Version 4.0
pokeeiyuu overload!!!!! ^_^ This guy is just brimful of useful information
for this game!! Hehe, not only has he helped me learn more about the game..
But I've come to the conclusion that I really, REALLY like this game!
Changed a few things, corrected a few more mistakes added loads and now
credited pokeeiyuu on the proper fashion. ^_^
And to think.. there's STILL more to be added!!! O_o Watch this space!

06/08/01
Version 3.0
Added a load more thanks to pokeeiyuu! Remembered to put in the PiyoPiyoDan

certain move as my version was sucky. Hehe.
There's may be one more update, as pokeeiyuu's bombarded me with so much
information!! ^_^ I'll organise it the best I can and update ASAP!

05/08/01
Version 2.0
Amended a mistake to Guiledart's Moveslist, and added a BUCKETFULL of extra
stuff that was given to me by pokeeiyuu. Also found two new secrets after
playing around on Tatakae! Beast. ^_^

29/06/01
Version 1.0
First Created.. well, more like started.. but couldn't be bothered to submit
it. I got lazy. =P But, submit it I did!

<INTRO>
///////

So.. according to a quite a few Old-School Transformers fans that I've
talked to, Beast Wars sucked like nothing has ever sucked before. Well, I
didn't mind it (Then again, I'm no Hardcore TF fan by any means). I came
across this little game and thought "Hmm.. it's Beast Wars.. but it's on
the GBC and it's done by Takara" So, after remembering that I like
Takara's "Nettou" KOF adaptations on the GameBoy, I decided to pick it up.
Happy was I, when I found out that this game rules!!

\\\\\\\
<SETUP>

*PASUWA-DO* <Password>

As the passwords are all in Japanese, I've decided to try something a little
different. If you point your browser to:-

http://www.galford.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/beastwars.gif

You will see the Passwords in Japanese for you to seek out and destroy. =)
I've labeled just what password relates to where on this FAQ, so there
Shouldn't be a problem finding them!
I've also put in the Romaji for the codes, for the people that can read
hiragana....

used whilst transformed.
You have 3 functions that can be used whilst veiwing. They are:

Take one of the the characters into battle. Each character has their own
attributes (i.e different speeds and different weapons/firing rates).
If you manage to take out everyone of the enemies before you get to the boss
character (Large Bacteria) then you can take on the Black Bacteria for extra
points to add to your total!

pokeeiyuu says:-
For the Black Bacteria in Tatakae!, you can't take him out as far as I know.
I've pumped at least 30 plus shots into him for 3 points per shot and he'll
still run away after you finish scrolling to the boss area.

You get the password for this after you beat the high score of Hashire!
Beast.
When unlocked, can be selected from the OMAKE menu.

You're given this code by Starscream in Setsumei 7 (Explanation 7) within

**Access CODE 10 to see password**
(Romaji for code: OShiRi / Translation: Buttocks)

(Romaji for code: TaKaRa )

 - Extra Character: All Modes. (Star Upper)
After you meet (and beat) Star Upper in the Single Game, you'll be awarded

At this time, I'm unsure of the requirements to fight against him. All I
know is that I went through MUSUKASHII <Hard> mode, and finished everyone
with either a SUPER move or a DESPERATION.
**Access CODE 12 to see password**
(Romaji for code: GeSuTo / Translation: Guest )

 - Extra Character: All Modes. (Artemis/Moon)
After you meet (and beat) Artemis/Moon in the Single Game, you'll be awarded

(Romaji for code: TeMiSu / Translation: Temis [As in, ArTEMIS] )

pokeeiyuu says:-
You only need to enter the Star Upper and Artemis passwords on one Gameboy
if you're playing head to head. The passwords for the extra fighters are
transferred so that each player has the same array of fighters to use.

