Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is the "sequel" to the original Zelda on the
Nintendo Entertainment System. The whole layout and gameplay aspects are
totally different in this game. There is much more of an RPG-type feel to this
game with the addition of magic, experience points/levels, and new sword
techniques. Also, this game is side scrolling in most parts, but is still
overhead when you're on the overworld. Although it isn't as well known or as
great as the others in the series are, this is still a game worth playing
sometime!

*At the end of a fierce fight, Link overthrew Ganon, took back the Triforce and
rescued Princess Zelda.
*However, is it all really finished?
*Many seasons have passed since then.

Hyrule was on the road to ruin. The power that the vile heart of Ganon had left
behind was causing chaos and disorder in Hyrule. What's more, even after the
fall of Ganon, some of his underlings remained, waiting for Ganon's return.

The key to Ganon's return was the blood of Link - the valiant lad that
overthrew the King of Evil. Ganon would be revived by sacrificing Link and
sprinkling his blood on the ashes of Ganon. Meanwhile, Link remained in the
little kingdom of Hyrule and lent his hand to its restoration. But
circumstances did not look very good.

One day a strange mark, exactly like the crest of the kingdom, appeared on the
back of Link's hand as he approached his 16th birthday. The worried Link went
to Impa, Princess Zelda's nursemaid who was shocked and frightened when she saw
the birthmark. When she regained her composure, she took Link to the North
Castle.

There was a door in the North Castle called "the door that does not open. "Only
the descendants of the Impa family who served the king knew how to open the
door. Impa took Link's left hand and pressed the back of it against the door.
There was a sound of a lock falling open, the door slowly creaked open and
there on an altar in the middle of the room lay a beautiful woman. "Here lies
the Princess Zelda." Impa began to speak calmly. "Link, the time has come when
I must tell you the legend of Zelda handed down in Hyrule. It is said that long
ago, when Hyrule was one country, a great ruler maintained the peace in Hyrule
using the Triforce. However, the king too was a child of man and he died. Then,
the prince of the kingdom should have become king and inherited everything, but
he could inherit the Triforce only in part. The Prince searched everywhere for
the missing parts, but could not find them. Then, a magician close to the king
brought him some unexpected news. Before he died, the king had said something
about the Triforce to only the younger sister of the prince, Princess Zelda.
The prince immediately questioned the princess, but she wouldn't tell him
anything. After the prince, the magician threatened to put the princess into an
eternal sleep if she did not talk, but even still, she said nothing."

"In his anger, the magician tried to cast a spell on the princess. The
surprised prince tried to stop him, but the magician fought off the prince and
went on chanting the spell. Then, when the spell was finally cast, Princess
Zelda fell on that spot and entered a sleep from which she might never awake.
At the same time, the magician also fell down and breathed his last."

"In his grief, the prince placed the princess in this room. He hoped that
someday she would come back to life. So that this tragedy would never be
forgotten, he ordered every female child born into the royal household should
be given the name Zelda."

From the stand next to the altar where Princess Zelda lay in a deep sleep, Impa
took the six crystals and a scroll with the same crest and handed them to Link.
"For generations, my family has been handed down these things which have been
set aside for a time when a great king will come. They are written in ancient
script that no one can read now. But you who have the crest may be able to read
it. It is said that the key to uniting the Triforce is hidden there. Now it is
time for you to read it."

Link glanced at the scroll half in doubt, but what do you know? Although he
never seen the letters before, he found that he could read them as if they were
talking to him.

This was written on the Scroll.

"You who'll control the Triforce of the future. I shall hand down to you the
secrets of the Triforce. There are three kinds of Triforce - Power, Wisdom, and
Courage. When these three are brought together, the Triforce will share its
maximum power. Of the three, I have left Power and Wisdom in the kingdom. But
the Triforce of Courage I have hidden for a reason.

Not everybody can use the Triforce. It requires a strong character with no evil
thoughts. But an inborn special quality is also necessary. Unfortunately, I
have not found such a person during my lifetime."

"Therefore, I have decided to cast a spell on all of Hyrule. A crest will
appear on a young man with that character, who has been brought up correctly,
has gained many kinds of experiences and reached a certain age. But, what will
happen if someone else uses the Triforce before then? If it is misused, it will
produce many evils."

"The Triforce of Courage is hidden in the Great Palace in the Valley of Death
on the largest island in Hyrule. However, to enter you must first fight the
guardians and undo the 'binding force.' When you have defeated the guardians,
which I made to prevent enemies from invading the six palaces in Hyrule, set a
crystal in the forehead of the statue you find. When you have set crystals in
all of the statues in the six palaces, the 'binding force' placed on the Valley
of Death will be removed and you will be able to enter the great palace. There
you must fight the last guardian. And you can obtain the Triforce only by
defeating that guardian.

There's nothing to fear. You are the one to get the Triforce. You are the
beacon of hope for Hyrule."

Impa implored Link, who raised his head slowly after reading the scroll. "The
magic spell cast upon the Princess Zelda will sure to be broken if the Triforce
is used.

Please, Link. Unite the Triforce and save the princess. And bring back peace to
Hyrule."

Link nodded silently in approval, and left the room after taking a long glance
at the altar.

Then with a magical sword in his left hand and a magical shield in his right,
he set off alone on his long travels. At that time, Ganon's underlings were
calling up new allies from the Underworld, and were beginning to work
devilishly towards the revival of Ganon.

North Castle
------------

You start the game in front of the altar where Zelda is sleeping inside of the
North Castle. There isn't anything really important to do here, so just head
left or right out of the castle into the overworld.

From here, just head east along the path towards Rauru. Be sure to walk off the
path into the grassy plains or the forest to fight some enemies and gain some
experience. After you gain a Life Level, head into Rauru, which is almost
directly east of the North Castle.

Rauru
-----

In Rauru, go left through town all the way to the 5th house, where you'll see a
lady in blue come out of it. Talk to her and she'll let you come into the
house; now follow her inside. Go right and into the basement, then go up to the
sage to learn the Shield spell. Now, go back up and leave the house, and then
go left out of Rauru.

From Rauru, head north and through the forest until you reach a cave. Enter it,
but be careful because it's dark inside and you can't see anything. About
halfway through the cave, you can probably make out something crawling towards
you; it's a Lowder! Defeat it, then continue left and to the exit of the cave.
Back in the overworld, go right, then south to the yellow path. Follow the path
and you'll automatically enter a side-scrolling scene where you have to jump
across many ledges while trying not to get hit by those bubbles that are
floating upward. Get through this scene, and then continue down the path to a
forest area and a grassy section in the middle. Go into the grassy area and
into a side-scrolling scene; just go right and get the Heart Container on the
ground, but watch out for the Goriya throwing boomerangs at you to the right!
Defeat it and then leave the area, then go back north along the path, through
the scene with the bubbles, then you'll end up back in the desert. Continue
north and you'll see a palace; enter it and you'll be in Palace 1.

Palace 1
--------

From the start, go right and down the elevator to enter the palace itself. Go
left while defeating the Mini-Horseheads that are coming your way, then enter
the next room. In this room, defeat the Bots if they drop down to attack, then
continue left. Defeat the Stalfos, then go left and defeat another
Mini-Horsehead and take the Key at the end. Now, go all the way left to the
previous room and pass the elevator that you came down on. Defeat any
Mini-Horseheads and continue right to the next room. Here, go right and unlock
the door, then continue right while defeating any Mini-Horseheads you encounter
while also trying to avoid the Skull Ball floating around. Now, continue right
to the next room. In this room, go all the way right and defeat the 2 Stalfos
along the way. You'll also see an elevator going down; DON'T go on it just yet!
Instead, go right to the next room. Here, defeat the Bots and the Stalfos, then
continue to the next elevator; go up it to the upper floor. Go right, then up
the "steps" while defeating any of the Mini-Horseheads along the way, then take
the Key at the top and continue to the next room. Defeat some more
Mini-Horseheads while heading right, and then defeat the creature that's
throwing things at you then take the Key there. Now, backtrack left back to the
previous room all the way to the elevator. Go back down it to the next floor,
then get off and go left. Continue through this room to the next one, and then
keep going until you reach the elevator going down. This time, go down it and
head left while trying to avoid the many Skull Balls floating around. When you
get to the following room, defeat the 2 Bots, then jump up the steps and run
across the bridge that disintegrates as you cross it. Be sure to take the P Bag
halfway across it to get 50 experience points, then drop down the steps at the
other side and defeat any the Bots if you want to, then enter the next room.

