===============================================================================

Introduction
------------
I'm not going to lie to you -- the reason why I released this FAQ so incomplete
was to "reserve" my spot at GameFAQs, since I know the game will be filled with
guides very soon. However, I plan to update the FAQ as frequently as possible
until it's complete, unlike most others who submit incomplete guides to reserve
their spot. If you're truly in search of some help past the first part of the
game, check out AstroBlue/Shdwrlm3's guide. It's the best one for the game and
packed with useful information. As for the game...

The next game in the Zelda series is actually a two part game; you have the
Oracle of Ages and the Oracle of Seasons. Both games are different unlike the
Pokemon games, so buy them both if you haven't done so already. Since I'm only
one person and I'm currently involved with two other guides at the moment, I
can only cover this version of the game for the time being. Due to this,
updates may be very sporadic, so bear with me!

Revision History
----------------
v0.01 - May 14, 2001 - Initial public release. Very bare-boned version with
little of the walkthrough done. Much more to come with future revisions.

v0.02 - May 15, 2001 - Level 1 walkthrough complete and more item descriptions
plus Gasha Seed locations added. Started a few other sections as well.

v0.03 - May 15, 2001 - Level 2 walkthrough complete plus more item descriptions
and I started the Heart Piece Locations section.

===============================================================================
                                II. Characters
===============================================================================

Link
----
The hero of all Zelda games, Link is the chosen one to rescue Din from the evil
Onok's forces. Originally from Hyrule and with the Hyrulian symbol marked on
the back of his hand, there is no doubt that Link is the only person who can
rescue Din, and he must do so in order to get back to his beloved home land
known as Hyrule.

Din
---
Din is the girl who controls the seasons of the earth. After being captured
and imprisoned into a crystal by Onok, Din relies upon the brave and courageous
Link to rescue her and get the seasons back to normal once again. Aside from
controlling the seasons, Din is also a dancer.

More to come...

===============================================================================
                              III. Game Overview
===============================================================================

Controls
--------
A Button: Use item assigned to button A
B Button: Use item assigned to button B
Start: Pause the game; bring up menu
D-Pad: Use to navigate Link around
Select: Bring up on-screen map

A + B + Start + Select: Restart game.

Gasha Seeds
-----------
You can find a total of 30 or so Gasha Seeds throughout the game (see Gasha
Seed Listing section) and they can be planted inside soft dirt patches outside
where they will then grow into trees, thus producing nuts with cool items
inside. Check the Gasha Seed Listing section for all current Gasha Seed
Locations that I've found.

Rings
-----
A change from old Zelda games, this one contains Rings. Rings give Link
magical powers (depending on which one he wears) and can be found all over the
game (see Ring Listing section.) Before given access to using rings, you'll
first need a Ring Box to carry them in. For ring descriptions and locations,
see the Ring Listing section.

Saving/Loading
--------------
To save your game, press start anytime during the game and then press select
twice to move over to the save screen. Select the "save" option and you'll
be able to save/continue or save/quit. When you save, you can later access
your game by selecting your name from the save slot menu and you'll leave off
where you last saved.

More to come...

===============================================================================
                                IV. Walkthrough
===============================================================================

First things first, select a save slot and enter your name! Select your
message speed and you'll start off in an open area, so go read the sign to the
north. Take the east path (which leads to Eyeglass Lake) to find a hoard of
celebrating people. When ready, talk to the dancing girl (Din) on the tree
stump to learn that you were found lying in the woods. Talk to some of the
other members of the troupe then go back and talk to Din again to see the
actual introduction of the game.

After seeing the triforce mark of Hyrule on Link's hand, Din and Link will
continue to dance, but things are interrupted when bolts of lighting strike
down and destroy everything followed by Onox coming and sweeping everyone away
in hurricane form. After Link is swept away, Onox will imprison Din into a
crystal and you'll find out what he plans to do. Shortly after, he'll force
the Temple of Seasons down into chaos and you'll awaken to Zelda's nurse.
After telling you about Din, she tells you to go to the Maku Tree in in Horon
Village, so go south a screen.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Items: Ring Box, Friendship Ring, Gasha Seed

If you talk to the girl near the entrance of Horon Village, you'll learn that
you need to head east to find the Maku Tree. Going west will lead you to the
house of know-it-all birds. Going to the far east leads to the Mayor's house
-- go there for a Gasha seed and plant it outside. If you go southeast, you'll
find a jewerly shop where you'll learn about rings as well as get your first
ring/box. The shop can be found in the southwest part of town, but for now you
must go west to the Hero's Cave to get your sword back. Go all the way west,
then south a screen and enter the cave on the beach.

