-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Though you fulfilled the Hyrulian prophecy of the Legendary Hero and destroyed
the evil tyrant Ganon, the land of Hyrule enjoyed only a precarious peace. "Who
knows what threats may arise from Ganon's ashes?" the restless people murmured
as they knitted their brows and shook their heads. Ever vigilant, you decided
to journey away from Hyrule on a quest for enlightenment, in search of wisdom
that would make you better able to withstand the next threat to your homeland.
Months of difficult travel passed. After a long and fruitful voyage, you
breathed deeply the sea spray from the deck of the ship that carried you home
to Hyrule. But your homecoming was not to be. Suddenly a squall struck your
ship, and though you valiantly fought the waves, a lightning bolt reduced your
ship to splinters.

Your world faded to black as you sink into the darkness of the storm-tossed sea
with the remains of your craft. But in the cold darkness of the deep, you heard
a comforting voice that reminded you of home. It was the voice of Princess
Zelda! "You're going to be all right!" the voice said. "What a relief!"

You opened your eyes to find Princess Zelda standing over you - or was it?!
Actually, it turned out to be a woman named Marin. She explained that you had
drifted with the wreckage of your ship to the shores of Koholint Island. This
mysterious island was unique for the gigantic egg, which crowned its central
mountain. It was said that a mythical creature, the Wind Fish, lay asleep
inside the egg.

You set out in search of your sword and other gear that might have washed up on
the beach with you. As you stood in the surf with your recovered sword, a
strange owl suddenly appeared and hooted this riddle:

"Awaken the Wind Fish and all will be answered."

"What is the Wind Fish?" you wonder... And what did its awakening portend? Your
most mysterious adventure yet, following the riddle of the Wind Fish throughout
the uncharted island of Koholint, is about to unfold.

Mabe Village
------------

You start the game in a house in Mabe Village, still unconscious in bed. You
wake up and the girl who rescued you, Marin is talking to you, but you think
that she's Princess Zelda! After she tells you that you're on Koholint Island,
jump out of bed and talk to Tarin, Marin's father. Talk to him and he'll give
you your Shield and it'll be automatically equipped on you. After Tarin gives
you your Shield, leave the house and head left 2 screens, past Madam MeowMeow's
House to the screen with the well. From there, head south a couple more screens
and you'll be at Toronbo Shores.

Toronbo Shores
--------------

In the Toronbo Shores area, continue south to an area with trees and Octoroks
wandering around. Since you can't beat them yet, avoid them and go down the
steps heading south to the beach. From there, go right a couple screens while
avoiding the Leevers until you reach the screen where your sword is laying.
There's an Urchin blocking your access, so hold up your shield and walk into it
to move it until you can pass, then go around it and walk up to your sword.
Then, a mysterious owl will appear. He'll talk for a while, then tell you to
head to the Mysterious Forest. Then, it'll fly away. When it does, take your
Sword, then defeat the nearby Urchin. Then, go up a screen and defeat those 2
Urchins as well, then go left and beat 2 more. You should have gotten a couple
rupees at least by beating them. Go up and left and defeat the other Urchin,
then continue left and take the path north. Take the steps up, then go right
and up a couple screens, then go left again. Take the path north past the 2
kids playing catch, then continue up and around the path until you see a bush
blocking further access up the path. Cut it down, then go up into the
Mysterious Forest.

Mysterious Forest
-----------------

When you enter the Mysterious Forest, the owl will fly in again. It'll tell you
about how you must enter the Tail Cave after finding the Tail Key hidden in the
forest. After it leaves, continue up until you can't go up any further while
fighting the Moblins along the way, and then head right 2 screens. You'll see a
cave there; enter it. Inside the cave, get around the holes while avoiding the
Keese and get up to the next part, then avoid the Gels that come out of the
ground to attack. Then, go left to the next room and you'll see a bunch of
large rocks blocking your exit. Push the ones that will move around until you
make a path that allows you to reach the cave's exit. Then, exit the cave and
go left, then take the Sleepy Toadstool there. Now, go back right and into the
cave again. Push through the blocks there like you did before, and then get
through to the room with the Keese. Go right and down, then push the rock into
the pit, then open the chest to get 50 rupees. Now, go back around and exit the
cave. Back outside, go up the path a couple screens until you reach a scene
with a couple Gels and a Moblin by a cave blocked by large stones. There, go
right a couple more screens, until you reach the area where you see a Heart
Piece on an island surrounded by a bunch of pits. Then, go down a couple more
screens, then right one and you'll be in front of the Witch's Hut. Go inside
and put the Sleepy Mushroom in your inventory, then walk up to the witch and
press the button the mushroom was assigned to and you'll give it to her. She'll
then use it and give you back Magic Powder, which is going to be useful for
most of the game. Now, leave the hut and go left a screen, then up two. Next,
go left a couple screens, then down until you're back in the scene with the
entrance to that cave you went through before. Then, go left one screen, then
up one to a screen with a raccoon standing there. Go up to it and sprinkle
Magic Powder on it and it'll bounce around the room, then turn into Tarin!
After he's done talking, go up a screen and open the chest there to get the
Tail Key! Then, the owl will appear and tell you to now head to the Tail Cave
with your key. After it flies away, go back down around 3 or 4 screens until
you can't go down any further, then go left 1 screen. Next, go down a couple
more screens until you're out of the forest completely.

Now, continue south a few more screens until you're on that screen just south
of the Library where the 2 kids are playing ball. Then, head east until you
can't go any further, then go down and around and go left. Next, go south and
east to the Tail Cave's entrance. Go up to the keyhole and you'll put the key
in, opening the gates to the cave. Now, go up and enter the Tail Cave!

Tail Cave
---------

When you enter this dungeon, go left into the next room. In this room, hit the
2 Hardhat Beetles with your sword so they fall into the pit, then take the key
that appears. Continue left to the next room. Here, defeat the 4 Gels that come
out of the ground then open the chest to get the Compass. Then, leave the room
and go right back to the first room. Now, go up into the next room and defeat
the small Gels and knock the Hardhat Beetle into the pit. Then, step on the
switch to make a chest appear; open it to get a key. Next, go right to the next
room. In this room, defeat the 2 Stalfos and 2 Keese to make a chest appear,
then open it to get the Map. Then, go up through the one-way door, then in the
next room, go left into the following room. In this room, defeat the Mini
Moldorm while trying to avoid the Sparks, then open the chest to get a Key.
Now, go left into the next room and defeat the Mini Moldorm to make another
chest appear. Open it to get 20 rupees. Now, go up into the next room. Here,
defeat the Keese, then activate the Blade Trap and stand back. As it retracts,
run past and unlock the door, then enter the next room. Here, go right, then up
and around the blocks while trying to avoid the small Gels and Sparks. Then, go
back left and to a closed door; you'll see a lone block nearby. Push it in any
direction to unlock the door. Now, enter the next room, where you'll encounter
2 Spiked Beetles. Flip them over with your shield, and then defeat them with
your sword to make a staircase appear. Go down the steps into the basement
area, then go down and left while defeating the Goombas along the way. Keep
going left, then up the ladder at the end to enter a new room. Here, go up the
hallway until you reach the room with the Blade Traps. Activate them, then run
past when they return to where they were, and then open the chest to get Roc's
Feather.

Now, get past the Blade Traps and leave the room. Use the feather to take the
Winged Heart while going down the hall so you can get all your hearts filled!
Continue down to the steps, and then go right through the basement again. When
you emerge in the other room again, go right into the next room. Here, simply
jump over the pit and go down into the next room. Here, avoid the Blade Trap
and Keese and continue down to the following room. In that room, go right into
the following room, then in that room, take the path above the block to the
next room. Then, go right and up into the next room. Jump across the pit and
walk into the block with a keyhole on it to make it disappear, then go up the
steps and left to the next room. There, open the chest to get the Nightmare
Key. Now, backtrack a few rooms back to the room with the Mini Moldorm and the
Sparks then take the lower path right to the next room. Here, go right and
unlock the door, then enter the next room. Here, go up into the next room and
defeat the Three-of-a-Kind enemies to make a chest appear. Open it to get the
Stone Beak. Now, leave the room, then jump over the pit to the right and enter
the next room to fight the Rolling Bones mini-boss. After you beat it, take the
Fairy and go up to the next room. Avoid the Blade Traps here and make your way
to the other side of the room, then use the Nightmare Key to unlock the door,
then enter that room to enter the lair of Moldorm, the Tail Cave boss. Read the
Bosses section of this guide for help on beating it. After you beat it, take
the Heart Container, then go up into the next room and claim the Full Moon
Cello!

After you get warped back outside the Tail Cave, go left to the next screen and
the owl will be there waiting. It'll tell you that you need to collect all the
instruments and that you should head to Goponga Swamp. After it leaves, go up
another screen and hop over the hole in the ground, then continue left. Keep
going left until you see the path going north, and then follow it to the next
scene only to be stopped by those 2 kids! They'll tell you that BowWow, Madam
MeowMeow's chained dog, was kidnapped by a gang of Moblins! After they stop
talking, continue north all the way into the Mysterious Forest. Get through the
forest all the way to the screen where a Heart Piece is on a platform
surrounded by a bunch of pits. Jump over a pit, take the Heart Piece, then jump
over the upper pit and continue up the next area. Here, go up and right to the
following screen. You'll see a cave there; enter it. Defeat the lone Moblin in
the first room, then go up to the next room and beat some more Moblins. After
you beat them, go right into the next room to fight the King Moblin. Beat it by
dodging its arrows until it charges at you. Move out of the way so it crashes
into the wall, then while it's dazed, hit it with your sword. Repeat that
process until it's defeated, then go to the last room to free BowWow; just walk
up to the rock it's chained on to free it. Now, get out of the cave and go back
left and down into the forest. Go west through the forest to the chest where
the Tail Key was, then cut the bushes around it and take the path left. Follow
it left, up, then back to the right to the Goponga Swamp.

Goponga Swamp
-------------

When you arrive by the swamp, go up to the next screen. Have BowWow eat the
Goponga Flowers, then continue right to the next area. Next, go right, but take
the last path going down to the next screen. BowWow will automatically eat the
large Goponga Flower there! Then, go right and open the chest to get 50 rupees.
Now, go back around to the room with the large Goponga Flower and take the
upper-right path this time. Have BowWow eat some of the flowers blocking access
to the cave there. Then, enter the cave, which is the Bottle Grotto (Level 2).

Bottle Grotto
-------------

When you enter this dungeon, just go straight up to the next room. Here, the
room is darkened and the doors are locked. To light them and open the doors, go
up the steps and sprinkle Magic Powder in both of the lanterns. They'll light
up and open the door, then go right and into the next room. In this room,
defeat the 2 Stalfos and take the Key that appears after you beat them. Use the
key to open the door, then go down into the next room. In this room, beat the
Mask-Mimic as described in the Enemies section of this guide to make a chest
appear. Open it to get the Compass, then exit the room and once in the previous
room, go right into the following room. Here, hit the Crystal Switch with your
sword, and then go down into the next room. In this room, beat the Sword
Stalfos if you want, then hit the Crystal Switch and open the chest to get a
Key. Now, stand on the lowered block platform right next to the switch, and
then hit the switch again to raise them. Now, jump right onto the other raised
blocks, and then continue to the next room. Here, jump across the pits while
making your way to the switch as well as the Crystal Switch on the other side.
Stand on the switch to make a chest appear; open it to get another Key. Then,
go left and up into the next room. Here, beat both the Mask-Mimics with your
Spinning Sword Attack to make a key appear. Now, go back down to the Crystal
Switch in the previous room and hit it. Then, jump back across the pits back
left and into the next room. Hit the switch there and then go up into the
following room. Here, just go right into the other room and take the Key there.
Now, backtrack all the way back to the room where you fought those 2
Mask-Mimics, but you have to remember that you have to hit the right Crystal
Switches like before to get there! When you get there, go right into the next
room. Here, beat the 2 Spiked Beetles if you want, then unlock the door and
enter the next room.

In this room, push the 2 blocks together to make steps appear; go down them
into the side-view area. Here, ride the platform to the other side, then jump
off and continue to the next half. Here, jump on the platform when it's low
enough, then ride it to the top and go up the ladder to the next room. This
room is darkened, but you shouldn't have trouble seeing the floor if you're
playing this with the GB Color unit. Jump onto the middle platform and jump up
and take the Winged Hearts. Then, go up and through the one-way door into a
room where you must fight the Hinox! Just keep attacking it with your sword
until it's defeated; after you beat it, take the Fairy and go right to the next
room. Here, just go right and up while avoiding the Keese, then go up into the
next room. In this room, make your way to the chest while avoiding the Keese
and the Vacuum Mouth, then open it to get the Map. Now, go up into the next
room. There, beat the Keese and take the Winged Magic Powder, then open the
chest to get 20 rupees. Then, unlock the door to the left and enter that room.
Here, light a lantern with some powder, and then beat the Boo Buddies to make
another chest appear. Open it to get the Power Bracelet, another really useful
item! Now, leave the room and lift up the pots behind the chest, then continue
to the next room. In this room, go right and hit the Crystal Switch, then stand
on the lowered block in the middle, then hit the switch again to lower the
other ones. Then, stand on the lowered blocks to the right and hit the switch
again to raise them while you're standing on them. Open the chest nearby to get
a Key. Then, continue right to the next room; there, just keep going to the
room after it. In this room, just go right and down into the next room.

