The Alien Adoption Agency is a great, unique game. Unlike most games you know
of, however, the Alien Adoption Agency isn't virtual. It's not like the
Playstation or the Nintendo, it's ALL WORDS and small pictures. Weird? No,
not weird! Stupid? Not stupid either. Great? Exactly. Someone's first
impression would be that this game is truly boring, because it's all in
wording, and you won't want to waste your time playing a game with words.
Wrong. This game is truly addictive, and it has attracted over 10,000 gamers
all over the world.

The main "storyline"...well, there really isn't a storyline...is that you are
someone adopting an alien. To win big, you have to deal with life; get a job,
fight fights, and sometimes eat some of the occasional food. The main setting
is Georgetown, a made-up city, and it is lined with many different shops,
stores, businesses, churches, and residential area. When you are born, you are
somewhat weak, but you are still capable of doing many things, including buying
things (given that you have the amount of money you need), fishing, and even
gambling!

The first seven days of alien life are critical. In those seven days, you are
to young to fight, so you are safe from anyone, allowing you to explore a lot.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This FAQ/Walkthrough only guides you through the first seven
days of alien life, and intended for beginners. So, if you are a veteran user
of Alien Adoption Agency, this might have no use for you!

If you'd like to see how the Alien Adoption Agency reviewed itself, I have it
right here, in quotes:

*NOTE: This is taken from the AAA website, at
http://www.web-docent.com/about.html*

"What is the Alien Adoption Agency (AAA)? The most obvious answer is an online
battle simulation, with RPGish subsections. To the uninitiated that's quite a
mouthful, so here's a more detailed explanation.
What?
Simply put, a role playing game (RPG) is a game where you take on the role of a
particular character, and guide them as they improve and learn inside a
simulated world. The term goes back to even before the first Dungeons and
Dragons game. Any game with a storyline and character development could be
considered a role-playing game.

As for battle simulations, they are games where combat is mimicked using a
series of calculations. These calculations are based off of random (rolls of a
virtual die) and set (weapon strength, your alien's personal ratings in various
attributes) numbers that change and grow over time. Your alien starts out
relatively weak and unequipped; it is your responsibility to train and supply
them with items, weapons, and armor.

The simple goal of the AAA is to be the best. The strongest, fastest, richest
alien around. This is accomplished through hard work, well planned battles,
success with the mini games and just a smattering of luck.

Mini games?
The AAA is basically a battle game, but there are tons of subs games that can
be played for fun and profit. There is a fully functional casino where one can
gamble, a fishing pond that plays just like a fishing sim, a stock market, and
many other hidden games, making the AAA one of the most detailed web-based
worlds around.

Constant growth
Always a work in progress, new sections are being added all the time. In a
single player's lifecycle, hundreds of new features and sections get added. One
of the great parts about participating in the AAA is that if you ever were to
get bored and leave for a few months, you could return to a totally different
and larger game. This fact explains why most players who have chosen to leave
return at a later date.

More than just a game
To your average AAA player though, it's more than just a game; it's an online
community. Every day, over 50,000 players log in and use the AAA, for gaming as
well as communication. Through chat rooms, message boards and our own version
of email (QuickPosts), players make new friends and keep in touch with old
ones.

Ad supported
The ads running on top of and alongside the game window, although considered an
irritation by some, offset the cost of development, hosting and maintenance of
the game, as well as the designers' Porsche and yacht respectively.

A lot of time and effort has gone into the creation of the AAA, and we hope you
enjoy it."

Choosing your alien is important, because it's what's going to start it all!
First off, when signing up, you'll have to provide your email address, and some
other information. Your sign-up sheet should look something like this:

*****************************************************************************
ABOUT YOUR ALIEN:
                __________________
Alien's Name: |__________________|
                __________________
Alien's Color: |_______________|\/|

Password: |_____________|
                  ________________
Referal Address: |________________|

*****************************************************************************

NOTE: Do you see where it says "Referal Address" ? That's where you put the
email address of the person who told you about this. Of course, it's always
optional, but if you'd like to fill it in, you can put in my email address
(Cocacola6787@hotmail.com)!

You can choose from 31 colors for your alien. The alien colors are: "Old School
Green," "Ugly Purple," "Sea Blue," "Ghost White," "Golden Yellow,"
"Orange...Orange," "Angry Red," "Stone Cold Alien," "Sniper," "Spike Fuchsia,"
"Lil tyke," "The Blob," "Camouflage," "Shrink-wrapped," "Stone-Cut,"
"Switchback," "Marshmallow," "Mantis," "Deep," "Neon Shock," "Purple Haze,"
"Invert," "Violet Petal," "Biggie Big," "Sketch," "Chaos Lava," "State Priest,"
"Aquatic One," "Checkers," "Forester," and finally, "Copper One." My alien's
color is Chaos Lava, and it looks pretty cool. But you can be the judge of
that.

