1)Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Magus' Seiken Densetsu 3 walkthrough. This is a excellent game
and is probably Squaresoft's best SNES RPG. To all of you English/
American/Australian people, this is Secret of Mana 2. In this game you
can pick three characters out of six to make up your party, and each
character has their own storyline.

2) Class Change System
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it's the fabled class change system which has made this game
quite big in the RPG world. All it is is a different way of gaining
levels, or if you like, a more interesting way. Each character can go
to the Dark or Light side, and you get to have two class changes in
the game. One at level 18 and the other at level 38. Before I go deeper,
I will also point out the different level gaining system.

Every time you level up, you will be presented with a menu to level up
different attributes of yourself. This is what each attribute does:

Strength - Increases your Attack Power and damage done by Tech Attacks.

Agility - Increases your ability to dodge enemies' attacks.

Vitality - Enemies' attacks do less damage, and your HP increases.

Intelligence - Becomes easier to avoid enemies' attack magic, and
lowers the damage dealt to you.

Spirit - Indirect magic's (i.e. recovery magic or sabers) effectiveness
increases.

Luck - Chances of a critical hit become greater; there are also
less traps in the item roulette when you have a higher Luck rating

I would level my Intelligence, Agility and Vitality more than the others
(maybe apart from Attack) so that I can cast more spells and have more
life, but if you have Angela or Carlie it is quite wise to upgrade your
Attack unless you want to depend on just spells. (I doubt you do)

Now for more explanation on class changes:
Your character can go through two stages of class change, to either go to
the Light or Dark, and then again to the Light or Dark. Here, look at
this:

	     	         1st 2nd
      	         Class Class
	               Change Change

                            Light-Light
                           /
	                    /
	               Light
	              / \
	             / \
                  / Light-Dark
	           /
	          /
	    Normal
	          \
	           \ Dark-Light
	            \ /
	             \ /
                    \ /
                   Dark
                        \
                         \
                          \
                           Dark-Dark

Get it? Now I will give you a brief description on each character's
classes: (a * means the tech hits all enemies)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Duran
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Duran is an OK character. He has quite a high one hit Attack power,
but takes ages to recover from each hit. He learns a few saber and
healing spells, but the healing classes are less favorable. Honestly,
if you want to do his quest, pick Angela as she is a better character
than Duran. Way better.

Fighter (Neutral)
His tech is the Cross Slash.

Knight-(Light)
Learns Heal Light and gets the ability to carry a shield. Lower power
than the Gladiator. Nothing much new.

Tech=3 Step Cut

Paladin (Light Light)
Duran's 2nd best class, gets Saint Saber, Heal Light, best shield and
good fullscreen power attack. His best Light class.

Tech=*Flashing Sword

Lord (Light Dark)
Sucks. Heal Light, Tinkle Rain and a low Attack power. Only good if
you don't already have a healer in your group, as he can multitarget
Heal Light.

Tech=Magic Circle

Gladiator (Dark)
Cool. Learns all elemental sabers, has good Attack power, but no
shield. None of his Dark classes gets a shield. A good starter, and
can at times come in really handy.

Tech=*Whirlwind Sword

Duelist (Dark Dark)
Kinda good, most powerful warrior but useless (almost) Dark Saber
spell. Is quite good but Swordmaster is better.

Tech=*Eruption Sword

Swordmaster (Dark Light)
Best class, learns Moon and Leaf Saber, but doesn't have an extremely
high Attack power. Bad thing is that he can't cast both of the Moon
and Leaf Sabers on one person. The best class for Duran.

Tech=*Vacuum Sword
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela
---------------------------------------------------------------------
A very powerful magician who may have a low Attack power, but her magic
spells make up for it. Learns five magic spells before her first
class change, and when she changes she gets even more powerful spells
than before.

Magician (Neutral)
Tech=Double Attack

Sorceress (Light)
Better than the Delvar as she learns more magic earlier, but crappy
Attack power. Uh, generally stay away from the Light side for her.

Tech=Pink Typhoon

Grand Deviner (Light Light)
Well, she can multitarget spells, but they're weak, and the Double
Spell is slow. Plus, weak attack power. Go for the Arch Mage instead.

Tech=Spiral Rod

Arch Mage (Light Dark)
The Deviner with different spells, and still sucks with attacks. But
better, marginally, as I think Rainbow (the spell) is better.

Tech=Dancing Rod

Delvar (Dark)
Quite useful with a good Attack power, but only learns one extra
spell (Dark Force). Get this class if this is your first couple times
through the game, OK?

Tech=Star Attack

Magus (Dark Dark)
Most powerful magic user with Ancient and plenty other ones, but slow
casting. Is still a good choice, and can do some serious damage.

Tech=Hot Shot

Rune Master (Dark Light)
Best class, no questions asked. Has a cool Death Spell, only bad thing
is that she can't multitarget some of her good spells. Still, the only
class with Level 3 spells, this is the way to go with Angela.

Tech=10t

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Definitely the best fighter in the game, and can also heal your party.
At night he transforms into a werewolf which makes him more powerful
than he is in the day. He also has more than one tech attack per class,
which is cool. A very good choice.

Grappler (Neutral)

Tech=Ashura Dream Fist

Monk (Light)
His first Light class gets a heal spell and a spell which makes him
powerful through day. Good power attacks, but normal Attack power is
lower than his Dark counterpart.

Tech=*Whirlwind Kick, Tornado Throw

God Hand (Light Light)
The God Hand's attacks are pretty powerful, and he has quite a few good
spells. Make that one, Aura Wave. Still not the best Light class.

Tech=*Byakko Shockwave, Stardust Bomb

Warrior Monk (Light Dark)
Definitely Kevin's best class, although he doesn't hit as hard as the
others. He gains the cool Leaf Saber and the ability to multitarget Heal
Light. Go with this one. Definitely.

Tech=Genbu 100-Kick, Blow Impact

Bashkar (Dark)
No spells, but excellent Attack power.

Tech=*Water-Moon Slice, Bastard Slam

Dervish (Dark Dark)
Second strongest class, learns Moon Saber and has a good Attack power.
But not as powerful as the Death Hand.

Tech=*Suzaku Sky Dance, Veritubach

Death Hand (Dark Light)
A brilliant class, though not the best. Best fighter, learns Energy
Ball and becomes the strongest wolf at night. Best of the Dark.

Tech=*Seiryuu Death Fist, Dead Crush

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Charlotte/Carlie
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Two names? Yeah, from what I've heard. Anyway, she is the best healer
in the game and can also double as a good Dark magic user. A fun
character, she learns Heal Light and Tinkle Rain before her first
class change.

Cleric (Neutral)
Tech=Bonkle

Priestess (Light)
Learns four elemental sabers, holy ball and the ability to multitarget
Heal Light. She doesn't have much of a high Attack power, but is a
better choice than the Enchantress.

Tech=Jump

Bishop (Light Light)
If you pick her as your main character, this is the class to go, as
the Turn Undead spell is very effective on the last bosses. She also
gets Saint Saber and more fun spells, at the cost of low Attack power.

Tech=Chopchop

Sage (Light Dark)
Pretty much sucks. She is just an improvement over the Priestess by
getting multitarget on all her spells. Don't choose this.

Tech=BoomBoom

Enchantress (Dark)
Two weak summons, (Unicorn and Golem) although her later classes are
better. She has pretty good Attack power, though.

Tech=Dash

Evil Shaman (Dark Dark)
Gets some pretty cool summons, and a whole slew of fun spells, with
the best Attack power of any of her classes. But she doesn't really
have any good things.

Tech=HugeHuge

Necromancer (Dark Light)
Her best class if you aren't the main character. Gets the Black Curse,
(lowers enemies' stats, ALL of them[Strength, Speed, etc.]) cool
multitarget healing spells, and some other crappy spells. A good
choice, if not the best.

Tech=Craaaazy

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hawkeye/Hawk
---------------------------------------------------------------------
An awesome character, who is many people's favorite. (Mine, too) He can
attack twice in one swing, learns very good spells, and has the most
variety of any character in the game.

Thief (Neutral)

Tech=Backslash

Ranger (Light)
Gets a fullscreen tech, and a few weak traps. He isn't very powerful,
but his final classes make up for it majorly.

Tech=*Flying Swallow Toss

Wanderer (Light Light)
Not much Attack/magic power, but gets heaps of caning spells like
Transhape that makes you invincible for a while. Overall an OK choice.

Tech=Dance of Roses

Rogue (Light Dark)
Many different skills make this class a favorite. Good Attack power, but
some of his cool spells are weak. Still the best Light class.

Tech=Thousand Slice

Ninja (Dark)
Better in Attack than the Ranger, and has a few cool ninjitsu attacks,
which lower stats as well as deal damage.
(Note: [Thanks to Uhhhhh.....] You need to have Hawk's Agility at 14 or
15 to learn his first ninjutsu spell, Shuriken)

Tech=Silhouette Slice

Nightblade (Dark Dark)
My favorite Hawk class as he gets heaps of cool jitsu style attacks, a
great tech and he looks pretty damn cool.

Tech=*Split-Image Slice

Ninja Master (Dark Light)
Gains no more skills over the Ninja, but he can multitarget spells,
throw multiple Shurikens and has the highest Attack power. I still
like Nightblade better though.

Tech=Shadow Dive
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lise/Riesz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Another two named character! Good at fighting and has some pretty cool
stat changing magic. Pick Light, she can upgrade your stats, and Dark,
she can lower the enemies.

Amazoness (Neutral)

Tech=Whirlwind Lance

Valkyrie (Light)
Learns some stat-up spells, but she can't multitarget them. Rune Maiden
is a better choice, but her later classes make up for this. A good note
is that she has a full-screen tech.

Tech=*Vacuum Surge Spear

Vanadies (Light Light)
A CRAPPY class. Only good thing is her awesome fullscreen Attack,
but all her spells are pretty lame.

Tech=*Light Shot Spear

Star Lancer (Light Dark)
A very impressive class with probably the best summon in the game. She
can also multi-target her spells. Only bad thing is that she doesn't
have a full-screen tech. This is her best class.

Tech=Falling Star

Rune Maiden (Dark)
Better than Valkyrie, but only just. Good spells, attacks, and nothing
bad, except that pinch of evil in her......^_^......

Tech=*Flying Heaven Spear

Fenrir Knight (Dark Dark)
Best Dark class, and has some very good stat-down spells as well as a
cool summon.

Tech=Hundred Flower Dance

Dragon Master (Dark Light)
Pretty much sucks, and nothing much is good here. Pretty much Vanadies
in her Dark form.

Tech=Dragontooth Spear

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Techs
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From DarkLavos:

1) All of Kevins Classes (except for his first) have throw techs. These are:

Monk - Tornado Throw
Bashkar (Berserker) - Bastard Slam
God's Hand -Stardust Bomb
Warrior Monk - Blow Impact
Dervish - Veritubach
Death Hand - Dead Crush

2) If I'm giving you his throw Techs, I may as well give you all the others
as you don't have a section on it ! My names are from a translated Rom
version. Also noted are 1 and All person techs. These are just dumped
straight off of my guide to the game. I have also got Gifs of all the
characters for each class if you want any.

To do your second class change, wait until you have discovered Pedan
and are heading to your final destination. In Pedan, level up to 38,
then go to the Jungle of Illusion. Wait until night, and fight the
Boulder enemies (purple balls with one eye). You will receive a
treasure chest after that, most likely containing a ???? seed. Get
6-10, and head to the Pedan Inn nearby. Plant them in the chest inside
the Inn, and you will receive a class change item. These are the items
and respective classes:

Now that you have gotten the items, head to the Holyland, and back to
where the two golden goddesses are. Head up to the white goddess, talk
to it and use your item. Ta-da! Your final class change.

*NOTE*
You've gotta take the class change item out of storage first, duh!
To do this, hit START, and the storage menu will come up. Exchange your
class change item with another item that you don't need in your item ring,
and then you can use it at the goddess. Ok?

Whatever path you take is up to you. This is just a guide!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
3)Stats
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Strength - Increases your Attack Power and damage done by Tech Attacks.

Agility - Increases your ability to dodge enemies' attacks.

Vitality - Enemies' attacks do less damage, and your HP increases.

Intelligence - Becomes easier to avoid enemies' attack magic, and
lowers the damage dealt to you.

Spirit - Indirect magic's (i.e. recovery magic or sabers) effectiveness
increases.

Luck - Chances of a critical hit become greater; there are also
less traps in the item roulette when you have a higher Luck rating.

So whenever you level up, you can choose from one of these six stats
to updgrade. Here's a list of how high your stats can go up to for
each class. I've had heaps of emails about this, and from an extensive
period of testing, I've come up with this.

5)Storage System
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have more than 9 of one item or your item ring is full, the
leftovers go into storage. You can only have 10 different items in
your ring at a time, and nine of each of those items with you, for a
total of 90 items you can carry at once.

Hit START to enter storage. The left column is the item ring, the right
is your storage. To exchange, select the one on the left to the one you
want to exchange to on the right. To restock just select the one on the
left, and the item with the same name on the right.

This is what I will mean by restock, or when you are going for your
second class change, etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
6) Tips
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, here are some useful tips that some people might find useful.

-When the attack gauge at the bottom of your screen turns green, press
B to do a special attack.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-When you are in one person's item/magic menu, press L or R to access
another's menu. (Learn this! It's critical for you to beat bosses such
as Dolan, Danguard, etc. etc.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-You can plug in another controller (maybe two with an emulator or a
multitap)
and press START to gain control of the other character. (From Uhhhhh....
Kinda fun if you have a sibling saying that "I wanna play!" Hehehe.
Magus: NOT! THEY ARE SO ANNOYING!!! Siblings, that is. Uhhhhh.....: N/K! [No
kidding])
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-To change how your other characters attack, or your tech level, go to
the main menu and press left to go to the action grid.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-To use seeds, go to an Inn and stand next to the block/pot and press
A. Plant a seed and you will get an item. This is what you should do
when you have collected the ???? seeds for your final class change.
Once you have done your final change, the ???? seed ITEMS (not the
seed, but the items from the seed) can also be used in battle for a
free spell, like Saint Beam.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-Some suggested groups (and avoidable ones)

Angela, Kevin, Riesz

This works really well if you have Riesz as the Fenrir Knight and
Angie as the Rune Master, as Riesz can lower their stats for Angie to
kill 'em. Kevin of course can whoop some ass while healing.

Hawkeye, Kevin, Riesz
Having the three best attackers is quite a good prospect, especially
if one can heal. Kevin as the God Hand is good (he can cast Aura Wave)
and Hawkeye as either the Rogue or Nightblade would kick ass. Riesz
as the Star Lancer again will work well, raising stats and casting
Marduk.

Duran, Angela, Carlie
Could you get any worse? It's better in some classes, but avoid the
Light for Duran and Angela, and the Sage for Carlie. You don't want
those classes, as they suck bad. Attack isn't that good, apart from
Duran but he is slow. Healing should be fine as well as offensive
spells, but apart from that, it's not that good. The best classes in
this crappy team would be Rune Master, Sword Master, and
Bishop/Necromancer.

Duran, Carlie, Riesz
Fairly mediocre, but with Duran as Sword Master, Carlie as Bishop
and Riesz as Star Lancer (AGAIN?????), this works quite well. Sword
Master can cast those offensive saber spells, Carlie can heal while
Riesz can up the stats as well as cast some good spells.

Hawkeye, Duran, Carlie
Variety is the key. With Duran as Sword Master, he can use those
awesome saber spells. Carlie as the Necromancer can heal and kill,
while Hawk as the Wanderer can use cool spells (like Aura Wave).
Variety, variety, variety.

Hawkeye, Angela, Carlie
This group is the one I used, and it didn't fail me. Hawk as
Nightblade, Carlie as Bishop and Angela as Rune Master rocked. Hawk
was extremely useful with his ninjitsu, and his attack/tech power
(SPLIT-IMAGE SLICE ROCKS!), Carlie had most of the good sabers and
healing, while Angela had the power spells. An excellent group.
(IMHO, probably the best if you are going through the game for the
first time)

From Pokem10065

Kevin-Death Hand
Angela-Grand Diviner
Carlie-Bishop

From Luba

ok this one is a kickass combo i tried it and it worked beautifully
start with liese or angela have carlie third character
liese-star lancer or fenrir knight (depending on carlie)
angela-rune master
carlie-bishop or necromancer

if u pick bishop, go with fenrir knight (stat down)
if u pick necromancer, go with star lancer (stat down AND stat up)

i went with necromancer and star lancer, better summon and black curse
(all stats down oh yeah) and u get stat up with star lancer

if u go with bishop and fenrir knight, its not as good except for
liese's attack power

this is the way to go if u want to be dependent on magic it has the best
magic users and u get sabres, healing and superspells

By the way, if you pick Carlie as your third character, you get three
people to beat the first boss with. Since you meet her on your way
through the Cave Of Waterfalls, and you will already have your two
characters, you get three to play with! Pretty cool.

-These tips sent in by David

The first one is, you *can* exchange armor, weapons, etc. between
characters in the game, hit menu, and trade weapons in the top-center
menu screen. The second one is, against the Dryad Mana Beast, (Mispolm)
sometimes one of the 2 pumpkin heads will try and bite one of your
characters. If you quickly switch control to the targeted character,
you can walk around in circles forever, while your other 2 characters
pound on the boss! He won't attack while you do this!!

Thanks for the tips David! And don't forget, all of you out there can
send in your tips too!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-These tips sent in by Howard Shen

When planting weapon/armor seeds, there's no reason to change front
characters. To exchange equipment, just go to the menu by pressing Y,
press up to go to the INV option and hit A. You can now move weapons,
armor, helmets, rings and shields between characters.
For the ???? seeds, sometimes no matter how many times you reset it,
it will always give you the same thing. The key is to get a bunch of
seeds, 5 is a good number. Just take the first item, and sometimes
the second item is something you might want. The more seeds you have,
the more you can plant at once. They'll usually go through a cycle.
(Uhhhhh.....'s Note: If you just can't seem to
get what you want, keep getting more seeds and planting them. You'll
eventually hit on the right ones)

Hi, I read your walkthrough for Seiken Densetsu 3 and I thought I'd
tell you a Strategy for beating the Dark-Shine Knight. When you fight
him, try to get yourself on one side of one of the pillars in the room
and the Dark-Shine Knight on the other. This way, the Dark-Shine Knight
can't reach you. If you play it on an emulator (which I think you are
because I don't think there is a cartridge for Seiken Densetsu 3)
(Magus' Note: Bzzt! Wrong! There's just no English translated cartridge)
you can manipulate what the Dark-Shine Knight does by using save
states(ZSNES). so you can hit him with spells and get no
counter-attacks.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-Tips sent in by Pokem100065

The Archdemon (Hawk/Lise's final boss) is vulnerable to Water and
Holy/Light.

-Just wanted to say that Angela as a Grand Diviner has the ability to
multitarget all her spells and Double spell is a spell that does
major damage.

-Hey again. Just have some more tips for beating the Dark Lich. What
ever you do don't cast Leaf Saber(not sure about Moon) because after
he changes his element he can turn the Leaf Saber on you so instead
of sapping his MP he will sap yours. Also he has a spell that is more
powerful than Ancient. I have no idea what is the name but when he casts
it, it looks like a galaxy and you are caught in a meteor shower!!!! That
spell nearly killed my party.