<QUICK DRAW> (Hayauchi)
////////////

The basic premise behind the quick draw is that you pick a character and have
a 'Gunslinging Quick Draw Showdown'. Well.. That's about all I can make out
from what I can see on it. Pick your character and try to faze out the other
character before you take them out with one hit. Every character has
different rates of 'Drawing', with Artemis having the fastest and Megatron
being the slowest.

The button system is different to the main game:

D-Pad: Not used
A Button: Quick Draw (Shoot)
B Button: Taunt Enemy

If anyone happens to understand this mode, drop me a line and I'll credit you
with fame and fortune (Well, ok.. I'll TRY to anyway.. =P ).

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
<LEGEND/SYSTEM>
///////////////

F = Forward
B = Backward
U = Up
D = Down

F, F = Dash Forwards
B, B = Hop Backwards

A = Punch
B = Kick
(Tap the button for a Weak Attack, Press and hold for a Heavy Attack)

SELECT = Transform
AB+SELECT = Taunt
START = Pause

AB = Press buttons together
D+AB = BP Meter Charge

*JUMPING* -
Like most Takara fighting games, there are a few methods of jumping.

 - SHORT HOP
Tap U/UF/UB for a short hop. The distance isn't great, but it does the job.

 - DASH HOP
Dash Forwards (F, F) then tap U for a long, yet low Hop across the screen.

 - SHORT JUMP
Press U/UF/UB for a fairly high, but fairly short jump.

 - DASH JUMP
Dash Forwards then press U for a high and long jump.

 - LEAP JUMP
Press Down for a second then press UF for a standing Leap.

 - TRIANGLE JUMP
All beast forms can triangle jump (i.e. jump off the wall).
Simply transform to Beast Mode (This will not work for Galvatron and
Megastorm as they are Machines) jump to the side of the screen and hold U and
the opposite direction in which you first started to travel and you'll get it.

*THROWING* - (Up close, F+Any Attack)
Throws are executed with either button pressed while pressing forward at
point blank. So everyone has both kick and punch throws in both forms.
Throws using the Kick button usually toss them behind, while Throws
using the Punch button usually throw them forwards.

*BP* Meter -
When your BP meter is full you have two options.

 - Hold AB, then press Up (When BP meter is Full) = Hyper Charge Mode.
Holding AB then pressing Up will enter you into Hyper Charge Mode. Your
strength will increase and certain special moves will gain extentions,
usually adding a few hits here and there.

 - *SUPER Move* = D, F, D, B+B Button
Otherwise known as a (Chou Hissatsuwaza) <Super Certain Kill Technique>,
or just 'Super Moves'. Hehe. These attacks are extremely powerful and can
decide a round if connected. When executed, the screen flashes with the
Characters Faction Insignia (Cyberbot or Destron) then they'll commit to the
technique. Every character has two SUPERs, one for each transformed mode.
(Note: When your energy drops into the RED bar, then you may use as many
SUPER moves as you like.)

*Desperation* = D, B, D, F+A Button
When your energy is on the final bar of health (Red) and your BP Meter is
full, then you can use the ultra powerful Desperation Attack. Every
character has one, but only in ROBOT MODE. If you perform the Desperation
Attack whilst transformed, you'll have a nasty pause (In which you can get
your butt handed to you in) as they transform back to perform to move.
(I've now found the official names for them.. hidden away in the depths of
the game.. ^_^)

*PiyoPiyoDan* <Cheeping Bullet? O_o> = D, D+B
This technique is only available to your robot mode. Upon executing this
move your character reels back a little as they fire out a ball of energy
that sparkles wildly as it slowly travels across the screen. If it connects
with the opponent, they'll be froze for a short while allowing you to kick
their butt into the stratosphere! ^_^
In the single player mode you get 3 of these per battle, whilst in the team
mode you only get 3 for the entire thing.
You can see just how many you have due to a small indicator just under your
energy bar to the far left of the screen. There should be 3 'bullet' things.
Those, are your PiyoPiyoDan's.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
<CHARACTERS AND MOVES>
//////////////////////

The Cybertrons are on the left of the character select screen, and the
Destrons are on the right. The list below starts at the top and goes down
in order (Cybertrons first, Destrons afterwards). (The two hidden
characters are listed last though).