Your Alien's Name can have any character, using numbers, letters, spaces, and
others. Make sure that you type in your email address correctly, because it
must be a valid address. If it's not valid, the email won't be sent, and you
won't be able to adopt your alien.

Georgetown, the town that your alien lives in, is divided into six districts:
Downtown, Government District, Red-Light District, Residential District,
Shopping District, and Town Gate.

1)Downtown:
Downtown is a business area of Georgetown. It consists of:

The Church of Davidian Light - The church is a wonderful place to pray, make a
donation, and get married. Keep donating and praying, and you're alignment will
become "Good". If you want to get married, you must have to be a Level 25 to
propose, or a level 15 to accept.
Georgetown Gym - Don't you get tired of being beat to a pulp by
older/stronger/tougher aliens? In the gym, you can eat healthy, breath deeply
in Yoga, or grow those biceps by lifting weights. In order to enter the gym,
you must have a gym membership.
Georgetown Hospital - The town hospital is the place to go to heal your battle
wounds. Click away, and you're healed! Just make sure you have enough credits
to be treated, though.
Bank of Webby - In the town bank, you can withdraw, or Deposit credits into
your account. You can also transfer some of your credits to another player's
account, that is, if you're nice. Once you reach level 5, you can also take a
loan.
Employment Agency - You must be atleast a level 4 to sign up with the
employment agency. They find jobs for you, but until then, they'll pay you 26
credits and one mark each day...just for waiting!
Hall of Guilds - Guilds are important factors in battling. A guild can provide
you with necessary items, such as weapons, and occasionally, maybe some
credits. Each guild has many members, some of them with jobs.
Member Profile - This is just a little thing that's optional. It's a little
profile you can fill out to let other members know who you are, etc.
Stock exchange - Just like in real life, the stock exchange allows aliens to
trade stocks, making profits as they do so! This is a great way to make money,
but be warned: Like in real life, each stock has it's ups and downs. Choose
which stock you want to invest wisely.

2)Government District:

The Goverment District is where...well, where the government stuff happens.
Right. It consists of:

Awards Hall - The Awards Hall shows aliens that have accomplished things,
whether good or bad. You can find out who's rich, great in battle, a good
battler, or a bad trader, plus other stuff.
Executioner's Hall - These gallows aren't that dangerous, don't worry: the
executioner there likes a good game of hangman, so expect playing it when
arriving there. Note: It costs 5 credits to play hangman, and if you win, you
can double that money. It's a good source of money, but it's not a good way to
make a living.
Records Hall - Just like your city's Records Hall. Come here to change your
password, your Alien's name, get a divorce, etc, but be warned: it costs 100
credits.
Town Hall - Hehe, a great feature indeed, and original. Basically, it's a Java
Chat, but they renamed it Town Hall....get it? HAHAHAHAHA.....ugh.
Voting Booth - The voting booth is a poll that differs almost every day. The
topics can be various things, usually things for the other aliens.

3)Red-Light District:

The Red-Light District is like the typical part of the city you see in those
action films; Batman, Dick Tracy, blah blah blah. Call it the bad-part of town,
if you will. It consists of:

Helga's House of Voodoo - What a witch. Okay, not a witch, but some old ladie
who believes in voodoo and related ilk. If you want a mystical laugh, come here
to get fake fortune telling and other stuff.
Private Eye - What town is complete without a detective? Pay this chap 1000
credits, and he'll dig up all the dirt you want on any alien.
Casino - Wow. A place to make quick creds, yet very addictive. I'm sure you'll
find fun in this place, as you gamble in games such as Blackjack, Dice Poker,
and much more. Goto the token exchange to exchange your credits for casino
tokens; or exchange your newly won tokens with credits.
House of Odds - This is the place to get the Official Lottery Tickets! each
lottery ticket is 1 credit, and, who knows? You can win a big jackpot, which
can be usefull!
Shady House - I call this place the "Mafia House". It's an underground sales
storm.....if I tell you anymore, I'd have to get Fat Tony and Brisco to beat
you up in the alley.

4)Residential District:

Your home! Your neighbors! Places to see, places to go! This district consists
of:

Housing Complex - Here is an apratment, filled with 100 rooms. Explore each
room, especially if you like stamps...
Fishing Hut - Wow! This place is awesome, and very interactive. You can fish,
buy fishing supplies, ride a boat, and do many other things. This place is
worth a check, but first, get a fishing liscense, available from the fisherman.
Your House - An important place indeed. Come here to save your core and check
out your stats.
Post Office - This is the place to send Quickposts (QP) with other aliens.
It's just like email, except it's simpler, and easy to find. A good place to
chat or look for help.
Stamp Shop - Here is a place to rest, drink some cocoa......and give help.
Check it out yourself, I don't want ruin any spoilers...
Webby University - Georgetown's finest school, providing you with much
information, education, and cigarettes! Expect wise-cracks from your mean
teachers, and no respect from the receptionist.

