                                I. Introduction
===============================================================================

Welcome to my "Navy Seals" FAQ/Walkthrough for GameBoy.

I remember being just a kid (when original GameBoys were still around) and
playing this game. I lost track of the game for a very long time but I was able
to get hold of it recently.

"Navy Seals" is one of those lesser-known (forgotten?) games to ever grace
the GameBoy. The game is inspired by the motion picture "Navy Seals", which
starred Charlie Sheen! Back then (1990-1991) Ocean decided to bring the movie
concept to the original GameBoy.

The result is a very standard platform-action game, in which you basically
thin out a (seemingly) never-ending horde of terrorists.

I decided to assemble this FAQ/Walkthrough, because I practically know the
game by heart and because no other FAQs are present at this time.

Take care of this FAQ, as it is the first & only Navy Seals FAQ.

  Enjoy!

                                  BASIC INTEL
                                  -----------

Some things you should know before playing the game:

There are only 3 weapons in the entire game:

    - A PISTOL can hold up to 99 bullets. It takes 2 pistol bullets to kill
a soldier. Bullets can be refilled by picking up an Ammo Crate. Note that
you will always have a bullet left. After you have fired your last shot,
a bullet will regenerate. This is your basic weapon.
    - A MACHINE GUN holds up to 30 bullets. It takes one machine gun bullet to
take out a soldier. There is no way to gain additional Machine Gun
bullets. After the last bullet is fired, you will automatically switch to
your pistol. Machine guns need to be found.
    - SNIPER BACK-UP is the most powerful weapon in the game. Once you hit the
SELECT Button, a sniper will rid the screen of all enemies. You need to
collect these, though. You start a mission with the total number of
Sniper Back-ups collected. But once you lose a life, you lose all your
Sniper Back-ups. You can hold a maximum of 4 at a time and you start
every mission with at least one Sniper Back-up.

You are playing against the clock. A fuse at the bottom left of your screen
represents the time you have left. At the start of every mission, you are
given 120 seconds. You will lose a life if you cannot pick up a Time Bonus
Crate or finish the mission before the fuse is burnt up.
If you lose a life, you will restart with half of the original time.

There are different ways to lose a life:

   - Getting hit by a soldier
   - Getting shot by a soldier
   - Getting hit by a piece of ceiling
   - Running out of time
   - Dropping in water
   - Falling down on spikes
   - Falling from too high (more than one-and-a-half screens)

After losing a life, you will be invincible for about 5 seconds

There are 6 types of soldiers:

   - Soldier A: Carries knives and walks around
   - Soldier B: Carries knives, walks and can climb/drop down platforms
   - Soldier C: Carries knives and runs around
   - Soldier D: Carries knives, runs and can climb/drop down platforms
   - Soldier E: Carries knives, runs, jumps and can climb/drop down platforms
   - Soldier F: Carries a gun and walks around

It is impossible to jump and shoot at the same time

                                III. Walkthrough
===============================================================================

The game itself doesn't need a full walkthrough because you cannot get stuck
anywhere in the game, except for the final area. But since I have created a
small map for the final area, that shouldn't prove to be a problem.

Otherwise, the game is completely linear. Shoot and continue. Repeat.

I will however list the location of every item that can be collected.

  - Mission 1: The Seaport
    ----------------------

The very first platform (there's a soldier patrolling) contains a
      500 POINTS CRATE
A MACHINE GUN CRATE can be found at the end of the small bridge
There are several platforms above the small bridge. The upper-left
platform contains a SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE
A TIME BONUS CRATE can be found at the end of the second small bridge
A 250 POINTS CRATE can be found a bit past the second small bridge
Finally, at the very end of the Mission a LIFE CRATE can be collected.
It's underneath the platform, past the door.

  - Mission 2: The Terrorist Hideout
    --------------------------------

A SNIPER BACK-UP crate can be found on the very first platform,
      just above the door
At the end of the first area, don't take the highest steps. Instead drop
down to the left of the highest steps, to find another door and 2 crates.
Collect the AMMO CRATE and the LIFE CRATE
At the start of the second area, climb the platforms and pick up the
MACHINE GUN CRATE in the alcove
A bit further, jump to the first platform and retrieve a TIME BONUS CRATE
From where the Time Bonus Crate was, jump to the left to reach another
platform containing a 500 POINTS CRATE. Be careful however, because
a piece of the ceiling will come down
After picking up both of the crates, jump all the way down and proceed
left. Follow the corridor and take the LIFE CRATE
Just before taking the steps to the next area, drop down and walk past
the 2 doors. Simply collect the 500 POINTS CRATE
Jump across the spike pit to find an AMMO CRATE
Jump to the next platform and take the TIME BONUS CRATE there
In the next area, proceed all the way to the end to find an alcove with a
      MACHINE GUN CRATE
After taking the steps to a new area, jump up to the platform and collect
      the TIME BONUS CRATE
Jump past the 2 spike pits to collect an AMMO CRATE
After taking the Ammo Crate, jump down and hold left to land in a small
alcove containing a 500 POINTS CRATE, a MACHINE GUN CRATE and a SNIPER
      BACK-UP CRATE
The final area contains some platforms and spike pits. Stand to the right
of the very first platform and press and Down + A, then hold Right, to
land past some spike pits on a platform. Continue right, jump past the
spike pit and collect 2 LIFE CRATES past the steps/level exit

