Version 1.0 (6/13/00): This is the first version of this separate FAQ. It was
originally part of the Ultimate Kirby Guide, but it is now separate along with
some of my other Kirby guides.

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Kirby's Adventure was the only Kirby game ever released for the Nintendo
Entertainment System. It was one of the newer games for the system since it
came out about a year or so before the NES was discontinued. Kirby's Adventure
is just like all the other Kirby games that came after it, but like Kirby's
Dream Land 2, you must enter doors from the overworld area to enter each level.
In this game, you can open up blocked areas on the world map screen by
activating hidden switches in many levels throughout the game. There are also a
ton of abilities in this game, so you'll be very busy with this game!

-= 3. Story -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Light years away, on a tiny star not visible from Earth, is the magical,
peaceful place known as Dream Land. The beings that inhabit this wondrous world
live in a blissful existence that centers on eating, sleeping and playing. An
example of their carefree customs includes the traditional after-lunch feast
nap. After they awaken from their nap, the Dream Landers discuss their dreams
and fervently hope that each other's fondest wishes come true.

One day, a young Dream Lander named Kirby awoke from his after-lunch nap
feeling terrible. "What happened?" he wondered to himself. "I didn't have any
dreams during my lunch nap!" This lack of dreams left Kirby feeling very
uneasy. After talking to some of his friends, he found that the problem was
much more serious than he had thought, for they had not experienced any dreams
either! "Something must have happened to the Dream Spring!" they exclaimed in
unison.

The Dream Spring is a magical well that is a reservoir for all the dreams of
the inhabitants of Dream Land. Dreams also flow out of the Dream Spring and
envelop Dream Land, granting all sleeping beings enjoyable dreams.

Legends told that the Dream Spring was created by a magical artifact known as
the Star Rod. The sparkling star on the tip of this scepter was an actual
fragment of a star that had landed in Dream Land in the distant past. The Star
Rod now provided energy to the Dream Spring and served as the very symbol of
Dream Land.

The lack of dreams made everyone in Dream Land feel restless and irritable. The
joyful laughter that had once resounded throughout Dream Land could no longer
be heard at all. Things were bleak. Kirby, the roly-poly hero of DreamLand,
boldly announced his intention to investigate the Dream Spring and find the
cause of all the trouble.

Upon reaching the Dream Spring, who did he find but King DeDeDe, bathing in its
magical waters! In the past King DeDeDe had caused mischief in Dream Land by
stealing all the Dream Landers' food and Sparkling Stars. Now, in the middle of
the Dream Spring, in place of the Star Rod, sat DeDeDe, covered with bubble
bath.

"So, you're up to your old tricks again, eh, DeDeDe?!" accused Kirby.

"What are you talking about, young pudge ball?" DeDeDe looked surprised. "I
thought I'd do everyone a favor by..."

"No, no no!" Kirby shook his head. "I won't listen to your tricks! What have
you done with the Star Rod?!"

"Oh, that old thing," DeDeDe said nonchalantly. "I broke it into seven pieces
and gave each piece to one of my friends..."

"What was DeDeDe thinking?!" Kirby wondered. Before hearing any more of what
DeDeDe had to say, Kirby set off on the long trek to gather the pieces of the
Star Rod and return them to the Dream Spring. Hopefully, he could return the
sparkly to the Dream Spring so that the people of Dream Land could again enjoy
their happy midday naps.

-= 5. Hidden Switch Guide -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

World 3, Level 1: In the 4th room, go all the way to the right and enter the
door there. In that room, drop down the pit to the right and destroy the locks
blocking you, then enter the door. Destroy the Bomb Block and then enter the
door above you and press the switch.

World 3, Level 6: In the 5th room, go up until you see 4 blocks to the side.
Destroy the blocks with your air-puff attack, and then enter the door. Destroy
the Bomb Block, then get across the room as quickly as possible, then enter the
door and push the switch in the next room.

World 4, Level 1: In the 4th room, go all the way right until you reach a
"wall" of blocks that you must destroy or inhale to get past. Near the end of
this block barricade, you'll see a block bordered with a black line, and go to
THAT block and destroy it. Fly to the position where the block was and press Up
to enter a hidden door, then push the switch.

