---------------------------INTRODUCTION/HISTORY----------------------------

Version 1.31(8/1/00): FAQ-wide update, some tidying up.

Version 1.3(1/1/00): I updated the Walkthrough, with walkthroughs for Levels
1-5 and 1-6. I also updated the copyright notices.

Version 1.2(12/6/99): I redid the Credits and Copyright sections, and posted a
copy of them near the top of the FAQ.

Version 1.1: I needed to do a MAJOR format change for all of my FAQs so they
would all look alike. There is also a bit of content updated in here also.

-----------------------------------STORY-----------------------------------

NOTE: This is the story described in the optional cutscene before the title
screen.

A long, long time ago...

This is a story about baby Mario and Yoshi.

A stork hurries across the dusky, pre-dawn sky.

In his bill, he supports a pair of twins.

Suddenly, a shadow appears in a gap between the clouds and races toward the
stork with blinding speed.

"SCRREEECH!!!"

"THE BABIES ARE MINE!"

WOW!

Snatching only one baby, the creature vanishes into the darkness from whcih it
came.

The second baby falls undetected towards the open sea...

OH NO...

Meanwhile, here is Yoshi's Island, home to all Yoshies.

It's a lovely day, and Yoshi is taking a walk.

HUH?!?

Suddenly, a baby drops in onto his back.

The baby seems to be fine. This is very fortunate!

What? Something else fell with the baby...

Let's take a look...

It looks like a map. Maybe the stork was using it?

But Yoshi can't figure it out.

Yoshi decides to talk to his friends.

AAAAAAAAAAKK!!!

Kamek, the evil Magikoopa, and kidnapper of the baby, quickly dispatches his
toadies, when he discovers that he missed the other baby!

Yoshi heads leisurely back to the other Yoshies, unaware of the danger at hand.

Kamek's forces are actively searching the island.

Will these two children ever reach their parents safely?

-----------------------------------ITEMS-----------------------------------

===========================================================================
100% COMPLETION ITEMS
===========================================================================

Stars: You start out each level with 10 of them. They act like your timer when
Mario is knocked off your back. You can have up to 30 stars at one time. If
your star count ever goes below 10, it will slowly go back up to 10. Each star
counts as 1% towards the level completion percentage.

Red Coins: These are disguised as normal coins. Fly Guys and Bandits also hold
them. You can get up to 20 in one stage (there is 21 or 22 in one stage,
though...). Each red coin counts as 1% toward the level completion percentage.

Flowers: These are the most hidden items in the game. They are either totally
visible, inside winged clouds, or in secret areas. You can gather up to 5 in
one stage. Each flower counts as 10% towards the level completion percentage.

===========================================================================
WEAPONS
===========================================================================

Melons: There are three different kinds of melons you can gather in the game:
*Green Melons: You can spit seeds at enemies. You get about 30-50 shots with
it.
*Red Melons: You can spit fire at enemies. You get 3 shots with it.
*Blue Melons: You can spit ice at enemies. You get 3 shots with it.

Eggs: Your basic weapons. Like Melons, they come in different varieties (5, to
be exact):
*Green Eggs: These are your basic eggs.
*Yellow Eggs: When you hit an enemy with one, you can get a coin.
*Red Eggs: When you hit an enemy with one, you can get two stars.
*Flashing Eggs: When you hit an enemy with one, you can get a red coin.
*Jumbo Eggs: Swallow a Fat Guy to get one. When you throw it, it turns all
on-screen enemies into stars.
You can hold up to six eggs at once.

Egg Blocks: You can gather eggs from them. You gather the eggs of the same
color when you hit them. Green egg blocks give you infinite eggs, while the
others only give you one egg.

Anywhere POW: You win these in mini-games. It turns all on-screen enemies into
stars when used.

Koopa Shell: If you swallow any kind of shelled Koopa, press Y and you can
shoot it at enemies.

===========================================================================
MISC.
===========================================================================

Message Block: Hit it, and it will give you advice on a topic relating to the
level.

Winged Cloud: Shoot one with an egg, and one of many things will happen.

Expansion Block: If you hit one, it will expand to a larger size, and you can
use it to get higher.