In this room, go left and defeat the creature that throws things at you, then
go left some more and defeat the orange Ironknuckle. Now, unlock the door and
take the Candle in that room! Now, backtrack right a few rooms back to the
elevator, and then go up it to the other floor. Now, go right to the next room,
then continue right to the next elevator. Go right and take the Fairy if your
health is low, then go down the elevator to the bottom floor. Defeat the
Ironknuckle, then jump up the steps made by small blocks. Defeat the 2 Stalfos
along the way, then continue to the next room. In this room, defeat that
monster that throws stuff at you, and then unlock the door behind it with your
Key. Now, continue right and defeat the Ironknuckle, then head to the next
room. Here, go right and you'll enter a fight against the boss, Horsehead! Read
the Bosses section of this guide to find out how to beat it. Take the Key after
you beat it, then unlock the door to the right and head to the statue. After
the crystal goes into the statue and you gain a level, go right and exit the
now complete palace!

Back in the overworld, go down and left and enter the cave. Go through it and
you'll be back in the forest area north of Rauru. Now, go left and onto the
yellow path. Follow the path up and left until you reach a small patch of
forest at the side of the path. Enter it and head right while avoiding or
defeating the Aches, and then take the P Bag to get 50 experience points. Now,
head right out of this area, then go up and you'll see a cave in the desert.
Enter the cave and head left, defeating the Aches and Octoroks along the way.
Then, defeat the Red Goriya at the end, then take the Trophy. Now, go back
right and exit the cave. Go back down to the path and head left some more. Go
down through the forest area all the way down until you see a cave; go in it.
Go right and defeat the Lowders and Octoroks that occupy the cave, then take
the Magic Container at the end. Now go back left and exit the cave and head
back up to the path. Continue left along the path to the town of Ruto.

Ruto
----

In this town, go left and talk to the lady in red in front of the 1st house to
recover all your life if you need to. Also, talk to the old lady by the 2nd
house to recover your magic if you need to, then continue left to the 2nd
scene. Walk past the 1st house of this scene and talk to the lady in red that
comes out of it. She'll let you come inside because you brought the Trophy!
Now, go right and down to the basement. There, learn the Jump spell from the
sage, and then go back up and out of the house. Now, go left and exit the town.

After you're outside Ruto, head south along the path and you'll see a cave.
Enter the cave and head right and defeat the Octoroks and Red Goriyas then
continue right to the next room. In the next room, defeat the Lowders and the
Red Goriyas, then go right to the next room. There, defeat the Aches and the
Acheman that fly down from the ceiling, and then cast the Jump spell on
yourself. Now, go right and jump onto the higher ledge, which you couldn't do
otherwise. Then, just continue to the right to the cave's exit. Back outside,
go south as far as you can go then head east across the swamplands. Keep going
east to reach the path again. You'll see an area of forest above as well as
below the path. There's a cabin hidden in the forest area north of the path
where you can meet Bagu. Since it's hard to explain how to do this in words,
please refer to my GIF for help on finding Bagu. After you find the cabin, go
inside and talk to Bagu. Then, leave the cabin and get back to the path, and
head left and down to the bridge. Go across the bridge while trying to avoid
the Bago-Bagos and their fireballs. Keep going right until you reach the other
side, then go down and right. You'll see a lone patch of forest; go into it.
Head right while either defeating or avoiding the Megmats and take the P Bag to
get 100 experience points! Now, head right out of this area, then go left and
down and enter the water town of Saria.

Saria
-----

When you enter Saria, go all the way left to the 2nd scene and enter the first
building in that scene. Check under the table by pressing B to find a Mirror
underneath it. Leave the building and go back to the first scene. Talk to the
lady dressed in blue that comes out of the house and she'll let you come
inside. Go right and down to the basement, then talk to the sage to learn the
Life spell. Now, go back and leave the house and go all the way left to the 3rd
scene of town. If you needed the health or magic, talk to the old lady in
orange or the taller lady in red by the last couple houses in the second scene.
In the 3rd scene, enter the building and talk to the guy there. Now, leave that
building and a bridge will appear to the left. Walk across the bridge and
continue left to exit the town.

Now, head south and enter the cave there to be brought to the Death Mountain
"maze of caves". First, enter the cave to the right and once inside, head right
while defeating the Bots and Red Moblins, then keep going to the cave's exit.
In this area, go right and enter the next cave. Here, go right and defeat all
the Octoroks and the Blue Goriya then continue right and exit the cave. Now,
enter the cave to the right; inside this cave, go right and defeat the Bots and
Aches. When you reach the elevator, DON'T go up it; instead, keep going right
and defeat the orange Daira, then exit the cave. Now, go down and enter the
cave to the right. Here, cross the bridge while trying to avoid the annoying
Bago-Bagos, and then go right to the exit. Now, go down and right and enter the
next cave. In this cave, go right and defeat the Bots and the red Daira then
use the Jump spell to jump to the high ledges above you. Take the red magic
decanter to completely refill your magic, then continue right and exit the
cave. Next, go down and enter the following cave. Here, go left and defeat the
Blue Goriyas, the Aches, and the orange Daira. Then, continue left and exit the
cave and go down to the next cave. In this cave, go right and defeat the red
Bots and orange Dairas, then keep going to exit this cave. Now, go down and
enter another cave. Here, go left and defeat some more Bots and orange Dairas,
then continue left and exit this cave as well! Next, go left and up and you'll
see a cave in the ground; go into it. Go right and defeat the red Dairas, an
Acheman, and a Lowder then keep going to the next room. Here, go left and beat
some more orange Dairas and Megmats, then when you reach the elevator, go down
it. On this floor, go right and defeat the red Dairas and go to the next room.
Here, jump from ledge to ledge all the way to the next room. In the next room,
go right and defeat the orange, then red Dairas. Then, take the Hammer at the
end! Now, go left a couple rooms back to the room with the elevator. Go back up
the elevator, then head left. Keep going left through a couple rooms until
you're back in the overworld.

You'll see a large stone to the left of you; go up to it and press A to destroy
it with your Hammer. Now, walk into the rubble and you'll drop into a hidden
cave. Take the Magic Container when you land, then go left to exit this cave.
Now, go right and down into the desert area again and go all the way right to
the water, then go up to the cave. Go into it and go right and jump from ledge
to ledge while defeating numerous Octoroks along the way until you reach the
end of the cave. Then, go ALL the way up along the path to another cave and
enter it. You'll automatically be brought to a beach area with a bridge nearby.
Go right across the 2 parts of the bridge while defeating the Black, then Blue
Moblins. Then, in the 2nd part, avoid the bubble things that float upward from
the bottom of the screen, as well as defeat the red Daira. Keep going right to
the end, then follow the path right and up alongside the graveyard. Keep going
up, then right until you reach the desert. Continue upward until you reach the
path and go left on it. You'll see a large stone blocking the path; break it
with your Hammer, then take the path going up. You'll see another cave to the
right with a large stone in front of it; go up to it, destroy the stone, then
enter the cave. Go right and defeat the Lowders, but avoid the Myus for now
because you can't hurt them. Continue right to the next room, then go right and
take the Heart Container at the end. Now, go all the way left out of the cave
and go left to the path again. Now, head left and across the path and you'll
see another cave that isn't being blocked by any obstructions. Enter that cave
and go right while defeating the Megmats along the way, then continue to the
next room. In this room, go right and take the P Bag with 200 experience points
inside! Then, go all the way back to the left and exit the cave.

Now, go right to the path and walk all the way down to where it splits. There,
go all the way left until you reach the swamp area. Then, go up and you'll see
a cave blocked by a large stone; destroy it with the Hammer and walk into the
cave. Inside the cave, go right across the bridge while trying not to get hit
by those annoying Bago-Bagos and defeating the Lowders that are on the ground.
Keep going right to the next room, then defeat the orange and red Dairas in
this room. Continue to the right and take the bottle of Medicine there. Then,
go all the way left and exit this cave. Now, go back down through the swamp,
then right to the path again. Take the path all the way right to where it
splits again; keep going east along the path all the way to the end. Then, go
up and into the town of Mido.

Mido
----

After you enter Mido, go left and talk to the lady in red in front of the house
in the 1st scene if you want to recover your health. Otherwise, continue left
to the 2nd scene. Here, cast the Jump spell on yourself, then go left and jump
onto the top of the church and enter the door up there. Go right and down into
the basement, and then talk to the knight there to learn the Down Thrust sword
technique! Now, go back up and left and out of the church, then go left and
talk to the old lady in orange if you want to refill your magic, then head to
the 3rd scene. Here, talk to the old lady that comes out of the first house in
that scene and she'll let you come into the house because you brought the
Medicine. Go right and into the basement, then talk to the sage to learn the
Fairy spell. Then, go back up and left and leave the house, then continue left
and leave the town.

Now, head left along the path to where it splits, then destroy the stone in the
way with your Hammer. Then, go up the path to where you see the swamp area to
the left. Head left all the way through the swamp and you'll see Palace 2 at
the end; go into the palace.