\\\\\\\\////////
>> CYBERTRONS <<
////////\\\\\\\\

<<LIO CONVOY>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Morphing Raid
Lio Convoy dashes forward in a blaze of energy as he transforms. Blasting
past the opponent several times he juggles them upwards. Upon landing he
charges an almighty blast that he sends skyward, and directly at the foe.

GalFord says:-
The Soul Impact is a decent 'ranbu' style super attack that has a good range
on it as he launches forward with a Lio Tooth to start the Super. Upon
connection he blazes into a nice 20+ hit combo finishing with a Lio Tempest
that drags them upward for a nice ender.

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Lio Shot: D, F+B
Lio Tooth: D, B+B
Lio Tempest: F, D, F+B
Lio Typhoon: B, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Soul Impact

>> BEAST MODE: Lion <<

Lio Tornado: D, B+B
Lio Cannon: F, D, F+B
Sky Cannon: Jump, then D, B+B
Lio Throw: B, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Planet Burst

<<SCUBA>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Scuba Dance '99
Scuba rushes at the opponent with a piercing attack. Upon connecting, he just
stands back and watches the enemy freak out dancing for a little while before
merely stating '...' before he attacks the helpless foe with two mighty
attacks!

pokeeiyuu says:-
Scuba's Desperation takes 16 seconds after initiation for Scuba to finally
say that their dancing is bad and hit them for big damage. It does have to
its credit an instantaneous startup and making a dancing fool of your
opponent. I've actually lost research matches with Scuba when I initiated
this too late in the round.

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Scubawhip: F, D, F+B
Electric Shock: B repeatedly
Scubathrust: B, D, F+B
Surumeran: D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Vulcan Rush

>> BEAST MODE: Squid <<

Scuba Smog: D, F+B
Scuba Dive: F, D, F+B
Tail Whip: D, B+B
Scuba Spiral: B, D, F+A

*SUPER* Move:
Kraken Knock

<<CHEETAS>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Koredemo Kurae!!
This has got to contend for the slowest move in the game!! Cheetas stands
there and taunts the opponent as a cord slowly drops down from the top of the
screen. He then pulls the rope and the oppoent is battered by a load of
bombs. But this move is.. soooooo slow. Try to hit with a PiyoPiyoDan AND
be at the other side of the screen when you pull this off. Oh.. and have a
fair bit of time on the clock as well due to the time it takes.

pokeeiyuu says:-
Cheetas' 'Last Resort' strangely uses a slightly longer draw so that there's
a near second lag 'til firing. But the draw does hit if you're at point blank
and will force the rest of the autocombo.

Cheetas' Koredemo Kurae!! takes 3-4 seconds after initiating to begin
inflicting damage. However, after that time has elapsed the damage keeps
coming until 13 seconds after initiation. He can be hit out of it really easy
though during those first 3-4 seconds. I didn't test if he could be hit out
of it when the bombs are droppping. But the answer to slowness? PiyoPiyoDan!
(just like every other slow damager)

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Sniper Shot (Stright): D, F+B
Sniper Shot (Anti-Air): D, B+B
Sniper Shot (Mid-Air): Jump, then D, F+B
Rolling Assault: D, B+A

*SUPER* Move:
Last Resort

>> BEAST MODE: Cheetah <<

Passing Sand: D, F+B
Phantom Arrow: D, B+B
Surprise Throw: F, D, F+B
Surprise Attack: F, D, F+A

*SUPER* Move:
Delta End

<<CONVOY>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = God Ascension
Convoy charges up for a second then slides forward with one of the hardest
hitting single-palmed attacks you've ever seen! I'm not really that sure,
but I don't think it's blockable. The damage is immense, but it can be seen
quite easily so it's not that cheap.

pokeeiyuu says:-
Convoy's God Ascension is unblockable. (Well, that clears that one up!!)

