Section I. Frequently Asked Questions

a. This game is confusing. Who's this Loto guy, and what's he got to do with
the game?
Well, to tell you the truth, you should play Dragon Warrior I before
playing this one. A lot of people make the mistake of playing Dragon Warrior II
first just because it 'looks' cooler. Bad mistake. Dragon Warrior I explains
the entire storyline behind the Dragon Warrior Triad, as well as some of the
lines in Dragon Warrior II. Besides, it's more fun to play sequels in order.

b. I tried to find the Prince of Cannock, but he keeps leaving everywhere he
goes. Now they say he went back to Cannock, but the King says he hasn't come
back yet. Where is he now?
Leftwyne (at least I think that's how it's spelled). If you read
carefully, the book distinctly tells you to talk to everyone. There is a lady
in the upper floor of the Inn of Lorasia Castle that tells you that Leftwyne is
where weary travelers go to rest. If the Prince has not come back 'yet', that
means he could be on his way but stopped somewhere. Check Leftwyne. Simply
follow the coastline from Lorasia to the west until you see some sand to the
north. Follow the sand to its western edge and Leftwyne is directly to the west
of the sandy area. Or, from Cannock, walk directly south.

c. I can't find the friggin Silver Key for the life of me. Where is it?
It's in the Lake Cave. Actually, you can get your hands on the Silver Key
before you even get the Prince of Cannock, if your hero is built up good enough.
Simply walk to the west from Lorasia Castle, as far as you can possibly walk.
You'll cross over some bridges possibly, and eventually you'll see a cave, with
two bridges in front, surrounded by water. This is the Lake Cave. A few levels
inside is the Silver Key.

d. I can't find the LaMirror. I found the guy who's telling me I need this to
see the truth, but I can't find it. Where is it?
To the east of Moonbrooke Castle is a square swamp area. If you search
the upper right corner, you'll find the LaMirror.

e. I got this Cloak of Wind from the tower, but I don't know what to do with
it. What does it do?
The Cloak of Wind enables you to drift a small distance from wherever you
jumped from. For example, if you jump from the top of a tower, the Cloak of
Wind will carry you a little further. This is helpful to cross rivers and other
blocked areas. Later, you'll encounter dual towers separated by a river, where
you'll need to jump from one to get to the other side.

f. I'm at the town of Lianport. There's an old man with a ship and he's not
using it. I can't walk anywhere else and I need that boat, but he won't let me
have it. I'm stuck; what do I do?
You'll need to show him you're worthy of the boat. To do so, walk
directly west from where he's standing and past the weapons shop. You'll see a
girl surrounded by Gremlins. Defeat the Gremlins and save the girl, who will
reveal herself as the granddaughter of the ship owner. She'll take you to him,
who will gladly lend you his boat anytime you want.

g. Everything's SO expensive now; I don't have near enough money for the
equipment I need. How do I get some good money quick?
If you happen to have a Wizard Ring, sell it. It will net you about
1825G, and you won't really have a need for it this early in the game. You'll
come across some more later on. Also, you can go back to the Drakhorn Tower
North and fight on the ground floor. The Magic Ants will randomly drop a useful
item; plus the enemies give about 100G per fight. At that rate, you should be
able to make some good money in good time.

h. I was sailing around Alefgard, and I found a shrine where the guy was
guarding a helmet but said I had to prove I was a descendant of Loto. What's he
mean? Can't he see the resemblance?
Unfortunately, no. You'll need to come back here with the Loto Seal, an
item found later in the course of the game. With it, you can prove you are
Loto's descendants. Also, it makes some weaker enemies run away, so you don't
have to waste your time with them.

i. Where can I find the Dew Yarn?
It's located in the Drakhorn Tower North, 3rd Floor. You have to do some
searching on each square of the floor to find it. Also, you may have to talk to
the lady in Tantegel Castletown behind the Golden Door that normally sells it.
She will tell you the location of it and this may trigger the event.