Palace 2
--------

When you enter the palace, go right and down the elevator to enter the inside
of the palace itself. Take the elevator all the way to the bottom floor, and
then go right. In this room, defeat a whole bunch of Bots, and then continue
right to the next room. Here, defeat the 2 monsters that throw things at you,
and then go right and take the Key at the end of the room. Now, head back left
all the way to the elevator again; go up it one floor and get off there. Head
left and defeat the Ropes while avoiding the Skull Balls, then go left to the
next room. In this room, go left and defeat the Bot and 2 Stalfos, then take
the Key at the end of the room. Now, go back right a couple rooms to the
elevator again and go up it to the next floor. On this floor, go left and
defeat the Stalfos, then enter the next room. In this room, head left and
defeat the Bots while trying to avoid those floating heads that can be quite
annoying because they take away some of your experience points each time they
hit you! Next, continue left and unlock the door with the Key, then defeat
another Bot and enter the next room. In this room, go left and jump onto the
ledge, defeat a couple Bots, then take the Key. Continue left and jump across a
couple more ledges, defeat yet another Bot, then enter the next room. Here, go
left and defeat the 2 orange Ironknuckles, then continue to the next room. In
this room, drop down the steps and go left, then continue left while trying to
avoid the Skull Balls, then go down the elevator at the end. Get off at the
first floor, and then go left. Defeat the Stalfos and the Ropes then unlock the
door with your Key and continue left to the next room. In this room, run left
as quickly as you can so the blocks that fall from the ceiling don't hit you.
If you're not quick enough, just jump over the blocks that land on the floor,
then continue left to the next room. In this room, go left and defeat the Red
Ironknuckle, then unlock the next door with a Key.

Take the Handy Glove from that room, then head right to the previous room with
the blocks. Go right and take the P Bag you couldn't before to get 50
experience points, then go right while trying not to get hit by the falling
blocks and continue to the next room. In this room, go right to the elevator
and take it down to the bottom floor. Go right and defeat the 2 orange
Ironknuckles while trying to avoid the fireballs that the Moa drops on you then
continue right to the next room. In this room, go right and defeat the Stalfos
while avoiding the fireballs that the 2 heads shoot at you, then go right and
break through the blocks with your sword. Then, continue right and defeat
another Stalfos while avoiding the fireballs being shot at you, then continue
right and break through those blocks with your sword. Continue through the next
part of this room while avoiding the fireballs again, and then enter the next
room. Here, try your best to avoid the Skull Balls and head right to the
elevator; don't go down it yet! Instead, continue right to the next room. In
this room, defeat a Bot and a couple of Mini-Horseheads, then continue right.
Then, defeat the monster that throws things at you and take the Key there. Now,
go back left to the previous room with the elevator. Go down it this time and
head right and defeat the Bot and the monster that throws things at you while
going up the block steps. Then, continue right to the following room. Here,
drop down the disintegrating platforms and quickly take the P Bag at the bottom
to get 100 experience points. Go right and defeat the Red Ironknuckle, then
continue to the next room. Here, go right and defeat the Stalfos, then unlock
the door with the Key. Go right some more and defeat the orange Ironknuckle,
then keep going right and defeat Red Ironknuckles, then go to the next room. In
this room, go right and you'll have to fight the boss, Helmethead. Read the
Bosses section of this guide to find out how to beat it. After you beat it,
take the Key, unlock the door to the right, and head right to the statue. After
the crystal is placed in the statue and you gain a level, go right and exit the
palace!

Back in the overworld, head right and out of the swamp area, then continue
right to the path. Take the path down to where it splits, then go right and
down into the graveyard. Get to the lone stone in the middle of the yard while
trying not to get attacked. Stand in front of that lone tomb and walk straight
down until you drop into a hidden cave. Go right and defeat the Lowders, then
cast the Fairy spell on yourself and fly above the wall and right into the next
room. In this room, go right and defeat the Myus and the Blue Goriya, then
continue right to exit the cave. Now, go all the way around the mountain and
enter the 3rd palace.

Palace 3
--------

From the start, simply go right to the elevator and go down it into the palace
itself. Then, go right until you reach the Stone Warrior. Use the Shield spell
and defeat it, then continue right and use your down-thrust technique to defeat
the Myu. Keep going and defeat the Stalfos, then go on to the next room. Here,
defeat the Mini-Horseheads that come at you, then beat the small Myus, and then
continue to the following room. Here, go right while trying to avoid the Moa's
fireballs that fall from above, and keep going right. About halfway through the
room, blocks will fall from the ceiling. Quickly get past that area and jump
over any ones that fall in your way, and then keep going to the next room. In
this room, go right until you reach the Stone Warrior; beat it with your sword
and the protection of the Shield spell, then keep going right. Use the
down-thrust to cut through the blocks and collect the Key there. Now, go on
ahead to the next room. Here, cast the Jump spell and jump up the steps made of
blocks and go right once at the top. Continue right and defeat the red Stalfos
that you'll run into. Then, go right to the next area, which is located outside
the palace. Go right while avoiding Moa's fireballs, and take the P-Bag worth
100 experience points, then keep going and take the Key from the ledge. Now, go
back left into the palace again and continue right until you can drop down to
the lower path. Go left and down the elevator to the next floor down. When you
get there, go right and unlock the door with a Key, then defeat some Bots.
Continue right and defeat the Skull Heads, then go to the next room. Here, use
your sword to break the wall of blocks, then jump over the pit and defeat the
Bot on the platform. Jump to the next platform and beat that Bot. Jump onto the
larger platform and defeat the red Ironknuckle. Keep on going right, jumping
from platform to platform and defeating Bots until you reach the other block
wall. Destroy it with your sword, then continue to the next room.

In this room, go right and beat the red Ironknuckle that is coming towards you,
then continue right and use the Shield spell. Fight and defeat the even harder
blue Ironknuckle, then keep going right and take the Raft at the dead end! Now,
backtrack a couple rooms back to the room with the elevator that brought you to
that floor. Now, go left of the elevator and beat the Skull Heads and Bots,
then go on to the next room. There, beat the red Ironknuckle and unlock the
door behind it with a Key, then continue left past the elevator going down.
Beat a couple of Mini-Horseheads and yet another red Ironknuckle, then go to
the following room. In the next room, jump up the block steps using help from
the Jump spell and go left. Defeat the many Skull Heads along the way. When you
see the Key below, use the down-thrust to cut through the blocks and claim it.
Now, walk left and destroy the blocks with your sword while trying your best to
withstand the Skull Heads that keep appearing to attack! When you get to the
real wall, jump back onto the block structure and go all the way right and out
of the room. Go right and beat the Mini-Horseheads and go to the elevator; ride
it down to the bottom floor. On that floor, go right and unlock the door with a
Key, then defeat the red Stalfos you'll see. Keep going right until you see the
P-Bag on the high ledge. To get it, cast Jump on yourself, and then jump onto
the lower ledge, then onto the higher one to claim the 100 experience points
contained inside the P-Bag! Then, drop back down to the ground and continue
right to the stone warrior. Defeat it like earlier in this palace, then go
right to the following room. Here, go right and cut through the blocks in your
way. Keep going directly right along the bottom path, cutting down blocks along
the way and defeat the red Ironknuckle in your way. Keep going until you reach
the P-Bag at the end.

Cut it open with the sword as always to get the 100 experience points inside.
Now, go all the way left and cast Jump on yourself and jump onto the higher
ledges all the way to the top. Go right and cut through the blocks in your way.
Keep going until you can't anymore, then cut through the floor and go right.
Defeat the red Ironknuckle and destroy the right wall, then continue to the
next room. In the next room, go right into the boss's room, where you'll fight
the Ironknuckle boss! Read the Bosses section for information on beating it.
After you beat it, take the Key that falls from the ceiling, and then continue
right and unlock the door with it. Now, go right to the statue and the crystal
will implant itself into it like the previous palaces. After you gain a level
from the statue, go right out of the now defeated palace!

Now that you're back outside of the palace, walk around to and enter the cave
on the other side of the island. Here, go left and defeat the blue Goriya, then
some Lowders and a Myu. Continue left to the next room of the cave; there, go
left and drop down to the lower ledge. Be sure to use the Down Thrust technique
on the way down so you don't fall on a Lowder below unprotected! Defeat the
Lowders, then go left and out of the cave. Now, go west out of the graveyard to
the path, and then go up it. Follow the path as it turns east, then walk onto
the dock and you'll ride to East Hyrule for the second half of the game! Once
you get there, walk off the dock and head south. You'll see a lone patch of
forest there; walk into it to enter a side-scrolling scene. Here, defeat the
floating eyeball enemies by hitting them with your sword when their eyes are
open. Then, go right and jump up the ledges to reach a P-Bag. Take it to get
200 experience points, then continue right out of the area. Next, head east
until you see a town, then go into it, which is the town of Nabooru.

