What's up? Sphere Edge here. Before you get all excited that I've finally
finished the FAQ, let me say that I haven't. Nothing new has been added these
past few months. It started when I was just too lazy to keep writing, but then
my XBOX broke and needed to be fixed. I just sent it in for service a few days
ago, so I can't write anymore until I get it back. Sorry. Read Thuyker's FAQ,
it's way better.

===================
= 1) Introduction =
===================

Yo, whatup gangstas? Welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for Panzer Dragoon Orta, the
best game yet to hit Microsoft's XBOX! This is my first ever FAQ, so if it
really sucks, don't be too hard on me, eh? Anyway, Orta is one of the only
reasons I own an XBOX. Suffice to say, it is easily the best rail shooter I've
ever played, if not one of the greatest videogames of all time.

The legacy began in 1995, when Sega's highly skilled Team Andromeda released
Panzer Dragoon, the first in what would turn out to be a trio of neglected
Saturn shooters. Another year's passing brought forth the first sequel -- Panzer
Dragoon Zwei, which fed faithful Sega fans with a second helping of rail
shooting goodness. As the Saturn's unfortunate demise was imminent, however,
Team Andromeda returned for one final encore in two years time: Panzer Dragoon
Saga, an epic adventure that meshed classic Panzer series elements with those
found in typical role-playing games. Although I, like most, never had the
privilege of playing the aforementioned classics, Orta is a truly an amazing
game that should be experienced by everyone - whether you've played the
originals or not.

Enjoy!

= 3) Story =
============

Taken directly from the game's instruction manual...

---------------------------
- The Era of Fallen Grace -
---------------------------

The wondrous civilization of the Ancients had long since passed, and the
remaining human population was scattered into a thousand tribes, each seeking
out a marginal existence on the barren land.

One tribe discovered an ancient ruin containing powerful weapons created by
ancient sciences. Using these weapons, the tribe began to reclaim the land from
the bio-engineered creatures that had hunted them for so many years. An Empire
was formed, and it revived the Ancients' flying machines and exterminated all
opposing tribes. Soon the whole world became dependant on the Empire's
technology to protect them.

The greed of the Empire spread, and their desire for power led them uncover the
ultimate weapons: the Towers, which held the promise of absolute dominance over
the world. However, the discovery of the Towers awakened the legendary Dragon
of Destruction, which appeared to stop their activation. Three times this
horned dragon appeared, and each time, it bore upon its back a rider carrying
an ancient gun. A fourth dragon, a black dragon ridden by a young girl named
Azel, appeared soon after.

The appearance of the black dragon marked the beginning of the dragon's final
battle, which lead to the destruction of the Towers, as well as the near
destruction of the Empire itself. With the Towers gone, so, too, were the last
of the dragons.

That is, until the Empire rose once again and awakened dragons of their own.

---------------------
- A Night of Storms -
---------------------

From a backdrop of seething black clouds, five Dragonmares steered by riders of
the Imperial cavalry descend screeching one by one to unleash a maelstrom of
destruction upon the town. In a crumbling stone tower rising amidst the flames
of the burning town, a young girl with pure white hair clutches the bars of her
prison window. The Dragonmares swoop down to tear down the walls of the tower.
She is surrounded, the monsters' snarling jaws closing in on her...

...When an enormous winged shape descends from the sky. A dragon! Long thought
vanished from the surface of the earth, a dragon rescues the girl.

"Where...where are you taking me?"

Borne by the giant beating wings, together they flee the furious pursuit of the
Imperial Army. This is the beginning of an epic journey that will take them
from one world of wonders to the next, and lead them to encounters with
countless enemies and allies, sacred mysteries and secrets.

What fate awaits the two?

Who awaits them at their journey's end?

ORTA
----

Our young dragon-flying, ancient gun-slinging, white-haired heroine. Having
spent her entire life confined within a tiny prison tower, Orta holds against
people as a whole. However, upon her meeting with Mobo and his fellow
Wormriders, she discovers that not all people live to cause her pain. Orta
actually feels significant for the first time in her life while in the presence
of the Wormriders. Panzer Dragoon Orta centers around this young girl and her
attempts to free herself from the cruelty of fate. FAST FACT: According to the
game's producer, Orta means "dawn" in the Panzer language. Cool, eh?

DRAGON
------

This legendary Dragon of Destruction appears seemingly out of nowhere and saves
Orta from the wrath of the Empire's Dragonmares at the beginning of the game.
Using immensely powerful "Arrows of Light" -- bio-lasers shot from the beast's
mouth -- the dragon will be your mount throughout the game, aiding you in your
battle.

MOBO
----

The leader of the Wormrider tribe, Mobo seems, at first, to be no more than an
average hunter trying to earn his keep. As the game progresses, though, Orta
finds that Mobo burns with the inner urge to destroy the Empire. This shared
vendetta against the Empire is what keeps the two fighting together.

ABADD
-----

To avoid spilling any unnecessary beans, let's just say that Abadd is Orta's
main foe during the course of the game. We'll just leave it at that, eh?

IVA DEMILCOL
--- --------

A tragic orphan whose father was killed whilst dabbling with the bio-engineered
creatures that Iva hates with a passion, Iva is a youth training to join the
Imperial army. Although he oft fought with his father, his father's death leaves
Iva devoid of life inside, grief seeming to devour the poor boy's soul.

LETRAL NAUS DEMILCOL
------ ---- --------

A part of the Empire's research unit, Iva's father spent countless hours
studying the bio-engineered creatures. He was killed during a battle involving
the Empire's Dragonmares and the Dragon of Destruction spoken of in legend.
Though he was often cold to Iva, his true motives for working with the object of
his son's hatred were pure.