(Magus: I reckon that's the Ancient spell though)

-Hey again! For one of the groups you should try the all girl or all
boy teams. Lise, Angela and Carlie would be good if Lise was a Star
Lancer, Angela a Grand Diviner(multitarget Saint Beam is very nice)
and Carlie a Bishop.

Duran, Kevin, and Hawk would be good (theoretically) if Duran was a
Swordmaster, Kevin a Warrior Monk and Hawk a Nightblade.

(Magus' Note: Why didn't I meet this guy sooner? He should be
writing this FAQ/Walkthrough up. :-) )
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-Tips sent in by Xerain
I just ran into something really cool in the Moon Reading Tower. One
of the enemies (I think it was Beast Master) summoned a black wolf
(the regular kind, not a werewolf) whose name escapes me. When I killed
it it left behind a Weapon/Armor seed in a chest. I left the tower and
planted the seed and got a lance for Riesz as a Rune Maiden called the
Flame Pierce, or something (I could look it up). I knew that there was
equipment for level 1 classes, but I heard it was pointless because by
the time you start getting the seeds, you're already eligible for 2nd
class. But I'm only on my fourth God-Beast, so it seems there is a use
for level 1 equipment after all. I'm going to going to try to get some
more before I fight Dolan (Who is one of my favourite bosses [No, I'm not
British or Canadian, I just use that spelling sometimes {Are these
parenthetical notes annoying you yet? I'll try to keep it down from
herein <But I think I'm almost done, so it doesn't really matter>}]).
Basically what I'm saying is Riesz has 239 for attack, and I've still
got 5 levels to go for my class change. So it might be worth noting this
as a good area to get some weapons. While I'm going, I might as well add
a good trick for treasure chests: If you're using ZSNES, save state before
opening. If you don't like what you get, load. You can use this trick to
stock up on rare magical items. (Great for getting Weapon/Armor seeds, and
the ???? seeds) You can also use this on the level up screen to determine
what stat needs to be raised to learn the next skill.
I'm rambling. I'll stop, now. I mean it. If you read this last sentence, it
won't tell you anything.

-The proper Name of the Lance is Blaze Piercer. The name of the Wolf is
Kerebos, or something. It also appears in Hawk/Riesz's final area. It's
essentially the Heck Hound from Secret of Mana. There is an entire set of
equipment for 1st class characters, but I didn't get anymore. And the
Dark Prince did NOT take 2 hours. And I was only level 49. I don't think he
lasted more than 45 minutes. I had more trouble with the Mana Beast the
first
time I fought it (I didn't know that Popoi and Purim BOTH needed to cast
Mana Magic, so I didn't really stand a chance). The 2nd time I fought it
took
me forever, I still didn't know how to use Mana Magic properly, but I had
leveled up a whole bunch. But I won eventually, without Mana Magic. I
finally
found out by accident, and now I can kill it in under 5 minutes, seriously.
Now to work on my Angela, Riesz, Duran file. This is a pretty bad party
choice, but I think I can save it if I up Duran's Spirit a whole bunch.

(Magus' note: That's exactly the same party I
picked at first, but you shouldn't have any real problem if you've got them
as Paladin, Rune Master and Star Lancer. [Uhhhhh.....: That was my first
choice
also.....])

But watching Angela tease Duran kind of makes up for it. "Duran: This is my
house. I vowed never to return until I have defeated the Red Wizard.

Angela: Oh, that's too bad, I really wanted to see your room... But I can
understand if you've got something to hide, like your porn collection, or
something."

(Duran gets steaming mad and says "Oh, shut up!")

(Magus: You should see their ending :-) )

Later when I visited his house without him in my party I found an empty
Treasure Chest in his room... (Uhhhhh.....: Must have been his porn
collection :-) ) Oh, and I've always wanted to do an FAQ, but
I know I'd never finish it. So, I'd rather just contribute.

Also from "Gorilla Guy Gweedo"
I told you I'd let you know if my friend found something. Well, he did.
And I didn't believe him until I tried it. When the characters are
sleeping at the inn, you can use ZSNES to disable one of the bitmap
layers. (Press 1) This will let you see their underwear. Seriously. I'll
even send proof. Kevin and Carlie pretty much sleep in their clothes, but
Angela and Riesz are in their underwear. Duran has boxers on, and I've
heard Hawk has a loin cloth on (I can't confirm this yet).

Send an email to shinra9@yahoo.com if you want to see the proof!!!

From Gold Chocobo:
Hey, I've been visiting your web page for the past two months (since
I'm a die-hard SoM3 fan) Here are a Few things I found that you didn't list.

1) There are actually merchants on the Ghost Ship. You kill all the
baddies in a room and a "zombie" will appear whispering "welcome~~".
Truth is though, there's really no need to buy from him since the
weapons you get at the village of Dark Priest are better anyway.
(Magus' Note: That's why I left them out, but good on ya for spotting
them!)

2) How come no one ever emphasizes the importance of 'Poto Oil' and
'Mama Poto Oil'? With these two items, you can construct the ultimate
offence team without having to sacrifice a space for Carlie/Kevin.
(I believe that 'Poto Oil' works like Heal Light, so have the person
with the highest 'Intelligence' toss the 'Poto Oil' for maximun effect)

(Magus' Note: Most people [like me] can't be stuffed. And Carlie's
quite good too!)

(Uhhhhh.....'s Note: It's the person with the highest Spirit that
should throw it, if what you say is true [Remember, higher Spirit means
better effects from indirect magic like Healing/Saber spells.])

3) Also, half the bosses in the game are really easy if you have
"Counter Magic." For example, when fighting the Scarlet Magician,
(Koren) just put 'Counter Magic' on everyone (either with Hawk or
Motango Oil) and go and watch TV or something. The only spell you have
to worry about is Ancient, but when that happens, just toss a 'Poto Oil'
or two and go back to doing whatever it was you were doing before. This
trick will NOT work with the 8 elemental beasts, as reflecting back
their own spells would only heal them. (Unless you use the Specter Coin
which makes it so reflecting back their spells WILL, let me repeat that,
WILL hurt them).

4) Also, if you hold down the 'Attack' button while fighting, the
computer will take over your character and fight for you. It saves
time if you don't feel like moving your character around just to fight.
You will know your character is under the comp's command when you see
the letters "AT" besides your character's name.

I think this is all I have to say without repeating what other sites of
mentioned. (Then again, I didn't visit ALL of the SoM2 sites.) =)
Hope this helps

From Razorclaw X:
Concerning your SD3/SOM2 FAQ/Walkthrough:

- For your Frequently Asked Questions section the first Seiken
Densetsu was the Gameboy game released in the US as Final Fantasy
Adventure.

- Dragon Knight is much better than you make it sound (believe it or
not). Summon Jormungand not only deals a decent amount of damage to
the enemy but also poisons them (poison is a lot better than it sounds
on paper, trust me). She also has a very good multi-target power attack
(think dragoon jump attack). Although you can't multi-target the
stat-down spells, it's better than having stat-up spells because you
can't buy stat-down items from the bazaar (also something to keep in
mind in terms of sabers).

(Magus' Note: Jormungand is the only good thing about her, so other
than that, she sucks.)

On the flip side, poison hardly works on the bosses. Jormungand is
another name for Norse myth's Midgard Serpent (it was also called
'Terrato' in FF6 for unknown reasons), and Fenrir is another name for
the Fenris Wolf of the same mythology.

- On the other hand, Vanadies' Freya Summon shrinks enemies, and you
therefore get no experience out of it; that's why she sucks.

- A simple tactic for Light Gazer: when you get moogled use the
mallet (Chibikko Hammer) item twice on everybody (turns you into a
midget, which cancels out the moogle effect, then changes you back to
normal; this trick isn't necessarily limited to the Light Gazer fight,
but this is the point when getting moogled can kill you fast). After
that Light Gazer is merely an annoyance rather than difficult.

- When fighting the Mana Beasts keep in mind which day you're fighting
them on, as you don't want to fight a beast on it's favored day. For
instance, you don't want to fight Fiegmund, the Water Beast, on
Undine's Day because his Attack power skyrockets. However, if you fight
them on their opposing day, their brutality will be cut in half (ie,
fight Fiegmund on Salamando's day). This may also apply to the other
bosses, but for some of them it is unclear which element they belong to
(like Genova, although it is probably a "Dark" monster). For the record,
I thought Dolan and Mispolm were both a piece of cake (Dolan was the
first beast I fought); just keep your HP high. Land Umber and Fiegmund
gave me the most trouble, though (you can't do too much about getting
frostied or not having Angela on your team). Jagan and Bigieu were
simple as well, but Archdemon, while very time-consuming to kill,
wasn't much more difficult. It's all in keeping HP high, really.

From Uhhhhh.....:

-Hawk's Agility has to be 14 or 15 to learn his "Shuriken" move, then
after that, every time you raise it, you should learn a new spell.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Higgy:

-Hi. I am a huge Seiken Densetsu fan. I took your advice on a party
and have Hawk, Angela, and Carlie, it works great. This technique
only works if you have Hawk. All you do is use Shuriken the whole
time and you win, the only thing you need is Magic Walnuts, Mama Poto
Oil, and Heal Light. The Lightgazer uses Magic Barrier tons, and
Shuriken isn't considered a spell. If he uses Prisoner just use Mama
Poto Oil then Heal Light.

-Me Higgy again. I am on the 7th God Beast and it's the Moon, (Dolan)
it's quite difficult to climb the tower, all my characters are on
level 33 and I found that the guys in the Light Ruins are easy as pie
and give 450-800 exp. per guy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Nightblade-

Most people may already know this, but you can actually see any
character that you can possibly choose (except for Carlie) in Jad.
Also, Lise/Riesz is the best character to start out with (even though
I hate her) because of her well-balanced stats. And the Star Lancer
is AWESOME!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Ryan Majury-

The days in order are, Luna, Salamandos, Undine, Dryad, Jinn, Gnome
then Mana Holy day. The reason I e-mailed you this is because every
Mana Holy day the inns are free.

Magus-Whoa! Totally forgot about that, thank you very much!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Wolf1109-
This could help some people out majorly in the later stages of the
game. Its an item called Poto Oil, or Poto Potion. It cures your
ENTIRE PARTY!! I just discovered this out. I remember I thought it
sucked in the beginning part of the game because its lack of ability
to heal your members efficiently, But once you level up, it gives you
some MAJOR juice!! Its found in the black market of Byzel (the right
merchant) for around 40 Luc (30 maybe?) Anyway, it saved my behind
quite a few times, especially against the harder bosses. Just thought
I would submit something =)

(Uhhhhh.....: Using Carlie to throw it is the best because she has such high
Spirit [She's a kid, go figure])

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Scuz-
If you are using ZSNES, hold down ~ to make the game speed up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Horvath-

Im a great fan of SD3 and I think your FAQ is the best there is,
honestly. But there are few things Id like to argue with.

- From what Ive heard, I imagined the God-Beast, Zable-Fahr as a huge,
mean impossible-to-beat-does5000damageperhit-superboss and I planned
out all sorts of strategies how to defeat it. Well, walking around
the glass desert I suddenly came into a cave and before I knew it I
was facing the legendary God-Beast of Darkness. My level 41 party of Duran
(Swordmaster), Hawk (Nightblade) and Carlie (Necromancer) starting
with half HP pounded him into a pile of smoking ectoplasm in about 5
minutes. Hawk and Carlie got knocked down twice in the battle, but
besides this it was an amazingly EASY battle. How bout that?

- The Darkshine Knight was pretty much the same. Thunder Saber, Thunder
Jutsu, Shuriken, Black Curse, kill him until hes dead. I only went
below 200 HP for once, when he used Vacuum Blade and Eruption Sword
after each other. Another battle that was supposed to be EXTREMELY
HARD. I was getting the feeling that I was a really great player,
but being beaten up by 2 Death Machines and a Power Boulder changed
my mind.

-JAGAN was a real pain. It took me hours to kill him due to his
tendency to Death Spell my only healer, then cast Psychokinesis and
Dark Force in a row. Seesh! Once I could power him down and cast
flame saber on everyone, I could pummel him while Angela kept casting
BlazeWall (about 900 damage per spell). I think he is the hardest
non-final boss in the game.

BIGIEU (if thats her name) however was much easier. I think it was
because she doesnt always cast spells like Jagan does. Also she
likes to keep casting Energy Ball endlessly, which doesnt help
anything much. I even forgot to use Leaf Saber and I used Diamond Saber
instead. Stone Cloud did almost 999 damage as well. Of course I used up
most of my healing items, but so did I with Jagan as well
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From MHSong01:

. If you write up where to get all items (or which monster leaves which
item), this would be THE best page... (I know it would take millions
of years, but this is what people would REALLY want... some people
have already started on it...)
. I think some of Lise's summons are multitargets, but your faq section
doesn't have any * next to her summons... i think she can multitarget
her ancient beast summon (something like Lamia Naga??)
. Adding everyone's special attacks (ex: Nightblade has Split-Image
Slice [all enemies])
. Nice thing to mention-if you have Angela in a Dark class, keep killing
bunch of enemies that give you ???? seeds, and hopefully they will make a
lot of Book of Runes... this will help you A LOT, because it will cast
Death Spells to those hard enemies and bosses (I was at L53 w/ 9 Books
of Rune... Archdemon didn't take very long...). just make Angela cast
her Death Spell, while you throw a bunch of Books of Rune. keep doing this,
and it would take about 2 min to take out 10000 hp from the bosses
easily.
-tips of beating jagan/darkshine knight
whatever you do, do not use any magic or lv.2 or 3 tech. They will always
attack back at you with a powerful magic. If they are attacked with simple
physical attacks, they are very easy. When they fall, beat the living crap
out of them.

tips of beating bigieu/archdemon #2
do whatever you want, but make sure you have some water attack... ice saber
is probably the best, and some of angela's water attack will do about 800
damage. even hawk's water jutsu will do 500. just show no mercy and attack
physically like mad.
infact, most bosses are easier if you depend on physical attacks (kevin and
hawk). this will be too easy if you do this.

tips of beating magic-depended bosses (koren, jagan, deathjester, etc)
just use reflect magic on everybody, and it is EASY! (if you don't have hawk
as light class, just beat darth mantango (found in the way to wood mana
beast) and it will sometime give you mantango oil-magic reflector).

-the box in the duran's house will be found out when u choose duran's quest
(as main character). when u choose duran as the main character, before
he leaves for his quest from his house, he will "pack himself to leave"
... there is nothing in the box...

enemies that leave weapon/armor seeds
demon wolf
nightblade
death machine
petit timat (it's thunder dragon)
and more...

error:
. nightblade's split-image slice damages all enemies, not only one.

. it seems that raising spirit makes you have more powerful offensive
magic as well (angela), not just indirect magic... also, power of the
sabers don't get more powerful by raising spirit.

tip:
. hawk's non-spirit spells (such as jutsu and trap) will get more
powerful when hawk has higher agility

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From MegaMew812-
The name of Dark Lich's spell that is stronger than Ancient is Death
Ecstasy. You also have to heal after that is cast. It shows a galaxy
and you're are attacked by meteors. Also, The NAME of Duran's/Angela's
final place is called Dragon's Hole, not Dragon's Hall.

1. When you encounter Evil Shamans or Necromacers, kill them first because
they can heal other enemies and themselves.

2. There are enemies that can be dangerous. The Shadow Zeros (found in the
Mana Holyland; grey shapeshifters) can turn into one of your party members.
If you have Hawk a Nightblade or Duran a Deulist and it turns into one of
them, you're probably dead meat since they have the most powerful techs. I
got killed by one of them. Beware when you're at the Glass Desert. At day,
the Gaurdians can cast Rust Hurricane which lowers all the characters' stats.
Then, when the Nightblades use Spilt-Image Slice, you can be brutally killed.
I also faced another damn threat and this one killed me a few times. The Dark
Lords, the threat I'm talking about, cast the useless Dark Saber on
themselves before they usually attack. Their Eruption Sword attack is deadly
and you must be fully healed to survive it, otherwise, you're a goner.

3. I found out that some of the enemies in the final areas have more exp.
than the Shapeshifters in the Mana Holyland. The Shapeshifters give you about
900 exp. Some enemies in the final areas give you about 1000 exp. For
example, the Great Demons in the Dragon's Hole give you about a whopping (?)
1300 experience points.

From Fiery101-
I doubt you are going to ever post this on your faq on gamefaqs or even
read the whole thing...I read it over and there was never any mention
of the best group i have ever had. With this group i can easily beat
most bosses in 5-10 minutes. The only thing that kinda sucks about
these groups is that there is almost no healing that is why you have
to majorly stock up and into every boss battle bring 9 chocolates, honey
pot things, Poto Oils, and maybe even the little candies. Anyway..back
to main subject. Try this group and why:

Kevin: DeathHand
Good Points: Extremely high attack power. Highest in the game.
For every boss battle make sure it is night so he can majorly
		  whoop up on them.
Bad Points: One spell, and it isn't very good. But who cares
		  anyway.

Hawk: Nightblade
Good Points: Again good attack power, Deadly Wrench thing on
all bosses, Awesome Limit Break, ( Note: Oh I like this guy
but i am so sick of points in the game where he does 1 damage
		  per hit all the time)
Bad Points: Still does 1 damage sometimes

Duran: Paladin
Good Points: Good attack power (Because he is Duran) Only
person who can heal, Saint Sabre ok for Dark Bosses, Best
		   Shield
Bad Points: Slooowwwww...but who cares all my guys deal
		   mega damage anyway

There you have it. All physical damage rocks, spells are boring and i
hate having to switch to different characters to do it.

I'm not that experienced with this game. I've played into the god
beasts with all the characters and beat it with Hawk, Lise, Kevin
and Duran, Hawk, Kevin. I'm half way with Kevin, Angela, Hawk but
not done yet.

I think Hawk-Lise's bosses are harder than Duran-Angela's but still
they are mega easy. The only time i have ever died (Not Purposely)
on this game is the first time i fought Hawk-Lise's Final Boss

I have to try my ultimate damage team and switch Duran to a Swordmaster
from a Paladin but that will have to wait. Physical Damage kills
magic damage every time i play and i think it is much easier just to
Beat the crap out of your opponents before you waste valuable whoopin'
time to cast a spell.

Oh yeah the worst class i can think of is the all girl class with:

Angela: Grand Deviner
Carlie: Sage
Lise: Dragon Master

Have Lise as your main character and try to beat her quest with these
people. Have fun bringing in magic nuts every battle and spending
about 5 hours to beat every boss because they all suck. I tried to
just play around with these three......urgh bad!!

If you read this far this is the furthest anyone has ever read on
anything i've wrote....good luck
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Serial Killer-
Hi Magus,
I played sd3 and noticed a little something that is repeated TIME AND
TIME again in the FAQ. I got the first ninjitsu move (shuriken) at
13 agility instead of 14 or 15. And I find that the idea of 2 main stats
for me sounds rather realistic but I'd have to elaborate a precise list,
but it seems for Hawk its agiltiy and intelligence but luck seems to
affect it too.
Anyways, You probably should add or replace all the info on ??? and
weapon/armor seeds in one section for in this game, its majorly
important(at least if you got a brain lol) Oh yeah, I just wish they
had translated this treasure. I got the first one but this one has so
much more replayability. This game has more FAQs than others and its
only on ROM and jap cartridge.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Shanku:

O well here's the tips / reply to the question how to use the 2nd skills
move thing: If you want to have a group attack.. Then just face the
opposite way of the enemies. if you want Kevin to throw the enemy,
then face it! :P

Simple huh?

