                              2 - Intro

                            2.1 - About me

      I am Brazilian, born 08/19/1979. Please excuse the errors,
 my English is very bad. This is my 4th FAQ.
      Not as bad as I am playing Medal of Honor (MoH). I like
 Goldeneye 007 for N64 very much, but MoH is, no doubt, much cooler
 than Goldeneye (not for multiplayer).

      I will not write a FAQ about the game for several reasons: 1) I
 don't have a PSX, so I can only play in games centers; 2) I can't,
 for this and other reasons, make a FAQ with photos, and it is, in
 my humble opinion, impossible to write a FAQ for this game w/out
 photos. But as I like weapons very much, and know a little about
 them, I decided to write this FAQ. There are also some tactics for
 gunfights. As gunfights will be present in the entire game, this
 should help you a little. If not, there are some facts about the
 weapons that you might find interesting.

      I think this guide is good for beginners, because I am a
 beginner in the game also! :) But some good players might also
 find something useful.

      Search for walkthroughs and more complete FAQs in GameFAQs
 (http://www.gamefaqs.com); in GameFAQs you will also find FAQs for
 nearly every game you that exists, no wonder! :)

      This is the best, coolest and more realistic 1st person, 3D
 action game ever made for PSX.
      Say NO to drugs and to 007 - Tomorrow Never Dies :(
      Say yes to Medal of Honor! :D

                            2.2 - History Review

 0.00  - 02/02/2000 - First version, unreleased.
 0.00a - 05/03/2000 - Unreleased, minor review.

                              3 - About the game

      The years are 1944-1945, the final years of World War II.
 You are Lt. Jimmy Patterson, a very skilled warrior, specialist
 in sabotages. You are sent deeply into Germany, and your mission
 is to difficult the German war effort. You are inserted in very
 dangerous places, and have to accomplish your mission - and to
 stay alive!!

      Wow. That was the only thing I could say after the 1st time I
 played this game. The Artificial Inteligence (AI) of the enemies is
 fantastic, the scenarios very cool, the sound perfect, and also very
 realistic. I was more impressed after my 1st play in this game than
 after my 1st play in Goldeneye 007 for the N64.
      Pity that the PSX doesn't have such a controller as the N64. If
 MoH could only have a more sophisticated control, it would be more
 than perfect, specially for Multiplayer. The Multiplayer also
 suffers with the small stages. Small possibly due to the PSX
 capability and/or disc space.
      But the feature I like more in this game is the availability of
 weapons. You have several at your disposal, with a high degree of
 reality. I have only seen such realistic details in weapons in the
 Resident Evil (RE) series and in Dino Crisis, both from Capcom.
      Well, let's cut the chat, OK? Let's go to business...

                          4 - About the weapons

      You won't have any lasers, smart weapons, etc. - remember,
 the history line is 1944-1945, 55+ years ago! The weapons are
 higly realistic, and their correct usage means the difference
 between victory and defeat.
      The weapons are very different, each one with its own pros
 and cons. As there are several factors to evaluate, I will give
 a small explanation of each one. The weapons are:

 PISTOLS
 * Colt .45
 * Colt .45 (silenced)
 * Walther P38

 AUTOMATICS
 * MP40
 * Thompson
 * BAR
 * MG42

 * SHOTGUN

 RIFLES
 * M1 Garand
 * Springfield

 GRENADES
 * US grenade
 * German grenade

 * BAZOOKA

      The tech features are:

 * Ammo - the type of ammo the weapon uses

 * Mag - the max amount of ammo the weapon carries in the magazine.

 * Fire Mode - automatic, semiautomatic or manual. Automatic weapons
               can fire in bursts, and semiauto weapons shoots faster
               than manual reloading ones.

 * Power - the amount of damage a head shot does (in multiplayer
           mode). For the shotgun, the power diminishes as the enemy
           is farther. For explosive weapons, the power diminishes as
           the enemy is farther of the explosion fire blast. In both
           cases, a close hit kills instantly. In normal game, a head
           shot of any weapon (except shotgun at a distance) kills
           your enemy instantly.

 * Fire Rate - the amount of shots that can be fired in a given period
               of time. Auto weapons are the best in this regard,
               naturally. Manual weapons are the worst, semiauto in
               the middle.

 * Precision - the probability that a shot will hit in the aim point.

 * Blast - for explosive weapons/shotgun, the size of the blast.

 * Shot Speed - the speed of the projectile.

 * Overall - overall ranking of the weapon.