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Cyber Blade: F, D, F+B
Plasma Cannon: D, F+B
Giga Attack: B, D, F+A
Convoy Driver: B, D, F+B (Must be done up close)

*SUPER* Move:
Zetsu Convoy Driver (Must be done up close)

>> BEAST MODE: Gorilla <<

Hammer Knuckle: D, F+B
Counter Hammer: D, B+A
Megaton Hammer: F, D, F+B
Megaton Slam: B, D, F+B (Must be done up close)

*SUPER* Move:
Gigaton Bomb (Must be done up close)

\\\\\\\///////
>> DESTRONS <<
///////\\\\\\\

<<GALVATRON>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Infinity Ray
Galvatron runs forward and barges the opponent into the back wall, he then
leaps off screen and a HUGE Dinosaur head drops in and toasts the foe with
a massive beam attack!

pokeeiyuu says:-
Galvatron's "Gaia Crash" Super. This baby takes between one to two seconds
after he's hit his opponent to start drilling into him.

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Twister Axe: D, F+B
Death Ascension: F, D, F+B
Cross Revenge (up): D, B+A
Cross Revenge (down): D, B+B
Soul Drain: When close B, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Chaos Pressure

>> MACHINE MODE: Mole Tank <<

*NOTE* In this mode Galvatron cannot jump, nor block. Although he does have
some kind of improved defence, kind of like the Super Armor from Capcom's
Versus series games.

Murderer Vulcan: D, F+B
Gaia Tornado: F, D, F+A
Kill Needle: D, B+B
Crush Drill: B, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Gaia Crash

<<MEGASTORM>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Final Operation
Kinda like the start up to his Knuckle Bazooka. He skims forwards and knocks
the opponent off of their feet, then he throws a grenade/mine down that erupts
and sends the victim and Megastorm flying!
When this connects, Megastorm's energy drops to 2 points, whilst the foes
drops to one. Kinda like Dan Hibiki's rather sucky Otoko Michi. ^_^

pokeeiyuu says:-
Megastorm's super "Megaton Bomb" lag is dependent on where your opponent is
as he will always throw it to the upper corner in front of him where it will
bounce downwards. It'll usually hit though after throwing, unless maybe
they're in beast mode and triangle jump madly.
Megastorm's Tank form Super "Assault Ray" also has a delay time. After
initiating, it takes 2 seconds to get the beam to fall. And if your opponent
dashes out of the way at exactly the right time, they can dodge (just like
every other super) and it has a major recovery if it misses (just like almost
every other super)
Megastorm has a one to two second lag before he does his Final Operation.
But he can kill with it as he inflicts an unnecessary amount of damage before
taking himself and his opponent down.

>> ROBOT MODE <<

F. Mine: D, F+B
Critical Hammer: D, B+B
Spark Cannon: B, D, F+B
Knuckle Bazooka: F, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Megaton Bomb

>> MACHINE MODE: Tank <<

*NOTE* In this mode Megastorm cannot jump, nor block. Although he does have
some kind of improved defence, kind of like the Super Armor from Capcom's
Versus series games.

Maximum Shoot: D, F+B
Sting Mine: D, B+A
Cyclone Cannon: B, D, F+B
Storm Bash: B, D, F+A

*SUPER* Move:
Assault Ray

<<MEGATRON>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Destruction Ray
Megatron drives a piercing attack with his tail that slams them into the far
wall. He then leaps back to the other side and executes a large beam attack
from his Tyranno head!

pokeeiyuu says:-
Megatron has a one second delay before beginning the thrust of his desperation
after the flashing of the insignia. And his fireballs have a huge delay in
bot form, making his "Laser Buster" slow at between one and two seconds of
delay before the first shot comes out, same as his normal fireball.