To get the Nightmare Key, you must defeat the 3 enemies here in the exact order
I tell you here, otherwise you won't get it. First, push the blocks around so
you can hit the Pols Voice surrounded by blocks. Defeat the Pols Voice by
throwing a pot at it. Then, defeat the Keese in the lower-right corner of the
room. Finally, beat the Shrouded Stalfos and a chest should appear. Open it to
get the Nightmare Key. Now, leave the room and unlock the door with a key, then
enter that room. Beat the Pols Voices and the Gel by throwing pots at them,
then go down the steps that appear. In the first scene, just ride down the
stone elevator, then go left to the next room. Here, pick up a pot, then climb
the ladder and stand on the next elevator. It'll weigh down this trap elevator,
allowing you to go down it! Then, go left and up the elevator to the next room.
In this room, go down and around, then jump across the pits to the door, and
then use the Nightmare Key to open it. Then, enter the room where the boss, the
Genie. Read the Bosses section of this guide for information on beating it.
After you beat it, take the Heart Container, then go to the next room and take
the Conch Horn!

After you are brought back outside the Bottle Grotto, have BowWow eat a
passageway through the flowers, then go down to the next screen. Then, go down
and use the Power Bracelet to lift up the 2 stones, then continue south to the
next screen. Jump over the pits, and then continue south, then east to the
Witch's Hut. Jump over the pit there, then go south some more until you reach
another rock that you must lift up. Lift it up, and then go down until you
reach the path. Take it west and lift another rock and cut down a bush, then
enter Mabe Village again.

Mabe Village
------------

When you enter Mabe Village from the east, go west, then south and west again
to Madam MeowMeow's House. Go inside and talk to her and she'll thank you for
taking care of BowWow, then give you a kiss, heh.. Now, leave the house and
BowWow will once again be chained outside to its post. Now, you should have
enough rupees on you to buy the Shovel by now, so it's time to head to the
Shop. Go in and buy the Shovel (it would help if you did the Money Saving Trick
here). Then, buy some Bombs as well. Then, leave the shop and head east to the
next screen and cut down the bushes and lift up the rocks. Then, continue right
into Ukuku Prairie.

Ukuku Prairie
-------------

From the start of this large, open area, go right along the path until you
reach the warp. From there, go south a few screens, past the keyhole for the
Key Cavern, then go right 1 screen. Next, continue down until you reach a
building. Go inside and talk to the guy, whose name is Richard. He'll give you
the key for that keyhole you passed if you go to Kanalet Castle and retrieve
the 5 Golden Leaves for him. Agree to help him, then leave the villa and
continue east. When the path turns, follow it north, and then follow it right
one screen. Continue up the path going north until you reach the Telephone
Booth. From there, go right one screen, then up one and you'll be at the gate
of Kanalet Castle. Since the gate's up, go right and you'll meet Kiki the
Monkey. You must have already gotten the Bananas from the Trading Process in
order to continue. Give Kiki the Bananas and it'll call its monkey friends to
make a bridge to cross the small stream. Take the Stick they leave behind, then
continue up across the bridge and into the next scene. Keep going up until you
reach another Telephone Booth, then go left and you'll see a lone bush there.
Cut it down, and then go descend the stairs there. In that side-view area beat
the Goombas, then continue left. Jump over the 2 spike pits with Roc's Feather,
then climb the ladder and you'll be inside the walls of Kanalet Castle!

Kanalet Castle
--------------

Once you're inside the castle's walls, your job is to find the 5 Golden Leaves.
First, head right and defeat the Soldier there. Then, go down to the next area
and you'll see 6 holes in the ground and the Mad Bomber randomly pops out of
them. Hit the bomber 4 times to make him give up the first Golden Leaf. Next,
go down and beat a couple more Soldiers, then go left a couple screens. Defeat
another Soldier, then go up one screen and beat yet another Soldier. Then, lift
up a rock and throw it at the tree the Crow is sitting in. That'll make it fly
out after you; hit it with your sword a couple times to beat it and get the 2nd
Leaf. Now, go back down and right and you'll see an entrance into the castle;
go in it and explore the inside of the castle. Once inside, take the hallway
left to the next room. Here, defeat the Gel and 2 sword-less Soldiers to make
the next Golden Leaf appear. Take it, then go up to the next room. Avoid the
Soldiers here and go right to the following room. Defeat the Keese and
sword-less Soldier, then stand on the switch there to lower the gate in front
of the castle, then go up the nearby steps and go left. Go left and up the
stairs to the next floor. There, go down the steps in front of you and put a
bomb in front of the left wall statue. It'll explode and a Soldier will come
out so watch out! Beat the Soldier to get the 4th Leaf. Now, go up the steps
and go right, then down. Next, go left and down and exit the castle. Back
outside, go right and reenter the castle through the other doorway. Pick up a
pot here and throw it at the closed door to open it. Go in that room and fight
the Knight mini-boss. After you beat it, take the final Leaf and exit the room
and go outside again. Reenter the other doorway and get through the castle all
the way back to the first floor. Then, continue through until you're completely
outside the castle with the task you were sent there for accomplished!

From the castle, go south and across the now lowered gate. Then, continue south
and left with the path, past the Phone Booth, then south some more. Keep going
down and follow the path south util it ends, then continue down and left to
Richard's Villa. Give him the Golden Leaves and he'll step aside; push the
dresser to reveal a hidden stairway. Go down it, then take the path up and left
and push the rock into the pit, then open the chest to get a Secret Seashell.
Then, go back and take the right path up and go up the steps at the end to be
brought up to a field behind the villa. Please refer to the map, also at
GameFAQs, for help getting through the "maze" of bushes. After you get to the
other side by the owl statue, cut down the bush in front of it and use the
Shovel to dig where the bush was. Take the Slime Key that you dig up, then get
back around through the bush maze and back through the cave into Richard's
Villa. After you leave the villa, follow the path up and left, then up again.
You should see a keyhole there; go up to it and your key will automatically be
put in and the gate will open. To get inside this dungeon, go back south to
Richard's Villa, then east and north again. When you're able to go left towards
the water, go left and down along the left side of the trees to the next
screen. Here, jump onto the island to the left and go left to the next screen.
Jump across a couple more islands and continue left to the following screen.
Here, go into the now open cave to enter the Key Cavern, also known as Level 3.

Key Cavern
----------

When you enter this dungeon, lift up a pot on either side of you and throw it
at the closed door to open it. Go through that door to the next room. In this
room, defeat the enemies to make a chest appear. Open it to get a Key. Then,
take the path north of the chest (the right path) to the next room. Walk up
through this room and beat the Gels that appear. Open the chest if you want to
fight another Gel, otherwise don't touch the chest and continue up to the next
room. In this room, either defeat or ignore the 2 Stalfos because beating them
won't do anything because you can't reach the small Gel until later in this
level. Then, go up into the next room. Here, just run to the stairs and go down
them to the next floor. Here, defeat the Gels here if you want, then use the
Key to open the south door, then go into that room. There, defeat the Pairodd,
the Shrouded Stalfos, and a couple of Gels to make a Key appear. Take the Key
as it moves along the moving floor. Then, go back up to the previous room and
open the west door. Here, beat the Pairodds and a couple more Gels to make
another Key appear. Take it and the Winged Hearts if you need the health, then
go back right to the middle room. Now, unlock the north door and go into that
room. Defeat the Stalfos and the Shrouded Stalfos to make another Key appear.
Take it, then go down to the previous room. Go right and unlock that door, then
go around the room while trying to avoid the Pairodd and Keese, then go up the
steps at the end. In the next room, go around this room and beat all the Gels
that come out of the ground to make a Key appear. Take the Key and go up into
the next room. Here, simply go left to the following room and defeat all the
Gels there to open the doors. Go into the north room to fight the Dodongo
Snakes! To beat them quickly, defeat one of them, then go up the steps at the
bottom of the screen and go down to the next room. Then, go back up and the one
you didn't kill will be dead! After you beat them and the warp appear, go right
into the next room and go around until you can't anymore. Then, push the blocks
around to make a path, then open the chest to get the Pegasus Boots!

Now, take the nearby Winged Hearts if you want, then use the Pegasus Boots and
the Sword to ram through the crystal-like obstacles. Then, push the block at
the end and go down to the next room. In this room, bomb the right wall between
the 2 candles, then go right through the hole to the next room. In this room,
use the Pegasus Boots and Roc's Feather to jump across the pit, then go up the
steps and to the next room. Here, go up and jump across the smaller pit, then
open the chest to get the Nightmare Key. Next, jump off the ledge and go up to
the next room. Here, beat the Bombites that count down then explode as well as
the Gels, then go left to the next room. Here, beat the Shrouded Stalfos and
the Gels. Also, open the chest to get the Compass. Then, bomb the lower half of
the left wall to make a hole in it, then go through that hole to the next room.
Here, beat the Bombites to make a Key appear. Take it, then backtrack a few
rooms back to the room where you got the Nightmare Key on the higher ledge.
There, go left into the next room, then go down to the following room. Next, go
left and defeat the Gels there, then go through the left door this time to the
next room. Here, defeat the Pairodds and Gels, then take the Key that appears.
Next, go up through the one-way door into the next room. Beat the Gels and
Stalfos to make a chest appear. Now, go through the next one-way door to the
following room. In this room, beat the Bombites and Sword Stalfos, then lift up
and throw away a pot and take the Winged Bombs. Then, go around and up the
steps, then go down to the next room. Here, open the chest to get 50 rupees,
then go down to the following room. Just go right, then down the steps and push
the block away, then go through the north door to the warp that appeared after
you beat the Dodongo Snakes; go in the warp to reach the level's entrance
again. Here, go right into the room there. Wait until the Vacuum Mouth pauses,
and then use the Pegasus Boots and Roc's Feather to get to the other side of
the room quickly. Then, beat the trap and open the chest to get a Key.

Now, leave the room and throw a pot at the north door to open it, then enter
the next room. This time, take the left path up through the next couple of
rooms. Run through the crystals with the boots, and then in the following room,
beat the small Gel. Now, backtrack to the room with the Bombites and take the
right path up. When you get to the room with the Stalfos, beat them and open
the chest that appears to get 200 rupees! Now, backtrack again to the dungeon's
entrance and take the warp to the Dodongo Snakes room. Go down out of the room,
and then go around and up, unlocking all the keyhole blocks along the way. At
the end, go down the steps and go right. Use the Pegasus Boots to ram the Mega
Thwomp, then continue right to the next part. Here, use the boots and Roc's
Feather to jump across the spike pit, then grab onto the ladder by the pipe.
Then, go up it and down the other ladder to the next room. In this room, defeat
the Pairodds with help from your Pegasus Boots and sword. Take the Winged
Hearts if needed, then go to the next room. Ignore the Keese and unlock the
north door with the Nightmare Key to enter the boss's room. After it taunts you
from its hiding place, ram the wall to shake it off the ceiling and make it
come down. Read the Bosses section of this guide for information on beating the
Slime Eyes. After you beat them, take the Heart Container and go up into the
next room and take the Sea Lily's Bell, the third Instrument!

After you get warped back outside again, go right one screen and the owl will
fly in again. It'll tell you to head towards the Yarna Desert. After it leaves,
continue right across the islands, then go north and east. Continue going
north, and then go east until the path splits. Take the path going south and
continue south 2 screens, then go east. Here, you should see a bush at the
right half of the scene; cut down the bush and go down the steps into a cavern.
Get through it while avoiding the Sharks and using the Pegasus Boots to get
through the crystals, then take the steps up to the outside. From there, go
south a few more screens, then go east the first chance you get and enter the
Animal Village.

Animal Village
--------------

When you enter the Animal Village, go right one screen and down one. You'll see
a building there; go inside and meet Chef Bear. Talk to him and he'll tell you
about the sleeping walrus by the entrance to the desert and Marin is the only
one who can wake it! Now, leave here and go left a screen, then go south and
east to the walrus. Talk to it, then backtrack until you're in the village
again, and then go back to Chef Bear's place. From there, go down 1 screen,
then left 1 and jump into the warp to be brought to the entrance to Mabe
Village.

When you land, go left and lift the stones out of the way to enter the village.
Then, go left a screen and up one, then lift the stones out of the way and
enter the building, the Dream Shrine.

Dream Shrine
------------

Inside the Dream Shrine, go into the bed and you'll be warped into the Dream
Shrine itself. There, use your sword and Pegasus Boots to dash through all the
Arm Mimics as you make your way all the way around the shrine. When you reach
the first set of steps, go up them and up the next set, and then open the chest
at the next screen to get 100 rupees. Then, go back down and ram through the
crystal and go up the other steps. Open the chest to get the Ocarina. Now, go
back down one set of steps and jump off the ledge and exit the dream and wake
up. Then just exit the Dream Shrine with your new item!

