 SUMMARY
-----------------------------------------------------------
Published in 1992, HOLOSSEUM is the second (and last) of
Sega's "hologram" arcade games, which used nothing more
sophisticated than a television and a spherical mirror
to project the game's graphics into an ostensibly three-
dimensional playing area, lending the images the eerie
 look of a true hologram.

Dismissed by critics as an unplayable novelty, there has
never been a serious discourse on Holosseum's gameplay
 ...UNTIL NOW.

The joystick is used to move, block, and perform special
moves as per every fighting game ever made. There are
only two attack buttons: "Quick Tricks" (QT) and "Fierce
Tricks" (FT). Every character (all four of them) has
three or four special moves, detailed below.

 Now let's introduce the fighters:

 SERIOUS SPOILERS
-----------------------------------------------------------
After beating the other three characters (which can be
player-controlled or CPU-controlled), you must fight the
CPU-controlled "World Champion" in a mirror match.

If you beat the champ, you are subjected to EXTRA FIGHT,
in which you try to knock out ten opponents without being
knocked out yourself. I have never beaten more than two
opponents in a row, and I rather doubt that anyone in the
whole world has made it past all ten fighters.

If someone were to accomplish this...and, oh baby, I'd
love to see it...I suspect that one of three things would
 happen:

 1. GAME OVER
 2. "YOU WIN!" (GAME OVER)
 3. The disembodied announcer-head appears and tells you
what a totally awesome fighter you are. (GAME OVER)

 FAMOUS LAST WORDS
-----------------------------------------------------------
 DOMPAYAGEN: "Thank heavens I won."
DOMPAYAGEN: "No one can survive my kicks."
DAVE: "How do you like my jumping attacks?"
 DAVE: "You hick!" (?)
CHEN: "Your body must be all vein." (?!)
CHEN: "You lost because you did not fight with your soul."
GARRISON: "My arms were made for throwing knives." (?!!)
GARRISON: "I'm telling you this to be nice: My legs
             are stronger than my arms."
ANNOUNCER: "It's always great to see guys in good shape!"

 COMMENTS
-----------------------------------------------------------
I've always has a soft spot for this game, maybe because
the sight of the ghostly fighters duking it out on a
space-age tabletop reminds me of the holographic chess
game that Chewbacca plays on the Millenium Falcon in
 STAR WARS.

Not surprisingly, HOLOSSEUM is more fun to watch than it
is to play. In fact, playing it is no fun at all. This
FAQ is dedicated to anyone who gave it a chance.
