-- Revision History (last 4) --

v2.3 7/22/00: Character list changed to the order in which it appears in the
game (ie, in the Menu). Some names changed to the ones in the North American
release. My Dexdrive ate my memory card.

v2.2 6/10/00: I lied. Now it's done. Huge, monolithic, gargantuan props to Boko
Kun (boko_kun@neteze.com). Added more stats and story information for each
character, where applicable, all courtesy of Boko Kun's itchy fingers.

v2.1 4/7/00: Done as it's going to be. Really. Cross my heart. Added little
revisions everywhere, how to get Lazzuli's & Tsumalu's Level 7 Skills, a caveat
about Lena's Level 7, a Did You Notice?, the location of Skull's bones, and
made the strategy for recruiting Kinoko less obtuse. Only 4 months until the
North American release! Rejoice!

v2.0 1/24/00: Wow, it's been awhile! Thanks to everyone who sent in
information, especially Lord Odin (galvinchan@pacific.net.sg), who has been
instrumental in this FAQ's completion. PLEASE ALSO NOTE MY CHANGE OF EMAIL
ADDRESS; if you have something you're dying to tell me, send it to
circe@san.rr.com if you want it to get there.

-- Characters --

Characters are listed in the order they appear on the list accessable via the
menu (Triangle button). This FAQ is ideally for people who've already played
the game once, and want to pick up any characters they've missed in New Game+.
Spoilers have been minimized, but read at your own risk nonetheless.

Name: Serge
Quote: "A young lad on a quest to solve a mystery about himself."
Occupation: Silent Protagonist
Elemental affiliation: White
When found: When you pop Disc 1 into the PSX.
Weapon: Swallow
Stats: 17 years old, 170 cm tall, 58 kg, Average physique
Hometown: Aruni
Skills: Level 3: Dash Attack (Serge dashes through an enemy.)
Level 5: Shining (Serge levitates, causing a glowing orb to descend on
the enemy party. Obscure trivia: in the Japanese Chrono Trigger, Crono's
Luminaire was called "Shining".)
Level 7: Sky Arrow (Serge floats in the sky, and his aura shoots an
arrow of light at an enemy. This skill is inherent, and the size/shape of the
aura seems to depend on the weapon. Try it with the Grand Dream, then try it
with the Mithril Swallow.)

Evaluation: Good magic, good skills, good HP, tons of Element slots, and very
strong physical attacks once you begin upgrading his weapon. Probably your best
fighter until New Game+, whence everyone is godly.

--

Name: Kidd
Quote: "A traveller with only revenge on her mind."
Occupation: T&A
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: On Another's cliff near Aruni at sunset, or in Termina if you've
refused her three times at the cliff, or after she recovers from her illness if
you refused her in Termina.
Weapon: Dagger
Stats: 16 years old, 165 cm tall, 45 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: N/A
Skills: Level 3: Steal (Kidd steals an item. Handy!)
Level 5: Red Needle (Red Needle is needle tat is red.)
Level 7: Heat Shot (An invention of Lucca's falls from the sky, and
Kidd fires it at one enemy. Must be obtained via the side quest in the burning
house. In the first room, press the Action button next to the device to the
right of the door, and enter L2, Triangle, L2, Triangle for the password.)

Evaluation: Please, let's not argue about how many D's she has in her name. I
didn't use her much while she was in my party, and to be honest I didn't miss
her, either. There are other people with the Steal skill and better stats. If
you want her to do more than 1 point of damage to an enemy, keep her weapon
upgraded! (Like I didn't...)

--

Name: Guile
Quote: "A masked wanderer with many mysteries."
Occupation: Magician, and subject of much speculation. Is he or isn't he?
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: In Termina's bar in Another, prior to exploring the Snakebone Manor
for the first time.
Weapon: Staff
Stats: 26 years old, 188 cm tall, 70 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: In body (Guile makes his staff disappear, then materialize in
one enemy's body.)
Level 5: To Sword (Guile's staff becomes many staves, which in turn
become many swords, and accost the enemy. Ph34r!)
Level 7: Sway Burn? Sovereign? (Guile whirls around, and throws his
staff into the air, which causes purple lightning to strike the enemy. This
skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: He's a little more powerful than Riddle when it comes to physical
attacks, and his Strong attack hits the entire enemy party. Towards the end of
the game when you're able to forge Prism weapons, his physical offense grows
tremendously. Excellent with magic, lots of HP, and very powerful skills. The
only thing Guile lacks in is spaces in his Element grid for the first few
levels.

--

Name: Ishito
Quote: "Captain of the Black Wind."
Occupation: Special Agent in the Palepori militia
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: While exploring Home's Snakebone Manor, in the dungeon, he'll join
automatically.
Weapon: Gun
Stats: 26 years old, 177 cm tall, 62 kg, Average physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Spiral Ray (Ishito fires a blast of yellow light at an enemy.)
Level 5: Aura Rain (Ishito fires his gun into the air, and yellow
energy rains down on the enemy party. Looks like something out of Actraiser...)
Level 7: Full Shot (Ishito takes aim and blasts an enemy into next
Tuesday. Talk to Another's Ishito with Home's Ishito.)

Evaluation: He can do more damage than his piddly strength rating would
suggest, and Aura Rain can easily wipe out a Green enemy party. Okay with
magic, more Element slots than you'd expect for a fighter, and average HP.

--

Name: Nikki
Quote: "A very popular visual idol."
Occupation: ROCK STAR!
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: Before sneaking into the Snakebone Manor, speak with everyone on
Nikki's ship several times. Then help Nikki in the forest east of the Snakebone
Manor.
Weapon: Guitar & Pick
Stats: 19 years old, 182 cm tall, 52 kg, Skinny physique
Hometown: Zelbess
Skills: Level 3: Rythmn Break (Nikki smashes his guitar over one enemy's head.)
Level 5: Freeze Beat (Nikki freezes an enemy.)
Level 7: Shock Noise (Spotlights illuminate Nikki, and he shoots evil
black energy at the enemy party for big damage. Eat your heart out, Marilyn
Manson! Take Another's Nikki to meet Home's Nikki to find this skill. They'll
have a chat and jam together.)

Evaluation: When he's not hawking Urban Decay cosmetics or playing rock music,
Nikki moonlights as one of your party members. He's quite good with magic.
Farga's son, and Marcy's brother.

--

Name: Lord Viper
Quote: "Ruler of Elnid and leader of the Acacian Knights."
Occupation: Ruler
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: Automatically joins on Another's Zelbess after rescuing Riddle from
those Palepori bastidges.
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 57 years young, 201 cm tall, 98 kg, Well-built physique
Hometown: Elnid
Skills: Level 3: Gravity Slash (Viper slices his sword up and down one enemy's
body.)
Level 5: Wind Cutter (Viper swings his sword, and shoots a six pointed
star-shaped energy field at all enemies.)
Level 7: Flag of Snakebone (Viper folds his arms and stands
majestically, while the flag of Snakebone Manor is hoisted behind him,
restoring a squidload of HP. To recieve this skill, after getting the Chrono
Cross, put Viper in the lead of your party and speak with the bar owner in
Termina. Go into the secret back room of the bar and examine the tapestry on
the far wall.)