From the Dream Shrine, head south a couple of screens, then head west all the
way to the well. Then, go south to the Toronbo Shores area. From there, head
south all the way to the scene where you reach the Octoroks. From that point,
go east for a while until you finally reach a scene with a treasure chest and a
couple of rocks blocking your access. Go south from there to the beach and
you'll find Marin! You and Marin will sit there and talk for a little bit by
the shore. After a while, she'll figure out that you're there because the
walrus needs her. Then, she'll come with you until you reach the walrus! Now,
get back to Mabe Village by going west and north along the shore areas. When
you get to the village, continue east and north, past the shop, then lift up
the stones and head out to Ukuku Prairie. Next, go east another screen and jump
back into the warp to be brought back to a pond right next to the Animal
Village. From the warp, go east, then up the steps into the Animal Village.
From there, go west and south out of the village again, then continue east to
the walrus. Simply walk up to it and say yes when Marin asks if she should wake
it, then she'll sing. It'll wake up and fall into the sea, allowing you access
to the desert! A rabbit will appear and Marin will tell you that she'll be at
the Animal Village if you need her. Now, just go east into the Yarna Desert.

Yarna Desert
------------

Upon entering the desert, go north until you reach the quicksand area. The
Lanmola will them emerge and you'll have to fight it. Slash it with your sword
whenever it jumps out of the sand until it's defeated. After you beat it, take
the Angler Key it leaves behind and you'll automatically sink into the
quicksand into a cave below. Go right through the cave, then up the steps at
the end to get back outside again. From the cave exit, go left to the quicksand
area again. Now, go south one screen. Take the left route south so you're on
the higher ledge, and then continue south. At the next scene, the owl will
appear and talk to you about where the next dungeon is. After it leaves, go
down and left, then jump off the ledge and go west.

Go left another screen, then up a couple into the Animal Village again. Talk to
Marin and she'll compliment you about your new Ocarina and she'll teach you a
song, "The Ballad of the Wind Fish". It'll be song "1" on your Ocarina if you
want to play it again. Now, go right a screen, then down to the small pond
south of the village. Then, go left into the warp to be brought back to Ukuku
Prairie just outside Mabe Village. When you land, go up a screen and up the
steps, then lift up the stone and continue to the following screen. Now,
continue north while lifting any stones along the way until you can't go north,
but east or west. Take the path east and lift up the stones there, then go up
to the next screen. Next, go left a screen and take the path there up another
screen. There, lift up the stones in your way and take the higher route east to
the Eastern Tal Tal Mountains region.

Eastern Tal Tal Mountains
-------------------------

Now, keep going east all the way to the water area, then lift the stone there
and continue right one more screen. Then, go down the steps to the scene at the
bottom. Then, take the path up alongside the steps you just descended then go
right until you reach the keyhole. Walk up to it and the Angler Key will go in
and reveal the dungeon in the waterfall. At this point, go back west to the
steps again and climb up them, then continue left and lift up the stone in the
way. Then, continue along the path going west until you reach another set of
stairs; go up them. Then, lift the stones in the way and enter the cave there.
Get through this room while avoiding the Keese and Gels, as well as the Hardhat
Beetle there, then push the stones around at the end and go down the steps to
the next room. In the next room, go right all the way to the steps and go up
then to the next room. Here, go down and right and you'll see an exit to the
outside. Once outside, open the chest to get 50 rupees, then go back into the
cave. Now, dash through the crystals with the boots, then go out the other exit
to the outside. Now, go right a screen, then down the steps and continue east.
Keep going until you reach a dry area with a ledge you can jump off of. Drop
off the cliff and you'll land right in front of the next dungeon, Angler's
Tunnel. Then, just go inside the Level 4 dungeon!

Angler's Tunnel
---------------

When you enter the Angler's Tunnel, go up into the following room. Here, defeat
the Spiked Beetles and the Gel to open the east door, and then go right to the
next room. Here, beat the Spiked Beetles and a Gel to open the south and west
doors. Then, open the chest to get the Compass. Next, go down into the south
room. Here, get across the room and jump over the deep sections of water while
avoiding the Water Tektites. Cut down the crystal-like things, then open the
chest to get a Key. Then, go back up and leave the room. Then, go back left a
couple rooms, then up the steps and right to the next room. Continue right to
the following room, then go down the steps and open the chest to get the Stone
Beak. Now, go back up the steps and to the previous room. Next, go up through
the next couple of rooms, and then go right. Then, go up and open the chest
there to get the Map. Then, go down the steps and use the Pegasus Boots and
Roc's Feather to jump across the pit, then go right to the next room. Here,
bomb the cracked block, and then open the push the solid block into the water.
Next, open the chest to get a Key. Next, go up to the next room. Avoid the
Peahats and Water Tektites here, then continue up to the following room. Here,
destroy the cracked block with a bomb, then open the next chest to get another
Key. Then, jump over the small area of deep water to the left and grab the
Winged Hearts in the air, then go back across and leave the room. Go back down
through this room to the next one, and then go left into the following room.
Now, get back across the pit and go up the steps, then go left to the next
room. Now, continue south and west until you reach the room with the Gel and
Spiked Beetles. Beat them and go right into the next room. Then, just go right
through that room and unlock the right door and enter the following room. In
the following room, get around that room and unlock the door at the end with
your Key and enter the next room.

In this room, just run straight through and into the following room. Here, beat
the Gels, then use the boots and feather to jump across the pit to the north
platform and continue up to the next room. Here, use the last key you have to
make the keyhole block disappear. Then, push the block behind it upward, and
then go left to the next room. Here, just avoid the Gels for now and head down
through the next couple rooms. Jump across the deep waters, then go left one
room, then go left a couple rooms while staying along the shallow areas. Then,
go up another couple rooms while avoiding the Peahats and Sword Stalfos. In the
room above the one with the Peahats, open the chest if you want to fight
another Gel, then continue up to the following room. In this room, just avoid
the Water Tektites, then go right to the next room. In this room, just open the
chest to get a Key. Now, backtrack through quite a few rooms until you reach
the room with the 2 Gels and a locked door. Unlock that door and enter the room
to fight the Cue Ball mini-boss. After you beat it, take the Fairy if you need
it, then go up into the next room. Here, go in the room and wait for the blocks
to lock you in the room, then pull the switch in the upper-right corner of the
room using the Power Bracelet. After you pull it all the way back, quickly let
go and get through the west exit before the blocks close again and into the
next room. Here, beat the Gels, then go up the steps and open the chest to get
the Flippers! Then, go down into the next room. Here, step on the tiles in the
order they're flashing to open the door you just came through. Remember that
pattern for another part of the level! Now, go down into the next room. Here,
just go down and swim in the deep water right to the following room. In this
room, beat the Gels to make a Key fall through the hole to the floor below.
Now, go right to the next room and just get past the enemies and go down the
stairs.

In the basement, ride the platform across the spiked pit, and then go left into
the next room. Dive into the water here and take the Key at the bottom of the
pool. Then, get out and go back right the way you came and up the ladder again.
Now, go left a couple rooms, then in the second room, push the block out of the
way and continue left to the next room. Here, defeat the Water Tektites, and
then stand on each of the 5 tiles in the order they were flashing in the room
after you've acquired the Flippers. After you do that, stairs will appear; go
down them. In the basement, walk under the large Spiked Thwomp so it falls,
then quickly walk back to avoid getting crushed. Then, as it goes back up, run
left to the next screen. There, assign the Pegasus Boots and Roc's Feather on
both buttons, then dash left and jump onto the ladder so the other Spiked
Thwomp falls. Then, climb the ladder and jump on the Thwomp on its way up, then
jump to the left ledge and go up the ladder to the next room. In this room, go
down to the following room, and open the chest to get the Nightmare Key. Now,
go back to the previous screen and drop off the ledge and go right to the next
room. Here, swim across through the deep water to the small platform with the
switch on it. Stand on the switch to open the door, then go up to the next
room. In this room, take the Winged Hearts, then use the Key on the keyhole
block there to make it vanish, then go up and left, then down the steps. In the
entire basement area, just go left while defeating the Cheep Cheeps if you
want, then go up the ladder at the end into a new room. Here, just go left to
the following room and push the block in front of you forward. Then, defeat the
Gels if you want then go up and open the door with the Nightmare Key. In the
next room, just go down the steps and into another watery area. In this room,
just dive into the water and go down to meet the Angler Fish boss! Read the
Bosses section for help on beating it. After you beat it, take the Heart
Container and go up out of the water and go up the ladders to the room above.
Now, just go north into the next room and take the Surf Harp!

After you get warped back outside of the Angler's Tunnel, go into the deep
water with the Flippers and swim left one screen and enter the cave there. Swim
up to the large fish there and when it asks if you have an Ocarina, say yes and
it'll teach you a new song, "Manbo's Mambo". This will be song #2 on your
Ocarina. After you learn it, go left out of the cave and swim right a screen
and go down the steps in front of the last dungeon. Get through the cave and
push the stone into the pit, then jump over it and go up the steps to reappear
outside on dry land. Now, go left one screen and go up into the warp. When you
arrive by Animal Village, go right one screen and a ghost will appear and
follow you around. To help it out, go up and left through the village, then
take the northwest exit. Now, continue south until you can head west. At that
point, go left and up onto the wooden bridge. Then, jump off the right end into
the water and swim north one screen. Then, swim west a couple screens while
passing by the next dungeon, then climb up the ladder one screen to the left of
it. Next, go south 2 screens, then left one. Use the Pegasus Boots and Roc's
Feather to jump over the pit, then continue left to the House by the Bay. Go
inside the house and the ghost will look around for a moment, then ask to be
taken to its grave. To reach the grave, go up and left, then lift up the stones
in the way. Now, continue west all the way across the shore area, then head
north when you reach the end. Keep going up and around, then continue up to the
well and a fork in the road. Go right through Mabe Village until you reach the
shop; go inside it. Buy the Bow (you should have enough rupees by now) and use
the Money Saving Trick in the Secrets section of this guide to save some money.
Now, leave the shop and go east, then lift the stones up at the east exit to
Ukuku Prairie. Go right and up, then lift another stone out of your way at the
top of the steps, then go up a couple more screens to the scene with the
Witch's Hut.

From there, jump over the pit and go left another screen, then lift up the
stone and go down the steps to the following screen. Now, go left and up the
other steps to reach the grave! Go up to it and the ghost will give you a hint
about the contents of a pot in its house. Then, it'll disappear into the grave.
Then, the owl will fly in. It'll tell you to go south to Martha's Bay and enter
the Catfish's Maw. After it flies away, go south and around, then lift the
stone and go east and jump the pit again. Then, go south and lift another stone
out of the way, then go down the steps and down one screen. Jump into the warp,
but when you arrive in the Tal Tal Mountain area, jump in again and you'll be
appear by the Animal Village area. From there, go right one screen, then up
one. Go left and up through the village, then left to exit the village. From
there, go south until you're able to go west. At that point, go west one screen
and up one to the wooden bridge. Now, you're in the Martha's Bay area.

Martha's Bay
------------

When you're on the bridge, jump off the right side, and then swim up one
screen. Next, swim left another screen and you'll see the Catfish's Maw
surrounded by rocks. You'll see an indent in the lower-left area of the rocks.
Swim there, then dive in the water to enter an underwater area. Just swim down
and right, then up at the other side and you'll emerge inside the rocky circle!
Now, just swim into the Catfish's Maw, also known as Level 5.

Catfish's Maw
-------------

From the start of this dungeon, go left 2 rooms while avoiding the enemies in
the 2nd room. In the 3rd room, defeat the 4 Keese and the Iron Mask to open the
west door. Go through the door into the next room. In this room, open the chest
to get the Compass, then avoid the enemies and go down the steps. Here, use
Roc's Feather to jump from platform to platform quickly through the couple of
rooms in the basement, then at the end, climb the ladder and enter the next
room. In the next room, defeat the 4 Stalfos and cut down all the crystal-like
things until the whole room is clear. Then, push the 2 blocks towards each
other so it forms a square to make a Key appear. Take it, and then go back down
the steps into the basement. Get through the side-scrolling areas by running to
the right on the ground, then climb the ladder. Next, drop down to the lower
area and climb the next ladder into the next room. Here, defeat the Iron Masks
to open the door. Go through the door, then in the following room, use the Key
on the north door and enter that room. In this room, just run upward through it
while avoiding the enemies into the next room. There, defeat the 3 Stalfos to
open the door, then go through it into the following room. In this room, you'll
meet the Master Stalfos for the first time. Fight him by hitting him with your
sword, then put a bomb on him to harm him. Continue that until he runs away.
Then, continue right to the next room. Here, don't even waste your time opening
the chest unless you want to see it's empty and Master Stalfos stole what was
inside. Now, go up into the next room. In that room, push the middle block
forward and go left into the next room. Then, turn around and go back into the
previous room. Now, push the middle block to the right and go up into the next
room. Then, go back down to the room you were just in and push the block
downward. Then, stand on and activate the round switch to open the door. Now,
go right into the following room. In this room, you'll have to fight Master
Stalfos for the second time. Beat him like before until he flees, then leave
the room.