STRATEI URAMIS
------- ------

A confident young man who saves an exhausted and off-guard Iva from a bio-
engineered creature's attack. After their encounter, Stratei soon becomes Iva's
closest, and only, friend.

---------------------
- 5B) Combat Basics -
---------------------

Attacking Enemies
--------- -------

Throughout the game, you'll have access to two main weapons: Orta's Gun and
your dragon's homing laser. Orta's Gun, which is your basic weapon, can be used
by consecutively tapping the A Button. However, this attack is decently weak,
and must be manually aimed. The Gun's overall strength depends upon your
dragon's current morph form (see Section 5).

The homing laser, on the other hand, is a more powerful weapon that
automatically targets enemies. Simply hold down the A Button and run the
targeting reticule over any enemies and you'll lock-on. Release the button to
unleash a salvo of bio-lasers. These lock-on lasers are limited, however, to
the Base and Heavy Wing morph forms. Again, their overall effectiveness depends
upon your dragon's current form.

Gliding, Decelerating, and the Glide Attack
------- ------------ --- --- ----- ------

Gliding and decelerating is a fundamental part of Orta's gameplay that will
soon become second nature, as it is the most effective way to evade enemy
attacks. During many boss fights, you will be required to use these maneuvers
to find a safe place to attack from. Also, you can use the Glide to ram into
enemies, thus causing damage. This is called the Glide Attack. The X Button
will activate the Glide, while the B Button will cause you to decelerate.

However, the Glide Gauge prevents you from taking advantage of this move. As
you Glide and decelerate, the gauge will become empty, thus temporarily
disabling the Glide. The gauge will refill over time, though, and the size of
the gauge depends upon your dragon type.

Berserk Attacks
------- -------

As you attack enemies, the small white-colored bar at the bottom-left of the
screen will fill up. This is your Berserk Gauge. When gauge has completely
filled, you can unleash a massive Berserk Attack by pressing the Black or White
Button. Each of the three dragon forms has it's own unique attacks. Not only
does this attack often cause incredible damage, but it also grants temporary
invulnerability, and in the case of the Glide Wing form, even replenishes your
life.

Environment
-----------

As you may or may not know, the Panzer series is notorious for its 360 degree
environment. In other words, enemies will be coming at from every possible
direction, so you'll need to be on your guard. Use your radar at the top-right
of the screen to view where your enemies are; they are shown as red dots. In
order to take down many potential threats, you'll need to learn how to
efficiently rotate the camera. Using the L and R Triggers, you can rotate the
camera 90 degrees in either direction. Pulling both triggers simultaneously
will rotate the camera a full 180 degrees. You'll find yourself fighting
against enemies from every direction, so you'll find that your radar is one of
your best friends.

------------
- 5C) Tips -
------------

Morph Forms
----- -----

Don't be afraid to constantly change from form to form. Each of the three morph
forms has its own strengths and weaknesses. Read section six for more in-depth
details.

Attack Constantly!
------ -----------

When you unleash a salvo of lock-on lasers on your enemies, don't just sit idle,
waiting for your lasers to hit. Make use of Orta's gun and start shooting the
second you release your lasers.

Conserve your Berserk
-------- ---- -------

Don't always be gung-ho with your Berserk and let it loose the second you get
it. Conserve it for large groups of enemies or bosses so that you don't
senselessly waste it.

Lock-on
-------

Generally speaking, you'll always want to lock-on to as many enemies as
possible. Not only will this help you fell your adversaries quickly, but it will
also improve your overall score. Just be careful not to waste excessive time
trying to lock-on to everything in sight.

=======================
= 6) DRAGON EVOLUTION =
=======================

-------------------
- 6A) Morph Forms -
-------------------

The newest feature in the Panzer Dragoon universe is the ability to change your
dragon's form at will. Each of the three forms have their own pros and cons, and
are most effectively used in certain situations.

Base Wing
---- ----

As the name suggests, the Base Wing is the basic dragon form; you'll begin each
episode in this form. It has a sick amount of lock-on lasers, making it useful
for battles against a large number of targets, and has decent maneuverability,
as well. Additionally, it has decent Glide abilities. It has a pretty powerful
Berserk Attack that is automatically aimed, as well. All in all, I find the
Base Wing to be the best overall form -- use it whenever there are a large
number of enemies around.

Heavy Wing
----- ----

Although it is very powerful, the Heavy Wing form's excessive size makes it an
easy target for any enemy. And while its lock-on lasers are strong, only three
to five total lock-ons are possible at once. Add to that the fact that it cannot
Glide and you get some serious drawbacks. It does, however, have an incredibly
powerful Berserk Attack, albeit it must be manually aimed. Best used when
fighting against a small number of powerful enemies, or a boss.

Glide Wing
----- ----

Easily the most nimble form, the Glide Wing is great for evasive action. Its
bulky Glide Gauge allows for several elusive moves to be performed before
running dry. Although it has no lock-on lasers, the Glide Wing commands a
machinegun-esque firing rate, allowing missiles and other projectile attacks to
be quickly shot down. Boasting an enlarged Target Sight, the Glide Wing's
lasers will automatically target anything inside the reticule. Also, its
Berserk Attack, though not quite as powerful as the Base or Heavy Wing's,
restores a small portion of your Life Gauge.

-------------------
- 6B) Leveling Up -
-------------------

As in previous games, Orta carries on the ability to level up your dragon. It's
actually done a bit like an RPG.

Gene Bases
---- -----

Gene Bases are, quite simply, your experience points. Released as you destroy
certain enemies, these add up to increase the level of your dragon. As you
receive these nifty items, the amount needed until your next level up will be
displayed at the bottom-right of the screen. Increasing your dragon's level
increases its overall fighting capabilities: it becomes stronger and more
defensive, not to mention cooler looking.

