Have decided to create a guide for all courses as opposed
to just Tatooine. Replacing the Beginners Course FAQ, this
is the first version of a somewhat more comprehensive guide.

2.0 PURPOSE OF FAQ
    ==============
This FAQ is designed to provide a guide for completing the four
tracks in Star Wars Racer Arcade. It takes a look at the control
system and contains brief descriptions of the game characters. It also
provides basic information on the game's website along with some
    techniques for improving lap time.

    ============
3.0 INTRODUCTION
    ============
Star Wars Racer Arcade is based upon the famous podracing scene from
Episode 1: The Phantom Menace where Anakin defeats Sebulba to win the
Boonta Classic. To coincide with the movie's highly anticipated
release in 1999, a home version for the N64 and PC was produced by
Lucasarts. Choosing from a variety of podracers including Anakin,
Sebulba and Aldar Beedo, your task was to race in over 20 courses to
win prize money. The PC version was also ported over to the
Dreamcast console earlier this year. Although criticised for being a
simplistic Wipeout clone, the game was praised for its sensation of
    speed and excellent track design.

I first heard about Star Wars Racer Arcade in August 1999 through a
now-defunct website called www.time-extended.com. They had managed
to obtain a movie of what is now the game's introduction sequence.
It was originally shown at a Japanese coin-op event in order to drum
up publicity. Although short in length, the sequence was impressive
enough to catch my attention. I also learned that the game was
being produced by Sega R&D #5 (now Sega Rosso), also responsible for
Star Wars Trilogy Arcade in 1998.

Throughout late 1999 and early 2000, Sega continued to tease pundits
by releasing photographs of the game via the gaming press and various
internet sights. It all came to a head in early 2000 when a
videotape preview of the game was shown at London's ATEI (Amusement
Trades Exhibition International). Eventually the game was unveiled
    at Japan's AOU2000 show.

The first thing that strikes you about Star Wars Racer Arcade are the
visuals. Running at a consistent 60 fps, the game boasts graphics
similar to those found on top range PCs. The pods themselves have
been re-designed in high resolution and are packed with incredible
detail. Backgrounds, although clear and crisp, do seem rough around
the edges and are fairly bland at times.

However the most important aspect of Star Wars Racer Arcade is the
unique control system. In order to create a more immersive
experience, the pods are controlled by two analogue throttle sticks.
Pulling one throttle back will enable the pod to take corners while
keeping both throttles forward allows full acceleration. It works
remarkably well and gives the impression you're actually racing
something out of a sci-fi movie as opposed to a bog-standard vehicle.
However controlling the pod does take getting used to, so be prepared
    to practise!!!

Along with the throttle sticks, there's a large blue button used for
turbo boosting. When pressed, an impressive motion-blur effect is
produced and pod acceleration dramatically increases, allowing you to
reach speeds exceeding 900 kph!!! Boosts are restricted to three per
race meaning you'll have to incorporate strategy in their use. An
Air Brake is also mounted on the right throttle, but as most
deceleration is done via the throttle sticks, use is limited.

Star Wars Racer Arcade comes in two cabinets - Twin Type and Deluxe.
The Deluxe version is designed in the style of Anakin's pod while the
Twin-Type has two standard seats (in the colours of Anakin and
Sebulba). The game is powered by Sega's HIKARU board, a complex piece
of hardware with a double-CPU offering enhanced technology of the
popular NAOMI board. Originally codenamed SK-V, HIKARU is very
expensive, limiting the game to more larger arcades. HIKARU will
also be used for Planet Harrier, the highly anticipated sequel to
    Sega's 1985 classic Space Harrier.

    =============
4.0 GAME OVERVIEW
    =============
The object of the game is simple: race around a course in the fastest
time possible. Each time a lap is completed, you're awarded a time
extension. Fail to complete a lap before the time runs out and it's
Game Over. Choose from 4 circuits; Tatooine Bantha Tracks, Etti IV,
Malastare or Tattoine Boonta Classic, each represented by difficulty.
There's an initial choice of 2 podracers; the young hero Anakin
Skywalker or the corrupt reigning champion Sebulba. After a while
the remaining podracers, Gasgano and Ben Quadrinaros are unlocked.
Each character has their own unique racing style based on speed,
    acceleration, control and strength.

The one-player game pits you against 12 other podracers. Get a fast
enough time and you can register it on the ranking board. There are
three sorts of times: overall best times overall best time for each
character and best lap. To get on the board, you need to be faster
than the current 10 best times displayed. For best lap, beat the
fastest lap time shown on the demo screen and to get the best time
for a character, beat the time shown on the Character Select Screen.
Finish in 3rd position or higher to get a password which can be used
to register your time on the internet at www.sega.co.jp/racer.