  - Mission 3: The Refugee Ship
    ---------------------------

At the beginning, go right past the boxes and climb up the platforms.
Continue right past the horde of soldiers to find a MACHINE GUN CRATE, a
SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE and a TIME BONUS CRATE
One deck lower (still in the first area) retrieve the 500 POINTS CRATE in
      the right corner
In the next area, jump to the high platform to pick up an AMMO CRATE
A bit further, there's a 500 POINTS CRATE guarded by a kneeled soldier
A TIME BONUS CRATE is in plain sight
At the very end of this area (bottom-right), there's a LIFE CRATE
Just before taking the steps to the next area, take the MACHINE GUN CRATE
      left of you
In this short area, there is a 500 POINTS CRATE right next to the steps
that take you to the next area
Immediately take the TIME BONUS CRATE on the platform above you, at the
      start of the next area
Stay down to collect an AMMO CRATE
Pick up a SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE at the very end of the area
Retrieve the TIME BONUS CRATE in plain sight
There's a MACHINE GUN CRATE to be found, just before you get back on the
      main deck (outside)
Head all the way left to collect this mission's last item: a LIFE CRATE

  - Mission 4: The Informant
    ------------------------

There's a MACHINE GUN CRATE all the way to the right
After dropping down, go right to collect a 500 POINTS CRATE
At the very end of the second area, past the steps, pick up a TIME BONUS
      CRATE and an AMMO CRATE
After some climbing, retrieve a MACHINE GUN CRATE to your right
Don't be tempted to take the hidden steps yet and go left to pick up a
      500 POINTS CRATE
Take the first steps and collect the LIFE CRATE
Jump up and retrieve the TIME BONUS CRATE
At the end (above ground) jump up 2 platforms to pick up a MACHINE GUN
      CRATE
     - Take the left-most steps to find a LIFE CRATE
      - Take the right-most steps to find a SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE
Take the TIME BONUS CRATE to your right
There's an AMMO CRATE at the end of this area
After climbing up, take the 500 POINTS CRATE to your left

  - Mission 5: The Headquarters
    ---------------------------

There's a MACHINE GUN CRATE in the upper-right corner of the first area
A TIME BONUS CRATE can be found at the start of the second area in the
      upper-left corner
At the very end of the second area, pick up the AMMO CRATE
Jump across the 2 first platforms to find a TIME BONUS CRATE
There's a MACHINE GUN CRATE in the left corner (all the way down)
A 500 POINTS CRATE can be found to your right
Take the steps on your bottom left to find a TIME BONUS CRATE, a SNIPER
BACK-UP CRATE, a 500 POINTS CRATE and a LIFE CRATE
Take the other steps and continue to find a SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE
Take the last steps in this area to reach a room with a TIME BONUS CRATE,
an AMMO CRATE, a 500 POINTS CRATE, a SNIPER BACK-UP CRATE (x2) and a LIFE
      CRATE
After the backtrack to the previous steps, go left and take the TIME
      BONUS CRATE
Go all the way left and pick up an AMMO CRATE in the upper-left corner,
then take the steps to your right
There's a MACHINE GUN CRATE here in the bottom-right corner
To exit the area, jump down the platform in the left area, right next to
the spikes. You will fall down and reach the door
Small Map to clarify the exit to this area:

X - Exit to next area
E - Entrance to this area
      A - Door warp A
      L - Left area
      R - right area

===============================================================================

A short FAQ/Walkthrough but I hope it will help people find the power-ups
they need to finish the game. As for the difficulty of the game: I can't help
you there! But having a definite location on those important Life Crates and
Sniper Back-up Crates should make the game a lot easier.

As always, should you have any questions, comments, remarks or if you have
noticed a mistake (whatsoever), you can always contact me here:

I just demand one thing: BE POLITE! Don't start insulting, threatening, name
calling or anything else. If you want my help, just be polite.

Finally, don't even think about posting this FAQ anywhere without my written
permission! GameFAQs is the sole bearer of this FAQ.