Evaluation: Relatively the same stats as Farga, only less adept with magic, and
stronger with physical attacks.

Evaluation from Lord Odin (galvinchan@pacific.net.sg): Viper is just as good in
HP and strength. One of the best weapons was the Sword of Snakebone which was
acquired quite early in the game. The sword looks like an anchor and is quite
strong.

--

Name: Riddle
Quote: "The ruler's beautiful and gentle daughter."
Occupation: Pretty pretty princess!
Elemental affiliation: White
When found: After rescuing her from the Palepoli troops running amuck in
Another's Snakebone Manor, she'll join automatically on Radius' island.
Weapon: Staff
Stats: 24 years old, 171 cm tall, 47 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: Elnid
Skills: Level 3: Heal All (Riddle heals your party for many HP's, and cures any
status ailments.)
Level 5: Protection (Riddle protects one party member with the power of
the White Snake, for a 20% defense and 25% magic defense increase.)
Level 7: White Snake Seal (See Lena's Level 5 - like that, only with a
50% Element revival rate. You must defeat Dario with Riddle in your party to
acquire this.)

Evaluation: Like the proverbial Laura Palmer, "she's full of secrets", and her
past involves Glenn & Karsh. Riddle has very low offensive and defensive
strength, and low HP, but she has lots of slots on her Element grid, and is
probably your most powerful magic-user. Her Strong attack hits all enemies.
Give her good accessories and protective gear, and she'll be a great asset to
your party. Viper's daughter.

--

Name: Karsh
Quote: "A Divine Knight who is frank, yet short-tempered."
Occupation: Pretty boy Acacian Knight
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: Joins automatically in Termina before you explore Another's
Snakebone Manor for the second time, or on the Zelbess afterwards. You have a
choice between he and Zoah.
Weapon: Axe
Stats: 27 years old, 181 cm tall, 72 kg, Well-Built physique
Hometown: Elnid
Skills: Level 3: Dragon Ride (Karsh rides a dragon and swings his axe at the
enemy.)
Level 5: Aura Axe (Karsh throws his axe all over the battlefield, like
a boomerang.)
Level 7: Gyrator (Karsh hits an enemy many times with his axe; can only
be found after completing his side-quest with Sugar & Salton on Dead Man's
Island.)

Evaluation: Karsh has excellent HP and offensive strength, and is almost always
in my party when I fight bosses. Zappa's son.

--

Name: Zoah
Quote: "A Divine Knight who is silent and cool-headed."
Occupation: The strong, silent type
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: Joins automatically in Termina before you explore Another's
Snakebone Manor for the second time, or on the Zelbess afterwards. (You have a
choice between he and Karsh.)
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 28 years old, 191 cm tall, 92 kg, HUGE physique
Hometown: Elnid
Skills: Level 3: Dragon Ride (Zoah mounts a dragon, and jumps off, effectively
body-slamming one enemy.)
Level 5: Sweep Attack (Zoah's arms become charged with electricity, and
he whirls in the air, coming down hard on one enemy.)
Level 7: Upper Bomb (Can only be found if you bring Zoah to Another's
Mansion and open the chest in his room. It's the furthest to the right on the
ground floor.)

Evaluation: He has great offense and defense, and extremely high HP. His magic
power is somewhat weak, but not as bad as Poshul's.

--

Name: Marcy
Quote: "The sparkling one among the Divine Knights."
Occupation: Brat extrordinaire
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: On the solitary island in Another, then she'll join automatically
on the Zelbess.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 9 years old, 145 cm tall, 38 kg, Petite physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: Line Pierce (Marcy twirls a ball of string in the air, and
throws her line at the enemy, entangling them.)
Level 5: Line Spark (Marcy twirls a ball of string in the air, hefts
individual lines at the enemy, and shoots ice along them.)
Level 7: Wipe Off (Marcy casts what looks like a Blue version of Final
Fantasy VIII's Quake. This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Marcy owns me. She can do almost as much physical damage as Leah or
Karsh - even moreso if she's fighting a Red monster - and she's very good with
magic as well.

--

Name: Korcha
Quote: "The greatest fisherman in the South Sea!"
Occupation: Wannabe host of Babe Winkelman's Sport Fishing
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: Before Kidd recovers her health, you have a choice of he or Macha.
Choose the top option once, then the bottom option when he asks you about Kidd.
He'll join after he takes you to Termina.
Weapon: Fishing implements
Stats: 16 years old, 168 cm tall, 56 kg, Skinny physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Headbutt (Korcha does the breathstroke in the air, and
headbutts an enemy.)
Level 5: Fishing (Korcha casts his fishing rod at one enemy.)
Level 7: Big Catch (Korcha casts his line, and reels in a big catch,
hitting one enemy. Aforesaid big batch is a morph chosen randomly from
Spriggan's list, and will sometimes be a boot that does no damage. This Level 7
skill can be found by taking Korcha back to the small red display in Termina,
where you first met him, and examining it. Then talk to the nearby person in
purple, before heading down the road towards Gilbert's home, and talking to the
mermaid where you first talked to Korcha by the beach.)

Evaluation: Not bad. I like his sister, Mel, better.

--

Name: Luccia
Quote: "The Snakebone Manor's resident genius scientist."
Occupation: Scientist
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: Go back to the Snakebone Manor's balcony after Kidd is wounded, and
speak with Luccia there and then at her lab.
Weapon: Pin, Syringe
Stats: 28 years old, 174 cm tall, 44 kg, Skinny physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: Pin Strike (Luccia jumps into the air and throws lots of pins
and needles at the enemy.)
Level 5: Chemical Haze (Luccia throws two Erlenmeyer flasks at the
enemy for a status change.)
Level 7: Test Amoeba (Luccia throws her Test Amoeba at one enemy, which
inhibits oxidative phosphorylation on a cellular level, and inflicts wicked
damage. To find this skill, put her first in your party, and talk to the slimy
amoeba thing in the dungeon of the Snakebone Manor in Another dimension. You
need to go down through the grating in the kitchen.)

Evaluation: For a Mad Scientist, you'd think she'd have better attacks; maybe
that's why she engineers Pip and the other critters in her lab, though. Average
HP, lots of Element slots, and a bit lower than Miki for attack power.

