-= 3. Story -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

In the center of the vast universe, a remarkably bright star was born. It was a
star that is born only once in a thousand years, the Millenium Star. According
to legend, whoever possessed this mystical star was destined to become the
Superstar of the universe. However, since the Millenium Star was but a newborn,
it fell from the starry sky.

Around that time, Mario and his friends were all happily relaxing when suddenly
the Millenium Star came crashing down. Mario and his friends soon began arguing
about who should keep the Millenium Star.

Suddenly, the Millenium Star gave off a brilliantly bright flash of light. And
with that bright flash, Mario and his friends were transported inside a toy
box!

"Greetings. I am the Millenium Star. You must pass my test to prove yourself
worthy of possessing me. You must journey across many lands and collect the
Star Stamps. If you can collect all seven, I shall accept you as the top
Superstar in the universe."

Game Mode Information
=====================

Mario Party is divided into two different modes this time around: Story Mode
and Party Mode. In the Story Mode, there is some sort of story you're following
which involves playing on many game boards and trying to collect the most
Stars. After you go through the movie sequences that tell the story, you'll be
brought to the main game area. In Party Mode, you automatically get brought to
the main area. There are a few things you can do at that point:

Mushroom Castle: Here, you can enter either of the side rooms to listen to
sound tests. You can enter the middle room and talk to the
red or green Koopas to view some game records.

Party Map/Blue Star: Here, you play the regular 4-player boards. You must play
each one in order in Story Mode, but you can select any
one you want in Party Mode.

Mini-Game Room/Yellow Star: You cannot access this area while playing in Story
Mode. However, in Party Mode, you can go here and
play any mini-games you already revealed in the
                            game itself.

Duel Map/Red Star: Here, you and another character will play on a special
battle map, where you must use helpers to defeat the other
                   person and win.

Millenium Star: In Story Mode, select this silver star to hear about how
you're being "graded" when completing the boards. I don't
understand much more of this, so please e-mail me if you know
more that can be added here.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Pre-Game Settings
-----------------

Before you start Story Mode for the first time, there are a few settings you
must adjust before you play, including the player you wish to use (Waluigi and
Daisy are NOT accessible in Story Mode), the difficulty setting of the game,
and if you want all mini-games or just the easy ones. Those settings are kept
until you complete Story Mode or if you start a new file. Also, you play for 15
turns on each board in this mode.

Game Order
----------

Story Mode is a little different than the rest of the game because of the set
order you do things in. Here is the order in which you take on the regular
(also known as Battle Royal Maps), the Duel Maps, and which Star Stamp you win
and where:

Battle Map 1 - Chilly Waters
Duel Map 1 - Gate Guy (Wit Star Stamp)
Battle Map 2 - Deep Bloober Sea
Duel Board 2 - Arrowhead (Kindness Star Stamp)
Battle Map 3 - Spiny Desert
Duel Board 3 - Pipesqueak (Strength Star Stamp)
Battle Map 4 - Woody Woods
Duel Board 4 - Blowhard (Love Star Stamp)
Battle Map 5 - Creepy Cavern
Duel Board 5 - Mr. Mover
Daisy Duel Map - Backtrack
Waluigi Battle Board - Waluigi's Island
VS. Millennium Star

After you beat the first 5 regular/Duel boards, Daisy will appear and you'll
have to play her on the Backtracks Duel board. When you beat that, you will
then be challenged by Waluigi, and you'll play him on his regular game board,
known as Waluigi's Island. After you beat his board, the Millennium Star will
be floating in the air in the main area. Select it and you'll have to play
against it in a mini-game where you must defeat Millennium Star. Information on
this game will be at the end of the Mini-Games section of the guide. When you
beat that, you will have completed the entire Story Mode and the credits will
show.

-= 7. Items -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

There is a wide variety of items that you can obtain throughout the levels to
help you and/or harm others. You can buy most of these items from the Item
Shops run by Toad or Baby Bowser, get them as prizes in Item Games, or have
them given to you randomly when landing on an Item Space. Here, I'll list all
the items along with their prices if bought, who you can buy them from, and
what they do.

Mushroom
    Price: 5 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When used, you get to hit 2 dice blocks instead of one (for
that turn only) and the numbers on both blocks will combine
and that's how much you'll move. If you get the same number
on both blocks, you'll gain 20 Coins as an added prize.

Skeleton Key
    Price: 5 Coins
Buy From: Toad or Baby Bowser
Information: You can unlock locked doors in your path with this Key. It
disappears after you use it, though.

