---------------------------------------------------------------------
1)Introduction
---------------------------------------------------------------------

When Rainbow Six came out, it was hailed as the king of tactical
FPS's. It had teamwork, "real-world" factors, and some of the best
team play in an FPS ever. Now its sequel is out, and it is even more
stunning.

It's basically a re-doing of Rainbow Six, and the tweaks it adds are
extremely good. You are again in charge of the Rainbow anti-terrorist
squad, who's put in charge of protecting the world from these
terrorists (the Tangos).

The game is really easy to get into if you've played Rainbow Six
before, and it's still pretty easy to learn for beginners. Within
the game is a training feature, kinda like the Half-Life Black Mesa
Hazard Course.

Once you've picked your mission, the game will give you a briefing
which it is advisable to listen to, and gives you some intel too. Then
you've got to make your team. There's tonnes of abilities your team
members can have, ranging from electronics, assault, sniping, demo-
litons or reconnaissance.

Their weapons and other stats can be tweaked to your delight. You can
use sniper rifles (YES! I won't have to resort to playing Silent
Scope at the arcades), standard and silenced assault rifles, pistols,
flashbangs, grenades, explosives, and heartbeat sensors to detect
the enemy.

Apart from the missions, there's two variants: Lone Wolf and Terrorist
Hunt. In these missions, you've got to exterminate all of the terrorists,
and in Lone Wolf, you've got to do it alone, and in Terrorist Hunt,
you've got a full backup team to help.

Now onto the graphics. WHOA. They're damn good. Fully 3D, and they are
modelled on real-life locations, including the Prague Opera House and
a 747. It looks real enough. The game also uses the sounds to up the
suspense a little.

It's not your average Quake style FPS. You've got to plan, plan, plan.
And work together in a team. You're not the lone soldier zapped into
hell now, you're the anti-terrorist squad who aren't as macho. You
can co-ordinate their actions so that when one team throws a flashbang
to blind the enemy, the other team rushes in to finish them off.

There's also the issue of hostages. They die, you die. I mean, lose.
You've got to rescue them before they die... and timing is vital to
saving them. Actually, timing is vital to any part of the mission.
Planning plays a very important part of the game, and you can either
take the default plan or make one up of your own.

In game, there's a very useful map in the game which shows you your
position and position of the other teams. Use this to your advantage
when storming the enemy. Also, there's the extremely useful peek
function, where you can see what's around a corner without actually
going around that corner. Peeking adds to the suspense factor, and
also increases your chance of your survival.

The AI does have some problems though. But, they are minor, minor things
as it's still supberb. They can withdraw from attack, and they keep
moving and don't just stay in one spot.

Multiplay is also near perfect. All of the missions are available for
multiplay, and you can not only play co-op with your buddies but also
the AI!

Overall, this is the new standard in tactical FPS. While the AI may not
be perfect, and the missions may become a little repetitive, it's a
great FPS full of tactics, and suspense. Get it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
2)Planning
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Apart from the real action phase, the planning is probably the most
important phase of the game. The plans that the game provides you
with are good to stick with for the first few missions, and once
you've got the hang of it, you can start planning yourself.

First, watch the whole thing in Watch Mode. Here, you can make an
analysis on the plan. Here, you can see the mission's strongest
points, and the weakest points. Try to plan by yourself as quickly as
possible, as you'll get experience and you'll know how to spend your
money.

Next, never ever skip the briefing. Listen to every single last
detail, and if there's any information you can squeeze out of anyone/
anything, get it as it will be invaluable.

Also stay on the Intel screen for a while. You should have some
knowledge of the likely plans of the Tangos, and some advice on the
type of team you should you. You should have been able to have learnt
them, the objectives, and any restrictions (time, specialists) on the
mission.

Now, it's time to choose a team. You should know by know what type of
team you'll need for the situation. Usually, people with assault skills
are the ones to pick as they are the most versatile, and assault
skills are usually the most important skills needed in a mission.

Some missions may call for demolition specialists, reconnaisance,
snipers or electronics. All team members know how to carry out all
of the tasksbut they're probably less skilled in those areas than a
specialist.

Using a specialist will make the mission go faster. If the mission is
more aligned to the nature of rush in shoot kill, you may want to just
have a whole team of assault specialists. If you need a demo man, or
electronics specialist, it's wise to pick one. But in most examples,
an assault member with a high rating of the skill you need will do
the job.

Balance out the skills of your team members, as you'll probably split
them into different teams throughout the mission. When picking members
you should look for a high assault and stealth rating, as these are the
stats which will help you through the mission. For team leaders, they
should be the ones which have the most leadership and self-control.