Here, push the middle block to the left and go up into that room. Jump over the
small pit and defeat the Hooded Stalfos and the Star, then continue up to the
following room. There, defeat the Sword Stalfos and Star if you want, otherwise
continue left to the next room. There, defeat the 2 Gels you can reach, then
lift up the pot that's straight ahead in front of the open door, then stand in
that corner to make another Gel appear. Beat it to open the door, then continue
up to meeting #3 with Master Stalfos! Fight him until he runs, then continue
left to the next room. Here, lift up the pots so you can enter the room, then
defeat the Stalfos and open the chest to get the Map. Now, backtrack all the
way to the room with the 5 blocks and the switch. There, push the middle block
downward and go left to the next room. Then, re-enter the room you just left
and push the block to the right and go down to that room. There, go left into
the next room. Now, go straight down through the rooms until you can either go
left or right. Then, defeat the Keese and Iron Mask to open the west door; go
into that room. There, go down the steps into the basement area. Get through
this area like earlier in the level, then when you emerge in the next room,
defeat the 3 Stalfos. Then, cut through the crystal-like objects and go left
into the next room. Here, you'll fight Master Stalfos for the final time.
Defeat him here, then take the Hookshot. Now, play Manbo's Mambo on your
Ocarina to be warped to the entrance of the dungeon. Then, go left 2 rooms. In
the room with the Keese and Iron Mask, go up and around the blocks, and then go
right. Use the Hookshot on the chest, and then open it to get 200 rupees! Next,
Hookshot back across the pit and go left into the next room. Then, go up into
the following room. There, go left into the next room, then up into the room
after it. Then, go left into the next room and use the Hookshot to cross the
pits with Blade Traps guarding them. Then, go left into the following room.
There, use the Hookshot to pull yourself to the chest, then open it to get a
Key. Then, go down and right and exit the room, then cross the pits again with
the Hookshot and continue to the next room. In that room, use the Hookshot on
the small hook on the other side of the pit to stretch a bridge for you to walk
across. Go up and into the next room.

Use the Key on the keyhole block, then go left into the room with the 2 Gohmas!
Read about them in the Mini-Bosses section of this guide for help on beating
them. After you beat them and the warp appears, take the lower-right exit from
the room and go down 2 rooms and right one. Then, continue up 2 rooms, then
right one and up one. You should be in the room with the blocks again. Push the
center block upward and go left into that room. Get through this room, and then
go up into a more watery room. Jump into the deep water and dive around in it
until you go into a side-scrolling area. Swim down and left through this area
while defeating the Bloobers, then swim up into the next room at the end. Here,
use the Hookshot to pull the hook across, then walk across the bridge and open
the chest to get the Nightmare Key. Then, go back around and down the steps
into the watery area. Swim right through it and then emerge at the other end
into the next room. There, go down 1 room and 1 to the right into the room with
the blocks. Here, push the block to the right and go up to the next room. Here,
jump over the pit and go right, then jump into the corner where you're
surrounded by pits. Then, use the Hookshot on the chest, and then open it to
get 50 rupees. Next, go right into the next room and use the Hookshot to cross
the pit. Then, open the chest to get a Key. Now, play Manbo's Mambo on the
Ocarina to be warped to the level entrance. From there, walk into the warp to
be brought to where you beat Gohma. Then, take the upper-right path to the next
room, and then go down the steps to the basement. Climb down the ladder, and
then go left to the next scene. Then, look to the north and use the Hookshot on
the statue head to get pulled up to it. Then, go left and up the ladder into
the next room. In this room, use the Key on the keyhole block to make it
disappear, then continue up and around the blocks. Then, use the Hookshot on
the blocks across the pit to get across, and then go left to the next room.
Here, use the Nightmare Key to unlock the door, then enter the room to meet the
boss, the Slime Eel. Read the Bosses section for information on beating it.
After you beat it, take the Heart Container and enter the next room, then go up
and take the Wind Marimba!

After you're back outside of the Catfish's Maw, swim down to the rocks, then
left into the corner. Then, dive into the water to reach the underwater
passageway. Swim down and left through it, then up at the end to resurface at
the other side of the rocks! Now, go left around the small rocks, and then swim
right to the next screen. Here, swim up 2 screens, and then go up the steps
onto the land. Next, go right another screen, then up 2. Then, go right 2
screens and the owl will fly in to have a word with you. It'll just tell you to
head to the Southern Shrine before the northern Face Shrine, then fly off.
After it leaves, continue right to the next screen. In that scene, cut down the
bushes and lift up the stones in your way while either avoiding or defeating
the Tektites. Then, continue right and down into the next area. Since this area
is infested with Armos Knights, be sure to follow my directions EXACTLY as I
say them in order to get through this area easily! Now, just go straight down
to the next screen. Then, go right and defeat a couple of Gels in your way,
then go down and around the turn, then continue left to the next screen. Here,
go all the way left to the barrier, then go straight up and take out your
shield. Hold it in front of you and walk into the statue to the left to bounce
it out of your way. Now, just go left to the next screen. Go left and up to the
next scene. There, stay to the left and defeat the Gels, then use the shield to
move the Armos statue to the left. Then, go down to the next screen. Go down
and left to the following screen. There, go down and left, then stand above the
statue near the bottom of your screen, then walk into it with your shield up.
Walk into it repeatedly until it moves, then go left and up and do the same for
the other statue. Next, go right and up the steps to the next screen. Then,
just go up into the southern shrine.

Southern Shrine
---------------

When you enter the southern shrine, go up into the next room and be prepared to
fight the Armos Knight! Equip Roc's Feather on one button and the Bow & Arrows
to the other and you'll be set to fight. Wait until it starts to move, then
attack it. Beat it by shooting it repeatedly with your arrows. Jump with the
feather when the knight jumps and stomps on the ground. After shooting it
around 12 times, it'll be defeated and you'll get the Face Key! Since it's
unnecessary to enter the following room, just go back down a couple rooms and
back outside again.

From the shrine, go down the steps to the next screen. Now, use the information
on getting to the shrine in reverse order to get back out of the Armos Statue
maze. When you're at the first screen of the maze, go up to the next screen.
Then, go left one screen and use the Power Bracelet to lift up the stones and
head north to the next screen. There, lift up the single stone to the left and
cut down some more bushes, then lift some more stones and continue left to the
next screen. Here, go left and down the steps into the water and swim down to
the following screen. There, swim around the island and go up the steps. Walk
into the Armos Statue to the left to activate it, then kill it with an arrow.
Now, take the arrow it leaves behind and go down the steps into a cave. Here,
go left while avoiding the sharks and in the next scene, use the Hookshot on
the stone on the other side of the pit to be pulled across. Once on the other
side, go up the steps out of the cave. Next, go right and up to the next screen
and walk right into the keyhole to use the Face Key to unlock the shrine! Now,
go back down to the previous screen and up the steps. Then, go up and walk
inside the Face Shrine (Level 6)!

Face Shrine
-----------

From the start of the dungeon, go up around the statues, then left into the
next room. In this room, just run through and take the left path up to the
following room. Here, defeat the Mini Moldorm if you want while avoiding the
Spark moving around the room, otherwise continue upward to the next area.
There, simply go left into the next room and defeat the Mask-Mimic there. Now,
place a Bomb next to the crystal switch, and then stand behind the presently
lowered block in the upper-right corner. When the bomb explodes and that block
raises up, go up to the next room. In this room, place a Bomb in front of the
right wall in between the lights to blow open a passageway. Take it into the
next room. Here, sprinkle Magic Powder in a lantern to illuminate the room,
then go around and kill all the Gels that pop out of the ground. After they are
all killed, a stairway will appear; go down it. In the basement, go left and up
the ladder and continue left through the next scene, then up the last ladder to
the next area. In the room you emerge in, defeat the Mini Moldorm. Then, wait
until the Wizzrobes appear and use the Exploding Arrows trick (Secrets section
of this guide) to defeat them both quickly. When the door opens, go through to
the next room. In this room, go up the left steps and open the chest to get the
Level 2 Power Bracelet, which replaces your first one! Next, use the Bracelet
to lift up the giant statues, then go up through the one-way door. In this
room, defeat the Mask-Mimic again and hit the crystal switch with your sword.
Now, place a bomb by the switch and stand behind the upper-left lowered block
and wait. When the bomb explodes and the blocks rise and fall go up to the next
room. Then in that room, lift up the pot in the corner to reveal a switch
underneath it. Stand on it to open the west door, then go through to the
following room.

In this room, use the Exploding Arrows trick again to beat the Wizzrobes
without hitting the crystal switch in the corner). Open the chest that appears
to get a Map, then go up to the next room. Now, take a pot to the right and
throw it at the closed door to open it! Go up into the next room, then from
there continue right to another room. In this room, defeat the Star and open
the chest to get the Compass, then go up the steps and hit the crystal switch
to the left. Now, go right and down to the next room, then go right through a
couple more rooms until you can go up. In the room with the many lowered
blocks, defeat the Wizzrobes to make a Key appear. Take it, and then backtrack
a few rooms back to the room where you found the Compass. From there, go left
to the next room and take a large statue with the Power Bracelet and throw it
at the north door to open it. Go into that room. There, go up the steps and
open the chest to get 100 rupees, then go up the steps behind it to go outside
where you'll be on an island in the middle of the rapids! Open the chest to get
a Seashell, then go back down into the dungeon. Once inside, play Manbo's Mambo
on the Ocarina to be warped to the dungeon's entrance. Now, go right to the
next room instead of left. Here, just get past the large statues and conveyor
belt floors while avoiding the Blade Traps! Then, go right to the following
room. In that room, avoid all the Flying Tiles that'll uproot from the floor,
then go through the door after it opens to enter the next room. In the next
room, take a statue and throw it at the east door to open it, then go to the
next room. In that room, defeat the Wizzrobes like in other parts of this
dungeon, then go through the upper-right door that opens after you beat them.
In this room, go up and down the steps, and then go north to the next room.
Continue through the next room to the room after it; open the chest in that
room to get a Key.

Now, backtrack a few rooms to the room with a locked door. There, go up and use
a Key on the locked door and go into the next room. There, defeat the Gels and
their smaller counterparts while avoiding the torches' fireballs. Then, use a
bomb in the middle of the north wall to blow a hole in it. Go through the hole
into the next room, where you'll have to fight Smasher! Throw the orb at it
numerous times to defeat it. After you beat it, take the Fairy and go up to the
next room. In this room, lift up the large statue to the left and go down the
steps there. Here, jump from platform to platform and go left to the next area.
Then, jump from ladder to ladder and go up the last one to the room above.
There, evade all the Flying Tiles, but be careful because there will be many
holes in the floor! Take the Key after the tiles are gone, then get to the
upper corner of the room and unlock the keyhole block, the go up to the next
room. Here, go up and lift up the large statue, then throw it at the door to
the left, then continue to the next room. In that room, lift up and throw away
all the pots, then throw around the horseheads until they both stand up and the
doors open. Go left into the next room; go down the steps in that room to the
basement again. Use the Pegasus Boots to run all the way to the right to the
other ladder so you don't get crushed by any Thwomps! Climb the ladder to enter
the next room. In that room, play the song Marin taught you on the Ocarina to
instantly kill all the Pols Voices and open the doors! Go down to the next room
where you'll fight 2 Dodongo Snakes! Feed the, bombs until they're defeated,
and then go left to the next room. In this room, use the Hookshot to cross the
gap, then use the Key on the keyhole block, and then continue left and up to
the next room.

Continue up to the following room, then in that room, take a pot and throw it
at the chest to open it to get the Nightmare Key! Now, play Manbo's Mambo to
get to the entrance, then walk through the warp to get to where you beat
Smasher. From there, go up to the next room and lift up the left statue to
reveal the stairs again. Go down the steps and get through the basement like
before, then climb the ladder at the end to enter the next room. There, get
across the floor before the tiles rise and go down into the next room. Try and
get around the room when the Vacuum Mouth isn't going and defeat all the Gels.
After you beat them, go right into the next room. In this room, push the block
next to the wall forward, and then defeat the Wizzrobe. Now, go back left and
use the Hookshot to grab onto the block with a ledge in front of it. When you
reach the other side, push the block up and go into the following room. Here,
sprinkle Magic Powder in the unlit lanterns to turn the Sparks into Fairies.
Then, unlock the door with the Nightmare Key and go into the room to meet
Faade! When it first appears, the room will shake and the tiles and pots will
all fly towards you. Avoid them and the real fight will begin! Read the Bosses
section of this guide for information on beating Faade. After you beat it,
take the Heart Container and enter the last room to obtain the Coral Triangle!

When you're back outside again, go down the steps to the next screen. The owl
will appear here and warn you that the monsters fear that the Wind Fish is
going to awake, so they're getting more powerful to prevent that! After you
listen to the owl and it leaves, continue down and jump off the ledge into the
water. Then, swim left to the next screen. There, swim up to and walk up the
steps out of the water. Next, go left to the next screen, and continue through
it to the following screen. Here, go up to the next scene, then go left. Then,
go down to the next screen and up the steps to the higher ledge. Walk left to
the next scene and go down the steps on the other side, then go up to the
following screen. Follow the path left, then down, then left again; you should
now be in the scene with the warp. Now, go left yet another screen, then down 2
screens. You should see a large pit. Use the Pegasus Boots combined with Roc's
Feather to jump over it. Go up to the nearby sign and press A; it'll tell you
to go down. So, follow it down into the Signpost Maze.

Signpost Maze
-------------

Since it takes a little while to navigate through the Signpost Maze, please
consult my Signpost Maze Map, found exclusively at GameFAQs, to get through
this area. After you get to the last sign and press A, a staircase will appear
nearby. Take it into an underground chamber, and walk towards the large frog
named Mamu (it resembles Wart from SMB2 for those of you who remember). It'll
start talking to you and offer to play its song only if you pay it 300 rupees!
Pay it, listen to the song, then after it's finished, you'll learn the Frog's
Song of Soul (the 3rd song on your Ocarina)! Then, go back up the steps to the
outside.