If you have the Twin-Type or linked Deluxe machines in your local
arcade, up to 4 human players can compete against each other for VS
play. Each player will need to enter their initials after selecting
their character so they can be identified from the CPU racers. As
with nearly every Sega driving game since Daytona USA, races are kept
close by increasing the top speed and acceleration of any player who
isn't in 1st place. This helps level out the playing field, reducing
the chance of being overlapped by more experienced players.

    =================
5.0 CONTROL MECHANISM
    =================

 5.1 Throttle Sticks
     ---------------
The throttle sticks are analogue meaning speed and acceleration are
regulated by how far they're moved. For instance keeping both
throttles at the halfway mark will cap your top speed while pushing
them fully forward to MAX enables top acceleration. This is done by
the use of potentiometers which varies the voltage level depending on
how far the throttle is pushed. It's used to simulate the fuel flow
which increases during acceleration and decreases when slowing.

Each throttle stick controls one of the pod's two engines*. Easing
one throttle back while keeping the other forward steers the pod. By
reducing the power in one engine so it differs from the other, your
pod will turn. It takes a while to get used to controlling speed and
handling with the same peripheral, but keep practising and your
     efforts will be rewarded.

An important technique to use when cornering is COUNTER-STEERING.
You'll need to ease the throttle back a short distance, then forward
again in order to keep your speed up and avoid crashing. Think along
the same lines of counter-steering in Sega Rally when steering the
wheel left and right to prevent the car from crashing during a slide.
Avoid pulling back too far as you'll end having to 'swim' the pod out
of trouble using both throttles to regain control. Counter-steering
takes a lot of practice to perfect, but persevere and you'll see the
     results.

Another vital technique in Star Wars Racer Arcade is AIRBORNE
POWERSLIDING. Akin to sliding cars on Sega Rally, a similar thing
can be done with the pods. Pull back on the throttle to place the
pod at an angle, hesitate for a split second, then carefully ease it
forward. If done correctly you'll see the speedometer stop for a
moment while the pod slides before fluctuating again.

     * Ben Quadrinaros has four engines so each throttle stick controls
       two of his engines.

 5.2 Air Brake
     ---------
The air brake reduces speed without having to turn. It's used mainly
to stop your pod rearing other racers. However you may need it with
Ben to avoid hitting the wall on sharp corners. It should also be
used if you misjudge a turn.

 5.3 Turbo Boost
     -----------
When executed, speed and acceleration are dramatically increased.
Actual acceleration rate and top speed depend on which pod you're
using. Having just 3 boosts per race means you'll have to inject
some strategy into where best to use them. During this period your
engines become very hot and sustain more damage should you crash.
Therefore the button remains depressed until the boost expires to
     avoid overheating.

As you'll be travelling at ludicrous speeds, controlling the pod is
CONSIDERABLY harder so bear this in mind when turning!!

    =================
6.0 ON-SCREEN SYMBOLS
    =================

 6.1 Speedometer (Bottom Right)
     --------------------------
Self explanatory - shows pod speed in kph.

 6.2 Tachometer (Bottom Right)
     -------------------------
Measures speed and acceleration rate. Acceleration and speed are
indicated by the circular red/white line. During a boost, it
continues past your normal top speed mark into the turbo section
(marked out by a red underline).

If one of your engines catches fire, a symbol appears in the middle
of the tachometer. Only ever seen it happen to other players, but I
think it prevents you operating the damaged engine properly.
NOTE: If you know exactly what it means, please e-mail me.

 6.3 Engine Symbol (Bottom Left)
     ---------------------------
Indicates engine condition. While it remains dormant, your pod
functions normally. Crash a few times and the symbol begins to flash
yellow. If one of your engines starts smoking, it turns red.
Engines repair themselves in time, provided you don't crash again!!

    ==========
7.0 CHARACTERS
    ==========
NOTE: Turning, Top Speed, Acceleration and Strength are based upon
the stats during the Character Select Screen along with my own personal
experience. Subject to constant change, why not e-mail me and give
    your opinions on each character.

 7.1 Anakin Skywalker
     ----------------
      Turning: 7/10
      Top Speed: 10/10
      Acceleration: 6/10
      Strength: 7/10

Anakin has constructed his pod with one clear objective: SPEED!!
Reaching over 930 kph during a boost, he's well suited to the open
planes of Tatooine. However slow acceleration does makes it difficult
to maintain high speed. Anakin handles fairly well although the pod
is hard to control during a boost and the cockpit does swing about
      during turns.

 7.2 Sebulba
     -------
      Turning: 6/10
      Top Speed: 7/10
      Acceleration: 10/10
      Strength: 8/10

A scoundrel he may but Sebulba is, without question, the best
character for the Tatooine courses. Excellent acceleration out of
the turns make him the expert's choice (see www.sega.co.jp/racer for
confirmation). Another asset is his robust design, allowing faster
recovery from scrapes and collisions. However, weak handling means
he's not suitable for the technical courses of EttiIV and Malastare.
Sebulba's craft also has average top speed so you need good racing
      skills to achieve results.