Ignore the bats when you enter and go right a screen. Push the block you
see in any direction to open the doors, then go through the north door. From
here, push the block up and follow the narrow path (don't fall in, or you'll
lose half a heart.) When you reach the blocks, push the left one south and
the right one east to clear the path into the next room. Watch out for the
enemies in this room and step on the switch to make a treasure chest appear
with a small key -- grab it! Backtrack to the room with the block and the
closed doors but go south this time.

Use your small key on the door to the right then step on the switch to open
the door in this room. Ignore the enemies, go around the gap and north a
screen to get the Wooden Sword! Now back in Horon Village, go up a level,
chop up the bush and jump through the hole to land inside for 30 rupees (this
is optional, but 30 rupees is always cool) then exit back into Horon Village
again. You can buy some items from the shop if you want, otherwise just head
west and knock down the gate with your sword.

Items: Gnarled Key

Once the gate is gone, go up the snoozing tree and pop it's bubble with your
sword to wake it up. After some conversation, it'll give you the Gnarled
Key which leads into the first level - Gnarled Root. Explore around the
village some more if you want, otherwise head north where you saw the nurse
earlier. Just above the nurse, go left, chop away the bushes and cross the
bridge to find the level 1 entrance. Use your Gnarled Key on the lock in the
upper-right corner then go through the opening to enter level 1.

Go north a screen from the entrance and push the upper-right block to re-open
the doors. Go east a screen and kill all the skeletons in the room to get your
first small key, then go back into the previous room. Use your small key on
the west door, kill the enemies and open the chest to get the dungeon map.
If you go north a screen and ride the mine cart then follow the narrow north
path, you'll find the compass in a chest. Flip the switch to change the
path of the cart rails then ride the mine cart again.

When you get off, backtrack on the tracks to find some bombs in chest, then go
up the stairs, around to the other side (watch out for the spinning spike
enemy) and find another small key inside a chest. Follow the upper path to
the left and you'll come acros a cracked wall. Equip your bombs and place one
in front of the cracked wall to blow it up -- go north a screen. There are
a lot of sensor-activated spikes in this room, so be careful. You must step
out to activate them, then quickly step back and follow them while they're
returning. Once you get past all of them, use your small key on the door to
the north to fight a mini-boss(es).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINI-BOSSES: RED AND BLUE BROS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so I don't know their names, but they do put up a pretty good fight.
The key to not taking damage here is to pay close attention and to keep your
distance from the two. If they toss their boomerang at you, use your wooden
shield to reflect it (if you have a shield) and use sword attacks when one
comes near. You only have to defeat one of them, so keep that in mind. You
can get a ton of shots in when one is approaching you if you just continually
hit it with your sword (no pauses in between hits.) Once you defeat them, a
warp portal is opened which leads from the mine cart room to the mini-boss
room. Save and continue through the west door.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch out for the two sensor-activated spikes when you first enter the room,
then make your way around to the other side of blocks surrouding a set of
stairs. Push the far west block up/down to clear a path then take the stairs
down into a dungeon-like area. Climb the ladder on the other side and pick
up the Seed Satchel w/20 Ember seeds already inside! Go back into the previous
room, move the lower block to get out then use the warp portal in the mini-boss
room to get back where the mine cart room is.

Kill all the enemies first then use your Satchel Seeds on the two unlit torches
to open the door. Kill all enemies in this room to make a chest appear then
open it to get the Boss Key. Backtrack to the second room you entered (the
one with the four blocks and the closed doors) and make your way through the
east door. Light the two unlit torches here and beware of the hands in the
next room, as if they grab you, you'll be taken back to the entrance of the
dungeon. You can find a ring inside of a chest near the top-left side of the
room, otherwise just take the upper-right path, chop up the bushes for some
health then use the boss key to enter the boss' lair.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOSS: Unicorn Dragon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Items: Heart Container, Fertile Soil

This battle won't be too difficult. This Unicorn Dragon (unsure of his name)
has two attacks: charging at you with its horn and an attack where it spits
three orbs at you. The orbs can easily be outran, as can the charging attacks.
The only way to damage this boss is to hit the horn on the tip of its head
with your sword. When you get close enough, get at least 2-4 hits in before
it attacks and after it's taken enough hits, you'll have defeated it. Grab
the heart container then go into the next room (right) to ge the Fertile Soil
(an Essence of Nature.)