Now, go up 2 screens to the scene with the large pit. Jump over it like before,
then continue up to the following screen. Lift up the stones, then cut down the
bushes and go left back into Mabe Village. Go left to the scene with the Flying
Rooster statue and stand in front of it. Then, walk straight up into it and
it'll move, revealing a secret staircase! Go down the steps, then go up to the
next part of the cave and go up the steps. Then, stand in front of the pile of
bones and play the Frog's Song of Soul on the Ocarina. It'll revive the dead
flying rooster from its bones! Now that you have the bird, walk back down and
go up the steps out of the passageway. Back outside, play Manbo's Mambo on the
Ocarina to warp up to Manbo's Pond, which just saved you a few minutes of
walking all the way up there! Now, walk out of the pond and go right to the
next screen. Then, lift up the stone blocking your path, and then continue up
approximately 2 screens. Next, Go left 2 screens and defeat the 2 swordless Pig
Warriors, then lift up the stones and go up and right to the next screen.
Continue right 2 more screens, and then go up the steps on that screen to the
following screen. Here, the owl will appear again and remind you to head east.
After it flies away, lift up the stones in the way and enter the cave. Inside,
go up and right while defeating the Hardhat Beetle and Keese along the way. In
the second half of that room, defeat some Gels and push the large stones around
to make a path to the steps. Then, go down the steps to the next room. Here,
continue right and defeat more Keese and Gels then go up the steps at the end
to the upper level again. Then, just go right and down then dash through the
crystal structures with the boots and sword. Then, exit through the doorway at
the end. Now, go right to the next screen, then go down the steps and continue
right until you reach the long stairway heading upward. When you get there, go
up the long set of steps, then go left across the bridge and continue for
another couple screens and you'll see a cave; go inside the cave.

In the cave, go up and left into the next room. Then, get to the lower-left
corner of the room, and then pick up the Rooster with the Power Bracelet and
fly up and right over the pits. Now, push the button that the bracelet is
assigned to again to drop back down and go up to the following room. Here, use
the rooster again to fly over the large gap, then land on the small ledge and
go left to the next room. Here, fly or jump over the small pit and go up the
steps and claim the Bird Key! Now, backtrack out of the cave the same way you
entered and go right a couple screens across the bridge. Then, go down the long
set of stairs and continue swimming right to the next screen. Here, enter the
cave you see. Inside this cave, go up and right while either avoiding or
defeating the Sharks, then continue right to the following room. Next, continue
right and out of the cave, then go right to the next screen and enter that
cave. Inside, go up and right. Defeat all Gels and Keese along the way then
continue right and down out of the cave. Once outside again, go left and enter
the next cave. Here, go right and down the steps, then jump over the pit and go
up the steps and continue right. Go right and down and defeat the Gels while
trying your best to avoid the Hardhat Beetle, the go down to the next room. Use
the Hookshot on the rock on the other side of the gap to get across, then go
down and drop off the ledge and exit the cave. Now, go slightly right and up
into another cave! Here, go up and defeat the Gels, then go up the steps in the
second room. Next, knock the Hardhat Beetle into the pit, then go down and left
and out of the cave. Now, go left to the next screen and lift up the stone
directly in front of the keyhole. Then, walk into the keyhole to use the key
and activate the tower. When it's finished rotating and the entrance appears,
go up the steps and into the Eagle's Tower!

Eagle's Tower
-------------

From the start, go right to the next room. When you enter the room, activate
the Blade Trap and step back so it doesn't hit you, then walk forward when it
retracts. Use the feather to jump over the spikes, then continue straight right
along the path, then jump more spikes and dodge the trap, and then enter the
next room. Here, defeat the 2 Like Likes to make a Key appear. Take it and
unlock the door, then go up into the next room. Then, just go straight forward
and up the steps to the 2nd floor. In this room, go up into the following room.
Walk up the steps and use the Power Bracelet to lift up the orb. Instead of
tapping the button you equipped the bracelet with, keep it pressed in even
after you're holding the orb. Now, go back down the steps and go to the lever
to the right. Walk up to it and go backwards to pull it while holding the orb
to make the blocks blocking the doorway move. Pull it until you can't any more,
then quickly go left and to the next room. Here, throw the orb at the first
pillar and defeat the Gels that pop out of the floor. Then, get next to the
right wall and walk straight down, and then throw the orb to the other side of
the barrier. Next, go around the barrier and stand in between where the 2 gaps
meet, then jump diagonally down and right to the ledge with the orb, then pick
it up and go to the next room. Here, throw the orb downward into the spikes,
and then jump over the small pit. Put on the Power Bracelet and walk into the
spikes and quickly take the orb and get out of the spikes! Then, throw the orb
at the second pillar, then pick it up again and go down to the next room. Here,
hit the crystal switch, and then throw the orb over the barrier. Now, play
Manbo's Mambo on the Ocarina to warp to the dungeon's entrance, then go right a
couple rooms, then up one. Go up the steps into the room on the second floor
and open the now accessible chest to get the Mirror Shield! Now, go down and
right and while standing on a lowered block, hit the crystal switch to raise
them. Then, walk down to the next room. There, just go down and left to the
following room.

In that room, defeat the Gels, then shoot an arrow at the crystal switch to
activate it. Next, go up the stairs to the 3rd floor. Here, just take the path
up to the next room, and then follow the path up and right into the following
room. In this room, you'll have to beat the Grim Creeper mini-boss. Simply
defeat the 6 Big Keese he summons and you'll beat him and make the warp appear.
Now, go right and up to the next room. Here, push the 2 blocks in the middle of
the room together (be careful on pushing the block to the right so the Spark
doesn't hurt you) to make a chest appear. Open it to get the Nightmare Key!
Now, backtrack a bunch of rooms all the way back downstairs to the room where
you left the orb. Pick up the orb and go left to the next room. Here, drop the
orb and beat the Three-of-a-Kinds to make a chest appear. Now, pick up the orb
and continue to the next room. Throw the orb on the ground and fight the Hinox,
then after you beat it, take the Key that appears, as well as the Fairy and the
orb and go up to the next room. Here, just go up and through the one-way door
into the next room. Here, throw the orb to the right corner and defeat the
Anti-Fairy with a sprinkle of Magic Powder, then watch out for the flying tiles
and the pits they make. After all the tiles are destroyed, jump over the pits
and pick up the orb, then go right into the next room. Here, throw the orb at
the third pillar. Then, push the block to the right into the pit and throw the
orb across to the other side. Now, look at the south wall and you'll see 2
torches and part of the wall in between them; place a bomb there. When it
explodes, go through the passage to the next room. Go straight down and do the
same for the next wall. Then, go down into the next room. Here, use the
Hookshot to hook onto the chest that appeared on the other side of the narrow
gap, then open it to get ONE Bomb. Then, drop down the pit (don't worry; you
won't get hurt) and you'll land on the floor below. When you land, head right
through 2 rooms and up one, then go up the steps to the next floor. Here, go up
to the next room with the lever. Pull it with the bracelet and run left to the
next room.

Then, go down and jump over the part where the 2 pits meet, then go down 2 more
rooms to the room with the crystal switch. Hit the switch with your sword, then
go back up to the previous room and take the left path up to the following
room. Here, push the block up and go left into the next room. Pick up the orb
and go back right and push the block out of the way. Then, go down 2 rooms and
throw the orb over the barrier again. Now, play Manbo's Mambo to warp to the
entrance of the tower, then step into the warp to get to the 3rd floor. Then,
go left and follow the path left and down to the next room and go down the
steps there. In the next room, pick up the orb yet again and carry it left to
the following room. There, throw it up across the narrow pit. Then, continue to
the next room. Continue up through the next couple rooms, and avoid the tiles
in the second room. Then, go right and down through the passages, then use the
Hookshot to cross the narrow gap again. Next, pick up the orb with the bracelet
and go up to the next room. There, throw it at the final pillar and you'll see
a scene with the top floor collapsing onto the tower's 3rd floor. Now, play
Manbo's Mambo and when you're back at the entrance, walk into the warp to be
brought up to the 3rd floor. Go left into the new room and continue left to the
following room. In this room, defeat the 3 Goombas and open the Nightmare door
with the Nightmare Key and go up into that room. Defeat a couple more Goombas,
then go up the steps. Then, use the Hookshot on the block on the other ledge to
get across, then defeat the Goomba and go down to the next room. Here, just go
right into the following room and up the stairs to get outside. Then, climb the
ladder up to the top of the tower and you'll meet the Evil Eagle, piloted by
the Grim Creeper! Read the Bosses section of this guide for information on
defeating Evil Eagle. After you beat it, take the Heart Container and climb
back down the ladder and go back inside. Now, drop down to the lower ledge to
the right and into the now open room to claim the Organ of Evening Calm!

Now that you're outside of the Eagle's Tower, which you just beat, walk
straight down and fall off the edge of the cliff. You'll fall into a pit on the
next screen, then land in an area of deep water at the bottom of the mountain
range. Swim out of the cave and go down one screen, then go up the steps onto
the dry land. Next, go left to the next screen, and then continue west all the
way until you see another set of steps going upward. Go up those steps when you
reach them, then go right and lift up the stone with the Power Bracelet. Then,
defeat the Pig Warriors there and go up and left to the following screen. Next,
go up the steps in this scene to the next screen. Now, lift up the stones there
and enter the cave. Inside the cave, go up and right and defeat the Keese and
knock the Hardhat Beetle into the pit, then go right to the next part of the
room. There, push the stones around so you can get to the steps, then go down
them to get into the next room. In this room, go right and defeat the Gels and
Keese along the way then go up the steps at the end. Go right to the next room,
then equip the Pegasus Boots and dash through the crystal things. Then, go down
and out of the cave through the second exit like you've done on the way to
Eagle's Tower. Back outside, go right to the next screen and go down the steps.
Next, go right 3 screens to the area of deep water. Go into the water and go up
the long set of steps to the following screen. Then, go left 2 screens across
the bridge, then up the steps on the second screen. Now, continue left to the
broken bridge. Use the Hookshot on the rock on the other side to be pulled
over, then go to the next screen. Here, you'll find Marin on a bridge plank
trapped there. Walk towards the edge and she'll tell you monsters trapped her
there and she's scared of heights. Help her by standing on the upper section of
the bridge and use the Hookshot on the rock on the other side; you'll grab
Marin as you pass her.

When you reach the other side, she'll thank you and start to tell you
something, but Tarin comes and ruins it! He'll call to her, then Marin will
leave and the owl will fly in. It'll tell you about Marin singing the Ballad of
the Wind Fish in front of the egg, then it'll let you know that the final
instrument is to the west. After it flies away, go left to the next screen and
cut down the bush and go down the steps that are revealed. Inside the cave,
drop off the ledge and go left to the next room. Drop down to the lower area
and go down the steps. In this room, simply go left to the next room where
you'll find another large pit. Use the Hookshot on the rock on the other side
to cross over the pit. Then, continue left to the next room, where you can
defeat a couple of Keese and exit the cave, which will leave you in what is
considered the Western Tal Tal Mountains.

Western Tal Tal Mountains
-------------------------

Now that you're in the western half of the mountain range, you're now going to
deal with falling boulders, which shouldn't present a problem for you! Anyway,
go left to the next screen while avoiding the boulders from above. Defeat a
Mini Moldorm and go up the steps while avoiding the boulders, then continue
right to the next screen. Here, avoid the boulders again and go right and up
the steps to the next screen. There, just go left to the following screen.
Here, defeat another Mini Moldorm and open the chest to get 50 rupees. Then,
continue left across the bridge to the next screen. Drop off the ledge to the
next screen, then go down and left and defeat the Like Like and Shrouded
Stalfos. Then, go up to the crack in the wall and place a Bomb there; when it
explodes and reveals a cave, go inside it. Inside the cave, go up to the next
screen. Then, equip the Mirror Shield and hold it in front of you, then walk
upward into the flames. The shield will reflect the flames so you can pass!
When you have enough room, go left and up the steps out of the cave. Outside,
defeat the Leever that appears in front of you, and then go left to the next
screen. Go south to the screen below, and then go left to the following screen.
Defeat the Like Like and a couple of Leevers, then continue left to the next
screen. Defeat the Moblin and continue left once again and you'll see the
Turtle Rock. Defeat the Crows sitting on its stone claws, and then stand in
front of the head. Play the Frog's Song of Soul (#3 on the Ocarina) and it'll
make the turtle's head come to life! When it extends its head, just hit it
repeatedly with your sword to destroy it. When it disappears, go up and enter
Turtle Rock, the 8th and final dungeon before the Egg.