 7.3 Ben Quadrinaros (Time Release)
     ------------------------------
      Turning: 5/10
      Top Speed: 9/10
      Acceleration: 8/10
      Strength: 7/10

To compete in this deadly sport, Ben has hired a pod that's got
one thing above all else: POWER!!. With four engines he excels in
both speed and acceleration, with the ability to maintain a fast
pace even on corners!! However as the pod's deceleration rate is
very slow, it makes turning very difficult. You need to corner
much earlier to avoid scraping the sides. Although tough to master,
Ben is probably the best all-rounder in the game and can be used
effectively on every course. Japanese players have even gained the
fastest times on EttiIV with Ben, as opposed to Gasgano!!!

 7.4 Gasgano (Time Release)
     ----------------------
      Turning: 10/10
      Top Speed: 6/10
      Acceleration: 7/10
      Strength: 8/10

With its distinct whistling sound, the muti-limbed Gasgano has
designed a pod that's perfect for racing technical circuits.
Unsurpassed handling allows him to take even the most treacherous
corner effectively. A small cockpit also gives Gasgano the ability
to squeeze past the competition. The best choice for Malastare and
my personal favourite on EttiIV. However, leave him in the pit
      when racing on Tatooine!!

 7.5 Time Release System
     -------------------
According to www.segaarcade.com, Gasgano is released after the machine
has registered 700 (?!) plays and Ben becomes available after the
Boonta Classic course has been cleared 50 times. However Gasgano was
released about 3 days after the game arrived in the arcade and I'm
quite certain it hadn't been played 700 times, despite its popularity.
Ben became selectable soon after people started completing the Boonta
Classic, but again I don't think that course had been clocked 50
times, perhaps about 30 at the most.

Another point mentioned was that both Ben & Gasgano stay unlocked once
released. This is misleading because when the game arrived at my
arcade, Gasgano and Ben were released, but when the machine was reset
they were locked off again. Maybe there is a SAVE feature in the
options to keep them unlocked after a score reset? If you know,
     please e-mail me.

I think if you play on linked Deluxe or Twin-Type machines, Ben and
Gasgano will come out on both once the total tally of plays hits the
     mark.

7.6 Other Racers (who may/may not be in the game)
     ---------------------------------------------
Aldar Beedo (Wide Blue Pod) - The CPU front runner alongside the
four playable characters. He represents both an opportunity and
obstacle. With the widest pod he's the most likely candidate for
'bumping' you on a course. However get stuck behind him and you'll
     have trouble overtaking.

     Ark "Bumpy" Roose
     Boles Roor
     Clegg Holdfast
     Dud Bolt
     Ebe Endocoot
     Elan Mak
     Mars Guo
     Mawhonic
     Neva Kee
     Ody Mandrell
     Ratts Tyerell
     Teemto Pagalies
     Wan Sandage

For background information on each racers, check out the GLOSSARY
section at www.sega.co.jp/racer. You will need to have at least
Ver. 3 of Macromedia Flash on your computer. Alternatively you can
view the GLOSSARY using a Dreamcast with its Internet Browser. Be
warned though, on a TV screen it's quite hard to read small fonts
     so use the ZOOM feature.

    ===================
8.0 BLOWING UP CPU PODS
    ===================
You may have probably noticed that some pods explode during the race.
Well, here's how it happens: With the exception of the four playable
characters, each time a CPU pod gets involved in a collision, an engine
begins to smoke. Once thick black smoke appears just one more collision
will cause the engine to explode, blowing up the whole pod. If you
want to blow up a CPU pod, try hitting from the side as ramming it
from behind causes you to slow down. Also avoid destroying them in
narrow canyons as the debris can bring you to a near dead halt!!

To conclude, blowing up pods is best left in VS mode. However you may
want to destroy Aldar Beedo if possible as his wide pod does cause
    problems.

    =======
9.0 BUMPING
    =======
Easily overlooked, this unorthodox strategy holds the key to record
times. Being reared by a CPU pod can reduce lap times by up to 0.5
seconds!! Firstly, learn the race patterns of CPU pods. Just when
a pod attempts to get past, steer in front of them for a nudge of
extra speed. To determine when a pod is about to try and overtake,
you need to listen for the sound of approaching engines. It's just
a shame that a rear view wasn't included so this technique could be
    fully exploited!!

BE CAREFUL WHEN GETTING 'BUMPED' ON NARROW SECTIONS AS YOU'LL NEED
QUICK REACTIONS TO AVOID HITTING THE WALL!!!