And also.. I think I saw a part where to get enemies for 500 EXP each
(whoa!) but I forgot or lost the part where it is... (ow...) but do you
know where it is?! (Magus:Ranges from Light Ruins to Moonlight Forest.
You work it out, could be anywhere. But read below...)
Thanx!

-also my friend couldn't find moonlight city at first.. the trick to
go to moonlight city is to go around the dot 'til you find an entrance
in the river.. just add this to ur walkthrough...

-BTW, if you don't rest at the Inn in Pedan, Pedan will disappear.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Algenin:

-I see mistakes in the God Beast part of your FAQ. The rules about
the levels of enemies and the strength of God Beasts lies soley on how
many God Beasts you've already killed. You could fight the God Beasts
in any order whatsoever, but after you beat one, the levels of the
enemies in the place with God Beasts goes up by 2 levels and the power
of the God Beasts go up. For example, I fought Xan Bie first, so he
would be the easiest of the God Beasts for me. The enemies were LV 28.
Next, I decided to fight Mispolm. The enemies were LV30 and Mispolm was
a step higher in overall strength than Xan Bie. Then I fought the
birdguy (I forgot his name) enemies at LV 32, and so on so forth with
the next God Beasts I wanted to fight. So if you recommend levels for
bosses and the right order to fight them in, you are mistaken.

Magus:Well, they're easy if you have the right spells. But thanks
anyway! Helpful hint!

-Hi again. 45 minutes + to beat Dark Prince/ Archdemon? Yeah, ok, 30 minutes,
but in my opinion, you make him sound harder than he really is ( either that
or: 1. I'm damn good, 2. I picked the right classes, or 3. I was at a high
level for him, and I doubt it, because you recommened 80 [Magus: No, I said
that's very good, but 45-50 is good], I was 49)
Well, I have a strat. that works for both him and Bigeiu. I had Angela,
Lise and Hawk, which is a team that can lean toward power-magic and
stat-up/stat-down magic than the others like Kevin/Carlie's usual alignment
to healing and Duran's alignment to changing weapon alignments with sabers.
I used P and L to "multi-task" my characters. This strat. has little to
do with normal attacking, even though I did a moderate amount of hacking away
at Archdemon's ranus when I got up to him. I did Double-Spell with
Angela(Grand Divina)( even though I later found that I should of used
Earthquake against Bigeiu), Marduke with Lise(Star Lancer) and an occasional
stat-up spell, and Water Jetsu/ Deadly Gigantic Wrench ( :) ) with Hawk(
Night-Blade) With this, both bosses were moderatly easy( until you run out of
magic and magic-boosters) I ran out of magic AND had 2 Chibokkos( ran out of
stat-healing items) toward the end of the battle with Bigeiu, but she was
almost gone, so I just hacked at her with normal-sized Lise.
Also, ALL final classes for Angela are good, I think. I hear slander
about Angela's light-side which I would like to straighten out. Sorceress is
good for the time. As for Grand Divina, she rocks! She had multi-tasking LV2
spells, which totally rocks. Alsom her Double Spell attack works incredably
well with Multi-Spell tactics like the one I used for Bigeiu. Start her
spell, then start another spell. The wait time is cut, and she casts the
spell in no time. Even normally, the wait time isn't all that long foe an
attack like that.
Also, to defeat Genova in the Dark Castle, just use simple things like
water Jetsu and Ice Smash. Water deals considerable damage to Genova. ( It is
a furnace, remember) Just use simple spells while your friends take the
Shapeshifters. If Genova uses blaze wall, Spike( Level 1 trap) or
Avalanche(Level 2 trap), heal with round drops or at the most, Pakkun
Chocolates.
Same thing with Full Metal Hagger. If you went light with Angela, just
use Evil Gate. You don't have to use major Dark spells.
Actually, this probably works with every 2nd time battles. You can
probably just use Diamond Missle for Tzensar and just Air Blast for Jewel
Eater, saving magic, so you won't have to leave the entire area and re-do most
of it all over again because you were down on magic and magic walnuts.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Belgaren:
-I'd like to share an observation about the experience cheat.
The faq states that after using the enhanced exp cheat

7ff100ff
7ff400ff
7ff700ff (this last code doesn't work for me)

you have to wait for an "event" to reset the cheat and
stop giving you levels after every battle even if you turn off the cheat.

This is only partially true.

What happens is that your total experience climbs faster
than your next level requirements. If you turn on the cheat,
fight a battle or two and then turn off the cheat you'll see your total
exp is about 65280 points larger (65280 + ((value of exp gained) mod 0xFF
[I think, I don't know what neighbouring addresses hold])) for each battle
you faught. Turn off the cheat and fight a few battles (gaining a level
every battle or so), eventually your level will catch up with your
experience and pif, you're back to normal. Obviously you will gain
more levels if you use this at the beging of the game.

eg. I took Lise at level 7 and had her fight 1 rabbite with the cheat on.
after she reached level 24 the total exp had done it's thing and
caught up and everything was back to normal.

[I have noticed that sometimes the "total exp gained" is much higher than
expected (almost doubled). I don't know why this is.]

If you want a more manageable experience gain just lower the value
insterted by the cheat...
(ie 7FF10010 should give your main character about 4096 extra exp after
every battle)

The reason (or my reasoning) that an event fixes the problem is that
after an event the game does a self-check to ensure its data entegrity
(to prevent things like somehow gaining two levels after a major battle
instead of just one [which, if you arn't cheating, is the only time
this kind of thing might happen]).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Einstein:

-Congratulations on the FAQ; absolutely invaluable for those of us who
want to get the most out of their games without spending their entire
lives doing so (I'm a game-perfectionist too; a dying breed, but we're
still here.... those of us who *have* to find all 20 hearts on Zelda,
and all the Espers/Characters/skills in Final Fantasy games). But I have
just a few little things to add to your already-comprehensive guide.

Note: My party at the moment is Hawk (Ranger), Riesz/Lisa (Star Lancer)
and Kevin (Monk), though that'll change as soon as I get some more ???
seeds ;)

First off: the ultimate SD3 level-builder hint: the two-screen reset

When playing SD3, if you leave a screen that you have cleared of
enemies, it will still be cleared when you come back to it, provided
that you've not been away from it by more than one screen (i.e if you
clear a screen in, say, the Snow-fields, then take a wrong exit and get
trapped, when you've defeated the trap, the previous screen will still
be cleared). This must be taken into account when levelling up; you
can't just flick between two screens (one enemy screen, and a screen
with a goddess statue in it) constantly; you must go further afield.

Hope that makes sense.... but it certainly helps when going after mana
beasts, since there's always one screen of enemies between the last save
and the beast's room, so if you clear the screen, then go back and heal,
then you have a clear route to the boss......

Now, little tips:

1) When playing the section of the game where you fight the mana beasts,
it's worth noting that as your characters level up, so do the enemies in
the dungeons. As near as I can tell, the enemies are, on average, always
two levels ahead of you. Not much, maybe, but it really shows when
you're fighting those wolves in the Moonreading tower.....

Of course, the flipside of this is that you can gain levels at the same
rate throughout that stage of the game, but to be honest, I'd rather
have weaker wolves....

2) Re one of the questions posed; Kevin's 'Tornado Throw' is his
alternative level 2 tech for his Light class (Monk). I don't know if
he's got any other throws at other levels, because as I write, I haven't
got any of Kevin's second class change items yet. As for the randomness
of the move, I tend to find that when the game's controlling Kevin,
you're more likely to get Tornado Throws if he's currently 'engaging' an
enemy in combat (like, if he's in the middle of beating an enemy up).

3) I use Snes9x, not ZSNES, and the version I have doesn't have the
'remove graphic layers' options; so where's the proof for the sleeping-
thing? I want to see it!

4) Why on earth has there not been SD4 on Playstation? Surely given the
reception that Final Fantasy VII/VIII got, Square'd be falling over
themselves to make a new version (ah, well, there's always Chrono
Trigger II to look forward to.....) (Magus:Heard of Legend of Mana?)

5) To get past the plant leading to the Forest, you need to have Luna.

6) On the stat-limit thing, I was interested to note that, for Kevin (as
a Monk), around level 38/39, his most of his stats were maxed out. Might
be something to do with Spirit and Luck still being in single figures,
or it might be the limitations of his class, or something else.....

7) While fighting in the Light Palace, I struck lucky and found a ???
seed in a chest. I got Lisa's Star Lancer necklace, and gave her the
second class change. After this, which boosted her stats a lot, I found
that Heal Light from Kevin healed her more than it did the Hawk or Kevin
(260 HP instead of 220) without me improving Kevin's stats. Just an
interesting thing to note....

8) Boulder only seems to appear at night, and particularly around dawn;
at least, I've yet to see him during the day (it's all Bugs and Evil
Shamans). Also, enemies around Pedan seem to come in groups; Great
Rabite will often be found with Papa Poto, while Boulder appears in the
company of Guardians.

Use this tip in conjunction with the two-screen reset as follows: If you
enter a screen, and see Great Rabites or Papa Potos, don't bother
clearing it; just go two screens away, and come back, and see if the
enemies have changed. If there are Guardians on screen, go for it, as
there's bound to be a Boulder on the screen too....

9) If you're in Pedan, try this strategy for seed-finding.

NOTE: If at any point you seem likely to die, stop and heal up. This is
especially important if you are carrying ??? seeds, but have not saved
with them in your possession.

(i) From the city, wait till night, then take the west exit (next to the
boy who tells you about the Mana Stone Guru).

(ii) Clear this screen

(iii) Go south.

(iv) If you see a Papa Poto or Great Rabite, go north, then go to (vi)

(v) If you see a Guardian, kill it, then kill the Boulder that
accompanies it (and hope you get a treasure chest), then go north.

(vi) In the first screen, head down the steps, then go north

(vii) Here, if you see a Papa Poto or Great Rabite, head south (back to
the first screen), go up the steps, then repeat from stage (iii)

(viii) If you see Guardians, kill them both, but DO NOT KILL THE BOULDER
ON THE LEDGE!!!

(ix) Go south, up the steps, and north, and kill the Boulder (hoping,
again to get a chest). Then go south, and repeat from (iii)

(x) Carry on repeating this until it becomes daytime. Then go to the
Pedan inn, and rest and save, being sure to ask the whatever-it-is to
wake you up at night. When you wake up, save, and then repeat the
strategy from point (i)

The beauty of this strategy is that because of the two-screen reset, the
first screen will not reset itself.

10) To increase the odds of getting a treasure chest, always take
personal control of the character in your party with the highest 'luck'
stat (VERY handy when looking for ??? seeds)

10) I got a ??? seed off a Guardian once....

And I think that's about it for now..... I'll let you know if I come up
with anything more ;)

Once again, well done on the FAQ.

-Hey!

I finally finished SD3, and have a few more snippets....

1) Kevin's Warrior Monk has a level 3 throw tech. This leads me to
suspect that all Kevin's classes have throws.

2) When planting the special weapon/item seeds, try alternating planting
them with planting other seeds.... it seems to reduce the amount of
repetition of items encountered.

3) Shadow Zero: A complete pain (surely he warrants a mention in the
walkthrough as an enemy to look out for?) but this was not always the
case.... In SD2, when in the Mana fortress and opening chests, on
occasion, a shadowy figure would jump out, and the message 'Shadow
Zero!' would flash up. Nothing actually happened; Shadow Zero just
appeared, then vanished. Nobody I spoke to ever knew his
significance.....

4) As far as the endings go...... After each character has their
individual ending, and we cut back to the Mana Tree shoot, is there
anything after the fade-out? I feel like there should be..... I have a
nasty feeling that it's a problem with my ROM or emulator... But then
again, I remember that versions of FF6 (released as FF3 in US) imported
into the UK would work fine on a UK SNES using an adapter, until the end
sequence, when the programming trickery used was too much for an adapter
to convert, resulting in crashes....
---------------------------------------------------------------------
From cyber96537:
-I'd like to just say that Angela's Arch Mage class is actually quite
good. Multi target saint-beam is so useful on Zable-fahr. Rainbow is
insanely powerful. I was fighting the Dragon Emperor and it did 900
damage. Also I found that you can control how to do Kevin's throw tech.
Just get right next to the enemy and activate a level2 or 3 tech. and
he'll do it. It is totally controlled. Also this is something I noted
on the rom. Gorva and Zable-fahr are both invisible. But this can be
removed by taking off 1 background. Thanx for listening.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Lazer the Hedgehog:

-Hey Magus As i said before, thank you SO MUCH for your FAQ on Seiken
Densetsu 3 (aka Secret of Mana 2)!!! You really helped me, i get so
lost in that game. About your section on the Dark Lich (Carlie/Kevin's
final boss) you should mention to change sabers according to his
element change (don't mind my info, you may have upgraded your FAQ
already anyway)Oh yeah. tell Pokemon 10065 that the Dark Lich's most
powerful move is Death Ecstasy (the one with backround of galaxy and
meteor shower) =)

-Got some some seriously useful info!
Face it, Angela and Carlie are USELESS as fighters after they cross level 10
(apart from the occassional tach attack), but their magic
power/sabers/healing abilities make them valuable.
SO---
Use R and L to switch between item wheels, correct?
Well, press down on their item wheel to get their magic/sabers. During
battle, go to item screen and press L or R to get to their item wheel to use
their abilities.
Throughout the battle, you can select spells or whatever useful stuff they
can cast. For bosses, select spell, they cast it, the moment they cast it,
do it again. Good fighters can constantly attack while they heal and damage
with magic!
This is the BEST strategy to fight bosses with if one of those two gals (or
both) are your allies.
-Make sure they are not the leaders! Or else, you will only be able to
select the other ally only after the leader casts.

-Oh yeah
This is sure to save your behind in critical situations:
For some reason, after your characters are reduced to 1 HP they wait a while
before dying. If you heal them when they are at 1 HP, they die anyway. (That
sucks, eh?)
SO:
IMMEDIATELY select their item wheel when they get knocked down to 1 HP,
press down, have them cast ANY spell, saber, or whatever stuff they can do.
Then, IMMEDIATELY access another character's item wheel, and have that
character use a healing item (Pakhun chocolate, Honey drink, etc.) on the
character that is casting *whatever*, and the character will be healed!!!
(Notice that while casting spells characters don't feel the effects of
attacks done to them until they have finished casting!!) He/she will then
cast the stuff selected.
I found this to be extremely useful when fighting Dolan and Dark Lich (as
well as all the other bosses)!!!
Note- This will not work if your about-to-die character doesn't have spells,
duh! And if the leader gets down to 1HP, too bad, he/she will die!
Also, THIS MUST BE DONE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE!!! If the screen changes
position, or someone else becomes lead character, you were not fast enough!

From DarkLavos:

-I love SD3, and have been playing it for ages. I thought I was pretty damn
good and think I'm the best, but still your Faq taught me a thing or two ^_^
Here's a few bits you might like.

1) All of Kevins Classes (except for his first) have throw techs. These are:

Monk - Tornado Throw
Bashkar (Berserker) - Bastard Slam
God's Hand (Never used it)
Warrior Monk - Blow Impact
Dervish - Veritubach
Death Hand - Dead Crush

2) If I'm giving you his throw Techs, I may as well give you all the others
as you don't have a section on it ! My names are from a translated Rom
version. Also noted are 1 and All person techs. These are just dumped
straight off of my guide to the game. I have also got Gifs of all the
characters for each class if you want any.

Duran -
        Fighter - Cross Slash
        Knight - 3-Step Cut - 1
        Paladin - Flashing Sword - A
        Lord - Magic Circle - 1
        Gladiator - Whirlwind Sword - A
        Sword Master - Vacuum Sword - A
        Duelist - Eruption Sword - A

Lise/Riesz -
        Amazoness - Whirlwind Lance
        Valkyrie - Vacuum Surge Spear - A
        Vanadis - Light Shot Spear - A

        Ninja - Sillhouette Slice - 1
Ninja Master - (Haven't used this class)
        Nightblade - Split-Image Slice - (Not sure - haven't used this class)

Angela -
        Magician - Double Attack
        Sorceress - Pink Typhoon - 1
        Grand Divina - Spiral Rod - 1
        Archmage - Dancing Rod - 1
        Delvar - Star Attack - 1
        Rune Master - 10t - 1
        Magus - Hot Shot -1

Carlie/Charlotte/ -
        Cleric - Bonkle
        Priestess - Dash - 1
        Bishop - ChopChop - 1
        Sage - BoomBoom - 1
        Enchantress - Jump - 1
        Necromancer - Craaazy - 1
        Evil Shaman - HugeHuge - 1

Kevin -
        Grappler - Ashura Dream Fist
        Monk - Whirlwind Kick - A
        God's Hand - (Don't know)
        Warrior Monk - Genbu-100 Kick
        Bashkar/Berserker - Water Moon Slice
        Dervish - Sazuka Sky Dance
Death Hand - Seiryuu Death Fist
(Sei | ryuu = "Spirit | Dragon")

3) All enemies near Ancient city Pedan give you ???? seeds except for the
Great Rabites (I think you can get seed from the Evil Shamans as well but
VERY rarely i'm not sure)

4) Also worth noting is that nearly ALL enemies give you Weapon/Armour seeds
in the last dungeons. If you are using an emulator, then save the game before
you kill the last enemy on each screen then kill it and reload if it doesn't
drop a chest (only the last monster will drop one). When you get a chest save
before opening it then reload if you don't get a seed. What you get seems to
be based on the time after opening the chest so if you keep getting the same
item wait a second then open it again.

5) By the way, there's an amusing section at the end of you website
describing classes. Here's a quote:

"Paladin (Light Light)
The ultimate evil fighter, fights for the poor, defenseless, and in
the name of good."

I doubt the Paladin is evil somehow ^_^ You've probably fixed this by now
though.

6) About the Angela beign 3rd character/moogle glitch that Pokem10065
mentioned, I noticed this too, the character turned blue, but the game didn't
bug out and I killed Lightgazer fine.

7) If you are going to have a codes section on your Faq anytime then I make
my own codes, but I can only change a numerical value. If it's a number,
then I can edit it. If you want some then E-Mail me and I'll get on it.

From DragonKnight Zero:
-I looked through the FAQs section of your guide and I have answers for
some of the questions.

person stuck at Darkness Castle

Just past the inner courtyard, there is the room where you would go
right to reach the throne room. Go left and up the stairs (they were
blocked earlier). That should put you back on track.

The limits on a character's maximum stats depends on his or her class.
You cannot go beyond them unless you change classes.
www.rpgclassics.com has all the character's maximum stats for every class
in their SD3 section.

I have gotten a Papa Poto's Claw from a Papa Poto once but it's extremely
rare. There's a better chance of recieving a ??? Seed. Silver Knights
(found at Ruins of Light) also drop a Papa Poto's Claw occasionally. I
personally don't find it worth the trouble to acquire Papa Poto's Claws
but others might feel differently.

Machine Golems tip:
Thunder Saber, if you have it, hurts them bad. Stick to level 1
techs (they counter level 2 techs) and try to go after one at a time
because the Machine Golems will cast a spell on your party when nearly
dead and having all three cast their spells one after another can
easily take out your party.

I don't think there's any bug in the game when choosing Angela as the
third character. I remember beating the game on the cartridge with
Duran, Kevin, and Angela (in that order). I know the Light Gazer
moogled the group at least once and the cartridge never crashed.

