Version 1.2 (5/28/00): Here's the complete version of this guide, covering both
the SNES and Genesis versions of this game. I also used a new layout for this
FAQ for this update.

-= 2. Introduction -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo
Entertainment System and the Sega Genesis, is a rather different type of
Pac-Man game as opposed to the traditional Pac-Man games. In this game, you can
control where Pac-Man goes and what he does. This is a totally unique game and
is quite fun to play, so download/buy a copy sometime and try it out!

(Please note that there are optional items that you may find throughout the
game. I do not tell you where to find them in the walkthrough, so please use
the walkthrough in conjunction with the sections that tell where to find those
optional items to fully complete this game. This walkthrough may be used for
both versions of the game.)

Mission 1: Get Pac-Baby Milk!
-----------------------------

Pac-Baby has run out of milk and Mrs. Pac-Man asks you to go get some milk from
the farm. After leaving home, go right and exit the screen with Pac-Man's
house. Walk through the farm area and shoot the haystack above the farmer's
head so he doesn't catch you and make Pac-Man upset. Next, keep going right
until you see the empty bottle. Shoot the bottle once (do not shoot it multiple
times because you'll break the bottle) to draw his attention to it. While he's
looking up at it, shoot the crow on the wire above you and it'll swoop down and
scare you. It will also knock the bottle on the ground in front of the cow so
you can reach it. After Pac-Man calms down, he'll automatically see the bottle
and milk the cow to obtain the milk for the baby. Now direct Pac-Man back home
and shoot the door to get inside to complete the mission!

Mission 2: The Mountain Adventure
---------------------------------

Lucy's birthday is coming up and Mrs. Pac-Man sends you to the mountains to
fetch some flowers for her. She'll also give you the Lift Pass so you can use
the lift in the farm area to get there. Exit the house and go right to the next
area. Pass through the farm, again covering the farmer with hay, until you
reach the station. Shoot the sign above it and Pac-Man will go in and ride up
to the mountains. Once there, go right and shoot the sign to make it spin
around and read DANGER! When the boulder starts coming down above you shoot
Pac-Man and he'll jump to the right, getting out of harm's way. Next, shoot the
coiled up rope at the top of the screen and it will unravel. Have him look up
at the rope, then shoot him to make him jump up and climb the rope. In the new
scene, go right and you'll see a sign on how to fly the hang glider. Before you
read it, keep shooting the rock nearby until it falls off the edge of the
cliff; if you don't do that, Pac-Man will trip while taking off with the glider
and fall off the cliff! Now, shoot the glider out of the trees, and then shoot
the sign to read it. Then, he'll take off across the canyon! Watch out for the
ghosts that will attack you along the way, as well as the boulders, platforms,
and other obstacles. After you reach the other side, you'll crash and get stuck
in a tree, and Pac-Man will jump down to the ground. Go right until you reach
the patch of flowers, and walk around and get him to look at the flowers until
he takes one. That's not the end of the mission yet, you still have to get back
home! To do that, go left and shoot the raveled up vines you come across in the
trees until a hole opens up in the ground. When he looks at the hole, a rabbit
will kick you into the hole, but you'll land right next to the station! Shoot
the sign again to get back to the farm, then just continue on home to complete
Mission 2!

Mission 3: Adventures in the Big City
-------------------------------------

The ghosts have come and stole Junior's guitar, then fled to the city. Mrs.
Pac-Man will give you the Train Pass to get into the city. Exit the house and
go right again, all the way past the Lift Station. Pass the hot dog stand and
you'll find the Train Station. Shoot the sign above the station to go into the
city. Once there, go left until you reach a broken fire hydrant. Pac-Man will
try and fix it but it won't help. Keep telling him to look at the hydrant until
he gets upset and wraps it up with tape! Upon doing that, the sewer cap will
blow skyhigh revealing an empty hole. Have him walk over towards it, but before
he reaches the hole, shoot him to make him jump to the right. If your timing is
right, he'll fall into the sewer! Go right until you reach the ladder, then
make him look up it and he'll probably climb it. (You can also try shooting the
ladder to grab his attention.) Now you're in the secret factory. Go right,
making your way through the factory until you reach the laboratory. Go through
there too and pass the 5 numbered doors. (Remember where the doors are; you'll
be coming back here later.) After you pass that area, you'll end up outside
again. Go right one screen, then come back to where you just were. There should
be a guard standing there. Shoot at his face until he walks to the right. Keep
shooting his face until he turns into the 3 ghosts! Become Super Pac-Man and
defeat the ghosts to get the guitar back. Now, go right until you reach the
Train Station again and shoot the sign to ride back into the village area. Now,
go left all the way back home to complete Mission 3!