                            Horon Village (Revisit)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Now that you're done with level 1, go south back to Horon Village. If you
run into Maple the witch, pick up all of the items you see before she does
(you'll be seeing her more than once in the game.) Once back in Horon Village,
go southeast to where the sleeping man named Sokra is leaning up against a
tree. He'll stop and talk to you, then go back to sleep. You can get a heart
piece from the north screen here by burning away the sapling with your fire,
otherwise just burn away the sapling to the right with your fire and go through
to the next area.

Ignore the cave for now and go north. You'll run into an odd looking creature
which is supposed to be "secret." She's trying to get back where she belongs,
but won't go if you're following her. When she runs from you, follow her up
a screen but hide from her view whenever she moves. If she doesn't see you,
she'll continue into the next screen. Repeat this until you get to the third
screen. Here, she'll appear to go to the next screen but comes back really
fast to trick you. Follow her left a screen, chop away the bushes and go
through the portal.

                                   Subrosia
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Items: Boomerang, Rod of Seasons

Head down the left ladder and follow the path south, then take the stairs
down into the dance practice room. Talk to the red creature and ask for
instructions if necessary. The goal here is to copy everything the red
creature does. Press right for "doo," left for "dah," and A to pose. You'll
have to listen to the music to do this accurately. Once you've done enough
dancing, you'll be rewarded with the prize - a boomerang.

Go back up and climb down the right ladder this time. Go to the right and
climb down to the area where the season spirit towers are. Go north into the
temple and stand on the platform to get the Rod of Seasons. Now you must visit
the winter tower to get the winter power added to the Rod of Seasons. Go
southeast and enter the winter tower. Hit the switch across the lava pit with
your boomerang then climb the stairs and talk to the spirit to get the winter
power added to the rod.

                            Horon Village (Revisit)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Items: Shovel

Leave this area and go back to the portal. Go right a screen and you'll bump
into Sokra again, who explains how the Rod of Seasons works. Currently, it
only has the power of winter -- stand on a stump and use the rod to change the
season. Hop onto the stump and use the rod to turn the season to winter. Go
southeast until you reach a body of water that's half frozen and half water.
From here, go north into the area where it's summer and make a left. Stand on
the stump and change it to winter then go up the ladder, hop onto the roof of
the house and hop down through the chimney.

The girl inside will give you a shovel and tell you to shovel the snow outside
her door; leave the house and do just that, then go south back where the water
is and make a couple of lefts. Stand on the stump to change it back to winter
then go left a screen and north a screen. Shovel away all of the snow piles
here then go right to find an owl sitting near a tree. Hit the tree to get
some mystery seeds, then go north a screen and left a screen to find the second
level entrance -- go on through.

                            Level 2: Snake Remains
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Items: Small Key (2), Power Bracelet, Compass, Dungeon Map, Boss Key

      Legend: |-|-| | |-|-|-|-|
      ------------ |-|-|-| | | |B|-|
      C - Compass |-|-|-|-| | | |-|
      B - Boss Key |-|-|-|-|-| | |-| - Area of map not accessible.
      M - Map |-|-|P|M|-|-| |-|
      S - Start |-|K|-| | |K| |-|
      K - Small Key |-| |K| |C| |-|-|
      P - Power Bracelet |-|-| |S|-|-|-|-|

Start off by going left a screen and up into the next room. Kill all the
worms crawling around and a small key will appear -- grab it. Go back to the
first room and use your ember seeds to light the two torches, thus opening the
door to the north; go through it. Head right a screen, kill all the worms
and push the block to make a chest appear with the compass inside. Use your
small key on the door to the north, kill all the enemies and then go right a
screen. First take out the enemies in this room then push the center-right
block to the right to open the door. Go right a screen and watch out for the
giant spikes.

Go around to the chest and open it for another small key. Go back into the
previous room and study the image the blocks make (an arrow pointing left.)
Place a bomb near the wall and watch as it explodes, creating a hidden
entrance; go through it for a ton of rupees. Go into the previous room then
north a screen to find some squid-like enemies. Knock them into the pits with
your sword to open the door on the left, then go through it. Throw bombs at
the enemies across the gap to kill them (refill from the regenerating shrubs)
and a chest will appear once both are dead; inside is the Power Bracelet.