By the way, each dragon form must level up individually. In other words, your
Base Wing may be at Level 4, but your Heavy and Glide forms may still only be at
Level 2. The Gene Bases counts only towards the level of the form that picked it
up. You can check the status of your dragons by pressing start. The maximum
level any form can reach is 5; any additional Gene Bases will have no effect. As
you level up, your Heavy and Glide Wing forms will "evolve", or just start to
look even cooler. Sadly, the Base Wing's form remains the same throughout. Oh
well. Anyway, below is a table displaying the Level and the number of Gene Bases
needed to reach that level.

Level | Gene Bases Needed
------+------------------
1 | 0 (your dragon starts at Level 1)
2 | 2
3 | 4
4 | 6
5 | 8

Acquiring the said amount of Gene Bases for any form will increase its level.
Note that the number of Gene Bases needed is that many more, not that many
total. For example, if you are at Level 2, you need 4 more bases to reach Level
3. Get it?

= 7) WALKTHROUGH =
==================

NOTE: This walkthrough is based on the "Normal" difficulty level, so you may
have to adjust accordingly if you're using one of the other levels. However,
the boss strategies should still work just fine on either of the other modes,
as should the basic tactics and such.

SPOILER WARNING! While I won't be completely exposing every twist and turn the
story takes, there are mild story spoilers within.

---

One fateful night, a group of dragon-like creatures storms the city where Orta
is held captive. These creatures display tremendous power, unlike anything ever
seen before. They tear the city apart. Finally, only Orta's prison tower stands
tall. As these monsters, called Dragonmares, prepare to deal the finishing blow,
an even more powerful being emerges...the legendary Dragon of Destruction!
Climbing onto this creature's back, Orta takes to the skies, an ancient gun of
mass-destruction in hand!

--------------------------------------
- 7A) Episode One: City in the Storm -
--------------------------------------

You'll start this first level off facing backwards, in your Base Wing form, as
you will in every subsequent episode. Four Imperial planes and a Dragonmare will
be shooting at you, so lock-on (Hold the A button and slide the target over the
enemies) to the planes and let loose. The Dragonmare, however, is nearly
impervious to any of your attacks, but shoot at it anyway -- builds up your
Berserk Gauge. Almost immediately, four more Imperial planes and another
Dragonmare will appear, so take them down with your Base Wing's lock-on lasers.
A few more planes will come from in front of you and stop at your rear. Again, a
laser each will drop them. One last squad of planes will appear, so shoot them
and turn so that you're facing to your left. Another group of planes will come
from within the valley on the left. Like the last few times, Base Wing lasers
will do just fine.

Now, turn so that you're facing forward (the blue cone on your radar will be
facing up) and get ready to take down the anti-aircraft guns that lie in front
of you. There are two of them, and if you don't take care of them quickly,
they'll release a missile or two, which can be shot down with regular fire (tap
the A button). Three planes will fly from beneath you, all easily locked and
shot down.

As you continue on, a squadron of planes and anti-aircraft guns will ambush you
from all sides except the front. Take them down in a few waves of lock-ons,
shooting down the incoming missiles all the while. This siege will keep up for
a short while, until you reach the ruins of a few buildings, in which case a
set of planes and anti-aircrafts guns will be awaiting you. Blow by them and be
ready for the group of planes coming from above and, eventually, all sides of
you. Shoot down any missiles with regular gunfire and prepare yourself for this
level's largest siege.

Initially, there will be a Dragonmare or two in front of you. Don't bother
shooting at them; rather turn to the upper-right, where eight or so planes will
come from, leaving some missiles behind them. Don't waste too much time with
the missiles, though, for plane squads will be coming from behind and the
right. Now would be a prime instance to use your Base Wing's Berserk Attack
(hit Black or White), if you've got it built-up by now. You'll continue moving
onward through the valley, so shoot the oncoming Dragonmares for a bit, as
there are no more enemies at the moment.

You'll enter into the sewers, facing backwards, ready to take down any enemies.
As soon as you see the attack planes, lock-on and let fly. You should be able
to take them all down in one shot, though be sure to watch for any missiles
that they may leave behind. Soon after, another, albeit smaller, squad will
come after you. After taking them down, turn 180 degrees around, as two more
planes await you in that direction. Now switch to your Glide Wing form (Press Y
twice for our first ever dragon morph! Yay!), so that you can more easily move
beneath the giant turning cogs. In order to get past these things, move to the
bottom of the screen in the following directions for each cog: left, right,
left, right. Should be easy to get by without any damage. Now switch back to
your Base form and be ready to shoot down the three enemies that will come from
behind you, though too fast to hit them until they get in front of you. One
final group will come from the same direction and, thus, require the same
tactics. As you leave the sewers, give yourself a big ol' pat on the back;
you've just reached the game's first boss!

BOSS BATTLE ONE: ASSAULT CARRIER VERMANA
---- ------ --- ------- ------- -------

Start this first boss battle off by tapping Y once to switch to your Heavy Wing
form and letting loose with your powerful lock-on lasers on each of the four
missile-shooting cannons in front of you. Every so often, they'll shoot some
missiles at you, so either take them down with regular fire (and risk some
damage) or switch to your Glide form and take 'em all out! Either way, once the
missiles are gone, get back to your Heavy form and take out the cannons.

Soon enough, you'll begin moving forward, across the top of the ship. Still
using the Heavy Wing, lock-on to anything you can and let loose 'til there are
no longer any locks. Also be on the watch for the two planes that will emerge
from your left. You'll then begin moving beneath the ship, so, of course, you
should be shooting at anything you can. Finally, you'll arrive at the back of
the ship, where you'll meet two more missile-launching cannons. Like before,
shoot them with your Heavy form, switching to your Glide form to rid the screen
of any incoming missiles.