Turtle Rock
-----------

From where you begin this dungeon, go straight up the hall to the following
room. Here, shoot arrows at the Winged Demon to defeat it and open the locked
doors, and then go left into the next room. In this room, defeat the Snake
Ropes while avoiding the laser eye that shoots lasers at you. Then, go up
through the now open door into the next room. Defeat the Hinox in this room
like you have many times in the past dungeons, then take the small Fairy that
appears and go left into the next room. In this room, you'll see a weird block
in front of you; walk into it to get it moving. Let it go all the way left,
then down until it stops, then walk along the path down into the next room.
Here, jump over the small gap and avoid the Sparks, then open the chest to get
50 rupees. Now, jump back over the gap and go left into the following room,
where you'll fight the Rolling Bones mini-boss. Defeat it by jumping over the
spiked log it pushes towards you then hit it repeatedly with your sword. After
it's defeated and the doors open, go up into the next room. Use your bow and
arrows here to defeat the Winged Demon flying around, then take the Key that
falls from above. Now, play Manbo's Mambo to warp to the entrance of Turtle
Rock. When you arrive there, go up to the following room and jump over to the
platform almost completely surrounded by lava, then go up to the next room.
Here, simply go right to the next room and you'll find another of those blocks
that create tiles as it moves. Stand right behind it and push it to move, then
let it go to the other side and stop. Then, walk across the new path and jump
over the lava to the ledge to the left, then go up to the next room. Here, go
left to the connecting room and go down the steps there into the basement.
There, jump from ledge to ledge to the other side of the screen. Be sure to
jump when the fireballs aren't coming up out of the lava; one way to avoid them
is to jump as they drop into the lava again.

In the next area of this basement floor, jump and grab onto the small ladder,
then go right along them while avoiding the Podoboos that come from the lava
below. Climb the ladder at the end to enter the room above. There, lift up the
pots throughout the room and throw them at the snake enemies. If you miss with
the pots, just attack them with the sword. Open the chest in the room to get
the Stone Beak, then go up to the next room. Here, you'll have to fight the
mini-boss, Smasher. Defeat it by throwing the orb it throws around back at it.
Repeat that process until it's defeated, then take the Fairy that appears and
go left into the next room. Here, you'll find another one of those tile-making
blocks and you have to push it around so it covers up ALL the gaps in the
floor. Do that by pushing it left to start it up, then move it left 2 screens,
then go up 1, left 1, up 1, left 1, up 1, left 2, down 1, right 2. Go down 1,
right 1, down 1, right 1, down 1, right 1, down 1, right 1, up 1, right 1, down
1, and right 1. A Key will appear; take it. Now, play Manbo's Mambo to return
to the dungeon's entrance. When you get there, go up to the next room and jump
over the lava area, then continue up to the following room. Go right to the
area with the tile-making block. Push that block upward to make it go, then let
it go up 3 squares. Then, make it go right 2 squares, then make it go up one
and it'll stop. Now, walk along this path you made; when you get to the blocks,
push the one to the right into the lava, then continue up to the next room.
Here, go up and use a Key on the keyhole block, then go right to the next room.
Go right through this room and avoid the Winged Demon, then unlock the door
with your Key and go into the next room. Here, use Roc's Feather to jump to the
right so the Blade Traps don't get you, then lift up a pot to the right.

Then, go right and up and use the feather to jump over the path of the traps
and go through the one-way door. In the next room, walk around and defeat every
Gel that you find. After you beat them all, the north door will open. Go
through that door into the following room. There, go up to the area with the
cracked floor and defeat the Gibdos (mummies) while constantly moving around to
avoid falling through the floor! Also, jump in the air and grab the Winged
Powder and Hearts. Then, take the Key that appears and go around the blocks and
go left into the next room. Here, just avoid the Dodongo Snakes and continue up
and left into the following room. In this room, jump over the lava-filled gap
and stand on the middle platform. Defeat the Gels that appear, then jump over
the second gap to the left and beat a couple more Gels. Then, unlock the door
with a Key and enter that room. In this room, go down and left around the
barrier, then take the Winged Arrows by using the feather to help, then go left
into the next room. Here, just go left and defeat the Snake Ropes, then go up
the steps that lead outside of Turtle Rock. Outside, defeat a Mini Moldorm and
a Crow, then climb the steps and take a Heart Piece. Then go back down the
steps and go right across the bridge to the next scene. Defeat another Crow and
continue right past the warp and to the next scene. Here, defeat a Shrouded
Stalfos, and then go back inside the rock through the cave entrance you see.
You'll be on a ledge above the "pit" of Dodongo Snakes. Beat them by placing a
bomb, then picking it up. When a snake is moving upward straight towards you,
throw the bomb down and it'll eat it and get injured. Repeat that process until
both snakes are destroyed and the treasure chest appears. Open it to get a Key.
Now, go left to the next room and drop off the high ledge. Then, continue left
through the next couple of rooms until you're in the room with the Snake Ropes
and Winged Demon.

From there, go down to the next room and take out the bow and arrows. Shoot an
arrow at the Cyclops statue's eye to make a Key appear. Take it and go left
into the next room. In this room, walk around and stand right next to the chest
on its left side that is). Push the block in front of you downward, and then
push the one to the right of you to the right. Now, open the chest to get a
Key. Now, play Manbo's Mambo on the Ocarina to warp to the entrance of Turtle
Rock. Once you get there, go up a couple of rooms, then go right one. You'll be
in the room with the tile-making block. Push it upward to get it moving, then
make it go up only one square, then let it go all the way to the right. When it
stops, walk along the path and go right to the next room. There, go straight to
the right wall and place a bomb there. When it explodes and another passageway
opens, take it into that room and hit the crystal switch in that room. Then,
play Manbo's Mambo again to warp to the level's entrance. Now that you're back
at the entrance, go up 2 rooms and right one room. Push the tile block and make
it move up 3 squares, right 2, and up one. Then, walk up the path and push the
block in the way right into the lava. Then, continue to the next room. Next, go
right 2 rooms, then up through the one-way door into the following room. Here,
defeat some Gels, then bomb the left wall to make a passageway in the wall; go
through it into the next room. Here, this room is very dark, but if you're
playing Zelda DX on the GBC unit, you could see the floor just enough to avoid
the pits. Go up to the wall, then jump left over the pit. Then, go down and
defeat a couple of Gels and unlock the keyhole block with a Key, and then go
into the next room. Here's another easy to navigate dark room; just go up and
left and defeat a Snake Rope. Then, follow the path left into the next room.

Here, simply go left a couple steps, then up the steps and use the Key on the
keyhole block. Then, go right to the next room. Here, go right and light a
lantern with Magic Powder. Now that you can see, use the Hookshot on a block
towards the bottom of the screen to be pulled to the other ledge. Then, use
your last Key and go down the steps. In this section of the basement, wait
until the platform moves as far to the left as possible, then jump onto it.
Ride it to the right and jump over the small ledge halfway across the lava.
Also, avoid the Podoboos that come out of the lava as well. Jump onto the ledge
to the right and go right to the next room. Here, jump across the moving
platforms, and then go up the ladder into the next room. In this room, drop off
the ledge and go down into the next room to fight Blaino, the mini-boss. Read
about him in the Mini-Bosses part of the Enemies section of this guide for help
on beating him. After you win, go up through the door that opened into the
other half of the room you were just in. Go up the sets of steps, then go left
and open the chest to get the Magic Rod! Now, go back to the room where you
fought Blaino and enter the warp to get to the dungeon's entrance again. Once
there, go up to the next room. Defeat the Winged Demon, and then go left into
the next room. Here, beat the snakes to open the door; go through it to fight
Hinox. Beat it, and then go left to the next room. Push the block left until
you can move it up. At that point, move it up and go up into that room. Here,
defeat the 2 Snake Ropes, then take out the Magic Rod and use it to light the 2
out-of-reach lanterns to make a chest appear. Open it to get a Key. Now,
backtrack a few rooms back to the second room where you saw the Winged Demon.
From there, go up to the next room. Then, go right into the following room, and
push the tile-maker up so it gets moving. Let it go up one square, then make it
go all the way right. After it stops walk on the new path and go downward up
the steps and into the upper floor area.

Here, use the Magic Rod to melt the ice. Shoot it directly to the left so it
melts the entire bottom row. Then, go left and kill the Goombas and continue to
the next half. Here, jump up and shoot to the left so you melt the entire
second row. Now, jump onto the first row and walk left, then jump onto the last
ledge and descend the ladder into the next room. In this room, go down and
unlock the door with your final Key and enter that room to fight Cue Ball. Beat
it like you did in Angler's Tunnel, then go left and up into the next room.
Here's another room with that annoying tile-making block. Here, follow my
directions EXACTLY and you'll do it all correctly. First, push the block upward
to get it going, and then let it go up 3 squares, then turn it right. Go right
2 squares, down 1, right 1, up 1, and right 2. Next, go down 2, left 4, down 2,
right 1, up 1, and right 1. Then go down 1, right 1, down 1, and finally, right
1. If done correctly, a chest should appear in the right side of the room; open
it to get the Nightmare Key. Now, play Manbo's Mambo yet again to warp to the
entrance. When you get there, go up 2 rooms, and then go right one to the room
with the tile-maker. Push it up so it moves, then let it go up one square, then
right to the end. Walk right along this path to the next room and go right and
up the steps in the corner. First thing to do here is climb up to the top of
the ladder, then melt the ice directly to the left of your position. Then, go
left to the wall and shoot upward to melt the ice there above you. Next, jump
up and shoot to the left to melt the row of ice. Jump onto the ledge and take a
step to the left. Shoot downward with the Magic Rod to melt the ice and kill a
Goomba below! When you land on the lower platform, go left to the wall and then
shoot up at the other vertical row of ice. Next, jump up and shoot to the right
to melt some more ice. Now, go right and jump onto the ice block that I didn't
tell you to melt. Go right to the wall, then go left and jump in the air and
shoot the ice block to the left with the Magic Rod. Then, repeat the process to
land on that ledge and continue left to the next room.

Here, climb down the ladder to the floor below and shoot the Magic Rod to the
left and melt the bottom row of ice. Then, stand below the second column of ice
from the right and shoot upward to melt it. Now, climb back up the ladder and
fall onto the lone ice cube next to it. Then, jump left to the steps that the
ice blocks make and jump up them and go down the ladder into the next room.
Here, just go up and use the Nightmare Key to open the door. Enter the room to
fight the boss, Hothead! Read the Bosses section for help on beating Hothead.
After you beat it, take the Heart Container and go up into the next room and
take the Thunder Drum, the final Instrument!

Now that you've pretty much completed all the game's objectives, the only thing
left is to go to the Wind Fish's Egg for the final showdown. To get there from
where you are, play the Manbo's Mambo on the Ocarina to warp to Manbo's Pond.
Then, use the Power Bracelet and lift up the block next to the pond and go left
to the next screen. Then, jump over the pits with the feather and go up to the
next screen. Go right to the next screen, then go up to the following screen.
Here, use the Power Bracelet to lift up the stones again, then go up and right
to the next screen. Then, go up the steps to the next screen and you'll see the
owl again. It'll tell you that when you play the Instruments in front of the
Egg, the Wind Fish will awaken; that's the only way to leave the island. After
it flies away, go up the steps to the Egg. Play the Ballad of the Wind Fish
(the song Marin taught you). After it's finished, the Egg will crack open and
the owl will appear again and tell you to enter the Egg, so do as it says!

Wind Fish's Egg
---------------

Inside the dark egg, walk straight north to the next room. Here, just keep
walking and you'll fall into a pit. You'll land in a light room with 4
different ways you can go. Consult the 3 different paths in the Secrets section
of this guide to find out where to go in this room. At the end of the path that
works for you, you'll come to a pit; drop into it and prepare for the final
showdown with the Nightmares! Read the Boss Strategies section for information
on defeating each of the Nightmare Shadows. After you beat them, you'll know
what to do next. After that, congratulations, you just completed Zelda DX!

-= 6. Color Dungeon Guide -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

There is a hidden dungeon, which you can only enter if you're playing Zelda DX
in the Game Boy Color unit. To get into it, go to the Graveyard and look for
the section of it with only 5 tombstones on the screen. First, go to the bottom
center stone and push it downward. Next, push the lower left stone to the left.
Then, push the upper left stone upward. Next, push the middle stone in the top
row to the right. Finally, push the upper right tombstone upward to reveal the
stairs leading into the dungeon!

In the first room inside, talk to the two color guys at the top of the screen
and answer both of their questions to pass them. In the next room, defeat the 3
color enemies that come out of the ground, then enter the room to the right. In
this room, there are 4 colored eyeball statues; two are red, two are blue. Your
job is to strike them with your sword until they're all blue. Whenever you hit
one, the statues to its sides change color, so keep that in mind. To make this
set entirely blue, strike the top-left statue, then the bottom-right one;
they'll all be blue and a chest will appear. Open the chest to get the Compass,
then go to the next room. In the next room, bounce your way across the
multi-colored tiles to the other side, then go through the right door to the
next room. In this room, there are two creatures: one with a red shell, one
with a blue. There are also two holes in the room, one with a red rim and the
other one with a blue rim. You have to strike the shell guys so they curls up
into their shells, then pick them up with the Power Bracelet or hit them with
your sword into their corresponding holes. Open the chest that appears to get
the Stone Beak, then go down (not up) to the next room. In the next room,
defeat the 4 color enemies that come out of the floor to attack like before to
open the door to the next room. Continue into the next room and you'll see
those multi-colored tiles again with a couple flying enemies above them. Bounce
across towards the solid piece of land with a chest on it while trying to avoid
the floating enemies, then open the chest to get a Key. Next, bounce to the top
of the room and go through the one-way door; in the room you end up in, go
right and you'll be in the room that you can go either up or down. This time,
go up and into the other room. In this room, simply bounce across to the other
side of the room and go up to the following room.