1 damage from regular hits in the Cave of Darkness? That's no bug.
The damage system with regular attacks is simple. The target's defense
value is simply subtracted from the attacker's attack value to obtain
the damage. The game randomly adds 0-2 points to obtain the damage done.
If the value is negative, the damage will be 1. Example: Character
with attack value of 210 attacks an enemy with a defense value of 145.
Damage from regular hits will be 65-67 per hit. By the way, all
level 2 techs use the same damage formula; just double the attack
value before subtracting the target's defense value. All level 3
techs work in a similar way with a different damage formula.

From anticuno52486:

-Hi Schala's Brother,

here are some tips(battle tips actually) for SD3:

1. Magic Succesion Technique
        While fighting enemies(preferably just after
you draw your weapons) hit x for your item/spell ring.
Switch to your slowest ally(not the leader) and select
your spell then hit A. Then quickly press x again for
your other ally. select the spell, press A and press x
again now let your leader cast. This will greatly
improve and reduce battle time since their just coming
closer to you and your kicking their ---.

2. Healing and Spell Casting
It is always advisable to cast healing/
attacking spells but they take ages to perform it. So
when your in a rush or dying from a killer Swordmaster
or a combo use poto oil by your favourite healer or
coins, books and items that can cast spells by, of
course your favorite spell caster, because items are
faster to use then stupid slow spells(but not that
limited than items)!!

3. Easier way of leveling up
Instead of going up and down two screens for
them to reset, find a place which is connected to 2
other screens who are also connected so all you have
to do is circle around it and two of those would have
enemies.

-

Sorry if you couldn't understand my mail bec.
that's my first one I sent to you.

I'll explain in simple english what tips I have.

1. All party members casting spells one after the
other.
This can be done by summoning your spell ring
and the spells asigned in a specific order: Stat
Change, Healing Spell and last, the attack spell. Also
I would like to add that the leader should be the one
with the attack spell. This may not work sometimes
because other party members are busy, but I guarantee
this in my party of Lise, Carlie, and Angela. I don't
know about Sabres where they should go but I think
they are Status Changes. This would be very useful if
you are fighting a boss and hit you with "ouch" spell
and you want to pay him back some damage!!!

Suggested Combo:
Mind up(Spell caster attacking enemy)
Heal light(or something on all allies)
Any attack spell(with additinal damage by mind up.

2. Poto oil or Heal light*
This can really be a life saver especially after
you're hit with a Suzaku Sky Dance or Hell Cross and
they are just so fast you're dead in 3 seconds(over
exagerrated). After a big attack quickly use:
-a poto oil if he's gonna attack again: e.g. Lugar
-heal light on your party if he's slow(preferred after
the battle)
so you can save you poto oils for another battle.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

From Coyotl:

-Just wanted to point out, it's not just the boulders in the jungle
area that give the ??? seeds you need. If you get to the goddess
statue in the labyrinth of ice walls and have some time to kill (I
arrived on Jinn's day, wanted to advance it to Salamando's before
fighting Fiegmund), seek out the Mama Potos, kill the other monsters
in the room and get the Potos to split off some Papa Potos. Kill the
Papa Potos last, and use some state-saving (if you can) to get a chest.
Save, open, if it's not a seed restore, lather, rinse, repeat...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

From Scott Hsieh:

-I just completed Seiken 3 today with Lise, Carlie, and Angela! Thanks for
the great (and really comprehensive) walkthrough!

It was my first time through (thanks for not telling me until the end that
Lise had the toughest bosses!), but I found the game to get progressively
easier as time went on. After Jewel Eater, who whooped me many more times
than I'd like to admit, all the bosses were fairly straightforward...with
the exception of Dolan, who caught me off-guard the first time, and Jagan,
whose Death Spells nearly depleted my Angel Grail supply. Nearly. ;)

Anyway, a few thoughts:
1) Lise's stat-up spells are invaluable, especially for beating the bosses.
Power-up will raise your attack power to about double its original, which
cuts down the time to beat bosses in about half; Protect-up blocks physical
attacks really well, Speed-up raises your agility and evasiveness, and
Mental-up raises your magic effectiveness and defense. As soon as I got
Power-up and Protect-up, I thought it would be neat to try them against the
bad boys at the end of each level--never knowing that these stat-up spells
make every confrontation a *lot* easier than they would otherwise be.

Here's the trick: I think you get these stat-up spells roughly around the
time you're wandering around in the Desert of Scorching Heat. From this
point on, notice how a lot of the bosses (for example, Lugar, Mispolm, most
of the Mana Beasts) take their pretty time to appear on the screen? Since
you can't attack them during this period of time, it's a great opportunity
to cast your stat-up spells. You can probably get 2 or 3 spells in before
the boss even appears.

Until Lise becomes a Star Lancer and learns to multi-cast her spells, you'll
have to do these one by one. I suggest ignoring Mind-up and probably
Speed-up until then, since most of the bosses until then use melee attacks
to do the most damage, but casting Power-up and Protect-up are definitely
worth it. This means six spell casts--but you'll have gotten in 3 "free"
casts already. You'll need to cast three more to insure you'll have an easy
time, but that brings up the next point.

2) Linking spells, i.e. casting two spells right after another, cuts down on
casting time, except in the case of Carlie's healing spells, which are
nearly instant. What I mean is, if you want to cast Lise's stat-spells,
which take a while to do, use another character (say, Angela) to cast
something else before it- for example, if you're fighting the Ice Mana
Beast, use Angela to cast Fireball, and immediately after you select that
spell, go to the ring system again and have Lise cast her stat-up. This
seems to reduce spell-casting time by a *lot*, since the second spell
follows almost automatically after the 1st goes off. Very useful.

Anyway, with Protect-up, guys like Mispolm weren't even able to hit me; a
lot of times, the vines on the side would knock me back, but with 0 damage.
This is the case with a lot of bosses, in fact, and when they do hit you,
your damage is greatly reduced. Obviously, with Power-up, whacking the
bosses is going to be THAT much easier, also. They're definitely worth
casting on all your characters.

Later on, when you get multi-targeting, make sure you cast every stat-up
spell you have. I didn't really notice if Speed-up did any good, but Mind-up
is also invaluable-- the last boss, Archdemon tried casting Death Spell on
me at least three times, but he missed every single time! His other spells
only took off about 100-150 each time as well. As a result, I was able to
whup him at Level 53 in about 15 minutes without using any Angel
Grails--even though I forgot to put magic walnuts in my ring and ran out of
mana for Angela's Death Spell. I had difficulty with Dolan's constant Death
Spell-ing, but in retrospect, I could have probably "blocked" most of them
with an opportune Mind-Up beforehand. Most bosses will be pretty
straightforward as long as you keep your stats up, down their stats with
dark curse if you have it, and heal every time you get hit (Carlie has too
many magic points to use, anyway).

3) Weapon/armor seeds. I followed the instructions in the previous FAQ and
went back to Pedan on a Great Rabite rampage, hoping to get those elusive
Weapon/Armor seeds. Unfortunately, I noticed that they "ran out"! Somehow,
if you've been in Pedan long enough, the Great Rabites stop giving
Weapon/Armor seeds, and give you Stardust Herbs, or something like that.
Truly weird.

Instead, I suggest going to the Cave of Darkness, where the Night Blades and
Demon Wolfs will all go you Weapon/Armor seeds every time they leave behind
a chest. Just make sure you kill them last, and have full hit points
whenever you confront them: wicked moves like the Night Blade's Split-Image
Slice, or the Demon Wolf's Seiryuu Death Fist, will cut you down to almost
nothing, in no time at all. Just heal often, or silence them with a spell
like Marduk. You'll get seeds galore at any time of the day ;)...plus a lot
more experience than those Rabites, which are not as common to encounter
anyway.

Also, I've noticed that saving states doesn't seem to change what you're
going to get from planting these seeds. After a lot of fiddling around, it
seems that the stuff you're going to get only changes when: 1) time has
passed, and it's a different day; or 2) you try to plant other seeds, and
then plant the weapon seeds. For this latter point, I haven't figured out
what planting ???? seeds does to the order of the weapons/armors you get,
but I've noticed that Mysterious seeds and Flying Item seeds will advance
the order by one each time. For instance, say you're going to get a 1) Rune
Coat, 2) a Maul of the Dead, 3) a Polaris Armor, and 4) an Undead Suit, if
you planted four Weapon/Armor seeds consecutively. Planting two Mysterious
or Flying Item seeds first, and you'll get a Polaris Armor on your first
Weapon/Armor seed, followed by the Undead Suit on your next one. Mysterious
and Flying Item seeds seem to be equivalent for this ordering scheme.

Last point: Unless your facing a boss, sticking with Lise's L.2 tech, the
Vacuum Surge Spear, is the way to go. It deals out way more total damage
than the Falling Star, unless you're just facing one enemy (like a boss).
And even a couple of bosses like Zable-Fahr are multi-part.

That's about it. I found all the later bosses to be surprisingly easy,
particularly Archdemon, once I adopted the scheme of Stat-up/Heal often.
And, much as I like Angela's spells, I found most of them going to waste
later on: I avoided using Death Spell until Archdemon, in the fear that it
was "too cheap", and I preferred whacking away with my powered up weapons
rather than taking the time to cast those Level 3 spells, most of which I
touched only once or twice.

Have a tip? Or just want to rant? Go ahead. Send in to

7) Walkthrough
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Duran
---------------------------------------------------------------------

When you have selected all of your characters, you will appear at the
King's Castle (or something). Let the knight there kill you, and then
when you get restored it's time to kill him. A handy little tactic is
when the blue attack bar at the bottom of the screen turns green,
press B and you will do a tech attack.

Anyway, once you have beaten him, go with the flow until the Kingdom
of Altena attacks. Follow the red robed mage, Koren, and strike him a
few times. Then he will laugh at you, and say something about Magic.
Then, when the king leaves, talk to him. Leave the castle and head
down to the cave, get through there and board the ship.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Angela
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Angela will start out trying to learn magic. Her instructor will tell
her that she will need to practice. Go to the throne room and talk to
the woman and the man in the red robe. The man will beam you out.
Let the two monsters beat you. Then you'll be in Elrand, and after
that you will head to Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch the scene, and then you'll see Kevin and Carl. Kevin will tell
Carl to howl. Then find your way back to the Beast Kingdom castle.
Carl will morph and start attacking you. Let Carl win. Then Kevin
will become a werewolf and beat Carl, killing him. Go to the castle
and go out the door on the right. Then go down, and outside to the
outer part of the castle, and go to the left door.

Speak to Lugar. Go back out and go up through the middle. Then you
will hear people talking. He breaks through the wall and attacks.
The king will punch Kevin over the wall, then Kevin will go to Jad
(after getting through the Moonlight Forest).

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Carlie
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll start out in a big field of flowers. Later, you see Heath talk
with the Priest. Charlotte will try to follow Heath, and will bounce
off a little yellow spring thing. Then, she'll see the Death Jester
warp Heath away and vows to save him. Unlike all the other characters,
she will head to Astoria, and not Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hawkeye
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll start out with Nikita and 2 others sneaking though a town,
and stealing some money. The king will want to talk with you. When
you go, you'll meet General Isabela. After that, go downstairs, up
through the door, through the middle, up the stairs to the right,
down, up the stairs to the right, and take the exit down to get
outside, on the right is a set of steps leading to Eagle. Head back
to see Isabela. Isabela will turn Eagle into an evil fiend, who will
try and kill you. Strike Evil Eagle while trying to avoid his
attacks. After you badly wound Eagle, he'll be back to normal.
Isabela kills Eagle with Fire magic, and jails you for assasinating
Eagle. Then she curses Eagle's sister. You decide to go to Wendel
and see if the Priest can remove Jessica's curse. You go to Judd.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Riesz
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll fight a needle bird. Then, you'll go to the Rolante castle.
Elliot, her brother, will be missing. Talk to the old lady named Alma.
Then you'll see Elliot forced to trip the control of the gales. Go to
the lower left part of the castle to save. The ninja's of Navarre beat
Elliot up when you try to save him. Run to the king. Then Navarre will
invade. Then you will go to Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jad/Rabite Forest
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Get off the ship, and go down. Then head to the inn and rest. Tell
him that you want to wake up in the night. The when it is night, head
out of Jad.

(Note: All the other characters are in this town. You can't get them
though. [If you have Angela as your main character, talk to Hawk and
get a laugh])

Fight your way through the Rabite Forest, level up (3) if you feel it
is necessary. Then where it has a path going to the right, go there
and keep going until you hit the barrier. Then backtrack, go down and
into Astoria.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Astoria
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk to all of the people, buy whatever you feel like buying, and then
sleep at the Inn. You will be woken up in the middle of the night, by
a blue orb thingflying around. Get out of the Inn, and go to the lower
right hand corner of the town. Talk to the thing and follow it out of
Astoria.

Keep following the orb thing, fighting enemies as you go. Halfway
there will be a golden goddess who will restore you, and save your game.
Then when you catch up with the orb thingy, it will reveal itself to
be a fairy. Go back to Astoria, and find out that it has been trashed
by the Beastmen. Level up to level 4 outside of town.

Now, head back to the place which was blocked off with a barrier.
There, you will meet your second character. Keep going right and the
fairy will unblock the cave, and you will go in.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Cave of Waterfalls/Wendel Holy City
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Pretty straightforward. Go down, use the golden goddess, (good idea to level
up to 5 here) go down, left, up and left. Halfway you will see a girl,
Carlie,
rescue her and watch. Then continue on your way out and head to Wendel.
(Uhhhhh.....'s Note: If you chose Carlie as your third character, you will
have her now!)

At Wendel, first buy whatever you need, then go North and speak with
the Priest. Listen carefully, and then head back to the cave.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Cave of Waterfalls
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go back through here, gaining levels (to 6) and restoring your life
at the Goddess when needed. Then go one screen down from the Goddess,
and go left. Select the fairy, and it will get you across. Fight
through here, and two more screens up, you can go left to a Mana
Goddess. Pick right to continue on, keep on fighting, and meet the
boss.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Full Metal Hagger
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Aim for the eyes and soon it will be dead. Heal with Round Drops as
needed (also remember the green bar technique). You shouldn't die.
(From Uhhhhh.....If you do, you should seriously consider taking up
playing with Tinker Toys. :) (Magus: WHAT'S WRONG WITH TINKER TOYS?)
(Uhhhhh.....: No comment ^_^)

Then, you will receive Wisp. Raise your Intelligence and Agility levels
a little higher than the others so that you can learn spells. A path
will open up. Head there, and some bad people will push you off. You
will wake up in the jail cells of Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jad Fortress/Maia
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go up to the wall and talk with the person (your next party member
unless you chose Carlie as your third character, which if so, you
will have her already and will be talking to Duran). Your third
character (or Duran) will trick the guard and escape. Talk to the
golden goddess, and head upstairs. I suggest you build up your new party
member's levels as they are quite low (4 compared to 6). Fight fight
fight, and go out. Head to the right and board the ship to
Maia.

Get off, and when you enter town, head to the rightmost house with a
boy outside. Talk to the man inside (Bon Voyage) and look at the
cannon. Then go out, buy what is necessary, and head left to the
Golden Path.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Golden Path/Maia
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fight your way through here, and when you reach a cave opening, go in
(Cleft of the Earth). Save your game, go into the cave, and across the
bridge. Then you will meet some people, and have to fight some robots.
Head back to Maia afterwards and talk to Bon Voyage again.

Then he will mention that he needs some gunpowder. Now speak with the
man barely South of the pots which are South of the Inn in the village,
and head back to the Cleft of the Earth.

Talk to the goddess and choose to use Wisp. A path will open up. Enter
and head to the Dwarf Village.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dwarf Village/Dwarven Tunnel
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Buy what you need, and speak with basically everyone. Go into the
item shop and talk to the person there. Then return to the path before
the entrance, and go right. A dwarf will be there, and he will blow
open a hole for you, leading you to the Dwarven Tunnel.

Go East through the opening, (Note: Build up levels to 10) East again,
West (upstairs), West, and East behind the wall. Go East again and
talk to Watts, say no to both his offers (unless you really want it,
it's just a waste of very precious moola) then go back West. Go South.
Follow the one way path until it branches off down and West. Go down,
and save your game.

Go North and West, and continue until you face off with the boss.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jewel Eater
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This boss is quite hard. You cannot dodge his attacks, so just keep
attacking him and healing.

After you beat it, you will get Gnome and Watts will give you the
gunpowder for free. If you want to level up, then don't warp out.
You will go back to Maia.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Maia
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Do what you want, and then head to Bon Voyage. He will shoot you
into the Molebear Highland. (Uhhhhh.....: Stupid mad scientists. J/K)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Molebear Highland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is quite an annoying place, although all you have to do is pop
into the holes and you will appear somewhere else. The way I got my
way out was by going South all the time, until I reached a cave
(which was the Cleft of the Earth!!!). From there, I backtracked North
and took any path which went North or to the East. It was very close by.
Anyhow, you should reach Forcena very soon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Forcena
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You are the middle of an invasion by Altena! Go up into the castle,
and head up until you reach a room with only two choices: East or West.
Go into either door, and keep going North until you meet the king.
Hit Koren once and he will go away. The king will thank you and tell
you about the Mana Stones/Spirits. Leave the castle, but talk to Bon
Jour on the way out. Buy whatever you need,
talk to a woman in a South-Western house, and she will say something
about Bon Jour's cannon, then go back to the castle where Bon Jour
will fire you back to Maia.

-From Phil Horkin

There will be a woman in the town of Forcena, who will tell you that
the cannon is ready. She's in the first house on the left. Go talk to
her. A floor above her is a guy who talks about Duran's father.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Maia
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Head through the Golden Path until you reach Byzel.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Byzel
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Get whatever you need, and if you want go to the Inn, sleep and tell
him to wake you up at night for access to the Black Market! Try to
get some Poto and Mama Poto Oils. You'll need to come back later anyway.
Catch a ship to Palo when you are done.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Palo/Path to the Heavens
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Buy things, and head left to the Path to the Heavens. Build up to
level 12-13. Now if I remember correctly, go North, North, East, North,
East, North, East, and East and you should be at a cave entrance. Or, when
you see
the path leading up to a triangular crack in the ground, go right from
there. Go over the bridge into the cave, and out to the flower garden.
You will fall asleep, and wake up in the Amazon hideout.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Amazon Hideout/Byzel
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk to everyone, then go to the upper right door to listen to a
meeting. Leave, go outside and talk to the Amazon to launch you to
Byzel. Rest at the Inn, wake up at night and enter the Black Market.
Get the Chibikko Hammer from the old grandma standing in the barrels,
then hitch a ship ride to Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jad/Rabite Forest
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Get out of Jad, and in the Rabite Forest keep going down until you
reach a signpost. Go left and follow that path until you can't go
any further. There will be a golden goddess here. Go South. Speak to the
stone statue, and use the Chibikko
Hammer on everyone, then go into the upper left corner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Corobokkle Village
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Talk to the old guy, then talk to everyone else, and don't forget to
talk to the people in the houses. Then talk to the old guy again and
he will reveal himself as Don Perignon. (That damn old fogy!) After
that, go back to Jad and grab a ride to Palo.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Palo/Path to the Heavens
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go to the path, and back to the triangular crack place. Head North
until you go into the Corridor of Wind.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Corridor of Wind
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now in here, you have to hit switches to change the flow of wind.
Now you should be able to get through here pretty easy, and if you get
stuck, just build up your levels. 13-14 is good. Hit the first switch
to get through, then head West. Go into the next cave, and hit the
switches to go West, and East. You'll go down some steps. Next is a
puzzling room, get blown around, until you are free of the wind, and
head North to a switch. Go back to where the wind blowing thing was,
head South through that, then hit the switch all the way in the East
side of the room. Now exit through the opening in the bottom.