TOP TIP: Here's some advice to help take full advantage of 'bumping'.
This strategy requires you to have at least two linked Deluxe or Twin
Type machines with only ONE person playing. Ask a friend to watch the
screen on the vacant cabinet as it follows you throughout the race.
Get them to warn you when a pod is about to overtake.

Major 'bump' points will be listed in the COURSE GUIDE section for
    each track.

     =============
10.0 GENERAL HINTS
     =============

     * Learn how to use the controls effectively and memorise the courses.
Don't expect spectacular times on your first attempts.

     * Try keeping your pod as straight as possible. Keep turning angles
at a minimum to avoid speed loss.

     * Avoid rearing CPU pods. If you detect a collision, squeeze the
       air brake slightly!!

     * Study the race patterns of CPU pods to determine the best spot to
       get bumped.

     * Don't use Ben on your first attempts. Gain some experience with the
other pod racers before trying him out.

     * Make each play count!! Even if you mess up, try experimenting with
corners and race lines to see if you can get better results.

11.0 VIEWS
     =====
There are two views available in this game. Driver's View is the
default selection and places the camera in front of the cockpit.
Third Person View is obtained by pressing the START button at the
beginning of a race. It positions the camera a short distance
     behind your pod.

I find the Third Person View the most effective as I can turn better
when the whole pod is visible. However other players have gained good
results using Driver's View, plus you do get a better sensation of
     speed.

Try not to switch views during the race as it can be disorientating.

     ==========
12.0 JUMP START
     ==========
Before the start of a race, pull both throttles fully back to MIN. At
the very moment Fode & Beed (Announcer) shout "GO", slam both levers
fully forward to MAX! When done successfully the screen blurs and
your pod flies off the starting line, accelerating rapidly. It's very
easy to pull off and absolutely essential for good course times!!

13.0 TATOOINE: BANTHA TRACKS GUIDE (Easy)
     ====================================

Basking in the heat of Tatooine's twin suns, Bantha Tracks is the
perfect course for honing your pod skills. A sun-drenched speedway,
the only hazards are the narrow canyon and subsequent arches.
However negotiating them soon becomes second nature after a few races.

Ideal Lap Times (Approx) - Sebulba: 45.xx secs (first lap)
					  44.xx secs (second
					  43.xx secs (other laps)

				Anakin: TBA
				Ben: TBA
				Gasgano: TBA

Best Racers: If you want course times below the 2.59 mark, then
Sebulba is the only choice. Excellent acceleration out
of turns leaves the competition standing. Anakin and
Ben are joint second, both having better speed than
Sebulba, but lacking that edge in acceleration. As
for Gasgano, he's best left in the pit if you're
looking for good times, however beginners could do
well to choose him as steering is much easier.

     Bump Point: Mid-way through Arches (1st & 2nd laps)

Boost Points: Just before entering Arches (1st, 3rd and 4th laps)

Tips: To get a time BELOW 2.58.5xx, the trick is to use your
Boost on the 1st, 3rd and 4th laps. The reason is this:
your first lap is the slowest even with the Jump-Start.
Using the Boost won't just lower your time, it will, and
this is VERY IMPORTANT, GET YOU CLEAR OF THE OTHER
RACERS!!! When you start the second lap, you will be
going faster anyway and most traffic will be behind
you, so a Boost isn't necessary.

13.1 Starting Out (First Lap Only)
     ----------------------------------
Jump-Start off the grid for a quick start. Keep your pod straight
for maximum speed until you approach the first turn.

     13.2 First Turn
     ---------------
As the first corner approaches, gradually turn left by slowly pulling
back the left throttle. Perform your turn so the pod is hugging the
wall. You may need to counter-steer a few times to get round the
bend. After passing the turn, push the left throttle fully forward
     to straighten out.

Now after gaining some speed, VERY GENTLY begin to steer your pod
into a diagonal direction towards the left-right Turn. You will
need to be wary of the other racers at this point as some may be
approaching the bend in the same way. If necessary, steer the pod
carefully to the right to avoid any collisions.

     13.3 Left-Right Turn
     --------------------
You will need to take the first bend early as it's fairly sharp. On
approach, begin pulling back on the left throttle. Use the shadow of
the left bluff as a cue for starting the turn. Again take the corner
so your pod hugs the apex.

As you pass the corner, head towards the second bend in a slightly
diagonal direction. Then start pulling back on the right throttle
lever to take the next turn early and hug the wall. The moment the
pod clears the turn, push both levers forward to straighten out.
You may find yourself heading off in a diagonal direction, if so
straighten out once you've dropped down onto the plane.

     13.4 Plane
     ----------
Note: A good indicator of a fast lap is dropping down onto the plane
when the lap timer hits 22 secs (first lap) and 21 secs (other laps)
with Sebulba. For Anakin and Ben about 23 (first lap) and 21 (other
laps) and Gasgano, around 24 (first) and 22 (other laps).