Spring Balls: Your basic springs can get you to higher areas. The larger ones
can get you about twice as high.

1-UP: You can get one extra life for getting one.

Key: You can carry it with you with your eggs to get into locked doors. It
counts toward your six egg limit.

Switch: Hitting one will temporarily make items, platforms, and secret passages
appear.

Magnifying Glass: If you have one, you can use it to identify red coins from
normal coins.

Crate: You're bound to find stars or keys by pounding on these.

===========================================================================
TRANSFORMATIONS
===========================================================================

Helicopter: By hitting a helicopter bubble, Yoshi will turn into this flying
machine. For a limited amount of time, he'll be able to fly around, but make
sure not to run out of energy very quickly.

Mole Tank: What do moles do? I dunno, dig holes maybe. By turning into a mole
tank, Yoshi can dig through soft rock and go through narrow passages.

Train: Choo choo! By turning into a train, Yoshi can ride on the tracks you
see on the walls. You will also run into Train Bandits, who will try to knock
your off the tracks!

Submarine: The only way Yoshi can swim beneath the surface is by turning into a
sub. Since he has an unlimited amount of torpedoes, getting rid of the aquatic
vermin shouldn't be a problem.

Car: In only one stage, you have the opportunity to change into a Yoshi-mobile.
 To get over enemies, you can rise above them by sprouting stilts to give you
room between the wheels and you for the baddies to pass by.

Super Mario: Hit a Super Star and the invincible baby can do just about
anything. He can parachute with his cape, run across spikes, kill any enemies
instatnly, and even run up walls and ceilings!

--------------------------------WALKTHROUGH--------------------------------

NOTE: The "Extra" levels are in a special section, after World 6.

===========================================================================
WORLD 1
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
World 1-1: Make Eggs, Throw Eggs
===========================================================================

The first stage is very easy to complete. As with all of the stages, I will
give a walkthrough of each area, telling the items in the order you will get
them using my path.

First, hit the message box for a reminder about how to make eggs. Keep moving
right to reach FLOWER #1. Hit the second message block for a reminder on how
to throw eggs. You will see a winged cloud near the block. Shoot an egg at
it, then walk up the stairs and go left to get RED COINS #1-6 and FLOWER #2,
then hit the Fly-Guy to get 5 stars. Now go back to where the second message
block was, then kill the two Piranha Plants to gain access to the pipe.

In this underground area, you will need to know how to use the Chomp Rock.
First, go right and grab RED COINS #7-8 from the Fly-Guys. Now go back, get
the Chomp Rock, and jump to grab the coins, including RED COINS #9-14. Place
the Chomp Rock as far right as you can, then aim an egg off the ceiling to land
in the flower to get 8 stars. Or, grab one of the Fly-Guys and just spit them
into the flower. Now, go back to the Chomp Rock and jump on it to get up to
the pipe.  Go through it.

After returning to above ground, go into the alcove to the left to get FLOWER
#3. Now, go right to the spinning ledges. Kill the two Piranha Plants, then
grab the items, which are RED COINS #15-18 and FLOWER #4. Now, continue right
and shoot up to the winged cloud for 5 stars. Go right and shoot at the winged
cloud to reveal a beanstalk. Go up it, then left. Shoot the visible winged
cloud for FLOWER #5, then drop down to the lower rock to find a hidden cloud
for 5 stars. Go down, and return to the beanstalk. Go up it, then grab the
two coins above the spinning ledges, which are RED COINS #19-20. Now, go
right, and roll the Chomp Rock to kill the lower Piranha Plant and some of the
Shy-Guys. Shoot at the winged cloud if you need more stars, then just go
right, past the Shy-Guys, to the Goal Ring.

===========================================================================
World 1-2: Watch Out Below!
===========================================================================

In this level you will meet Incoming Chomps that will create holes in the
ground. They always fall in the same places, so stay in the right spot and
you'll have no problems.

