likes. I am still
experimenting with what the girls like and dislike, and will have more
information on that later. Well here are the different colors and meanings of
the hearts.

BLACK HEART- She wishes that she never met you and that you would move to
another town!!!
PURPLE HEART- She is indifferent.
BLUE HEART- She thinks you are attractive.
GREEN HEART- She starts to fall in love with you.
YELLOW HEART- She begins to go out on dates with you.
ORANGE HEART- She starts to think about marrying you.
RED HEART- She is madly in love with you and wants to marry you.

I will now go into more depth of each character that you can
date/marry and explain how they look.

KAREN- She has blonde hair. She is a lot nicer then she was in the Nintendo 64
version of the game.

ANN- She has red hair and is quite nice once you get to know her.

POPURI- She dyed her hair pink and she adores the animals in the forest.

ELLI- She has brown hair and her hair is cut short to her chin.

MARIA- She has black hair and glasses. She still works in the library, as in
the Nintendo 64 version, but the library is now two stories tall.

---------------------**********Other Characters**********---------------------

Mayor- He runs the town and controls it.
Zack- He picks up your crops in the shipping bin.

VII. TOOLS
______________________________________________________________________________
In this section, I will list the basic tools that you can use. Some of
these tools have never been in a Harvest Moon before.

      HAMMER
      SICKLE
      HOE
      AX
      WATERING CAN
      FISHING POLE
      BRUSH
      RUCKSACK
      MILKER
      CLIPPERS
      BASKET
      DOG BALL

______________________________________________________________________________
VIII. SEASONS
______________________________________________________________________________
As a lot of you people know, there are different seasons in the game.
These seasons are Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. You can grow different
crops in different seasons. When you play a new game, you will always start
out in the 1st of Spring. When I say that you can re-grow a crop, I mean that
as long as you keep on watering the crops, it will continue to produce
throughout the season without having to buy new seeds. I shall now explain
what crops you can grow in the different seasons.

      (((((*****SPRING*****)))))

TURNIPS- money you get for each crop: 60g- Days to fully grow: 4- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
POTATOES- money you get for each crop: 80g- Days to fully grow: 7- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
CABBAGE- money you get for each crop: 250g- Days to fully grow: 14- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
CUCUMBERS- money you get for each crop: 60g- Days to fully grow: 9- Can you
re-grow this crop?: YES
STRAWBERRIES- money you get for each crop: 30g- Days to fully grow: 8- Can
you re-grow this crop?: YES

      (((((*****SUMMER*****)))))

ONIONS- money you get for each crop: 80g- Days to fully grow: 7- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
PUMPKINS- money you get for each crop: 250g- Days to fully grow: 14- Can
you re-grow this crop?: NO
TOMATOES- money you get for each crop: 60g- Days to fully grow: 9- Can you
re-grow this crop?: YES
CORN- money you get for each crop: 100g- Days to fully grow: 14- Can you
re-grow this crop?: YES
PINEAPPLE- money you get for each crop: 500g- Days to fully grow: 20- Can
you re-grow this crop?: YES

      (((((*****FALL*****)))))

CARROTS- money you get for each crop: 120g- Days to fully grow: 7- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
SPINACH- money you get for each crop: 80g- Days to fully grow: 5- Can you
re-grow this crop?: NO
EGGPLANT- money you get for each crop: 80g- Days to fully grow: 9- Can you
re-grow this crop?: YES
SWEET POTATOES- money you get for each crop: 120g- Days to fully grow: 5-
Can you re-grow this crop?: YES
GREEN PEPPERS- money you get for each crop: 40g- Days to fully grow: 7- Can
you re-grow this crop?: YES

      (((((*****WINTER*****)))))

In the winter, you can't grow crops unless you have a hothouse. A
hothouse is like a mini greenhouse. There are no special seeds for the winter
so if you have the hothouse, you have to use some of the other seeds from the
other seasons. When you grow crops in the hothouse, you can make a little
extra money from the crops along if you are mining too!

