Banjo-Tooie Secrets FAQ V1.8 January 5, 2001 Daniel (FecalLord) Engel fecalord@crapmail.com ICQ: 9722762 AUTHORS NOTE - It seems that Banjo-Tooie DOES somehow give you access to areas in Banjo-Kazooie. The feature has NOT been dropped like many sites and people are claiming. Apparently EVERYTHING needs to be found in Banjo-Tooie first though. No one has figured out the connection yet though, read more at the recent (November 28th) story at http://www.fgnonline.com/nintendo/news/16538.html IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE - www.rarenet.com should be updating soon with more information about the Banjo-Kazooie/Banjo-Tooie connection so KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! AUTHORS WORDS - Come on people there is definitely a connection between the two games. Many people have all the items in the game (myself included) so far, these people should be testing things whenever they can. ========================== BANJO KAZOOIE SECRET ITEMS ========================== This section covers the 3 secret items that were revealed in Banjo Kazooie that are now accessible in Banjo-Tooie. Of course I am talking about the two mystery eggs (pink and blue) and the ice key. ------- Ice Key ------- Required: Grip Grab Skill The Banjo Kazooie ice key can be found in Jinjo Village. Once you are here walk towards the sandy section behind the green Jinjo's house. Jump onto the platforms/steps and jump up to the ledge above them. While hanging off the ledge, shuffle to the right until you can pull yourself up. You will see an entrance to a cave, enter it. Once inside you will see a small Banjo-Kazooie game cartridge moving around. Attack it to break it open, the ice key will fly out of its remains. Pick it up and add it to your collection. ---------------- Pink Mystery Egg ---------------- Required: Grenade Eggs The pink mystery egg can be found in spiral mountain where you start your game. Just above the tree stumps that have the speed shoes and rubber boots you will see a fenced-in room in the wall. Fire a grenade egg at it to destroy it. Now just use a flying pad to fly over there. Once inside break the BK game pak that you find to get the egg. Now go visit Heggy at the Wooded Hollow and give her the egg. She will hatch it for you and you will be rewarded with the Breegull Bash move. It is performed by taping A twice while standing still. The move involves Banjo pulling Kazooie out of his backpack by her feet and slamming her down in front of him. Heggy's house can be found in Wooded Hollow, the tunnel is just opposite the entrance to the Mayahem Temple stage. ---------------- Blue Mystery Egg ---------------- Required : Grip Grab Skill The third BK game pak can be found in the spiral mountain area. (just like the pink egg) Take off from any flying pad and fly towards the only waterfall. You will notice a flight pad right beside it, fly into the cave that the water is coming from. Jump or swim up the flowing water, then jump up onto the ledge that appears on your left. You will notice the third BK game pak, but it is behind a fence. Walk towards the waterfall on the ledge and do a backflip against the wall. You will catch a ledge, now just shuffle to the right, behind the waterfall. Pull yourself up and follow the tunnel to the gamepak. Break it open for the blue mystery egg. Now go visit Heggy at the Wooded Hollow and give her the egg. She will hatch it for you and you will be rewarded with the Homing Eggs cheat. Go type HOMING in (Mayahem Temple stage) and try it out, now all the eggs you fire, will curve towards the nearest enemy. Though it does not hit them all the time, it makes things a lot easier. =================== Banjo Tooie Secrets =================== This section covers the mystery eggs, Cheato cheats, and other secrets. ------------ Mystery Eggs ------------ These eggs unlock various extras in the game, the following list gives their locations, requirements for getting them, and their reward. Yellow Egg - Found: Heggy's house (see Pink Mystery Egg above for more details). Required: Split Up Skill, Hatch Skill. Info: Once inside split up, as Kazooie go up the ramp, then jump on the egg and hatch it. Reward: Jinjo as a multiplayer character. ------------- Cheato Cheats ------------- Cheato can be found inside the witch's head on Spiral Mountain. For every 5 of his pages that you find, he will tell you one cheat. You must then activate the cheat in the Mayahem Temple stage. (you need grenade eggs to get inside the temple with the letter-board, or you can kick the door down with the golden goliath that Mumbo commands.) This tempe is found near Wumba's Wigwam. You can also type CHEATO followed by the cheat spelled backwards for any of the first 5 cheats. This gets you the cheat without having to find Cheato's pages. Here is a list of Cheato's Cheats and their effect: CHEATO ACTIVATOR For any cheat below that mentions a CHEATO activator, simply type CHEATO before you type in the cheat. 1. FEATHERS - Doubles the maximum number of feathers (red/gold) that you can carry. CHEATO SREHTAEF also works, this gives you the cheat without collecting the Cheato pages. 2. EGGS - Doubles the maximum number of eggs (normal/fire/grenade/ice/remote) that you can carry. CHEATO SGGE also works, this gives you the cheat without collecting the Cheato pages. 3. FALLPROOF - No energy is lost from falls anymore. CHEATO FOORPLLAF also works, this gives you the cheat without collecting the Cheato pages. 4. HONEYBACK - Your health bar regenerates. CHEATO KCABYENOH also works, this gives you the cheat without collecting the Cheato pages. 5. JUKEBOX - Fixes Jukebox in Jolly Roger Bay, this lets you play any of the 95 musical tracks of the game that you have heard already. CHEATO XOBEKUJ also works, this gives you the cheat without collecting the Cheato pages. 