--

Name: Poshul
Quote: "A mysterious animal who is like a dog but not a dog."
Species: Dog
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: Either give her the Heckran Bone and recruit her in Home before you
speak with Lena on the beach, or take the nescessary steps to recruit Another's
Lena and she'll join automagically.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: Age N/A, 112 cm tall, 12 kg, Roly Poly physique
Hometown: Aruni
Skills: Level 3: Pyoshul (Poshul curls into a ball and bounces on the enemy.)
Level 5: Bushushul (Poshul spins around, creating a wind vortex, then
dispatches it at the enemy party.)
Level 7: Bigger Shul (The Chrono Cross equivalent of Fat Chocobo!
Poshul unlocks her collar, grows bigger, and belly flops on one enemy. Can only
be found by speaking with Home's Leena at the dock, after you've gotten all of
your characters back.)

Evaluation: Poshul has very high HP and offense - more than you'd expect from a
pink two-tailed ball of fluff - but her skill with magic is so poor it's
laughable. She'll wax ecstatic about the Heckran Bone ("puh, puh, present? For
me? Wow Serge, you rule!") and her Pretty Miracle Power X if you recruit her in
the Home dimension.

--

Name: Lazzuli
Quote: "Little Miss Sprite from the forest."
Species: Sprite (Don't call her 7up!)
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: While on the quest for Kidd's medicine, in Hydra swamp, if you
choose to let her out of the cage by the Land Kraken. I don't believe you can
get her if you chose Mamacha's branch, and went to the Zelbess in lieu of Hydra
swamp.
Weapon: Staff
Stats: Age N/A, 109 cm tall, 5 kg, Dainty physique
Hometown: Water Dragon Island
Skills: Level 3: Lazzuli's Star (Lazzuli makes a large, comicly proportioned
star fall on an enemy.)
Level 5: Lazzuli's Heart (Lazzuli waves her wand, and restores a small
amount of HP to herself and boosts her defense?)
Level 7: Lazzuli's Flower (I have no freaking idea how to get this
skill. So many people have told me different things, I couldn't possibly list
them here. So try including her - or not including her - in the battle with the
Hydra. Same goes for the event on Water Dragon Island. If neither of those
variations work, I'm sorry, gomen nasai. One thing I'm sure of is that when the
Star Tower appears, with Lazzuli in your party, speak with Rosetta - she's the
pink-haired sprite on Home's Water Dragon Island in front of the tree.)

Evaluation: She's between Riddle and Alf in terms of physical offense and HP,
on par with the both of them for magic power, and her Star skill does awesome
damage early in the game. Rosetta's sister.

--

Name: Zappa
Quote: "A stubborn yet devoted craftsman."
Occupation: Blacksmith
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: After returning Home and going to Termina, speak with him in the
Smithy twice and choose the top option.
Weapon: Axe or Hammer
Stats: 52 years old, 173 cm tall, 82 kg, Well-Built physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: Power Crush
        Level 5: Smith Spin
Level 7: Kajiya no kuso chikara (Zappa hits a red hot ball of iron at
the enemy, Tiger Woods style. This skill in inherent.)

Evaluation: Karsh's father. Zappa is as strong as he looks, and he becomes
essential for forging Prism weapons towards the end of the game; after
defeating the 6 dragons, go back to Marbule in Home, specifically the cave
where the black dragon was in Another dimension, and buy the weapon the man on
the far left will sell you. Equip this to Zappa, and with him leading your
party, speak with Another's Zappa.

--

Name: Orcha
Quote: "A fiery cook with two faces."
Occupation: Cook
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: While the Palepoli troops are ravaging Another's Snakebone Manor,
defeat his blue counterpart and ask him to join.
Weapon: Frying pan
Stats: 44 years old, 171 cm tall, 92 kg, Gaining a little weight
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Spice (Orcha throws a jar of spice in the air, healing the
party for a couple hundred HP.)
Level 5: Mystery Cook (Orcha cooks and eats one enemy.)
Level 7: Another Side (Orcha has returned from the Dark World and is
now BLUE Orcha! With Orcha leading your party, speak with his brother, Home
Aruni's chef.)

Evaluation: He's got average HP, average magic power, and slightly better than
average attack power. I don't use him much, but at least he doesn't look like
that freakazoid Quina. Mamacha's older brother.

--

Name: Radius
Quote: "Former Acacian Knight."
Occupation: Aruni Village's Chief
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: Joins automatically after you defeat him in Home's Aruni.
Weapon: Staff
Stats: 62 years old, 172 cm tall, 54 kg, Skinny physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: En'shin'ate (Radius blasts an enemy with green energy from his
staff, similar to Glenn's Level 5.)
Level 5: I'ai'nuki (Radius dashes at and through an enemy.)
Level 7: Shin'kuu'ha (Radius leaps into the air, and green fire engulfs
one enemy.)

Evaluation: Maybe if I wasn't afraid he'd break in two from osteoporosis if I
put him in battle, I might actually use him. I dunno.

--

Name: Farga
Quote: "A man of the sea who keeps memories of his late wife close to his
heart."
Occupation: El Capitan!
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: On Another's Zelbess
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 40 years old, 184 cm tall, 74 kg, Macho physique
Hometown: N/A
Skills: Level 3: Steal (Farga plunders an item. Arrr matey!)
Level 5: Distant Attack (Farga whistles, and cannonballs from the
Zelbess crash down on the enemy party.)
Level 7: Invincible Slash (Farga runs toward an enemy, brandishing his
sword as he goes, while Kanji's flash on the screen; looks like the katana
sword techniques from SaGa Frontier. He'll get this automatically before going
to Marbule to fight the Efts.)

Evaluation from Lord Odin (galvinchan@pacific.net.sg): Farga is one in my party
with the greatest strengh and the highest HP. Besides he has Steal, which is
good, and he can equip G Grog Summon as well as Level 5 Heal All before I can
get Kidd back. Because of Steal, he is always engaging the boss, making him
very important.

--

Name: Macha
Quote: "Bold and daring Mom."
Occupation: Hausfrau
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: In Gardov, when you're asked to undertake the quest for medicine.
You have a choice between she and her son, Korcha. Choose the top option twice
when Korcha asks you about Kidd if you want Macha.
Weapon: Frying pan
Stats: 38 years old, 167 cm tall, 68 kg, Stout physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Hip Attack (Macha hits and wiggles her derriere, then launches
herself at the enemy for mediocre damage.)
Level 5: Folding (Macha turns the enemy into dirty laundry, folds it,
and jumps on top.)
Level 7: Mother's Rage (This brings new meaning to the urban
colloquialism, "drop some plates on your ass". Macha summons flatware to drop
down on the enemy party. This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Less HP than Lucky Dan, with slightly better offensive power, and
equally silly skills.

--

Name: Glenn
Quote: "Knight Dario's kid brother."
Occupation: Knight who says, "Nee!"
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: After recruiting Macha and her boat in Another's Termina, by the
docks.
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 20 years old, 174 cm tall, 64 kg, Medium physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Hard Hit (Glenn hits an enemy. Hard.)
Level 5: Swordsonic (Glenn launches a blast of green light from his
sword at one enemy.)
Level 7: Sword Stab (Looks like Spire from Chrono Trigger. This skill
is inherent, but he'll do a lot more damage if he's equipped with two Elranza
swords. How? Go back to Dario's grave in the Termina of Another dimension, with
Glenn leading the party, equipped with the Elranza sword.)

