1. Introduction
_____________________________________________________________________________

For those of you who wandered here by accident and are wondering what Monstania is, it is a
recently translated very fun game for the SNES with a unique battle system that you will have to
see for yourself because it is hard to explain. Monstania may be easy in some places, but this
FAQ/Walkthrough will help you through the difficult times when you get stuck, as you may at
some point or another. I hope everyone enjoys using this FAQ and send me information about
the game that you know and is not in here. If you want to know where you can get this game,
email me and ask me, because it is somewhat rare among the types of sites that offer it. If you
are looking for the translation, you can find it at http://agtp.romhack.net.

Thanks to:

Nathan Deren (nder3318@postoffice.uri.edu) - For pointing out that you fight different battles if
you "support Tania" instead of "support Tia." And for heading the team that translated the
game, of course that is more noteworthy.

4. Character Descriptions
_____________________________________________________________________________

These are a short bio of each character along with my opinion on them.

Fron
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: 16-year-old who is searching for a mysterious fairy that he saw. Boyfriend of Tia
and the usual adventurous type.

Lich85's Opinion: Fron is your basic RPG hero and all-around fighter. Most of his early skills
that he learns are weak. His only useful ones are Jump Slash, Dash Attack, and Kamaitachi.
Even then, most of those skills are not powerful to kill enemies with one hit until a little past the
halfway point, which is the best part of the skills in the first place. He can take more damage
than most anyone, even though he does not look like he can, so put him in the front and if the
enemy is targeting anyone, it should be him.

Tia
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: 16-year-old who travels with her boyfriend Fron searching for the fairy. A little
more cautious then Fron but still the adventurous type.

Lich85's Opinion: I seriously underrated Tia at first. I looked at how weak she was and
instantly wrote her off. However, her strength comes from her Bow and being able to hit enemies
from far away. Since enemies like to walk around randomly, you can sit there and hit them all
day, eventually killing them. Also, her ability to soften up monsters with her Bow before Fron
takes them out can be a clincher at times. Her Song skill is also great for softening up many
monsters at a time, and Treat and Help will be very valuable helpers to Fron during the course of
the game.

Chitta
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: Little girl who you meet and later find out is the fairy that you have been chasing.
Thought to be very young and can be cryptic at times.

Lich85's Opinion: Chitta is weak and almost useless except for her Blaze spell, which sometimes
works very effectively, and sometimes not at all. Obviously Chitta is the prime candidate to
receive the Ribbon because of her spells, and she needs all the firepower she can get. Near the
end of the game though, Chitta can cast Blaze three times before having to recover AP, and by
then it is a very effective spell. So basically use Chitta to hit many people at once, possibly
killing them if you can do it twice, or let Fron finish them off.

Morin
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: 255-year-old elf who you meet in the Forest of Confusion. He is a harpist who
offers to lead you out since you are lost.

Lich85's Opinion: Morin's regular harp attack packs little punch. It is his skills that are worth
looking at. His Attack Song is about as effective as Tia's Sing (even though it costs about twice
as much in AP) and his Relax Song recovers more AP than any other skill. His Heal Song is like a
dual Recover, which is very handy. Still, in my opinion those qualities do not redeem him and
Morin is a blot to all adventurers everywhere.

Mikey
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: The stereotypical 12-year-old kid with an attitude. Lives in the Ruins and offers to
lead you out since you are lost.

Lich85's Opinion: Mikey has a high luck and a high agility, which basically means that he will
almost always connect and it will be a critical hit. Add that to an Attack rating almost as high as
Fron's and a decent defense and you have yourself a very solid fighter. But wait! He can also
range attack like Tia! It may only be three spaces but you take what you can get. If I could, I
would probably use this guy as my main character instead of Fron, because he is the best of both
worlds (or Fron and Tia's best qualities combined).

Marina
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: An 18-year-old girl who supposedly is attractive but later turns into a witch
(figuratively speaking). Works at a restaurant in Maberia.

Lich85's Opinion: She is a cleaning lady for a restaurant, what did you expect? She usually gets
killed in one or maybe two hits if she is lucky. She does almost no damage and her skills are all
useless except for Help and Treat. Just put her in the back, hope she stays alive, and be thankful
that you only have to use her once.

Marx
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: 30-year-old brother of Tania who is a traveler. Very big blonde guy. Carries a
hammer around and is not afraid to use it.

Lich85's Opinion: This guy is awesome. He does much more damage than Fron, and although he
misses more often than not, when he connects the Sandworm feels it! His defense is only
average, but his HP is very high, so you do not have to use Recover much because it gains back
so much HP. And speaking of skills, every time he does a normal attack he gains back one AP
just like if he was waiting! Overall, if Marx just had better agility he could be by far the best
character in the entire game. Unfortunately, he must remain in the three-way tie with Fron and
Mikey.

Tia's Grandfather
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: Senile but brilliant old man. Invents many useful contraptions thought to be
harnessed by the spirits, but obviously are not.

Lich85's Opinion: A senile strange old man. Hit him in the Laboratory when you have the
chance, you will not regret it, and watch as he takes damage as not even Black Curtain could!

Tania
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: Twenty-something-year-old brother of Marx. Girlfriend of Barambat. Fights for
the cause that she believes in.