After taking out those cannons, you'll move to the side of the ship. By now,
you should know the drill, anything that can be locked should be being
bombarded with your Heavy Wing's lasers. Now is also a perfect time to use a
Berserk Attack (Preferably the Heavy Wing's, though the Base's works fine, as
well). If that doesn't finish off this behemoth of a ship, a few more Heavy
Wing shots should. If the ship releases some large canisters across from you,
switch to your Glide Wing and shoot them with machinegun fire until they
explode (If you can't get them all, you can evade them by accelerating). Keep
shooting and Vermana will go down in no time.

----------------------------------
- 7B) Episode Two: Altered Genos -
----------------------------------

This utterly beautiful level takes place over a river lying between some
gorgeous plains. The first thing you should notice is the three flying creatures
ahead of you. You'll soon become rather friendly with these people, and no, you
can't shoot them down. Sorry.

Anyway, you should already be in your Base form, so be prepared to lock-on to a
large group of enemies that will appear in the mid-left portion of your screen,
just under where the dialogue is appearing. Lock-on to as many enemies as
possible and let fly, hopefully clearing out the entire group. Now switch to
your Glide form and simply hold down the A button, which works surprisingly
well for taking out the butterfly enemies that appear throughout this level.
After two waves of butterflies, switch back to your Base Wing and lock-on to
the living plants coming out of the left wall. Quickly dispatch of the plants
and the squad of dragon-looking enemies that will coming from above-behind you,
before switching back to your Glide Wing and taking down some more butterflies.

Turn around so that you are facing backwards and morph back to your Base form.
There will be several more plant enemies from atop the vines that you pass
under. Watch out for their green balls of energy and the enemies that will
appear as you destroy the plants. Two more similar sets of plants await you, so
apply the same tactics, only know that the number of plants increases as you
go. However, you will never need more than one wave of lock-on lasers to kill
them. At this point, a giant worm will emerge from the water, so shoot at it a
bit. As you approach the fork in the road, you have a choice to make, you can
either go to the left, a less fun choice, or you can go to the right (Be sure
to be facing the right if this is your choice) for a much more fun-filled
section.

I prefer to take the right path, so that's what I'll talk about (the left path
contains few enemies, all of which will go down in a single shot, and some
simple barriers that you must maneuver over, under, or around). Four enemies
will come out of the water, so lock-on and shoot them down. You'll ascend so
that you can shoot at the enemies on the plateau. Your first order of business
should be taking out the five flying enemies that will come from your left. The
small fries will go down in one shot, but the larger enemy will take a few more
shots. Whittle away at him, then unleash a Berserk Attack using your Base Wing
to not just finish off the flying guy, but also the entire army of dinosaur-
looking enemies running around below you. Neat-o!

There will be no more enemies (save a second appearance of the giant worm,
which you can't kill just yet) until you enter the next area, though you can
prepare yourself by morphing to you Base Wing, if for some reason you changed
from it.

At first, you'll come out of a watery cave into a lush valley. Four enemies can
be locked-onto at the mid-left portion of your screen. You'll take a sharp turn
and encounter four more, you'll need to be quick to lock them, so try using
your Glide form instead. Once they're gone, switch back to your Base Wing,
though, because four enemies will cut in front of you and need to be shot down.
Once again, you'll come out of a cave, this time with about eight enemies
waiting to be gunned down. Again you'll enter into the cave, again with eight
or so enemies circling in front of you. As you emerge, get as many locks as
possible and let those lasers fly. Also try accelerating to take out some of
the many enemies guarding this area's exit, which, by the way, leads to a
mini-boss.

BOSS BATTLE TWO: YONDO-WORM
---- ------ --- ----------

That worm that's been hanging around the whole level's back, and this time he's
brought a buddy with him! I find it easiest to simply pump this guy full of
lasers using my Heavy Wing, gunning down any energy blobs with regular gunfire,
and switching to my Glide Wing to speed up or slow down so that this guy
doesn't ram into me. Use your Berserk Attacks whenever you get the chance and
this battle should be over briefly. Just be sure to glide or slow down when the
two worms look as if they're going to ram into you. Not the hardest battle
ever...

But this level isn't over yet! As you leave the worms' grove, you'll come into
the back of a waterfall cave. Immediately, you should notice an enemy lingering
around the bottom-right of your screen. Heavy Wing lasers will do the trick.
Take him down quick, though, for a sizable group of smaller enemies will appear
in a matter of seconds. The Heavy Wing will do well, though the Base Wing's
substantial amount of lock-ons is preferable. As you continue onwards, two more
flocks of enemies will appear, just begging to be shot down. Just as they fall,
several large, gray jellyfish-looking creatures will appear. Your Heavy Wing
will dispatch of them quickly. A Berserk Attack also works nicely here. Finally,
a much larger jellyfish will appear, though the same tactics can be applied. As
long as you pause every so often to shoot down the green projectiles, this area
should be a snap. Once the big guy goes down, you'll
proceed to this episode's second boss.

BOSS BATTLE THREE: IKRAKAV
---- ------ ----- -------

Ikrakav is, quite simply, a big floating cage with a flower inside it. At
first, there seems to be no way to damage this guy. However, Mobo will soon
mention that you need to get behind him, so decelerate twice. Now, you'll
probably want to switch to your Heavy Wing and nail the flower with your
lasers. Any Berserk Attacks should be conserved for now. Once you cause enough
damage, Ikrakav will rise out of the water, now floating. Now, you can unleash
that Berserk Attack. Throughout this battle, you'll find that you need to
constantly speed up and slow down in order to cause damage. Also, watch out for
the bags hanging off of this beast, as they will explode, causing damage to
you, if you don't shoot them quickly. Other than that, this battle can be
finished with ease.