Evaluation: First and foremost, GLENN IS NOT FROG FROM CHRONO TRIGGER. Once
again, GLENN IS NOT FROG FROM CHRONO TRIGGER. Glenn's father, Gary, named him
after Frog, who was apparently a legendary hero. All clear on that? Good. He
starts out kind of weak compared to Serge, and his hit ratio seems to be lower
than the in-battle chart dictates, but he quickly catches up to be on par with
Draggy, Karsh, and Zoah in terms of physical damage when you give him the
Elranza sword. When he gets two of them, he can easily level an enemy party.

Evaluation from Lord Odin (galvinchan@pacific.net.sg): Glenn is one of my
favorites. His attack is one of the highest because of ELRANZA. He or Serge can
initiate a combo attack if their attack meter are both at level 3. It is called
X attack, I think. Since it's a Red elemental attack, it can deal up to 2000
damages to a Blue oppenent. It is the best combo attack, as most combo attack
needed at least the meter to reach Level 5 or more.

--

Name: Leena
Quote: "A maiden with dreams."
Occupation: The girl next door
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: In Another, if you refuse Kidd three times at Serge's grave, she'll
join with Poshul when you return to Aruni.
Weapon: Household items (spoon, frying pan, broom...)
Stats: 16 years old, 166 cm tall, 42 kg, Average physique
Hometown: Aruni
Skills: Level 3: Maiden's Beat (Leena's hand glows and she smacks the enemy
four times.)
Level 5: Maiden's Spirit (Leena levitates and feathers make swirling
blue light around her. All of Leena's elements - except for stocked items -
have a 1/3 chance of being replenished.)
Level 7: Maiden's Prayer (Leena kneels in prayer, and her attack power
and hit accuracy are increased. You can get this by putting Leena at the head
of your party, and speaking with her aunt in Home after you regain your body.
You may not be able to get Leena's Level 7 if you gave the wrong responses to
her early in the game. The correct responses are: (at the beach) "oboeteru",
then "zutto, oboeteru yo", and (on the dock) "Serge wa, boku da!". You need at
least 2 out of 3.)

Evaluation: Leena's stronger than her dainty appearance belies, and excellent
with magic. Her HP is on the low side of average, but not as low as most magic
users. Lots of Element slots.

--

Name: Dynamite Dancer Miki!
Quote: "A passionate dancer."
Occupation: Dancer
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: After liberating Marbule of the Efts (large blue monsters with an
antennae), go back to the Zelbess' restaurant and speak with Miki.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 19 years old, 171 cm tall, 43 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: Zelbess
Skills: Level 3: Stomping (Miki dances a jig on one enemy's head.)
Level 5: Sexy Eyes (Miki bats her eyes seductively, damaging all
enemies.)
Level 7: Aerial (Miki floats through the air like she did in Nikki's
rock opera, leaving sparkles as she goes. This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Exactly like Leena, but Red. And about ten times cuter.

--

Name: Harle
Quote: "A mysterious and elusive lass."
Occupation: Court Jester
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: Joins automatically in Never Never Land after Spriggan does.
Weapon: Pin
Stats: 18 years old
Hometown: N/A
Skills: Level 3: Lunar Blade (Harle leaps in front of the moon and launches
crescents at the enemy party.)
Level 5: Lunar Wrap (Harle leaps in front of the moon and casts a
protective barrier on your party.)
Level 7: Bad Moon (Harle eclipses the moon, heavily damaging the enemy
party. This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Her offensive and magic power are good, and her Level 3 attack is
very powerful for only being a Level 3. She's a flirt. I
much preferred her Japanese name...

--

Name: Janice
Quote: "A rabbit Ajin who is passionate about raising monsters."
Occupation: Monster Trainer - think Pokemon
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: Anytime after getting access to the Grand Slam Tournament on Home's
Zelbess, then beat her 3 times in the Grand Slam Tournament.
Weapon: Carrot
Stats: 22 years old, 169 cm tall, 47 kg, Hippy Hoppy physique
Hometown: Zelbess
Skills: Level 3: Drum Press (Janice flattens the enemy by hitting them over the
head with her drum)
Level 5: Ninjin Arrow (Janice throws lots of carrots at one enemy.)
Level 7: Gush Out (Janice beats her drum, and water gushes out from the
ground to damage the enemy party. Can be found if you put her in the lead of
your party, and talk to the land octopus at the End of Time.)

Evaluation from Lord Odin (galvinchan@pacific.net.sg): Getting Janice is easy.
You are able to select better creatures for the duels if you increase
Spriggan's shape shifting list. Some good creatures, for example, are the
robots who guard the treasure chests in Chronopolis have high HP (999) and
attack, and some monsters found in the primitive forest are quite good too.

Name: Draggy
Quote: "A newborn dragon child."
Species: Dragon
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: You can get Draggy anytime after acquiring the boat in the Home
world. Kill the Niwatrice in the valley seperating Aruni and Termina in Another
world, and steal one of the eggs (key item) it was guarding. Then, go to Home's
Dragon Tower, flick the four elemental switches so that the pillar rises in the
central room, and choose the second option on the lift to go down. Place the
egg on the middle platform to hatch it.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 0 years old (you hatched him, remember?), 65 cm tall, 120 kg, Small
physique
Hometown: Deep Valley
Skills: Level 3: Tiny Breath (Draggy belches a little fireball at one enemy.)
Level 5: Breath Wing (Draggy belches aforesaid fireball, then fans it
with his wings towards the enemy party.)
Level 7: Big Mom (Draggy summons the spirit of his mother to engulf the
battlefield in flames. Can only be found by taking Draggy to the valley in
Another dimension, and speaking with the dragon's skull on the northern
screen.)

Evaluation: He's a pwecious widdle Draggy-waggy, yes he is! Great physical
attacks, on par with your heavy hitters Karsh & Zoah, high HP, and a fair
amount of Element slots.

Name: Starky
Quote: "A stranded alien who's longing to return to his home planet."
Species: Alien
Elemental affiliation: White
When found: Get the starfish (key item) from the triangle of rocks in Home,
then defeat a gargantuan Starky atop the crescent-shaped island's ruins.
Weapon: Gun
Stats: Age N/A, 89 cm tall, 5 kg, Alien-like physique (not a Xenomorph!)
Hometown: Another planet
Skills: Level 3: Star Pride (Starky summons a Voltron-looking robot to attack
one enemy.)
Level 5: Comet Beam (Starky summons a Voltron-looking robot to attack
all enemies.)
Level 7: Meteor Zap (Starky summons the robot, who flies through the
air, and crashes down on the enemy party like a meteor. Who would have
guessed?! You need to bring Starky back to the crashed UFO after you've
obtained the anti-gravity device.)