5)Shopping District:

Ah, the shopping district. One of the best places to hang out. The stores
consist of:

Jeweler - Georgetown's only jeweler, you can buy a wedding ring here, and find
other nifty things to do with jewelry.
Stan's Boutique - The clothes shop of Georgetown, you can find great hats
here, shoes, and other articles of clothing so that you're alien can blend in
with the cool crowd.
General Store - This one of my favorite stores, because it is a valuable
factor to your life. Go here, and buy weapons and armor, potions, and more. You
can even fix up your worn out stuff, or sell it, too.
Dark House of Pancakes - This is one of the best places to eat pancakes -
sadly, it's only a scam. This pancake house is a secret lair of an evil church;
pray here if you want a "Bad" alignment.
Solarium - A place to buy trading cards. Find some cards, and it will open new
features of the game. Try finding all the missing cards, and you'll be rewarded
kindly.

6)Town Gate:

The Town Gate; a place to leave Georgetown. But WHY would you want to leave?
Heh heh, just kidding, you'll have to comeback eventually anyways. It consists
of:

Leave Town - Walk into the next town, Cranstown
Trading Post - Anything to do with trading goes here. You can fill out an
alien's trading reputation, or you can make a secure trade so that you can
trade things safely, or you can see the items that another player has.
Traveling Agency - You can view a colored map of Georgetown here. You can also
buy a compass, too...that is, if you have one million credits with you.

NOTE: In your house, you can view your core. More on the core will be covered
later.

As of now, you are financially in good condition, with 150 credits on hand.

Investing:

An important factor in playing this game is to learn how to use money!
Throughout the whole game, you will have to use money every now and then, no
matter if you try not to spend money. Your alien will need to find ways to make
money as well, so I suggest investing a portion of your money and gambling.

***************************
-Stocks:

It's time to buy stocks! Find "Downtown" on the Georgetown main page. You
should see something like this:

-----------------------------------
Buy a new stock:
        _____ ____
Symbol:|_____| Shares: |____|
                 _______

Choice 1)Newspaper
Choice 2)Past Transactions
----------------------------------|

Click on Choice 1). You'll see a whole lot of stocks symbols, and each one is
clickable. If you happen to see a stock that is under 20 credits, but one share
of it. One share may be little, but it's only for the meantime. Press "Back",
which is located on the bottom of the page, and you'll arrive at the main town
page. Go back to the "Stock exchange", and again, you'll see the sequence which
is shown ^above^.

In "Symbol", write down the desired stock that you found in Choice 1), and in
"Shares", type "1". That means, you are buying ONE share of that stock that you
wrote in "Symbol". When you are finished, click "Process." Once you click it,
you will be shown the same ^sequence^, but this time, it will show you the
stocks you've bought. Take a look at it, then leave.

-Gambling:

All work and no play? BORING! Hang out at the casino, which is located in the
Red-Light District. Click it, and you'll be shown this sequence:

"Welcome to the Georgetown Casino, where the class and style of Monte Carlo
combines with the very grandest that Vegas has to offer to bring you the
hottest wagering action in the fastest-playing casino games around. Or
something like that."

Go where?

Choice 1)Black Jack Tables
Choice 2)Slot Machines
Choice 3)Keno
Choice 4)Dice Poker
Choice 5)Token Exchange

You have 20 casino tokens.
----------------------------------|

Choose Choice 1), since it is the easiest game there. Don't know how to play
Blackjack? No problem.

*******************
How to play Blackjack: the aim of Blackjack is simple. You have to get a
blackjack, which is a 21. To get 21, you must get cards that total to 21.
Example: 2 of hearts equals 2, 3 of diamonds equals 3, etc. The Ace can either
be a 10 or 1. The King, Queen, and Jack are equal to ten. You always play
against the dealer. The dealer will deal both of you 2 cards, but he will keep
one card of his face down. You have to choose if you want to get hit (get drawn
another card), stand (stay the way you are), double (hit, but double your ante)
or surrender (stand, but keep your money, depending on the dealer's face down
card). Whoever reaches 21, or gets the closest to it wins. If you get any
number over 21, you lose automatically.
******************

STRATEGIES: Once you come upon a total of 12, think wisely. The computer, being
smart, can always hit you a ten, if you choose hit, and you'll end up busting.

Once you've made tokens, exchange some of the tokens with credits at the token
exchange. After collecting the money, leave.