j. Where can I find the Jailer's Key?
On the main continent, at the very southern tip, lies another town. This
town is actually underground, behind a Golden Door. In it, there is an item
shop directly on the left side of town. When you view his inventory, there will
be an extra empty spot that you can highlight. Select it, and he will offer to
sell you the Jailer's Key for about 2000G.

k. Is there an in-game map of this land?
Yes. To get it, you must go all the way through the castle of DracoLord.
Once you get down to his room, search the chests. You will find a WorldMap.

l. Where are the 5 Crests (Seals) located?
	Sun Crest = Fire Monolith, out by the tree on the right;
	Moon Crest = Osterfair, after defeating the SaberLion;
	Star Crest = Star Tower, after defeating the Gremlins;
	Water Crest = Hamlin, inside the prison in the far right corner;
Life Crest = Cave to Rhone, basement, fall through pit, right bottom
corner

m. I got the 5 Crests (Seals). Now what do I do with them?
Take them to the solitary monolith directly south of Lorasia Castle by
ship. You'll know it because there's no land, it's just a monolith on the
water. Inside is nothing but stairs, leading down in front of a waterfall, and
at the bottom is one square in the center. Stand on the square and Rubiss will
bless you with the RubissChm.

n. I keep getting kicked back to the beginning on the 6th floor of the Cave to
Rhone. How do I get out of here??
Here's the solution (this has been changed from the NES version):
Right, Upper Left, Upper Right, Far Right (Upper), Up (no other
direction), Left, Up, Right. Then keep going right and down and you should
eventually reach the exit stairs. (Email me if this does not work for you, we
can probably go through it together via ICQ or AOHELL or MSN)

o. How do I get out of this shrine that is supposed to lead to the Cave of
Rhone?
When you take the Warp Gate from Beran's House of Healing, and you appear
in the midst of the poisoned ground, go straight south to a hidden doorway.

p. What is the best gear for the Prince of Cannock?
	From what I've found..
Weapon: Light Sword -OR- Falcon Sword depending on the enemy. Light Sword
for raw strength, Falcon Sword for # of hits (for Metalies or Metabbles)
	Armor: Fur Coat
Shield: Heal Shield (I think this was the Shield of Strength on NES, but
it doesn't heal anymore. That bites.)
Helmet: Magic Hat (you can get one inside of the Cave to Rhone, on the 3rd
Floor, down and to the left.)

q. What do the cursed items do? I have the Devil Sword/Evil Shield/Devil
Armor, and I have it equipped, and it's WAY stronger than my other stuff!
Shouldn't I keep it on?
That depends. Sure you benefit from the strength and it IS real strength,
but there's a catch. Randomly, your player will 'freeze', meaning that they
lose a turn of attack. So it's really up to you to decide if missing a few hits
is really a big deal. Personally, I'd rather have accuracy than power, but you
may feel differently.

r. Where's the Loto Armor?
3rd Floor of the Cave to Rhone. Go all the way down and then to the
right. You should see some stairs in a small corner. Take the stairs up to the
armor.

s. Where's the Bolt Wand?
Lorasia Castle. You have to defeat the Magus to get it, and you must have
both the Silver Key and the Jailer's Key to get to him, as well as some pretty
good strength and healing abilities. Go into the building on the right, and
open the Silver Door and follow the path up to the stairs. Take the stairs down
and into the prison, past the guard, and open the Jail Door down. Walk over the
poison floor to the prisoner and talk to him. He'll engage you in battle. You
must defeat him to get the wand. Keep in mind that he's no pushover; he has
Explodet which can kill your entire party if you're not ready.

t. I'm trying to get the Treasure to take back to this guy. Where is the
sunken ship?
First, you had to have talked to the guy on the second floor of the House
of Healing in Tantegel Castle. He will tell you about the shipwreck and the
treasure. If you do not do this, YOU CAN NOT FIND THE TREASURE. Once you have
talked to him and said "Yes" to his question, go back to Lianport, set sail,
move one spot forward and then 58 spots north. The sparkling in the ocean you
see to the left of your ship is the Treasure. Sail on top of it and search.