After the drop, straighten out and line up with the entrance to the
canyon. You will need to be very wary of the other racers battling
for position. Enter the canyon from the middle of the entrance,
keeping away from the sides. If there's a collision, at least
you'll be inside the canyon and not splattered against the cliff
     face outside!!

     13.5 Canyon
     -----------
BE VERY CAREFUL INSIDE THE CANYON!! THE PASSAGE IS EXTREMELY NARROW
SO TIME YOUR TURNS WITH THE UTMOST PRECISION!!

Once inside the canyon, position the pod so you are next to the right
wall. Now as you approach the long turn (use the rock sticking out
on the right as an indicator), gently begin pulling back on the left
throttle so you take the turn with the pod hugging the wall. You
will need to counter-steer CAREFULLY to avoid hitting the rock face.
Now the MOMENT you pass the apex, pull back VERY SLIGHTLY on the
right throttle to head towards the exit near the right wall. Now
straighten yourself out as much as possible to leave the canyon
     heading to the left.

     13.6 Arches
     -----------
The moment you leave the canyon, hit the Boost button UNLESS it's
your second lap. Now head diagonally left and counter-steer
carefully to stay low in the turn and maintain speed. Once you pass
the apex, ease the throttle forward to leave the arches from the
right side in a straight(ish) line.

Note: It's important to stay low on your first and second laps to
get bumped by CPU pods .

As you head up the straight, watch out for the other CPU racers as
they have a tendency to steer directly in front of you, causing major
headaches!! Try keeping straight as possible to take full advantage
     of the boost.

     =======================================
14.0 ETTI IV: SMUGGLER'S COVE GUIDE (Normal)
     =======================================

Lying over shallow seas, this wealthy planet hosts a technical track
aimed a more experienced players. With tight bends and a vicious
spoon curve, the emphasis more on control and turning skills than
speed. Tattoine it certainly ain't!!!. Although less intimidating
than swervy-curvy Malastare, Smuggler's Cove still provides a worthy
challenge to even the most hardened podracer.

Ideal Lap Times (Approx) - Gasgano: Under 48 secs (all laps)
				Anakin: TBA
				Sebulba: TBA
				Ben: TBA

Best Racers: Gasgano and Ben. Gasgano gets my vote for his pod's
excellent turning ability, essential for staying low
on those turns. Ben, although with risible handling
does decelerates less on corners making him my second
choice. Ben will take more effort to use but
persevere and you may find him becoming your
preferred choice. Check out the top times at
		   www.sega.co.jp/racer for confirmation.

If Gasgano and Ben aren't yet released on your machine,
my advice would be to pick Anakin as he has slightly
better handling than Sebulba. Don't expect any
		   spectacular times though.

Boost Points: Just after the closing bend on the Horseshoe Curve,
preferably after being bumped (1st Lap)
Just before entering the Second Tunnel (3rd & 4th Lap)

Bump Points: Closing bend on the Horseshoe Curve (1st Lap)
Heading downwards on the Spoon Curve (1st & 2nd Lap)
During and after the Final Bend (1st & 2nd Lap)

Tips: It's vital to stay low during the first lap of the
course. This enables you to get past the other CPU
racers so you can boost ahead to avoid potential
collisions. Also make sure you get 'bumped' by
a CPU racer on the second lap so you stand a chance
of getting a time below 3.10 secs.

14.1 Starting Out (First Lap Only)
      -----------------------------
After Jump-Starting, keep the pod straight for about 2 seconds
before you begin turning for the First Corner.

 14.2 First Corner
      ------------
Unless it's the first lap, you should approach this corner wide.
Gradually steer your pod into the turn and hug the apex by
counter-steering carefully. Follow the turn through and then
straighten out, keeping as close to the fence as possible. This
will enable you to sneak past the CPU racers as they stay wide
      throughout.

 14.3 Horseshoe Curve
      ---------------
NOTE: Staying low on the opening bend is essential to avoid colliding
with CPU pods. This is especially crucial on the first lap as you'll
need to achieve 1st place just before you cut the apex. Not only
will it avoid possible collisions later on in the course, it
provides a perfect opportunity to get 'bumped' by the CPU just
      after the closing bend.

As you approach the opening turn, slowly pull back on the left
throttle to stay low during the start. You may need to
counter-steer once or twice to maintain your position. The moment
you pass the apex straighten out towards the mid-section and
carefully pull back the right throttle to hug the fence during
this tight bend. Once the apex of the closing turn is visible,
pull the left throttle back about a 1/3 of the way and then begin
counter-steering to 'slide' the pod into the straight.