Evaluation: Very cute, and very damaging skills.

--

Name: Spriggan
Quote: "A merry old lady with a taste for wine."
Species: Magic Clan
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: Right after Serge is transformed, she'll join automatically.
Weapon: Staff
Stats: 224 years old, 133 cm tall, 39 kg, Petite physique
Hometown: Never Never Land
Skills: Level 5: Copy Style

Spriggan can learn new morphs if she deals the killing blow to an enemy, or
someone in your active party is equipped with the Memory Pot.

Evaluation: Good with magic, lousy HP, and if you morph into a powerful
monster, you'll get an entirely new set of stats for the duration of the fight.
I'm working on a complete list of Spriggan's morphs, coming soon to a GameFAQs
page near you...

Name: Mojo (aka the artist formerly known as Lucky Dan)
Quote: "A souvenir from the East."
Occupation: Voodoo Doll
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: Anytime after getting to Another. Offer the Shark's Tooth pendant
(key item) you recieved in the fishmonger's basement in Home to the boy who
occupies the same space in Another.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: Age N/A, 190 cm tall, 9 kg, Waistless physique
Hometown: The East
Skills: Level 3: Cursed Dance (Mojo praces around in front of an emeny, and
laughs with derision.)
Level 5: Spinning Flame Dance (Mojo does cartwheels all over the
battlefield, striking all enemies.)
Level 7: Thrusting Flame Dance? (Mojo squeals with morbid delight, and
lifts one enemy into the air with the sharp end of the voodoo nail stuck
through his heart. Can only be acquired by taking Mojo to the fishmonger's
basement in Home, then back to his shrine in Another, and speaking with the cat
statues in a certain order: first the cat that stares at you (lower left), then
the one that buzzes with electricity (right), then finally the one that licks
you (upper left). Dan will give a pithy soliliquy about how he used to be evil,
but from travelling with Serge & company, he's decided he wants to be happy and
live life right.)

Evaluation: Mojo is a fascinating, complex character, and if I may say so,
perhaps the most fascinating, complex character ever rendered. He is a
contradiction in terms - he is the effigal messenger to an evil god, yet he
uses his powers for good when he joins your party. He has a nail through his
heart, yet he lives! Ropes bind his wrists, ankles, and pelvis, yet he dances
on! While his spindly, bantamweight body is made of straw, he wears a crown
festooned with three candles that could easily set him ablaze. Mojo is not
afraid! Mojo is an inspiration to us all. Don't believe me? Go to
http://toastyfrog.com/jump/luckydan.shtml to be converted! Soapboxing aside,
he's got some amusing attacks, an excellent evade rate, and his skills are
surprisingly strong given his crappy crappy stats.

--

Name: Kabu
Quote: "A veggie guy that came out of the ground."
Species: Duck-billed platypus. (No, he's a turnip.)
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: After completing the side quest in the burning house, go to the
solitary island in Another, and use the Ice Gun (key item) on the burnt patch
of earth. Then return to the same spot in Home, and Poshul will dig up the
sprout. I've not confirmed this, but I'm told you can recruit Kabu earlier in
the game, when/if you fight Harle right after acquiring the boat. Use the Water
Dragon's Freezing Breath (key item) on the scorched spot, instead of the Ice
Gun.
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 3 years old, 133 cm tall, 28 kg, Roundish physique
Skills: Level 3: Kabu Chop (Kabu leaps into the air and comes down on the
enemy, la Claude's Head Splitter.)
Level 5: Kabu Shock (Kabu spins in the air, and burrows into the
ground, reappearing underneath one enemy.)
Level 7: Kabu Magic (Kabu turns into a giant Kabu head, which splits in
two to reveal a smaller Kabu head, which also splits in two to reveal Kabu, who
leaps out. Bring him to the pond where you found Fio, at the Snakebone Manor,
with Fio in your party. Kabu & Fio will exchange words, and Kabu will jump into
the pond and turn.. pink?)

Evaluation: His character art makes me giggle uncontrollably - too much so to
properly hold a Playstation controller. Or maybe that's the Dual Shock acting
up? Regardless, he's not very powerful offensively, nor does he have a lot of
Element slots, but he has high-ish HP and can equip good swords.

--

Name: Fio (Actually "Improved Seed Fio", but you only get six spaces...)
Quote: "A flower child created by Luccia."
Species: Nauseatingly kawaii plant-thing
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: Anytime after leaving Gardov for medicine. A dwarf in the bar at
Gardov will give you a key item that makes a ringing noise, and can be used to
manipulate the plants in Hydra Swamp. (Ie, use it directly in front of them,
and they won't slap you.) Get the pink flower (key item) from the Hydra swamp
in Another world, take it to Another's Snakebone Manor, and use it on the
flower in the pond on the balcony.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 5 years old, 121 cm tall, 20 kg, Unfixed Form physique
Hometown: Snakebone Manor
Skills: Level 3: Bon Bon! (Fio shoots seeds out her sleeves at the enemy
party.)
Level 5: Chu Chu! (Fio siphons HP from one enemy.)
Level 7: Batan Batan! (Fio does some impressive tumbling, and
repeatedly bodyslams one enemy. Put Fio in your active party, and waylay the
land octopus from chasing the butterfly on the crescent island in Home a few
times by talking to him. Go up the hill, and when you come back down, the land
octopus should have eaten the butterfly. Keep harassing him until he lets it
go, whereupon a bunch of butterflies will thank Fio and she'll recieve Batan
Batan!)

Evaluation: Weak, weak, weak. Those of you expecting Peco part deux will be
disappointed. Don't bother, unless you have a surplus of Hell Plant Elements to
give her, or like kawaii little critters.

--

Name: Greco
Quote: "A spiritual medium who used to wrestle."
Occupation: Cemetary Man (no, not Rupert Evert..)
Elemental affiliation: Red
When found: After exploring the Snakebone Manor, in Termina, near Dario's
grave.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 33 years old, 201 cm tall, 123 kg, Heavy physique
Hometown: The Continent
Skills: Level 3: Lariat (Greco gathers power, and punches the enemy.)
Level 5: Spin Kick (Greco does some gymnastics, and comes down on one
enemy's head.)
Level 7: ? (Greco stands on somebody's grave, and jumps stomach-forward
onto one enemy. To find this, you must speak with the person in his shanty near
Dario's memorial in Another Termina.)

Evaluation: Pending. I have an aversion to gray haired pro wrestler looking
d00ds, so I haven't used him much.

--

Name: Skull
Quote: "A skeleton jester."
Occupation: Skeleton Jester
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: After finding all of his bones, take them to the house on the right
in the northern part of Another's Termina.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 32 years old, 187 cm tall, 23 kg, Big-Boned physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Lots and Lots of Balls (Skull throws a bubble at the ground,
which makes rainbow-colored bubbles crash down on the enemy party.)
Level 5: One Balloon (Skull blows a bubble, which rises into the air
and splashes down on him to recover some HP, and increase his attack power by
20%.)
Level 7: Big Ball Rolling (Skull summons a giant ball with his picture
on it, and dances on it towards one enemy. Bring Skull to the bar in Termina in
the Home dimension - he'll order some food and recieve his Level 7 skill. How
the heck is he supposed to eat when he doesn't have a gastrointestinal tract?!)