______________________________________________________________________________
IX. ANIMALS
______________________________________________________________________________

      (((((*****CHICKENS*****)))))

Chickens are one of the most easiest and affordable animals in the game.
All you need to do to raise a chicken is feed it everyday. After you buy one
chicken, there is no need to buy anymore. You just have to hatch the rest of
the chickens in the incubator with the chickens egg. Each chicken only lays
one egg a day. After you extend your chicken coop from Gotz, you can buy a
mayonnaise maker that you can turn your eggs into mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is
also a lot more profitable then eggs so it is a good investment to buy one.

      (((((*****COWS*****)))))

Cows can be one the most profitable animals in the game but, They do
require a quite a bit of care. Before you buy a cow, you should plant plenty
of grass so that Yodel Ranch will sell you a cow. Everyday, you should brush
each cow, talk to them and feed them to keep it healthy and producing milk.
While your cows milk get some money in, the cheese maker will be more
profitable. In order to get the cheese maker, you need to expand your barn and
then buy it from the blacksmith. Also, the C.M. Potion will get your cow
pregnant so you can raise another cow. The only bad thing about the pregnancy
is that you can't milk the mother cow while she is pregnant.

      (((((*****SHEEP*****)))))

Just like cows, you need enough fodder for Yodel Ranch to sell one to
you. You also, like cows, have to brush, talk, and feed each sheep everyday.
The sheep produce wool every seven days and is worth a quite a bit of money.
If you upgrade the barn, you can buy a yarn maker machine from the blacksmith.
Yarn is worth a lot of money in this town. Also, like cows, you can pregnant
the sheep with a S.M Potion. You also can't shear the sheep when they are
pregnant.

      (((((*****DOG*****)))))

Your trusty old dog. You should pet your dog everyday and play ball with
him/her to make your dog happy. If you dog like you, and if you play ball with
your dog a lot, your dog will start to do better in Dog Races and with start
to protect your crops from wild animals. You also don't have to feed your dog.
Just like the old saying, a dog is a mans (or woman) best friend.

      (((((*****HORSE*****)))))

You should brush your horse daily to make him happy. Also, like your
dog, you don't have to feed your horse. You should try to be nice to your
horse to make him do good in the local horse race on the 18th of Spring. A lot
of towns people like a farmer that knows how to ride a well trained horse and
win in the horse race.

______________________________________________________________________________
X. FESTIVALS
______________________________________________________________________________

In this section of this FAQ, I will tell you the season and day of each
festival. There are a lot of different festivals in this game and each one of
them are fun to play.

      (((((*****SPRING*****)))))

GODDESS FESTIVAL- 8th of Spring
THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL- 14th of Spring
LOCAL HORSE RACE FESTIVAL- 18th of Spring
COOKING FESTIVAL- 22nd of Spring

      (((((*****SUMMER*****)))))

      (((((*****FALL*****)))))

______________________________________________________________________________
XI. WEATHER
______________________________________________________________________________

In this game, weather can be one of the most important things that will
help you or it could destroy your farm. When it rains or snows out, you don't
have to water your plants because the rain/snow will water the plants for
you(just thought I'd mention about that the rain/snow waters your plants
because my dad was watering his plants when it was raining out and he didn't
know that the rain/snow waters it for you), which is a good thing.
The bad thing about when it rains/snows out is that when you work in
bad weather, you have a higher chance of getting sick. Also, Hurricanes can
occur and they can wipe out some of you crops along with your greenhouse if
you have one and it can also kill some of your animals if they are outside(If
they are not killed, then they are probably sick and you would have to buy
medicine to make them better). If this happens, it could cost you a bundle to
fix up your farm, buy new animals, and/or buy medicine for your animals. So,
to prevent this, you should watch the weather channel on your television to be
prepared. Just wanted to warn you that weather is important in this game
because it can get to cost a lot of money if you didn't take any caution at
all.
