








                 The TRANS\ directory contains the 99/4A source code for
            the TRANS program (which the FORTH ROM transfers to the
            99/4A).

                 The way to compile the program is very convoluted.  I
            usually use the Borland C++ IDE to edit the *.TI files,
            which are 99/4A source files.  Then, the project "compiles"
            by running TXT2ASM to convert each of the files into a V9t9
            DV/80 file.  The last command runs the batch file
            DOEMUL.BAT.

                 DOEMUL.BAT is broken, obviously, since neither the
            configuration files nor the module ROMs are in this archive.
            The basic point is that it will run V9t9 with
            Editor/Assembler as the only module, for efficiency's sake.

                 Once the emulator is going, I run E/A and compile the
            TRANS program with the "2) Assemble" option.  The source
            file is DSK2.TRANSS, the object is DSK2.TRANS, the list file
            (if any) is DSK2.TRANSE, and the options are RC(LS).

                 Then, a nice Ctrl+Break stops the emulator after
            assembly, and the TRANSE file is converted into TRANS.ERR so
            I can correct errors.

                 Sheesh!  I know what you're thinking.  I could have
            just used the same assembler I used to write FORTH with.
            But I didn't, since I wanted to have an object code file,
            and not a binary.  Anyway, this is how I did it.