You will eventually come back outside to a long path. Do not enter
the first cave on the right with the Mana Stone, keep going down,
enter the cave for a Mana Goddess.

(Uhhhhh.....'s Note: A fun but really time consuming thing to do is beat
Tzenker,
then go between the enemy screen and where you fought Tzenker,
healing as needed. Fight until level 18 and you can get your first
class change, although this is just if you wanna take hours of your
time. ^_^)

Then go back to the Mana Stone, go right to meet Jinn, the Dark-Shine
Knight beating him up, and the boss, Tzenker.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tzenker
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a snap, especially if you have Angela and her spells. Hit it
when it is in the South-Eastern corner. Use Gnome's spells, and if
you bought anything at Byzel (Earth Coins, etc.) use those.

Once you have beaten it, talk to Jinn, and return to the big, puzzling
cave. Look for an entrance in the North-East corner (past the grate).
It will blow you back to the entrance (near). Now get out and go back
to Palo for supplies (optional but strongly recommended), or the
Amazon Hideout for your next adventure.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Amazon Hideout/Rolante
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Meet back to the flower patch. You will see the others. Use Jinn, and
the soldiers of Rolante will fall asleep. You will then be taken to
Rolante. The enemies here are quite hard, but if you feel like it,
level up here when you reach the statue (I got to level 16, although
14-15 is good enough). From the entrance, go North-East, North-East,
East, up the stairs, South, North, East, South, East, East, North, North,
South, left door, right door, and then the middle room. Here is a Mana
Goddess, which will prove invaluable to your level-building. remember,
level 14 is good enough. Go South from that room, and North, and get
ready for your toughest fight yet: Genova.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Genova
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hate this boss as it spits out Shape-Shifters which keep
changing forms when they "die". Let your other two characters deal
with them, while you keep hitting Genova. If they get hurt bad, help
them, and cure as needed. Remember that once Genova dies, the shifters
die too.

Heal, go North to face Bill and Ben. (Aaagghhh!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill and Ben
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Much like Masa and Mune from Chrono Trigger, these guys are moderately
hard. They morph into one and split quite often. Keep healed, and when
they join whack the absolute crap through them and out of them. :)
They are barely easier than Genova, so you should be done soon.

Go up, and talk to Isabela. Watch the scene, and exit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Path to the Heavens/Palo
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You will be outside Rolante. Head South, and back down to Palo (more
level building). When in Palo, stock up and board the ship for free,
but there's one catch....it's a ghost ship!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ghost Ship
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You will wake up halfway in the night. Go South, East and South to a
three door corridor. Head to the middle and kill the enemies for items,
or just go to the left one. Go to the book case and talk to the books
in this order: right, left, middle, left. Go to the right. Put the
character you don't like at the front by pressing SELECT. (Not Angela
or Carlie as they will both be really good against the boss) Talk to
the book and your character will be cursed. Your other two will run off,
and you will have to free him/her.Get out, go back and take the North-
Eastern staircase (one or two rooms after the 3 door corridor). Go left,
up, South and finally, the door to the left. Face Gorva.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gorva
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A sinch with Angela. If you do have her, keep casting Holy Ball until
her MP is gone, then let him kill you, (or just use a Magic Walnut or
two) use an Angel's Grail and repeat. Otherwise, just heal and keep
hitting him when he is in range.

After that, Shade will come out and you will have a new spirit to use.
Your other character will also come back. Then after the story, you
collapse and end up on Volcanic Island Bucca.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Volcanic Island Bucca
---------------------------------------------------------------------

First, go North-West and North to see Bookasboo, the turtle. Then
head back, North-East, West, East, South, West, South, North, West,
South, West, North, North, North, and East into the Dark Priest
Village.

Here, do what is necessary and heal. This is a great place to gain
levels (16-17). Then exit. Go South, North-West, North, West, and
West. Now look at the rock in the upper left corner. Use Gnome.
Enter the opened cave.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Seashore Cave
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Very hard place but I built up to Level 18 here. Once you learn Evil
Gate with Angela, the enemies are a snap. Head East twice, South,
East, South, and West.

You'll find yourself at a golden goddess. Use it and the nearby rooms
to build levels if you want. From the statue, go South, West (you
must destroy all the enemies for a path to open up), West, South,
North-West, West, West, and save. Go North twice, and speak to Jagan,
another servant of the Dark Prince. After his short speech, the volcano
erupts, but the turtle you saw from earlier saves the day by carrying
you to a beach near Maia. Go West and North onto the Golden Road,
then go East into Maia. Save at the inn, and then restock your
items. Now talk to Bon Voyage and be launched to Forcena.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Forcena
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go into the castle, speak with the King. He will blabber on (but
listen), and give you a flute to summon the turtle Bookasboo. Go back
out, take a cannon to Maia, and get back on the Golden Path. In the
first or so screen, go down and reach the beach. Use the Pihyara Flute.

Now you will be riding on Bookasboo. Head North or so to the big ice
place, and look for a beach to land on (in a bay). You will enter Snow
City Elrand. If you are on Level 18 or more, you should probably head
back to Palo and up to the Wind Mana Stone to get your first class
change. Anyhoos, buy what is needed (a shield for Duran! [make sure
he is a Light class]), then head to the lower right hand corner to
enter the Sub-Zero Snowfield.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Zero Snowfield
---------------------------------------------------------------------

An excellent place to build up (I got to 22). Go South, West three
times, South, West twice, South, North-West (gray statue, saves),
North, West, North twice, West twice, South twice, and East for a
goddess. Now build up to at least 18 and head West and West. You will
face more Machine Golems. (We warned you to change classes :^_^:)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Machine Golems
---------------------------------------------------------------------

HARD. At the start they launch stuff at you, so duck. Use wind spells
and heal constantly. They attack and have a long rest before they
attack again. Try your best, and a class change would help.

After you are done, head West and into the cave. Talk to the stone
and you will get Undine. Now, if you haven't already done it, it's
class change time! See the guide above for details.

Go back to the beach, summon Bookasboo, and off you go!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sand City Sultan
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Surf to the South-East dot on the map, and to the left of it. Land on
the beach, and enter Sand City Sultan. Stock up (Honey Jars), do what
is needed, and go East to the Desert of Scorching Heat.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Desert of Scorching Heat
---------------------------------------------------------------------

For me, a very easy place to gain levels. I got from 22 to 24 here.
While fighting enemies, go East, South, East, South, South, South,
East, East and East. This takes you to a town (Oasis City Deen).
Save, rest, etc., and level build if you want. If not, then go West,
West, West, and West. Then go East, South and East. Now it's time for
friggin' Bill and Ben again. Damn.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Bill and Ben
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I hate these two. They are extremely hard, and if you haven't reached
Level 20 yet, (22 recommended) and had your first class change, TURN
BACK NOW! Okies, the way to defeat these is to hammmer them as hard as
you can when they are as one, because when they are split they will
whoop, I mean WHOOP yo ass. Cast Heal Light if you can, heal with
items, (Poto Oil) raise your stats, down their stats, just STAY
ALIVE....

After that ordeal, you will not see them again! (YAY!) Go down into
the Valley of Flames.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Valley of Flames
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Another good place to build up your levels. Go South, South, East,
South, East, North, and West. A golden goddess is here. Go East. Bla
bla bla, and then go East. Talk to Bigieu and she will go away. Talk
to the stone and gain the next spirit, Salamando. Now get out of here,
back to Sand City and take the turtle to the dot in the center of the
map, look for a beach nearby and head there. Enter Moonlight City
Mintos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Moonlight City Mintos/Moonlight Forest
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Once you are in here, stock up on items, and grab new weapons and
armor if needed. (It's needed :) ) Then head to one of the paths
leading West, and you will enter the Moonlight Forest. Inside, you
will find extremely easy enemies who will give you plenty of experience.
Level 25, coming up! (You only need to be above 20, but I am a freak
with lots of time on my hands). Head South, South, North-West, West,
West, South, West and North. Watch the scene (Funny if Carlie is in
your team) and then fight Lugar.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lugar
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Easy, huh? Wait until he casts Moon Saber. Now he's hard. (He's hard
anyway. ^_^) Just try to pummel him as hard as you can, as once his
combos start, they don't stop. (Two combos in a row can easily kill
you) Try this: Main character's power attack, spell, spell, another
power attack and repeat. Never let a character die, if they do, revive
them. Hope you survive...

After that, Luna will appear and you get her. Then head up into the
castle and talk to the stone. Now get back to Mintos, and summon
Bookasboo to take you to the Moonlight Forest.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Moonlight Forest/Diorre
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Swim near the last dot, and land. Use Luna at the bushes and you are
in. Talk to the character there (Carlie) and wait until night. Then
head on in. Build up to 23 or higher here. Now since it is night,
follow the red flowers to get to Diorre (South, South, West, South,
South, East, South, West and North). Now you should be in Diorre. Ok,
since no-one will speak to you, go to the mansion in the lower left
hand corner. Enter, go up and talk to the king. Now you will hear some
crap, apart from "go to the goddess and use Luna". Now the people will
talk to you. New weapon and armor time, plus items, and now head back
out. Go East, North and West to reach the statue. Talk to it, use Luna
and a path will open up. Go West, West, North, and North.
Now meet Gildervine.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gildervine
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Be on 23 or higher. This is a snap, a synch, and pretty much a waste
of time. :) Just attack and use techs to win.

Now you will receive Dryad. Head back out and your next stop on
Bookasboo will be the Island of Oblivion. It is the middle small
island on the map.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Island of Oblivion
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go West, South and Faerie will try to open the Gate to the Holyland.
Now you will see a sequence of three countries (Altena, Beast Kingdom,
and Navarre) heading to it, and after all that, go to Palo. It's on
the South-Eastern continent somewhere. (Uhhhhh.....: In that huge bay that
makes the land look like a crescent moon. There's a beach there) Or you
could just catch a ship
from Jad.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Palo/Path to the Heavens/Rolante/Summit of the Skies
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go back to the Rolante castle, and talk to the person next to the
stairs. She will open up a path for you. Go East, North-East, West,
North, East and South.

You will climb a path and meet Flammie, (not a "father", but a girl
?????) your air travel. Now sit back and watch it enter the Mana
Holyland.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Holyland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You will see bodies of those who have perished before you. (Note: level
building time. [26-27]) Now head North, West, North, West, North
(on lilies), South, West, North, and North again. You will be at the
statues. Go East twice, North-West, and North. At the top of the screen
will be the Sword of Mana. (Uhhhhh.....: You think your quest is almost
over? Think again)Then Faerie will disappear. Open the chest
to get the Wind Drum. Now backtrack and on the way you will meet some
more characters.

At one point, you'll meet the Dark-Shine Knight, who'll tell you that
an evil infiltrated the Dragon Hole and assassinated their leader, the
Dragon Emperor.

After that, the knight kills Koren, and will soon disappear himself,
because he was brought back to life by the Dragon Emperor (Note: This
will not happen on this quest if you picked Duran/Angela).

Continuing on, you'll meet Bigieu. It seems that the Dark Prince
sacrificed himself to bring the Dark Mana Stone out of another dimension,
and that with the Sword of Mana, he could be revived. But the same evil
that killed the Dragon Emperor sealed the Prince in the nether world.
Bigieu, who loved the Prince, kills Jagan, and then takes her life as
well. (Note: This will not happen if Hawkeye/Lise is your main character).

At the entrance you will find Koren and the Dark-Shine Knight. Call Flammie
and get out of here. Head to Altena, near the snowfields (only if you are
Duran/Angela). If you are Kevin/Carlie, go to the Beast Kingdom, if you
are Hawkeye or Riesz, then go to Navarre Castle. (East of Sand City Sultan
and North of Oasis Village Deen)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Altena (Duran/Angela)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Land in the town of Altena, and buy new weapons and stuff that you
need. Level-building area is North..... When you are done, head up
through the middle archway, where the two people are standing.

Go North through the left door. Go North. Go South through the second
door from the left. Go up the stairs, go North, go North, go North
through the center door, go North through the right door. The Red
Magician, Koren, will be in this room.

Watch the scene, and the nice/NOT story that the faerie tells you
about the mana stones and the beasts that have been released. Now head
to Rolante.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Beast Kingdom (Kevin/Carlie) Thanks to Amar Kishan for this part!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The enemies here are hard. Level up quite a bit here. Go North,
North-East, East, South, West, South, South, North. After the scene,
go North and follow that path. Talk to the Beast King, listen and
then head on Flammie to Rolante.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Navarre (Hawkeye, Riesz)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fly Flammie near the Valley of Scorching Heat, and land near the big
castle. Go up, up, and you should be outside again. Go into the 1st
door you see for a goddess.
Now head to the North-East. Enter. Go up, and up again. Head up the
right stairway, and follow that path to the door/stairs at the end.
Head up through the middle door, up again, and take the door on the
left. Now head up, down the stairs and into a confrontation with
Bigieu. Watch the story, and head to Rolante to beat the first Mana
Beast. Or whichever beast you want. Any order's fine, read below.

*********************************************************************
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FIGHT THESE BEASTS IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER!
*********************************************************************

From Algenin

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Wind Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Rolante is the Eastern-Most red dot. Head back up to where you got
Jinn, through the Corridor of Wind, etc. (read the previous parts).
Build up to 25+ here, and save at the golden goddess before entering the
place
where the Mana Stone used to exist. Now head right and Flammie will
be called, so you can fight Danguard.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Danguard
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This battle is really cool, as the views change from over head to
something like a side view. This Wind Beast is very easy though, if
you use Gnome's spells. If you have Diamond Saber, cast it, and if you
don't, pound him constantly as well as healing. After you take off 1/4
of his life, the view will change, and once this has happened three
times, you're close to beating him......

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fire Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fly to Oasis Village Deen (near the Valley of Flames). Buy new stuff,
then head to the Valley of Flames. An excellent place to build levels,
close to 30 since the enemies are tougher. Head to the golden goddess
(mentioned before), and then go North, South-East, North-West, North,
East twice, South, and East three times. Now go East, South, East,
and North-East to fight Xan Bie, the Fire Mana Beast.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Xan Bie
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Another extremely easy boss. Cast Ice Sabers on your party if possible,
as he will use Flame Saber on you. He has multiple forms, and when he
is in the floating fire form, you cannot harm him with physical
attacks. If you have Angela and Ice Smash, this is easy, if you have
Ice Saber, this is easy, if not, then it will be very hard and painful.
(Here come the blisters :) )

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ice Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fly back to the Labyrinth of Ice Walls. Land, go left. Buy stuff from
the two cats and go into the long, hard, level-building-opportunity
corridor. Go North, South-West, North-West, North-West, North-East,
North, North, East, South, and North-East. Save and level up until
32+. (34 recommended) From the save, go South, South-East, and North.
Now fight Fiegmund.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fiegmund
---------------------------------------------------------------------

He will keep jumping to the ledge below and back up top. Use Fire Saber,
and fire spells. He will use magic, so heal constantly. Once he is at
the bottom, use all your fire spells and some items may work too. He
will be dead quite soon.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Moon Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fly to Moonlight City Mintos and head to the Moonlight Tower. It is a
maze inside there, with plenty of enemies. From inside, go North-West,
up the stairs, South, North-East, up the stairs, South, South-West,
up the stairs, South, and North-East. A golden goddess! Build up to
34+, (36 HIGHLY recommended) and from the save, go South, North-West,
up, South, North-East, up, South, North-West, up, South, North-East,
up, South, North-West, up, South, North-East, up, South, North-West,
up, South, and North-East (lower platform). Another golden goddess.
(You'll need it) Go South, and North through the central passage.
Time to fight Dolan, the Moon Mana Beast.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dolan
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is HARD. Very HARD. It took me ages to beat it, using a
combination of spells (anything works), healing and hiding in the
corner :-0 Anyway, if you have Dryad magic, use it (Leaf Saber), as
it works extremely well. If not, use Jinn's powers as they are quite
effective. Hang in there, be patient and don't get scared. (Dark Force
works good too)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Earth Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Fly to the Molebear Highlands. You should land in a part where there
is only a path to the left. Follow it to the North, North again, East,
North-West, into the hole and West twice. Those two cats are selling
stuff again, and you'll probably need it as you head to the Valley of
Gemstone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Valley of Gemstone
---------------------------------------------------------------------

As usual, a brilliant place to build up levels. 35+ is great (37 for
me), and Jinn's magic will do quite well. Go South twice, East thrice,
South-West, West twice, South-East, East, South, and West. Now use
the golden goddess as a good healer to gain levels. Go East, East,
South, West twice, and South. Go West to fight Land Umber.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Land Umber
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Jinn's attacks (Thunder Saber, Wind Blast, THUNDER JUTSU) work quite
well here, and you should concentrate on using them. If not, just pump
him with your most powerful spells, keep healing and he should be dead
easy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Light Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Head to the dot West of Rolante.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ancient Ruins of Light
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Land, go East, North-West, West, North-East, North twice, South-East, East,
South, East, and North. After killing the monsters, read the note. Now go
back down. Talk to the left tablet, and use Wisp. Talk to the right, and use
Shade. Now go South through the passage. Go West, North, East, North, and
North-West. Save, and go North to face Lightgazer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lightgazer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not too hard with the Chibikko Hammer on hand. Have Tinkle
Rain or Stardust Herbs also, as he turns you into moogles. Have a
saber apart from Saint with you as well, as he will cast it on you to
try and gain life. Use dark spells, Dark Saber if possible, and
remember to heal often. If you're turned into a moogle, use the
Chibikko Hammer TWICE. A very easy battle if you have any skill at all.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dryad Mana Beast
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, in the earlier revisions I left this out! Go to the Ice
continent, Altena, and fly East of that. Find a small patch to land in,
named
the Forest of Wonder. Land. The enemies here are nice and easy, and
you still should be able to gain some good levels. You should be level
36-38. Go West, North-East, North, East, North-East, West, West, West
and use the golden goddess, North-East, East, East and East.
You are now at Mispolm, the Dryad Mana Beast.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mispolm
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is kinda' hard. Level 36+ is recommended. Use Jinn's spells
(Thunder Saber, Air Blast, Thunder Jutsu, etc.) for an easier time of this.
The stupid plants at the side may do HEAPS of damage every now and
then, so keep healed. Pound him with those spells and attacks, and he
should be gone. Soon. Hopefully.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Darkness Stone
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Head to Pedan, the remaining dot on the map, (in the South-Western
part of the map) and land in the clearing nearby. Inside, from the
clearing where you land, go South, North-East, and North into the
solitary building. Read the note on the wall, and go to sleep.