If this is your first lap, try keeping your pod near the left-centre
of the track. Taking this action helps prevent CPU pods from
scraping past and causing problems later on. Instead your craft
will probably be hit from behind, giving you an extra speed boost.
The moment another pod makes contact, hit the Boost button to leave
the competition behind. For any other lap, stay close to the fence.

 14.4 First Tunnel
      ------------
Stay low during the start of the opening turn (counter-steering if
necessary), then cut the apex to head up the right path staying close
to the left-hand side. After leaving the tunnel, keep your pod
parallel to the left crash barrier.

Hit the boost button on the 3rd and 4th laps just before you reach
the second tunnel. Not only will your speed remain high during the
next corner but you'll be able to accelerate quickly out of the
opening bend towards the Spoon Curve.

 14.5 Second Tunnel
      -------------
After entering the tunnel, slowly pull back the left throttle to
gradually steer your pod into the turn. If done correctly, you
should only need to counter-steer a few times to stay low before
the apex. Once you clear the apex, straighten out and head towards
the right. Counter-steer the left throttle once or twice so you end
      up parallel to the fence.

 14.6 Spoon Curve
      -----------
Begin steering early to keep your turning angle low on this opening
sharp bend. Cut the apex, then counter-steer the left throttle so
you head towards the curve in a straight line.

Just before heading low into the curve, pull the right throttle back
1/3 of the way to slant the pod at a 35 degree angle. Now carefully
counter-steer the pod around the curve until you've begin heading
downwards. Begin steering left to cut the apex of the closing turn,
heading towards the right side. Once again, pull back gently on the
right throttle to make yourself parallel to the right fence.

NOTE: After you begin heading downwards on the curve, make sure you
begin steering left as quickly as possible especially during your
first and second laps. This is because CPU racers will be trying to
barge past, so blocking their path will earn you an extra boost when
they ram you. It will also avoid potential collisions on the final
      bend.

 14.7 Final Bend
      ----------
Start turning early to gradually steer your pod into the turn. Stay
as close to wall as possible to stop the CPU racers from scrapping
past. Counter-steer a few times until you pass the apex and then
straighten out heading past the Checkpoint towards the right wall.
If this is your first or second lap, carefully pull back the left
throttle to remain close to the left fence. This'll enable yourself
to get 'bumped' by a CPU racer before you head towards the right
      fence.

15.0 MALASTARE: PIXELITO CHALLENGE GUIDE (Hard)
     ==========================================

Set on Sebulba's home planet, this rollercoaster ride isn't for the
faint-hearted!! Making EttiIV look like a stroll in the park,
Pixelito Challenge is the ultimate technical circuit. Speed freaks
and rookies need not apply, only skill and experience can conquer
     this baby!!

Ideal Lap Times (Approx) - Gasgano: 39.xx secs (first lap)
					 40.xx secs (second lap)
38.xx secs (third & forth laps)

				Anakin: TBA
				Sebulba: TBA
				Ben: TBA

Boost Points: Just before heading onto the straight (1st ,3rd & 4th
		    laps)

Bump Points: Between the second turn and the straight (1st lap)
Near the beginning of the straight (2nd lap)

Best Racers: In a nutshell, Gasgano. Excellent turning capabilities
allow him to hug those tight bends like no-one
		    else. Check out www.sega.co.jp/racer for
confirmation!! You can use Ben if you steer well
enough to take advantage of his speed through corners.

If Ben and Gasgano aren't released yet, then choose
Anakin for his slightly better handling. Don't expect
to get too many record times though!! For the ultimate
		    masochistic challenge there's Sebulba......

Tips: As with EttiIV the trick is get past the CPU racers
at the start of the race to avoid potential
collisions later on. It's also imperative that you get
bumped at least once during the race and stay as low
		    as possible when cornering.

15.1 Starting Out (First Lap Only)
      -----------------------------
After Jump-Starting, keep the pod straight for about a second before
you begin turning for the First Corner.

 15.2 First Corner
      ------------
Unless it's your first lap, approach this corner wide. Gradually
steer into the turn to cut the apex and keep straight as possible.

 15.3 Second Turn
      -----------
NOTE: This is quite a winding turn so steer carefully to avoid
      scraping the wall.

Almost immediately after clearing the first turn, slowly ease back on
the left throttle to swing the pod into the next turn. Hug the wall
as close as possible by slowly pulling the left throttle fully back.
Counter-steer by pushing the throttle slightly forward if you think
you might scrape the side. The moment you clear the turn, straighten
out and head towards the right wall.

If this is your 1st, 3rd or 4th lap, hit the Boost button the moment
you leave the turn. This is especially important on the 1st lap as
you'll need to clear the traffic to avoid collisions later on.

On your first lap, you may want to try and get bumped by a CPU racer
      before boosting.