Nabooru
-------

In Nabooru, go left and talk to the old lady dressed in orange clothes, and
then enter her house to recover magic. Then, continue left to the next scene.
Go left past the first house to the fountain. Walk up to the statue in middle
of the fountain and press B to get some water. Now, go back to the house you
just passed and talk to the lady in red outside the house and she'll let you
inside her house. Inside the house, go right and down the steps into the
basement, then go up to the old sage and he'll teach you the Fire spell. Now,
go back left and up the steps, then continue left out of the house. Then,
continue left through town and talk to the second lady in a red dress standing
outside her house, and enter her house to recover your health. Now, continue
left to the next scene, but keep going until you're outside of town.

Now, go north along the path and into the cave there. In the cave, go right and
defeat the 3 Achemen. Then, cast the Fire spell on yourself and use it to
defeat the blue lizard enemy further to the right that shoots fireballs at you.
It can't be hurt without the Fire spell's help, so this is the only way you can
beat it (as well as several other enemies in the game). Then, continue right
out of the cave. Go north, then head east all the way to the water. You'll see
a bridge there, so walk on it to be brought to the Island Maze. Then, go right
a couple steps, then go down and all the way to the right. Next, go straight
up, then go left and up a couple steps. Finally, go right and you'll fall into
a hidden cave. Go right and defeat the orange Lizardman, then continue right
and take the Child sitting there in the corner. Now, go back left and up the
steps, then out of the cave. Back in the maze, go left and down, then right and
straight down to the corner. Next, go left all the way to the end, then go up
and left across the bridge. Now that you're back on the mainland, head all the
way west. You should eventually come across a desert area. When you get there,
go down and around the mountain barrier, then go up and you'll enter a
side-scrolling scene. There, go left and jump up the small ledges while
defeating the blue Octoroks along the way. Keep going left to the end, then
when you're in the overworld view again, go left and up into another side-view
area. Here, go left while defeating the blue Octoroks and avoiding the bubbles
that float upward from the bottom of the screen as well. After you're out of
that area, go up and left into the town of Darunia.

Darunia
-------

When you enter Darunia, go left until you reach the tall lady dressed in red
standing outside her house, and then go inside with her to recover your health.
Then, go left some more and talk to the old lady dressed in orange and go
inside her house to recover your magic. Next, continue left to the next scene.
There, cast the Jump spell, and then jump on the roof of the 4th house you see.
Jump from roof to roof all the way to the right, then stand on the chimney on
the last house and press Down to go down it and enter the otherwise locked
house. Inside, go right and down the steps into the basement, then go right and
talk to the Knight to learn the Up Thrust sword technique! Now, go left and up
the steps, then continue left out of the house. Now, continue left to the next
scene of town. Go left and talk to the lady that comes out of the first house
in that scene and she'll let you inside because you rescued the child. Inside
the house, go right and down into the basement, then go up to the old sage to
learn the Reflect spell! Then, go back left and up the stairs out of the
basement, and go left out of the house. Now, go all the way left until you're
out of town.

Back in the overworld, go right and down through the 2 side-scrolling scenes
like you went through on the way to Darunia. Then, head all the way east to the
water. Cross the bridge there to reach the Island Maze again. There, go right
and down, then go right a few steps and go up the path there. Go up, and then
right into a side-scrolling area. There, go right and use the Fire spell to
defeat the enemies there. When you exit the scene, go right and up across a
bridge, then go left into another side-scrolling scene. Go left, and once
again, use the Fire spell and your sword to defeat the enemies in this area.
Continue left out of the scene, then go left one step and head up and right
along the path. Go up, then left and up, and then to the right and you'll enter
yet another side-scrolling battle scene! There, go right and up the ledges and
defeat the Bot in the beginning. Then, continue right and cast the Fire spell
and use it to defeat the enemies in the area, then keep going right to the end
of the scene. Then, go right some more and then go up and left. Next, go up
some more, and then go left. Next, go down and left, then go straight up to the
upper corner. Then, go right, and then go down at the end. Go right a few
steps, then go down the path, then go right and down a bit more. Finally, go
right and into Palace 4!

Palace 4
--------

From the start, go right while avoiding the Moa's fireballs above you, then go
down the elevator to the floor below. On that floor, simply go right into the
following room. There, go right and defeat the blue Stalfos, then use the Down
Stab sword technique to claim the P-Bag worth 100 experience points. Continue
right through this room and defeat the next blue Stalfos, then take the
elevator at the end of the room down one floor. Once there, get off the
elevator and go right, then defeat the red Stalfos. Now, jump up the 2 ledges,
and then continue right to the next room. In this room, go right and cast the
Jump spell on yourself, then run across the bridge that disintegrates as you
step on it. When you reach the end, hold Right and jump to the ledge on the
other side of the pit below. Keep on going right and defeat a Mini-Horsehead,
then a Stone Warrior. After you beat the Stone Warrior, continue right into the
following room. In this room, go right and jump onto the platform in the air,
then go right and destroy the blocks with your sword. Next, jump over the small
flame and continue right, then jump onto the next platform. Destroy the blocks,
and then jump over the flame on this platform, but this time, watch out for the
Stone Warrior on this platform! Defeat it if it doesn't fall into the lava
first, and then jump over the lava pit and land on the next platform. On this
platform, destroy the blocks and hop over the small flames, then jump onto the
ledge at the end and take the Key. Now, go all the way left through this room
to the room that you just came from. Continue going left until you reach the
large pit. Walk off the edge and hold the Right button. When you fall to the
floor below, hold Right to land on the platform. Now, go right and defeat
another Mini-Horsehead while avoiding the annoying Skull Ball. Continue right
and defeat the Stone Warrior, and then go right to the next room. In this room,
go right and defeat the red AND blue Stalfos, then keep going right and you'll
meet a blue Ironknuckle coming towards you! Defeat it and unlock the door with
your Key, then go into the now open area and take the Boot.

Now, go back left through this room all the way back to the one with the large
pit. Jump into the pit again and you'll land on a disintegrating bridge below.
Quickly run to the right to avoid falling into the lava, then continue right to
the next room. Here, jump onto the platform suspended above the lava and
destroy the blocks with your sword, then jump over the small flame and defeat
the Stone Warrior waiting there at the end of the platform. Next, jump to the
next platform and destroy the blocks on it, then jump over the flame. Defeat
the red Stalfos there, and then jump onto the following platform to the right.
Destroy the 2 blocks and jump over the flame, then jump over the pit and claim
the Key sitting there while trying to avoid the Skull Ball. Now, jump back
across those platforms and go back to the room you came from. In that room,
jump onto the bridge that disintegrates when you walk on it, then run left
across it while trying your best to avoid those annoying blue head things that
float around in a zigzag pattern towards you. Keep running across the bridge,
and then go into the next room at the end. Here, go left and defeat a Bot, then
cast the Reflect spell; you'll need it to defeat the Doomknockers (wizards) in
this room. Go left and beat a wizard, then continue left and unlock the door
with a Key. Next, continue left and pass the elevator for now, then defeat a
couple more Bots and Doomknockers and continue left into the next room. In this
room, jump up the block "steps" and go left on top. Keep going left while
either avoiding or defeating the Skull Heads, then continue until you spot the
Key in a small area below you. Use the Down Thrust sword technique to break
through the blocks and take the Key. Now, to get out of this area easily,
you're going to have to carve some steps out of the blocks. A pattern such as
this one will help:

         -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  |            |  ||  ||  |
         -- -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  ||  |            |  ||  |
         -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  ||  |            |  ||  |
         -- -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  ||  ||  |        |  ||  |
         -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  ||  |        |  ||  ||  |
         -- -- -- -- -- -- --
        |  |  ||  ||  | Key    |  ||  ||  |
        -----------------------------------

After you get out using my diagram above, go all the way right, then drop off
the block structure and go into the next room. Go right until you reach the
elevator, then ride it up to the top floor. Get off there and go left and
defeat some Doomknockers using the Reflect spell to harm them. Continue left
past the elevator and defeat some more Bots and Doomknockers, then unlock the
door with your Key and continue into the next room. When you enter this room,
you'll see a Key is located right above you. To get to it, first cast the Jump
spell, then use the Up Stab technique to cut through the blocks. Then, jump
through the hole you made and take the Key while avoiding getting hit by the
Skull Ball. Now, drop back down that hole and head left only to reach yet
another locked door. Unlock it with the Key you just got, then continue left
past the second elevator. Go left and defeat a couple of Mini-Horseheads and a
Stone Warrior; after you beat them, just go on ahead to the following room. In
this room, jump onto the block structure with help from the Jump spell, then go
left along the top of it. Defeat a Stone Warrior, then cut downward through the
blocks with your sword to claim the P-Bag worth 200 experience points! Now, use
my diagram that I made above to get out of that little "room" and continue
left. You'll see a Key in a little block "prison", so cut through the blocks to
get it. Make the steps with your sword, then go left and drop off the block
structure and defeat the Stone Warrior there. After you beat it, jump back onto
the block structure and go all the way to the right into the following room. In
this room, defeat a couple of Mini-Horseheads as you move right. When you reach
the elevator, ride it down to the next floor. There, go right and defeat a
couple more Mini-Horseheads and continue into the next room. In this room, go
right and jump onto the platform above the lava. Go right on that platform and
destroy those blocks and jump over the flame (sound familiar?), then jump to
the next platform. Be sure to avoid getting hit by those VERY annoying floating
blue head things that float towards you while moving up and down. Keep jumping
from platform to platform and destroying the blocks and hopping over the flames
until you reach the wall. There, take the Key and get out of this room by going
left jumping from platform to platform.