Also choose your weapon kit wisely. As with the plans, use the
default settings for the first couple of missions, then go on and
experiment. Say, switch those grenades for flashbangs, and include
a heartbeat sensor. Would a silencer be more effective? Work out the
reasons why your kit isn't doing well and improve it.

With the kit, you can also specify the type of uniform, armor, primary
and secondary weapons, and extra equpiment. Remember to give each
person the correct type of equipment, as a demolitions man isn't very
good without heavy armor, and a sniper isn't any good with heavy
armor.

Use the Go Codes well too. Their main use is to co-ordinate actions
between two teams. Selecting waypoints for your teams are effective too,
and remembering to think about the Rules of Engagement is good too.
Now, it's action!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
3)Action!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, even though you've done all your careful, careful, planning, it's
gotta come unstuck somewhere. As with everything in life. But, stick
to the plan. Don't change anything, even at the worst disaster.

Follow the map and waypoints, and even if you see some obvious,
gaping hole in the Tango's plan, try not to change the plan much at
all. But, if you're really, really screwed, you've gotta make a change.

To help, to make the mission easier, you'll need to give each team
a heartbeat sensor. Give them to someone other than the team leaders,
and check it regularly to detect the enemy.

When you've detected the enemy, first, use the peek command. It's free,
apart from that it wastes a minimal amount of time, and the Tangos
keep on moving. Then, take them out with short bursts of fire. It's
tempting to rush in with all guns blazing, but the simplest shots will
do the job.

Also check the mission map regularly, and if a team is not doing
anything, chances are that they've come across some Tangos, or you need
to give them a Go code.

Sometimes your team can stick to you like glue, and that's bad when
you need to scout ahead. Scout ahead and check out the situation
before calling the rest of them in. You don't want your whole team to
be slaughtered.

Do not underestimate the power of the sniper!!!! He's a very important
part of the team. Make him take out that annoying Tango at the entrance,
or guard a exit. You've got to take control of them well though,
otherwise you'll give the whole game away.

When rescuing hostages, you'll probably need to escort them in case
the Tangos get them. Otherwise, leave them in a safe spot, then move
on and complete your objectives before rescuing them.

And most of all, take your time. Walking around will reduce noise,
and you'll be quicker to react than running into a group of Tangos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
4)Other Tips
---------------------------------------------------------------------

-When in a mission where you have to use Specialist skills, you should
always pick an assault member who is high in that skill. Assault members
also have a better "enemy killing" ratio to others.

-If you need a demolition specialist, only call one in if you need
to disarm something. For something minor, as placing explosives, it's
fundamentally better to stick to an assault member.

-If you need an electronics specialist, usually, once again, stick to
an assault member with a high electronics skill level. Unless you need
time.

-If you need a sniper, ALWAYS bring in a specialist. You need lots of
precision, and good timing, otherwise you'll bring the misison down.
Even if they aren't required, having one is quite useful.

-Good weapons to choose from are of course, the MP510SD, closely
followed by the Benelli M1 Shotgun and the HK MP5SD5. The MP510SD cuts
through the enemy like hell, but the only disadvantage is that it's
louder than the MP5SD5.
The M1 is great for barging into a room, and shooting anything for the
heck of it. Another great gun to choose is the HK UMP45SD, as it's great
for those situations where you're taking on lots of terrorists.

-When choosing a secondary weapon, just pick whatever you feel is
okay, but the best bet is to go with something very, very powerful, such
as the Desert Eagle.

-When in any situation, remember to give each team a heartbeat sensor.
These are the things which will save your ass.

-When outdoors, you may want to take a pair of binoculars along with you.
This way you can check out the positions of the Tangos and look for any
clear paths.

-Equip Flashbangs! They're really good for taking out (well, not really)
Tangos, as they can blind them and leave you to pick them off one by
one.

-What are Go Codes? Complex, but very useful commands. Say you've got
one team at a waypoint. They'll sit there and do nothing until you
give them a Go Code, basically an order. For example, if you have two
teams waiting for you to reach some Tangos, you can use a Go Code to
make them storm in just as you reach the Tangos.
You should usually stick to the same Go Code for each team to make
things less complicated.

-What are Rules Of Engagement? They are commands which will affect
the speed and actions of each team. In sync with Go Codes, these
are very effective ways to make sure all your teams are co-ordinated.
There are four ROEs, Assault, Escort, Infiltrate and Recon.