Lich85's Opinion: She is weak. Even though she is a sidekick, her close range attack is pathetic,
and her Thunder spell takes a turn to charge up so you can run circles around her forever. If she
could not summon Poison Ghosts the second time around, someone would have to complain on
how easy it is to defeat her. Anyway, just have fun beating her up.

Barambat
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Description: Boyfriend of Tania. Age is unknown. Fights for the cause that he believes in which
is not revealed until the end of the game.

Lich85's Opinion: For how cool this guy looks, his simple slash attack is a big let down. Since
he is slow and has no special attacks, you can have a field day with this guy. I would not even
want to fight as this person because he is so pathetic. The only reason I would want to is
because of how cool he looks, but that would get old very quick. Once again, just have fun
beating this guy up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 1
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: 1 Kobold, 1 Kobold
Items: Cure-All Received Afterward

Stand in front of Tia and hit the Kobold when he comes to you. Very simple. He will usually hit
for about 10HP damage so be ready to use Recover when needed. If Fron does not have enough
AP and needs to use Recover, run away from the Kobold until he is far away enough for you to
hit the "y" button enough times to get enough AP back to use Recover and still not be attacked.
This is a basic strategy that you will be using multiple times throughout this game. Defeat the
second Kobold in the same way as the first.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Road
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 2
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 10 Slimes
Items: No Items Received

Use Tia's "Sing" skill right away and then retreat backwards with Fron (with Tia joined up of
course) until Tia gets enough AP to use "Sing" twice more. After this just let the Slimes come to
you and you can almost always kill them all in one hit. Add this to the fact that you can move
twice for every one of their movements and you have an even easier battle than the first one,
because you will probably never get hit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 3
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Giant Slime
Items: Cure-All Received Afterward

This battle is even simpler and easier than the first two (if that is even possible). Just select Tia
and then shoot the Giant Slime with your Bow while he runs around randomly and you stay a
safe enough distance away not to get hit. Once again you get two movements for his every one
and so you should have no excuse if you actually get hit at least once in this battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 4
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 4 Tiles Puzzle, 3 Kobolds Then Infinity
Items: 2 Cure-Alls In The Area, 3 Wonder Leaves Received Afterward

The first thing you should do is get the two Cure-Alls in the right and upper left corners, then
put Fron on the upper right tile and Tia on the lower left tile. After a short dialogue, put Tia in
front of the doorway, then three Kobolds will appear. More Kobolds will start vomiting from
the trees as the battle ensues. Situate yourself on the square between Tia and the Kobolds, and if
everything goes well they will only attack from that direction and you will get to fight one at a
time. Use basic battle tactics here, kill the Kobold and Recover when necessary. The Kobolds
are weaker this time around because of your higher level.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sealed Cave
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 5
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 2 Bats, 2 Bats And 1 Goblin, 2 Bats And 1 Goblin
Items: Wooden Shield And Cure-All Received Afterward

This is a set of three battles against basically the same opponents. In the first one allow each Bat
to come to you and then kill each easily. Afterwards, use Recover until you are at Max HP and
then use the "y" button until you are at Max AP. Use this again after the second part. In the
second and third parts, for each step you take, notice what moves, and if only one or two of the
enemies move, then let them come to you and kill them before you take on the second and third
or only third enemies. By using that divide and conquer strategy, this battle should be a walk in
the park. The only things that are unusual is that a Bat can move two spaces for each of your
one, and the Goblin can only move one for each of your two, but can knock you back a space
when he hits you unless something is behind you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 6
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 2 Mummies, 3 Mummies
Items: No Items Received

Yet another battle that should not be too difficult. After tripping the first switch, move down
one space to the Mummy and then try to kill it with Fron before the Mummy behind you gets
within two spaces of Tia where it can hit her. After killing the first Mummy, move away from
the second and kill it with Tia's Arrows, laughing as it pathetically tries to catch you. Mummies
are slow and move only one space for your every two. The next part is a little more complicated
because you might actually get hit but should still be a breeze. Wait for the Mummy below Fron
to pop out, kill it, then run up and kill the other one below Fron. After that either use Tia to
shoot at the Mummy above and then walk to the exit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 7
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 4 Tiles Puzzle, 3 Mummies, 1 Mummy
Items: Iron Arrows, Defend Ring, And Cure-All Received Afterward

And now for the grand finale of this dungeon, which features a puzzle of the simplest nature if
you know what "Check" does. Have Fron go up to each stone lying around, use "Check" to pick
it up, and then walk up to a tile and use "Put" to place it onto a tile. Three Mummies will pop
out after two stones are placed. Kill them by sniping or walk up to them and slash them with
Fron if you are getting bored with the covert tactics, either way it is easy. After the third stone
is placed the last enemy and final horrific creature of the dungeon is revealed: a single stupid
Mummy. Kill him if you feel like it, place the last stone on the last tile, and watch the dialogue.
On another note, you can actually pick up all the stones and place them on the tiles without you
or the Mummies ever hitting each other, so that is a quickie way to win this battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shinar: House
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 8
Controlling: Fron And Tia (And Chitta)
Enemies: 2 Earth Spirits (And Tania)
Items: None