In the next room, you'll see 4 eyeball statues like before, and you have to
make them all blue again! To make them all blue this time, hit the bottom right
statue once, then hit the top-left one twice to turn it blue, making a Key
appear. Take the Key and enter the next room to the right. Defeat the 3 color
creatures that come out of the ground to open the door, then enter the room at
the top of the screen to meet one of the mini-bosses! The "Big Gel" mini-boss
is similar to the first form of the Nightmare bosses; the sword doesn't affect
it. Instead, get close to it and use Magic Powder on it to hurt it. Repeat this
process until it's defeated, then head left. Go down a small bit and walk up to
the 3 movable blocks in your way. Push the top and bottom ones forward, and
then push the middle one downward to clear the way. Go up to the chest and open
it to get the Nightmare Key, then exit the room. Backtrack quite a few rooms
towards the dungeon's entrance until you're in the room with the colored tiles
and a locked door at the top of the screen. Bounce up to the door and open it
with the Key, then go through it to the room behind it to reach the second
mini-boss! This rock creature will jump in the air and make boulders fall down
after you, so use Roc's Feather to avoid getting stopped when it hits the
ground! Try and get close to it, then strike it with your sword. Repeat the
process until he's defeated, then take the Fairy that appears to recover your
health, then enter the next room to the left. Defeat the two bouncing winged
enemies in this room then make your way across the bouncing tiles to the
upper-left corner of the room where you'll find a pot. Lift up the pot and
stand on the switch beneath it to open the doors, then go through the door at
the top of the screen. In this room, defeat all the Gels that come out of the
floor when you walk by to make a chest appear. Open it to get the Map, then
enter the room to the right. In the next room, there are 4 of those colored
shell enemies that you have to put into their own holes! Do like you did before
in the room with only two of them until they're all in their own holes.

After they're where they all belong, a Key will appear. Take the Key and
backtrack a couple rooms back to the one with the switch under the pot. This
time, enter the door to the left. You'll see 9 of those eyeball statues that
all have to be turned blue! The quickest way to make them all blue is to hit
them in this order. First, hit the center statue, and then hit the one directly
to the right of it. Then, hit the left one in the middle row, then the middle
statue in the top row. Next, hit the middle one in the bottom row, and then hit
the center one again. They should all become blue and the door will open; go
through the door at the top of the screen. In the next room, just go through
the left door to the following room. Walk along the bottom wall and hit the
crystal at the end of the path to lower the blocks near the top of the room.
Then, go around and open the door with the Nightmare Key, then enter the room
and get ready for the real boss! Read the Bosses section of this guide for
information on beating it (it's listed right after the 6 Shadows). After you
beat it, go right to the next room and talk to the Fairy.

She'll give you the power of color, which is either the Red or Blue Mail. The
Red Mail makes it so that whenever you attack, it hits as if you have collected
a Piece of Power, and the Blue Mail protects you from attacks as if you've
collected a Guardian Acorn. Pick whichever you want, and the Fairy will escort
you back outside. You can always go through the dungeon again and talk to the
Fairy to change your color if you want!

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Selectable Items/Weapons
------------------------

Bomb: You can use this item to blow open holes in hollow walls or defeat many
enemies. They are very common because you can buy them at the Shop in Mabe
Village after you purchase the Shovel and enemies sometimes drop them when
defeated.

Boomerang: This has to be one of the strongest weapons in the game because of
its power! You can only get it after you have the Magnifying Glass. You have to
blow open a wall at Toronbo Shores and trade the item in your B button for it.
(The Shovel should be the item that you trade for the Boomerang.)

Bow and Arrow: This is a very useful weapon in the later stages of the game.
Unfortunately, it costs 980 rupees in the Mabe Village shop, so you'll have to
save up for this item and buy it before entering the Catfish's Maw. You can
also find/buy Arrows for the Bow in the shop as well.

Hookshot: This is another quite useful item/weapon, especially in the second
half of the game! You find it in the Catfish's Maw dungeon. This item is
helpful because you can shoot it at an object (pottery, rocks, chests, etc.)
and pull yourself to it! You can also attack enemies by hitting them with it.

Magic Powder: This special powder does quite mysterious things when used during
the game. You can sprinkle it into a darkened lantern to light it up or
sprinkle it on certain enemies to make them transform! You can either get this
for free by finding the Sleepy Mushroom in the forest and bringing it to the
witch in the Witch's Hut, or by buying it in the Mabe Village shop.

Magic Rod: The Magic Rod is definitely one of the most powerful items in the
game. Too bad you get it in the last dungeon (Turtle Rock)! You can use it to
burn the ice blocks throughout Turtle Rock or to scorch enemies with! You can
also light distant lanterns with this item/weapon.

Ocarina: This item has some important uses in the game. You find it in the
Dream Shrine after obtaining the Pegasus Boots. You can learn 3 different songs
to play on the Ocarina, each with different purposes. I'll get into more detail
about what each song does, as they're used throughout the game.

Pegasus Boots: This is another quite useful item! You find it in the Key Cavern
and they allow you to run really fast! You also can use these boots with the
Sword to do a "hit-and-run" attack! They have other uses, too, but you'll find
them out soon enough.

Power Bracelet: When you equip this item, you can lift up many things you
couldn't before! There are 2 different levels of this item: level 1 is found in
Bottle Grotto, and the level 2 one is found in the Face Shrine dungeon. This
item is definitely essential to getting through the game!

Roc's Feather: This really useful item, found in the Tail Cave, enables you to
jump in the air! You can use it to jump over small pits and to reach the Winged
Items floating in the air. This is probably one of the most useful items you'll
have in this game!

Shield: The Shield is your only protection against most enemy blows. You get it
in the beginning of the game from Tarin, Marin's father. There are 2 different
shields: one is the normal one, and the other is the Mirror Shield, found in
the Eagle's Tower, which can deflect much more than the regular shield can!

Shovel: This is useful for finding secrets during the first half of the game,
but becomes useless near the end. It can be bought from the Mabe Village shop
for 200 rupees, and it can be used only to dig up hidden items in the ground.

Sleepy Mushroom: This mushroom, which grows in the Mysterious Forest, can be
used to make Magic Powder. It has no real use except for making Magic Powder,
so I have nothing else to say about this item.

Sword: This is your primary weapon, which you should always have equipped! You
find it washed up on Toronbo Shores and is your only means of attack in the
early parts of the game! There are 2 different levels of strength of the sword:
level 1 is the sword you find at Toronbo Shores, and you get the level 2 sword
in the Seashell Mansion after collection 20 Secret Seashells!

Inventory (Non-selectable) Items
--------------------------------

Flippers: These flippers are essential to getting through the watery sections
of the game. You find them in the Angler's Cavern. To swim with them, hold the
Control Pad in the direction you want to go. Press A to swim faster and press B
to dive underwater for a short period of time.

Golden Leaves: These golden leaves are located in Kanalet Castle and Richard,
the former prince of this castle, asks that you retrieve these leaves for him.
You have to find the leaves in the castle, then bring them back to Richard and
he'll open up a secret passageway leading to an item you need to continue
through the game.

Secret Medicine: This special medicine is a useful item, especially in really
tough parts where you usually die. It refills all your hearts when you lose
them all! You can only buy this medicine from Crazy Tracy in her house north of
the Witch's Hut. The price for this item is cheap though.

Secret Seashells: These seashells are hidden throughout the island. There are a
total of 26 shells throughout the game, but you'll only need to collect 20 of
them. When you get 20, go to the Seashell Mansion to get your level 2 Sword!

Dungeon Items
-------------

Compass: This item shows you the locations of all unopened chests in the
dungeon you're in. It also makes a sound when you're in a room with a Key
hidden inside.

Map: The Map allows you to see all the rooms of that dungeon on the sub-menu.
Darker colored boxes are rooms you haven't yet entered and lighter colored
boxes are rooms you've been in.

Nightmare Key: This key allows you to open the door leading to the boss of that
dungeon. Small Keys won't open the Nightmare door, so you must have this key to
open it!

Small Key: You use these keys in the dungeons to unlock locked doors and blocks
with keyholes on them. You get these keys by doing certain things in some rooms
or find them in chests.

Stone Beak/Owl Statue: The Stone Beak allows you to hear a secret from the Owl
Statues in that dungeon. You can find the beak in a treasure chest in each
dungeon and there are a couple statues throughout the dungeon, too.

Other Items
-----------

Acorn of Defense: When you get this acorn, your defense power increases for a
period of time. You can keep its strength longer if enemies don't hit you that
much. If you do get hit a lot; its power will wear off quicker!

Heart: These small hearts recover 1 of your hearts. Enemies usually drop them
when you defeat them, so they're not hard to find!

Heart Containers/Pieces: You can get the Heart Containers, which adds a heart
to your maximum, by defeating the boss of each dungeon. The Heart Pieces are a
bit more difficult to find, though. You can find them in many places throughout
the game, and when you collect 4 of them, your maximum heart capacity increases
by one. Read the Heart Piece Location section of this guide to find out where
the Heart Pieces are located.

Piece of Power: This flashing triangle, sometimes dropped by enemies, doubles
the strength of attacks with your sword. They run out after a period of time
just like the Acorn of Defense.

Rupee: The currency of Koholint Island and all of the other Zelda games. You
find them after defeating enemies, in chests, and in many other places. You use
them to buy items at the shop or for other purposes.

Cukeman
    Effective Weapons/Items: H, R, B, A
Description: This walking blob can be considered both a bad guy and a good
guy in a way. The good part is that if you go up to and talk to it, it will

Fish
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H, M, R, B, A

Giant Goponga Flower
    Effective Weapons/Items: H, R
Description: This is an oversized swamp-dwelling flower that shoots small

Sand Crab
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H, M, R, B, A

them.

Description: These oversized, one-eyed spiders are back in this game as

doesn't attack itself, but it calls 6 Big Keese to appear. To win against this

bats, the Grim Creeper will disappear.

Hinox
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H, R, B, A

    Effective Weapons/Items: S
Description: This large Moblin living in a cave east of the Goponga Swamp
is definitely the king of Moblins just by its size! It shoots arrows at you,
then dashes straight towards you. Move out of the way and let it crash into the

it's defeated.

Master Stalfos
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, B
Description: This giant skeleton is found in the Catfish's Maw and appears
in 4 different rooms in which you must fight it. Each time you encounter it,
attack it by using the sword to make it collapse, then plant a bomb on it to
cause damage to it. After a few hits, it'll disappear into the next room you
must meet it in. After you beat it the 4th and final time, you'll win the
Hookshot!

Rolling Bones
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H, R, B, A

                        Legend
                        ------
                        S = Sword
                        M = Magic Powder
                        H = Hookshot
                        R = Magic Rod

                        B = Bomb
                        A = Arrows

Moldorm
    Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: The giant Moldorm is the boss of the Tail Cave. It's
only weakness is the tip of its tail. Get behind it, and then hit its tail;
that'll cause it to get an extra boost of speed for a moment. After it slows
down again, hit its tail again. Keep attacking its tail until you win.

Genie
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, P, B
Battle Strategies: This genie is the boss of the Bottle Grotto. It hides
inside of its protective bottle so it can't be hurt, but there's a way to hurt
it while it's inside. When the bottle bounces towards you, hit it with your
sword, then pick it up and throw it at the wall with the Power Bracelet.
That'll make the genie come out and throw fireballs at you. After he retreats
to his bottle, pick up and throw the bottle at the wall again. Do that 3 times
total to make the bottle break and the genie will have to fight you! Hit the
genie with your sword, then it'll spin around and then shoot a fireball at you.
Then, hit it again. Keep doing that until it's defeated.

Slime Eye
    Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: When you enter this boss's room, you won't see it. After
it taunts you, ram the wall with the Pegasus Boots to make the boss of the Key
Cavern fall to the ground. When it does, repeatedly hit it with your sword
until you see it splitting into 2 and there's just a small thread holding them
together. Then, ram that spot with the Pegasus Boots and the sword and it'll
split into 2 enemies! To beat them, hit them with your sword and use Roc's
Feather to jump in the air when they come crashing to the ground after you hit
them. Keep doing that until they're both defeated.

Angler Fish
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, B, A
Battle Strategies: This giant fish is the boss of the Angler's Tunnel. Its
weakness is a glowing tentacle above its head. To beat this fish, hit the
tentacle repeatedly with your sword while the fish moves up and down. If you're
not quick enough, the Angler will dash towards you to attack. Then, continue
hitting the tentacle until it's defeated.

Slime Eel
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H
Battle Strategies: When you enter this boss's chamber inside the Catfish's
Maw, a giant pit opens up in the middle of the room. Its tail pops out and
rotates around in a circle, then 4 holes in the walls appear. To beat this
creature, wait until you see the eel's head pop out of one of the 4 holes, then
when it opens its mouth, shoot the Hookshot into it while trying to avoid the
spiked tail. After you pull the eel out of the hole, hit the flashing heart
behind its head a few times with your sword. Watch out because there is also a
fake eel and if you pull it out, it'll explode! Keep pulling out and attacking
the real eel until it's defeated.

Faade
    Effective Weapons/Items: B
Battle Strategies: This giant face in the floor is the boss of the Face
Shrine dungeon. When you first enter this room, it'll make Flying Tiles come
out of the ground and fly after you, then it'll make the 4 pots fly towards
you. After you evade all those flying objects, plant a bomb on the face of
Faade. After it explodes, Faade will disappear, then reappear again. Repeat
the last step around 3 or 4 more times to defeat it.

