---------------------< I. Intro & v.History >-------------------------------
=============================================================================

Welcome to the ULTIMATE GameBoy MK3 FAQ! If you were looking for info
on MK3 for GameBoy, you've come to the right place. This FAQ includes almost
every possible thing in this game. And, If you want some ASCII art for a FAQ
that I havent done or am going to do, I would be happy to do it, as long as
I'm credited. If youre plotting to steal this FAQ, then please look into the
"Legal" section. I hope this FAQ helps you.

                        - These are the words of OmnipotentGuy

---------< Version History >-----------------------------------------------

v1.2 ~ 08.17.01
Moved v.History to top, corrected a typo, and changed some format.

v1.1 ~ 07.29.01
Improved ASCII art, fixed spacing problems, added "Introduction"

v1.0 ~ 07.19.01
This FAQ was created back in '96 and has gone through some pretty
radical changes. Since this is a new format and first ever released to the
public, I feel it should be called version 1.0.

- On the Game Boy version; Fatalities can be performed anywhere, except
Kabal's and Smoke's. Kabal's is performed in close range. Smoke's cannot be
performed at the very back of the screen.

- Some of the moves are hard to perform and require you to do them over and
over again fast to perform them. These are: Sonya's Leg Throw, Bicycle
Kick, Sub-Zero's Slide, and Cyrax's Air Throw.

- To perform Babalities, you cannot press Punch in the final round. If you
do, you won't be able to perform it

- If you cant execute a move, you are probably not ROTATING the D-pad, or are
not pressing buttons at the same time when theres a "+" sign

you have enabled Smoke, he will still be there.

Random Select: At the Character Select Screen, highlight Sindel and press Up
+ Start. The game will then randomly select a character for
you. (it won't ever pick Smoke)

Fill in the * on the Tower modifier with how high you want to start.

---------< Glitches >------------------------------------------------------

      Cyrax Fatality Glitch:
Beat your opponent using Cyrax and get a "Flawless Victory" Throw a Bomb at
your opponent and IMMEDIATELY do your Fatality. You with shred them, but the
game keeps going on. You can then jump around, and practice your moves as
long as you don't hit your opponent's shreds. You can also end it by doing a
Babality that counts as a Fatality!

Walk On The Bottom Of The Screen:
When playing as Sektor or Smoke, if your opponent throws a projectile at you,
quickly do your Teleport Uppercut. If you connect with the projectile when
you are touching the bottom of the screen, you will be knocked out of it and
will be walking on the bottom of the screen! Just jump to come back up to the
stage.

      Fatality Shao Kahn!:
Use a GameShark to play as Shao Khan. Next, you might want to disable the
throws to make it easier. (If you don't and you get thrown, the game freezes)
Now just lose to an opponent and if you are lucky, they will do their
fatality on you!! Look out though, sometimes it doesn't work and the game
freezes.

=============================================================================

            Kano:
"When Kahn let Kano live, it was a grave error. Kano destroys his army
using a stolen weapon and finally defeats Kahn himself. His real aim was to
take over the souls captured by Kahn, but he is unable to control them and
suffers a violent death."

            Sonya:
"Sonya defeats her arch-enemy Kano and then faces Shao Kahn himself.
After an incredible display of courage, Sonya wins. When the world returns to

protecting the earth from future invasions."

            Sektor:
"After terminating Sub-Zero, Sector is attacked by outworld warriors.
They are no match for Sektor, who fights his way into the fortress. The
portal is closed when Sektor initiates his self-destruct sequence. The Earth
returns to normal."

            Sindel:
"Sindel remembers her past and turns upon Shao Kahn. Kahn had used
Sindel as a pawn. In defeating Kahn, Sindel frees both the Earth and her
realm Edenia. Thus now insuring a reunion with her daughter Kitana."

            Sub-Zero:

assassin is the elusive Smoke, an old ally before his automation. With the
help of Smoke he defeats Kahn, and once again disappears into the shadows."

            Sheeva:

arrive."

            Kabal:
"After returning from near death, Kabal swears revenge. When he defeats
the mighty Shao Kahn he proves he is truly the chosen one. Before Kabal lived
a life of crime. Now he devotes himself to fighting injustice."

=============================================================================
---------------------< IX. Explanations >----------------------------------
=============================================================================

        -< Friendships and Mercies >-

The following were in the Hex codes:
 "DRAW.. WINS.. WINS.GAME OVER.FLAWLESS VICTORY.FATALITY.OUT OF TIME.
FINISH HIM.FINISH HER.FRIENDSHIP.BABALITY.MERCY."

Mercies: On GameGenie enter: 124-C2A-E6E DCA-C5E-456 A7E-6DD-C4B. Every time
you throw a projectile (fireball, or iceball, or whatever), it starts the
round over again, but everyone has the same amount of life left. You have to
do this at least 2 times each round. You have to play for 3 rounds (but
sometimes only once) and not press Block. When it says finish Him/Her throw
another projectile and hit your opponent twice more to kill them. If you did
it correctly it should say " *Fighters name* won", "Mercy" Then your opponent
comes back to life. (This doesn't work on Sonya.)

Friendship: One time I was fooling around with my GameGenie and found the
code to activate friendships. But I accidentally took out the cartridge! All
it did was say friendship when I won. I think they took out the animations,
or didn't do them at all.

---------< Changes in GameBoy version >------------------------------------

Lost Fighters: Jax, Kung Lao, Stryker, Liu Kang, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung,
               Motaro and Noob Saibot.

Modified Moves:
Kano: Doesn't have Grab and Shake
Sindel: Doesn't have Air Fireball... probably does though since she can do
          her Float...
Sub-Zero: Doesn't have Close or Far Ice Showers and Ice Clone
Kabal: Can't shoot Fireball in air
Smoke: Doesn't have Spear anymore (no info about Air Throw)
Shao Kahn: Doesn't have Shoulder Charge, only the Nee Charge, got Motaro's
Lift and Smack, and is NOT playable in the GameBoy version unless you use a
GameShark or maybe GameGenie.

Stages w/ Fighters:
  The Pit3 (Kano & Sheeva)
  Subway (Sektor & Cyrax)
  Street (Sonya & Kabal)
  Balcony (Sindel only)
Bell Tower (Shao Kahn & Sub-Zero)

Every other move not confirmed is probably not in there, but theres
still a chance. Things like Cyrax's Teleport have been confirmed by seeing
the game perform it, but then, the game never does Sindels Float, but it's
still in there. Mortal Kombat 3 for GameBoy also probably does not have any
sort of stage Fatality like MKII. It also doesn't have Mercies, Friendships,
or Animalities unless you find the mercy or friendship codes with GameGenie
or GameShark. I've been told that sometimes the fighters come back to
life... mercy?? Um, and if you want this game; only buy MKII; 1, 3 and 4
suck HARD!.. well, if you get bored of MKII, 3 is second best.

Paul Courtney (me): I found nearly everything in this FAQ. That includes the
Cyrax glitch, the code for Mercys, the Friendship thing, Shao Kahn's
moves, the GameShark mimic code and more!! I tried to include everything I
knew and could find. I also know a lot about emulation, that sort of helps to
find secrets. The ASCII art is also by me.

John Evens (SStarmie): I borrowed a little of the layout from his FAQ. He
said that was cool with him. He has some good FAQs for fighting games.
You should check them out.

The Internet: for roms, emulators, and hex editors. I love technology!