w. Is it even possible to win that friggin Slot Game?
Possible, yes. Anything's possible. Easy? No way. The game's
specifically rigged so that it's easier to get Triple Heart than it is to get
Triple Water, and so on.

x. Where can I get more SlotTokens besides buying an obscene number of Herbs
and Antidotes from stores?
MagicAnts will randomly drop them after battle. You can find them in the
Drakhorn Tower North, 1st floor.

y. I passed the Cave to Rhone! But then, I went back because I forgot a
WorldLeaf, and now I can't get back to the shrine inside. How do I get in?
If you saved anywhere outside of Rhone, the good news is.well, actually
there IS no good news. The bad news is, you'll have to do the cave
all.over.again. The next time, when you save at the shrine, make sure that is
the ONLY place you do save, or else you'll have to keep going through that cave.
If you didn't save outside, simply use the Return spell. That should take you
back to the shrine.

z. Where do I get the Watergate (Dam) Key from? I need to open this dam so I
can get to the tower south of Tuhn.
Lagos the Thief has it. In order to find him, you'll need to go to the
town near the Cave to Rhone, and into the prison. The guard tells you that
Lagos escaped, but he doesn't know how. Open the cell and search the right
wall. You'll find a hidden passage leading to Lagos. He'll give you the Dam
Key.

aa. How do I get to the upper/lower levels of Hargon's Castle? I used the
RubissChm to show the true castle, but it's only one floor. There's no stairs
or anything!
After using the RubissChm to show the true nature of the castle, go to
the throne. To the left and rear of the throne, against the back wall, is a
secret door. Open this door, and you'll step through into the room in the back.
There's another door you can open here; open this door to go into the main room.
Stand in the center of the cross on the floor and use the EvlStatue.

//_Hints for Beginners_//

- Talk to EVERYONE. You never know what you may find; some people may actually
be the trigger to an event later in the game.

- Don't be afraid to spend a little money here and there. You'll be thankful
you did later on.

- Just because a piece of armor is more expensive doesn't always mean it's
better. Be sure you take note of what effect an armor has (i.e. defense against
fire).

- As you progress in the game, you'll find that each of your party members
becomes more and more vital to getting through the game. Make sure you keep
them alive at all costs.

- The Seeds spread throughout the game will be very beneficial to your party.
You may want to increase the Princess' HP, and the Prince's Strength.

- Once you've got the Boat, don't be afraid to explore. You'll be amazed at
what you find, and the battles will help your party grow stronger and richer.

- Remember to keep large amounts of money in the Storage. That way, if you die,
you won't lose half your gold.

- If possible, whenever entering a new area, try out a fight or two. If your
Hero takes more than 10 HP damage and you've got the best armor you can buy, you
need to build up levels.

- Try to keep your party's HP levels at decent. If they drop too low and you
encounter a stronger enemy, you're mincemeat.

//_Secrets and Rumors_//

[[Magus/Evil Clown/Bolt Wand/Staff of Thunder]]

Due to the mass cheating most people were doing on DW II for NES, Enix saw fit
to take this cheat
out of the game. On NES, the Evil Clown was in the dungeon of Lorasia Castle.
As long as you had
the Jailer's Key and the Silver Key, you could go in, defeat him, get the Staff
of Thunder
and sell it for 19,500 G, save the game with the King and select "No" when he
asks you to continue,
reset the NES, restart your quest, go back, and the Evil Clown would be there
once again. You could
repeat this until you got the max GP of 65,535, and on NES there were no banks
:-(.
On the Gameboy Color, the Evil Clown is now called Magus, and once you get the
wand once, you can't get it again. A very disappointing turn of events.
However....
There ARE Evil Clowns in the game elsewhere, especially in the Ocean Cave where
you get the EvlStatue
and in the Cave to Rhone. Could it be possible that you could find the BoltWand
again, after selling it?
Hmm.

[[Treasure]]

On NES, people said that you could sell the Treasure for 1 GP, and then go back
and get it again.
I think I recall that you couldn't sell the Treasure...however, some people are
asking, "what happens
if you do sell the Treasure?" I couldn't answer, because of the fact that I
never bothered trying.
Someone test this out maybe?