Keep going to the left and pass the elevator going up, and go into the next
room. There, jump onto the bridge that disintegrates when walked on and run
left across it while defeating the 2 Myus on it as well. Keep going left and
unlock the door with a Key, then go down the elevator to the floor below. Once
there, go right and unlock that door with your last Key and keep going right.
Defeat a couple of blue colored Stalfos that jump down from the above platforms
to attack you, then continue right a little bit more. You'll see a P-Bag
sitting on a high platform; to reach it, cast the Jump spell on yourself and
jump onto the lower platform, then to the higher one. Take the bag to get 100
experience points. Now, drop off the ledge and keep going to the right into the
next room. In this room, go right and defeat a couple of red Ironknuckles, then
continue into the next room. There, go right and into the boss's room. The boss
of this palace is Carock, so please read the Boss Strategies section of this
guide for information on defeating Carock. After you beat it, take the Key that
falls from the ceiling and go right. Unlock the door and stand in front of the
statue and the crystal will go into it and you'll gain a level! After that, go
right and exit the now defeated palace!

Now that you're outside yet another defeated palace, walk left onto the stream
and follow it to the end. Get onto the path by the end and walk onto the bridge
to leave the Island Maze. Then, go west and south into the cave. Go left
through the cave and defeat the lizard enemy and 3 Achemen. When you exit the
cave, continue south towards Nabooru. Instead of entering town, walk along the
path straight to the right. Keep going straight across the water and you'll
come across Palace 5, which you should obviously go inside of!

Palace 5
--------

From the start, go right and down the elevator to the floor below. Go right and
defeat a couple of Ropes, then continue up and right to the next room. In this
room, go right and avoid the Skull Balls until you reach the wall. Use the
Fairy spell to fly up to the higher ledge, then continue flying right to the
next room. Now, reenter the room you just came from and go left. Take the Key
you missed, then go back right into the next room. Here, jump onto the 2
platforms, then run right across the disintegrating bridge while avoiding the
blue flying head enemies. Take the P-Bag halfway across to get 200 experience
points, then continue right into the next room. In this room, go right and
defeat a couple of red Ironknuckles. Then, unlock the door with your Key and
continue right to the elevator. Ride it down to the next floor. On this floor,
go left and defeat a couple of Fire Droppers. Then, continue left into the
following room. Go left until you reach the area where the blocks fall from the
ceiling. At that point, stand under the platform with the Key and wait until
most of the blocks have fallen. Then, use your sword to cut a path up to the
platform above you. Follow that path up and take the Key. Now, go left and cut
through the blocks in your way and continue left into the next room. In this
room, go left and defeat an orange Ironknuckle. Then, continue left and down
and defeat 2 more orange Ironknuckles while avoiding the Moa flying overhead.
Next, go left and down the elevator to the next floor. Here, go left and defeat
a couple of Bots and those wizard enemies that drop fire on the ground (Fire
Droppers), and then continue left into the following room. In this room, go
left and cast the Jump spell on yourself. Then, jump onto the ledge above the
elevator and take the P-Bag to get 200 experience points! Drop off the ledge
and go down that elevator to the floor below. Go right and cast the Jump spell
again, then jump to the ledge above you and defeat the red Ironknuckle guarding
a Key. Take the Key and drop off the ledge, then go right into the next room.

In this room, go right while either avoiding or fighting the Fire Droppers and
the Moa. Just continue all the way right to the next room. Go right and defeat
a blue Ironknuckle, then continue right to the wall. Jump right into the wall,
and then go right to the other side and to the next room. Here, go right and
defeat some more Fire Droppers and continue right past the elevator into the
next room. Here, defeat more Fire Droppers and make your way all the way right.
Go up the elevator there to the floor above you. There, go left and defeat a
few blue Stalfos, then continue left into the next room. In this room, simply
take the Key in front of you, then backtrack through the previous room to the
elevator and go down it. Now, go left through this room to the following room.
In this room, go left to the elevator and go down it to the next floor. Then,
go left and unlock a door with a Key and defeat some more Fire Droppers and
Skull Heads, then go left into the next room. Here, go left and defeat an
orange Ironknuckle. Then, keep going and defeat a blue Ironknuckle. Now, unlock
the second door with your Key and take the Flute from the small room! Now,
backtrack a couple rooms back to the elevator and go up it to the floor above
you. Once there, go left and defeat any Fire Droppers you missed before, then
continue into the next room. In this room, jump through the wall and go left
all the way through it, then continue to the next room. Just go left through
this room into the following room. Here, go left and pass the elevator for now
and cut through the blocks with your sword. Defeat the enemy there, then cut
down through the blocks with the Down Thrust technique and continue left. Jump
up and use the Up Thrust technique to cut through the block with the P-Bag atop
it. Take the bag to obtain 200 experience points. Now, backtrack to the
elevator and go up it. There, go left and unlock the door with your Key, then
continue left to the next room. Keep going left to the elevator and go down to
the floor below. Go left and defeat some Fire Droppers while avoiding the Skull
Balls floating around. Then, use the Up Thrust technique to cut through a block
above you and take the P-Bag worth only 50 experience points. Next, just
continue left to the next room.

Here, go left and defeat an orange Ironknuckle. Keep going right and defeat a
blue Ironknuckle. After you beat it, take the Key and go right out of this
room. Continue right to the elevator and go up it 2 floors. There, go right and
defeat the orange Ironknuckle waiting for you, then unlock the door ahead with
a Key. Go right some more and defeat a blue Ironknuckle. Next, jump up the
platforms and defeat a red Ironknuckle. Now, go right into the next room. Here,
just go right and you'll meet the boss, Gooma. Read the Bosses section of this
guide to find out how to take on Gooma. After you beat it, take the Key and
unlock the door to the right, then walk in front of the statue. The crystal
will be placed and you'll recover your health/magic and be able to gain a
level. Then, go right and out of the palace!

Now that you're outside of the 5th palace again, go left all the way across the
water to Nabooru. Head south and you'll find the black River Devil. Stand in
front of it and play the Flute (press B) and it'll disappear. Now, follow the
path around and you'll enter a hidden side-scrolling area. Go right while
avoiding the fireballs the red Lizardmen throw towards you. Defeat the orange
Lizardman if you want, otherwise continue right out of the area. Continue
following the path around and you'll enter another hidden battle scene. Go
right through it and avoid the fireball throwing Lizardmen again and defeat the
blue lizard by using the Fire spell. Then, continue right out of the area.
Continue to walk around the path and you'll enter another side-scrolling battle
area. Go right and defeat the orange Lizardman while avoiding the fireballs
being thrown at you from above. Just keep going right to the end and you'll be
in the overworld again. Now, follow the path southeast around the cemetery and
continue east to the bridge scene. There, cast the Fairy spell and fly right
along the top of the screen to avoid damage. Then, continue right to the end of
the area. Now, go east a little bit and go north along the right side of the
small lake. Continue north and enter the cave there. Inside, go right and
defeat the hopping spider enemies with the Fire spell and your sword and
continue right into the next room. Go right and defeat an orange Lizardman,
then keep going and defeat a red and black Lizardman. Then, continue right out
of the cave. Now, go right 2 steps, down 3 steps, and then right 1. At that
point, use the Hammer to reveal the Hidden Town of Kasuto, otherwise known as
New Kasuto!

New Kasuto
----------

In New Kasuto, go right and talk to the old lady dressed in blue that comes out
of the second house. She'll say you deserve her help and lets you inside.
(Note: You MUST have obtained the 3 other Magic Containers prior to talking to
this old lady, or else she won't let you inside her house!) There, go right
into the basement, then continue right and take the Magic Container there! Now,
go left and up out of the basement and exit the house. Now, go right and talk
to the old lady in orange clothes, then enter her house to recover your magic.
Then, go right into the next scene and talk to the tall lady dressed in red
that comes out of the first house. Go in her house to recover your life. Now,
keep going right and you'll come across a building with the door open. Go
inside that building and go right. Go to the fireplace and press Up; you'll go
into the hidden basement from there. Go up to the old wizard to learn the Spell
spell. Now, go left out of the basement, and then leave the house. Now, go
right to the last scene of town. There, cast the Spell spell to make a hidden
building appear. Go inside and go right to the wall, then take the Magic Key!
Now, leave this building and go left all the way out of town.