----------------------------------------
- 7C) Episode Three: The Fallen Ground -
----------------------------------------

As first enter this level, a myriad of enemies will pop out from the ground
below. Although there are quite a few of them, they have too much durability to
go down quickly at the hand of the Glide Wing. The Base Wing, however, is a
different story. Wait for the enemies to appear, then get as many lock-ons as
possible. You'll have to do this several times; though taking down the vast
majority of them shouldn't be much of a problem. Simply moving around the screen
should be enough to evade their fire. As you pass onward, Mobo and co. will show
their wormriding faces again, this time they want to fight you! Apparently, Mobo
thinks you are riding a Dragonmare (which you aren't) and are, thus, a part of
the Empire. Oh well, here we go again...

BOSS BATTLE FOUR: THE WORMRIDERS
---- ------ ---- --- ----------

As the battle begins, switch to your trusty Heavy Wing and nail each of the
four Wormriders with a lock-on laser to dole out some hefty damage. Shortly,
Mobo will tell you (don't you just love it when your enemy tells you what he's
going to do?) that he's going to use a smoke bomb. This is your cue to switch
to your Glide Wing. The four Wormriders will charge towards you, each releasing
a purple smoke bomb or two as they pass you by. Shoot the bombs down and wait
for them to come around a second time.

Now you'll want to switch back to your Heavy form and pepper them with fire.
Shoot down their purple blobs of energy with regular gunfire, unless you suck
at that, in which case the Glide Wing's fire would be preferable. And that's
about it for this battle. They'll continue to circle around you, dropping some
smoke bombs every so often, but otherwise remaining nearly harmless. When you
win, Mobo finally realizes that you aren't an Imperial, so he tells you to
follow him. Not that you have a choice or anything...

He'll lead you through a narrow valley. There are white enemies all around, but
your sheer speed makes it difficult to hit them. I prefer to use the Glide Wing
for this part, though hitting all the enemies can still be tricky. I really
can't think of any better way to help you out with this area.

As you enter the next area, a vast wasteland, full of plateaus, some enemies
will come from your right. They take two hits from your Base Wing to go down,
so be aware of that. A few more will come from your left, followed by about
five in front. Try to dodge their projectiles as you shoot them. After the
third batch, you'll enter a cave filled with energy traps. Move to the following
directions to avoid each beam: left, right, up, down, far left/right (the last
one is directly in the middle of the screen, so either left or right will
suffice). As you exit the cavern, you'll find a repeat of the enemies found
before entering the cavern. Three from the right, three from the left, followed
by a whole slew front and center. Soon after, you'll enter into another cave. No
more electrical traps, but some enemies behind you. Upon your exit of the cave,
some enemies behind you seem to have locked-on to Mobo. Be a darling and help
the poor guy out. A bit later, two groups of enemies will come from your right.
After dispatching of them, get ready for another round, only this time from the
left. As they fall, you'll notice three enemies in front of you. As these guys
are shielded, you must get behind them to cause any damage. Speed up and take
them out before slowing down to get behind a second group.

You'll soon reach a new area, where a large jellyfish-type creature awaits. I
always like to use the Heavy Wing to knock off those gray armored plates of
his. When it moves in front of you, simply avoid the red beam of his, maybe
switching to your Glide form if it suits your tastes. Around this time, some
enemies will attack Mobo, who is really starting to show off his incompetence.
Shoot down the enemies before continuing your assault on the jellyfish. Just as
he falls, his brother, or mother, or something else that looks a lot like him
shows up. He doesn't know any new tricks, so apply the same tactics as before.

As Mobo and you move on, a massive group of the enemies found all over this
level show up behind you. Persistent little buggers, aren't they? Now would be
a great time to use a Berserk Attack, or just the Base Wing's locks, whichever
floats your boat. Either way, you'll continue onward until you meet this
level's boss.

BOSS BATTLE FIVE: CATHARP
---- ------ ---- -------

Initially, you'll want to be aiming at the grayish circle in his mid-portions.
As per usual, the Heavy Wing works well for this, as regular gunfire can take
care of any projectiles. When he jumps ahead of you, you'll want to accelerate
in front of him and continue your assault on that circle. You can also just
blast away from behind him, though that seems to cause very little damage, as
well as being a much more dangerous place. Believe it or not, your Berserk
Attacks work great, so use them whenever you have the chance. If you find
yourself taking too much damage in your Heavy form, the Base Wing also works
well, and provides a Glide Gauge, too. Other than that, there really isn't too
much to say about this straightforward battle. There are no alternate forms of
this guy or anything, though he will seem to disappear during the latter stages
of this battle, only to be found atop a plateau or behind one. Keep chipping
away and eventually he'll crumble.

------------------------------------
- 7D) Episode Four: Gigantic Fleet -
------------------------------------

Right off the bat, you'll want to switch to your Heavy Wing and let loose on
one of the two airships directly in front of you. Be sure to concentrate on one,
rather than going for the both of them, as taking one down in its entirety is
better than damaging both, but taking neither down. Before you can do a whole
lot of damage, though, the ships will release a salvo of missiles upon you. To
avoid a ton of damage, you'll want to immediately switch to your Glide Wing and
shoot them down. As soon as you are out of harm's way, switch back to your Heavy
form and continue your assault.

As the airships fade into the blue horizon, Mobo will give the command to dive,
and you'll do so, revealing four more airships in addition to a much larger
ship. As you fly towards the ships, a squadron of planes will fly in front of
you, releasing projectiles that need to be shot down. As the legions of planes
finally pass, you can focus on blasting the four airships with Heavy lasers.
When they've fallen, the large floating mass directly in front of you should be
your target. Watch out for the bolts of energy that it will shoot at you and you
should be able to shoot it down before Mobo gives the command to head straight
up.