Evaluation: He's pretty weak physically, and IMHO not worth the trouble to
reassemble unless you're a character completist. If he has an evilly powerful
combination attack that makes him worthwhile, I haven't found it. All of his
bits & pieces are in Another - his cranuim is in the valley seperating Aruni &
Termina; his scapulas are beneath the waterfall in the Shadow-Cut Forest; his
ribcage is given to you by a fellow in the non-Flooded Ruins on Water Dragon
Island; his sacro-iliac is given to you by the Element splitter in Gardov; his
spine is in Hydra Swamp; and miscellaneous bone fragments are in the uppermost
cave on the first screen of Dead Man's Island.

--

Name: Funguy
Quote: "A pathetic mushroom weirdo."
Species: Mushroom, and all around fun guy
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: Anytime after passing through the mountains in the Home dimension.
In the sewers underneath the Snakebone Manor, defeat the Headless, and a man
will give you a little red mushroom (key item) from Guardia (?). Bring said
mushroom to the fellow underneath the waterfall in the Shadow Forest, pick the
first option, and he'll transform into Funguy.
Weapon: Axe
Stats: Ageless? 183 cm tall, 30 kg, Lightweight physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Axe Attack (Funguy attacks an enemy with his axe.)
Level 5: Spores (Funguy shoots spores into the air.)
Level 7: Something-or-other Mushroom (Funguy shakes spores from his
head, which become lots of little mushroom paratroopers when they touch the
ground, and attack an enemy en masse. After getting the Chrono Cross, bring
Funguy back to the cave whence he joined you, and there will be a junior
mushroom. Pick the first option.)

Evaluation: Take Doc's inefficiency in battle plus Irene's comic relief and you
have Funguy! (No relation to Funboi of "The Crow" fame.)

--

Name: Irene
Quote: "Zelbess dreamed of living in harmony with humans, and Irene is her
younger sister."
Species: Mermaid
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: In Nikki's dressing room at Home, if you spoke with her in Marbule.
Weapon: Harp & Pick
Stats: 16 years old, 178 cm tall, 52 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: The Ocean
Skills: Level 3: Water Breath (Irene spits water at an enemy.)
Level 5: Healing Song (Irene sings a song and heals one party member
for lots of of HP.)
Level 7: Tide Adjustment (Irene plays sour notes on her harp, while a
wave knocks down the enemy party. After Home's Marbule is cleared of the Efts,
go into the first house and speak with the bug man with the turquoise robe
twice. He'll give her a note about her Papa & Mama which I'm sure is very
interesting if you speak Japanese.)

Evaluation: Her HP is on the low side, and her hit percentage seems poor. Good
with magic, or for comic relief - not since Mesarthim has a mermaid so
capriciously eschewed water!

--

Name: Mel
Quote: "A young girl who loves to draw."
Occupation: Problem Child
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: After you get Kidd back, if you chased Mel down to reclaim your
elements, return to the Gardov of Another dimension with Kidd at the head of
your party and speak with her. You need to do this before you've completed the
tower in your premonition, and you can't recruit her if you went to the pirate
ship with Macha instead of Hydra swamp with Korcha.
Weapon: Boomerang
Stats: 10 years old, 129 cm tall, 38 kg, Skinny physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Steal (Mel pilfers an item. Kids these days!)
Level 5: Doodle (Mel draws on an enemy.)
Level 7: Tantrum (Mel has a hissy fit, damaging the entire enemy party.
This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Korcha's adopted sister. She can do a surprising amount of damage
with her boomerang, and she's one of the only 3 characters who has Steal. The
success rate of Steal for all thieves, BTW, is the same as the hit percentage
for the strongest attack, barring effects from Eagle Eye, which doesn't help.

--

Name: Leah
Quote: "A young primal girl who is full of life."
Species: Prehistoric Human
Elemental affiliation: Yellow
When found: On Gaia's Navel in Home while looking for the Green Dragon, she'll
join automatically.
Weapon: Axe
Stats: 6 years old, 104 cm tall, 32 kg, Childlike physique
Hometown: Gaia's Navel
Skills: Level 3: Boulder Smash (Leah throws boulders at one enemy.)
Level 5: Tail Spin (Leah twirls the tail of her outfit, creating a
tornado that damages the enemy party.)
Level 7: Triple Kick (Leah triple-kicks the enemy. This skill is
inherent.)

Evaluation: Leah is to Chrono Cross what Ayla was to Chrono Trigger. High HP,
high defense, high offense, and great skills.

--

Name: Van
Quote: "A child who is fussy about money."
Occupation: Learning to be a businessman
Elemental affiliation: Green
When found: Talk to him in his house in Home's Termina. His father gives him a
boomerang and he joins your party.
Weapon: Boomerang
Stats: 14 years old, 150 cm tall, 40 kg, Tiny physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Jump Throw (Van throws two boomerangs at an enemy.)
Level 5: Paint (Van throws 3 bottles of paint in the air and makes the
field effect all one random color.)
Level 7: Bank Dash (Van winds up his giant piggy bank, and sends it
hurtling towards the enemy. This skill is inherent, and if you take Bancliff to
his room in Home, you can put money into his piggy bank. For every 100 gil that
you put in, it adds 3% to the attack power of this skill. The bank holds 900
gil, so the max you can boost it to is 127%. However, the more gil you have in
the bank, the higher chance that the piggy bank will break, which may cause up
to twice as much damage. When the bank breaks, the money goes to zero.)

Evaluation courtesy of Leonard Wan (leowan@netvigator.ca): Pretty good I guess,
average attack, and strong attack hits all enemy. Has many magic slots good to
use as a recovery person in the party while providing decent physical attack.

--

Name: Snef
Quote: "An old magician who loves to gamble."
Occupation: Buck-toothed Master of Magic Tricks
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: Speak with him in the casino, then in the dressing room on Home's
Zelbess after you've defeated Kenja, the janitor.
Weapon: Cards
Stats: 53 years old, 167 cm tall, 63 kg, Average physique
Hometown: N/A
Skills: Level 3: Quick Throw (Snef throws his cards at an enemy.)
Level 5: HP Shuffle (Snef shuffles his HP, like a deck of cards.)
Level 7: Swordbox (Snef somehow gets the enemy into a steel box, and
then shoves some swords through it, like a magician. This skill is inherent.)

Evaluation: Fugly and useless, except when preforming a combination attack of
his Level 7 with Guile's Level 5. I think instead of HP Shuffle, he should have
an attack call Ugly Stick. Namely, that he beats an enemy with it. How about
it, Square?