Now if you have just been slacking your way with strategies so far, get ready to die, and quickly.
If you have been working on strategies, good for you, but this will still be one of the most
difficult fights and the hardest so far. The first thing to do is Tia should snipe as much as she can
at the Earth Spirits before they corner you and force Fron to confront them both. Try to use
Chitta as a decoy, because he/she/it does not have to be conscious to win this battle, and if you
can kill an Earth Spirit by going 1on1 while another is knocking the little kid senseless, ignore
your conscience and go for it. Try to stay away from Tania because she will knock you for
around 12HP damage if you get on a space next to her. If you are forced into a 2on1 situation,
you can still win, just keep targeting one, using Recover and Help/Treat when necessary, and
running away to build up more AP if needed. After killing both of the Earth Spirits the battle
ends. And before I forget, both the Earth Spirits move at one space for your every two, the only
advantage you have.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here the path splits into two parts. If you decided to "Support Tia," then your next two battles
will be in the Forest and you should keep reading. However, if you decided to "Support Tania,"
then your next two battles will be in the Cave and you should skip down there to the next set of
Battles 9-10. I personally prefer the Cave, but that is only because the Battle 9 for the Cave is
much less difficult than the Battle 9 for the Forest. Both the Condor's Eye and Pendant are
pretty useless so do not make a decision based on those two items.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 9
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 6 Big Rats
Items: 2 Wonder Leaves And 2 Magic Berries Received Afterward

This can also be a difficult battle. But there is a surefire way not to lose (unless you mess up
very badly). At the start of the battle, take control of Chitta and move her into the corner by the
tree, or two spaces right and one space back. Fron will be in front of her and Chitta is now
invincible because there is no way to attack her. From here, attack with Fron and use the Blaze
or Shine Arrow skills with Chitta when needed. If Fron dies just blast the remaining Big Rats
with Thunder and then bring him back with a Magic Berry. Either way, there will be a single Big
Rat hiding in the upper left that you should be sure to kill. Big Rats can also move two spaces
for your every one.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 10
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 1 Giant Spider And 2 Spiders
Items: Condor Eye, Long Sword, And Cure-All Received Afterward

Another pathetic boss. You can do this battle two ways: the first way is with Chitta and Blaze,
and the second way is completely with Fron. In the first way, walk right up to the Giant Spider
until you are two spaces away from it, then use Blaze. This should knock it for 35HP damage
three times, or 105HP damage. Very nice. Next, get Chitta out of there and then kill the two
small spiders with Fron while they walk around randomly, making sure to keep Chitta a safe
distance away. After that, get Chitta's AP back up to 20, do the Blaze one space away from the
Giant Spider again, and he goes boom. The other way is started the same way: walk up to the
Giant Spider and hit it with Blaze, but then let Chitta die. Now, with Fron, walk around and kill
the spiders with your newfound speed because Chitta died. They should not be able to catch
you and you can build up your AP easily because of your speed and their randomness. After
you kill the two Spiders use skills on the Giant Spider.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cave
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 9
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 3 Bats, 2 Bats And 1 Spider, 1 Bat And 1 Spider
Items: 2 Wonder Leaves And 2 Magic Berries Received Afterward

This battle is much easier than the one you would have been forced to do in the Forest. Just
walk up to the Bats with Fron and kill them with one hit. Chitta's Blaze will only make the
battle even quicker. The Spiders may take three or so hits, but they come with only one or two
bats so it is really a joke. Just dispatch them in any way that you see fit and keep Chitta out of
harm's way. Use the narrow passages to help Fron take the enemies 1on1. If you use basic
strategies, this battle will be over quickly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 10
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 1 Giant Spider And 2 Spiders
Items: Pendant, Long Sword, And Cure-All Received Afterward

Now both paths converge with you making another decision as to which path to take.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here the path splits into two parts. If you chose to go into the Forest Of Confusion, continue
reading, but if you decided to bypass it and head towards the Ancient Ruins, then go to the next
set of Battles 11-13. I personally would go to the Ancient Ruins for three reasons. 1. Mikey is
much better than Morin. 2. The boss of the Ancient Ruins is much easier than the boss of the
Forest Of Confusion. 3. You can get more items than in the Forest Of Confusion, and the
Ribbon is only available in the Ancient Ruins, you cannot get it in the Forest Of Confusion.
However, you can only get the Life Ring in the Forest of Confusion, and that item is much more
helpful to Fron than the Ribbon is to Chitta, so think over both decisions carefully.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest Of Confusion
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 11
Controlling: Fron And Morin
Enemies: 14 Big Rats With 8 Starting
Items: Magic Berry, Life Ring, Leather Armor, And Very Weird Stick Received Afterward

They tried to make the enemy intelligence smarter for this one, but ended up messing up badly.
The Big Rats will now wait for you to come to them and get the first hit instead of coming to you
and letting you get the first hit. So they will just sit there and wait for you to come to them, two
spaces away. You have probably figured out how to kill them by now. Either use Fron's Sonic
Boom to lay waste to them as they are immobile, or use Morin's Attack Song a few times so that
one Sonic Boom will dispatch each. Either way, range attacks are the trump for this battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 12
Controlling: Tia And Chitta
Enemies: ? Slimes
Items: ? Wonder Leaves

Just walk around to the various grass clumps and "Check" them with Tia. I think the items may
be placed randomly but I am not sure. Some clumps contain Slimes, some contain Wonder
Leaves, and one contains Chitta's treasure. A slime starts out from the right in this battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 13
Controlling: Fron And Morin
Enemies: 1 Green Eater And Almost Always 3 Tentacles
Items: Silver Arrows, Cure-All, Long Bow, And Fairy Ring Received Afterward