Now, go up and left into the cave you came through to get to this area. Go left
all the way through the 2 rooms of the cave and defeat the Lizardmen and
hopping spiders along the way. When you exit the cave, go south and east around
the lake, then continue south to the desert area. You'll find 3 stones in a
triangular pattern. Stand in the middle of the 3 and play the Flute to make
Palace 6 appear nearby. Now, just go down into the next palace!

Palace 6
--------

From the entrance, go right to the elevator and go down it into the actual
palace. Ride it down 2 floors (the first floor's optional) and go right. Once
there, go right and unlock the door with the Magic Key and then cast the
Reflect spell on yourself. Defeat a couple of Doomknockers and the Stone
Warrior, and then keep going right into the next room. Here, defeat the blue
Ironknuckle, and then cast the Jump spell on yourself. Now, continue right and
jump over the 2 pits and keep going right. Unlock another door with the Magic
Key, then defeat another blue Ironknuckle. Then, jump up the steps and go right
into the next room. In this room, go right and defeat a couple of Doomknockers
with the Reflect spell while avoiding the statue heads hanging on the walls
above you that shoot fireballs at you. Then, continue right into the next room.
Here, cast the Jump spell and jump up and right all the way to the top, and
then keep going right into the following room. In this room, go right and cast
the Jump spell again, then jump to the other ledge to the right and keep going
right into the next room. In this room, you'll notice that there are
Ironknuckle statues on pedestals in the background. Go right through this room
while avoiding the Moa and Doomknockers and count the statues you pass. When
you reach the 3rd one, cast the Jump spell. Walk a couple small steps to the
right, then jump to the right to avoid a hidden pit below. Now, cut through the
block wall with your sword, and then continue into the next room. Here, go
right and you'll enter a battle against a blue Ironknuckle mounted on a horse
(remember the 2nd Palace boss; this is it). Defeat it like you did back in
Palace 2, then take the Key that falls and keep going right. Unlock the door
and take the Cross that's in the small room. Now, go back to the previous room.
Cut through the blocks, and then cast the Jump spell on yourself and go left to
the first Ironknuckle statue you see. Jump at that point to the left, and
continue left to the next room. Here, cast the Jump spell again and go left,
then jump to the other ledge and continue left into the next room.

Here, go left and down the steps and avoid the fireballs those statue heads
spit at you. Keep going left into the follow room. In this room, go left and
down the steps and go left to the pit. Drop into it to drop down to the floor
below. Don't land on the first floor you see; keep dropping and hold Right to
land on the ledge on the second floor down. Now, go right and unlock the door
with the Magic Key, then continue right and defeat a blue Ironknuckle. Then, go
right into the next room. In this room, cut through the blocks with your sword
and jump across 2 pits while avoiding the flying blue head things. Keep going
right, jumping from platform to platform then cut through the blocks with your
sword and go into the following room. Here, go right and defeat a red
Ironknuckle and a couple of Doomknockers, then continue right into the next
room. In this room, cast the Fairy spell on yourself and go right across the
large lava pit while avoiding the Skull Balls and the small fireballs that fall
from the ceiling. Keep going to the ledge on the other side and go into the
next room. Defeat a blue Stalfos and avoid the Moa that flies overhead in the
next room, and then go right to the elevator. Don't go down it; instead
continue going right and unlock the door with the Magic Key, then go right into
the next room. In this room, go right and you'll have to fight the mounted
horseman like earlier in this palace. Defeat it and take the Key that appears
then go right into the following room. Here, go right to the pit and drop down
it to the next floor. As soon as you appear in the next floor, quickly cast the
Fairy spell and fly to the ledge, then continue right and avoid the blue
Stalfos and go into the next room. In this room, go right and jump onto the
middle platform and the boss, Barba the dragon, will appear. Read the Bosses
section of this guide for information on beating it. After you win, take the
Key and go right, then unlock the door and walk in front of the statue. After
you recover your life and magic, and gain a level, go right out of another
defeated palace!

Back in the overworld, go left and walk onto the bridge. Simply cast the Fairy
spell and fly along the top of the screen all the way to the end. When you're
in the overhead view again, go left into the deserted town of Old Kasuto.

Old Kasuto
----------

When you enter the town, you'll find that it's deserted and blue Moas occupy
the entire area. So, go left and enter the first house. Go right through the
house into the basement, then go right down the steps and talk to the old
wizard to learn the Thunder spell! You can only learn the spell if you have all
the Magic Containers. After you get the spell, go left and up the steps, then
continue out of the house. Now, since there isn't anything of interest here,
just go right out of the town.

Now, go back east across the bridge scene like before. Use the Fairy spell to
quickly get across, or just get across by jumping and attacking like you
normally would. After you reach the other side go up and left to the other
bridge. Get across it, then continue west to the graveyard. Step into the
graveyard, and then quickly get back onto the path so if a monster attacked,
you wouldn't fight it. After the shadows of monsters disappear from the map,
quickly go south through it and you'll enter a side-scrolling scene. Go right
through this scene while avoiding the blue Moa and the fireballs the red
Lizardmen above you are throwing towards you. When you exit the scene, go down
a couple steps, and then go all the way left while trying to avoid battles
unless you want to fight. Keep going left and you'll enter another
side-scrolling scene. Get through this cave area by jumping over the pit and
defeating the orange Lizardman while avoiding the blue Moas. Continue left and
jump over a couple of pits, then defeat another orange Lizardman. After you
beat it, cast the Jump spell and jump over the larger gap and exit the cave.
Now, continue going north on the path. When it splits, go along the right path
and continue north until you enter another cave scene. Get through it just like
you did in the previous one (it's the same exact layout), then when you're
outside again, keep going up and into the cave. Here, go left through the cave
while defeating the red floating eyeball enemies and the blue Moas. Keep going
left and defeat the blue Lizardman, then continue out of the cave. Next, go
south along the path, then go left and up the other side and into a hidden cave
scene. Jump over the lava pit and go left and defeat the red Lizardman.
Continue left and beat some blue Moas and a red eyeball enemy, and then jump
over a few pits. Next, continue left and defeat another red Lizardman, then
jump over the larger pit using the Jump spell's help. Then, go left out of the
cave and continue north into the real cave. Go right and defeat a blue
Lizardman, then a red one, and continue right out of the cave. Once outside
again, just go up into the Great Palace!

Great Palace
------------

When you enter the Great Palace, go right and the forcefield will disappear
because you've beaten all the other palaces. Go right to the elevator and ride
it down to the floor below. Go left and defeat the Mini-Thunderbird, then
continue left into the next room. In this room, cast the Fairy spell and fly
across the top of the room to the elevator, then ride it down to the next
floor. Once there, go right into the following room. Here, simply go all the
way right across the 2 bridges to the next room. In this room, go right and
defeat a Mini-Thunderbird, then continue right to the elevator and ride it to
the next floor. Go right and cut through the blocks with your sword, then go
right through the room while either avoiding or defeating the orange head
things floating around. Cut through some more blocks at the other side of the
room, and then go right into the following room. In this room, go right and
watch out for the Mini-Thunderbird enemy that jumps towards you with sword in
hand. Get past it quickly or defeat it, then continue going right. Go right and
jump up a couple of steps and defeat a Bot. Then, cut through the blocks using
the Down Stab technique and go right and down the elevator 3 floors. There, go
right and defeat the Mini-Thunderbird and go right into the next room. In this
room, go right and defeat the red Rope snake enemy and some of those floating
orange head things, then continue right all the way to the elevator. Go down it
to the next floor and go right. Cut through the blocks with your sword and
defeat a couple of Bots, then go right and cut through some more blocks. Defeat
another Bot and go right into the next room. Here, go right across the
disintegrating bridge and defeat the red Rope, and then jump onto the platform
at the end of the bridge. Then, continue right to the elevator leading to the
next floor. Here, go right and try and avoid the giant Skull Ball. Defeat a
blue Mini-Thunderbird, and then continue right to the next room. Here, go right
and defeat another blue Mini-Thunderbird, then continue right and up the steps.
Avoid the giant Skull Ball if possible, then cut through the blocks using the
Down Stab technique to cut down through them. Next, just go right and down the
elevator.

