---------------------------------------------------------------------

IT IS A TIME of darkness. While the Sultan is off fighting a foreign
war, his Grand Vizier JAFFAR has seized the reins of power. Throughout
the land, the people groan under the yoke of a cruel tyrant, and dream
of better days.

Only one obstacle stands between Jaffar and the throne. An adventurer
from a foreign land, innocent of palace intrgues, you have won the heart
of the Sultan's lovely young daughter. And in so doing, you have
unwittingly made a powerful enemy.

On Jaffar's orders, you are arrested, stripped of your sword and your
possessions, and thrown into the Sultan's dungeons. As for the princess,
Jaffar give her a choice, and an hour to decide: Marry him - or die.

Whichever her choice, it can bring only a throne for the Grand
Vizier...a new reign of terror for his long-suffering subjects...and
death for the brave youth who might have been...PRINCE OF PERSIA.

This is in the instruction book.

4- Prince of Persia History
---------------------------------------------------------------------
In the 1980s, computer games were created almost entirely by one person.
For Prince of Persia, that person was Jordan Mechner, a then 25 year old
recent college grad. Jordan created the story, characters, and levels
for Prince of Persia. He programmed the game and drew the graphics. And
when Jordan needed help, he didn't go far from home. His dad composed
the original music. And his brother served as the Motion Study actor for
the Prince. Truly a labor of love, Prince of Persia took nearly 4 years
to be completed.

The game was published first on the Apple II platform, but soon made it
to virtually all platforms in existance at the time including: DOS,
Macintosh, Amiga, NES, SNES, GameBoy, Sega Genesis, Sega Mega Drive,
Sega CD, Game Gear, Commodore 64, and FM Towns. It's popularity was not
confined to just the United States. In all, the game has been published
in the United States, Canada, England, Germany, France, Spain, Japan,
Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, and Israel.