Another weak bo. . . wait a second. This one is actually tough! It is mainly tough because the
three tentacles are more than a match for you individually, and they just love to gang up on you.
Add that to the fact that the Green Eater has a four space range attack and you have got yourself
a tough battle indeed. Now this is the way I beat him, but I would not necessarily recommend it.
First use Morin's Attack Song until you are bored, recovering AP as much as you want because
they are blocked off from him, and make sure he is in the upper left area where the grass clumps
form a sort of triangle with a space in between. Next, take Fron all the way over to the right and
jump over a grass clump. Now get five spaces below the Green Eater. Use Dash Attack here,
then Morin's Relax Song until Fron recovers enough AP to Dash Attack again. If you need to
wait, do so, and hope the tentacles do not come over to Fron and are distracted by Morin.
Repeat until the Green Eater dies. If Fron dies, use Morin's Attack Song to bring the tentacles
back over, recover his AP all the way, use a Magic Berry on Fron, and continue Dash Attacking.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ancient Ruins
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 11
Controlling: Fron And Mikey
Enemies: 3 Goblins, 2 Goblins, 2 Goblins, 2 Goblins
Items: Magic Berry Received Beforehand; Ribbon, Leather Armor, Very Weird, And Cure-All
Received Afterward

Yes, those are the same Goblins from the Sealed Cave. Since Fron is now more powerful and you
have Mikey throwing a Boomerang at almost the same Attack rating as Fron with a high critical
hit rate, you can just delegate Mikey to one opening and Fron to the other. As a Goblin comes
out, kill it, then switch to the other person to kill theirs. You should be able to win this battle
very easily because the Goblins are much weaker than Fron or Mikey.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 12
Controlling: Tia And Chitta
Enemies: 1 Giant Bear
Items: Cure-All And 2 Magic Berries Received Afterward

This is a very annoying battle and shows just how poor the enemy intelligence is. You have to
lure the Giant Bear into falling into a hole. This is done by getting him to walk onto the two
spaces directly below where Fron fell in. First, send either Tia or Chitta to the bottom to walk
around and try to get the Giant Bear to go right. Next lure him up, then left and down a little,
then left some more and hopefully onto where he should fall in. However, since the Giant Bear
instead seems to prefer walking around in circles than chasing you, this is easier said than done.
So just walk around in front of it until it starts heading in the right direction, then back off a little
and continue trying to trick it into falling into the hole.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 13
Controlling: Fron And Mikey
Enemies: 1 Giant Bear And 3 Goblins With 0 Starting
Items: 2 Wonder Leaves, Silver Arrows, Long Bow, And Fairy Ring Received Afterward

The first thing you should know is that if you went into the Forest Of Confusion, you would
have fought a boss ten times as hard as this one, so pat yourself on the back for your
discernment/luck. The first thing you should is Pair Up, and be sure to control Mikey. Now get
just to the left of the two blocks that have one space between them and are lined up vertically
along the central upper side (maybe a little to the left). Now wait for the three Goblins to
appear, and destroy them easily with Mikey's Boomerang. Now turn to the right and hopefully
the bear will be walking around in circles. I have gotten this to work every time I have played
this game. Just stand one space to the left of the space between the two blocks and throw the
Boomerang at the Giant Bear on the other side walking around in circles. Fron can stand one
space to the left of Mikey or wherever you feel like putting him. If the Giant Bear suddenly has
a burst of inspiration and tries to attack you, just go to the other side and repeat.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now both paths converge at Maberia with Battle 14.

Maberia: Restaurant

Battle 14
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: Tiles Puzzle
Items: No Items Received

Of the three puzzles where you sweep the tiles, this one is in the middle of difficulty. There will
probably be more than one way to solve these puzzles, but here is the one I used for this puzzle:
left, left, left, down, down, down, right, up, right, up, right, down, right, up, up, right, right, right,
down, left, down, right, down, down, down, down, down, left, up, up, up, left, up, left, left,
down, left, left, left, down, down, down, right, right, up, left, up, right, right, down, right, down,
right, up, up, left, and up.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 15
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: Tiles Puzzle
Items: No Items Received

This one is by far the easiest to solve out of the three. Once again here is the solution that I used:
left, left, left, down, down, down, right, down, left, down, right, down, down, right, right, up, up,
left, up, right, right, right, down, down, right, down, right, up, up,, left, up, right, up, left, up,
right, up, up, left, left, down, down, down, left, left, left, up, right, up, left, and left.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 16
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: Tiles Puzzle
Items: No Items Received

This one is the toughest out of three because the solution requires you to use different strategies
than the first two. However, I was still able to solve it on my first try for some strange reason.
Here is the solution that I used: right, down, right, up, right, right, down, down, down, down,
down, down, down, left, left, left, up, right, up, right, up, up, left, down, left, down, left, down,
left, down, left, left, up, up, up, up, up, up, up,, right, right, down, down, left, down, down,
right, up, right, up, and right.