World 4, Level 3: In the 2nd room, go as far as you can until you reach a door
suspended in mid-air. Enter that room and push the switch.

World 4, Level 6: In the 4th room, it'll be dark there, so go as far right as
you can until you reach a Light enemy. Inhale it and take its ability, then use
it to brighten up the room a bit! Now that there's light, backtrack towards the
beginning of the room and you'll find a door you didn't see before. Enter that
door and push the switch.

World 5, Level 1: In the 2nd room, drop down as far as you POSSIBLY can go
until you reach a "thicker" section of blocks. Go to the left side of that
platform and destroy the blocks on that side until you reveal a door. Enter
that room and push the switch that's underwater!

World 5, Level 4: In the 3rd room, about halfway through you'll see a hidden
door concealed in the waterfall. Enter that room and then enter the FIRST door
that you see in that room and push the switch.

World 5, Level 5: In the very 1st room, get through it until you're able to go
down. Go down, then go left and enter the door on a ledge. Take the Hi-Jump
ability, then destroy all the blocks. Then get the Fire ability and light the
fuse, then fly up the gap you just opened from the blocks and jump into the
cannon. The cannon will launch you into a new room, so just push the switch
there.

World 5, Level 6: Before you try and go for the switch here, I suggest you get
the Hammer ability from the Arena in this world. When you have it, go to the
3rd room and enter the first door you come across on an island. Then, go on top
of the small platform in the middle of the room and destroy the green blocks
with the hammer. Destroy all the other blocks to reveal another door. Enter
that room and push the switch.

World 6, Level 1: I suggest that you have the Stone ability before you attempt
to hit the switch in this level! When you get it, go to the 2nd room and enter
the first door that you see. Use the Stone ability to destroy the odd block in
middle of the room, then enter the door and push the switch.

World 6, Level 2: As for the last level, I strongly advise that you have the
Stone or Hammer abilities before coming to this level! When you have either
one, get to the 2nd room and find the FIRST door there and enter it. Pound down
the stake there with your hammer or with the Stone ability, and then enter that
new room and hit the switch.

World 6, Level 3: In the 2nd room, defeat the Hammer mini-boss and then take
its ability after you defeat it and go up the ladder. Destroy the crate in the
wall to the right, then drop down into the passageway, then when you land, go
left. Destroy the Bomb Block and then go where the block was and push up. Enter
the hidden room and enter the door above it and you'll end up in a room with a
cannon. Inhale the Fire enemy, and then get about halfway under the right
platform. (In the water.) Swallow the enemy so the fire shoots out of your
mouth underwater and lights the fuse, and then quickly swim into the cannon.
When you reach the new area, hit the switch.

World 6, Level 4: In the 2nd room, destroy all the Bomb Blocks in your way and
get down to the big body of water at the bottom of the room. Swim right until
you see a bunch of ladders and a broom enemy. Get onto the platform there and
walk across it, then jump into the water on the other side. There, you'll see
an indent in the wall, so go as far in the indent as possible, then at the end,
push up to enter a hidden room. All you do there is hit the switch.

World 6, Level 5: In the 4th room, get the Fire ability from the enemy near the
entrance to that room, then destroy the two Bomb Blocks blocking the way
downward. Drop down there and light the fuse with the firepower, and then make
your way to the 2nd hole further right with the cannon before it blows up! If
you miss it exit the room the way you entered it and try again, but if you did
make it, just hit the switch in the room.

World 6, Level 6: In the 1st room, go right and enter the next room. Inhale and
swallow a U.F.O enemy to obtain its powers, then get back into the previous
room through the door. Fly downward and left and then charge up your attack by
holding B. Shoot the beam to destroy the ice blocks blocking the door, then
enter it and hit the switch.

World 7, Level 1: In the 1st room, get the Sword ability, then enter the 2nd
room. Get through the room until you reach 3 Waddle Dees. Defeat them, then
destroy all the blocks you can above you. Release the ability, then take the
Fireball ability, and then destroy the wall near where you destroyed the
blocks, then enter the door and hit the switch.

World 7, Level 6: This level is just like the original levels from Kirby's
Dream Land for Game Boy. When you reach the last scene, which you'll know if
you've played KDL, get to the very top of the room and instead of entering the
room, fly up to the moon. Push up right on it to enter a hidden room and drop
down to the bottom and hit the switch.

-= 6. Abilities -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Back Drop: When you have this ability, Kirby will inhale more powerfully. When
he inhales an enemy, he'll grab it and defeat it when you press any direction
on the Control Pad.

Ball: Press B to turn into a rubber ball! Press A to bounce; the longer you
hold A, the higher you bounce.

Beam: Kirby attacks by using a beam "whip" and swinging it from the air to the
ground. It has pretty good attacking range.

Crash: This ability can only be used once. When used, Kirby jumps into the air
and many other Kirbys dart around the screen, then defeats every enemy
onscreen. It helps if you have it when fighting a boss!

Cutter: Kirby throws a cutter, which flies straight ahead spinning, then
returns in the same direction it came. It doesn't come directly back to you,
though.

Fire: With this ability, Kirby shoots fireballs straight ahead at a very rapid
pace.

Fireball: Kirby shoots forward quickly as a fireball destroying any enemies in
his path!

Freeze: A sheet of ice balls surround Kirby. You can't move while using this
ability, though. When you hit an enemy, it'll turn into an ice cube, which you
can just walk into to kick it ahead.

Hammer: This is one of the best and most powerful abilities in the game! When
used, Kirby crushes whatever's in front of him with his hammer. When he jumps
and uses it, he spins the hammer around him once before he lands.

Hi-Jump: When used, Kirby jumps to the top of the screen destroying anything in
his path. You can use the Control Pad to control what direction he jumps in.

Ice: When you use this ability, Kirby shoots out ice balls, which can turn an
enemy into an ice cube on contact. It's the same move as the Fire ability,
you're just shooting ice instead!

Laser: Kirby shoots a thin laser straight ahead and destroys almost anything it
hits! When you shoot it at a sloped corner, it'll bounce and shoot in another
direction.

Light: This is another ability that can only be used once, then it disappears.
When it's used, Kirby throws something into the air and the entire room becomes
lighted. It should only be used in dark rooms; anywhere else, it'll have no
effect.

Mike: This ability can only be used three times. When used, it instantly
defeats all normal enemies, and causes some damage to bosses. The 3 microphone
attacks are different in what Kirby does. For the first attack, Kirby spits out
a megaphone. Next attack, he spits out a microphone. Last, he spits out a
microphone on a stand, then jumps on it and sings into the mike to defeat
enemies!

Needle: Spikes come out of Kirby's back when this ability is used. Hold the B
button to make the spikes last longer. Unfortunately, you can't move while
using this ability.

Parasol: Kirby wields an umbrella with this ability. He swings it in front of
him to hit anything close by. When you jump, you'll float to the ground with
the parasol! It also protects you from attacks from above.

Sleep: When you use this one-use ability, Kirby falls asleep. During that time,
he is vulnerable to all attacks. After a few seconds, he'll wake up and the
ability will disappear.

Spark: Sparks come flying out of an electrically-charged Kirby! It doesn't have
great range, but it can defeat any incoming enemies before they get near you!

Stone: Another self-explanatory ability. Kirby turns into a stone and crushes
whatever's below him.

Sword: Kirby swings the sword very quickly in front of him, then swings it
around behind him to end the move. When you use it in the air, Kirby and the
sword spin, defeating any enemies that may hit in any direction!

Throw: With this ability, whenever Kirby inhales an enemy, he grabs it. Then,
he throws it just like a star, destroying things in its path. You can also pick
the angle of the throw by using the Control Pad.

Tornado: Kirby turns into a tornado with this ability. You can control what
direction Kirby goes in with the Control Pad.

