Yay, I finally finished the 9-day challenge myself today. So, I made the
FAQ outline and typed up the first 3 days.

3. INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off, this is not a normal Pikmin Walkthrough. If you're looking  
for a guide to beat the game normally, go somewhere else. This  
walkthrough is to help you beat the Pikmin 9 Day Challenge, a task  
originally devised by SnapDragon. The task is simple; collect all 30 of  
Captain Olimar's rocket ship parts in a mere 9 days. Sounds impossible?  
Then read on... but remember, even with a strat, this is quite a task,  
so don't attempt it unless you've beaten the game at least once.

4. IMPORTANT STUFF TO KNOW
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just a few important tips:

C-Stick Throwing - You can have Olimar throw Pikmin faster if you use  
the C-stick to steer your Pikmin herd around Olimar. Practice this  
skill, its very useful, and you're going to be using it a lot during the  
challenge. Like, for example, its very handy when fighting Armored  
Cannon Beetles, Puffy Blowhogs, or even Emperor Bulblax himself.  

Quickest Way to Destroy a Gate/Wall - When using Yellow pikmin and bombs  
to destroy a wall or gate, throw your pikmin 3 or 4 at a time, instead  
of one at a time...the difference in speed is especially apparent when  
destroying a black concrete wall.  

Quickest Way to Kill a Dwarf Bulborb/Bulbear - Instead of just using a  
C-stick rush to kill them, throw a pikmin on top of them for a faster  
kill. This is especially useful during Day 2.

5. WALKTHROUGH
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The meat of the guide, this will basically guide you, step-by-step,  
through all 9 days of the Challenge. So, good luck, have fun, and try  
not to break your controller if you get too frustrated ;)

========================================================================
A. Day 1 - Impact Site
========================================================================
     There's no time limit, so this should be pretty simple. Grow 25 red  
pikmin (wait for them to grow into flowers before you pick them) and get  
the Engine part.

B. Day 2 - Forest of Hope
========================================================================
     Take out your 25 Red pikmin. Toss one off to the side, and have the  
other 24 start knocking down the white gate. Use the one you tossed  
aside to harvest the two Pellet Posys in the area; put him to work on  
the wall when he's done. Pick your new pikmin as soon as they're ready  
and have them work on the wall too.
     When the wall is down, kill the two small bulborbs nearby and take  
their carcasses back to the onion. Get the 5 pellet that is off to the  
left too. Next, kill the 2 small bulborbs by the Eternal Fuel Dynamo  
part and take their carcasses back to the onion. Finally, have the rest  
of your pikmin take the 10 pellet nearby.
     Return to the Red Onion and pick pikmin from the ground until you  
have about 40 of them. Now have them drink nectar from the nearby grass  
patch to turn most of them into flower pikmin. Now take your pikmin to  
destroy the white gate that's blocking the way to the yellow onion  
(avoid the Bulborb). While they break down the wall, go back to the Red  
Onion again. Pick all the rest of the Red Pikmin from the ground. Take  
those pikmin to break down the wall too. Once the wall is down, kill the  
dwarf bulborb and spotty bulborb around the yellow onion (don't take any  
carcasses back to the Red Onion). Touch the Yellow Onion, and then head  
to the Eternal Fuel Dynamo part. Have all your Red Pikmin carry it back  
to the rocket.
     Return to the Yellow Onion, and pick the single Yellow Pikmin. Now,  
start quickly growing Yellow Pikmin until you have 14 (the most  
efficient way to do this is to collect the four 1 pellets next to the  
Yellow Onion, the Dwarf Bulborb's carcass, and a single pellet from a  
Pellet Posy). Use your yellows to collect the 3 bomb rocks in front of  
the wall by the Yellow Onion (but DON'T use the bomb rocks on the wall,  
though). Also, collect the bomb rocks in the two cans in the area (one  
is near the Yellow Onion, and the other is near where the Eternal Fuel  
Dynamo part was). You should have a bomb rock for each Yellow Pikmin  
(ie, 14 total).
     Return to the Red Onion. Use 3 bombs to destroy the wall in that  
area. Now, dismiss the Yellows and gather all the Reds. Kill the Dwarf  
Bulborb on the path, the Spotty Bulborb, the 2 sets of Sheargrubs near  
the Whimsical Radar/Extraordinary Bolt parts, and the 2 Dwarf Bulborbs  
near the Whimsical Radar part. Don't carry back any carcasses. Throw 20  
reds up on the cliff so they'll carry the Whimsical Radar back to the  
rocket. Dismiss the rest of the red (make sure that you don't dismiss  
them near any enemy carcasses or bombable walls, because you need them  
to stay where they are).        
     Return to the Red Onion and get your Yellows. Return to the area  
with the Extraordinary Bolt part, and use 9 bombs to destroy the wall.  
Use the last 2 bombs on the gate that blocks the way to the Nova Blaster  
part. Have your yellow pikmin start knocking it down after using the 2  
bombs on it.
     Now, go get your red pikmin that you dismissed and have as many as  
possible carry the Extraordinary Bolt back to the rocket. If you have  
any pikmin left have them help the yellow break down the wall. Go get  
the pikmin by the rocket and have them help with the wall also. Now  
return to the Red Onion. If there are any pikmin in the ground around  
the Red Onion, pick them. Wait for the pikmin that are carrying the  
Extraordinary Bolt to reach the rocket. Once the part has been  
delivered, get those pikmin and take them to go help break down the  
wall.    
     Once the wall is down, kill all the Dwarf and Normal Bulborbs on  
the way to the Nova Blaster part. Have as many pikmin as possible carry  
the part to the rocket. If you have any left, use them to carry the  
carcasses of any nearby enemies. Pick any pikmin from the ground before  
the day ends.