Maberia: Graveyard Mountain
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 17
Controlling: Fron And Marina
Enemies: 6 Poison Bats With 2 Staring And 4 Super Goblins With 2 Starting
Items: Cure-All And 2 Wonder Leaves Received Afterward

This is a rather nasty fight, if you do not use Marina much. Start out with Fron in the lower
right corner with Marina behind him. All throughout the fight try to use Marina's Help as much
as possible, because then you can get Fron's AP into the constant 30-40s range where he can use
Recover and Jump Slashes as much as he wants. Use Help and Recover during any break in the
fighting. Then let the Poison Bats (which go two spaces for your every one) come to you and
kill them with Jump Slash or normal slashes followed by Recover. Either way, after the first
short skirmish have Marina keep using Help on Fron until the next arrival of Poison Bats come.
Kill those, then prepare for the Super Goblins (which go one space for your every two) to arrive
by using Help on Fron more. After the first Super Goblin arrives and you go 1on1 with it, two
Poison Bats will appear and be very annoying. So try to take out the Super Goblins quickly (the
second set will stay in the middle of the Highlands) and then smack up the Poison Bats. After
this there is just the trivial matter of destroying the last two Super Goblins at leisure, then move
Fron and Marina up to the end of the route. For this battle and the next one I think you only
have to get both characters to the end of the route and not actually have to defeat all the enemies.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 18
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 4 Poison Bats With 2 Staring And 4 Super Goblins
Items: 2 Magic Berries Received Afterward

They take away Marina and give you an improved Chitta and to compensate for this on the
enemy side they make you fight. . . less? I guess I should not complain but sometimes I wonder
about the people who designed the battles. This is a joke battle. Take Chitta and use Shine
Arrow to kill the two Poison Bats when they are in a row. Next use Blaze on the Super Goblins,
and if Chitta starts hurting, pull Fron up from below to help out, since he should be fresh and
pulling him up allows Chitta to recover AP, but make sure that Chitta does not get hit while Fron
travels up. After dispatching these, walk over to the end to face the last resistance: two Poison
Bats. Blaze them, laugh at them and slash them, whatever, just kill them and finish the battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 19
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Barambat And Tania
Items: No Items Received

For those who fought Green Eater this is a welcome break. For those who fought the Bear, well
you have another extremely weak boss battle to fight. Just move Fron to the right and up
towards Tania and get next to her. Start slashing her. You will do around ten times the damage
she does to you, and Barambat (who moves at one space for your every two) will walk around
randomly seemingly heedless of your presence. This is one of those battles you can fight with
your eyes closed and still pull off a considerable margin of victory. I do not know if you can beat
Barambat, because the battle will stop after you defeat Tania.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 20
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 3 Ghosts And 5 Zombies
No Items Received

First off, make sure Tia has the Silver Arrows and Long Bow. Now she should be able to kill the
Ghosts (who attack randomly) with one hit and the Zombies (who move one space for your
every two) with two hits. This makes the battle much easier. Now just walk around shooting
and killing stuff while using Recover when needed. Unless you get surrounded, you should do
just fine.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maritime: Boat
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 21
Controlling: Fron And Tia (And 2 Sailors And 1 Captain)
Enemies: 6 Pirates Then Infinity
Items: No Items Received

Just to let you know, those two Sailors are going to die very quickly. As far as I know though,
the Captain cannot die and will keep pounding away for much damage at the Pirates. Not that
you need him anyway, just sit there and kill the Pirates, shoot them with Tia if they are too far
away or slash them with a skill maybe here and there with Fron until the Captain announces that
you are surrendering. It would be impossible to win anyway the way they pour out of their
cabin, so just play the survival game. It is, however, possible to fight your way onto their deck,
which raises the question of why not going over there, dropping the plank, and sailing away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maritime: Pirates' Boat
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 22
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 4 Pirates
Items: Leather Armor, Power Ring, Magic Arrows, Broad Sword, And Leather Shield Found In
A Pile Of Equipment Afterwards

If play a lot of games, or even the average amount, you will be familiar with this scenario: get by
the guards without being seen. Here is how to do it: first select Fron and go up, up, right, up, up,
up, left, left, left, up, up, up, left, left, left, left, left, left, up, wait, up, right, right, up, up, up,
and left. You should now be finished with Fron so switch over to Tia. With her go up, up, up,
right, up, up, up, left, left, left, up, up, wait until the guard on the right gets to the space up and
to the left of you (wait 6 or 7 times), up, left, left, left, left, left, wait, up, wait, up, right, right,
up, up, up, and left to finish the level.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maritime: Raft
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 23
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Kraken Tentacles (And Kraken)
Items: No Items Received

There is seriously something wrong with the boss battles in this game. This is, once again, a
sadistically easy boss battle. The Kraken Tentacles will wander around, eventually coming up to
you if you are on the edge, and then get hit by you, and for some stupid reason instead of
attacking they duck under the water, only to come back and get smacked again. Repeat. The
only thing that makes this from being an outright joke is that Tia's arrows get stopped by the
driftwood and 2 Kraken Tentacles will appear from under the raft, one in the upper left and
another in the right. However, if you shoot the Tentacles until one pops up from under the raft
and quickly Jump Slash it with Fron who is waiting there hopefully, that should be no problem
at all. Shoot with Tia from the middle of the raft, slash with Fron, it makes no difference, either
way the cowardly Tentacles have no chance. You do not have to kill the Kraken, just his
Tentacles.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pascal Island: Laboratory
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 24
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Bucket Robots
Items: No Items Received

Finally, a decent battle. The main strategy to use here is shoot a robot with Tia so that it starts
moving and comes to you, then kill it with Fron's Jump Slashes or keep sniping with Tia. Either
way, as long as you take it slowly and make them come to you in groups of ones and twos, you
should have no problem at all. Just make sure you are not caught off guard by their ability to
knock you back a space. On an interesting note, you can attack Tia's Grandfather with Fron's
slashes or shooting with Tia, but the battle ends once you get Tia on a space next to her
Grandfather. And no, you cannot kill the Grandfather (or he has a miraculous amount of HP).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pascal Island: Beach
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 25
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Sea Bugs
Items: No Items Received