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Buster Shot: D, F+B
Tail Thrust: B, D, F+A
Evil Impact: F, D, B+A
Evil Slash: F, D, F+B

*SUPER* Move:
Laser Buster

>> BEAST MODE: Tyrannosaurus Rex <<

Tyranno Breath: D, F+B
Megaton Press: F, D, F+B
Tyranno Revenge: D, B+A
Tyranno Stomp: F, D, F+A

*SUPER* Move:
Night Raid

<<GUILEDART>>

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Changing Drain
Guiledart rushes at the foe. If this connects he'll hit twice and teleport
through them. After it connects, Guiledart switches energy bars with the
opponent. Don't do this against an enemy that has less health that you
already!!

pokeeiyuu says:-
Guiledart's Triceratops form Super "Black Hole Cluster" takes 4 seconds to
start damaging after firing and uses his normal projectile animation to fire
it off. But once it's fired, it'll do damage even if Guiledart is hit. I've
never been able to avoid it when it's been fired. It is a Black Hole after
all...

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Erst Knock: B, D, F+B
Shivaite Press: B, D, F+A
Doriddo Blow: F, D, F+B
F. Reflector: D, B+B

>>HIDDEN CHARACTERS<<
////////// \\\\\\\\\\

<<STAR UPPER>> **Cybertron Hidden Character**

**Access CODE 12 to see password**
(Romaji for code: GeSuTo )

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Gekiretsu Star Upper
Yay for Ranbu-style attacks! Star Upper skids forwards them goes into an
impressive 20+hit super combo with some nice juggling uppercuts! ^_^

GalFord says:-
Star Upper's Robot Version of the Star Upper Kai slides forward after a half-
second delay and connects for a decent amount of damage.
However, the Beast Mode's version of the Star Upper Kai is a GREAT move as it
ducks under most attacks as it rolls into them.

The Gekirestu Star Upper has got to be one of my favourite Desperations. But
then again.. I've always had a soft spot for 'Ranbu' style supers. As soon
as you commit to the move he'll start dashing forward to connect with the
attack. It can rip most characters out of their attacks before they get to
hit Star Upper with them. ^_^

>> ROBOT MODE <<

Magnum Blow: D, F+B

*DESPERATION ATTACK* = Moon Kyaribaa
Be careful about using this.. it's slow to start. Artemis flings out what
looks like a PiyoPiyoDan, but soon after she's launched it she whacks it up
to the top of the screen where it becomes a rather large Moon-shaped disc of
Death that bounces around the screen in an erratic way.

pokeeiyuu says:-
Artemis Desperation takes three seconds for the moon to become damaging as it
floats upward, but it lasts for quite a while (three bounces I think) and won't
abandon her after initiation, which is quick. The moon knocks down the opponent
and stuns them to keep them there for a while too. The initiation doesn't hit
though. But you can do other things as it's floating around like keeping them
under the bounce or inflicting even more damage. No projectiles though.
Pity, I really wanted to see a "Rapid Rabbit" at the same time... But the
"Artemion Hammer" works. =)
Moon's "Rapid Rabbit" Super takes 2 seconds of him swinging his arm before
the bunny brigade arrives. It does knock down if you're close to your opponent
though and then the first bunny lifts him on his feet to take the rest.

TAKARA = For creating this little gem of a game.

www.GameFAQS.com = Where all my FAQs can be found.

pokeeiyuu = For giving me lots of passwords I didn't have, info that I
forgot.. News about the Desperations, the code for the Weird Gorilla Ass
Dancing that made me chuckle far too loudly when I saw it.. etc. For
correcting my lame-assed translations.. for reminding me (And not beating me
over the head 'cos I forgot it AGAIN!) about the PiyoPiyoDan.
And just lots of general help that made this lil' FAQ into something good!
Thanks!