C. Day 3 - Forest Navel
========================================================================
     Withdraw all your Red Pikmin (hopefully you have at least 65). Put  
15 to work knocking down the white gate next to the Red Onion. Now,  
put 15 pikmin to work building a ramp near where the Blue Onion ususally  
is. Head to the right, and put 15 Pikmin to work on the pile of sticks  
you come to, building a pole (it's the pole that leads to the Automatic  
Gear part).  
     Jump down to the lower level, and destroy the 3 Pellet Posys on the  
land right before the Blue Onion. The Breadbug should be arriving. Using  
your Reds, kill the Breadbug by continuously throwing your Pikmin on it  
(this is easier is you switch to the overhead view). Try not to let your  
Pikmin or the Breadbug drag any of the 3 pellets too far from the Blue  
Onion. Once the Breadbug is dead, have all your Reds carry the  
Spacefloat part it surrenders back to the rocket.
     Now, go and touch the Blue Onion. Pick the Blue Pikmin the Onion  
releases. Now, quickly start growing blues by collecting the 3 blue 1  
pellets, the pellets from the 2 Pellet Posys right next to Onion, the 5  
Pellet, and the Breadbug carcass. Now, take all the Blues, and go get  
the #1 Ionium Jet part; have all your Blues carry it back to the rocket.     
     Return to the Red/Yellow Onions. Get all the Pikmin by the  
Rocket/Onions, and the Pikmin who knocked down the gate by the Red  
Onion. Head to the ramp that youre Pikmin were building; it should be  
finished by now. Get those Pikmin, and put about 30 Reds to work  
building the second ramp near the first one.       
     Take your remaining reds down to the lower level. Go and kill the  
Fiery Blowhog near the Black Gate that bars the path to the Analog  
Computer/Libra Parts. Have 7 Pikmin carry its carcass back to the Red  
Onion. Head back to the ramp that your 30 reds were building. Kill the  
Blowhog nearby (don't carry back the carcass though). Once the ramp is  
finished, round up your reds and feed them nectar from a grass patch  
near the ramp.        
     Head towards the Gravity Jumper Part. Throw 15 Reds up onto the  
platform with the part so that they'll start building a ramp. Take the  
rest of Reds with you and head towards Puffstool, defeating the  
Shearwigs and Sheargrubs on the way. Be careful not to attract the  
attention of the nearby Wollywog. Kill Puffstool, and have your Pikmin  
carry Omega Stabilizer part and Puffstool's carcass back to the Rocket.  
Run up ahead on the path, attack the previously mentioned Wollywog, and  
try to lure him off the path your pikmin will be using.       
     Return to the Red/Yellow Onions. Get the Blue Pikmin by the Rocket,  
and use them to help the Red Pikmin carrying the Puffstool Carcass and  
Omega Stabilizer Part. Once both things have been delivered, round up  
all your Reds, and leave the Blue behind.     
     Return to the Gravity Jumper part, and have all your Pikmin carry  
it. If you have any extras, have them carry any pellets or carcasses in  
the area. Return to the Red/Yellow Onions and pick up all the Reds from  
the ground. If you have time after everything has been delivered, round  
up all your Pikmin and feed them nectar from the nearest patch. Once  
again, make sure you've picked all your Pikmin from the ground before  
night falls.