 15.4 Straight
      --------
Once you're close to the right side , pull back gently on the left
throttle to steer you pod parallel to the wall. Stay close to the
wall throughout the straight, especially on the first lap as you'll
need to clear all the traffic before the next turn.

If this is your second lap, stay near the left-centre of the course
to block CPU racers and get an extra boost before gradually heading
      to the right.

 15.5 Third Turn
      ----------
Easiest turn on the course, remember to steer early to keep your
turning angle low. Once passed the apex, straighten out to the
      centre of the track.

 15.6 S-Bend
      ------
Take the opening bend by steering to the left early. Once inside
the turn, quickly pull back on the other throttle to veer right.
Straighten the pod out as much as possible and proceed towards the
mid-section. Keep steering at a minimum to avoid speed loss. Head
slightly to the right so you just miss the mid-section apex, then
carefully steer left to enter the tunnel near the side.

 15.7 Tunnel
      ------
About 1/2 second after entering the tunnel, ease back on the right
throttle to steer into the turn. Counter-steer carefully to follow
the corner all the way around to the small straight. Stay low
throughout, then begin steering right just before reaching the next
      turn.

WARNING: THIS TURN IS ONE OF THE MOST DEMANDING IN THE GAME. YOU'RE
BLIND UNTIL THE VERY END SO EXCELLENT COUNTER-STEERING SKILLS ARE
ESSENTIAL TO AVOIDING SCRAPING THE WALL!!

After joining ONTO the turn, you will need to counter-steer quite
rapidly to stay low throughout. The MOMENT the turn ends, steer
your pod away from the side.

 15.8 Hairpin Corner
      --------------
WARNING: IN MY OPINION, THIS IS THE MOST BRUTAL AND DIFFICULT TURN IN
THE WHOLE GAME!! YOU WILL NEED TO PULL BACK FULLY ON THE THROTTLE
STICK TO GET THE POD AROUND THE CORNER. TIMING IS ESSENTIAL AS
      SPEED LOSS IS DRAMATIC!!!

JUST before reaching the next turn, pull the left throttle fully back
to stay low on this turn. Once you see the next tunnel, straighten
out immediately to head diagonally towards the metal ramp. If you
pull back too late, you may collide with the right wall so quickly
      squeeze the air-brake if needed.

 15.9 Ramp
      ----
Head up the ramp, staying close to the wall. This will avoid
scraping your pod on the left edge. Once you're near the left turn,
steer your pod off the edge to cut the apex of the next turn.

 15.10 Left-Right Turn
       ---------------
This is a fast left-right turn so steer quickly to avoid excessive
speed loss. Cut the apex of the first turn, then pull back the right
throttle to quickly cut the apex of the second turn. Head right,
then pull the left throttle gently to get parallel with the wall
       after passing the line.

16.0 TATOOINE: BOONTA CLASSIC GUIDE (Expert)
     =======================================
Held near Mos Espa on Boonta Eve and sponsored by Jabba the Hut,
this course represents the pinnacle of podracing. Er...well to be
completely honest, it's not really that difficult. Essentially an
extended version of Bantha Tracks, Boonta Classic is a lot easier to
complete than EttiIV & Malastare. However it's the most enjoyable
course in the game with its dark caverns and narrow canyons. Plus
you get to re-enact that infamous scene from the movie!!

Ideal Lap Times (Approx) - Sebulba: 1.32.xx (all laps)
				 Anakin: TBA
				 Gasgano: TBA
				 Ben: TBA

Bump Points: Just after the 3rd Turn (First lap & Second Lap)
		     Tunnel (First Lap)
		     Sharp Canyon Turn (First Lap)

Boost Points: Just after reaching the light-dark brown surface

Best Podracers: As with Bantha Tracks, Sebulba is the experts choice
and the only way to get times below 4.38 secs. Anakin
and Ben are joint second while Gasgano languishes
		     in the distance.

Tips: Boost after the first turn so you reach the canyon
before the CPU racers to avoid collisions. You will
then need to get bumped as many times as possible
during the first lap to get a time below 1.32.5.
Expect a more detailed paragraph once I've played it
		     to death this weekend!!

 16.1 Starting Out (First Lap)
      -------------------------
Use the JUMP START to get off the mark quickly. Begin steering left
after 1.5 seconds of acceleration to take the first turn

 16.2 First Turn
      ----------
Perform your turn so the pod is hugging the wall. You will need to
counter-steer a few times to get round the bend. After passing the
turn, push the left throttle fully forward to straighten out.

The MOMENT your pod hits the light-dark brown surface, press the
Boost button. Now keep the pod straight to approach the Long Second
      Turn in a diagonal direction.

Sebulba Note: If this is your second lap, you may want to wait until
another CPU racer hits you from behind before boosting.

