1.  Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You: What the hell? Hey Kitsune, isn't there an FAQ already out for this game?
Me: Well... yes. You must be thinking of Mark O'Neill's Double Dragon FAQ version
2.1, released on August 2nd, 1995. I read it when I was in highschool, and it
helped me to become the master of Billy and Jimmy Lee, and Rebecca! But it was
never updated after that version was released.
Some time later, I found a code that enabled the players to use the bosses, Koga
Shuko and Duke! But, I tried and tried and tried it out, and it never worked (I
always ran out of time on the counter).
Fast forward to about a month ago. I found out that I can play the game in an
emulator on my computer! So I got it and started playing it. After trying and
retrying the boss code, I got fed up with the game... so I set it to 'Home' mode,
just for fun. I thought 'one last time...' and I entered the code. IT WORKED! So
I started messing around with the characters, and I started to write this FAQ to
help all owners of the home version!
Now, all of the character biographies, move names and descriptions were written
originally by Mark O'Neill. I have updated only the information for Duke and Koga
Shuko's moves -  the rest of the character info is complete, and I am not going
to update it. I am, however, adding my own descriptions of the character's moves.
If you have questions on how to play the game, consult his FAQ for complete
instructions. Please do not bother me with questions on the gameplay, thank you.
2.  Boss Code
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Position the cursor on Billy Lee for three seconds. Move the cursor up towards
Marian, and keep it there for three seconds. Move the cursor towards ChengFu,
and leave it for three seconds. Finally, move the cursor towards Jimmy Lee, and
keep it there for 3 seconds. You should hear Marian scream "Bingo!" - Duke and
Shuko's portraits are now at the top of the character select screen!

Just in case you didn't understand, here is a map on how to do this:

Marian    --2   0    Dulton
          | ^
          | |
Eddie     | 0   0    Rebecca
          | ^
          | |
Billy     | 1   4    Jimmy
          |     ^
          |     |
Burnov    | 0   0    Amon
          |     ^
          |     |
Abobo     | 0   3    ChengFu
          |     ^
          - - - |

Remember, the code is for the home version only! I am unaware if the code works
on the Neo-Geo CD or Playstation versions. If you can verify it for me, please
email me!

3.  Bosses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duke
---= Character data =--------------------------------------------------
     Birthplace     -  San Francisco                   POW:  4
     Height         -  6' 4"                           SPD:  5
     Weight         -  189 lbs                         DEF:  4
     Fighting Style -  Moukohisouken
     Interests      -  Origami
---= Holds/Throws =----------------------------------------------------
     - B or C - You grab the enemy and hit him with a straight punch.
     - D      - you do the same, but Duke screams differently and
                the attack is slightly stronger.
---= Air Throws =------------------------------------------------------
      * none *
---= Special Moves =---------------------------------------------------
~~~~~~Air Punches
                  Hold  | ,   O  + button
                        O     |
         Duke jumps at the enemy, lands on top of him, and starts punching
         him rapidly, a total of 8 times. It does not count as an 8 hit
         combo for some reason.

~~~~~~Flaming Tiger Fist
                  | \  -O   + button
                  O  O
         It is a charge attack which acts like Billy/Jimmy's hadouken
         motion attack (So Syu Ga); except this one hits the enemy and
         sets him ablaze.
~~~~~~Flash Knee Kick
                  -O | \    + button
                     O  O
         A Shoryuken type attack. It is invincible; also, if you miss,
         you can still hit the enemy on the way down!

~~~~~~Diving Knee Kick
                  Jump,  then press O- / |  + button
                                  O  O
         Duke dives forward with his knees bent, hitting the enemy.
~~~~~~Teleport Punch
                  Hold / for a moment, then press -O + button
                       O

          Duke dissapears, and teleports next to the enemy, hitting him by
          surprise with a punch. The computer usually attacks you from behind.
          Duke is vulnerable for a moment after he appears, just before he throws
          the punch.

          If you press the A or B button, you'll appear in front of the enemy; if
          you use the C or D button, you'll attack from behind.

---= Charge Moves =----------------------------------------------------

~~~~~~Super Flaming Tiger Fist
           | \  -O   + 2 buttons
           O  O
         It's just like Billy's Super Flaming Dragon Fist, except it is much
         easier to combo, and it hits 5 times.
~~~~~~Super Eagle Flash Knee Kick
               -O | \    + 2 buttons
                  O  O
         Duke jumps forward, lifting his opponent and hitting him multiple times.
         It hits up to 8 times, and causes _very_ heavy damage.