--

Name: Steena
Quote: "The Oracle at the Dragon Shrine who leads the people."
Occupation: Shamaness
Elemental affiliation: White
When found: She'll join automatically at the end of Disc 1, when you show her a
certain key item.
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 24 years old, 175 cm tall, 50 kg, Slender physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Shadow of Diana (Steena summons a mermaid to attack an enemy.)
Level 5: Shadow of Hydra (Steena doesn't have an inherent Level 5
skill, although she can equip the Hydra Frame summon you can win from a dwarf
in Another's Hydra swamp.)
Level 7: Shadow of Gary (Steena summons Gary. To find this, examine
Gary's grave on the Dead Man's Island of Another reality.)

Evaluation: Steena has excellent magical power and neat-looking skills, and
does a good bit of damage with her sword as well. It's too bad you don't get
her until so late in the game.

--

Name: Doc
Quote: "Gardov's favorite village doctor."
Occupation: Tree-hugging hippie doctor
Elemental affiliation: White
When found: In Gardov, if you chose to go to the Zelbess instead of Hydra
swamp, ie Mamacha's tangent, after Kidd recovers her health he'll join
automatically.
Weapon: Throwing knives
Stats: 27 years old, 175 cm tall, 66 kg, Average physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: High Throw (Doc throws a knife into the air, which splits into
many knives and falls down, stabbing the enemy.)
Level 5: Bonebreak (Doc gathers holy power, and rushes forward to deal
a bone-breaking blow. Better damage than his Level 3.)
Level 7: Heal Shower (Doc heals your party for ~900 HP. In order to
find this, you need to bring Doc the Lost Medicine Encyclopedia. It's in a
seemingly inaccessable treasure chest in Chronopolis. Get the Station Pass key
item from one of the shadow men in the subway-looking room, and go through the
northwest door.)

Evaluation: Not very strong physically or adept with magic. Lame.

--

Name: Gyaradun (Guardian?)
Quote: "Artificial asassin."
Occupation: Cyborg Asassin
Elemental affiliation: Black
When found: After escaping the Snakebone Manor in Another while the Palepoli
troops reign, if you best him in battle. And ask real nice.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 26 years old, 203 cm tall, 182 kg, Armed and Ready physique
Hometown: N/A
Skills: Level 3: Rocket Arm (Gyaradun fires his cyborg arm - like a rocket! -
at one enemy.)
Level 5: Head Saber (Aqua Net be damned, Gyaradun jumps in the air and
astrally projects his hair to damage all enemies.)
Level 7: Dark Burst (Gyaradun detaches his arm, and grafts a new,
larger, more formidable-looking one in its place, which blasts the enemy. To
find this, put Gyaradun in the lead of your party and search the coffin-like
container in the storage room on the second floor of Chronopolis.)

Evaluation: Very high HP, and fairly powerful skills. He doesn't do as much
damage as the rest of the Snakebone Manor crew when you first get him, but his
skills and HP offset this.

--

Name: Pierre
Quote: "A self-proclaimed hero with a crimson ambition."
Occupation: Why, a self-proclaimed hero!
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: Before sneaking into Snakebone Manor (or in his case, storming the
gates), get his badge from the boy in Termina's training yard, then give the
badge back to him in Termina's smithy.
Weapon: Sword
Stats: 23 years old, 180 cm tall, 59 kg, Weak physique
Hometown: Termina
Skills: Level 3: Badge Recovery (Pierre brandishes his badge, restoring a
liliputian amount of HP.)
Level 5: Double Hit (Pierre slashes an enemy twice with his sword.)
Level 7: Cyrus Punch (Pierre tries to punch the enemy, but trips and
falls flat on his face. To recieve this skill, speak with Pierre - who is
curiously running laps around the room - at Termina's smithy in Another, if you
picked up the sword (key item) you found in the garden of the Vortex.)

Evaluation: He's lousy in term of offense, and he likes to spice up his
speeches with a bizarre English-French mishmash. I wonder if that's
socio-political commentary on behalf of Square that as a culture, English
speakers are ineffectual in battle, and dress oddly? Anyhoo, if you collect the
three pieces of Hero equipment, his attack and defense grow tremendously. The
"Hero Effect" is as follows: Hero Sword goes from 11 to 22 in attack power,
critical hit percentage is doubled, evade percentage is 25 up, the Badge's
spark power - in addition to the HP recovery - gives Pierre +20% attack,
defense, accuracy, magic attack, and magic defense. Also, Cyrus Punch - which
always fails - will now succeed.

--

Name: Orlha
Quote: "A martial artist who seeks her long-lost sister."
Occupation: Angsty pigtailed pub owner
Elemental affiliation: Blue
When found: Defeat her in Another's Gardov before finishing the quest for the
six dragon crystals, then after you've been transformed, speak with her in the
bar and show her the blue brooch.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: 23 years old, 165 cm tall, 54 kg, Muscular physique
Hometown: Gardov
Skills: Level 3: Continuous Hit (Orlha leaps forward and kicks one enemy
repeatedly, Chun-Li style.)
Level 5: Drunken Punch (Orlha swaggers drunkenly towards an enemy and
strikes them once, hard.)
Level 7: Sisters' Punches (Orlha and her sister attack an enemy for big
damage. You must take Orlha to Home's Gardov and speak with Doc to get her
Level 7. Bring a box of Kleenex.)

Evaluation: She can deal about as much - if not more - damage as Gyaradun.
Decent HP, decent defense. You *must* see her Level 5 skill at least once. Too
bad you get her so late in the game.

--

Name: Pip
Quote: "A transformation guinea pig who's brimming with curiousity."
Species: Chu-chu lite
Elemental affiliation: Varies, initially White
When found: Speak with him and open his cage (first option) in Luccia's lab the
first time you explore the Snakebone Manor, then catch him aboard Another's
Zelbess. Also, after you complete the tower in your premonition and return to
Another, he'll rejoin if you find him on the Zelbess.
Weapon: Glove
Stats: N/A
Hometown: Snakebone Manor
Skills: Level 3: Taiatari [lit: to throw onesself at] (Pip stands on his tail
and launches himself at the enemy.)
Level 5: Nagomu? [lit: peaceful] (Pip looks cute and dreams about a
warm sunny meadow, replenishing HP to all party members.)
Level 7: ? (Varies - the skill name and effect depend on what form of
Pip you have, but you'll get it around the 27th star, if you've created Pip
Archangel, Pip Archetype, or Pip Archdevil. The Skill names are as follows:
Archangel = Ascension; Archetype = Tsumalu Cannon; Archdevil = Hell Dance.)

Evaluation: Pip is on the weak side of average in terms of HP & physical
offense when you first get him, but quickly becomes a butt-kicking little
Pokemon, if you know how to transform him. Pikachu WISHES he was this awesome.
See Boko-kun's fabulous nifty sugoi FAQ for further details.