Wake up, and exit the building. You are now in Pedan. Go to the
armor store (East) for armor. Forget the weapons as you will soon be able to
get the best in the game. Then go into a central building. The man
will read a tablet telling you of the Masked Mage (Death Jester's
master). Also, speak to the Mana Stone Guru, in the western part of
town. He says that the Dark Mana Stone should be somewhere nearby.
Other people speak of a Dragon's Hole in the Glass Desert(for Duran/Angela),
a Mirage Palace in the Jungle of Illusion (Kevin/Carlie), and a Palace
of Darkness in the Cave of Darkness (Hawkeye/Riesz). Stay in Pedan,
and level up to 38. Then wait until night, and fight the Boulder enemies
(purple balls with one eye). You will receive a treasure chest after that,
most likely containing a ???? seed. Get 6-10, and head to the Pedan Inn
nearby.

Plant them in the chest inside the Inn, and you will receive a class change
item. These are the items and respective classes:

Head up to the white goddess, talk to it and use your item. Ta-da! Your
final class change.

*NOTE*

You've gotta take the item out of storage first, duh! To do this, hit
START, and the storage menu will come up. Exchange your class change
item with another item that you don't need in your item ring, and then
you can use it at the goddess. Ok?

Now head to your final area.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
FINAL AREAS
---------------------------------------------------------------------

DURAN/ANGELA

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Glass Desert
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This one will be a huge island somewhere in the North-West corner. Go
North, North, North, North, North, West, South-West, East, East,
North up the sand, East around the block, North, West, North, North
and don't enter the cave yet. You are now at the Darkness Mana stone.
Stock up holy items, healing items, and so forth, as the battle is a
long one........

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Zable-Fahr
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A very tough boss. Use Saint Saber straight away if you have it, if
not, Moon or Leaf, if not, anything but Dark. Now concentrate on one
head, and when it is dead, start on the other. (Uhhhhh.....: Split-Image
Slice
helped greatly here) Heal whenever you get lower than 300. Once you
think the second one is about dead, heal up to full as another head
will come out and regenerate them. (Uhhhhh.....: Don't use Split-Image Slice
once the new head comes out) Now just unload all attacks on the
new head while healing, and using holy magic spells. Once it casts
Hell Cross again, you're close to beating it. Once it dies, the others
go too. (Uhhhhh.....'s Note: Don't go for any of the others besides the
middle one,
because if you kill it, the middle one will cast Hell Cross for it also.
You could possibly get 4 Hell Crosses at you instead of just 2!)

After some interesting storyline, you will go out and into the next
part of the Desert. Go East. Use the Goddess, and go North, and then
East. You will now enter the Dragon's Hole.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragon's Hole
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow! Another boss straight up, the Dark-Shine Knight, who is Duran's
father in spirit. (I just have to say that this game has one of the
best storylines of any RPG ever!). Bla bla, join the Dark side Luke...
I mean Duran! Now you will have to fight him with somber music in the
background.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark-Shine Knight
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hard. Has all the techs of Duran's Dark classes. Holy Ball/Saint Beam
is a great help here, along with Saint Saber. Always keep healed as he
uses techs one after another after another after another..... he could
kill you in one shot. If you have Riesz/Hawk, either up your stats or
lower his stats. A tough boss, but you will get him in the end.

A Tip from Suqian

Hi, I read your walk through for Seiken Densetsu 3 and I thought I'd
tell you a Strategy for beating the Dark-shine Knight.
Wrong! There's just no English translated cartridge)
you can manipulate what the Dark-Shine Knight does by using save states
(ZSNES). so you can hit him with spells and get no counter-attacks.

Sniff sniff, thank you for releasing me Duran, bla bla (storyline is a
little like Star Wars. Luke, good, Luke's Father, evil, maybe they'll
make a Seiken Densetsu: The Mana Menace. May the force be with you......).

Go North, West, North, and East. You are in a room with a gray
headless goddess, who will save for you. Go East, East and go North.
Go West, and you will fight Tzenker again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tzenker
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a snap, especially if you have Angela and her spells. Hit it
when it is in the South-Eastern corner. Use Gnome's spells, and if
you bought anything at Byzel (Earth Coins, etc.) use those.

Go back East, and South.

Walk South and go West. Go South, East, East, South, South, and East.
Save at the goddess. Go back West, South, West, and West. Here you
will fight Jewel Eater again.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jewel Eater
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This boss is quite hard. You cannot dodge his attacks, so just keep
attacking him and healing.

Go back South. Go East, North, East, and save at the goddess.

Go East, South, West and go North. Here you will fight Full Metal
Hagger.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Full Metal Hagger
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Aim for the eyes and soon it will be dead. Heal with Round Drops as
needed (also remember the green bar technique). You shouldn't die.
(From Uhhhhh.....If you do, you should seriously consider taking up
playing with Tinker Toys. :) (Magus: WHAT'S WRONG WITH TINKER TOYS?)
(Uhhhhh.....: No comment ^_^)

After you kill him go back South. Go up the stairs in the South-East
corner of this area. Go West, and save.

Go West, North, West, West, South, South, South, East, North, and North.
Koren, the Red Wizard will be here. Now he will blabber on, say some
stuff, and you will have to fight some dragons. Go back South to a whole
different area. Go South, and save.

Go West, West, North and go East. Go East, North and you will be inside
a castle. Go North, and kill all the enemies in this room. There are
plenty, so keep healed. After you kill them all go North. The Red
Magician, Koren, is here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Koren
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Uses extremely powerful elemental spells on all of your party, which
can deal heaps of damage if he casts three in a row. Keep healed, and
don't use magic. Whack him physically. It will be a long battle, but
you will win.

Note: If you want to fight the Black Rabite now, refer to the Tips
section.

You must now go to the Mana Holyland to prevent the Dragon Emperor
from cutting down the Mana tree.
Go down and save your game. Call Flammie and go to the dot near the
center of the map to go up to the Holyland.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Holyland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a maze here, level up as high as you can. I'd say 80+ is VERY
GOOD, but not necessary. Don't go to extremes (99) as it is a major
waste of your time. :) 45 to 50 is acceptable. Go North, West, North,
East, East, North, North, West, North, North, West, North and save.

Good place to level up here....Go East, North, and West. Kill all the
enemies in this area, so that you can go on. Go West, North and go
West. Go North, East, and East. Walk across the logs to get to the
Mana Tree. Now you shall face your final foe, the DRAGON EMPEROR.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragon Emperor
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh my....what a boss. But he's still quite easy. As usual, keep
healed. He will change colors throughout the battle, signifying a new
weakness to an element. If he starts using an elemental spell, use one
of the opposite (Holy-Dark, Earth-Wind, Fire-Ice, Moon-Leaf).
Death Spell deals a nice amount of damage too (999, yeah!). When the
music changes, that's the halfway mark, and soon you will have
finished the game!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
HAWKEYE/RIESZ
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Cave of Darkness

Gee, too bad for you as you have just picked the toughest bosses.
Anyway, should have told you at the start. (Oops! ^_^) But, you have
the most interesting final area.
Moving right along, fly to the Darkness Cave, the big North-Eastern
island. It should have flashing dots. Moving along now....Once you
enter the cave, it will be bright and turn PITCH black. So pause,
and turn your TV/monitor's brightness right up, as it will be easier.
That's what I did. Ok, level up a little, 39 or 40 is good. Now, go
West, North, North, East, and North. Now head North-West, and before
entering keep everyone healed...'cause the Darkness Beast is
comin'....

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Zable-Fahr
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmm... very tough. Cast Saint Saber if you can and let Hawk do all
the attacking. By the way, unless you are Nightblade, it would be
better just to use your tech attack when the bar is green as he hits
twice for more damage. Nightblade is an exception, his Split-Image
Slice is really the best tech ever (my opinion). Otherwise, Death Spell
works nice and be ready to heal. Once you kill both heads, one in the
middle will appear. Stop everything, and get ready to heal as all the
other heads regenerate and the middle one casts Hell Cross. Ouch. Heal
now and focus all of your attacks on the middle head. Pound it and
get ready for one more Hell Cross before it dies. (Ouch!) (Uhhhhh.....: If
you kill any of the other heads they will cast a Hell Cross)

Now go West, South, South, up the stairs, and North. Enter the door
and save. Go East about three screens and touch the statue to turn on
the lights. YEAH! Now go back one screen, go South down the stairs,
and into the West door. Now go South, fall down a hole and fight Jagan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Jagan
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Level 41+ is recommended. Brings along a Bloody Wolf and Carmilla
Queen. Damn. You have to kill them as well. Damn. Jagan will cast
Death Spell often so look out. Use it on him and his sidekicks. Kill
the sidekicks first, and then take Jagan out with fire attacks, flame
saber, Hawk's attacks/spells, Lise's stat changers, just everything on
Jagan. This is hard, and you should win if you don't run out of Honey
Jars, Angel Grails or Magic Walnuts. Good luck.

After that you will end up back in the first part of the cave. Go North,
North-West, West through the Darkness Stone place, South, South, up the
stairs and North. Save, go East and go up the ice trail in the middle.
Defeat the enemies, and go North-East. Go North, North and save. Go
East, East and North. Enter the Darkness Castle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Darkness Castle
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This place looks extremely cool, as if someone's been polishing the
floors. :-) Go either left or right. You MUST defeat all the enemies
to lower the fire barriers (on one side only). That includes the enemy
in the room two screens from the start. Now, head up the stairs, and
press the skull to open the door below. Head back to the lower floor
and enter that door. Go North, East, East, South, save, up the stairs,
left, left, in the middle door, and up to the throne. Fall, and you will
face Full Metal Hagger.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Full Metal Hagger
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Aim for the eyes and soon it will be dead. Heal with Round Drops as
needed (also remember the green bar technique). You shouldn't die.
(From Uhhhhh.....If you do, you should seriously consider taking up
playing with Tinker Toys. :) (Magus: WHAT'S WRONG WITH TINKER TOYS?)
(Uhhhhh.....: No comment ^_^)

Now go South, East (near where the light is shining), South, South-East,
and defeat all the enemies. Now go to the left of the caged door and
press A. The door will open. Many rooms are like this, so watch out.
Go in the door, West, South, West, South, South, South, open the door
as noted above, and fight Genova.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Genova
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hate this boss as it spits out Shape-Shifters which keep
changing forms when they "die". Let your other two characters deal
with them, while you keep hitting Genova. If they get hurt bad, help
them, and cure as needed. Remember that once Genova dies, the shifters
die too.

Now go North three times, East, up the stairs, West, South to save,
if not, up the stairs, South, and fight Tzenker.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Tzenker
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a snap, especially if you have Angela and her spells. Hit it
when it is in the South-Eastern corner. Use Gnome's spells, and if
you bought anything at Byzel (Earth Coins, etc.) use those.

Now go West, past the blocked-off staircase, until you reach a door,
go North, down stairs, South, save and go East. Go East, North and meet
Bigieu...a battle you have waited for.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Bigieu
---------------------------------------------------------------------

EXTREMELY HARD. In fact, Hawkeye/Riesz have the hardest bosses. You
should be higher than Lv. 45, and 50+ is very good. Bigieu turns into
a cat of some sort, and goes totally psycho. (Reow! Mreow! Pffft!
Pffft! ^_^) Be careful as when she casts Moon Saber, she will do some
combo which hits for a lot and makes her gain life too. Earth works
well here, and if you have Anti-Magic, use it right after she casts
Moon Saber. Watch out for her summon, Lamia Naga, it takes the piss
out of you and poisons you, so prepare to heal. Don't use Sabers, but
lower her stats, up your stats, and use Earth magic on her. It should
be done without anyone dying...I hope. Hehehe.

One more to go....head all the way back, to the blocked-off staircase.
Now it is open, so go up on it, to meet the Dark Prince! A bunch of
conversation happens, and now you have to head to the Mana Holyland for
the final confrontation.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Holyland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a maze here, level up as high as you can. I'd say 80+ is VERY
GOOD, but not necessary. Don't go to extremes (99) as it is a major
waste of your time. :) 45 to 50 is acceptable. Go North, West, North,
East, East, North, North, West, North, North, West, North and save.

Good place to level up here....Go East, North, and West. Kill all the
enemies in this area, so that you can go on. Go West, North and go
West. Go North, East, and East. Walk across the logs to get to the
Mana Tree. Now you shall face your final foe, the Arch-Demon.

(Uhhhhh.....'s Note:Aaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
ArchDemon
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You thought all the bosses before were hard? THINK AGAIN. This boss
will have two forms, the first is a pain. It will keep changing it's
elemental powers (Fire, Dark, Earth) and before he changes again will
launch a super attack on you. Heal often, cast Deathspell if possible
(999 damage, oh yeah),and use your most powerful spells, remembering
to conserve some MP. If you run out, just let that character die and
when you revive him/her they will get full MP :-0

Dark, Moon and Earth are his most nasty elements, and you will be
glad when he changes in the middle of the battle. This is hard. Now
pound him as hard as you can, using Leaf and Moon saber if possible.
Use all your MP, techs, and heal as his super attack is quite a super
attack (HEAPS OF DAMAGE, 500 or more). Even though it may take you two
hours or so(?), it's worth it.....I think.....*>:^_^:<*.....

(Magus' Note: OKAY! TWO HOURS WAS JUST SARCASM!!! GEEZ!!! I DON'T
REALLY MEAN TWO HOURS!!! IT ONLY TOOK ME 25 MINUTES!!!!)
(Uhhhhh.....: We were hoping)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

KEVIN/CARLIE

You have the easiest task of getting to your final area, it's right
next to Pedan!

From Michael Guthrie:

-I found something you didn't add in your FAQ. In the Jungle of
Illusion the path will not be revealed unless you talk to the guy in
the top left house in Peden. He will say he might of found the Dark
Mana Stone in the Jungle of Illusion. Then the path will be revealed.

See the entrance to the Jungle of Illusion? Go West, follow the
river North, North-West after that, and speak to the headless statue.
Use Dryad, and a path to your South will appear. Save and restore at
the statue, then go South. Go East, and you'll probably hear a click.
That just means you are going the right way. Go North, West, South,
West, West, North, and restore at the statue. Stock your items, as
you'll be facing the Darkness Mana Beast when you head North. If you
have Kevin, I suggest you wait until it's night (or use a Dreamsee
Herb) as his attacks are much more powerful at night.
Here we go.....(groan)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Zable-Fahr
---------------------------------------------------------------------

A very tough boss. Use Saint Saber straight away if you have it, if
not, Moon or Leaf, if not, anything but Dark. Now concentrate on one
head, and when it is dead, start on the other. (Split-Image Slice helps
here) Heal whenever you get lower than 300. Once you think the second
one is about dead, heal up to full as another head will come out and
regenerate them, PLUS cast Hell Cross (Ouch!). (Uhhhhh.....'s Note: Don't
use Split-Image Slice anymore) Now just unload all
attacks on the new head while healing, and using holy magic spells.
Once it casts Hell Cross again, you're close to beating it. Once it
dies, the others go too.

After, a treasure chest will appear. Open it and get the Illusion
Mirror. If you are desperate, head back to Pedan for an item re-stock.
Only if you really need them. Head back to Zable-Fahr's lair, and go
South, South, West, North, North and save at the statue. Build up to
about 40-41+. Now, from the statue, go South, West, North, and North.
You'll be asked something, use the Illusion Mirror. And then Death
Jester will appear! Whoop his ass! (pretty please <_>)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Death Jester
---------------------------------------------------------------------

He is extremely annoying. He'll divide into three, and it's up to you
to guess the right one....sigh *_* What I did was cast Leaf and Moon
Sabers on my party, even though I don't think they helped much, but
try it. You've gotta hit the right one, and I suggest using just weapons
for this battle. Only the real Death Jester will take some damage,
and after a while, he'll change his position again. Annoying, but
you'll get through.

After you beat him, a path will appear to the North. Now, I suggest
going back to stock up on healing items, especially Angel Grails, and
once you have, come back, and enter the path to the Mirage Palace.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mirage Palace: Part 1
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go North, speak to the priest dude, then head North-West and North.
Speak to the skeleton to save.

Ok, when I was here, I needed help, so I will be taking the same
directions as Amar did.

There'll be six paths. And six orbs. Once you do a certain thing on
each path, the orb will light up, and when all of them are lit, you
can head to the North path. I think that's how it works.

The first path to take is the one heading to the South-West. From
there on my notes get a little scribbled, so I think it's North-East,
West, South twice and South-East. BTW, I ran through the enemies because
I was rushing to get this on the walkthrough, you do what you want. Open
the treasure chest there, and return to the hall. One of the orbs should
be lit, which means you're on the right track.

Next, go West. On this path I found out that sometimes I needed to kill
enemies to get past, or was I just blind? Go North, North-East, into
the middle and North. You'll fight Genova.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Genova
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hate this boss as it spits out Shape-Shifters which keep
changing forms when they "die". Let your other two characters deal
with them, while you keep hitting Genova. If they get hurt bad, help
them, and cure as needed. Remember that once Genova dies, the shifters
die too.
Then return to the hall, save, etc.

Now go North-West, and go North twice. Then I think you're supposed to
go back South, but somehow you should end up at...Astoria? WTF?!?!?!?!
Speak to everyone and leave (North). You should face a Ghost.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ghost
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you spell easy? (My friend can't, he thinks it's ea-z) (Uhhhhh.....:
He's not talking about me I hope ^_^) Just use
a Saint Saber on everyone, or Holy Ball/Saint Beam him to death.

Return to the hall and go East, then North-East to face Gildervine.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gildervine
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Be on 23 or higher. This is a snap, a synch, and pretty much a waste
of time. :) Just attack and use techs to win.
There's a tactic to beat him, it's in the tips section I think.
Anyway, beat him and return.

Go South-East, and then to the North-East. Now this is wacked, you'll
keep on warping and warping and warping and warping...you get the idea.
There'll be enemies everytime you warp, so look out. Once the warping
fun (Uhhhhh.....: Fun?!?! What fun?!?!) stops, return to the hallway.

Go North-East. Smash all of the enemies, go up the stairs and flip
the switch. Enter the door below, head North, North-East, North-West,
North, North, North-East, North-West, North, North, North-East and
North-West. Gee, all North directions, I may have got a couple mixed
up there. :) From there on, go North-East, and North. After this,
head back to the main hall, speak to the skull and get the middle door
opened. Save, 'cause this is tough.

Head North thrice (I hardly ever use that word), and you'll be thrown
into a full-on battle royale where everyone hates you. Yes, it's a
room you cannot escape from until you kill the mass overload of
enemies. Extremely time consuming, but good levels. When done, head
North, and into the REAL Mirage Palace. "Real" meaning inside.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mirage Palace: Part 2
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Go North twice, and save at the headless goddess. Head South, and
make sure the switch is pointing down. Then go to the East and to
the North, and you should see two switches. Flip the left one down
and the right one up. Head on North, then to stairs in the South-East,
and to your West. Flip the switch, and head back on your way to the
goddess. On the way, you'll enter a room with a bridge in it, and I
suggest saving before continuing over the bridge.

Once over the bridge, I think you walk through a part of a wall. My
notes here say "walk. up. wall." so, I think that's it. Teleport.
West. Gorva. Go back, look guide beat him. No, that type of writing
only suits notes. >^_^<

Head on West, into the teleporter, and then South, across the balcony
and North-East. If you have Kevin, make sure it is night, you'll want
it that way, then head through the North-East portal. You'll be in a
throne room, and see an unpleasant scene. You'll go after the Masked
Mage, but good ol' Heath stands in your way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Heath
---------------------------------------------------------------------

With Kevin a werewolf, this is nice. But hard. DO NOT USE SABERS!!!
They f-ed me up big time, so look out. If you have Hawk as a
Nightblade, then his Black Rain/Split-Image Slice comes in handy.
Otherwise, use Charlotte to heal and use Tinkle Rain, plus the
occasional Holy Ball. If you have Kevin, hit him with Level 1 techs,
and heal if you can. Otherwise, good luck.