Go down through 3 floors to the very bottom, then go left. Defeat a Bot and a
Mini-Thunderbird, and then continue left into the next room. In the next room,
go left and you'll see a bunch of blocks on the floor. Defeat some floating
orange head enemies that come near, then cut down through the row of blocks and
you'll reveal a hidden pitfall. Drop down to the floor below and go right. Go
right and hit the giant blue Bot to make a bunch of regular Bots appear. Defeat
them all and go right into the next room. In this room, go right across the
disintegrating bridge. You'll find a narrow pitfall below you. Drop through the
bridge when the floor below you disappears, then fall down the pit to the
bottom floor. Once there, head right into the following room. In this room, go
all the way to the right as far as you can possibly go and the Thunderbird will
appear. Read the Boss Strategies section for information on beating it. After
you beat it, continue right and you'll fight Dark Link the final boss. After
you defeat it in battle, you've beaten the game!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 6. Enemies -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Ache: A blue colored bat that hangs from the ceiling inside caves. When you
walk under them, they'll just swoop down and then fly back up to the ceiling
again. You can beat them if you're quick enough with your sword.

Acheman: This creature is similar to the Ache, but is colored red and does a
couple other things, too. It sticks to the ceiling, but when you pass under,
it'll swoop down and change into a dragon and shoot fireballs. A few stabs from
your sword can defeat it.

Bago-Bago: This monster resembles the skeleton of a fish. It attacks by flying
through the air and spitting out rocks at you, but fortunately you only
encounter it when going across bridges. There are two versions of this
creature: the blue one found in most of the game, and the reddish-colored ones
found only in the Great Palace. The blue one's fireballs can be blocked with
your shield, but the red one's can't be. A few hits with the sword should be
enough to defeat this enemy, though!

Boon: This is a really annoying and quick insect that flies above you and drops
rocks on your head! Since they fly above you, it's best to use the Up Thrust
sword technique to defeat them.

Bot: Now this is as easy as it can possibly be! This blue and sometimes red
blob-like creature does nothing except hop around, which doesn't help it at
all! Just squat down and stab it with your sword. There are 3 types of Bots:
the blue one in the beginning of the game, the red ones, and the blue one in
the Great Palace. They can all be defeated with just a few hits from your
sword!

Daira: This ax-wielding crocodile enemy can be a real pain when you encounter
them in the caves. There are 2 types of this enemy: the orange one just swings
its axe at you to attack, and the red one, which throws axes at you! Just try
and attack it whenever it isn't attacking you.

Deeler: You can usually find this spider hanging from the trees in forest
areas. When you pass under it, it'll lower itself down at you, but usually
misses! There are 2 types of this spider: the red one which I just described,
and the blue one, which drops down onto the ground when you pass under it and
leaps at you to attack! Just stab it with your sword a couple of times.

Doomknocker: These enemies are those annoying wizard enemies you find in the
4th palace. Your ONLY way of defeating them is to reflect their spells back at
them, so cast Reflect on Link, then use your shield to make the spell bounce
back at the wizard. You can only hurt it when it's visible.

Fire Dropper: This wizard-like enemy, found in the later palaces, drop fire on
the ground to attack. They then teleport to another part of the screen and drop
more fire, which disappears after a couple seconds. Defeat it by attacking it
quickly with the Down Stab sword technique when it's visible.

Geldarm: These long, white caterpillar-like enemies are only found in the
desert areas. They stand straight up and you can only harm them by attacking
their black pincers on top of them. Cut them down to size by simply stabbing
their white section, and then hit them on top.

Goriya: These are creatures that throw boomerangs and look like wolves walking
on 2 feet! They simply walk around and throw boomerangs at you, but you can
block them by using your shield. When you can, get close and stab them
repeatedly with your sword to kill.

Ironknuckle: This is an armored knight, complete with sword and shield. They're
found only in the palaces and there are 3 different types of Ironknuckles.
There are the regular orange ones, which aren't too fast and only try and stab
you with their swords. Next, there are the red ones, which are a bit quicker,
but only attack by stabbing with their swords. Finally, there's the blue
Ironknuckles, which are REALLY annoying! They are really quick, can take more
hits than the other 2 types, and can throw swords at you. When attacking these
guys, jump in the air, then use your sword on the way down to hit them from
above!

Lizardman: This creature is pretty much like Ironknuckle, except for the fact
that it's not found in the palaces. You should take care of these guys just
like the Ironknuckles: jump up and hit them with your sword as you come down.
There are 3 types of Lizardmen as well: the orange ones, the red ones, and the
blue ones. The orange Lizardmen just walk towards you and stab you with their
spears. The red ones hit you with a small mace like the Dairas did. Finally,
the blue Lizardmen throw those small spiked maces at you!

Lowder: This is a blue beetle enemy that crawls around in some caves. They rush
towards you when sighted, but you can easily avoid them by jumping over them.
Just use the Down Thrust sword technique or duck down and stab them a couple
times to defeat them.

Megmat: These enemies move by hopping around. They're mainly found in the
grassy plains area. They don't have a real attack, but they do follow you
around and try and hit you while they're hopping. A couple blows with your
sword will take care of them!

Mini-Horsehead: This creature is VERY harmless, as it doesn't attack you.
They're found in most of the palaces, and they only move across the screen by
hopping. You can just defeat them with a single hit from your sword, so you
shouldn't worry about these guys! (I made this enemy's name up, but if you know
its real name, let me know!)

Mini-Thunderbird: This smaller version of the boss is found only in the Great
Palace. There are 3 types of them all found in this palace, and all of them can
be quite annoying! First, there's the red one that hops around and throws
fireballs towards you. Second, there's the red Mini-Thunderbird that jumps in
the air and uses a sword. Lastly, there's the blue version, which jumps in the
air, moves quickly, AND throws swords at you at a faster pace than the blue
Ironknuckles! Defeat the first type by hitting it numerous times with your
sword, and beat the other two types like you would for an Ironknuckle or a
Lizardman.

Moa: This flying eyeball enemy is sometimes annoying and difficult to reach and
defeat. It flies overhead, then makes a U-turn and flies back and drops
fireballs on the ground. You should use the Up Thrust sword technique if you
choose to fight this creature. Also, there are 2 different types of Moas: the
orange one and the blue one. The orange Moa drops the fireballs on you, like I
described above. The blue Moa flies around closer to the ground and is really
annoying, especially in tight places! Just beat them by hitting them with your
sword.

Moblin: Those large bulldog look-alikes are back in this game from the previous
Zelda adventure! They attack by trying to stab you with or even throw their
spears at you! There are 3 different types of Moblins: the orange Moblins just
try to stab you with their spears, the red ones throw spears at you, and the
blue ones are a more difficult version of the red ones. You can use your shield
to block their spears, then attack them with your sword.

Moby: This is an orange, flying bird with a different attack pattern than the
other enemies. It flies straight down towards the ground until it is level with
you, then it darts right in your direction! It's easy to avoid this enemy by
simply jumping over or ducking under it as it flies by.

Myu: This is a small, spiky creature that's mainly found in the caves. Because
of its small size, you can't get low enough to attack it directly, but there's
only ONE move that can kill it. That move is the Down Thrust technique; just
hit Myu from above with it to attack/kill it.

Octorok: These are those octopus-like creatures that hop in the air and spit
out rocks at you. Luckily, their attacks are easy to avoid, so just run in and
stab them with your sword.

Rope: These small snake enemies are usually found in some of the palaces. They
don't move that quickly, but they attack by spitting fireballs at you! There
are 2 types of this enemy as well: the blue ones and the red ones. They both do
the same thing, but the red ones are only found in the Great Palace. Defeat
them with a couple stabs with your sword.

Skull Balls: These are those floating skeleton head things found in the palaces
aren't too hard, but they can endure LOTS of hits! If you want to take the time
and defeat them, jump above them and use the Down Thrust technique to hit them.
Just keep on doing that to defeat them without getting hurt by them as much as
you would if you went right up to them and stabbed them directly!

Skull Heads: These red-colored heads are quite annoying in the fact that they
are practically endless when you find them anywhere! They move up and down and
shoot a fireball at you each time it pauses. Just defeat it with a couple quick
hits from your sword when it isn't attacking.

Stalfos: These skeleton warriors are pretty easy to beat. You usually can find
them lurking in the palaces and they attack you with their sword while they try
and defend with their shield. They also can jump in the air, too. An easy way
to beat them is different than fighting the Ironknuckles; you can hit them by
squatting down and hitting them because they never lower their shield down
there!

Stone Warrior: This is a blue-colored warrior whom I think is made of stone. It
throws small hammer-like projectiles at you, which can cause lots of damage if
you're not strong enough. Defeat it by using the Shield spell, then jumping and
attacking it with your sword when it isn't throwing anything. It helps if you
use the Down Thrust sword technique to attack it from above. Also, it can take
quite a few blows, so it could be VERY hard fighting this enemy at times!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 7. Bosses -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Horsehead
    Found In: Palace 1
Strategy: This creature is the boss of Palace 1 and is the easiest of the
bosses. The first thing you should do is cast Shield on yourself to lower the
damage caused by Horsehead's attacks. To beat him, just jump up and stab him in
the head when you're in close. Horsehead's only attack, which is striking you
with his spiked club; luckily it's easy to avoid! Just keep doing the jump, and
then stab pattern until Horsehead is defeated.

