About the Program

We have totally revised Runes, the Ancient Oracle
from the previous versions. We have added a
pleasant graphic interface, made the program very
robust and efficient, and we have made many
modifications to make the program very easy and
enjoyable to use. The program will take a bit of time
to load, (a good time to clear your mind) but Runes,
the Ancient Oracle will run very fast, even on a 486
computer.
The previous interface would gather its information
"on the fly".
We decided on loading all the graphics,
interpretations, and many other initializations at the
program start up for Version 4.0. The program will
load on a Pentium 100 machine in (approx) 15 to 25
seconds and 3 to10 seconds on a Pentium 300
machine. The program will run on a 486 or higher
computer with 16MB memory.

Using Runes, the Ancient Oracle

Runes, the Ancient Oracle is very simple to use.
When you start the program, the Runes window will
be in full screen mode. This is to help clear yourself
of any distractions. If you wish, you can click the
"restore" button on the title bar to restore the
program to its smaller size. Odins Rune, the single
Rune Spread is ready and waiting.

You begin by consulting the Runes with a question
or any situation concerning yourself. Cast the
Runes by clicking the "Cast Runes" button and a
Rune will appear. When you move your mouse
pointer over the Rune, your interpretation will
appear. If you would like to spend a moment
reflectng upon your interpretation, just move your
mouse pointer over the interpretation and it will
disappear, leaving you to gaze into the stars.

Using the Spreads

To choose a different Rune Spread, click "Spread"
on the menu bar and make a selection. There is
help for all of the individual Rune spreads within the
"Help" menu. When you click on a Rune spread in
the help menu, the information will appear in the
cloud window. All of the Rune spreads work in the
same manner. You Cast the Runes, and read the
interpretations for each Rune in the spread by
moving your mouse pointer over them.

Positions

When there are more than one Rune in a spread,
they are cast into what is known as "Positions".
When you cast the Runes into these spreads, you
always read their interpretations in a specific order.
If you need a quick reference to remember the
order for that particular spread, click on the
"Positions" menu and they will be listed in the
correct order from (top to bottom). For a more
detailed explanation of a particular position, click
on the Position of your choice and more information
will appear in the cloud window, and if you have
already cast your Runes, the position you clicked
on will be highlighted.

View the Runes

When you select "View the Runes" from the menu
bar, a window will appear that you can use to select
any Rune for viewing and its interpretation. Select a
Rune from the drop down box and click on it and
the Rune and its interpretation will appear. For a
slideshow style view of the Runes in alphabetical
order, you can use the down and up arrows on your
keyboard. When the View the Runes window is on
the screen, the main window will be disabled until
you close the View the Runes window. This is to
preserve any Rune spread you have cast before
opening the View the Runes window. When you
close the View the Runes window, your previous
spread will return to the main window.

Print Spread

If you would like to print out your spread, just click
on "Print" within the "File" menu. Your spread will
be printed out in an attractive format, with each
individual Rune on its own page for a professional
style "report".

Save Spread

To save your spread, just click on "Save Spread"
within the "File" menu and type in a name for your
file. Rune spreads are saved with the extension of
.spd

Load Spread

on "Load Spread" within the "File" menu. Select
the spread file of your choice and click on "Open".