Start by proceeding left to find FLOWER #1. At this point, the Chomps will
begin to fall down on you. Never stand in the shadows and jump by only when
they are out of sight. A little further right you'll see coins, two of which
are RED COINS #1-2. A few steps to the right from here, you'll find a winged
cloud. Shoot it to reveal FLOWER #2. Yet another few steps to the right are 6
coins, the middle 4 being RED COINS #3-6. Keep going right to the next winged
cloud for 5 stars. Keep going right from there to reach the first Mid-Ring.
Gather an egg or two and shoot them up to the coins to find RED COINS #7-10.
Shoot an egg or two through the soft rock to access the spring to go up to the
next area.

After reaching the next area, follow the path right, up, left, up, left to
reach the Mid-Ring, then go back right, staying along the upper path, to the
helicopter bubble. After hitting it, go under the first column hanging from
the top of the screen for RED COINS #11-12 and FLOWER #3. Going right, go
through the bottom entrance to the second column for FLOWER #4. After exiting
it, work your way to the top of the screen, then go through the small passage
to quickly get RED COINS #13-15 before the helicopter wears off. Hit it again,
then go under the two columns, then right to the Yoshi block. After hitting
it, go right to the pipe. Right above the pipe, jump onto one of those small
logs to find the alcove with RED COINS #16-17. Now go down the pipe.

Go right and kill the Fly-Guy for a 1-UP. Go right to the three coins for RED
COINS #18-20. One of the two winged clouds in this room also contains FLOWER
#5, with the other having 5 stars. If you can pass the last set of Chomps,
you'll reach the well-deserved Goal Ring.

===========================================================================
World 1-3: The Cave of Chomp Rock
===========================================================================

The first level gave you a taste of using a Chomp Rock and being underground.
Now you have to go through a whole level underground. Actually, this stage
isn't as bad as you think (it's easier than dodging Chomps!). Just learn how
to control the Chomp Rock correctly and this stage will be easy.

First, kill the right Piranha Plant, then jump to it to find a hidden cloud for
a 1-UP. Now go underground. As soon as you emerge from the pipe, you'll see a
Chomp Rock rolling. It will stop at a pole. Pound on the pole until it goes
down, then pound the crate for 8 stars. Keep rolling it right until you reach
the soft rock. Pound it all down, and don't forget to pound down the pole to
get RED COIN #1. Keep rolling it right to take out the Nipper Plants, on the
floor below 8 coins, the higher 4 being RED COINS #2-5. Now, jump on the
message block, then to the left to get above the ceiling. Run to the left and
you'll be gathering a lot of coins. From the end of that, drop down the hole
at the end and go right and down the mushrooms near the second Chomp Rock,
avoiding the enemies. Go all the way down, then right for RED COINS #6-7 and
FLOWER #1. Go back up to the Chomp Rock, and roll it down, all the way to the
left hill under the Mid-Ring, then left through the tunnel to dump the enemies
and get to RED COINS #8-9 and FLOWER #2. Return to the right and knock that
Chomp Rock down to gain access to RED COINS #10-13, then find a hidden cloud
for 5 stars. NOW you can go back up and hit the Mid-Ring.

Now, go right to the mushrooms to find FLOWER #3 above them. Go right to the
poles and pound them down to gain RED COINS #14-15. Now, shoot down the crate
and pound it for 8 stars, if you need them. Then, shoot down the key and use
it to open up the hut below the Mid-Ring to play a bonus game. After finishing
it, go right, past the three poles to find 6 coins, 2 being RED COINS #16-17.
Now go right, down, right, up, right, then shoot through the soft rock for
FLOWER #4. Just a few steps right, pound down the left pole to find a hidden
cloud. Hit it for a switch, then go to where the arrow is and go down it like
a pipe. In this room you will find over 100 coins. After getting them all,
use one of the springs on the sides of the room and the ledges to go back up to
the normal level. From here, go right. This next part is tricky. Roll the
Chomp Rock to about 5 steps past the hole in the ceiling, then as it rolls down
the hill, jump on top of it to go through the hole and get up to the alcove.
Grabbing all of the items here will give you RED COINS #18-20 and FLOWER #5.
Now, go down and right to go back overground. Shoot down the two Piranha
Plants, and kill the Fly-Guy for a 1-UP above the second plant, then just keep
proceeding right to reach the Goal Ring.

===========================================================================
World 1-4: Burt the Bashful's Fort
===========================================================================

The first castle/fort level is quite short, but harder than any of the other
stages you've played so far. Burt the Bashful awaits at the end.