      Marks: they vary from 1 to 5 "stars", where:
      *     - it sucks
      ***** - it rocks

      PISTOLS

      * Colt .45 (Colt .45 silenced)

 * Ammo       - pistol
 * Mag        - 7
 * Fire Mode  - semiauto
 * Power      - ca. 1/6
 * Fire Rate  - **
 * Precision  - *****
 * Shot Speed - ****
 * Overall    - ** (***)

      This is the legendary Colt 1911A1, cal. .45 Auto, used by the
 US in nearly every war of this century (remeber that the 21st century
 begins in 01/01/2001!!), except those of the 1900s and 1990s. In some
 stages, you can use a silenced version. A bright pistol (sometimes
 with a black silencer).

 * PROS  - good fire rate (for a semiauto);
         - kingsize precision;
         - stealthiness (silenced version).

 * CONS  - low mag capability;
         - low power if doesn't hit the head

 * Usage - to save ammo for other weapons (e.g.: eliminate lonely
           enemies, destroy objects, etc.)
         - when you don't have other options :(
         - if you are careful, with a good cover and/or in narrow
           places, you can eliminate severeal enemies (that's risky,
           indeed)

         - not against crouds, specially in open places
         - not against enemies shooting at you, specially with SMGs

      * Walther P38

 * Ammo       - pistol
 * Mag        - 8
 * Fire Mode  - semiauto
 * Power      - ca. 1/6
 * Fire Rate  - ***
 * Precision  - *****
 * Shot Speed - ****
 * Overall    - ***

      An excellent German pistol. The caliber of this beautiful
 black pistol is the most widely used centerfire caliber in the
 world - the 9 mm Luger, an excellent military caliber. Unfortunately,
 the weapon is rare in the game, you can only have it in 3 stages:
 "The Rooftops of Dachsmag", "Hunter's Den" and "Dive!". :(

 * PROS - best fire rate of semiauto weapons
         - kingsize precision

 * CONS - low mag capability
         - low power if doesn't hit the head

 * Usage - to save ammo for other weapons (e.g.: eliminate lonely
           enemies, destroy objects, etc.)
         - when you don't have other options :(
         - if you are careful, with a good cover and/or in narrow
           places, you can eliminate severeal enemies (that's risky,
           indeed)

         - not against crouds, specially in open places
         - not against enemies shooting at you, specially with SMGs

      AUTOMATICS

      * MP40

 * Ammo       - smg
 * Mag        - 30
 * Fire Mode  - auto
 * Power      - ca. 1/7
 * Fire Rate  - ***
 * Precision  - **
 * Shot Speed - *****
 * Overall    - ****

      One of the most famous and produced Sub-MachineGuns (SMGs) ever.
 Descendant of the 1st SMG ever, the famed Bergmann MP18, the brighty
 Bergmann MP40 shoots 9mm ammo.

 * PROS - the largest mag of the game
         - auto fire

 * CONS  - poor precision
         - the worst fire rate of all automatics
         - very low power, except in head shots

 * Usage - against crouds, specially in open places
         - against shhoting enemies
         - against objects
         - despair ;)

         - not for precision shots

      * Thompson

 * Ammo       - smg
 * Mag        - 20
 * Fire Mode  - auto
 * Power      - ca. 1/7
 * Fire Rate  - *****
 * Precision  - ***
 * Shot Speed - *****
 * Overall    - *****

      Possibly the most famous SMG ever, the Auto Ordnace Corp. (AOC)
 Thompson M3 "Grease Gun", is one of the very best weapons in the
 game. A long weapon with wooden grips.

 * PROS - the highest fire rate of the game
         - cool noise

 * CONS - very low power, except in head shots
         - lower mag capability then the MP40
         - the mag gets empty pretty fast if you aren't careful

 * Usage - against crouds, specially in open places
         - against shooting enemies
         - agains objects
         - despair ;)

         - not for precision shots

      * BAR

 * Ammo       - rifle/smg
 * Mag        - 20
 * Fire Mode  - auto
 * Power      - ca. 1/7
 * Fire Rate  - ****
 * Precision  - ***
 * Shot Speed - *****
 * Overall    - *****

      The Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was an experimental weapon
 in WWII, produced in very small numbers, in the cal. 7mm Mauser. A
 long weapon with wooden grips and bipod.

 * PROS - it can use both rifle and smg ammo. This accounts for the
           largest ammo availability in the game
         - fair fire rate, bigger than the MP40 but smaller than the
           Thompson, allows good firepower without wasting ammo
         - extremely cool sound of fire and looks

 * CONS  - low precision
         - lower mag capability then the MP40
         - low power, except in head shots

 * Usage - all time, all situations, except precision shots. Best
           overall weapon of the game, mainly due to the highest
           ammo availability possible

      * MG42

 * Ammo       - N/A
 * Mag        - infinite
 * Fire Mode  - auto
 * Power      - ca. 1/7(?)
 * Fire Rate  - ****
 * Precision  - **
 * Shot Speed - ****
 * Overall    - *****

      This is one of the best weapons ever made, and it began the era
 of portable MachineGuns (MGs) of our days. A bright weapon, fixed
 in bunkers, vehicles, over sandbags, etc., in cal. 7mm Mauser.