Follow the story? Good, 'cause now you're gonna face the Masked Mage
himself. Use all your seeds, stock up on items, and fly away! To the
Mana Holyland. (Drum roll)

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Mana Holyland
---------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a maze here, level up as high as you can. I'd say 80+ is VERY
GOOD, but not necessary. Don't go to extremes (99) as it is a major
waste of your time. :) 45 to 50 is acceptable. Go North, West, North,
East, East, North, North, West, North, North, West, North and save.

Good place to level up here....Go East, North, and West. Kill all the
enemies in this area, so that you can go on. Go West, North and go
West. Go North, East, and East. Walk across the logs to get to the
Mana Tree. Now you shall face your final foe, the Dark Lich.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Lich
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I say VERY easy. He succumbs to Holy spells, of course, so cast Saint
Sabers and use the occasional Holy Ball. If you have Kevin, you'll
really whip his arse (don't even ask what that means +_+) with the
Saint Saber, trust me, and heal after Ancient or Hell Cross. For a
final boss, very easy.

From Pokem10065:
Hey again.
I have no idea what is the name but when he
casts it, it looks like a galaxy and you are caught in a meteor
shower!!!! That spell nearly killed my party.

From MegaMew812-
The name of Dark Lich's spell that is stronger than Ancient is Death
Ecstasy. You also have to heal after that is casted. It shows a galaxy
and you're are attacked by meteors.

Good work! Watch the ending now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
8)Beat the Black Rabite (Link only)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
If you picked Duran/Angela on your quest, you can meet the one and
only.....BLACK RABITE!!!!!!?!!!!

Yes, you heard me, the BLACK RABITE!!!!!!!

Anyway, when you are in the Dragon Hall, after you have defeated Koren,
head North-West of the Black Knight's room as far as you can. You'll
end up walking down a empty vertical corridor. (Follow it South and
if you see a ramp where you can go down but not up, you're here).
Anyway, push on the wall on the left, and meet................the
BLACK RABITE!

*********************************************************************
I have now taken down this section, as I just found out that the
so-called "I'll take no credit for the info" giver has JUST BEEN
SCAMMING OFF OTHER PEOPLE! THEY DON'T LIKE IT, I DON'T LIKE IT, SO
ROHAN KERRY, I HOPE YOU BURN IN SOME BAD PLACE! (Uhhhhh.....: We all know
where that is. [grins evilly] Magus, how about we help him along? J/K)

To MuskKitty, whose info was stolen, sorry. Very sorry. So since of
that, there's probably not gonna be a Black Rabite guide...check out
Musk Kitty's at GameFAQs. Sorry to all, and to MuskKitty. But Rohan
Kerry, oh man, you're goin' down!!!

11) FAQ
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Send all questions to shinra9@yahoo.com, or my ICQ #: 34601221.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How do you cast spells?

A. Bring up the item screen (usually X), and press down to bring up
your magic list. Select a spell and a target, and press A to cast it.
To change to a different character's item/spell ring, press L or R.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How do I change classes? And can I change after Level 38?

A. First you need to have your characters on level 18+ for the first
change, and level 38+ for the second. Then you need to find a mana
stone, talk to it and you will change. For your second change, you
need to fight enemies for a ???? seed, plant it, go to the Mana
Holyland and class change using the white goddess statue there.
Yes, you can change at any level past Level 38, so don't worry.

And one more thing I forgot to mention, head into storage (detailed in
a Q below) and place your newly acquired item in your item ring, then
you can use it at the statue.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. With the ???? seeds, when I plant them, I keep getting the same
item! I keep going back to get more and more, and the same thing.
Could you tell me what is wrong?

A. Ok, this one's a toughie. If you're using an emulator, it's easier.
Grab your seeds, and save before planting them. Plant one, and then
if you like it, save. If you don't, load and try it again. Also switch
your lead character, it helps. Otherwise, you'll have to resort to
hacking. There is a hacking guide out there somewhere, I'll try and
grab a link for it, and it will teach you how to get the items you
want. And by loading and saving, I mean at save points, not states
(sorry for any confusion, especially you Mike).

And from Howard Shen:

For the ???? seeds, sometimes no matter how many times you reset it,
it will always give you the same thing. The key is to get a bunch of
seeds, 5 is a good number. Just take the first item, and sometimes the
second item is something you might want. The more seeds you have, the
more you can plant at once. They'll usually go through a cycle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Where's Judd/Jad?

A. They are both the same. Different patches have different
translations. Same with a couple of other cities, if they look the
same, then they probably are the same (Cerbokkle-Corobokkle,
Byzel-Bayzel, Maiya-Maia, etc.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How do I use techs?

A. Whenever you are in battle, take a look at the flashing meter
underneath your HP. If you hit the enemy enough, it will go to green,
and then press B for a Level 1 tech. When it reaches yellow, press B
for a Level 2 attack, and red for a Level 3 attack. After you use the
tech, the bar resets.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. For Kevin, it says that I've got two techs, e.g Whirlwind Kick and
Tornado
Throw. I can use the first one but not the second, how do I use the
second one? When he's computer controlled he pulls it off.

A.Ok, thanks to Amar (again), he said that it's just a second tech
which he pulls off randomly. How random, he does not know.

And this from Pokem10065:

I personally think it is only random since when it became a wolf it
did a throw and when he reverted during the day he also did a throw.

From Shanku:

O well here's the tips / reply to the question how to use the 2nd skills
move thing: If you want to have a group attack.. Then just face the
opposite way of the enemies. if you want Kevin to throw the enemy,
then face it! :P

Simple huh?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I'm in the Glass Desert, followed all your directions, and I end up
going around in circles! Help please....

A.Okay, once you get to the part where you go UNDER the bridge, head
up. You should be in a screen where you passed before, the one after
you crossed the bridge. It has a sand waterfall thingy right below
you... just go up and around the rock there.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I'm trying to equip another character with weapons, but I can't do
it!

A.Go into the menu screen (X), and go to the weapon screen (top right).
Press SELECT to change the character.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I've got *this person* at *this level* and I haven't learnt any magic
yet. Why?

A.It basically depends on what level your Intelligence, Agility,
Vitality, etc. is. Soon I'll create a chart telling you what level
these have to be for you to learn a spell. If I can.

From Pokem10065:

If your levels are too high, before you fight the certain spirit, you
won't have those spells. Like me at level 53 before Salamando. (Note
from Magus: 53? Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

From Uhhhhh.....
Hawk's Agility has to be 14 or 15 to learn his "Shuriken" move, then
after that, every time you raise it, you should learn a new spell....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I just changed all my guys into their 3rd classes and while I was
finding the seeds I got some Weapon/Armor seeds
I planted them as a Nightblade and got 2 things for Hawk
1. A Ragnarok Weapon
2. A Master's Armor
They are both for Hawk but if I try to equip them it just doesn't let
me.. So I figured I'd sell them but when I selected them to sell they
started glowing so I hesitated. What do I do? How to equip?

A. What you need to do is to first, save, and then plant the seeds.
Find out what they give, and then work out who they belong to (if it's
not in another FAQ, I'll put it up here soon). Then reset, remember
the order of the seeds, and put the person who the thing belongs to in
front, so they can plant it.

This from David:

You *can* exchange armor, weapons, etc. between characters in the game,
hit menu, and trade weapons in the top-center menu screen.

And from Howard Shen:

When planting weapon/armor seeds, there's no reason to change front
characters. To exchange equipment, just go to the menu by pressing Y,
press up to go to the INV option and hit A. You can now move weapons,
armor, helmets, rings, and shields between characters.

From Suqian:

Ragnarok Weapon and Master's Armor are for Duran, not Hawkeye. if
Hawkeye planted them, then they are in Hawkeye's Possession. You can
give them to Duran by using the inventory.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Help, I'm in Pedan and I've talked to everyone (I think). I'm
heading off to my final destination but the path is blocked! Help!

A. Okay, there should be someone in the town who speaks of a Dark
Monster at whatever place. After that you should be fine.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I'm at the Volcanic Island. I've gotten up to the part where you
have to talk to the rock and use Gnome...but a question mark just
comes up! Help please!

A. Um, first of all you need the Gnome spirit. But you've got that, if
you've been reading this whole walkthrough. Second, you've gotta talk
to all of the Dark Priests. Ok? Thanks partially to Casey the
"ah Hawk....Come on...Angela is WAY hotter than Jessica!!!!". Um....

And from Pokem100065:
On Volcanic Island Bucca one in order to use Gnome on the rock you
have to talk to the Dark Priest in the village. I think it is the one
on the lower right hand corner next to the guy who sells armor(??).
(Uhhhhh.....'s Note: It's next to the guy who sells weapons)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I was just wondering if there was something wrong with my ROM
because everytime I'm in the Moonlight forest its pitch black with
blue clouds and it's hard to find my way around.

A. Well, it's your video card I think. If you are using ZSNES, press
either 1 to 5 on the keyboard to change the transparencies. Then press
6 to change them back to normal.

And from Xerain:
Rather than turning off the offeneding background using ZSNES, it is
better to change the video mode. Go under config and select video.
Put it to one of the 16B settings.
Use the 640x480x16B VESA2 setting, and if it runs slow, use the
320x240x16B VESA2 for similar effects, but lower resolution.

These are general ZSNES tips for all Roms. I am aware you may know
them (If you even use the rom, that is), but your readers may not. If
I come up with any more tips I'll be sure to let you know.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I just changed classes in SoM2 and tried to cast magic but I
couldn't. I did everything that your FAQ said to do but every time
I went to the items screen and pushed down but it never went to the
magic screen. What should I do?

A. Firstly you need to have learnt magic. Only Angela and
Carlie/Charlotte have magic before their first class change. Ok? You
learn magic by gaining levels.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I'm playing with Lise as my main character, and Hawk and Duran as
my secondary characters. I just finished chasing Koren out of Forcena,
and listened to the king tell me to get the wind thing. The problem is
that whenever I go to talk to Bon Jour he says that his cannon isn't
finished yet. I've tried talking to everyone everywhere I can get to.
I tried going back to the Cleft of The Earth, which amounts to nothing.
I've tried going all the way back to the left through the Molebear
Highland and trying to see if there was something I could do there.
Then I go back to the castle and Bon Jour still says that his cannon
isn't set up yet.

A. There will be a woman in the town of Forcena, who will tell you
that the cannon is ready. She's in a house in the South-Western part
of Forcena. Just talk to everyone around there until you find her.
(Uhhhhh.....: She will say something like, "There is a huge cannon set up in
the
courtyard. I wonder what it is for?")

From Phil Horkin:
There will be a woman in the town of Forsena, who will tell you that
the cannon is ready. She's in the first house on the left. Go talk to
her. A floor above her is a guy who talks about duran's father.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. If Duran becomes a Swordmaster, can he still carry a shield?

A. No. Only Light Classes can carry shields, but the Swordmaster is
probably his best class.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.How do you get Weapon/Armor seeds? I've managed to get two, but is
there a specific bad guy that has them? Also, what is the best shield
for Duran? And is there one in a Weapon/Armor seed?

A. They do come from specific bad guys, Great Rabites. It depends on
the last enemy you kill in an area if you get a Weapon/Armor seed.
Kill the Great Rabite(s) last, save state, and if you don't get a
Weapon/Armor seed, open state until you get one. To me, there is no
best shield as there's only one for each class past the Light stage.
Yes, I believe you do find it in a seed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.How do you learn Ninjitsu with Hawk?

A.It's like normal magic, just make sure you've had a class change and
you've got Agility and Intelligence just a bit higher than other stats.

From Uhhhhh.....
-Hawk's Agility has to be 14 or 15 to learn his "Shuriken" move, then
after that, every time you raise it, you should learn a new spell.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I recently bumped into your incredible website that dealt with the
sequel to my most favorite all time video game (The Secret of Mana).
I have look for years for the rumored sequel to the best game that I
have ever played and your website is the only information that I have
seen that stated that the Secret of Mana 2 is on SNES. It would be
forever in your debt if you would be so kind as to reply to this e-mail
and tell me how I could get a hold on this gem. Money matters not. Thank
you again for your time and patience to read this plea.

Magus: Hey, whoever sent this!!! Please e-mail me again so I can give
you a place where you can find it! Hold on, it's below....

A.Well, if you live in Japan it should be easy. But SD3 was never
released outside Japan. So it's hard to find one, try an Internet
search engine, Amazon.com, but I'm not too sure if they have SNES games
on there, try an auction site. Otherwise, just grab the ROM like I did.
Or, get the REAL Seiken Densetsu. See, Secret of Mana was Seiken 2,
Secret 2 is Seiken 3, so the first Seiken is either FF Mystic Quest or
FF1 on NES. There's two different opinions I've read. Anyway, good luck.

From Razorclaw X:
For your Frequently Asked Questions section the first Seiken Densetsu
was the Gameboy game released in the US as Final Fantasy Adventure.

From DD:

I got the cart from a game store in New York.
Store Name: PENGUIN VILLAGE
Address: Elizabeth Center, unit # 21(Basement)
              13 - 17 Elizabeth street, New York, NY 10013
Phone & Fax # : 212-219-3768

They got both import and US games, for all systems. Not sure if they
still have any SNES games. Anyway you can check it out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. How do you get items out of storage?

A. Well, first of all I'll explain the system. If you have more of 9
of one item or your item ring is full, the leftovers go into storage.
Hit START to enter storage. The left column is the item ring, the
right is your storage. To exchange, select the one on the left to
the one you want to exchange to on the right. To restock just select
the one on the left, and the item with the same name on the right.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Ok now, I bought a shield at Elrand City but Duran can't use it. I
don't know why. I think it's because he has to be a Knight. Well, I
dunno, so could ya plz tell me.

A.Yep, Duran has to be a Light class. Changing to the Dark side will
disable this feature, but the Dark side's better for him anyway.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Sorry again, but how do you learn Ninjitsu with Hawk? What level do
you have to be to learn some?

A.From all the e-mails I get, they always ask about Hawk. Usually after
level 20 or so you should learn them, if not, then you need to up your
Agility and Intelligence stats I think. If in doubt, save state
(emulators only) before you choose what stat to upgrade.

From Uhhhhh.....
Hawk's Agility has to be 14 or 15 to learn his "Shuriken" move, then
after that, every time you raise it, you should learn a new spell.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Hi! My name is Trevor and I play Seiken Densetsu 3 on an emulator.
I need some help!!!!! My Team is made up of Duran, Kevin, And Hawk.
Kevin is level 18 and I am at the place were the Machine Golems are
and I beat them, then I changed Kevin to the first Dark class, but I
can't get out of the SUB-ZERO Snow Field, I just keep dying. What do
I do??? What level do you recommend me being?????

A. From this all I can comprehend is that you've beaten the bosses
and can't get out. Now I suggest you build up until everyone has had
their first class change, go heal and save at the nearby Goddess, and
then RUN. Stuff the enemies, run for your life :-)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Hi Magus! I have a question and I think this is where you go right?
My question is when I used a Game Genie code to instantly level up
your guy, it made it so they leveled up without stopping. I'm at Land
Umber right now and all my guys are at level 58! I only wanted to use
the code to level up about 4 levels but that was too much and wrecks
the game. I read on this site about Game Genie Codes that there were
normal level ups and enhanced level ups. I used the enhanced and they
said you can't stop it from levelling up even if you toggle the code
off and they said the only way to stop it was to get an event?????
What's that? I hope you can answer this question because it would do
wonders for me.

A. First of all, to everyone out there, DO NOT CHEAT! This is what
happens when you do. ;) Now back to the question. An event is an
important part in the storyline (e.g defeat a Mana Beast, acquire a
spirit, get a new character, etc.). If that doesn't work, I've got one
last resort. That is if you have an emulator. Download a copy of Hex
Workshop from www.bpsoft.com, and then e-mail both
kenshou@square-haven.net and dr.seng@juno.com about their save state
hacking guides. I personally don't know how to do that well, so ask
the masters.

Obviously you will gain
more levels if you use this at the beging of the game.

eg. I took Lise at level 7 and had her fight 1 rabbite with the cheat
on. after she reached level 24 the total exp had done it's thing and
caught up and everything was back to normal.

Q.I know you can play this with 2 human-controlled people, but what
about 3?

A.I'm pretty sure you can only play with two human controlled people,
as emulator testing shows. But if someone knows how to get three human
controlled people, e-mail me at shinra9@yahoo.com.

From Uhhhhh.....: I've tried and tried, using tons of different
methods, and I guess it just wasn't programmed into the game. If
someone would hack into the game/rom, and enable the ability to have
three people play, and put the patch on the net, well, you would never
be without thanks. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I am new to the game and this is not explained on the walkthrough
to the game, how and when does your characters change to Dark/Light?

A.First, this is explained (see Class Change Section). It's at Level
18 or above, and you have to do it near a Mana Stone.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I have just started to go to the top of the sky, I have Riesz as my
main character, Hawkeye as my second, and Angela as my third, I have
changed classes
to a Delvar, Valkye...or however you spell it...and Ninja.

Two questions...
1) where can I get a nice Weapon/Armor seed?
and 2) am I at high enough levels to go on (26 on all)
...actually 3 questions... do you have a website?

A.Well, to answer all your questions...
1) No, I'm not too sure of a good place to get Weapon/Armor seeds at
Level 26. Enemies will only drop them randomly, and rarely.
2) Yes, that is an extremely good level.
3) It's http://jump.to/magus.

From Suqian:
A good place for Weapon/Armor seeds is outside the Ancient City of
Pedan. Go out at night and kill some Great Rabites. you MUST kill the
Great Rabites last and use save states to manipulate what you get in
the chests to get Weapon/Armor seeds. For Hawk to learn moves as a
Ninja/Ninja Master/Nightblade, you should only up his Agility stats.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Just wanted to know if Lise can actually multitarget any of her
Stat down skills. Can she??

A.Yes, pick her as the Fenrir Knight in your second class change.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I'm stuck in the Corridor of Wind, I keep going around in circles!

A. I've wrote that part up again, check for it in the guide.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Can you cheat without using Hex Workshop?

A. Yes, but there are only a few Game Genie codes around. Find them at
sages.ign.com.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Now I've got a question. I'm in the Mirage palace and I'm stuck at
the place with the crystal balls you have to light. I'm at the right-
top crystal ball and I keap on wandering in circles. I see a passage
above the long flight of stairs but I can't reach it because there is
a wall in between. I also see Karl on the long flight of stairs every
now and then. What am I suppose to do?

A.Uh, I think you have to speak with Karl a few times. Otherwise,
heading North will do it, like it did for me.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I've just gotten Salamando and when I try to go through the Moonlight
Forest a statue blocks my way. What to do?

A. I'm stumped, apart from have you already got the spirits up to
Luna? If not, get them, then come back. Anyone out there know? Send
in to shinra9@yahoo.com

From Don Collins
-I just forgot to get Undine. Whoops. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. My brother says I'm screwed. He thinks if I don't have Saint Saber
I won't be able to beat the God Beast of Darkness, Zable-Fahr. I have
Hawk going for Nightblade, Angela going for Rune Master, and Carlie
going for Necromancer. What do you suggest? Gain lots of levels?