Infiltrate is the best for the situations where you're trying to
control a lot of teams. The teams will move quietly and quickly to
wherever you want them to head to, and will avoid all combat.

Escort and Assault are self-explainatory. Recon is almost the same
as Infiltrate, but they move slower, so it's handy when you can't see
those Tangos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
5)Some Mission Hints
---------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Pandora Trigger
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Set in New York, it's a great starting mission.

-Pick either three teams of two, or one of one, one of two and one of
three. Two of the teams should head to the front entrance and the
other to the back.

-Make sure your timing is correct, then head in with the back group.
Don't shoot with the front group yet, until your other team has cleared
out some easy Tangos.

-Switch to the Assault ROE for the front team and head in, watching
the balconies for Tangos. Never, ever run into open spaces.

-Surround the hostage room from all sides, then throw a flashbang and
finish it off.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Arctic Flare
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This one's tricky. You'll need three teams, a sniper team and two
assault teams.

-Timing is essential. Do not pull the trigger early.

-Place the sniper team so that they will aim at anyone who's on the
bridge (near the detonator). But put them on hold.

-Send the other two teams down each side of the ship. Dispose of the
Tangos on the first floor, then wait outside the place where the
hostages are located.

-Use a Go Code to co-ordinate a sniper attack and the rescue of the
hostages.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sand Hammer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Toxic bombs? Can't wait. You'll require three or four assault teams.
Four is recommended.

-There are two targets, the bombs in the building closest to you, and
the hostages in the other building.

-Place one team at the front, one on the catwalk, one at the back and
another covering the entrance to the smaller building.

-Send all of the teams apart from the last one (covering the smaller
building) in. Use the back team to take out the Tango nearest to the
detonator.

-Then make all of your teams head over to the hostage building. Send
one to each door, but there will be two at one of them. Go in, clear
out the ground while taking out the Tangos on top. Secure the building
and take the hostages to safety.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Lost Thunder
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a pretty sweet map. Use a sniper team and two assault teams.
Due to the location, silenced weapons aren't needed so go ahead and
use that Benelli M1 to full effect!

-Send one assault team into the alleyway across the road. Use the
other team and the snipers to get up on top of the tower nearby. Set
up the snipers to take out the enemy snipers and to cover the road.

-Move both assault teams to the church. Have one enter from the front,
one from the side. Use flashbangs to help take out the Tangos, and
rescue the hostages.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfect Sword
---------------------------------------------------------------------

On a plane? Yipee!!!

-Make about two or three ground teams, and one Sniper.

-Position the Sniper on the ground above the plane, then move the
ground teams. Take out the Tangos with either team.

-See the truck? It's good cover while trying to make it to the cargo
door.

-Take out the Tangos on the cargo deck, then spilt the ground team
into two, one for the back and one for the front (steps).

-Use the heartbeat sensor to tell when it's the right time to pick off
the Tango patrolling the door, and when it is the time, go sniper!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Crystal Arc
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick one recon expert. This is a great "spy" mission.

-Don't shoot! Take along a lockpicking kit and a heartbeat sensor. And
don't get seen!

-Crouch, and move to the security place to the left. Deactivate the
cameras, and then move to the dacha.

-Enter the dacha. Be careful, there's a few guards patrolling. Find
the phone and plant the bug.

-Move upstairs, avoiding Tangos. Hide in the toilet, and when the
Tango goes downstairs, plant the camera behind the painting and leave.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Silent Drum
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Three or four assault teams works nicely, all with silenced weapons.

-Smack the Tangos on the roof before proceeding down, with all your
teams.

-Send three teams to the ground, while leaving one team on the
catwalks. Clear the area. Surround Studio A, and make sure your catwalk
team is not above the studio.

-Go Code it so that the catwalk team runs in to clear the catwalks
above Studio A, and so the ground team runs in to rescue the hostages.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Feral Burn
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I recommend using one recon team along with three assault teams. Recon
members should be equipped with silenced weapons, however you can
pick weapons with force for the assault teams.

-Use the recon team to go through the water. Take out the two Tangos,
then send the assault teams to the top of the stairs outside and to the
left, and then place the other in the bottom right corner of the
bottom right building.

-Recon should go up the stairs near the boat, and throw a frag grenade
into the middle while giving a Go Code to move and clear the area,
especially near the car and the truck. Shoot your heart out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Diamond Edge
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Use two sniper teams and two assault teams for maximum effect. Make
sure your weapons are silenced.

-Use the snipers to take out the Tangos in the guard towers, then use
the assault teams to clear the ground out.

