CHAPTER 1-The Meager

Hardest Battles to Easiest:

Lenalia Plateau
Zeklaus Desert
Dorter Slums
Fort Zeakden
Windmill Shed
Thieves Fort
Sweegy Woods
Gariland Magic City
Mandalia Plains
Orbonne Monastery

Battle Guide:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE #1-Orbonne Monastery Outside
Difficulty-Easy
Objective-Defeat all enemies

This battle is weird because all you basically have to do is attack. You can
only move Ramza, all the others will move and attack themselves. Just be
careful not to die. Gafgarion will heal himself using his Night Sword absorb
spell, and Agrias uses another attack spell. The other 3 knights (Alicia,
Lavian, and Rad) might die, but they cant turn into a crystal since they
are help units. The knight Lezales will cause the most damage, but will be
hard to take out first. Kill off the archers, then the chemist, and finally
the knight.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE #2-Gariland Magic City
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Easy

If you basically got everything, then this battle will be a breeze. I didnt
know much about tactics (this was my first tactics game) so I had to beat
this battle with ONLY Ramza and Delita! It was very hard. Anyway, go right
after the squire in front of you. Be careful of the chemist since he will
heal the wounded people. Two of your guys should go to the right side and
get rid of the squires there. Once you get rid of all the squires, go after
the chemist. He will continually try to heal himself but will run out of
potions. Attack him and you beat the battle!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE #3-Mandalia Plains
Objective-Defeat all enemies or Save Algus
Difficulty-Easy

If you choose the second option, you will have to Save Algus. That means,
that if he dies, its game over. It will be hard since Algus will want to
attack. Reset if he misses on his first try (thats just rigged). You cant
control him as he will sometimes act crazy and get into a spot vulnerable to
most of the squires and thieves. 2 of your knights should go to the left,
hoping to take out the thief and the panther. Make sure no one in your party
turns into a crystal. If they do, just reset. Make sure to have a chemist
also, and have the others be squires (you dont have the right equipment for
a knight yet). Delita will go into a offensive position and always attack,
so get some potions ready for him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
BATTLE #4-Sweegy Woods
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Easy/Medium

Harder than before. Make sure to have at least 2 knights and an archer for
this battle. Kill the bombs with your crossbows or Charge Attacks (remember,
if someone is blocking your target, and you shoot with a crossbow, youll
hit the blocker instead). The bombs will use explode, which could kill you
(up to 40HP damage) and combining that with the goblins attack, that might
kill or injure a character badly. The good thing is that bombs will die
after exploding automatically, but you still dont want a taste of it. After
killing the bombs go and kill the Black Goblins, then the panthers, and
finally the goblins. Make sure to have some antidotes for the panthers
poison!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #5-Dorter Slums
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Hard

The first real battle in the game. Its very hard. Algus and Delita will
climb the building next to you swiftly to take out the lone archer up there
(if they are knights, they wont go too far). The most troubling thing about
this battle is the wizards that cast spells like fire. They will usually
cast it on a unit (it takes them awhile to charge the spell up), so its
best to move that unit near an enemy (preferably the wizard) and they will
hurt the enemy too, note that it does about 25HP damage, and the knight can
kill you with his 40HP damage attack. Make sure to have a few Phoenix Downs.
5 of these enemies will be a threat, the archer on the ground doesnt have a
bow equipped, therefore he can only attack and do about 5HP, hes the 6th no
threater. Take out the 2 wizards immediately like I told you, then go after
the knight, he has a whopping 87HP and a high evade rate. Its best to
surround him with your knights and Ramza and kill him. Then go after the
archers, and finally the fist archer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #6-Rat Cellar
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Harder!

This battle is the hardest one so far, mainly because of the crappy terrain.
The entrance to the house will be blocked by a dead Algus (yes, he will die
quickly, standing in the entrance), so its best to put your archers and
wizards on the 2nd team. There are no wizards here thankfully, but the monks
will be a problem, they have high luck, and will continually spin around
doing about 30HP up to 4 people. Kill them and enter the second entrance.
Make sure NO ONE DIES ON THAT ENTRANCE or you wont be able to get in, if
you dont have archers, or wizards, then its nearly impossible to win cause
the enemy archers will be shooting at you from the other side and you cant
get in (especially if Delita and Algus die at the entrance, they will never
turn into crystals). If you have a good mover, youll be able to get
through. There are 3 knights here, much alike the one knight from the
previous battle. So try to use ranged attacks on them and try not to get too
close to them. After beating this battle, youll be halfway through Chapter
1!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #7-Thieves Fort
Objective-Defeat Miluda
Difficulty-Medium

The battles objective seems simple: Defeat Miluda. Its not so simple.
Miluda has a whopping 130HP and is heavily guarded by thieves. The thieves
will try to steal from you, so kill them off first with ranged attacks. If
you try to hurt Miluda at the beginning of the battle, the priests will heal
her. I lost two of my best guys here(they fought for their life), but I beat
it. When Miluda starts going toward you, and the priests are down, go right
after her with your strongest knights and use your wizard and archer wisely.
Since shes a knight, shell have a high evade rate. Use the dead enemy
units crystals, as they will help you. Make sure to not have Miluda get
them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #8-Lenalia Plateau
Objective-Defeat Miluda
Difficulty-Very Hard

This battle is the hardest in Chapter 1. Miluda has 2 knights, 2 wizards,
and the most annoying Time Mage. They are a pain, always casting Slow on
your party and casting Haste on them and Miluda. Delita will go kill
himself, while your archers should focus on the time mage. If you happen to
kill it, the wizards will start casting Heavy Duty spells on you. Take your
best knights and go right after Miluda, MAKE SURE TO DO THIS AFTER KILLING
THE TIME MAGE. Also, make sure that those knights have the best equipment
available, because Miluda will hit 60+ HP! Kill the wizards with your bows
(I think theres supposed to be a good 2-handed bow available now), and if
your knights fail to kill Miluda, use archers. The 2 knights dont have a
high MOVE rating, so itll be a breeze to kill them with your wizard. If
they manage to get close to you, move Ramza or someone else there and try
killing them, or revive Delita (although hell go to a frenzy).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #9-Windmill Shed
Objective-Defeat Wiegraf
Difficulty-Medium

Now its time to fight the bad-ass of Chapter 1. The battle isnt so hard,
as itll take 2 turns for Wiegraf to get to you. Delita will kill the monk,
but probably be killed by Wiegrafs powerful Crush Punch (it can do about
75HP of damage, or automatic death), the chocobo and the monk on the bottom
also wont be a threat, as itll take a while for them to work their way
down to you. And best of all, