Hello there. This is my first FAQ. I decided to write this up because
when I came by to look for some Future Cop guides, and I noticed there
was only a guide to the Crime War missions. I thought that there
should be a guide to the Precinct Assault part of the game. After all,
it's my favourite mode and all! Enjoy!

What Is Precinct Assault?
-------------------------

Precinct Assault is a unique game mode in Future Cop. It is you, the
Red team, pitted against the Blue team. The Blue team is either
controlled by Sky Captain(computer opponent), or a human opponent. The
object of the game is to get one of your tanks into your opponent's
base. It's not as easy as it sounds. You need points to build tanks.
To get points, you need to claim neutral turrets, destroy enemy
controlled turrets, and destroy enemy units, as well as your opponent.
If you kill your opponent (eg Sky Captain or the other player), you get
10 points. With points you can also build planes, which protect your
base from attackers. With 30 points, you can claim and outpost.
Outposts are like a second base. You can build planes and tanks which
attack your opponents base, but they cost more.

-----
Units
-----

Tank(1 point): The basic unit. These are drones which when built just
go straight for your opponent's base with no intelligence. They are
easily destroyed. You need them to win, however. They cost 2 points
if built at an outpost.

Planes(1 point): When built, they will patrol the area of your base and
protect your base from attackers. They are also very easy to destroy
but very important. They also cost 2 points at an outpost. If built
at an outpost, planes will attack your opponent's base instead of
defending yours.

Dreadnought(50 points): A well armored and better tank. These are
expensive, but can be effective if defended properly. They can take a
LOT of punishment before going down. Cannot be built from outposts.

Flying Fortress(50 points): The equivalent of a Dreadnought in planes.
Very powerful with homing missiles and strong armor. A useful
investment in longer games. Cannot be built from outposts.

-------
Weapons
-------

Guns/X Button Weapons:

Powered Mini Gun: A low firepower machine gun with a good fire rate.
It will work fine in games of low difficulty. Actually not a half bad
weapon. There is better out there, though.

Flamethrower: More powerful than the Mini Gun, but a much shorter
range. The power is good, but I prefer the Mini Gun's range.

Gatling Laser: Pretty much an upgrade to the Mini Gun. Quite effective
and powerful.

Electric Gun: Shoots an electrical current at your opponent. Extremely
powerful with a good range. My personal favourite along with the Riot
Shield.

Riot Shield: This is a secret weapon, however it is the most powerful
Gun weapon. Press square to activate the shield. It makes a small
field around your walker's body. When you get near an enemy unit, it
deals massive damage to your opponent. As I said, the most powerful
weapon in this class. However, the HUGE drawback is the tiny range,
but if you are quick you can use this weapon very effectively. Another
personal favourite of mine.

Heavy/Square Button weapons

Hellfire2000 Missiles: Weak, slow moving missiles. Takes many hits to
take anything down. Avoid if possible.

Concussion Beam: Great weapon! Fast, and powerful! Just has trouble
hitting some fast moving targets.

HyperVelocity Rockets: Another solid weapon. Shoots either one or
three rockets. Not as fast as the Concussion Beam, and they don't seem
quite as powerful.

K-9 Robo Dog: Secret Weapon. Fires an insanely slow homing missile at
your opponent. I find this gun to be much too slow to be of much
effectiveness.

Special/Circle Button Weapons

Mortar Launcher: I like this one! It lobs a mortar high into the air,
landing on it's target. Quite powerful, but basically useless against
moving targets. Effective on turrets.

Bounce Mines: The WORST weapon in the game. Hands down. Just drops a
mine which explodes and is weak. Only effective on little tanks which
you could just blast away at anyhow. DON'T USE THIS WEAPON!

Shockwave Generator: A strong weapon. Releases a strong energy wave
out of you in a small diameter. Very powerful, but like the Riot
Shield, has a very limited range.

Grenade Launcher: Secret Weapon. The weapon of kings! Like the
Mortar, it launches a grenade into the air, landing on it's target. It
doesn't work to well on moving targets, but who cares? It destroys
turrets in one shot! If you have it available, you must use this
weapon.

------
Levels
------

Urban Jungle(Training Level): My personal favourite level. A
simplistic design but there's room for strategy. The center area is
key here. The items are here. "He who controls the center, controls
the game". Well, generally they do. Anyhow, try and get an outpost or
two claimed by your opponent's base. Then send in the planes and
tanks!

Venice Beach: A good level. Plenty of variety. Items are located in
the very center of the level. Bases here can be difficult to attack
because they have excellent natural protection with bridges. Note that
if you fall into the green sludge type stuff, you will automatically
turn into a hovercraft.

Hollywood Keys: My second favourite level. Everything is bit high
tech. Note that if you are in the middle, the floor will have blue and
red dots, and if you are near the red base, there will be only red
dots. Same thing applies with blue. This can be helpful navigating
this kind of confusing level. Items in the middle, yadayada. I like
the futuristic look and the outpost locations.

Proving Ground: I'm not a big fan of this level, but it is decent. It
almost looks Mad Max-esque. Items are at the bottom floor in the
middle of the level. A lot of bridges to navigate, so being a
hovercraft may not be the greatest idea.

Strategies for playing against Sky Captain
------------------------------------------

Sky Captain is the A.I. opponent in Precinct Assault. He is rather
easy at first, but he soon gets very difficult to defeat. Sky Captain
is a flying machine, and he can make units wherever he wants(he doesn't
have to go back to his base). He also has homing missiles. At higher
difficulty, he starts to get smarter. He builds outposts and doesn't
get killed so often. The best thing to do playing him is to build 10
planes at the beginning of the game, and then collect 30 points as
quick as possible to build an outpost. When you get more points, send
in planes to harass him. Destroy base turrets to rack up points and
continue building attack planes, until his defense his very weak. Then
you can send in tanks. Escort them in and make sure to destroy all
base turrets. At higher difficulty, the longer the game is, generally
the lesser the chance you will win. Try to end it early.

-----------------------------
Playing against another human
-----------------------------

It's a bit harder to recommend strategies against human players,
because they can have many strategies themselves. The strategy for Sky
Captain I gave can be quite effective. I recommend building a Flying
Fortress in two player games. They provide incredibly good defense
against human players. Their homing missiles are great and they last a
LONG time. Another strategy that may work is building a Dreadnought
while sending in attack planes. If you escort and defend the
Dreadnought well, this can also work effectively.