Mission 4: The Final Confrontation
----------------------------------

The ghosts have come again and stole all the gum from the city's children. Now,
it's up to Pac-Man to get the supply of gum back! To complete this mission, you
MUST have all 3 ID cards, which you get from defeating the ghosts in certain
areas of the game. Read the Items section of this FAQ for information on
finding those ID cards. Go back to the city, and get through the sewers to the
factory. Go through the factory and laboratory until you reach the numbered
doors again. Make him look up when he's in front of the doors and he'll walk up
to them with his cards. Shoot the slots in this order: 4 1 5. The doors should
open and you'll walk in. Now you're in the room where you fight the Gum
Monster. It'll emerge from the pool of gum in middle of the room. Maneuver
around the room, shooting at its face while avoiding its arms. You can tell if
it's getting weak if it's flashing or not, but it's always growing so you have
to shoot it back into the pool as quickly as you can! When it's completely
swallowed up by the pool, you've just completed Mission 4 and beat the game!

-= 5. Items -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

ID Cards: They're used to get into the final mission. You can only get them by
defeating the Ghosts at various locations throughout the game. Here
are the locations of all three ID cards:

    1. Defeat the ghosts to the right of the train station by shooting the
garbage pail with eyes to get one.

    2. In the city, defeat the ghosts to the right of the broken hydrant by
shooting the trashcan with eyes to get another card.

    3. Defeat the ghosts that took Junior's guitar to get the last one.

Cartridge Pieces: These cartridge pieces are scattered around, and when you
find all 3, you can play Ms. Pac-Man (SNES version) or Pac
Jr. (Genesis version) in an arcade in town. They aren't
needed for you to complete the game, but it's just a side-
quest! Here are the locations of all three pieces of the
                  cartridges:

    1. Go to Lucy's house when you're in a good mood and help her move the
couch. Under the couch is a Cartridge Piece, and she'll let you have it
       because you helped her!

    2. After the Mine Cart ride, go right and shoot the boxes so Pac-Man opens
them. Keep doing that until he finds the next Piece.

    3. In the city, shoot the balloon stand and the man will get angry and
fill you with helium so you start floating upward! When you're above
the buildings, some birds will hit you, making you land on the rooftop.
Go right, look up at the hook, and then shoot him so he jumps and grabs
onto it. It'll start moving towards the right quickly. Shoot him again
when he's above the roof with the 3 garbage pails to land on that roof.
Then, check out the pails until you find the piece.

Power Pellets: You use these to become Super Pac-Man. They grow on a tree to
the left of your house, but you can only carry 3 at a time. You
can also find them around the world by just exploring and
shooting suspicious things. You must be Super Pac-Man in order
to defeat the Ghosts throughout the game.

Lift Pass: This pass allows you to go on the lift leading into the mountains.
You get it from Mrs. Pac-Man when you start Mission 2.

Train Pass: This allows you to ride the train in and out of the city. You get
it from Mrs. Pac-Man when you start Mission 3.

-= 6. Secrets/Tips and Tricks -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Eating the Hot Dog at the Stand
-------------------------------

To actually eat the hot dog, when the cat starts running towards you, shoot it.
It'll run away scared and upset and Pac-Man will get to eat! If you don't shoot
the cat, it'll take the hot dog and you'll get upset!

Free Power Pellets
------------------

When you play in any arcade and get a high score (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places),
and when you shoot the big beakers in the laboratory, you'll get a free Power
Pellet. You can also get free Power Pellets by shooting the tree to the left of
Pac-Man's House.

Mood Boosting
-------------

There are many ways to make Pac-Man happier when he's upset or frustrated. When
he eats food, holds a balloon, completes a mission, collects an important item,
wins at the arcade, or when he plays music in the store in the city, it boosts
his mood, making it easier to control him!

Mine Cart Rides
---------------

To go for a mine cart ride when you go up to the mountains, Go right past the
rope and the water. Make him jump from platform to platform across the gap,
then read the sign to learn how to ride. Then, jump in and enjoy the ride!
(Note: Just shoot the ghosts when they come to avoid any danger!)