~~~~~~Diving Knee Kick    * Charge Attack*
              Jump,  then press O- / |  + 2 buttons
                                  O  O
         Duke dives forward with his knees bent, hitting you many times. If he
         catches you while in the air, it causes more damage.
---= Notes =-----------------------------------------------------------
         Many of the attacks that Duke uses are regular punches and kicks. Mark
         O'Neill said that they were probably special attacks; I have confirmed
         that this is untrue.
         The "Combo Punches" are performed by pressing C at a distance from the
         enemy.
         The "Flash Wheel Kick" is performed by pressing the D button. If you're
         standing, Duke jumps forward; if you're kneeling, he jumps backward. If
         you're jumping, he performs it, no matter in what direction you're
         moving.
         His Close C and D button attacks perform an automatic combo - C hits
         twice, once in the midsection and once in the lower part; D hits down,
         up, and finally the middle part of the enemy. The D button attack is
         especially useful - it can be comboed into a Super Flaming Tiger Fist,
         or a Super Eagle Flash Knee Kick!
Koga Shuko
---= Character data =--------------------------------------------------
     Birthplace     -  Los Angeles                     POW:  4
     Height         -  6' 1"                           SPD:  4
     Weight         -  189 lbs                         DEF:  4
     Fighting Style -  Kobujutsu and Ninpoh
     Interests      -  Chess, Shougi (Japanese Chess)
---= Holds/Throws =----------------------------------------------------
     - B or C - You grab the enemy and hit him with a straight punch.
     - D      - You grab the enemy and throw him straight up into the air. You
                can hit the enemy while they're falling down. The CPU usually
                hits you with a Fireball, but you can also use the Air Teleport
                Foot Stomp with the A button.
---= Air Throws =------------------------------------------------------
          *none*
---= Special Moves =---------------------------------------------------
~~~~~~Air Teleport Foot Stomp
                  | ,   O  + button
                  O     |
         Shuko dissapears and appears above you, stomping your head. If you are
         on the ground, he will jump down, grab you by the back, and set you on
         fire. If you are jumping, he will step on your head repeatedly. The
         computer seems to be able to do either of these even if you are on the
         ground.

~~~~~~Fireballs
                  | \ -O   + button
                  O  O
         Shuko lights up his hand and throws a fireball at you. It follows an arc
         above the ground. When it hits you, it knocks you down. If you use it
         next to your enemy, his hand stuns them and he finishes with the
         fireball.
~~~~~~Jumping Fireball
                  Jump, -O \  |  /  O-  + button
                            O O O
          Shuko throws a fireball downwards.

~~~~~~Ground Fireball
                  -O \  |  /  O-  + button
                      O O O
          Shuko kneels and throws a quick fireball close to the ground.
~~~~~~Lightning Column
                  -O | \  + button
                     O  O
          This attack is similar to Amon's Super Ninja Bomb. If you use the A or
          B button, Shuko throws one Lighting Bolt. Use the C or D button, and he
          throws two. The attack covers the entire area in front and above him,
          all the way up to the ceiling!

~~~~~~Teleport
             O-  -O + button
          This is not an attack, but an escape method. It can evade any type of
          attack! The only downside is that the computer is able to grab you
          while you're performing it.
---= Charge Moves =----------------------------------------------------
      Shadow Attack
                  -O | \  +2  buttons
                     O  O
          Shuko turns into his shadow, and tries to grab you. If he succeeds, he
          starts hitting you many times and finishes you with a Lightning Column.
      Razor Attack
                  -O \  |  /  O-  + 2 buttons
                      O O O
          Shuko kneels and throws a razor-like special move that
---= Notes =-----------------------------------------------------------
      When playing against him, he doesn't use any special moves until you have
      beaten him one round.
      I have never seen the "Shadow Teleport" nor the "Super Shadow Attack" in
      the home version. They were probably added in the CD version.