Go back into the previous room and use your Power Bracelet to move the heavy
pots; open the chest to get the dungeon map. Go south a screen then right
two screens (you should be back in the room with the giant spikes.) Avoid the
spikes and keese (bats) and go down a screen. Use your power bracelet to move
the pipes then go up the stairs on the right side of the room (these will take
you back outside where you'll find a Gasha Nut inside the chest.) Go left a
screen and take the stairs down back into the dungeon. Kill the enemies here
then buy 10 bombs from the deku scrub up against the left wall. Go north a
screen -- you'll have to reach the treasure chest in the center of the room
quickly otherwise it'll disappear. Here's a map of which blocks you should
bomb (in numerical order:)

                           _ _ _ _ _
                          |+| _|3| _|2|_|_ |+|
                               _|_| _|_|_ |_|_
                             _|_| _|_| |_|_ |_|_
                           _|_|_ _|_| |_|_ _|_|_
                          |4|4|_|_|_ Chest _|_|1|_|+|
                            |5|_ |_|_ _|_| _|_|
                              |_|_ |6|_|_| _|_|
                           _ |_|_ _|_| _|_| _
                          |+| |_|_| |+| |_|
                                        S

If you mess up even once, the chest will most likely disappear before you even
reach it, and you'll have to buy more bombs, so don't mess up. Open the chest
to get a small key. Leave this room, take the stairs back into the room with
the large pipes and finally back into the room with the giant spikes. Go to
the right side of the room and you'll find some broken blocks. Use a bomb on
one of the broken blocks, kill the snake and take the stairs down into a
dungeon-like area.

Approach the large block to make it drop, then hop on top of it to cross the
spiked pit. On the next screen, quickly run past the four small blocks without
stopping and you should make it through safely. Climb the laddder to exit.
Push the upper pipe using your Power Bracelet, then quickly run down before it
pushes you back. Kill off any keese in your way then push the next pipe out
of your way and go up. Move the pot with your Power Bracelet then use your
second small key on the south door. Time for a mini-boss fight...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINI-BOSS: Facade
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of you may remember this boss from Link's Awakening -- well, he's back.
The only way to defeat him is by throwing bombs on his face, but it's not that
simple. He has three counter attacks as well: dropping bugs down on you,
blowing energy balls at you and opening up holes in the floor to make you fall
through. Kill the bugs he drops for extra bombs, run around really fast to
avoid the holes in the ground and simply dodge the energy balls he spits at
you, all while throwing bombs at his face. After enough hits, he'll be
defeated and the warp portal will appear.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go right a screen, use your small key on the locked block then go right
another screen, kill the snakes and go south a screen. Step on each moving
platform (counter-clockwise) until you reach the narrow platform on the right;
go north a screen and open the chest to find the Boss Key. Hop down and go
left two screens, use your power bracelet to move a pot then go south a screen
and toss bombs into the barred in rabbits to kill them, thus opening the door
to the right - go through it.

Hop through the revolving door and go south a screen. Cross the moving
platforms one at a time, kill the snake on the other side and pick up some
pots to find hearts/bombs. Once ready, move the pots in front of the boss door
and go on through to find the level 2 boss.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOSS: Dodongo
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Items: Heart Container, Gift of Time

Yet another boss from a previous Zelda game. Dodongo can only be killed if it
ingests a bomb, so that makes things a bit more difficult, albeit this battle
isn't that hard overall. Dodongo has two attacks: charging at you and spitting
fireballs at you. When it opens its mouth to spit fireballs at you, throw a
bomb inside then pick him up with your power bracelet and toss him on the
spikes to do damage. Do this four times and you'll defeat him -- pick up the
heart container then go south a screen and pick up the Gift of Time.

                               VI. Item Listing
===============================================================================

Bombs
-----
As with every Zelda game, you'll have bombs. Bombs can be used to blow up
cracked walls, damage enemies, etc. You can either buy them in shops or find
them in chests/grass/shrubs. Most of the time, bombs are necessary to have
in order to get past a dungeon, so make sure you keep a good stock.

Ember Seeds
-----------
You'll first receive these in level 1 and they can be used to start fires.
Use these to light unlit torches, burn down saplings, or anything that requires
the use of fire. To use them, you'll need a Seed Satchel (but you'll get one
the first time you get these seeds.)

Gasha Nuts
----------
After planging a Gasha Seed in a soil patch, a tree will grow over time. On
these trees grow Gasha Nuts which can be picked by Link. Each Gasha Nut has
a nice item inside, thus you should plant as many Gasha Seeds as possible
during the game.

Gasha Seeds
-----------
Gasha nuts look like water droplets and can be planted inside soft dirt
patches. When planted, they will grow into large trees. Gasha Seeds are
scattered all over the game as are the soil patches (see Gasha Locations
section for locations of both.)