Cursed Mushroom
    Price: 5 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: When you use this, the character you used it on will only be
able to roll from 1 to 3 on the dice block when it's their
turn (only lasts for one turn though).

Reverse Mushroom
    Price: 5 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: When used, it makes the character used on move in the other
                 direction on their turn.

Cellular Shopper
    Price: 5 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When used, you can summon Toad or Baby Bowser and buy an item
                 from them on the spot.

Warp Block
    Price: 5 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When used, you trade places with a random character on the
                 board.

Plunder Chest
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: You can steal another character's item with this. You can
pick who to steal from, but you don't choose which of their
                 items you get.

Bowser Phone
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: When used, you can summon Bowser and send him after another
character. That person must then go through Bowser's roulette
                 and accept whatever happens.

Dueling Glove
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When used, you and the character of your choice must wager an
amount of Coins and play a Duel game to decide who wins them.

Lucky Lamp
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: When used, Mushroom Jeanie appears and causes the location of
Millennium Star to change, meaning that the star location on
the board will change to a random place.

Super Mushroom
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When used, 3 dice blocks appear for you to use. The amounts
on each will combine and that's how far you move.

Bowser Suit
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Baby Bowser
Information: When used, it outfits the character used on with a Bowser
suit. After they hit the dice block, whoever's in their path
                 gives you 20 Coins.

Boo Repellant
    Price: 10 Coins
    Buy From: Toad
Information: When you have this item, if anyone sends Boo after you to
steal Coins or Stars, this spray will scare it away.

Boo Bell
    Price: 15 Coins

    Buy From: Toad
Information: When you use this item, you can summon a genie to take you to
Millennium Star so you can buy a Star. It's recommended that
you have 20 Coins to spare before using this, or you'll just
                 be wasting this item.

Item Bag
    Price: 30 Coins
    Buy From: 30 Coins
Information: When you buy this item, you can get random items from it by
                 hitting it.

Koopa Card
    Price: Cannot be bought
Information: If you have this item, you'll automatically be able to take
all the Coins out of a Koopa Bank when you pass it on the
board. This item is EXTREMELY rare, and can only be gotten
                 from an Item Space.

Barter Box
    Price: Cannot be bought
Information: When you get this rare item, you can use it to trade all your
                 items for another player's items.

Lucky Charm
    Price: Cannot be bought
Information: Use this to make the Game Guy appear, then you can send him
to another player to play a Gambling mini-game. It's another
really rare, but sometimes useful, item.

                 game.

============
Regular Maps
============

Chilly Waters (Wit Star Stamp)
------------------------------

Blue Spaces: 52
Red Spaces: 12
Bowser Spaces: 6
"!" Spaces: 3
Battle Spaces: 6
Happening Spaces: 9
Item Spaces: 11
Koopa Bank Spaces: 2
Gambling Spaces: 2
Item Shops: 2

Action Event: If a character is on a space along the upper, left or right
sides of the board, and someone steps on a "?" Space, an Action
Event will start. A giant snowball will start rolling along the
north path and any characters in its way must jump or they'll be
pushed to the right side. The snowball will then roll along a
side path, and anyone who gets in its way will be sent to the
              end of the path.

Hazards: In the middle area of the board, it is very icy. From the center, you
will see several paths branching out with small hills dividing that
area from the rest of the board. If you get to that middle area and
choose a path, you'll have to go up the small hill to proceed. Most
of the time you do, but if you don't, you're stuck on the space
before the hill until your next turn.

Deep Bloober Sea
----------------

Blue Spaces: 44
Red Spaces: 4
Bowser Spaces: 5
"!" Spaces: 3
Battle Spaces: 5
Happening Spaces: 16
Item Spaces: 12
Koopa Bank Spaces: 2
Gambling Spaces: 2
Item Shops: 2

Action Event: At the upper-left section of the map, there are several
Happening Spaces lined up. There is a giant vacuum-type creature
sitting alongside that area. If you step on one of those spaces,
it'll start to suck you in, so press A repeatedly to avoid being
sucked in. If you can't escape, you'll be shot in whatever
direction the arrow on top of it was pointing towards.

Hazards: There is an intersection between two paths at the left side of the
board. When you try to pass, a shark will let you pass only if you
push a button on a panel. If you push the wrong button and pass, a
Bullet Bill will shoot you so you end up going down the opposite
path. If you aren't shot, then you just continue on the path you
want. Also, in between the two parallel middle paths sits a giant
Bloober. If you step on a Happening Space on either of those paths,
the Bloober will pull you to the other path, and vice versa.