First, shoot the three buckets to get some coins. Grab the yellow eggs if you
need them. Watch out, because the 5th, 11th, 12th, and 13th wooden wall panels
in this room will try to smash you. Run quickly by them. Work your way to the
gap between the wooden wall panels. Drop down to the lower floor with the
moving platform and the Burts, then go to the left to get FLOWER #1. Jump on
the platform, and go right, past the flippers. Run left of the wooden wall
panel to get FLOWER #2. Go right, and bounce off the spring ball. Grab some
eggs, then go right. Jump across the platforms to the ledge with the wooden
wall panel. The coins immediately to the left and right are RED COINS #1-6.
Keep going right. The last coin in the row of three is RED COIN #7. Hit the
Mid-Ring, then go down the pipe.

Going right after appearing in the next area, the second wooden wall panel will
also try to smash you. Get by that and the spinning spiked ball quickly. Whne
you come to the lava pit, hit the cloud to create a bridge across it. Three of
the 8 coins along that bridge are RED COINS #8-10. Go right and grab the two
coins above the seesaw for RED COINS #11-12. Run down the right side and
snatch FLOWER #3 from the lava. Now quickly run up the seesaw and jump to the
small ledge to find FLOWER #4. Go right, to the spinning ledges. Two of the
coins are RED COINS #13-14. Now, go right, and past the locked door. Cross
the pit quickly, as a Gargantua Blargg will try to get you. Six of the coins
above the pit are RED COINS #15-20. Knock the pot off the small ledge to find
a key, then head back to the lava pit. Hit the Blargg with an egg, then cross
the pit and enter the locked door. Grab six eggs, then go right and into the
first door you find. In this room, shoot down all 4 Piranha Plants to reveal
FLOWER #5. Go back, get more eggs, and go right, past the Mid-Ring, into the
red door to challenge Burt the Bashful...
===========================================================================
BOSS: Burt the Bashful
Hits: 6 (Egg hits)

The quickest and easiest way to win this battle is to come in with six eggs and
stay in the left ditch. When he jumps towards you, shoot an egg to knock him
back. Each time, his jumps are longer. If you can connect on all 6 eggs, you
won't have to leave the ditch. If you do run out, grab some and go to the
other side.
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
World 1-5: Hop! Hop! Donut Lifts
===========================================================================

This level introduces a classic 2-D platforming challenge to this game:
automatic scrolling. That's right, the entire stage is auto-scrolling, meaning
you must be quick to gather 100%. The walkthrough may be iffy here, simply
because it's scrolling.

Anyways, start out by going left with the screen. When you get to the first
set of spinning platforms, get RED COINS #1-2 from the top ones on the sides.
Jump left to the platform and let it go down for FLOWER #1. Jump on the next
set of spinning platforms and get RED COINS #3-4, which are now the bottom ones
on the sides. Quickly get off of it and continue left. Now you have a set of
spinning platforms that you must get along the pathway. Jump on the one on the
far left to get it going, and keep doing so to get it left. RED COINS #5-6 are
under the first wooden ledge, and FLOWER #2 is to the left of them. Jump up
onto the ledge above the flower and kill the Fly Guy to get RED COIN #7. Now,
go left, and across the donut lifts, making sure they don't fall, and start
your ascent with the screen.

After enlarging the purple spotted block, jump on it, then up to the dount
lifts, with FLOWER #3 above them. Jump up the two moving ledges, and up, past
the second purple spotted block, up to the moving spinning platforms, with the
Mid-Ring to the left. Use the same technique, but this time jump to the right
to get RED COINS #8-12 and FLOWER #4. Jump up the side of the hill and up to
the diamond of coins. RED COIN #13 is in the middle. Go up the two wooden
ledges and shoot down the Fly Guy for 5 stars. Quickly continue up the hill,
and up to the moving platform. Snatch RED COIN #14 from the center of the
diamond, then go right and shoot down the winged cloud for 5 stars. Continue
right and kill the Fly Guy for RED COIN #15. Now, jump right across the donut
ledges, and shoot an egg into FLOWER #5 inside the soft rock. Now you must use
the donut ledges' dropping ability to get RED COINS #16-20 from under the
ledges. You can either use the drop, collect, and jump technique, or get on
the goal platform and shoot them with an egg. Either way, make sure to get
them. Now, proceed right and go through the Goal Ring!