Looking up, you'll see another group of airships, with several smaller planes
whizzing around. If you've got your Berserk ready, let fly to take down
everything. A few more planes will show up, though they're no match for your
bio-lasers, just keep on eye on your radar to keep track of them. Eventually,
you'll come face-to-face with another massive floating ship. Its power pales in
comparison to that of your Heavy Wing. There are also several airships in the
background, so aim for them once the big one goes down.

As you continue onwards, you'll soon be flying side-to-side with the
mothership. Six cannons in front of you will release some missiles, which
should be taken down with regular gunfire after nailing each of the cannons
with lock-on lasers. Three more of the same sets of cannons await you further
ahead, so be ready to lock and load before shooting down some missiles. After
the last set of cannons, a squad of planes will drop from above, warranting the
use of your Base Wing's lasers. Connected to the ship on your right will be a
massive amount of missile-launching mortars, which need to be hit with lasers
as soon as possible. Though it is difficult, you should be shoot down a good
portion of the incoming missiles. More planes and another set of mortars, taken
out the same way, pave a dangerous way onward. After the mortars, several more
squadrons of planes will drop from above. Get as many locks as possible before
releasing, then clean up the survivors with a second set of lasers.

Before you will appear a square-shaped silver-ish shield that will reflect any
bio-lasers. Your Glide Wing's machinegun fire will work rather nicely, however.
As the shield falls into oblivion, several groups of planes will try to ram
you; you'll have to make your own path through them. At last, two more shields
will appear. Accelerate right past them and take them down from behind. Another
pair will show up, so accelerate and shoot them down. Finally, a group of four
silver shields will come into view, though no new tactics are required. As they
fall, you'll enter into a new area, where the Empire shows its desire to kill
you more so than ever before.

BOSS BATTLE SIX: IMPERIAL DEFENSE STATUE
---- ------ --- -------- ------- ------

As you first enter into this area, the giant defense statue will lie quite a
distance in front of you. However, it is still very dangerous, even at a
distance. It will fire from itself some blue-ish beams that are very damaging.
Luckily, you can see them from quite a distance, so evading them isn't a
problem.

Now that the statue is in your range, switch to your Heavy Wing and unload you
lasers and a Berserk, if you have it, on the colored circle on the statue's
chest. When the statue raises its arms above its head, it will shoot powerful
beams from its eyes, so either switch to your Glide Wing and avoid the beams
while firing at the circle or accelerate behind him (you'll need to do this in
a bit anyway, so I prefer this option). Remain in your Glide form so that you
can easily take down the incoming missiles and simply wait for the statue's
anti-laser system to kick in. Once it does, the circles below you will begin
rotating, as well as open for fire from your lasers. Once you destroy all of
the circles and you get the message saying that the anti-laser system is
malfunctioning, decelerate back to the front and hit the circle will a Berserk
attack if you didn't use one earlier and unload your lasers. Of course, once
the arms go up, you should scram to avoid any unnecessary damage. Lather.
Rinse. Repeat. Once this guy goes down, that "Mare Squadron" you've been
hearing about shows up. What fun.

BOSS BATTLE SEVEN: DRAGONMARE SQUADRON
---- ------ ----- ---------- --------

Directly in front of you, several Dragonmares are ready to kill you. You know
the drill - nail them with lasers from you Heavy Wing. Once they start shooting
orange projectiles at you, however, switch to your Glide form so that you can
easily shoot them down. At this point, the whole flock of mares will move
beneath you and to the right, so as to make things a bit more difficult for
you. No problem, though, as you can still hit them very easily. Keep knocking
down their projectiles, switching the focus of your fire to the mares
themselves whenever you get a chance. Again, they'll relocate, this time above
you. Same thing, though - orange projectiles. They'll move behind you again, and
scream just before trying to ram you. Accelerate at the right time to avoid
them.

They'll lead you around a couple of loops and such, at one point heading
straight up, leaving in their wake a mass of orange projectiles. Blast your way
through and they'll show you a new trick - they'll start shooting blue-ish
cyclones of energy at you. Keep moving and you should take minimal, if any,
damage. After another round of projectiles, they mares will separate from each
other fly around sporadically, leaving black trails behind them. Switch to your
Glide Wing and fly around those trails, as they will cause decent amounts of
damage to you if you come into contact with one. And, thus, they will restart
their entire cycle again. In other words, if they're still alive, start reading
this strategy over again from the top.

-------------------------------------
- 7E) Episode Five: Eternal Glacies -
-------------------------------------

Being shot down, your dragon will be temporarily grounded, and thus unable to
move up and down. Your other morph forms will be unavailable also, as will be
your Berserk attack capabilities. But other than that, everything else is still
intact. Right off, you should see the silhouette of a giant enemy. Get as many
locks and release, all the while hitting it with regular gunfire. From behind
you will emerge a plethora of dinosaurs, running alongside you and shooting
painful green bursts of energy at you. As they either fall or run along a
different course, two more of those gargantuan enemies will appear, both
warranting lock-on lasers coupled with normal fire. A third one isn't far off,
either, so be ready for it. Also, these enemies may unleash a bunch of energy
balls on you, so be on the lookout for any such things, as they can be quite
damaging.

Moving onward, you'll soon be ambushed by a whole troop of those massive
enemies. For the most part, though, they won't be doing a whole lot of attacking
you, so you can rip straight into them without excessive regard for your own
life.

As you enter into a dark valley, you might notice a group of dinosaurs on the
plateau to your right. Shooting down their green bolts of energy as they
appear, tear into them with your bio-lasers. Some of the merciless beasts will
even jump off their platform to run adjacent to you, making them a priority to
attack first. As the dinosaurs run off on a different path from you, be ready
for a pair of "snow sharks" to jump out from the snow behind you. Regular fire
will do fine to take them down. If you watch your radar, you can see the next
batch come from behind and move into your front before jumping out at you and,
hopefully, being shot down. After they're gone, you may notice several enemies
jumping from one side of the valley to the other. Lock-on to them and release
when they jump across. Sooner or later, they'll jump down next to you so that
they can shoot those obnoxious green projectiles of theirs at you.