6. GETJIGGY - The signs in Master Jiggywiggy's house will tell you were some of the jiggies are in the game. This one you get by going into Gruntilda's fortune telling booth in Witchyworld. Keep going inside until you get the cheat, it can take a LONG time. *NOTE* A lazy way to do this is to stand in front of the tent and rotate the camera so that the door is directly in front of you. Now pause the game, hold the joystick all the way down (straight down) and press L, R, and START. Now unpause the game, Banjo should be walking forward on his own. Now get something like a CD case to weigh down the A button, this will speed up Grunty's text. Watch it for a few minutes to make sure it is working properly. If it is, then you can leave the game on for as long as it takes to get the cheat. Once you have the cheat be sure to fix your joystick by pressing L, R and START again, without touching the joystick. CHEATO YGGIJTEG also works, this gives you the cheat without visiting the fortune telling tent in Witchyworld. 7. SUPERBANJO - Banjo runs very fast, need the CHEATO activator first. 8. SUPERBADDY - Enemies move very fast, need the CHEATO activator first. 9. HONEYKING - Gives you infinite energy and air. Must use CHEATO activator first. 10. NESTKING - Gives you infinite eggs for all types of eggs, and infinte feathers of both types. Must use CHEATO activator first. 11. JIGGYWIGGYSPECIAL - Unlocks all of the levels, need the CHEATO activator first. 12. HOMING - All eggs fired home in on the nearest enemy. (This one you get with the blue mystery egg, see above, not with Cheato pages.) JIGGYSCASTLIST - Unlocks the character parade video that you see when you get all 90 jiggies. This movie also gets unlocked by using the code below (PLAYITAGAINSON). You need to use the CHEATO activator though. Won't work if you have 90 jiggies already or have typed in the PLAYITAGAINSON code below. PLAYITAGAINSON - Unlocks all of the movies, bosses, and minigames for the replay option in the main menu of the game. You need the CHEATO activator first though. ------------- Misc. Secrets ------------- Double Air - Once you have the Bill Drill Skill, return to spiral Mountain. Near Banjo's house there is a boulder, destroy it with the Bill Drill. Now pick up the fish beneath it, and jump into the moat. The fish will reward you with double air. (You also get a faster swim from the fish, which you perform by holding A and B together.) Mega-Glowbo - Once you have the ice key head to the Glitter Gulch Mine stage. Go past the water collection area and into a room full of water. Talon torpedo the blocked wall underwater and swim through it to a section of Hailfire Peaks. You will see a HUGE ice chest, approach it and your ice key will unlock it. Inside you find the rare Mega-Glowbo. Dragon Kazooie - Bring the Mega-Glowbo to Humba Wumba's hut in Pine Grove. (near the entrance to the Witchyworld stage) She will then transform Kazooie into a dragon! You can still do all of your old moves, but when standing still instead of doing a peck attack Kazooie breathes fire. This fire attack is obviously more powerful than the old peck attack and kills many enemies with one hit. ========= QUESTIONS ========= (Email me if you know the answer, once verified I will credit you. *VERY IMPORTANT* Read my FAQ first so that you are not submitting information that I already have. I only have patience for so many emails, ;-> ) Are those ALL the cheats, and secrets? I hope not! I'm going to add more as I find them, and as you tell them to me. ======== THEORIES ======== *NOTE* I am in no way taking the credit for these theories, they are merely a listing of what I feel to be the more concrete theories in the list of many that I see, get told about, or think about each day. Here are a few areas of interest in the game that many people believe will lead to the discovery of new secrets: -Why do you have 2 or 4 Doubloons left over (Depends whether you rented the room or blasted the door open) after completing all of Jolly Roger Bay? What is the deal with Blackeye the pirate, and the pictures of various Banjo-Kazooie secrets in his room? -Will any clues arise by talking to characters as Banjo alone, Kazooie alone, Mumbo? Talking to the Jinjo families? -Where did Captain Blubber disappear to after you helped him? -Is there a grey Jinjo, after their house was crushed? -Is Gruntilda's last name (found out during the final battle) of any use at all? (Winkybunion) -Ok I personally think this is a big one, most people will tend to agree that Grunty's last name (WINKYBUNION) is of some importance. Now if you check the theories section below you will also notice that Grunty's eye is missing in many places in the two games. What I think is this: WINKYBUNION must be part of a code but with either the LEFT "I" MISSING, or the right, or both. Meaning WNKYBUNION could be part of a code. I don't know if any of you will agree with this but I think I'm onto something here. (Many people have tried this -Why is Grunty missing her left eye in so many places in the two games? (BT: In the game's intro, little doll in pawno's emporium, entrance to Cheato in spiral mountain, BK: grunty face near blue warp cauldron the eye exploded to give you a jiggy.) -Why is Grunty missing her right eye after the final battle when it's her left eye that's missing in all the other places mentioned above? Did Rare mess it up? -When you complete the bonus JiggyWiggy puzzle within the time limit, is there a clue in his words? ("You must be the chosen one") -Why is Bottles house locked up near the end of the game? There doesn't seem to be any point to this. -Where are Tooty and Brentilda in Banjo-Tooie, if they are in the game? (I DON'T mean the pictures of them, I mean the characters.) -Will any events take place by playing a certain tune on the Jukebox in Jolly Roger Bay? (The jukebox is located fairly close to Black-Eye the pirate...) -I have been informed (by one person, so if anyone alse can confirm this then tell me) that this question is in the Tower Of Tragedy Game: Which of these Banjo-Kazooie levels is not featured in Banjo-Tooie? A - Gobi's Desert B - Freezeezy Peak C - Treasure Trove Cove Also "A" is the right answer for this question. This further supports the fact that the link between the two games is still there in one form or another.