-Save one sniper team to cover the entrance, then send the rest down
the right side. Clear out all the Tangos in the bunkers you see. In
the second bunker, use the snipers to take out the Tango, the one in
the window, then the three on the other side.

-Leave that sniper team there to guard, and make your way to the room
with the truck. Take out the Tangos and take the Colonel to safety.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Silver Snake
---------------------------------------------------------------------

One recon team, and silenced weapons are the norm.

-Take out the Tango on the balcony. There's two behind the dacha.

-Move to the front of the dacha, taking out the tango there. Enter the
dahca, and head to the stairs at the back. When there's no-one in the
hall, go to the computer and kill the Tango quickly.

-Download the stuff, then go down to the garage and exit from there.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle Stone
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll require a single recon expert, preferably with a pair of
binoculars and a heartbeat sensor.

-Use the binoculars to check if the path to the carport is clear. If
it is, rush to the carport and close the door behind you when you enter.

-Use the heartbeat sensor to full effect while moving past the Tangos
around the spa. When the hall upstairs is clear, move into the room
with the phone, and plant the bug.

-Go up to reach the next hallway, and get into the place with the
ladder. Go down, and go into the next hallway when it's safe. Go to
the right of the library, plant the camera and exit the way you came
in.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Temple Gate
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Set in the Prague Opera House. It's a hard mission.

-Again, two or three teams will do. Make sure they have silenced
weapons.

-One of the rare missions where the original plan is stuffed. So don't
stick to the plan it gives you.

-Send a team through the back door, and clear out the Tangos, going from
the top, down to the bottom.

-Take out the Tangos blocking the front doors, then send the other
teams in.

-Avoiding open areas, use your heartbeat sensors and peek function
wisely to take out the Tangos which are around.

-Once you're sure there's no more, assault the front stage.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Sargasso Fade
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick a sniper team, and two assault teams. It's your choice if you
want to use silenced weapons or not, they're not really that necessary.

-Move down the right and take out the Tangos to the left. Place the
sniper to cover the tower.

-Have one team climb the ladder, and cover from there. Make the other
team head to the communications place.

-Clear the building inside and then use explosives.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Majestic Gold
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, a sniper team and two assault teams, but this time you'll
need the silenced weapons.

-Send the sniper down to the left, and have him take out the Tango in
that guard booth thingy. Send the two assault teams in.

-Head in, taking caution around the two guard towers. Exit to the right.

-Have one team head up to the generators and plant explosives. Be
careful.

-Have the other team move out into the courtyard, dispose of the Tangos,
the down some stairs and into a machinery room. Use a frag grenade in
there and then place your explosives.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Frost Light
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll need two or three assault teams here, with silenced weapons
a must.

-Use one team to clear out the area around the Extraction Zone. Have
them cover the other two teams as they enter the carport.

-Be careful, there's a few Tangos around this area. Leave one team here
and send the other up the stairs, don't worry about Holt yet.

-Find the other dude near the spa, take him back to Holt and evacuate.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hero Claw
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll require a sniper and two assault teams, silenced weapons again
a must.

-Use the assault teams to clear out the train yard quickly and quietly.

-Climb the ladder near the bottom entrance with the sniper, and place
them so they're overlooking the car. Use one other team to cover the
top entrance, and the other team to hide around the corner near the cars.

-Use a Go Code to co-ordinate your attack. The team around the corner
should mop up any Tangos around there, and the sniper will prevent anyone
getting to the car. After that's done, go into the building and clean
up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ebony Horse
---------------------------------------------------------------------

You'll need three high powered assault teams.

-Leave two teams to cover the entrance while the other goes into the
ground entrance and into the castle/citadel thing. At the top will
be the head honcho, deal with him.

-Use the other two teams to clear the gates, then the walls, then all
of the Tangos inside the walls.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Zero Gambit
---------------------------------------------------------------------

This is hard. You need two sniper teams with silenced weapons, and two
heavy assault teams.

-Don't do anything to make a sound! Until I tell you to.

-Using a sniper team, go through the small entrance, avoiding everything,
and up to the generators. Head to the stairs on the top right afterwards.

-Do the same for the next snipers, but go to the top left of the
stairs. Enter the room on the right, where you can have a good view
of the control room.

-Use the first sniper team to clean up the catwalks, then run around the
corner, take out all Tangos and finally Kutkin, who's on the other side
of the reactor room. Find some cover.

-Use the second sniper team to stand up and take out the lieutenant.
Take cover.

-Send in the two assault teams to clean the place up.