Whilst the dinosaur threat is now diminished, some more snow sharks will appear
in front of you. Again, shooting them will bring the dinosaurs hopping around
above you into sight. This time, they'll be shooting their projectiles at you
the whole time, just to keep you on your toes. They really shouldn't cause much
of a problem, though. As the remainder of the dinosaurs again taper off into
the distance, the infamous snow sharks will make another appearance. As you
continue past a small cliff, you'll come across a bridge, which just happens to
serve as a battleground for you and the upcoming boss.

BOSS BATTLE EIGHT: ELS-ENORA
---- ------ ----- ---------

As the battle commences, you will be still be grounded, thus leaving you with
no perogative but to lock-on to as many targets as possible and let fly. Be
sure to shoot down any projectiles and you'll do just fine. However, as this
boss's strength dwindles (around 50 percent total life), it'll shoot out the
bridge. Unable to slow down, the dragon continues onward and takes one giant
leap of faith...

...and of course takes to the air, ready to take down this massive beast. You'll
see colored flashes above this boss, signifying that projectiles will be coming
from that area. The Glide Wing can take those things down in a heartbeat, so it
would be the optimum choice. Whenever you get a chance, switch to your Base or
Heavy Wing so that you can cause some real damage. Continue cycling between your
forms to attack and shoot down projectiles until there seem to be no more
targets. At this point in time, you'll want to accelerate to either side of the
beast and continue your onslaught. Beware of the projectiles from beneath this
beast's wings, though, as they can build-up to cause a ton of damage.

Now, every so often, this boss will cause a mass of crystals to rain from the
sky, engulfing you right in the center of this jungle of projectiles. You Glide
Wing not only allows you take down most of the crystals, but provides the
maneuverability to avoid the ones you can't hit. Nice!

Anyway, keeping hitting under the wings until they've both been drained clean
of any targets. When this occurs, the Els-Enora will start to have a seizure,
or so it seems as it will drain its remaining life by itself, sparing you the
trouble. Quite the friendly beast, really. With that, this episode is
officially over!

LOOK FOR THE COMPLETED WALKTHROUGH IN FUTURE UPDATES! SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE!

====================
= 8) Sub-Scenarios =
====================

--------------------
- 8A) Imperial Boy -
--------------------

A set of missions centering on Iva Demilcol, a tormented young boy out to seek
revenge against the "Dragon of Destruction" that killed his father.

EPEISODION PROTO: Death of My Father
---------- ----- ----- -- ---------

The controls for Iva's pod are rather simple at this point, the A button is
used to ascend (release it to descend), while the Right Thumbstick controls the
pod's general direction. For this basic mission, begin by tapping A to keep
altitude, all the while moving towards the gap at the upper-right corner of the
screen. Be careful not to hit anything, especially the ground, as it will
result in an instant death. Now you'll want to release A to descend and pass
through the gap at the bottom. The last gap is at the upper-left corner of the
wall, so hold A to climb quickly. Your goal now is to land of the red and blue
landing pad below you. Be sure to aim with the crosshair and tap A occasionally
to set your course straight. You don't have to land directly on the portrait,
though it does raise your score.

EPEISODION DUOBA: Imperial Military School
---------- ----- -------- -------- ------

Take note that the B and X buttons can now be used to fire your gun, while Y
will reload. The point of this mission is to kill as many bio-engineered
creatures as possible, so keep the shots coming. Don't forget to hit A once in a
while to keep your altitude and reduce damage. The enemies on the second level
are a bit tougher, but as long as you keep hitting them, they'll fall in no
time. As long as you took down enough enemies, you'll pass on to the next level.

EPEISODION TRINE: Loneliness
---------- ----- ----------

This mission is pretty much a rehash of the previous one, though you can now
lock-on to enemies using B. If you got past the prior episode, I can't imagine
you'll have any trouble with this one. Initially, you'll find yourself matched
up against several small enemies, followed by a larger one. Lock-on missiles
and your basic gun provide more than enough firepower to take them down. You'll
meet another one of those big papas later, but that's about as much of a
challenge as this level offers.

EPEISODION QUATE: Friends
---------- ----- -------

This mission is laughably easy. Case in point: Stratei will tell you where the
enemy is coming from, and you must turn in that direction and take down a sole
Wormrider enemy with a homing missile (used with the A button). Apparently, Mobo
and his pals need to work a bit on their combat method. Eventually, Orta and her
dragon will show up and shoot you down. Not so much fun when you're on the
receiving end of those Arrows of Light, is it? Didn't think so.

EPEISODION QUINI: Village of the Seekers
---------- ----- ------- -- --- -------

This level can be really annoying. Pretty much, you have to dip close enough to
the river to get that basket underneath your pod underwater. Fill it up to the
top and return it to the reservoir. You'll start off at the top of a cliff, by
the reservoir that you'll be returning your water to. As you begin moving
forward, lower your altitude so that you can dip your basket into the water.
You'll cross the river one more time before returning to the reservoir to
release your water, which is done in the same manner as collecting it. You'll
continue following this same path over and over until you return two baskets
full of water. Of course, Smilebit doesn't like to make things easy on us
(although JSRF was an exception), so there are tons of enemies flying around.
Don't bother yourself trying to kill them all, though, just take out anything
in your current path. By the way, when you dip the basket into the water, be
ready to ascend IMMEDIATLEY if you see that really big worm's head pop out. Two
full baskets of water returned to the reservoir is good enough to finish this
bad boy off.

