---------------------------INTRODUCTION/HISTORY----------------------------

Version 1.01(8/1/00): This is proof of how lazy I am =P. FAQ-wide update, some
tidying up.

Version 1.0(1/21/00): OK, so it isn't the first FAQ on Spyro 2. But I said I
would do one, and this is it. Highly incomplete, as are all the first versions
of my FAQs. Please DO NOT e-mail me with any questions about certain parts of
levels. I will attempt to update this as close to daily as I can. I still
have that Super Mario All Stars one to work on...

In this version I have included some basics (Story/Controls), the strategies
for the first two bosses (Crush and Gulp), and a list of the Skill Points in
the Codes/Tricks section, as well as how to get the Superflame ability.

-----------------------------------STORY-----------------------------------

Spyro the Dragon and Sparx the Dragonfly are looking forward to a relaxing
vacation at Dragon Shores. They're going to rest up from their victory over
Gnasty Gnorc in their first adventure. But fate is about to give their travel
plans a big, ugly tweak.

In the worlds of Avalar, a dinosaur-riding, trouble-maker named Ripto is making
life miserable with his magical spells. Statues are coming to life and
attacking their makers. Monsters are messing up electrical systems. Eskimos
are being turned into ice cubes and fish are running out of water!

The folks in Avalar have to come up with a plan, quick! They decide that a
dragon is what they need to defeat Ripto and his gang. One of the defenders,
the Professor, has created magical orbs that will snatch a dragon out of
another world and shoot it through a portal to Avalar. Just as Spyro and Sparx
leave for their trip, the Professor revs up the orbs.

In the blink of a gnorc's eye, it's "Good-bye, Dragon Shores," and "Hello
Avalar!" as Spyro and Sparx tumble through a portal and into an alien universe.
 If they ever want to take their beach vacation, Spyro and Sparx have to help
get rid of this raging Ripto. It's enough to make a dragon spit fire!

Spyro never passes up a challenge or the chance to toast a few enemies-and
there are plenty of both her. The vast worlds of Avalar contain beautiful
mountains, bubbling lava flows and gem-filled lakes. The local folks seem
pretty nice too...weird-but nice. But some of the scariest creatures ever seen
live here and that's by dragon standards! Will Spyro ever get back to his
world?  It's a snap if you're a dragon.

So fire up the breath burners and rev up your headbash. Ripto is about to see
what happens when a dragon leads the attack.

------------------------------------FAQ------------------------------------

--------------------------------WALKTHROUGH--------------------------------

----------------------------------BOSSES-----------------------------------

===========================================================================
CRUSH
===========================================================================
Location: Crush's Dungeon (Summer Forest)
Difficulty: Easy
Hit Points: 7
Strategy:
Your first boss battle is against Crush, that large club-weilding guy. As hard
as he looks, he's really easy. At the beginning, he'll walk onto one of the
colored pads on the floor (which are all blue right now). When he does, he'll
jump, and a blue ring of energy will come towards you. He'll do that twice,
then move to the next pad. The trick is to torch him while he's walking from
pad to pad. If you do torch him, run away QUICKLY, because when he pounds his
club twice, rocks will fall on him and he'll lose a hit point. After two hits,
the pads will change to red. Now, when he jumps and lands, he'll shoot a
fireball your way, which you only have to go left or right to dodge it. He'll
do that twice, then walk to another pad. Hit him as you did before. After
four hits, the pads will be mixed between red and blue. When he attacks this
time, he'll attack twice as fast and four of whatever will shoot. This time
when you flame him, he'll start chasing you. You need to quickly run from him,
because eventually he'll stop, pound his club once, and the rocks will fall.
He'll finally fall after seven hits.

===========================================================================
GULP
===========================================================================
Location: Gulp's Overlook (Autumn Plains)
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Hit Points: 10
Strategy:
Wow, what a complete turnaround one world makes. We go from the weak Crush to
the strong Gulp. He's harder than he looks. When the battle starts out, he'll
run toward you and try to give you a body slam. Just run to avoid it. Soon,
birds will appear and start to throw down eggs. Keep dodging his slams until
one of them hatches, revealing a barrel. Use a charge to knock one toward him
and hopefully hit him. After one hit, his attack pattern will change. This
time, he'll stand in the middle, then he'll shoot green plasma shots at you.
When they land, they will spread out a little bit, and last until the next one
is about to hit, so you need to be careful when you run away from them. This
time, the eggs will hatch into bombs, so torch one toward him and watch it blow
up. After that hit, he'll now mix up his slams and shots. This time, you'll
have rockets to work with. Swallow one, use the /\ button to aim if you need
to, and shoot it at him. After that, it gets harder, as both your ammunition
and Gulp's attacks are now random. At this point, Gulp will not only be
shooting four green plasma shots per attack, but he'll be able to use your ammo
against you. If he swallows a barrel, he'll spit a ring of green acid toward
you. Just jump to dodge it. If he swallows a bomb, he'll blow a ring of
fireballs toward you. Jump in one of the holes in the ring to dodge it. If he
swallows a rocket, he'll shoot off a heat-seeking (to my knowledge) rocket that
will head right for you. If he swallows a chicken that comes by, he'll
regenerate a hit point. Keep using the same strategy to hit him. After a
while, he'll start shooting six plasma shots at you. To try to avoid being
stuck in a small space, lure him to one end of the arena and dash toward the
other end before his attack starts. Finally, the mighty might will fall after
ten direct hits.

===========================================================================
SKILL POINTS
===========================================================================

After defeating Ripto, a new page will appear in the Guidebook after Winter
Tundra. This page records your Skill Points, specific things in the game that
test your playing ability. Here's a list:

The strategies for them will be posted as that point of the Walkthrough is
complete.

===========================================================================
Level: Skelos Badlands
Skill Point: All Cacti
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Hurricos
Skill Point: All Windmills
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Colossus
Skill Point: Perfect in Hockey
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Fracture Hills
Skill Point: 3 Laps of Supercharge
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Crush's Dungeon
Skill Point: Perfect
Strategy: This is an easy one to get. All you have to do is defeat Crush
without getting hit.
===========================================================================
Level: Gulp's Overlook
Skill Point: Perfect
Strategy: This one is a LOT harder to get than the one on Crush's Dungeon.
Again, you must win without getting hit, but this time it won't be easy. I
HIGHLY suggest waiting until you get the Superflame ability because it's really
easy using that.
===========================================================================
Level: Ripto's Arena
Skill Point: Perfect
Strategy: The hardest of the three Perfects to get, you have to defeat all 3 of
Ripto's phases without getting hit to get this. Getting the Superflame makes
the first two phases MUCH easier. The third is the same, though,
===========================================================================
Level: Scorch
Skill Point: All Trees
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Ocean Speedway
Skill Point: Under 1:10

Skill Point: All Seaweed
Strategy:
===========================================================================
Level: Gulp's Overlook
Skill Point: Hit Ripto
Strategy: The object of this one is to pick up a rocket and hit Ripto with it.
It's not as easy as it looks. You have to watch out for Gulp while doing this.
===========================================================================
Level: Skelos Badlands
Skill Point: Catbat Quartet
Strategy:
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
SUPERFLAME ABILITY
===========================================================================

When you have amassed 10,000 Gems and 64 Orbs, go back to Dragon Shores and
enter the door with that on it. You'll get the permanent Superflame ability
for your reward. This will help out when going for the Skill Points.
