=i. Introduction & Version History=
=---------------------------------=
Well, at first I thought there were only 3 Picross games made until
I recently discovered 7 new games just released in Japan last year on
the SNES. There are 7 Volumes to this game of Picross. The title of the
game is Picross NP Vol. 1-7 and each volume is a separate game.

The fascinating thing about this is that each volume of the game has
been released exactly two months after the previous one before it was
released, and each one was released on the 1st of the month. So the
next volume (Volume 8) will be released this June. Volume 7 was just
released this Month (April 1, 2000)!

This FAQ is for Volume 4 of the series, Picross NP Vol. 1-7 are
the latest Picross games in the Picross series. And each two months
a new volume is added to the series, so June 1, expect Volume 8. Nintendo
has announced the release of a "Pokemon Picross" game but I currently have
no release date.

So currently there is a count of 10 Picross games in all. NP Mario
no Super Picross Vol. 1-7; Mario no Super Picross; Mario's Picross;
Picross 2. Each great in it's own way.

=I. About the Game=
=-----------------=
Mario's Picross has been on a total of 2, possibly 3 systems. It was
on the Gameboy 2 times. Once was "Mario's Picross" on the Gameboy released
in the United States. The 2nd was Pikurosu 2 (Picross 2) which was also
released on the Gameboy, but only in Japan in 1996. And obviously it is on
the SNES with Mario no Super Picross only released in Japan as well as NP
Mario no Super Picross Vol. 1-7 which were just released in 1999,2000. There is
also another game on the PSX similar to Picross.

In each puzzle, your goal is to complete the hidden picture by chiseling
out the correct blocks. How do you know which blocks are the correct ones?
There are numbers on top of each row/column of blocks telling you how many
blocks to chisel up, down, left, or right.

Keep in mind that no 2 consecutive number of blocks may be chiseled.
For example, on the top first column, let's say it has the numbers:
"3 1 1" This means that 3 blocks will be chiseled first in this column, then
you must leave AT LEAST 1 BLOCK empty before chiseling the next number,
which in this case is 1. If you get stuck, remember to look at both the
column and row numbers. Many of the puzzles can be solved within 3-8 minutes.

For more information, watch for my upcoming "How to Play" guide which
I will have up in a few weeks.