D. Day 4 - Impact Site

     This day is pretty open-ended. Your goals are to get the Positron  
Generator part, and build up your Red and Blue Pikmin numbers so that  
you have over 100 of each (you don't need 100 yellow). Try VERY, VERY  
hard to get 100 Blue Flower Pikmin, or as many Blue Flowers as possible,  
because having 100 Blue Flower Pikmin will make your life much simpler  
on days 5, 7, and 8. Don't forget to take full advantage of all the  
nectar in the area to turn Pikmin into Flower Pikmin.

E. Day 5 - Forest of Hope
========================================================================
     Withdraw 100 Blues. Head out to the lake where you get the  
Sagittarius Part. Kill the Sheargrubs by the bridge and assign 20 pikmin  
to begin building the bridge. Assign 30 pikmin to build the longer  
bridge that leads to the Sagittarius Part. Take the rest of the Pikmin  
with you and go kill the Bulborb guarding the Shock Absorber part. Have  
your pikmin carry the Shock Absorber Part. If you have enough left, have  
them carry the Bulborb carcass.  
     The first bridge should be finished. Get those pikmin and have them  
work on building the other bridge. Return to the Onions and withdraw 3  
yellow. Get all the Pikmin by the Rocket and Onions. The second bridge  
should be almost finished. Assign some Blues to carry the Sagittarius  
Part back to the rocket.  
     Take the rest of the Pikmin with you and head for the Burrowing  
Snagrets. Have your yellows get bombs from one of the cans on the way;  
use the yellows to bomb down the wall that leads to the Snagrets. Ignore  
all enemies on the way. Once the wall is down, leave the yellow behind  
and take all your Blue with you. Move the box, and then go use your  
Blues to kill the Snagret closest to the cliff Ledge (this battle, is,  
sadly, all luck; you have no way of controlling what attacks the Snagret  
uses; you can only hope that it uses its attack where it comes out of  
the ground slowly, because that's the only way you can kill it without  
heavy losses). After you kill the burrowing snagret, have all your Blues  
carry the Geiger Counter part and all the pellets back to the Onions.  
Now go get the yellow pikmin and deposit them back in their Onion.  
     Now, take the Blues that are by the Rocket and Onions and have them  
go break down the gate (it's in the water) that leads to the Armored  
Cannon Beetle. Return to the onions and get the rest of the blue, and  
withdraw 5 Yellow. Have the blue help the rest to knock down the wall.  
Take the yellow and get bombs that are in the can near where the Nova  
Blaster Part used to be. Use the bombs to blow down the wall that bars  
the way to the ACB.
     If you think you have the time, kill the ACB (the amount of time  
you have is dependent on how long it took you to kill the Burrowing  
Snagret). If you don't have time to kill the ACB, skip it and have all  
your blues carry the Radiation Canopy the ACB is guarding. Now go and  
try to get the ACB's attention with Olimar, so that the ACB hopefully  
won't attack your Pikmin. If you had the time to kill the ACB, have you
Pikmin carry the Radiation Canopy Part and the ACB's carcass back to  
base. If you have time after everything has been delivered, take  
advantage of the grass patches in the area and feed your pikmin some  
nectar. Pick all Pikmin from the ground before night falls.