This right here is the toughest battle in the entire game and a dead end for many people. I had to
try several times before someone told me what Sing did which made this battle easier, but still a
challenge nonetheless. What many people forget to do is equip the great stuff you get after
escaping from the Pirate Ship, so be absolutely sure to do that. If you have not already, I would
recommend equipping Fron with the Life Ring and Tia with the Fairy Ring. You cannot kill the
Sea Bugs, hitting them only makes them flip over. So here is a detailed way of stopping the Sea
Bugs. First use Tia's Sing and move Fron three spaces from the left border and down the beach
until Tia's AP goes back to its max. Next use Tia's Sing again and switch to Fron to see when
the Sea Bugs flip back over. When they do, use Tia's Sing for the last time you are allowed.
Now begins the real battle, and be thankful for your great headstart. The keys to victory here
will be Fron's Kamaitachi and Tia's Confuse and Aim. Fron should be in front of about four Sea
Bugs. Use Kamaitachi to keep them on their backs. Use Tia's Confuse when the three Sea Bugs
in front of her are lined up in a row, targeting the middle one. A Sea Bug will sneak up on the far
right, but after using Confuse, Tia's Aim will stop it in its tracks. Repeat this until it says you
are finished. If you want to move back, you should instead let a Sea Bug bump you back, saving
you time. You may need to use a Cure-All or Wonder Leaf on Fron because Kamaitachi is
expensive. Overall, if you know what you are doing, this might be a small challenge, but if you
expect to just roll over this battle without some strategy, you are in for a surprise.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Desert
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 26
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: 6 Quicksand Bugs
Items: Power Ring And 2 Cure Cactus Received Afterward

This is another fight where you fight an enemy one at a time and can wait as long as you want
between fights to get your AP back up to max. You walk down the narrow passageway,
encountering sometimes Quicksand Bugs along the way. There is one in the middle at the
beginning, then left, and then right, and there is one at the right at the end, but besides that I
cannot remember exactly where the other two were. I believe one may be at the mid-left area near
the central-lower area. Kill them if you meet one with a slash and a Jump Slash. Then Recover
between clashes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 27
Controlling: Fron And Marx
Enemies: 6 Sandworm Parts (And A Sandworm Head)
Items: 2 Rage Cacti And 2 Defense Cacti Received Afterward

Marx flat out rocks. It is such a shame you can only use him for this battle. First off, his Attack
is over 100, so just walk right up to the Sandworm and hit it with Fron behind you so you do not
get pushed back. His Defense may be a little lacking, but since he recovers an AP for every time
he attacks and not just waits (I am not lying)(Actually the "AP recover with an attack" seems to
be a trick that works only under circumstances I am not sure of), you will have more than enough
to use Recover as much as you want, and he recovers quite a lot of HP because of his high max.
Overall it is yet another easy boss fight, and even easier if you are situated so as not to be
knocked back.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tower Of The Desert
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 28
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Infinity Water Gels (And Undina)
Items: No Items Received

The first thing I should say is that you cannot damage Undina as far as I know so do not even
try. After killing quite a lot of Water Gels (and maybe walking over to the impeding statue)
Marx will come and remove the statue, allowing you to continue on. But before you do that, you
will have to survive the attacks of the Water Gels (who move at one space for your every two).
Tia's Magic Arrows' ability to go through enemies and hit everyone in a row will be extremely
useful here. I have hit the maximum five in a row during this battle. Just do not get surrounded
and you will be fine. If you do, use Fron to Jump Slash and kill one, then escape quickly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 29
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Switches Puzzle
Items: No Items Received

The switch you are looking for is the one that is different colored and in the lower left. Now
head over to the stairs in the upper left without touching the most upper left switch, which
reverts the stairs back to its inaccessible form. Very simple huh?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 30
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Snakes
Items: No Items Received

The Snakes move one space for your every two. They can be killed in two hits by Fron. You
should be able to just let them come to you, hit them twice, then kill the next one as they keep
coming. They seem to lack the intelligence to surround you, but if they do, it should not be that
much of a problem because of stuff like Whirl Slash and Tia's Treat and Help. There is no real
strategy to this battle, just kill them and move on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 31
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Tania And Almost Always 5 Poison Ghosts
Items: Cure-All And Chain Armor Received Afterward

The first time I did this I let Fron die and beat Tania with Tia. The second and easier time I let
Tia die and killed Tania with Fron. Either way one person makes this fight much easier. Start off
by having Tia use Magic Sword on Fron, then have Fron move down one, wait, then move to the
right of Tania. Slash her, get knocked backwards, and then use Dash Attack (or Jump Slash if she
missed). She will get knocked over, come back up, and then have a Thunder skill at her disposal.
The first time it will hit automatically, but from then on it will require a turn to charge up and
will hit wherever you were when she was charging up. Now use Dash Attack again and then
Recover. Now walk up to her, slash her once or twice, and it will all be over. Note that the
Poison Ghosts sap away your AP, so be prepared for that, it is really nasty. Another way to do
this is to walk up to her, Jump Slash, and if she fails to knock you back slash her, then repeat
when she revives.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 32
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 1 Power Bear
Items: 2 Wonder Leaves And 2 Magic Berries Received Afterward