[[Dew Yarn]]

On a message board, someone once said you could get multiple Dew Yarns and make
two Water Robes.
As far as I understood it, only the Princess could equip that armor; yet, the
person claimed over
and over that the Prince could too. Anyone verify this one or dispute it?

[[SlotToken]]

IF you're really into the Slots, you can earn a lot of them from MagicAnts,
found in the North
Drakhorn Tower.

[[Wizard Rings]]

You can win Wizard Rings from Goopi, found south of the Cave to Rhone and all
along the nearby
village. ( I forget its name, but I think it's Wellgarth?)

[[DW II and III Experience Maneuver]]

This is a trick handed down to me by my father. LOL, it's true...If it weren't
for him I would
never have even heard of the sequels to the Dragon Warrior series; he used to
send them back to me
from overseas, so I got them like two weeks early. When he came back, he showed
me the trick on
DW III and I fell in love...
Anyway....
Everytime the Goopi is outnumbered, it will call on more Goopi to assist them.
These Goopi give
a reasonable amount of experience (and gold) apiece. Well, if you keep one
Goopi alive, and let it
call a friend, and then kill the friend, and repeat this pattern, you'll rack up
more and more
experience and gold each time. It works better on DW III, because they won't
just call Goopi,
They'll call a Titan, which gives you about 3000 Exp points apiece! But it
still works good on
DW II. If you do this for awhile, you'll really rack in the points.

- Some people are mistaking the Dragon Potion with the Field Log. They're -NOT-
the same. If
you get your hands on a Dragon Potion (from Metabbles or Metalys) and you use
it, it has the same
effect as saving at a King. Rumor has it that it is Loto's voice speaking to
you, but I have not
gotten one to confirm it. When you save using the Dragon Potion, you WILL
restart at the same
location you saved at, similar to saving at a King. If you save using a Field
Log, you DO NOT
always start where you saved.

- Chiong says that you can use the cursed armor and weapons in the final
dungeon. This is in
reference to a strategy guide for the NES version that said that evil weaponry
in an evil place
acted as normal, without the curse. If anyone can verify this, please let me
know.

If anyone has any other tricks or secrets they'd like to share, please email
them to me asap.

//_New Features_//

- You can't cheat with the Evil Clown maneuver. Once you get the one BoltWand,
you'd better
keep it if you want the Princess to have her strongest weapon. If you sell it,
she'll have to
settle for a Wizard Wand.

- The Prince can now equip the Sword of Loto!  This isn't his strongest weapon;
however, at that
point of the game, it will be one of the strongest for him.

- The Prince falls ill at the Inn of Beran. I vaguely remember this on the NES
version; however,
I may be mistaken. If anyone knows whether this also happened on the NES
version, let me know.

- I might be mistaken here, too, but I could have sworn that the Dew Yarn was in
a different place.
Does anyone know if that's right?

- You can save anywhere. That's right...but there's a catch. (HA HA!)
If you save with the King, you can restart at the King. You also keep the
quest. If you save
anywhere else, say a cave or a town entrance, you'll restart where you
saved...BUT...you don't
keep the quest. So let's say you save in the Cave to Rhone, near the exit,
because you have to
go and eat. Then, you come back and restart the Field Log (that's what it's
called) but your
batteries run out. Guess what? When you get new batteries and restart your
game, you'll be back
at whatever King you saved to prior to the Field Log. That's right. The Field
Log is a temporary
save. It allows you to instantly save in case you can't get back to the King in
time. It can be
good or bad, depending on how you use it. Also, if you Field Log in a cave,
you'll restart at
the last set of steps you took. This means you still have to walk the floor
again.

- The levels and statistics for your people have been greatly increased. You
may notice that the
Princess' HP and MP are drastically higher than they were on the NES version (if
you played it,
you'll know what I'm talking about). This is probably because of the Princess
always getting
beat up on the NES version with no remorse. This allows her to match up skill
as well; remember,
she's also a descendant of Erdrick.

Let me know if you stumble across any other new features.