Evil Eagle
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, H, B, A
Battle Strategies: This giant eagle that flies around atop the Eagle's
Tower is the boss of Level 7. After it first takes off and it flies onscreen
again, hit its beak with the Hookshot as it flies by. When it flies by 2 more
times, hit it both times. Then, it'll stop and start to shoot feathers and make
strong wind gusts come towards you. Use the Mirror Shield to keep the wind
gusts from blowing you off the tower as easily and to block the feathers shot
at you. Then, hit it again with the Hookshot when it flies by overhead.
Continue to hit its beak with the Hookshot until it's defeated.

Hot Head
    Effective Weapons/Items: R
Battle Strategies: This fiery boss is the guardian of the Thunder Drum deep
inside the Turtle Rock dungeon. It jumps in and out of the lava and
surprisingly doesn't actually attack you! The only weapon that can cause harm
to it is the Magic Rod, even though it shoots fire! When Hot Head comes out of
the lava, shoot it as many times as you can with the Magic Rod. Make sure to
ambush it with lots of hits when it is above the lava because when it dives
back in, it recovers and you'll have to start over. Continue to use the Magic
Rod until you eventually put out its flames and beat it!

The 6 Nightmare Shadows
    Effective Weapons/Items: S, M, R, B, A
Battle Strategies: The 6 Shadows deep inside the Wind Fish's Egg are the
final bosses of the game. There are obviously 6 of them, and I'll provide
separate strategies on beating each one below:

Giant Gel
---------

Effective Weapons/Items: M
Battle Strategies: This Giant Gel is the first of the 6 Shadows, but not the
absolute easiest (Lanmola's Shadow is!). When it appears, it'll make a small
hop forward. Go up to it and sprinkle Magic Powder on it to hurt it. Then, back
up and it'll take another small hop. Sprinkle more Magic Powder on it to cause
damage. Do this one more time to beat the Giant Gel and the shadow will become
Agahnim's Shadow!

Agahnim's Shadow
----------------

Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: The shadow of Agahnim attacks just the same as the real one
from Zelda 3 (A Link to the Past). When he casts a spell and a flashing ball
comes towards you, hit it with your sword back towards Agahnim to hurt him.
When he moves to another area of the room, do the same thing. Watch out,
though, because if he casts a spell and a bunch of small shots together come
towards you, they'll hurt you even though you hit them with your sword! Keep
hitting the flashing balls at him a few more times until he's defeated.

Shadow of Moldorm
-----------------

Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: This shadow is exactly like the original Moldorm boss you
fought back in the Tail Cave! Defeat this one the same way as the original: hit
its tail and watch out when it moves quickly after you hit it. Keep hitting it
a bunch of times until you defeat it.

Ganon's Shadow
--------------

Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: The shadow of Ganon from A Link to the Past is back as one
of the final nightmares. To beat this reincarnation, use the Pegasus Boots to
dash into Ganon and stab it with your sword. Keep ramming it while watching out
when he calls a bunch of bats to attack until you beat him!

Shadow of Lanmola
-----------------

Effective Weapons/Items: R
Battle Strategies: This just HAS to be the easiest of the shadows! When it
appears, just hit it once with your Magic Rod to defeat it!

Dethl
-----

Effective Weapons/Items: A
Battle Strategies: This is the last and hardest of the 6 Shadows. It has 2 long
tentacles that circle around its center area. Jump over the tentacles while
trying to stay in front of Dethl's middle area and wait until it opens its eye.
Then, shoot a bunch of arrows at its eye while avoiding the tentacles until the
eye closes. When it opens again, shoot more arrows into it. After you've
successfully shot about 20 arrows into its eye, Dethl will be defeated and you
win the game! Another quicker way to defeat Dethl is possible only if you have
the Boomerang. When it opens its eye, throw the Boomerang right into it for an
instant defeat!

Giant Hardhat Beetle (Boss of Color Dungeon)
--------------------------------------------

Effective Weapons/Items: S
Battle Strategies: This giant version of the Hardhat Beetle isn't too tough for
the boss of the new Color Dungeon. When you start the fight, its helmet is blue
and each time you hit it with your sword, it'll change colors. Keep hitting it
with your sword until it turns red, and then hit it again to beat it! Watch out
when it attacks, and be quick when you attack or it'll change back to the blue
color again.

get another one as a prize!

exit the cave via the stairs and go up one screen. Use the Shovel right in
front of the owl statue to get a shell.

Mermaid Statue to find another shell.

16: Near the entrance to the Key Cavern, swim in the water to the right of it

and cut it down and catch the shell as it flies out! (If you hit it from any
other side, it'll fall into the water and you can't get it there!)

17: In the Yarna Desert, get to the lower right corner of the desert on the
ledge with two rocks. Lift them up to find a secret shell.

18: After you bring the ghost to its grave, go to its house at Toronbo Shores
and lift up the pot in the corner of the room to find a shell.

Jump into the water and surface on the island and cut down the bush to uncover
a shell.

20: Near Martha's Bay, cross the wooden bridge and use the Shovel to dig near
the owl statue to find a shell.

After you get 20 Secret Seashells, go to the Seashell Mansion and you'll get
the Level 2 Sword, which is twice as powerful as your old sword! Listed below
are some extra shells you can find in case you missed one of the above shells.
If you try and find these or any other shells after you get the Level 2 Sword;
you'll just find some rupees in their place!

21: Inside the Eagle's Tower, enter the room where you fight the Hinox
(one-eyed monster) and drop down a hole in the upper-left corner of the room to
a ledge below. Open the treasure chest there to find a shell.

22: After you revive the Flying Rooster, go to the entrance of Kanalet Castle.
Go left one screen from there and fly across the huge gap to a secret passage.
Go down and open the chest to get a shell.

23: Inside the Face Shrine, get to the upper-left area of the dungeon and find
the back exit to an island in the rapids. Open the chest out there to find a
shell.

24: At the Tal Tal Mountains, get to the Chicken Coop and head a couple screens
to the right across the bridge. Lift up the rocks to find a shell.

25: When you go through the series of caves on the way to the Eagle's Tower,
enter a cave where you can bomb a wall halfway through it. Bomb it and take the
passage to a room with treasure chests and a bunch of rocks. Get through the
maze and exit the cave through the other end of that room and open the chest on
the ledge to find a shell.

-= 14. The Trading Process -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yoshi Doll: This is the first item in the trading process. You get it by
playing the Trendy Game at Mabe Village. Just direct the crane above it and
it's yours.

Ribbon: To get the Ribbon, go to the Quadruplet's House (the house west of the
Dream Shrine) and talk to the mother inside. She'll give you the Ribbon for the
Yoshi Doll.

Dog Food: After you get the Ribbon, go to Madam MeowMeow's House and go into
the small room (the right entrance). Talk to the small BowWow there and trade
with it for the Dog Food.

Bananas: Go to Toronbo Shores and head east; you'll find a building there. Go
inside and talk to the crocodile named Sale. Trade with him for the Bananas.

Stick: When you're walking around outside Kanalet Castle, you'll meet Kiki the
Monkey. Talk to it and trade the Bananas and they'll build a bridge for you.
Then, take the Stick they leave behind on the bridge.

Honeycomb: After you've beaten the Key Cavern dungeon, you'll find Tarin
standing by a tree with a honeycomb in it at Ukuku Prairie. Talk to him and
give him the Stick and he'll make the bees MAD at him. Then, the Honeycomb will
fall from the tree; take it.

Pineapple: After you get the Honeycomb, go back to the Animal Village and talk
to Chef Bear. He'll give you the Pineapple for the Honeycomb.

Hibiscus: At Tal Tal Mountains, you'll find Papahl famished along the way to
the cliff leading to Angler's Tunnel. Talk to him and give him the pineapple
for the Hibiscus.

Letter: Go back to Animal Village with the Hibiscus and talk to Miss Goat in
her house. Give her the flowers and she'll give you a Letter to deliver to Mr.
Write at the Mysterious Forest border.

Broom: When you go see Mr. Write, give him the letter. In exchange for it,
he'll reward you with a Broom. (He'll insist you take it if you say no after
you give him the letter.)

Fishing Hook: Go to Mabe Village and talk to the old lady that usually sweeps
in front of Ulrira's House. Give her the Broom and she'll give you the Fishing
Hook. (If she isn't in Mabe Village, go to Animal Village and look for her.)

Necklace: Southeast of Catfish's Maw, you'll find a wooden bridge. Jump into
the water and dive under the bridge and you'll find a fisherman on a boat
there. Talk to him and give him the hook and he'll use it to fish out a new
catch. He'll fish out the Necklace, which he'll let you keep!

Mermaid Scale: Near the Catfish's Maw, you'll find a mermaid, Martha, who's
lost her necklace. Talk to her once you get the necklace and she'll let you
take a scale from her tail in exchange for the necklace.

Magnifying Glass: To get the final item of the trading sequence, get to the
Mermaid Statue by standing south of the wooden bridge where the fisherman was
and Hookshot over the water. Then, walk; over to the statue and press A to put
in the scale and reveal steps under the statue. Go down then and walk straight
up to the next room and take the Magnifying Glass! You can use it to see things
you couldn't before, such as the enemies in that first room!

-= 16. Secrets/Tips and Tricks -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Obtaining the Boomerang
-----------------------

In order to get the Boomerang, you must first have the Magnifying Glass from
the trading sequence, and the Shovel. From where you find the Sword in the
beginning of the game on Toronbo Shores, go left one screen. Bomb the wall and
go into the cave. Assign the Shovel to the B button, and then talk to the
Goriya. He'll trade you the Boomerang for what's on the B button, which should
be the Shovel. You can always trade the Boomerang back the same way that you
obtained it, too!

The Money Saving Trick
----------------------

To save LOTS of your rupees when you go and buy some of the expensive items
like the Shovel or Bow, you must follow the following steps. You also have to
have at least the amount of rupees that item is though. First, take the item
from the shelf and go to pay for it. After you buy it and the rupees start
deducting, QUICKLY press A, B, Start, and Select simultaneously to get a chance
to save and quit. Do that, then when you come back to the game, you'll have the
item and most of the rupees!

Glitch in Zelda DX
------------------

I've found a bug in Zelda DX, which occurs whenever you get a Guardian Acorn or
a Piece of Power. When you get them and just before the text appears, press
Start. Press it again to return to the game, totally skipping the text!

Item Upgrades
-------------

In this game, you are only allowed to carry a certain amount of Magic Powder,
Bombs, and Arrows at once. You can raise your maximum capacity by visiting the
Mad Batter, which is hidden in 3 areas throughout the island. When you enter
its lair, just sprinkle Magic Powder into the lantern and it'll appear. Here,
I'll tell where each one is located:

    1. In the Mysterious Forest, go one screen north from the cave in the
forest. There, use the Power Bracelet to lift up the stone and go down the
steps to visit the Mad Batter's lair.

    2. This location is in the vicinity of the Catfish's Maw, so I'll tell you
how to get there from that dungeon. From there, swim left a screen and climb up
the ladder. Then, head south 2 screens and right one. Here, use Roc's Feather
to jump over the pit and cut down a bush you'll fall down a hole doing this,
but don't worry about it unless you don't have much health). The, use the
Pegasus Boots combined with the feather to jump over the pit to that space you
cut down, then chop down more bushes and go down the steps. Get through the
watery cave using your Flippers, then when you emerge, go left a screen and
down the steps into the Mad Batter's lair.

    3. This last location is located in the Western Tal Tal Mountains area.
Follow the path up and around until you pass the area where boulders fall from
the mountains. Then, when you're in the scene with a treasure chest and a stone
nearby, lift up that stone and go down the steps to reach the Mad Batter's
lair.

Making and Shooting Exploding Arrows
------------------------------------

When you have the Bombs and Arrows in your inventory, assign the Bombs to one
button and the Bow and Arrows to the other. Then, press both buttons
simultaneously and you'll shoot an arrow with a bomb on it! It'll explode on
impact with anything!

Stealing from the Shop
----------------------

If you want a really expensive item, but don't want to pay for it, you can
steal it from the shop. The one problem to stealing is if you ever re-enter the
shop, the shopkeeper will automatically kill you! Also, everyone in the game
will call you THIEF for the rest of the game. To steal, take the item you want,
then run all the way around the right side of the shopkeeper, and then quickly
exit the shop with the item. You should make it while the shopkeeper is still
looking the other way. I advise that you only do this trick when you're getting
the Bow because you should already have bough Bombs and the Shovel earlier in
the game and you won't need anything important from the shop after the Bow.

Wind Fish Egg Paths
-------------------

Inside the Wind Fish's Egg, you'll find a room with 4 different paths to choose
from. It's pretty much like a "Lost Woods" (Zelda 1 for NES) if you don't know
where to go. Below, I'll list 4 different paths that you could take to get past
this part of the egg. Remember that only ONE of these paths will work for your
game file, so try each path until one works for you! (Note: These are paths
that I found to work, so if none of them work for you, go to the Library and
read the book in the lower-right corner. You'll need the Magnifying Glass to do
that, though.)

Path 1: Left, Left, Up, Right, Right, Up, Left, Up

Path 2: Left, Up, Right, Up, Left, Up, Right, Up

Path 3: Right, Up, Up, Right, Up, Up, Right, Up

Path 4: Left, Left, Left, Left, Up, Up, Up, Up