This bear is packed. But like all Bears, he cannot move through an area only one space wide.
Use some spells or whatever you want on him, then retreat to an area surrounded by a few trees
and two stones in the lower central area. The Power Bear cannot come into this area and will
simply roam around outside. After charging up and healing up inside the sanctuary, come back
out, hit him with skills, and then retreat again. A somewhat difficult fight if you do not know
about the safe area, another easy boss fight (I sound like a broken record) if you know about the
safe area. Speaking of the safe area, the tree on the right there can be walked right through. Just a
small bug that was failed to be found by the testers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Snowt
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 33
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: 17 Snow Spirits with 8 Starting
Items: No Items Received

This could be a real nasty battle if you forget to equip Fron with the Chain Armor or waste it on
Tia. Otherwise, just follow some basic strategies and you will be fine. First, move Fron to the
far right side where two Snow Spirits already are while staying out of their rows thereby dodging
their Freeze and Punch attacks. Once over there, get in a corner and be ready to face one or two
Snow Spirits at a time. Fron may need to Recover often since they may seem to swarm, but
actually only a maximum of four will stay and the others will hop back to the upper part of the
battle. You will be able to recover AP once you defeat the Snow Spirits and more are on their
way. After a while, if no Snow Spirits appear to be coming, check your Sub-Screen Map. If the
only two Snow Spirits left are in the upper right corner, then start making a mad dash for the
pathway to the house in the central area of the battle. Stand next to the main road so that now
only one Snow Spirit can attack Fron at a time. If Fron stood on the far right as was advised,
then as soon as you are two steps away two Snow Spirits will appear which were blocked by
Fron earlier and others will start appearing as well, but they should be no problem if Fron made it
to the walkway to the house. If Fron does not make it, use whatever tactics you have developed
up to this point.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diamond Mountain: Entrance to Sealed Cave
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 34
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Knights
Items: No Items Received

First move Fron and Tia into the lower left area. Now wait for the Knights to come. You can kill
half of them right away by using Jump Slashes, then deal with the other four by slashing with
Fron and Tia using Treat. If one starts to attack Tia, try to save her, because at that point you
can roam around the battle to recover AP since at this period in the game the enemies are still
walking somewhat randomly. After killing them or escaping and roaming if Tia gets attacked
(where you can easily deal with the one or two remaining Knights), you win the battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sealed Cave
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 35
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Snake Varieties (And 1 Big Rock)
Items: No Items Received

The first thing you should do is use Separate and put Tia into the back space of the hole in the
eastern wall. Now walk down to the end with Fron until a Big Rock and the Snakes appear.
These Snakes are composed of Super Snakes that can kill you in a few hits and the ones from the
Tower of the Desert which will do very little damage to you. Just start running back down to
Tia. If they start to attack Tia, just switch over to her and use Recover, then switch back and
keep running. Or, if they try to block Fron, use Kamaitachi, as that will usually take out five or
six of them. In the last instance, if they just walk around randomly, ignore them and let the Big
Rock kill them with one hit. Afterwards, just walk to the end of the route and win the battle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 36
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Fire Spirits
Items: No Items Received

This is a somewhat difficult battle depending on how you deal with it. First off, use Tia's Sing
three times to weaken all of the Fire Spirits. Now either go to them or let them come to you,
because there are about five that are not on an island in the lava. Try to kill them up close,
because otherwise they will hit both of you with their Fire Breath, and that can hurt Tia a lot.
Use Treat with Tia on Fron and have Fron use whatever works best for him, skills or whatever.
The three Snakes on the islands can be killed with Fron's Sonic Boom or Tia's Bow and skills. I
would recommend that you just ignore the Fire Spirits on the islands and simply walk past them,
because as soon as Fron and Tia make it to the upper right you win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 37
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 3 Pyramids Puzzle
Items: No Items Received

The last puzzle in the game and one that will actually require thinking skills. Here is how to
solve it: first use Separate. Next, with Fron, go up and pick up the Blue and Green Pyramids one
at a time and place them behind you. Pick up the Red Pyramid, walk over to the left, and place it
onto the corresponding switch. Place the Green Pyramid on the corresponding switch, then pick
up the Blue Pyramid and stand one space left of the Blue switch. Now, switch over to Tia and
move her one space to the right of the Blue switch. Now switch back over to Fron and place the
Blue Pyramid three spaces below the Blue switch. Then pick up the Green Pyramid and place it
two spaces below the Blue switch. Now switch over to Tia and have her walk over to the far left
non-colored switch by the door. Pick up the Green Pyramid and place it onto the corresponding
switch. Now pick up the Blue Pyramid and place it onto the Blue switch when standing one
space to the left of the Blue switch. Finally, walk over to the Green Pyramid, pick it up, walk
over to the non-colored switch next to Tia, and place the Green Pyramid on the Green switch for
the last time to open the door and decipher the puzzle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Diamond Mountain
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 38
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: Barambat
Items: 2 Magic Berries And 2 Wonder Leaves Received Afterward

First off, Barambat moves one space for your every two. That slowness alone makes this battle
much easier. I would not call this boss battle easy, but I would not say it is very difficult either.
Start off by using Tia's Magic Sword on Fron. Then let Barambat come to you and use 3 Dash
Attacks on him up the middle row. After that, switch control to Tia and have her lead Fron to an
escape route through the western part through the trees. You should come out on the upper part
and hopefully Barambat will be in the lower part walking back and forth between the same two
spaces for the rest of the battle. If that happens, just use Dash Attack on him until he dies. If he
actually comes to you, use Tia's Help and Fron's Dash Attack to try and kill him before he
makes it to you. If for some reason worse comes to worse twice and he makes it to you, just
slash him and use basic strategies because by now he should be so weak a few more regular hits
or a skill or two will finish him off. No matter what though, effective use of Fron's skills and
Tia's Help and MagicSword will put you on top.