 * PROS  - infinite ammo
         - fair fire rate, most like the BAR
         - super cool sound and appearence when you shoot

 * CONS - the worst precision of all weapons
         - fixed mount, you cannot carry it with you
         - limited field of view
         - you can't move while you are using this gun, so you are
           more vulnerable against grenades and rockets

 * Usage - whenever you can put your hands in one. Fire to all
           directions after you kill close enemies. This way, you can
           eliminate distant enemies, saving lifebar, ammo and time

         - not in open places, where you can't hit everyone. Beware
           with rockets and grenades

      SHOTGUN

 * Ammo       - shotgun shells
 * Mag        - 8
 * Fire Mode  - manual
 * Power - varies, but can be full
 * Fire Rate  - *
 * Blast      - ***
 * Shot Speed - ****
 * Overall    - ***

      I don't know this specific shotgun, must be a Remington 10
 gauge. Do shotguns need description? ;)

 * PROS - extremely powerful at short range
         - can hit 2 or more enemies with a single shot
         - very cool appearence, sound and effects

 * CONS - SLOW to fire
         - uneffective at any range but up close
         - low mag capability

 * Usage - in narrow places, one enemy at a time
         - against objects, but be careful: an explosion may hazard
           you, as you need to be close for effectiveness

         - not against crouds
         - not in open places

      RIFLES

      * M1 Garand

 * Ammo       - rifle
 * Mag        - 8
 * Fire Mode  - semiauto
 * Power      - 1/4
 * Fire Rate  - ***
 * Precision  - ****
 * Shot Speed - ***
 * Overall    - ****

      One of the decisive factors of victory against the German Army
 (Wehrmacht) was this rifle. Being semiauto, it was much faster than
 German bolt-action rifles. A long, dark rifle.

 * PROS - fair fire rate
         - excellent precision
         - good power

 * CONS - low mag capability
         - no auto fire

 * Usage - ambush situations
         - to save ammo for SMGs
         - precision shots

         - not against crouds
         - not in enemies shooting at you
         - not in open places

      * Springfield Sniper Rifle

 * Ammo       - rifle
 * Mag        - 5
 * Fire Mode  - manual
 * Power      - full
 * Fire Rate  - *
 * Precision  - *****
 * Shot Speed - *****
 * Overall    - *****

      A sniper, scoped Springfield .30-06 cal. rifle. Unfortunately,
 it is hard to find... And, due to the low processing capability of
 the PSX (compared to the N64 or Dreamcast), the scenarios are
 "built" while you walk, so the Sniper Rifle sight doesn't have the
 same effective range of its equivalent in the Goldeneye. *sob*

 * PROS - the most precise weapon in the game
         - the most powerful weapon at long range
         - the coolest shoot sound of the game
         - the fastest projectile of the game

 * CONS - the worst fire rate of the game
         - the smallest mag of the game

 * Usage - precision long range shots againt lonely enemies
         - to kill MG42 crew
         - ambush situations

         - NEVER against crouds

      GRENADES

      Stielehantgranade, if I'm not wrong. A grenade with a long
 handle.

 * PROS  - large blast
         - kills instantly if explodes near your enemy

 * CONS - can hazard you

 * Usage - against lonely enemies.
         - against objects

         - not against crouds in open places
         - beware of multiple explosions and large blast

      BAZOOKA

 * Ammo       - bazooka shells

 * Fire Mode  - manual
 * Power      - explosive
 * Fire Rate  - **
 * Blast      - *****
 * Shot Speed - **
 * Overall    - *****

      The Bazooka was created by American scientists, as a response
 against the fearsome German battle tanks Tiger and Panzer. An
 olive-green rocket launcher.

 * PROS - the largest blast of all explosive weapons
         - very long range
         - very cool sight

 * CONS - slow to fire
         - slow projectiles
         - may hazard you

 * Usage - against crouds tight togheter
         - against protected enemies (coughMG42cough)
         - against smart enemies

         - not close to walls (specially on your right)
         - not too close from enemies
         - beware with multiple explosions and HUGE blast

                        5  - Gunfight Tactics

      A good hint to get skills in gunfights is to play another
 1st person, 3D game. The best for videogames is Goldeneye, for the
 N64. Commands look very much to MoH, but the enemies don't have such
 a high AI. You need, of course, to move well and easily. After that,
 and if you have trouble in advanced stages, here go some hints.

