This FAQ was created using NJSTAR, and to view it properly, I would
suggest right clicking the page, then choose 'encoding' and choose Japanese

have a Mac, I have no idea how to do that with them. So, sorry.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently, I was given the pleasure of playing through Dragon Quest 2
on the Super Famicom. DQ2 was probably the hardest one out of the four
Dragon Quest games released on the NES. The new remake has added and
changed a few things, like the stat-increasing seeds, and giving the
Princess of Moonbrooke a few different spells in her roster. The changes
in the DQ2 remake are far less than the changes put into the DQ3 remake.
As far as I know, the game has removed the ability to do at least two
'cheats'. I could not do the 'get a Staff of Thunder, sell it, save the
game, hit reset, get another Staff of Thunder' one, as you only fight the
boss one time and get 1 Staff of Thunder. Instead of fighting an Evil
Clown, you fight a Mace Master-܂񂩂-Akumashinkan, instead.
The other 'cheat' that I couldn't do was the way to get two Water
Flying Clothes. I could not get another Magic Loom. If anyone has found a
way to overcome those 2 'non cheats', please email me
(akaiscarlet@hotmail.com), and I will credit you.

                         Menu Screen Translations

First of all, you should know what all the options are when you turn
the game on. They are:

ڂ-Bouken wo Suru (Continue a game.)
Ă-Setti wo Kaeru (Change message speed; 1 is fastest, 9 is
                 slowest.)
ڂ̂‚-Bouken no Sho wo Tsukuru (New Game.)
ڂ̂‚-Bouken no Sho wo Utsusu (Copy a game to an open
                       save file.)
ڂ̂-Bouken no Sho wo Kesu (Erase a game-permanently.)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

                           Command Translations

Regular Commands (Non-Battle) A * indicates more options open when that
command is selected.

͂Ȃ-Hanasu (Talk) -Jumon (Magic Spell)
*‚悳-Tsuyosa (Status) *ǂ-Dougi (Inventory)
Ƃт-Tobira (Open a Door) ׂ-Shiraberu (Search)

When you select ‚悳-Tsuyosa (Status), two options open. They are:
-Soubi (Equip) and
‚悳݂-Tsuyosamiru (Look at Stats).

When you select ǂ-Dougu (Inventory), two options (three when you get
more than one party member) open. They are:
‚-Tsukau (Use the item)
킽-Watasu (Give the item to another party member)
Ă-Suteru (Throw item away-it doesn't come back, so be careful!)

When you select ‚悳-Tsuyosa (Status) and then ‚悳݂-Tsuyosamiru
(Look at stats), you get the Status Screen.

The final set of commands are the Fight Commands. The hero does not
have the -Jumon (Magic Spell) command, as he never learns spells.

ڂ-Bougyo (Defend)
ǂ-Dougu (Inventory)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
