4. Playing Instructions

Pong is a game like table tennis that you play against the Palm or yourself.

Serve a ball by pressing the Palm Page Up button.

Press the Palm Left and Right buttons to move the paddle to hit the ball.

If you miss a ball your opponent scores a point and serves another ball. The game ends once five balls have been served.

Start a new game by selecting New from the Game menu, or by pressing the Palm Page Down button.

'Spin' the ball by moving your paddle as you hit the ball. It will rebound at a different angle at a greater speed. If you have Game Sounds enabled you will hear a higher-pitched sound.

Preferences

The game can be played at three different speeds. Select the speed by selecting Preferences from the Game menu at the beginning of a game. If you are a beginner, Slow is most suitable but as you get better you can select Medium or Fast for more of a challenge.

You can play CFB Pong against the Palm or you can control both players yourself. Choose the combination you want by selecting Preferences from the Game menu at the beginning of a game. The choices are You vs Palm, Palm vs You and You vs You. The first named player controls the bottom paddle with the outer left and right buttons. The second named player controls the top paddle with the inner left and right buttons.

Note: The Palm Zire has only one left and one right button. These are used to control the bottom paddle or the top paddle when playing against the Palm, or both paddles when playing You vs You.

Change the volume of the sound effects by selecting the Game Sound option from the General page of the standard Palm Prefs application.

Your preferences are saved from one game to the next.

Note: Menu items can only be selected in Pong when there is a pause in the game - between serves or between games.

Note:
Display a summary of these instructions by selecting Instructions from the Game menu