-- Combination Attacks --

In order to preform a combination attack, your characters need to have their
Element grid charged to the appropriate level, and at least 1.0 point of
stamina. Double techniques are listed first, then Triple techs. On a final
note, I highly doubt this is the sum and total of combination attacks in Chrono
Cross. Try characters that have a story connection - like Riddle and Karsh, or
Korcha and Mel, or try skills that would naturally seem to go together - like
Leena's and Orlha's Level 3.

Serge (3) and Glenn (3): X Strike, Red elemental (Serge and Glenn dash at an
enemy from opposite directions, dealing big damage.)

Mel (3) and Kidd (3): W-Steal, Red elemental (Mel and Kidd dash at an enemy
from opposite directions and steal an item.)

Miki (7) and Nikki (7): Flamenco, Red elemental (Miki and Nikki preform the
Flamenco, which boosts the hit accuracy and defense of all party members.)

Fio (7) and Kabu (7): Kabu Final, Green elemental (Kabu turns into a giant Kabu
head, which Fio then repeatedly crushes the enemy with.)

Karsh (3) and Zoah (7): Dragon Brawl, Green elemental (Zoah runs forward and
strikes the enemy, while Karsh follows suit on his dragon steed.)

Leah (7) and Draggy (7): Dragon Ride, Yellow elemental (Leah hops on Draggy's
back and together they attack one enemy.)

Viper (5) and Radius (7): True Dragon Slash, White elemental (Jyakotu and
Radius take turns slashing an enemy with their sword and cane, respectively.)

Ishito (7) and Gyaradun (7): Dark Spark, Black elemental (Gyaradun fires his
arm laser into the air, which Ishito then shoots more energy towards, creating
a Black vortex that damages all enemies.)

Snef (7) and Guile (5): Sword Storm, Black elemental (Snef puts the enemy into
a box, then he and Guile shove swords through it.)

Spriggan (5, and morph into Soy Sauce), Serge (7), and Kidd (5): Z Slash, Blue
elemental (Serge, Kidd, and Soy Sauce dash at an enemy from all three
directions, and a large "Z" appears over the enemy.)

Serge (Level 5), Leena (Level 7), and Lazzuli (Level 7): ?, White elemental

-- Miscellaneous --

While you can't get all 44 characters your first time through the game, it is
possible to get them in a New Game+. Here's how: restart in a New Game+, and
take a different story path - recruiting Guile instead of Pierre, or Macha
instead of Korcha, for example. Then, when you get the Chrono Cross, go to
Hydra Swamp in the Home dimension, and warp to Spriggan's place. Use the Chrono
Cross (key item, not the Element) as soon as you get to Spriggan's, and you
should create an invisible spot that makes a twinkling noise when you walk over
it. Standing on this spot, use the Chrono Cross again, and you should have all
your characters back from other saves on the memory card! You can even get
Tukuyomi back this way, if you have a non-New Game+ save with her.

I don't think it's possible to get Maji, Lisa, Una, Rosetta, Dario, Miguel,
Bancliff's father, or any other NPC as a playable character. They most likely
have character art because they're part of the story. In addition, I've gotten
all of the characters, and there simply isn't room on the list for anyone else
- sorry. I'd like to have these guys in my party, but I've tried all manner of
convincing them to come along (shown them certain Key Items, spoken to them
with certain people in my party, etc), yet they won't join. Oh well, sucks to
be us!

An easy way to find materials with which to make Prism weapons is to kill
enemies with your Summons in battle. The cherubs in the Star Tower use lots of
White magic, and for Green, one of the best places is at the End of Time - the
grayish squatting troll monsters in the second portal from the left on the top
row use Green magic exclusively. Also, the mannequin-looking robots in that
same portal will mirror your spells; cast Discharge on them, for example, and
they'll cast it right back on you. They don't appear to use elemental attacks
beside that, so this is a quick way to build up the field effect without worry
of being interrupted.

It's possible to get all the Level 7 Summons before going to the Star Tower and
fighting the six Dolls! Believe it or not, common enemies are carrying them,
but will only use the summons if the field effect is the appropriate color. The
Niwatrice near the broken eggs in Home's valley has Unicorn (the ones in
Another are downright truculent, and refuse to summon Uni); Yamaneko's shadow
cats in that same valley in Another have The Visitor; the Doggies in the Fire
Cave in both dimensions carry Mariid; the groups of four Scorpions in Hydra
Swamp in Another are bogarting Golem; the Bulbs in Home's forest have Sonya;
and lastly, the Blue Dragon will give you G Frog along with the Freezing Breath
key item if you go to the Flooded Ruins in the Home dimension before the Fire
Cave. Remember, you need to use a Trap Summon Element, which are sold in
Marbule midway through the game. If you can't get the enemy to use their
summon, run away, then engage them in battle again. I've noticed that - at
least in the case of the Scorpions and Bulbs - that a group of 2 Scorpions or
several Bulbs will NOT use the summon, while a group of 4 Scorpions or a lone
Bulb will. Be patient.

You can steal Element-absorbing armors from each of the six dragons. Stealing
from the Yellow dragon will yield a breastplate that absorbs Yellow, stealing
from the Red dragon will let you absorb Red, and so on and so forth. This
doesn't appear to make you weaker to the opposite element, as far as I can
tell.

In Chonopolis, on the left room of the fourth floor, if you press the action
button next to the pink light on the left - near where you got the card key -
you'll see the text portion of the intro to Radical Dreamers.

Speaking of Radical Dreamers, Zophar's Domain (http://www.zophar.net/) has the
complete soundtrack in .spc format. Which is actually a misnomer, since there
are only 14-odd "songs", half of which are just sound effects. Nonetheless,
this collection is worth checking out - those of you who've played Chrono Cross
(hopefully that's all of you, otherwise why would you be reading this FAQ?)
will hear several familiar tracks. RD-Battle.spc, which sounds just like the
Chrono Cross battle theme; RD-Mysterious.spc, which is the same track that
plays when you sneak into the Snakebone Manor; RD-Teller.mp3, which is the sad
theme associated with Kidd; and RD-Title.spc & RD-Mirror.spc, which are the
intro track and music box -like reprise of said intro track, respectively, and
sound very much like the overworld music for Another. You can play spc files in
Winamp if you have a certain plugin, or download ZDspc, which provides a much
clearer sound than Winamp.

Oddity: Sometimes the Black Dragon will give you his crest without waking up,
if you didn't go to Nikki's dresing room and choose to help fight the Efts.
However, this means you can't partake in that particular sidequest, and
likewise can't get Irenes, Miki, any prism weapons, or watch that GAWD AWFUL
rock opera. Nikki's ship simply disappears in the Home dimension.

Did You Notice?: in Dario's house, there's a picture of Glenn on the wall. If
you press the action button next to it, it'll fall and reveal a picture of
Riddle. There's also a picture of Riddle on the east wall of the secret room in
Termina's bar.