 16.3 Long Second Turn
      ----------------
As you approach, pull back on the right throttle so the pod is
positioned at an angle to the wall. Once the pod is correctly
positioned, counter-steer through the turn. The MOMENT you clear
      the apex, straighten the pod.

 16.4 Third Turn
      ----------
Start turning very early by gradually pulling back on the left
throttle. Once you clear the apex, counter-steer to follow the
turn so you come out parallel to the left wall.

If this is your first lap, it's especially important to stay close
to the left wall as this is the perfect place to get 'bumped' by
      CPU pods.

 16.5 Plane
      ------
Sebulba Note: You may know you need to get bumped by Aldar Beedo
so you can reach the canyon before Anakin, but did you know you can
get bumped twice? By performing the boost on the first lap slightly
later, you will get bumped slightly as you leave the third turn.
Then as you drop onto the plane, Aldar will follow you down, rearing
your pod with great impact. This can knock your speed up to 730
      kmh!!!!

After dropping down, steer your pod towards the centre of the Canyon
entrance. If another racer is directly in front near the entrance,
squeeze the air brake VERY SLIGHTLY to prevent a heavy collision
      and even more speed loss.

 16.6 Canyon
      ------
Once inside the canyon, you will need to hug the left wall as close
as possible for minimum speed loss during the long turn. Do this by
performing careful counter-steers with the left throttle. Be
extremely careful as other racers could be taking the turn in the
same way. If necessary, squeeze the air brake slightly to avoid
      collisions.

Now the MOMENT the canyon winds sharply to the right, pull back on
the right throttle to just skim the right wall. Then quickly
straighten for a moment before easing back the left throttle so
you can leave the canyon from the left side.

Throughout the canyon, use your pod to block CPU racers from
passing. However prepare to turn quickly if you get 'bumped' to
      avoid hitting the wall.

 16.7 Arches
      ------
After leaving the Canyon, slowly head left. Be wary of other racers
and steer away from them if necessary so you don't collide. Once
you've dropped down, position your pod towards the left hand side
so you go under the arches nearest the wall. Keep to the left of
each arch (careful not to scrape the sides) and your pod straight
      as possible.

After leaving the second arch, steer slightly right and head towards
the next arch. Carefully pull back the left throttle to hug the
side of the arch, then head far left towards the next arch. Be
warned, speed loss is severe so make the turn as gradual as possible.

Staying close to the left side, there are now two choices. For
beginners I suggest you head underneath the next arch staying to
the left. Experts however can slide their pod through the small gap
between the arch and the wall. Do this by pulling back the right
throttle so the pod is facing the wall at an angle, then VERY
CAREFULLY counter-steer it through the gap.

 16.8 Tunnel
      ------
Once inside the tunnel, you will need to turn VERY CAREFULLY by
easing the right throttle back and counter-steering around the apex
for minimum speed loss. Try to keep your pod over the white surface
in the tunnel and use it as a guide for turning. Again be very
careful as other racers will attempt to force their way past,
knocking your pod towards the side. Once you've passed the apex,
straighten out and exit the tunnel from the far left into the
      dark cavern.

Sebulba Note: On your first lap, stay VERY low around the apex so you
can get bumped by Anakin. Block him from passing as much as you can
so your pod will be bumped into the cavern quickly.

 16.9 Dark Cavern
      -----------
Move in a straight line along the left side of the cavern. Use the
rock pillar in the middle as a guide, you should just pass the left
of it. Don't go any further off as you'll have a hard time swinging
the pod back towards the exit for the Raised Turn.

 16.10 Raised Turn
       -----------
Before exiting the cavern, begin pulling back the left throttle to
take this turn early. Counter-steer your from wide to low, leaving
a small distance between yourself and the left cliff. You should be
heading directly towards the sharp canyon turn once you clear the
       apex.

 16.11 Sharp Canyon Turn
       -----------------
WARNING: THE CANYON IS VERY NARROW SO GOOD CONTROL AND TURNING IS
       ESSENTIAL TO AVOID SCRAPES.

Enter the canyon and begin steering carefully towards the right
wall. Now staying in a straight line, THE MOMENT you clear the
apex turn sharply to the left. The right side of your pod will
collide with the wall, but you will leave the turn quicker as
       opposed to steering early.

Sebulba Note (First Lap): If Anakin is behind you at this stage, he
will bump you into the canyon. Once it happens QUICKLY pull the
left throttle to hit the side of your pod against the right
wall and take the turn. Straight afterwards, quickly steer left.
Anakin will bump you again as you leave.

(Thanks to Humest for his contribution)

 16.12 Rocky Planes
       ------------
The easiest, but the most important part of the race. Basically
stay as straight as possible for maximum speed. Only steer the pod
slightly to avoid collisions with the rocks or other racers (like
ANAKIN and GASGANO!!!!!). Gradually steer your pod left after
       passing the checkpoint.