EPEISODION SEXI: Vengeance
---------- ---- ---------

So Iva's finally found Orta and that dragon, eh? Seems like a good place for a
chase scene. Smilebit obviously agrees. Shoot down the small enemies with
regular fire, while the larger ones, not to mention those running on the
ground, warrant lock-on shots mixed with basic gunfire. The only real threat
posed by this level is that getting hit slows you down dramatically, this
causing you to lose Orta and the dragon. As long as you don't get hit too much,
though, this level should be a cakewalk.

EPEISODION SEPTUA: Inescapable Fate
---------- ------ ----------- ----

This final mission can be a bit tricky, but not if you know what's coming.
Begin by raising your altitude a bit to pass the first barrier, though try not
to bang your head on the ceiling, then be prepared for an immediate drop to
move beneath the second barrier. The next gap is smack in the middle of the
third barrier, accompanied by two enemies, both easily shot down. The next
barrier has gaps to the upper-left and right, the left path guarded by two
additional enemies. Another steep drop to the bottom, with several enemies
vying for your attention. Shoot past the enemies, then ascend to the top-left,
where a stronger enemy will be awaiting you. Take him out with some rapid fire,
then drop to the bottom-right, all the while shooting at the three enemies.
Keep your current altitude, but turn to the left to find the next gap in the
barrier. Climb up high again and enter the next chamber, where there'll be a
landing pad, just like in the first level. Try to land as close to the near
edge as possible, so you don't slide off.

You'll be teleported to a similar area. Three enemies will appear before you,
so shoot them down with missiles and regular fire and head for the gap in the
wall, shooting down the next group of four enemies on the way. In this next
room, there are several enemies projecting massive green beams across the room.
Shoot down as many as possible to make the journey across a bit safer. I've
found that halfway between the ceiling and floor is the safest place, though
still not completely safe. Another beam-shooting enemy and teleporter are all
that stand between you and the completion of Iva's missions. Dandy.

========================================
= 11) Original Panzer Dragoon Mini-FAQ =
========================================

Unlocked as you beat the regular game on any mode or after accumulating five
total hours of play time, the original Panzer Dragoon has returned in all it's
glory. No updated graphics or play mechanics, but still one killer game. Here's
the story given to you:

Empire is seeking to harness the power of an ancient tower that houses a
devastating arsenal of powerful weapons. With these weapons, Empire hopes to
destroy the menace of the bio-weapons and unite the world under its rule. Your
name is Kyle Fluge. You are traveling on the Great Plains as a member of a
hunting party when you come across a ferocious battle between two great dragons.
As you watch, the rider of the blue dragons is fatally wounded. He falls to your
feet, but before he dies, he charges you with a quest; to take his place upon
the blue dragon and prevent the Dark Dragon from reuniting with Tower...

==================================
= 12) Frequently Asked Questions =
==================================

Although this entire guide is referred to as an "FAQ", only this section is
ACTUALLY an FAQ, that is, a section containing the most Frequently Asked
Questions. So anyway, I've compiled a list of questions that I often hear. Here
are the answers.

---

Q - Just what is Panzer Dragoon Orta? Is it an RPG like Saga?

A - No, Panzer Dragoon is a rail shooter in the vein of the original Panzer
Dragoon, as well as the first sequel, Zwei. By a rail shooter, what I mean
is that, while you can freely move your dragon about to evade enemy
attacks, you are confined to one sole path. Other examples of rail shooters
include Star Fox, Rez, and Radiant Silvergun.

---

Q - I unlocked the original Panzer Dragoon. How do I get Zwei and Saga?

A - Unfortunately, neither Zwei nor Saga is unlockable, just the original
    Panzer Dragoon.

---

Q - Do Box Game scores count towards my Flight Records? Great! Now I can get
the infamous Winged Death ranking! Bwahaha!

A - Terribly sorry to burst your bubble, but the answer to your question is no.
With the increased Berserk and Life options, achieving the high-end ranks
would be far too easy. Besides, where's the fun in cheating, eh?

---

Q - What is the easiest way to accumulate the 20 hours of playtime needed to
    unlock everything in Pandora's Box?

A - Since pausing the game doesn't count towards your time, there are several
ways to rack up the needed time. The best way is to simply play the game
over and over. It's a good game, right? So why would you want to cheat
    yourself?

Anyway, if you really want to accumulate the time cheaply, just select
Mission 3 (Enemy Attack) in Pandora's Box and let it play by itself. The
mission repeats itself automatically, so you can go to the store and buy
some fake bling or something while you wait.

---

Q - I can't beat [Insert troublesome area here]. How can I?

A - Well, since I'm lazy and haven't bothered to finish this FAQ yet, you won't
find the needed answers here. Check out Thuyker's FAQ, it's complete, and
    much better.

---

Q - Which Dragon form is the best?

A - Personally, I like the Base Wing the best. However, there isn't really one
form that is way better than the others -- it just depends on your
situation. I like the Heavy Wing whilst battling bosses, the Glide Wing
when a salvo of projectiles are headed towards me, and the Base Wing when
there are a bunch of enemies headed for me.

---

Q - On the final boss's second stage, how do I dodge his homing lasers?

A - This is kind of tricky. When you get to the part where he is about ready to
use his homing lasers, switch to your Base Wing form and get as many locks
as possible, but DON'T SHOOT YET! Wait until you hear a shrill ringing
sound and a green sphere encircles your dragon. That's your cue to shoot. If
done correctly, you'll take out the threat of his lasers. Rinse and repeat.

And now, as sadly as it is, I'm afraid this FAQ must come to a close. It was
tons o' fun, and I'd certainly like to do another sometime in the future.
Having said that, I believe there is but one last thing to say:
