A. Introduction

Hello, all. This is my first FAQ. I am tired of seeing snooze FAQs and so I decided
to write one about one of the Dreamcasts best games: Space Channel 5. For those
idiots who dont know, SC5 is a game similar to simon-says, but not so drab.
This game requires you to keep moving and hold a beat, all the while switching
buttons and directions.

THIS IS VERSION 0.5

B. Characters

The characters of Space Channel 5 are a unique and diverse group, each with their
own past that affects their future. Here they are:

ULALA (pronounced Ooh-la-la)
-----
Of course she is going to be first because she is the main character! Our hose was
rescued from a severe space accident by a SC5 reporter. Since then she has always
wanted to be a reporter, and with Fuse on the end of his rope, Ulala gets the job.

FUSE
----
Fuse is the main support character of the game, telling Ulala what to do and when to do it.
Without him, Ulala would be nothing. Fuse has had trouble in the past and he is
about to be given the pink slip (he is on his last chance). He takes his chances with Ulala.

PUDDING
-------
No, not a carton of Jell-O pudding, its Pudding of Space Channel 42. In the game Ulala will
battle her then rescue her when she is captured by the Morolians. No history available.

JAGUAR
------
Jaguar of a pirate space channel is very much against Ulala, trying to beat her to the story.
The two battle quite a bit then at the end join forces to beat Mr. Blank.

SPACE MICHAEL
See Cameos

MOROLIANS
---------
The morolians are the main bad guys in the game, trying to outdance Ulala at every turn.
They also have backup, in the form of bosses. Towards the end of the game, Ulala discovers
that they are being brainwashed by a signal coming from Space Channel 5.

COCO TAPIOCA
------------
Coco Tapioca is the first boss that Ulala will meet at the Spaceport.
She uses Morolians as a shield until they run out. RATING: **1/2

MOROLINA
--------
Morolina is the second boss you will meet. She has captured the school kids and Ulala
must save them!
RATING: ***

MOROLIAN MONROE
---------------
The duo that live in the Morolians space base. These two will be in a TV then they
will come out as Ulala challenges them further. RATING: ***3/4

EVILA
-----
Ulalas evil twin robot has a bad ego. Blank created her to replace the quickly popular Ulala.
The two of them will fight, with Evila sound like Rosie off of the Jetsons. RATING:****1/2

GIANT EVILA
-----------
Blanks battleship where you have to dance the moves out backwards! This robot has
grabbed Fuses ship and his death very possible. RATING: *****

BLANK TV
--------
Yes, you want to read about Blank himself, well keep your pants on! I am getting there!
It turns out that Blank himself is in the actual TV! Ulala is swept into this TV and
she is forced to battle Blank, while all the people that she rescued come to her aid,
providing music for the now broken sound system.
RATING: ****

Mr. or Chief BLANK
------------------
The CEO of Space Channel 5 has brainwashed the Morolians into doing his evil bidding.
Can Ulala stop him?

------------------
C. CAMEOS
------------------
Yes, there is one BAD cameo in this game. Space Michael is Michael Jackson in the future!
He appears in the last level. Can you rescue him?

----------------------------
D. WALKTHROUGH
----------------------------

Although I could go through and give you the dance steps, I wont.
They are too lengthy and time consuming to put in ASCII and type anyway.
So here is your walkthrough summary.

IF YOU WANT THE DANCE STEPS GO TO http://guides.ign.com

LEVEL 1: Spaceport
---OVERALL RATING: ** ----
---REQUIRED RATING: 15% ---

The level begins with "Hey Space Katz!" and ends with "Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!"
if you do it right. Ulala is beginning her assignment at SC5 by going to the
spaceport to cover the terrorist attck by aliens.

You go up to some Morolians right away and take off in the dancing world. Eventually a
pink box will tell you to use the B button for when the Morolians say "Chu".
Watch for it! After that you will see another box that says to push A when you you hear
"Chu" from a human. Watch for this too!

After that you go up to the roof to battle Pudding and save the rescue team.
If you successfully beat Pudding you get her guitar man!

From Pudding you go to Coco Tapioca, the boss.
She is fairly easy, just practice your timing. Dont give up!

LEVEL 2: Cruise Ship
---OVERALL RATING: *** ---
---REQUIRED RATING: 25%---
This level can be trying for those who havent mastered the rhythm of the game yet.
Keep with persistence and you will make it!

You begin with Ulalas commentary about more Morolian invasions.
From there you go to the cockpit of the ship to rescue some officers.
WATCH WHAT SHOOT BUTTON TO USE! From the officers comes the Captain. He has
been brainwashed and is being forced to dance by the Aliens.
Again, watch what shoot button to use.

From there you go to the dining room and rescue passengers. Watch that shoot button!
After that you rescue a "Space diva". Fairly easy, you just need that rhythm.
After her rescue you get to fight Jaguar from the pirate channel. He is also easy,
its just all in the timing. No real memorization needed. If you win him you get his sax man.

Out of the lunchroom to the top viewing dome. Here you see the Morolian mothership escape,
and are taunted by Jaguar. Have fun with this boss, she requires rhythm and a
bit of memorization. Most of you will fail here, if you fail this level.
Just remember you need to move with that rhythm, maybe tap a foot or something, and do quick
memorization. Do not think about the steps, just put them back in the game.

LEVEL 3: Morolians Space base.
---OVERALL RATING: **** ---
---REQUIRED RATING: 45% ---
This level requires some medium-heavy split second memorization. Just dont think about what the
steps are!

You begin in space (notice the change of clothes?) where you can freely zap anything.
The people that appear are not friendly, zap them hard! Towards the Jaguar fight,
you will be required to do some quick stuff ("Right/Shoot" "Up/Shoot" not
"Right Shoot" or "Up Shoot"). After that comes Jaguar. Again no friends here, zap em!

After you beat him you enter the base and are forced to rescue Pudding.
Did you notice that Ulala managed to change clothes AGAIN? Anyway, after rescuing
Pudding you open the door the main part of the base. Keep the rhythm!

Once in the base, you see the TV monitor that contains the boss. Have fun.
As a tip this boss tends to do doubles of the same moves ("up right, up right") or opposites
("up right, up left") and for the first half almost all the moves end with "chu chu chu".
At one point you will be forced to play the keep switching guns game. This again is where most
of you will fail. Persistence is the key.

LEVEL 4: Space Channel 5 broadcast satellite.
---OVERALL RATING: ***** ---
---REQUIRED RATING: 75% ---
This level can be a doozy! Remember to keep the rhythm and DO NOT think about the steps!
Just repeat them! You have about 1 second when fighting Giant Evila to think about the
moves. Use that 1 second to reverse the moves. Also tap your feet or something to keep
the beat. The music stops and you are forced to keep the rhythm in your head.

You begin this level by entering the room where you have been seeing the Morolians
meetings in the between level movies. Here you fight the very same morolians.
You gun has been upgraded to the "Deluxe B beam and the Deluxe A beam". The guns
will both save or kill automatically (do not alternate guns for pictures of people).
Keep the rhythm here.

After you beat them Blank will disappear and you will leave the room.
Here you rescue Space Michael! This is fairly easy. After that you go upstairs and
rescue a piano playing girl. Bon Apetite! After here you see Blank again, but he
runs off (or rather up). He leaves his cronies behind to get you. Just keep the
rhythm and eat them up!

From here comes boss one: Evila. Your evil twin will try and out-dance you.
This is easy if you have your timing down (by now you should) and are moving some
part of your body with the rhythm (you also should be doing this by now).
From here you go to Giant Evila.

This is the absolute hardest part of the game. You take what Giant Evila says
(ie "Up/shoot/shoot") and reverse it! (ie "down/shoot/shoot"). There are no
real tips for this but to think! This is the one spot where you can think about the
moves, BUT YOU MUST DO IT QUICKLY! This also becomes even tougher when you
lose the sound system. This is why I have been telling you all along to tap a foot!
Without this you are serious mush. If you can successfully take her on
(and I know all of you will fail here at least once (hey, I did)) then you get the final
showdown with Blank TV.

Blank TV is Blank in a TV. Really. Blank in a TV. Thats all. Blank. In a TV. Get over it.
He has four TVs around him at first that show different pictures of either him or Ulala.
Your Deluxe beams are broken and you must switch off between the right guns.
This can be tough, but persistence will pay off. After enough successful shots, you will
fall out of the TV and join all the people that magically came to support you (how nice).
From there its just one "Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!" and you have won...the basic levels.
You wanted me to say you were done, didnt you? Be careful, at the end of the
credits you have just one more move to pull of for your 100% rating: Up.

~~~Thats it! You have beaten the basic levels!~~~~~~
=====I will add the Extra levels in the next FAQ revision.======