Spiny Desert
------------

Blue Spaces: 56
Red Spaces: 6
Bowser Spaces: 5
"!" Spaces: 3
Battle Spaces: 6
Happening Spaces: 9
Item Spaces: 11
Koopa Bank Spaces: 2
Gambling Spaces: 2
Item Shops: 2

Action Event: Near the middle of this board, there is an intersection where
you can choose to either continue along the path, or go through
the desert. Going through the desert requires you to press A to
jump over the catcus in the way. If you don't jump, you'll be
sent all the way to the right side of the board.

Hazards: There are 2 sections of the board where the path goes in a circle
around a sand pit. There are also many Happening Spaces around it as
well. If you step on one, whoever is standing around that center area
will be sucked in and brought to the other circular area on the
         board.

Battle Board Maps
=================

Gate Guy
--------

Basic Spaces: 15
Mini-Game Spaces: 2
Power-Up Spaces: 1
Backwards Spaces: 4
Gambling Spaces: 2
Happening Spaces: 3

Information: There is a path going down through the middle of this board. Both
ends of it are guarded by gates, and you must pay 5 Coins if you
want to go down that path. Alongside that middle path sits a
bellboy, and each time you pass him, he'll count down from 5.
Once it reaches zero, both characters will play a Duel Game and
whoever wins will get 20 Coins.

Arrowhead
---------

Normal Spaces: 17
Mini-Game Spaces: 3
Power-Up Spaces: 2
Backwards Spaces: 2
Gambling Spaces: 2
Happening Spaces: 2

Information: There's nothing of real importance in this level. It's just a
basic and very straightforward board. In the middle area, the
bellboy is there and when he counts down to 0, you enter a Duel
Game with the opponent for a chance to win 20 Coins.

Pipesqueak
----------

Normal Spaces: 13
Mini-Game Spaces: 1
Power-Up Spaces: 1
Backwards Spaces: 4
Gambling Spaces: 2
Happening Spaces: 2

Information: At each of the 4 corners of this board, you are given the option
to continue on the path or jump into the pipe to get across to
another point on the board. Also, the bellboy is at the halfway
point on the bottom path, and you should know the drill on him by
             now.

-= 9. Duel/Battle Map Helpers Guide -=
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

In the special Duel Maps, you and one other player must battle each other using
helpers. Each character comes with a helper when you pick them, and each one
has its advantages and disadvantages. The only way to win in these Duel Maps is
to attack the other player with your helper characters. Each helper can perform
a certain amount of damage from the opponent, and they have a certain amount of
damage they can take before being defeated. Here, I'll list information on each
helper along with information on each one.

Koopa Troopa
    Comes with: Mario
    Attack: 1
    Stamina: 2
    Salary: 1 Coin per turn

Goomba
    Comes with: Luigi
    Attack: 2
    Stamina: 1
    Salary: 2 Coins per turn

Toad
    Comes with: Peach
    Attack: 1
    Stamina: 1
    Salary: 1 Coin per turn
Advantages: When you land on a space with the opponent's mark on it, you
won't have to pay any Coins.

Bob-omb
    Comes with: Wario
    Attack: 1
    Stamina: 1
    Salary: 2 Coins per turn
Disadvantages: When it attacks, it'll self-destruct after attacking.

Boo
    Comes with: Yoshi
    Attack: 2
    Stamina: 1
    Salary: 3 Coins per turn
Advantages: When attacked, the attacks go right through it, so it can't
                get hurt by attacks.
Disadvantages: When attacked, the attack will go right through Big Boo and
                   hurt your character.

Whomp
    Comes with: Donkey Kong
    Attack: 0
    Stamina: 4
    Salary: 3 Coins per turn
Disadvantages: Since it has no attack power, it can't attack the opponent,
but its high defense makes up for that.

Snifit
    Comes with: Daisy
    Attack: 2
    Stamina: 2
    Salary: 5 Coins per turn
Advantages: At the beginning of each turn, it'll give your character a few
                extra Coins.

Piranha Plant
    Comes With: Waluigi
    Attack: 3
    Stamina: 1
    Salary: 5 Coins per turn
Advantages: It sometimes makes an extra die appear, allowing you to roll
to move even more spaces in one turn.

Chomp
    Comes with: N/A
    Attack: 1
    Stamina: 2
    Salary: 6 Coins per turn
Advantages: When it attacks, it attacks both the helper between it and the
opponent, as well as the opponent, taking the same amount of
                power from each.

Thwomp
