Installation and general notes for using the P-cricket Viewer software.

To install on Windows 95 or equivalent operating systems:

1. Unzip the files into a new folder (directory) e.g. C:\Scores

2. The following files should appear in the folder:

      P-crick.exe (the complete application)
      Aus_vs_SA_12th_ODI.PDB (sample one-day score-sheet)
      Aus_vs_SA_2ndTest.PDB (sample test score-sheet, days 1 and 2)
      Pakistan_v_South_Afr.PDB (sample one-day score-sheet)
      Readme.txt (this file)

3. Use Windows explorer to locate the folder (eg C:\Scores).

4. Double click on P-crick.exe (or create a short-cut by right-clicking on
    the desktop).

5. Select the File-Open menu option, or click on the left-most button
on the toolbar, to open up one of the sample score-sheets above.

6. Use the other menu options and/or toolbar buttons to preview and
    print the sample score-sheets.

7. Use the Palm Hotsync procedure to transfer real score-sheets from the
Palm hand-held to the \Palm\UserName\Backup\ folder.

8. Copy real score-sheets from the Palm backup folder into the score-sheet
    folder (eg C:\Scores).

9. Preview and print any of the score sheets, using the P-cricket viewer.

Cautionary notes regarding Palm score-sheets:

1. During the normal Palm HotSync process, current and archived matches will
be backed up to the \Palm\UserName\Backup directory.

2. From there, one must manually copy the PDB files to a suitable folder, if
one wants to save old matches.

3. The nomal Palm backup directory is not a safe place to store matches.
There is substantial interaction with HotSynch in the back-up directory,
which could overwrite back-ups with newer files, especially the current
    match stored in PcriDB.PDB.

4. It is best to move the score-sheet files manually from the Palm back-up
    directory to a new directory.

About the viewer:

1. The viewer, supplied free of charge, without warranties of any kind,
supplements the P-cricket handheld scoring software. It works on
Windows 95 or later operating systems by opening Palm OS databases
generated by P-cricket, allowing one to preview and print score-sheets
in conventional manual cricket scoring format. Other functions, such
as exports to other applications, on-line help and match summaries,
will be added when the author has some free time to develop the
    concept further.

2. As is the case for P-Cricket running on Palm handheld computers, this
application has been designed and implemented with the focus on minimum
size and maximum speed. This means that installation is as simple as
copying the single exe file to a new directory (folder). The size of the
application is only 200 kbytes. No other DLL's or bloated run-times are
required, and no entries are made by the application either to the
Windows registry or any Windows ini files. To "un-install" the software,
all one has to do is to delete the exe file from the directory.