U.F.O: When you get this ability, Kirby automatically turns into a UFO! You
have 4 different levels of attacks with this ability as well. When you tap the
B button, he'll shoot a beam like the Beam ability. When you hold B and release
quickly, he'll shoot a laser like the Laser ability. If you charge up for a
second, he'll shoot a star ahead. If you hold B for a while longer and release,
Kirby will shoot a more powerful star, which you can use to break certain
walls.

Wheel: When this ability is activated, Kirby turns into an unstoppable wheel!
You can move very fast across the ground with it, and you don't stop until you
hit a wall, land on spikes, or fall down a pit. You can deactivate this move by
pressing B again.

Shelled Kany: He just walks around with a shell on him. No powers.

Shiny Knight: This guy's the same as Blade Knight, except for the looks. Sword

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Mr. Frosty
    Ability: Freeze
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: This big walrus likes to make ice cubes and throw them at you,
then charge all the way across the room and repeat. Suck in his ice cubes and
nail him with them.

Clock Work
    Ability: Mike
Hits: 2 with Stone ability or 3 without abilities
Strategy: This guy likes to charge at you and throw deadly musical notes.
Suck in the musical notes and spit them back at him and he'll eventually face
the music.

Bugzey
    Ability: Back Drop
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: This guy is very aggressive. Look out for him when he charges,
because he'll catch you in a body slam. When he releases smaller bugs, suck
them up and spew them back at him.

Shelatoss
    Ability: Throw
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: This guy is pretty easy. All you have to do is stay away from
him. Stay against the wall and run when he jumps at you. After he touches the
wall, run to the opposite wall. Inhale the tiny turtle he throws out and spit
it back at him.

Bonkers
    Ability: Hammer
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: When he slams the ground with his hammer, a star will fly out.
Inhale and spit the star at him. He'll also throw coconuts at you. Do the same
with those.

Flame Mane
    Ability: Fireball
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: This dude isn't too tough. Just avoid his attacks and you'll do
fine. When he jumps into the air, slide out of the way and inhale the star that
appears when he lands. Spit it back at him. When he turns into a fireball and
jets at you, jump!

Wheelie
    Ability: Wheel
    Hits: 3 without abilities
Strategy: This guy is pretty easy to beat. Just dodge him when he rolls
back and forth, and suck in the little Wheelies he throws at you. Spit them
back out after he's done jumping to ensure a hit.

-= 9. Bosses -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Wispy Woods
    Found In: World 1
Hits: 6 if not using abilities
Strategy: The easiest boss in all of Kirby. Basically, inhale the apples
and shoot them at him, watching for the wind. Try inhaling two at the same time
and shooting them at him.

Paint Roller
    Found In: World 2
Hits: 6 if not using abilities
Strategy: To beat this guy, inhale the paintings he makes and shoot them
back at him. What most people don't know is some of this guy's paintings give
you abilities. Here's a list of the ones I've seen:

            Car - Wheel ability
            Bomb - Crash ability
            Nose w/sparks - Spark ability
            Chair-type thing - Mike ability
            Ball - Ball ability
            Umbrella - Parasol ability

Mr. Shine and Mr. Bright
    Found In: World 3
Hits: 3 each if not using abilities
Strategy: The way this works is one will battle you while one stays in the
sky, then they'll reverse. To defeat the Sun-type guy, inhale the "meteors"
from the sky and shoot them back at him. Or, absorb one to get the Laser
ability. To defeat the Moon-type guy, inhale the "solar stars" from the sun's
rays, and shoot them back at him. If you inhale one, you get the Fireball
ability. For fun, absorb two (very easy to do) to get Mix to try to get a good
ability (I've gotten Crash and Hammer before).

Kracko
    Found In: World 4
Hits: 6 without using abilities; 8 w/Hi-Jump ability
Strategy: Normally, to defeat this guy, people inhale the Waddle Doos and
shoot them back at him. A more effective way is to use the Hi Jump to attack
him. There are a few swoops to the ledge and electric assaults, but it isn't
too bad.

Heavy Mole
    Found In: World 5
Hits: 6 without abilities or with Hammer ability
Strategy: You will need to keep up with him and his tunnel to survive.
Inhale the little guys he shoots off and shoot them at him. For better fun,
absorb the YELLOW ones of those little guys to get the Hammer ability, as
effective as star hits. DON'T absorb the RED ones, they'll put you to SLEEP,
probably killing you.