F. Day 6 - Forest Navel
========================================================================
     Take out 20 Yellows, 25 Blues, and 55 Reds. Head for the large body  
of water that contains the Anti-Dioxin Filter Part. Toss 6 yellows off  
to the side (make sure that they aren't too close to any Fiery  
Blowhogs). Put the rest of the Pikmin to work knocking down the Black  
Gate that bars the way to the Libra and Analog Computer Parts. Go back  
to the 6 yellows and have them go get bombs near the area where you got  
the Gravity Jumper Part on Day 3. Use the yellows to bomb down the wall  
that bars the way to Beady Long Legs.
     Now return to Black Gate, and your Pikmin should've finished  
knocking it down by the time you return to it. Head past the first  
series of fire jets with your Pikmin. Have you Reds and Yellows start  
building the bridge that leads to the Libra Part. Take the Blues with  
you past the second series of fire jets, and have them carry the Analog  
Computer out of the water. Now take the Blues with you back to the
bridge, and have them help finish building the bridge. When its  
finished, take 25 reds and have them carry the Analog Computer back to  
the rocket. Now, go to the little isle beyond the bridge. Toss your  
Yellows up onto the higher ledge, beneath the Libra Part. Use the blues  
to build the geyser, and then use that to reach the higher ledge. Toss  
your yellows up to the Libra Part, and have them carry it down. Once  
its down, have as many reds as possible carry it back to the Rocket.  
Take all the blues and yellows with you, back to the Onions.
     Put the Yellows back in their Onion and withdraw Blues so that you  
have at least 40. Take the blues to where you got the bombs, near the  
Gravity Jumpers. Leave them there. Now, go, and, as just Olimar, lure  
the 2 wollywogs near the Anti-dioxin Filter Part away from it  
(optimally, past the bottle, near the land). Now, go back to the blues  
and have them carry the ADF.
     Return to the onions. Get about 35 reds, and lots of yellows. Now  
go to Beady Long Legs, killing any Sheargrubs or Shearwigs you encounter  
on the way. Leave the Red outside the arena, then go in and kill BLL  
with your Yellows. Now, have your Reds carry the Guard Satellite Part  
(and, if you have any left, some of the pellets BLL drops). Have your  
yellows help the Reds after the Reds get pass the fire jets.  If you  
have time after the stuff has been delivered, and all your Pikmin have  
been picked from the ground, take advantage of any Grass/rock patches in  
the area and feed your Pikmin some nectar.

G. Day 7 - Distant Spring
========================================================================
     Withdraw 100 Blues. Now, head to the ledge that leads to the  
Repair-type Bolt part. Toss 20 Blues up there, and use the C-stick to  
guide them to the part so that they'll start carrying it back to the  
Rocket. Take the rest of the pikmin to the strip of land where the  
Massage Machine is. Kill the Shearwigs by the bridge, and have all your  
Pikmin start building the bridge. Start heading to the rocket, but, on  
the way there, get the attention of the nearby wollywog, and lure him  
off into the water. When you reach the rocket, get the 20 pikmin who  
were carrying the Repair-Type Bolt and take them with you back to the  
bridge your other Pikmin were building. Get those Pikmin, and leave  
about 25 building the bridge. Take the rest with you, and head for the  
Puffy Blowhog that has the Interstellar Radio Part. Kill the 3 water  
dumples near him on the way there. Now, kill the Puffy Blowhog, and try  
to keep it to the left while your killing it, because you want your  
Pikmin to take the left route back to the Rocket. Once its dead, have  
40 Pikmin carry the Interstellar Radio Part back to the rocket.
     Take the rest of the Pikmin with you back to the bridge your other  
Pikmin were building. The bridge should be finished by the time you  
arrive. Have as many Pikmin as possible carry the Massage Machine Part  
back to the rocket. Take the rest of the Pikmin with you back to the
Onions. Withdraw 6 yellows from the yellow Onion (if you need to deposit  
some blues first, then do that). Take just the yellows with you and have  
them get bombs from the skulls near where the Massage Machine Part was.  
Take the yellows back to the Onions, and leave them there. Gather up all  
your blues.  
     Take your blues and go kill the Puffy Blowhog near the Onions, the  
2 Bulbears, and the wollywog near the Gluon Drive (if a Swooping  
Snitchbug appears kill it too). Have all your blues start building the  
first half of the bridge that leads to the Gluon Drive. Return to the  
Onions and get the 6 yellows with bombs.  Use them to bomb down the wall  
near the Gluon Drive. Now go get the blues that were building the  
bridge, and have them start building the other half, after killing the  
shearwigs. Now take the yellows and go get bombs from a skull near where
one of the Bulborbs was. Now, go and bomb down the Black Gate near the  
Zirconium Rotor Part. Now take your yellows and go get bombs from a  
skull on the shore, near the Pilots Seat Part. Use 2 bombs to bomb down  
the white gate that bars the way to the ramp (which hasn't been built  
yet) that leads to the Armored Cannon Beetle. If you wish, you can use  
the remaining 2 bombs to try and kill one of the Wollywogs near the  
Zirconium Rotor Part.
     Now, go and get your Blues, who should be finished building the  
bridge. Have as many as possible carry the Gluon Drive Part back to the  
Rocket. If you have any left, have them carry any pellets or carcasses  
in the area. Try to pick any pikmin from the ground before nightfall. If  
you have time, take advantage of the grass patches in the area to get  
some nectar.