      The super-high AI of the enemies is a trouble, but can be used
 at your advantage.

      * Some enemies will seek hard cover to fight you. Shoot them
 while they run. Some boxes may explode, so shoot the box until it
 does.

      * If you throw a grenade, some enemies will try to throw it
 back. Launch a grenade, switch to a firearm and wait. If anyone
 tries to throw the grenade back, shoot him. Don't bother if you do
 not kill the enemy with the shot: the grenade will explode, killing
 him and anyone nearby. If anyone tries to run away, shoot at will.

      * Hide from behind a wall to kill your enemies. You'll be
 harder to hit, but beware of grenades (you can hear them tossing
 grenades at you).

      * Kill your enemies from as far as possible. Ususally, where
 you can only see one guy, there are more hidden, so you can have
 more time to react.

      * Avoid battles in open places, specially against crouds. You
 will be a sitting duck.

      * If you are hit and can't see your enemy, watch the lifebar. It
 indicates the direction of the shoot.

      * Lay on the ground only if you don't have a suitable hideout,
 specially against SMGs.

      * DO follow this order of importance when you fight 2 (or more)
 enemies:

 Grenade - Panzerschreck - MG42 - MP40  - Rifle - Pistol
 If anyone tries to throw a grenade, hit him ASAP: the grenade may
 kill several enemies, or make them run. Both cases make your life
 a lot easier. Moreover, if you aren't careful, a grenade may kill
 you immediately.

     * Aim the heads of your enemies. This will kill them much
 faster. The exceptions are: MG42s and Panzerschrecks, unless if
 they aren't shooting yet. But do not hit the helmet: you will only
 take it out, requiring a 2nd shot to kill. Aim the neck or the
 face.

      * Panzerschreck guys: Germany also developed a man-portable
 rocket launcher during WWII, the Panzerschreck (Panther Claw).
 Soldiers with Panzerschrecks are the most lethal enemies, because
 they can kill you instantly and from a very long range. Eliminate
 them ASAP. Against a Panzerschreck guy, walk toward him as you
 shoot. This is a desperation move, because it is too risky: due to
 the high AI, your enemies know that a close explosion may hazard
 themselves as well, and they won't shoot if you are too close! In
 stages with Panzerschreck guys, watch your back often, or ONE guy
 may kill you before you can react (that hapenned to me more some
 times!). This is annoying, specially if you are close to the end
 of the stage... :[

      * Also, against a Panzerschreck guy, place yourself far away
 and behind a low cover. As the shooter must lay (or bend) down before
 he shoots, the rockets won't pass. They will blow in the cover,
 killing him and/or other enemies nearby. This is risky though.

      * Panzerschrecks are also slow to reload. The rocket is clearly
 visible, because it has fire on its tail. Avoid the rocket and kill
 the guy while he is reloading.

      * Using the Bazooka, aim directly at your enemy only if he is
 stopped. If he is moving, aim at a wall close to him or to the
 ground. The sight of the Bazooka is more or less like the drawing
 below: the point of aim is the vertical line (|). The huge blast
 will kill him and any other enemies close immediately.
  -----
 \  |  /
  \ | /
   \ /

      * Don't get stopped too long, and get used to move with the
 strafe buttons - and combine them with the normal d-pad.

      * During a gunfight, press the reload/action button to reload
 your weapon. BEFORE you run out of ammo, that is. If you press the
 button during fire, the reload will happen as soon as you stop to
 fire.

      * Unlike Goldeneye, in this game it is worhty to loose time and
 aim. The head, preferrably. But if you are using an Automatic,
 remember that they have low precision. Aim in the torso area, and
 some shots may hit the head.

      * MG42 bunker: If an enemy gets his hands in one of these, you
 are doom, so eliminate him from the safest position possible, or try
 to ignore and get him from behind - most bunkers have secret
 entrances, look for them!

      * MP40 SMG: Enemies with this weapon are hard to beat in open
 places, so try to hide and kill them from as far as possible, or
 they will waste your lifebar quickly - specially if there are 2 or
 more of them... :(

      * Rifles: Enemies with rifles are not as dangerous as enemies
 with SMGs, but they shoot with pinpoint accuracy and hard-hitting,
 so beware.

      * Pistols: the least dangerous enemies, but don't abuse,
 because they shoot fast.

      These tactics may also be used in Multiplayer. Aim the head,
 don't get stopped too long and good luck!

 Johnatan, Max, Ricardo, Marcos, Hugo, Norbert and Leandro.
 I'm building a site about firearms and ammo, in Portuguese (our
 official language, rather than Spanish), with my bud Marlon.