Meta Knight
    Found In: World 6
Hits: about 12 with Sword ability
Strategy: You must defeat him with the Sword ability, so you must be
aggressive. You will need to memorize his attacks and figure out good times to
slash him to pieces. This is one of the hardest battles.

King DeDeDe
    Found In: World 7
    Hits: 8-10 without using abilities
Strategy: He's back! After defeating him in other games, he's returned. He
can copy Kirby's inhaling, Hi Jump, Hammer, and sliding attacks. When he uses
Hi Jump or the Hammer, 1 or 2 stars can be inhaled and shot back at him. Also
watch out when he does his floating attack. After defeating him, the game is
over, or is it?

Nightmare Form #1
Found In: World 7 (You fight him after you defeat King DeDeDe)
Hits: a LOT with the Star Rod
Strategy: Nightmare's first form is as a sphere that shoots stars at you.
You must rapidly shoot your stars at him. You are timed here, because if you
don't hurry up and beat him, you'll get smashed between the top of the screen
and the ground. If you defeat him, jump in the star to find...

Nightmare Form #2
Found In: World 7 (You fight this form after you beat the first form,
obviously)
Hits: 6 when shooting with the Star Rod or a lot more by spin jumping with
the Star Rod
Strategy: The vampire form is quite easier than the sphere form. When his
tornado part is showing, either jump and hit him with the actual Star Rod
(doing little damage) or shoot a star at it (the major damage). Every sequence,
there is about 3-4 chances to hit him. Defeat him and peace and order will be
restored to Dream Land!

Bonus Games
-----------

As you clear the worlds in Kirby's Adventure, there are rooms that are revealed
that if you enter them, you can play a bonus game. There are 3 different bonus
games, and I'm going to give details about them below.

Crane Fever: In this bonus game, there is a couple of pink Kirby dolls
thrown into a crane machine. There's a small doll and a large doll. You have 2
chances to move the crane by holding the A button, then releasing it to lower
the crane. If you grab a small Kirby doll, you get a 1up; if you get a large
Kirby doll, you'll get a 2up!

Egg Catcher: In this game, King DeDeDe throws eggs and bombs at Kirby. Your
job is to catch all the eggs he throws in your mouth while closing your mouth
when a bomb comes. Open Kirby's mouth by holding A; close his mouth by
releasing A. If you swallow a bomb, the bonus game is automatically over and
you don't get anything. If you can last without eating bombs, you'll get lots
of bonus points, even some extra lives depending on how many eggs you
swallowed.

Quick Draw Kirby: In this game, Kirby and another character from the game
have a shootout in the desert. You'll see the word "Ready" on the screen; the
moment it says "Fire!" press the A button to shoot the opponent. If you're
quick enough, you'll shoot out the opponent and go against the next enemy. If
you press A before you're supposed to, you'll get a strike. If you get 2
strikes, you're out and the bonus game ends. You get a bunch of bonus points
and even an extra life depending on how any opponents you shoot out.

Rankings
--------

As you complete parts of Kirby's Adventure, you are given a ranking, which you
see on the file select screen next to your file. Here, I'll list what ranking
you get for beating what percentage of the game. (I don't know what you have to
do to get higher percentages; all I can say is play through the game and it'll
increase!)

    0% - Start
    1-9% - Water Drop
    10-19% - Son of Wind
    20-29% - Li'l Traveler
    30-39% - Swift Hunter
    40-49% - Star Herald
    50-59% - Dream Hunter
    60-69% - Dream Warrior
    70-79% - Star General
    80-89% - Great Ace
    90-99% - Final Star
100% - Hero of Lore/Super Star (To get the Super Star rank, you must
complete the Extra Game)

Extra Game
----------

To access the much more difficult Extra Game, which is the same as the regular
game, but you only have 3 bars on your life meter and you're unable to save,
you must have completed 100% of the regular game.

Sound Test
----------

In order to open up the sound test in Kirby's Adventure, you must complete the
Extra Game.