-Fishing:

Hey, it's time to fish! Fishing is America's past time - it might as well be
Georgetown's passtime too, right? Fishing is a great way to make quick creds,
provided that you have the right equipment and skills.

First off, to do anything related to fishing, you have to get a fishing
liscense. You can obtain a fishing liscense from the fisherman, whom will be on
the main page of the fishing docks. The fishing liscense, however, will cost
you 100 credits. So you may not want to purchase it on your first day.

IMPORTANT: Please think twice when buying fishing supplies. Make sure you get
the basic stuff, and not anything that sounds cool or something you think will
do you good. The basic supplies are something to hold the fish in; a rod to
catch the fish with; a hook for the rod; and bait. Since you are very young,
you should buy the cheapest out of these supplies.

Once you have all your supplies, goto the main fishing docks screen. You'll get
the following sequence:
----------------------------------
Fisherman:
"Hey [alien's name here]! [gives you information on how the fish are acting
today here]."

Fisherman:
"So, what can I do for you today?"

Choice 1)Weather Report/Advice
Choice 2)I want to look at my logbook
Choice 3)Let's do a supply check
Choice 4)Sell me supplies, I need bait and such
Choice 5)I've got fish weighing me down, Fish Mart, here I come!
Choice 6)I'm off to the riverbank to fish!
Choice 7)I'd like to buy a boat
Choice 8)Talk Fish Talk
-----------------------------------|

If you choose Choice 1), you'll get a weather forecast, the current
temparature, and the wind speed. The fisherman will also give you fishing tips.

If you choose Choice 2), you will see your logbook. Your logbook tells you your
fishing history - when have you caught a fish, what kind of fish you caught,
etc.

Choosing Choice 3) will show your inventory. Your inventory consists of your
fishing supplies.

If you click Choice 4), you'll get the following sequence:

-----------------------------------

Choosing choice 5) will bring you to the Fish Mart. You'll meet the Fisherman's
son, and you can sell him the fish you've caught for a reasonable price.

Choice 6) is the choice you'd want to be going at first off. You're brought to
the docks and you're all set to fish! Once you click Choice 6), you'll be shown
the following sequence:

           _____
          |Fish!| Choice a)View Logbook

-------------------------------|
Ah, the beauty of fishing!

Your rods -
Your hooks - Remember, small fish can't grab big hooks and big fish can break
small hooks; choose your hooks wisely.
Your bait - Like us aliens, fish have different tastes! However, be careful;
if your bait is too tasty, a quick fish will speed by, eat it, and escape.

Clicking on Choice a) will bring you to your logbook.

Do you see that large square to the right? That's your coordinates for the
fishing dock. The holes on the left are where you want to sit. The holes to the
top are where you want you're rod to be cast. Of course, a small/medium rod
won't be able to cast as far as a large/casting rod.

Once you have chosen your supplies and mapped out your coordinates, press
"Fish". If you're lucky, you'll catch a fish. Once you catch a fish, you can
either go to the market right away, of keep fishing and get more of them!

Choosing Choice 7), "I'd like to buy a boat," will obviously buy you a boat.
However, the money is too expensive for a new user, so you can probably wait it
out. Boats are good for fishing, because you can get closer to them, instead of
buying a large rod and casting it from far away. A good thing to buy indeed,
but like i said before, wait it out until you make enough money.

Choice 8) is very creative. Just like the Town Hall, you enter a chat room,
where you can talk about fish. So it's "Fish Talk," get it? Hehehehe....ugh.

Saving you core!

NOTE: Saving your core is very important!

Your core is kind of like a back-up disk of your alien. In the event that the
Alien Adoption Agency's server happens to go down, you can email your core, and
your alien will be restored.

How to save your core:
1)Go to your house. Here's a diagram of what the page of your home should look
like:

Okay, so maybe the page isn't THAT wide and short, but the only thing that's
important is the words.

Do you see where it says "Your character core here."? Click on it, and select
it all by right clicking it, and select "Select All". Then, right click it
again, and select "Copy.

Now open up your word processor (Notepad, Microsoft Word, etc.) and copy it
all down. Then, go back to your core web page. Do you see where it says "Your
Checksum Here"? Copy that too, and copy it down far away from your core. Label
each one, respectively. It should look like this:

Core:
Blah, blah core
goes here.

Checksum:
Checksum here

Congratulations! You've saved your core! IMPORTANT: I recommend you save your
core daily, because, hey, you never know, something can get messed up.

                   ********************************************

Congratulations, you have completed my walkthrough! You're probably thinking,
"What?". Well remember what I said, this walkthrough only focuses on your
critical first seven days. Remember, the main idea is to keep making money, and
on the eighth day (the day you first battle), you'll be fresh, you'll have a
good fight, and you'll be a rich Level 1!

Good luck!