A. You're a Servant of Darkness, huh? Only kidding. Usually, even
though it's too late now, you should have one character aligned to Light,
one to Dark, and the other whatever. But, it's still possible to win,
it's just that it's gonna be much DAMN harder. Yes, gain up lotsa
levels, and there's an item/s called Papa Poto's Claw, and Grand
Deviner Book which when used in battle cast Saint Saber. Good luck.

From Uhhhhh.....
If you've given your characters their second class change, then this
will be easier. Have Carlie heal, Hawk use attacks/techs/jutsus, (to
lower his stats) and Angela use her most powerful spells (besides Dark,
of course) and it actually should be extremely easy. It was for me and
I didn't use a single Light spell. Use Hawk's Thunder Jutsu/Deadly
Weapon for sure so that his (Zable-Fahr's) Defense/Max HP will be
lowered.

From RazorclawX:
Use Carlie's Black Curse spell on Zable Fahr; it reduces ALL of his
stats at once (but, since it is single-target only, you have to
individually target each head).

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I had left the Darkness Castle after running low on supplies. As
I tried to go back the way I had went (through the throne room) I
could not drop down. Also I exited the castle after defeating Full
Metal Hagger and Genova. Help.

A.Well, I for one didn't have this problem, so if anyone can help,
the address is shinra9@yahoo.com

From DragonKnightZero:
Just past the inner courtyard, there is the room where you would go right to
reach the throne room. Go left and up the stairs (they were blocked
earlier). That should put you back on track.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Where do I find Eagle at the start of Hawk's scenario?

A. From the fight with Jess, go downstairs, up through the door,
through the middle, up the stairs to the right, down, up the stairs
to the right, and take the exit down to get outside, on the right is
a set of steps leading to Eagle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Where do you get Duran's shields?

A. Shops, and Weapon/Armor seeds.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Hey. I think that your guide is #1. Anyway, back to the subject. I
am playing SD3 and I am 3 or 4 screens away from the Water Mana Stone.
I am trying to defeat the Machine Golems, got any tips?? Also, Angela,
who is at level 16, has only learnt one magic spell (Holy Ball)and I know
that
the class change is after the Golems. What is wrong?

A. First of all, the Intelligence level needs to be much higher. Then,
you should learn Evil Gate, Gem Missile, Air Blast and Fireball for
each level you go up. Get your Intelligence to about 9 or 10. Tips
for the Golems? Learn Air Blast and it's too easy. Good luck!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I was playing SOM2(SD3) and using your FAQ some, my friends who
are "purists" made fun of me (till they got stuck and I didn't) and were
telling me, the way the stat maxes go, is your char has two main
stats, and they can't be too far apart..is this true? I'm finding I can
up Hawk's Agility one level, the next level I can't, I add to Intelligence,
and
the next level Agility can go up...and it hasn't went past 18 in a LONG
time. I dont get it. me and all of my friends have tried to figure
out HOW the stat ups work, but we can't seem to figure out the way it
does..if you know, can you help?

A.Hmm...that's one theory I've never heard before. Come to think of it,
there may be two main stats, but at the moment I can't really give you
a straightforward answer. But, how your Agility cannot be upgraded,
that's because (I think, I think) you've gone too far for that certain
class, or maybe need to even out your other stats more. How exactly
the stat system works, I'm not too sure, but it's pretty innovative.

From Uhhhhh.....:
I think that all of the stats have to be within a certain number of each
other, something like five. I've been trying to figure it out too,
but.....I'll have to do that when I have more time. ^_^

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I have two questions for Seiken Densetsu 3. 1) When going to get Undine, I
am at level 17 and just arrived at the winter city with the giant
turtle thingy. I followed the directions in your guide, and when I go
West twice (right after the first go West 3 times) I can't find the
exit to the South. Is it hidden? 2) Is 17 a good level for that part
of the game, cuz its my first time playing it (I got the English
version on a ROM). Thanx.

A. Either head back one screen, forward one screen, or defeat all
monsters in the area. Second, Level 17 is an ideal level.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Hi on Seiken Densetsu 3 how can Kevin do Whirlwind Throw?

A. It's a random move. Just how random it is, I do not have the
slighest clue. It's a tech attack though, so keep using your techs.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Well, I beat the Darkshine Night and I am at the palace place and I
can't beat all the bad guys. How many are there?

A.Um, let's just say a LOT. And i mean A LOT. Keep on healing, and
if, if you run out of MP, kill that character and then revive them,
they'll get back to full HP/MP. Which is what I did. Don't be afraid
to stock up your techs to full, unless if they hit only one enemy.
And be persistent.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I also have a question: I want to try out Hawks, Angelas and
Lises Light classes, but I only want to start one more game. Can
these character survive as a team?

A.Sure...only just. Pick the Rogue, hmm...Grand Deviner and Star
Lancer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Hi,I got a question to ask you on Seiken Densetsu 3.I have Lise for
my main character, Angela as my second and Carlie as my third. And now I am
at
"Free City Maia". Well, I am supposed to get the gunpowder to work the
cannon for going to Forcena and I did. I gave this to the cannon's inventor
(Bon Voyage)
and he said I can use it. The weird thing is when each time it fires, I
didn't arrive to Forcena but instead my screen jumps to the start menu
of this game! What happens? How can I work that cannon to make myself go
to Forcena, please tell me as soon as possible!

A.First of all, are you playing on an emulator? Your ROM could be
stuffed, if so, d/l another one. This sounds weird, but turning
sounds on in the emulator works. But if it's a cartridge, I suggest
refunding it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Hey, I've been playing SD3 for a while now, and I have Hawk in my
party. He is a level 30 ninja, and I'm a little concerned because he
hasn't learned any skills yet. Is it supposed to be like that or do
I need to do something (raise certain stats maybe) to get him to learn
moves.

A.Like I've (I mean, Uhhhhh.....'s said), you've gotta have your Agility
at 14+. (Uhhhhh.....: This is going out to whoever sent this Q: Next time
please look at the walkthrough first before sending in a question like this
again. I'm not insulting you but please do so)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.PLEASE ANSWER THIS I AM SENDING THIS TO EVERYONE I CAN FIND AT
GAMEFAQS.COM!!! I am trying to get the shrink hammer thing at the
black market...some say it is from a boy behind barrels...others say
it is from a lady with blue hair in the top left corner. I think I
figured out where the boy is, but nobody is on the carpet behind the
barrels...PLEASE tell me why he/she is not there!!! Is there something
I need to do for him to get there?

A.It's from the lady in the top left corner surrounded by barrels.
You must first have talked to the people at the Amazon Hideout.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Hi, I'm enjoying SD3, and you FAQ is very nice. Despite this however,
I am stuck.

I'm at the point where I need to do this part:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Corridor of Wind
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now in here, you have to hit switches to change the flow of wind. Now
you should be able to get through here pretty easy, and if you get
stuck, just build up your levels. Hit the first switch to get through,
then head West. Go into the next cave, and hit the switches to go West,
and East. You'll go down some steps. Next is a puzzling room, get blown
around, until you are free of the wind, and head North to a switch.
Go back to where the wind blowing thingy was, head South through that,
then hit the switch all the way in the East side of the room. Now exit
through the opening in the bottom.

OK, my question is, "What switches?". I don't see anything like a switch.
Is it just one of those RPG things where you wander around forever
because you cannot see the switch because it is drawn crappily, or am I
totally off target? I hear a rushing noise when I go into that cave so
I'm assuming I'm in the right spot. Are you talking about those stone
heads? if the stone heads are the switches, how do you "hit" them when
you charactors only draw their weapons while in a fight?

Any help would be appreciated. I really want to progress further in this
game.

A.Sorry for the upcoming comment...but you've gotta be blind! The
switches are clearly visible. They are the green things on the wall!
Now I know that calling you blind isn't right, but it was pretty damn
obvious.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I read your FAQ/walkthrough for Seiken Densetsu 3, and its been
really useful...just the other day, i was wondering "What would
be a good party?" then i came up with Nightblade, Star Lancer,
and Dervish. This party doesn't need a healer, I think, because
of the Dervish's Moon Saber. Is this a good idea, or should I
make him a Warrior Monk? I figure if I really need a spot of
healing I could always carry around Poto Oil (Uhhhhh.....: Just have
the person with the highsest "SPIRIT" (not Intelligence) throw it.)
Thanks for your time.

A.Yes, that sounds good, but I do think you should consider making
Kevin a Warrior Monk. The Poto Oil thing is fine, but you're more than
likely to run out at an inopportune moment.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Well, I read your Seiken Densetsu 3 FAQ/Walkthrough that you wrote,
and I didn't understand what you meant when you said Light Light
class is best for Carlie when she is the main character, and some other
class (I think it was Dark Light) is best when she is not the main
character. Do you mean that she doesn't learn certain moves when she
is not the main character or something?

A.Yes. She learns the Turn Undead spell, which helps a lot in her/Kevin's
quest as there are many Undead creatures which you are easily rid of if she
has that.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.Hi, I'm sure you're probably tired of answering a lot of E-mail,
but I've got a quick question: Where do you fight the enemies who
carry ???? Seeds after dying? I read you get them from Tiamat's, but
where do you fight them? Thanks in advance.

A.The Boulder's carry them. Big, purple balls with one eye. They're
found in your final area and around Pedan.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.One more thing: what level do you have to be for Death Spell to
work on the damned ARCHDEMON???

A.Anyway, I think...I was on 70 and kept dealing 999 all the time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. Where can I get Papa Poto's Claw? I killed tons of Papa Potos and
got tons of item boxes, but all it left was either Poto Oil or Stardust
Herbs... Am I just not killing enough of them, or does someone else
give this item? Who has higher Attack: God Hand or Death Hand (Kevin)?
Who do you recommend? (I have Carlie in my group w/ bunch of Carmilla's
Claws, so I don't need a healer or Moon Saber)

A.I think you can get the Claws from the Papa Potos. If not, I'll see...
And the Death Hand is stronger, only marginally.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. I fought the Dragon Emperor, and I had a problem. When he changes
color, I couldn't tell what element he is weak to now. For the battle
I had Duran as a Duelist, Angela as a Grand Deviner, and Carlie as a
Necromancer. I know this party sucks but how could I tell about its
color changing weakness?

A.Test it out with a weak elemental spell. Otherwise, I think it's color
related, e.g Fire is Red, Blue is Ice etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.And also.. I think I saw a part where to get enemies for 500 EXP each
(whoa!) but I forgot or lost the part where it is... (ow...) but do you
know where it is?!

A.Ranges from Light Ruins to Moonlight Forest. You work it out, could
be anywhere. But those places give good EXP.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.How do you pass the volcano level? Where you have to find the turtle
???? His cave is closed right and I cant find it!!!!!

A.If you're talking about the Volcanic Island, and the rock you have
to talk to, make sure you've spoken to everyone in the Dark Priest
Village.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.I just got the emulator and started to play this game. My character
has gain two magic abilities but I can't seem to find how to cast them?

A.Open up the item ring, press down and find your magic ring. Select the
spell, and the targets, then press A to use it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.hey i am stuck at the beginig oif the coridor of wind. There is
this statue blocking my way how do i get rid of it i nedd to know asap
in email(i dint read anything in your walkthrough about e mails)and for
game genie codes like level up what do the f's stand for gamesages .com
put the ff there(i meant par codes)

A.Well, you've have to have gone through the Amazon Village, and the tiny
shrunken village (Corbokkle). Then head back to the Corridoor of Wind. As
for cheats, I don't know anything about them, as I don't use them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.hi, I got totally hooked on RPG's when I was about 11 (6 years ago)and I
played ff3. Since then, I have played every rpg I could get my hands on. I
got a psx exclusively for its rpgs, and boy did it pay off. Secret of Mana
was my second rpg to ever play. I was totally hooked, and I even thought I
would make an monster list that listed each monster in the game, the gold
you got from it, the experience you got from it, and the possible items that
they would drop. This took FOREVER. I actually managed to complete it,
taking countless hours. except, when I checked around for sites who might
want my list, I saw that people had already made it!!! Well now, I have just
started som2. I waited for years for this game to come out in the US, it
kept being delayed, and finally square announced that they werent going to
translate it and send it over here. I was so devestated!! I was a hard core
SOM fan. I must have gone through it 12 times, finding every thing about it
there ever was to know. I was very excited when I finally found an english
translation som2, even if it was just a rom (which is better than console
snes, but not what I am used to). well right now I am on bucca island with
kevin/duran/hawk. not the best group, but I didnt have your walkthrough
when I started. I noticed that even after getting some of the mana
elementals, I still couldnt cast spells. Why not? I go to the item ring and
press up/down even L/R, but not option to cast spells. I take it my
characters just can't cast spells? This is frusterating.. not like som1. but
still overall better than som1. Also, I have noticed that when you get a
treasure chest after you get a victory, the possible items that are in the
treasure chest correspond to the enemy from whence it came from. Each kind
of enemy has 3 possible items it can drop. I found this out by
saving/loading states while opening the boxes. Well, although I do not have
time to make a full item/enemy chart, I would be willing to make it for as
many enemies as possible. maybe someone could help me complete the list. Has
this already been done though? I don't want to waste my time and effort like
I did last time. Well, thanks for reading this and definately thanks for
making that walkthrough. it kicks. SOM2 is a great game. I have been getting
hooked on it more than on the psx rpgs, which just proves graphics and fx
aren't everything! Final Fantasy tactics was the best rpg of all time
though. Awesome game on the psx. battles are actually the FUN part! well,
sorry for blabbing. looks like my grades are gonna drop, as I can't stop
playing som2!!!! hehehe see ya man.

A.Anyway, the reason why you can't cast anything is that you probably
haven't had a class change yet, and none of your characters learns a
spell before they have a class change.
Go ahead with that enemy/item list! There are many ppl who have
requested one, but I just don't have the time. As far as I know,
no-one's done one yet, so you go ahead and write that up!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Q.hi, i'm currently playing secret of mana 2, and i'm stuck because i
can't decide what to do on the second class change. i read ur faq on
gamefaqs.com, and its hella good. my party is lise (i plan to get star
lancer), hawk as nightblade, and kevin as monk. i dunno if he should
be warrior monk or god hand. can u help me?

A.Warrior Monk. Easy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.I'm stuck on one thing. I have Kevin as my main charater, and i'm
on my way to the last mana beast. Is the green patch near Peden the
entrance to the forrest of illusion? I can't seem to go west when i'm
supposed to. Please tell me what's wrong.

A.Yeah, land in the green patch. The location should be the Jungle of
Illusion or something. If you go a few screens to the right, you'll
appear in Pedan. In the opposite direction is where you want to go to
though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.. please list the best physical attacker from strongest to weakest
for rieze's final class...please

. also, which is more powerful summon of rieze's dark classes? (dragon
summon or lamia naga)

A.? Lise's best summon out of those two is Jormungand, best attacking
class is Vanadies, Fenrir Knight/Star Lancer, then Dragon Master.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Q.Hi man,my name is Anthony and i want some help!
I am now for the 7th God-Beast:Dolan(God-Beast of Moon)and my people
is:Duran(Knight),Kevin(Monk)and Charlotte(Priestess)and i am on level
34!I planned to reach L42,but i want to know which Level i have to
take to beat him?
Kevin have Pressure Point(skill to increases STR) and i use it on each
battle.If this is correct?

A.To beat him? Gee, any level 35+ is great. And you're right about the
Kevin thing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
12) Miscellaneous
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I was inspired to put up this section by Pokem10065. We decided
it would be cool if we had a section about the names of the classes
for every character, and just other miscellaneous stuff, like glitches
and things.

Master of all Dragons, and uses them to help her in battle.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
From Pokem10065:

-Her summons, Freya and Marduk, are the Norse God of Fertility and a
Babylonian God respectively.

-Hello again!! Just wanted to correct a mistake I sent in. For Freya
she is really the goddess of Love and Marriage. She belongs to a
group of peace loving gods called the Vanirs( Get it?? Vanir...
Vanadies??) Oh well. Anyway she is what you would consider the slut
of the gods as she has many love affairs and is also the "patron
goddess" of Witchcraft.

From Razorclaw X:

Jormungand is another name for Norse myth's Midgard Serpent (it was
also called 'Terrato' in FF6 for unknown reasons), and Fenrir is
another name for the Fenris Wolf of the same mythology.

From Cyberwulf115:

As you can quite tell, I wanted to contribute something. So,
here's an etymology of the Spirits' names:

Wisp- Probably from the Will o' the Wisp from Anglo-Saxon mythology.
A little floating ball of light that is said to be able to take over
human bodies.

Shade-Darkness, shadow, duh.

Gnome- A little dwarf miner thingie. Lives in holes, mines, etc.
Jinn- Not quite sure, but Jinn is a Sylph- wind spirit, like a faerie

Salamando- as in salamander. Ancients believed the salamander to
have 'special powers' over fire, like a mini-dragon.

Undine- From Latin 'unda' meaning 'splash.' Yes, this is true, I
have a teacher nicknamed 'Triplex Unda,' meaning 3-splash.

Luna- Latin for 'Moon.'

Dryad- yet another latin-ish thing. Dryads were spirits of trees.
When a tree was cut down, the Dryad owned by that tree died. The
Latin interpretation of the Gaelic Druid priests.

From Pokem10065, who else would you expect?

Hello I would love to report a bug in the game. What ever you do never
choose Angela as the third character as when someone does Prisoner,
Freya or anything that makes the heroes into Moogles or Chibokkles
the game would bug out. When Moogled the second character turns purple
and when attempting to cure the second one the game bugs out. When
Chibokkled game resets automatically.

From DD:

I had read your walkthrough at Gamefaqs. I notice that you don't know
a secret. First of all, I am playing the Japanese cartridge. I beat
this game a couple of years ago, and if I can remember right, there
is a secret for Kevin. If you use the Hammer on Kevin while he turns
to wolf. Then call the dragon. After you land his Attack status will
MAX. You can not call the dragon on battles. There's an item or spell
(not sure) that makes Kevin turn to wolf. Then you can call the
dragon.

From Suqian:

I've also found a bug in the game. Have you ever had a party with the
characters equipped with someone else's equipment (eg. Kevin with the
Deathstroke), about to fight the Dragon Emperor but you're at level 10?
(Magus: Ummmmm, no) Well I found a way with ZSNES.

All you have to do is get to a place in the game, ride Flammie (with
you controlling it) and save state while your in the air. Then start a
new game, get all three characters and save while on the ground. Now
reload the save state where you're on Flammie and land on the ground.
Your characters should have the equipment and stats of the other save
state. It might not work the first time so try a couple of times.

From Horvath:

I also encountered a strange thing. The monsters in the Cave of
Darkness only did 1 damage with regular hits. I had the final sets
of equipment, but does it matter THAT much? Why doesnt it work with
my other group then?

From DragonKnightZero:

1 damage from regular hits in the Cave of Darkness? That's no bug. The
damage system with regular attacks is simple. The target's defense value is
simply subtracted from the attacker's attack value to obtain the damage.
The game randomly adds 0-2 points to obtain the damage done. If the value
is negative, the damage will be 1. Example: Character with attack value of
210 attacks an enemy with a defense value of 145. Damage from regular hits
will be 65-67 per hit. By the way, all level 2 techs use the same damage
formula; just double the attack value before subtracting the target's
defense value. All level 3 techs work in a similar way with a different
damage formula.