Battle 39
Controlling: Fron And Tia
Enemies: 8 Ultra Bats
Items: No Items Received

These Ultra Bats (which move two spaces for your every one) will be a bigger pain for Tia than
they will be for Fron. Speaking of Tia, this is her last battle, so take all the stuff you want to use
with Chitta off of her, such as a Chain Armor. Anyway, back to the tactics. Just try to make
the Ultra Bats come to Fron and target Fron so he can take them out one by one with a Jump
Slash. You can wait around and use Help over and over so that Fron has pseudo infinite AP.
Wait around and then move on to the next set or use Tia's Help to recover AP. Since you can
attack them in pairs instead of all at once, this battle should be no problem at all.

Battle 40
Controlling: Fron
Enemies: 4 Gargoyles And 4 Ultra Bats
Items: No Items Received

The first thing you should do is wait around so that the four Ultra Bats come to you and you can
pick them off easily with Jump Slashes. Now either Dash Attack the Gargoyles since you can
wait around as much as you want and recover AP, or use the Jump skill to go two spaces and get
right next to the Gargoyles where they cannot use their Flying Punch and knock you back. Either
way, once again, divide and conquer, and this should be a walk in the park.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 41
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 7 Ultra Bats And 9 Gargoyles With 3 Ultra Bats And 5 Gargoyles Starting
Items: No Items Received

Three Ultra Bats will be barring your way at the front. To defeat them have Chitta Blaze all of
them or use Fron's Jump Slash three times, whichever works for you. This is where the Ribbon
comes in handy, as Chitta can kill Gargoyles completely with her Blaze skill because of the added
Magic bonus. Now keep going and you will encounter some Gargoyles. Take them out with
Jump Slashes since having Chitta behind Fron keeps them from knocking you back. Two Ultra
Bats will eventually be generated, and you must defeat all of the other enemies that will be
generated as well. The Ultra Bats will stay there and prevent more enemies from being generated
until you come close, so try to take advantage of that by recovering AP. If you kill the enemies
early wait around for more to be generated. Then go to the upper part when you are finished.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 42
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: 4 Gargoyles And 4 Ultra Bats, Then Infinity Of Both
Items: No Items Received

In this one I am almost certain that they just keep coming. They come from the far upper and a
little to the left area. Make your way up the stairway and use Chitta's Blaze and Fron's Jump
Slashes when necessary. It should be noted that the Gargoyles can and will use their Flying
Punch when they are hovering in the air outside of the walkway. Make your way up to the end
of the stairway killing anything that gets in your way. However, I would not recommend taking
the time to stop and defeat everything, just whatever is impeding your progress.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Battle 43
Controlling: Fron And Chitta
Enemies: Black Curtain And Almost Always 4 Power Earth Spirits
Items: No Items Received

This is it. This is the final bad guy, and for those of you who wanted to fight a difficult boss,
your wishes have been granted. There may be several different ways to defeat this guy, but this
is the way I used: first walk up to Black Curtain with Chitta and use Blaze three times trying to
hit Black Curtain and the Power Earth Spirits. After using all of her AP, switch over to Fron and
use the distraction to get a Jump Slash in on Black Curtain. From her on out, just dodge the
Power Earth Spirits (who thankfully move one space for your every two) and either Jump Slash
Black Curtain or Dash Attack if you are feeling cautious. Since unless you were wasteful you
should have 10+ Cure-Alls, Magic Berries, and most importantly, Wonder Leaves, Fron should
never have to wait or run out of AP or HP. Use up all the rest of your items, because after this
you cannot use them anymore. Black Curtain uses the same Thunder Attack as Tania and an
annoying Shoot attack which will cause a decent amount of damage eventually because if it is
being used continuously, you will start to hurt. Other than that, just use your skills, use your
items, use your tactics and strategies, and if you have very little healing items, then you have my
sympathy, good luck.

Battle 44
Controlling: Fron (And Tia)
Enemies: The Stone
Items: No Items Received

You may not consider this a battle, but it might be confusing so here is some info on it. First,
Fron will be fully restored and Chitta will be gone. Now, walk over to the stone and try to slash
it. Now the game will get really shaky (for me anyway) so keep hitting "x" until it pulls up the
Skills List. Choose Jump Slash then Tia will come and use Magic Sword on you. Hit "x" until it
pulls up the skills list again, use Jump Slash once more, and you have won the game! Just a side
note, this game was very quick wasn't it? The first time I played, I managed to beat it in a mere
3:30. The second time when I wrote a great deal of this walkthrough it took me about 6:00
because of all the time it took to stop and write down some stuff in my notebook. Either way
though, it is a short game, it is a fun game, and you would probably enjoy playing it again,
possibly trying some different stuff including to go into the Forest Of Confusion or not
depending on which you chose last time.