Hearts
------
Use these to replenish lost health. Each heart replenishes one empty heart on
your meter. You can find hearts after killing enemies, chopping shrubs/grass,
and pretty much everywhere else. These hearts are different from heart pieces
and heart containers, as they don't increase your meter, just the supply on
your meter.

Heart Container
---------------
Four heart pieces will result in this. Every heart container you collect will
give you one extra heart on your life meter. You'll automatically receive a
heart container after defeating each dungeon boss, otherwise the only other way
to get them is by collecting heart pieces.

Heart Pieces
------------
Every four heart pieces make one heart container. Heart pieces are scattered
all throughout the game and are always placed in hard-to-reach areas. When
you collect four, your life meter will increase by one. For all heart piece
locations, please refer to the "Heart Piece Locations" section.

Power Bracelet
--------------
When you have this, you'll be able to move heavy objects such as pots and
rolling pipes. To use it, first equip it to one of your buttons then hold down
that button while pressing left/right on the d-pad near the item you want to
move. The Power Bracelet can be found in Level 2 (Snake Remains.)

Rupees
------
Rupees are the currency in all Zelda games. They come in all different sizes
and colors, each with a different value. Rupees can be found after defeating
enemies, hidden within shrubs, grass, chests, pots, etc. Use your rupees to
purchase items from shops or have rings appraised.

Rod of Seasons
--------------
You can get this from the temple in Subrosia; go inside and stand on the
platform to get it. When the seasons spirits add their powers to this rod,
you'll be able to change the seasons with it. To use the rod, stand on a tree
stump and press the button you have it set to.

Seeds
-----
These seeds serve as fire -- you can light unlit torches with them, but you
must first receive the Satchel to carry them in. The Satchel can be found in
the first level (Gnarled Root Dungeon, see walkthrough for more details on
how to get the Satchel.) If you run out, you can find more seeds by chopping
up shrubs and grass.

Small Key
---------
You'll find small keys in all caves/dungeons. Sometimes they're in chests,
sometimes they're not. All dungeons have locked doors that require the use of
small keys. You can carry more than one small key at a time, but once you
use it on a door, you cannot use it again. Most small keys can be found by
performing certain tasks such as moving blocks, killing enemies or stepping
on switches.

Wooden Sword
------------
This is the first sword you'll get in the game. You can find it inside the
Hero's Cave (which is located on the beach in Horon Village) and equip it to
one of your action buttons (A or B.) This sword will kill basic enemies as
well as chop away shrubs, grass or any other small items. See the walkthrough
on how to get this sword.

                            IX. Gasha Seed Listing
===============================================================================

Gasha Seed #1
-------------
When you first enter Horon Village, go all the way to the east to find the
Mayor's house. Go inside and right a screen to find the Mayor. After
explaining how Gasha Seeds work, he'll give you your first one and tell you
to go outside and plant it in the soft dirt patch.

Gasha Seed #2
-------------
You'll find this seed inside the first dungeon and it's on the third screen
from the top on the far left of your dungeon map. Push the blocks out of the
way to reach the chest that contains it then plant it in a soft dirt patch
the next time you see one.

Gasha Seed #3
-------------
Once you buy bombs from the item shop (or find them in the first level) you can
go to the Mayor's house in Horon Village and blast away the cracked wall on the
right side of the house. Behind this wall is a small, hidden room where you'll
find the Gasha Seed, plant it in a soft dirt patch when you come to one.

Gasha Seed #4
-------------
If you go south a screen from the room with giant spikes in Level 2, you can
find a stairway that leads outside to a chest with this Gasha Nut inside.
To get to the stairway, use your power bracelet to roll the pipes out of the
way. Save this seed until you find a soft dirt patch.

                        X. Frequently Asked Questions
===============================================================================

Q. Why do you have things listed in the Table of Contents that aren't even
    in the guide yet?

A. Consider them to be "previews" of what will be added to this guide in the
near future. I haven't added them yet because I haven't had time or I've
been working on other sections of the guide. Just be patient and they'll
    all be done soon enough.

Q. I'm stuck and your walkthrough doesn't cover the area I'm stuck in. What
    should I do?

A. Wait. Don't e-mail me asking about areas I haven't entered yet, as I will
not have an answer for you. I update the walkthrough as I play through the
game, so you'll just have to be patient and wait for me to finish. If you
don't like it, start your own guide.

Q. What are those numbers that show up on my save file before I load my game?

A. These three digits show you how many times you've died in the game. Deaths
only count if you save your game after dying. If you shut the game off
after dying without saving, the death(s) won't count. The lower the
    number you have, the better.