H. Day 8 - Distant Spring  
========================================================================
     Withdraw 9 Yellows. Take them and go get bombs from the 2 skulls  
near where the Massage Machine Part was. There should be 9 bombs there,  
one for each pikmin (the 9 bombs aren't always there, sometimes there's  
less; just restart if that happens). Head back to the onions, and  
withdraw one more yellow. Use your 9 bombs to bomb down the black wall  
near the blue onion. Now take you 10 yellows and use them to go get the  
UV Lamp Part; have them carry it to the rocket.  
     Return to the Onions, and withdraw 90 Blues. Take your 90 Blues and  
go kill the 2 wollywogs near the Zirconium Rotor. Have 40 Blues start  
knocking down the white gate that bars the way to the Zirconium Rotor.  
Take the rest of the Pikmin with you and go to the Pilots Seat Part,  
killing the Shearwigs on the way there. Have 25 carry the Pilots Seat  
Part to the Rocket. Take the rest of the blues and go to the where the  
ramp that leads to the ACB is (you'll go through the white gate you  
bombed down yesterday). Ignore the Shearwigs on the way there. Throw all  
your remaining Blues up to the higher ledge so that they'll start  
building the ramp. Now run back to the Pikmin you left knocking down the  
wall; they should finish just as you arrive. Have those 40 carry the  
Zirconium Rotor back to the rocket.  
     Return to the rocket, and deposit the 10 yellows. Withdraw 10  
Blues, and have them help the Pikmin carrying the Pilots Seat. Once the  
Pilots Seat Part arrives, have all the Pikmin who carried it help the  
Pikmin carrying the Zirconium Rotor. Once the Zirconium Rotor arrives,  
gather up all the blues and head back to the blues who were building the  
ramp, killing the Shearwigs you ignored earlier; the ramp should be  
finished by the time you arrive. Take those Pikmin.
     Go and kill the 3 Water Dumples near the Yellow Candy pop Bud. Now  
take you pikmin, and throw 15 up onto the ledge near the #2 Ionium Jet  
part. Use the geyser to go up there, and throw the 15 blues across to  
the part so that they'll start carrying it back to the rocket. Now go  
and toss 20 blues up onto the platform with the yellow candy pop bud.  
Use the candy pop bud to turn them into yellows. Pick them from the  
ground, toss them to the shore with the blue candy pop bud, and then  
throw up onto the ledge with the Chromos Reactor. Once they've brought  
it down, set them aside and have 20 blues carry the part back. Take the  
rest of the blues with you and go kill the ACB. Have all your blues  
carry the Bowsprit back to the rocket once the ACB is dead.  
     Now, if you have time once everything has been delivered, deposit  
all your blues, withdraw your reds, and feed them nectar to make them  
flower pikmin, because you really want to have red flower pikmin for  
day 9. Don't forget to run back to your yellows as the day is about to  
end, so you won't leave them behind.

I. Day 9 - Final Trial
========================================================================
     This is pretty standard. Clear the obstacles that bar the way to  
Bulblax, and kill him using your preferred strategy. Just be mindful of  
the time limit. Once he's dead, have your Pikmin carry the Secret Safe  
part back to the rocket, and you're done!

Congratulations! You've just completed the Pikmin 9 Day Challenge! Now  
go have fun with Challenge Mode, or something. And be happy. Yeah.