Helmethead
    Found In: Palace 2
Strategy: This armored knight is the guardian of Palace 2. In order to
defeat this boss, you should have learned the Down Thrust sword technique in
Mido. To win this fight, have Link use the magic Shield again to cut the damage
he takes in half. Then, jump above Helmethead and use the Down Thrust technique
on its head to cause damage. Continue to attack Helmethead's head in that
manner until it's defeated.

Ironknuckle
    Found In: Palace 3
Strategy: This blue Ironknuckle that's mounted on its horse is the 3rd
Palace's guardian. As always, have Link cast Shield on himself to lower damage
inflicted to him. Now, when Ironknuckle rides across the screen, jump up and
use the Down Thrust technique on its head when it passes below you. Keep
hitting its head with the Down Thrust until it finally gets off the horse and
attacks you with its sword. All you have to do is defeat it like the other
Ironknuckles: just jump and attack its head until it's defeated.

Carock
    Found In: Palace 4
Strategy: This wizard is the guardian of Palace 4. It mainly appears and
casts spells towards you, then teleports to another part of the room. Since it
is pretty strong, you should definitely cast Shield on yourself as well as
Reflect so you can reflect Carock's spells back at it. You should stay in
either end of the room, facing the room's center. That makes it so that Carock
can't appear right behind you! Now, just stay in that side and whenever its
spells come toward you, just reflect it back at it with your shield. (It only
causes damage when Carock is visible.) Then, just keep reflecting its spells
and it'll eventually be defeated!

Gooma
    Found In: Palace 5
Strategy: This giant troll with the mace is the boss of Palace 5. Cast the
spells Shield and Jump to be able to take less damage per hit and to be able to
jump over Gooma. Defeat it by coming in close and stabbing it whenever it's not
attacking with its mace. When it does swing its mace, just avoid getting hit by
dodging or jumping over it. Keep attacking Gooma until it's defeated.

Barba
    Found In: Palace 6
Strategy: This large dragon that comes out of the lava and attacks is
Palace 6's guardian. Cast Shield and Jump on yourself for this battle, then
you'll be ready for this fight! Attack Barba by jumping up and hitting its head
with your sword while avoiding its fire attack by jumping over them or by
jumping to another platform for safety. Just keep hurting Barba with your sword
until it's defeated.

Thunderbird
    Found In: Great Palace
Strategy: This is the first of the 2 bosses in the Great Palace. First,
cast Shield and Jump to make things a little better for Link. Then, when
Thunderbird appears onscreen, use the Thunder spell on it to make it change
colors, which makes it vulnerable to your attacks. Now, attack it by jumping up
and hitting its head with your sword. Try and avoid it by moving around the
room and keep on hitting its head with your sword whenever you get a chance.
Keep attacking Thunderbird until it's defeated, then you'll have to move on to
the final boss: Dark Link!

Dark Link
    Found In: Great Palace
Strategy: The final boss of this game is Link's own shadow! Since it has
all your moves, you should be careful when fighting this guy. To win, run in
towards the shadow and stab it repeatedly with your sword, or let it come to
you, then attack it. Keep attacking Link's Shadow until it's defeated and you
win the game!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 8. Items -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Boots: You use these boots to walk across some bodies of water, such as the
river flowing through the maze near Palace 4 in East Hyrule. You can find these
valuable boots inside of Palace 4.

Candle: With this candle in your inventory, darkened caves will become lighted.
You find this item in the cave almost directly north of the North Castle.

Cross: This cross reveals the ghost enemies that are flying around in the
graveyard and in Old Kasuto. You can obtain this useful item in Palace 6.

Flute: When you play the Flute in front of the black spider creature in East
Hyrule, it makes the spider disappear, granting you access to the rest of that
continent. You'll find this item in Palace 5.

Hammer: When you get the Hammer, you can destroy those boulders in the
overworld that block your path once and for all! You can find this item in the
last cave of the cave maze in the mountainous area at the southwest section of
West Hyrule.

Handy Glove: When you have this item in your inventory, you can destroy the
blocks that fall from the ceiling in some palaces with your sword. You can get
this very helpful item in Palace 2.

Magic Key: When you have this key in your possession, you have absolutely NO
NEED for the Small Keys in the palaces. The Magic Key can open any locked door
and is a necessity if you want to get through and beat Palace 6 because there
are no Small Keys inside! You get this item in New Kasuto.

Raft: You need this item to cross the sea and reach East Hyrule and the second
half of the game. You just have to walk onto the dock near Mido to use the Raft
and cross the sea. You can find this item in Palace 3.

******************************************************************************

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
-= 9. Magic Spells -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Shield: This spell raises your defense power, thus allowing you to take more
hits from an enemy. It cuts all damage taken from enemies by half. You get it
in Rauru from the old wizard in the 5th house's basement.

Jump: When you use this spell, you can jump twice as high in the air, enabling
you to jump over taller enemies and reach higher ledges. You get it in the town
of Ruto after you give the lady standing in front of the 4th house the goddess
statue found in a cave east and north of town. When she lets you in the house,
you can just go downstairs and talk to the wizard to learn the spell.

Life: This spell restores 3 meters of health on your life bar. It is more than
likely one of the most useful spells you'll get! You learn it in the Water Town
of Saria by entering the 3rd house and checking under the table to find a
mirror. Then, go back to the 2nd house and you'll be allowed in; now you can go
into the basement and get the magic!

Fairy: Using this spell turns Link into a fairy, enabling you to reach places
you couldn't normally reach because you can fly! You get it in Mido by getting
into the 3rd house (the church does NOT count as a house!) after retrieving the
Medicine from a cave north of Saria. Then, just visit the wizard in the
basement to learn Fairy.

Fire: When you cast this spell, it allows you to shoot a fireball from your
sword each time you use it! This is the ONLY way you can defeat some of the
enemies in East Hyrule. You get it in the town of Nabooru by going through the
town to the fountain, then press B to get water. Then, go right and talk to the
lady in front of the house; she'll let you in now! Then, just go downstairs and
learn the spell.

Reflect: When you use your shield while this spell is activated and you can
reflect enemies' attacks right back at them (in particular, the wizards' spells
in Palace 4). You get this spell in Darunia by visiting the 1st house in the
3rd scene of the town after you find the Lost Child in the maze to the east.
(Read the walkthrough for details on finding the child.)

Spell: This spell has only one purpose in the entire game. You use it in New
Kasuto at the very last scene of the town to make a hidden room appear
containing the Magic Key. You find this spell in New Kasuto by entering the 8th
house (remember to count the houses as you get through town so you don't miss
it!) and press Up in front of the fireplace, then talk to the wizard there to
learn Spell.

Thunder: This is the most powerful spell in the game, but it's only important
use is in the Great Palace. To get this spell, go to Old Kasuto and enter the
very first house. (Be careful because there are many hidden enemies there,
unless you've gotten the Cross.) There, go talk to the wizard and learn the
last spell in the game!

-= 10. Heart/Magic Containers -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Heart Container Locations
-------------------------

1. From Palace 1, stay next to the water and head south. Follow the path all
the way to a patch of grass, then go right and get the container.

2. From Palace 2, head all the way east and use the Hammer to destroy the large
boulder in front of the cave. Enter the cave and get through it to get the
container.

3. Head east from Nabooru and walk onto the water (you must have the Boot to
get this heart container). Go right while pressing upward until you can finally
go north. Head north as far as you can go, and then go east and you'll enter a
battle scene. Get through it and find your heart container!

4. From the 6th Palace, go directly west to the water, and then go north.
You'll enter a hidden cave where you'll find the heart container.

Magic Container Locations
-------------------------

1. From the North Palace (where you start the game), go right across the
bridge, then head south and you'll find a cave. Enter it and get past some
Lowders and Octoroks and you'll come to the magic container.

2. After you exit the cave where you obtain the Hammer, go into the desert area
and destroy the boulder, then walk on that patch of land to fall into a hidden
cave, You'll see the magic container right there waiting for you to take it!

3. In the Island Maze in East Hyrule, follow these directions to find the magic
container. You should have the Boot if you're going to use these directions to
get it. From the start of the maze, walk right on the water, then follow the
stream east, then north. When it turns east again, walk off and follow the path
left, then up. You'll fall into a hidden cave, where you'll find the container.

4. This magic container is located in New Kasuto. In this town, go right to the
second house and talk to an old lady dressed in blue. She'll let you inside her
house; now go through the house and get the last magic container! (You can only
get this Magic Container if you've collected the other 3 containers.)