===========================================================================
World 1-6: Shy-Guys on Stilts
===========================================================================

Another cave stage. This one is worse than The Cave of Chomp Rock because you
have to deal with pesky Shy Guys on Stilts, plus the cave near the end is above
a bottomless pit. At least there's no automatic scrolling :-).

First, go right, kill the Shy Guys, and use the spring ball to launch up to the
door. If you launch to the top of the cliff, you can find a hidden 1-UP.
Enter the door, and pick up the eggs. The flashing one is valuable, because it
will generate RED COIN #1 when it hits an enemy. Use your special eggs to kill
the Shy Guys, then go back to the previous room and go down the pipe at the
bottom. You'll notice there is limited lighting in here, so be careful. Go
right, and use the spring to go up. Try to hit the balloon so the spring ball
will drop below the coins. Bounce up and collect the coins. RED COINS #2-4
are the 3rd, 4th, and 5th ones from the right (they stand out better in the
dark). Drop down from them to get FLOWER #1 from above the flippers. Rebounce
up and go right, then jump on the platform.

Upon emerging from the cave, stay on the platform and go up to get RED COINS
#5-7. At the end, jump off, and hit the winged cloud for 5 stars. Go right
and hit the Mid-Ring. Now, eat a Shy Guy, but don't turn it into an egg.
Instead, spit it up into the flower for 8 stars. Pound down the post below it
and go through the little passage to get RED COIN #8 and FLOWER #2. Continue
right, and snatch RED COINS #9-10 on the sides of the small pit. Pound down
one of the posts under the coins to get access to FLOWER #3. Now, hit the
winged cloud, stomp the switch, and go to the arrow and go down it like a pipe.
 This will give you your first opportunity to turn into the mole tank. Hit the
winged cloud, then the bubble to transform. I think I'll do a diagram of this
to show the red coins. c represents a coin, and * represents the two red coins
(RED COINS #11-12.):

|_______________________________|

You have a limited time to get these, so you should do it quick. Or, go right
for the Yoshi block, and either climb up the passage you made or shoot some
eggs around to get them. In any case, when you're done, go through the door
(or the pipe if you ran out of time), and you can continue. After emerging, go
right to the flat stretch of land with a couple Shy Guys on Stilts. Kill them,
then jump up, and shoot an egg at FLOWER #4, overhead. Then, go right, pound
down the post, and go into the cave.

Be especially careful on this cave, because of the pit. Go right all the way
to the platform, and use it to launch up to the level where the pipe with the
Lantern Ghosts come out (you will have to jump). Stand on the wooden ledge and
aim an egg or two to get the items there (RED COINS #13-18 and FLOWER #5).
Now, carefully, go down and right and through the flippers. Now proceed right,
and hit the winged cloud to get the seed that will sprout into the beanstalk
you'll need to get out. Jump up the stalk, snatch RED COINS #19-20 from the 4
coins, then go right and use the spring to bounce up. Hit the winged cloud for
5 stars, then run right, under the Goal Ring, and swallow the balloon thing.
If you do, Yoshi will lay an egg, which will hatch into a 1-UP. Now, hit the
Goal Ring to complete the level!

===========================================================================

===========================================================================
World 1-8: Salvo the Slime's Castle
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
BOSS: Salvo the Slime
Hits: 8-10 (Egg hits)

Have at least a few eggs here. The best strategy is to stay on the left side
of the room so he won't knock you into the lava. While he's hopping around,
shoot an egg. If you're luck, the egg will bounce around and get in 2-3 hits.
If you run out of eggs, swallow one of the Lemon Drops he throws off. Each hit
he'll get faster and smaller.

===========================================================================

===========================================================================
BOSS: Bigger Boo
Hits: 5-7 (Egg hits)

As we all know, the ghosts in this game will cover their eyes when you look at
them, making them invincible. We also know we need to bounce an egg off a
wall, facing away from them, to beat them. The same rules apply here. Grab a
couple eggs, then jump on a ledge on either wall and aim. If you can get off a
good shot, it will bounce and hit him. He gets bigger after each hit. If you
run out of eggs, swallow the bats flying around. Try jumping through him when
his eyes are covered (he's almost not there).

BOSS: The Potted Ghost
Hits: 0 (?!)

Your eggs will not help in this battle. The object is to push the ghost's pot
off the right edge of the screen. While dodging his dangerous breath, two
Shy-Guys will make your life miserable by trying to push the pot at you,
attempting to knock you off the left side. Keep pushing as long as possible.
When you knock the Shy-Guys off the edge, the battle is basically over. Just
walk up and apply the final push.

Hits: 12-16 (Egg hits)

Again, the eggs you bring in will not help you, as Froggy will not digest them.
 In his stomach, the two basic hazrads are the acid and the dropping Shy-Guys.
Swallow the Shy-Guys to make huge eggs, then shoot one at the balloon-like
thing at the top. After each hit the acid becomes more numerous and difficlut
to avoid. Just hang on and this battle will be over before you know it.

Hits: 3 (Egg hits)

Bring in at least three eggs to end this battle quickly. This giant Piranha
looks invincible, but check out the white bump with the bandage. To whack it,
bounce an egg off the wall (anyone remember Bigger Boo?). Jump him when he
charges toward you. When he shoots off Nipper Spores, wait until they hit the
ground and transform before you try to make eggs out of them.

BOSS: Marching Milde
Hits: see chart below

Your eggs are again useless here, until the battle is near the end. You need
to pound down on Milde's head to split it in half. Here is a chart showing
this:

                           Marching Milde

rid of them.

BOSS: Hookbill the Koopa
Hits: 3 (Pound-the-ground hits)

At first, it may look hard to get rid of this giant turtle, but it's really
easy. If you don't have any eggs, just jump on his head or back to get 6 of
them. Now, aim for his head and shoot. It will take 4 accurate shots to knock
him on his back. Jump on him, and pound his stomach. He won't like it, so
he'll bounce around. Wait until he goes back to normal, then jump on him to
get more eggs and repeat. If you don't get the hits in fast enough, he'll go
back to normal and normally run towards you.

Hits: 4 (Egg hits)

Actually, that number is the number of times you must penetrate his body and
hit his heart. Grab six eggs from the plant, then aim for his heart. Keep
shooting until there is an opening to hit his heart. Whack it. It will take
about a whole set to hit him once. Go back and refill, then repeat. If he
gets too far left, he'll knock you off the ledge.

World 5-8: Raphael the Raven's Castle
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
BOSS: Raphael the Raven
Hits: 3 (Pound-the-ground to the posts)

This is probably the most annoying battle in the game. The trick is to pound a
post down so it will pop up on the other side, hopefully under Raphael. He
will not make it easy, because he will run around the globe, as well as shoot
electric sparks at you. The best strategy is to wait until he stops on an spot
opposite a pole, then IMMEDIATELY pound the post down so it whacks him on the
other side. He will speed up after each hit, though.

BOSS: Tap-Tap the Red Nose
Hits: 0 (?!)

If you do not figure out the secret of this battle, you will have MAJOR
problems. You might recognize the blocks from the Marching Milde and Hookbill
the Koopa stages. The trick is to open up a big enough hole in the blocks
(shoot them until they disappear), then knock him into it. If you get hit,
there is a cloud in the lowest green block in the second row from the left.
The two plants will keep refilling you with eggs, so keep shooting until he
falls into the lava.

World 6-8: King Bowser's Castle
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
BOSS: King Bowser #1
Hits: 3 (Pound-The-Ground shockwave hits)

This battle is really easy. Jump the shockwave that Bowser creates, then
pound-the-ground and hope he's on the ground when the wave reaches him. Also
make sure he doesn't jump on you' or he'll get that ride he wanted. Whack him
three times, and Kamek will get angry. You know what that means...
===========================================================================
===========================================================================
BOSS: King Bowser #2
Hits: 7 (Egg hits)

This is a nasty battle. Not only will he shoot fireballs at you, the castle
will fall apart with the giant boulders he throws at you. Stay away from the
crosshairs to dodge his three fireballs, grab an egg from a balloon and whack
his face while he's walking towards the castle. After 3-4 hits, he'll throw
more boulders and start running VERY close to the castle. Keep whacking him
until he gives up. Watch out, because if you don't get the last hit in time,
he'll succeed in knocking down the castle, you with it.

--------------------------------MINI-GAMES---------------------------------

===========================================================================
BANDIT BATTLES
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
Throwing Balloons
===========================================================================

In this game, you need to input a series of controller commands within a
certain amount of time. It will vary from 4 to 6 controls. As you throw it
back and forth, the balloon gets bigger. The loser is the one that the balloon
pops on. The prizes vary on the amount of controls. Winning a four control
game gives you a 1-UP, a five gives you a 2-UP, and a six gives you a 3-UP.

===========================================================================
Pop Balloons
===========================================================================

In this game, you will need to use your pound-the-ground technique to pop the
ballons set up on the three floors of this room. The object is to find the
balloon with the star in it before the bandit does. The prize varies from game
to game.

===========================================================================
Seed-Spitting Contest
===========================================================================

In this game, you will be able to use watermelons to shoot at the bandit. A
hit with a normal seed knocks off 1/4 HP. A hit with a fire or ice blast
knocks off about 1/2 to 3/4 HP. The object is to get the bandit down to
nothing. Beware, because he will hide behind the wooden "walls" set up around
the room. You'll get a super watermelon (color varies) for winning, which
gives you twice as many shots as a normal melon.

===========================================================================
Gather Coins
===========================================================================

In this game, you are in a coin-grabbing contest with a bandit. You will get
20-30 seconds to catch them. Bounce on the bandit's head to stun him for a
couple seconds. The prize varies from game to game.

===========================================================================
BONUS CHALLENGES
===========================================================================

===========================================================================
Flip Cards
===========================================================================

The room is comprised of a 3 by 3 grid of squares. The middle one says "Exit",
while the others say "Hit". Aim the cursor to where you want to throw an egg
at. When you hit the "Exit" one, it will ask whether you really want to leave.
 When you hit a "Hit" one, you'll either find an item, a Toady, or Kamek. If
you find an item or Toady, you can keep shooting. If you find Kamek, you lose
the items you've found on the same play, and the game is over. If you can hit
all of the "Hit" squares except the one with Kamek, he'll fly away and give you
a 10-UP.

===========================================================================
Scratch and Match
===========================================================================

The room is comprised of seven scratch pads. Move the finger around to scratch
the pad. Sometimes you'll find a Toady, other times you'll find a baby Mario
head. You get three scratches to find as many Marios as possible. If you get
one, you get a 1-UP, two gets you a 2-UP, and all three nets you a 5-UP.

===========================================================================
Drawing Lots
===========================================================================

The room is comprised of six blinds. Move the cursor around to pick one of
them. If you find an item, you get to keep it. If you find Kamek, you get
nothing. There are two variations. If it's the one after a stage, there will
be three items and three Kameks. If it's the one for getting 100% on World 3,
there will be five items and only one Kamek.

===========================================================================
Match Cards
===========================================================================

The room is comprised of 14 Yoshi cards. They will be shown to you at the
beginning for about 2-4 seconds, then they will flip back over. You need to
try to uncover the cards in pairs. If you find a pair, you get the item. If
you mismatch two times, you lose. If you find six pairs, the seventh one will
give you a 10-UP.

===========================================================================
Roulette
===========================================================================

In order to play this game, you'll need at least two lives. To play, let the
two wheels spin. When you stop it, the first one will slow down and stop, then
the second one will slow down and stop. With the eight different combinations
and 99 different ways to bet, you can go from losing them all to getting 297
1-UPs.  You can get +0, +1, +2, +3, x0, x1, x2, or the best one, x3.  It's all
luck.

===========================================================================
Slot Machine
===========================================================================

This is the toughest of the bonus challenges to win. You need to stop the
rollers one at a time, in an attempt to get a winning combo. The winning
combos are three 7's for 5-UP, three eggs for 3-UP, three cherries for 2-UP, or
a Shy-Guy, star, and melon (in that order, from left to right) for 1-UP. You
have a very slim chance of winning.
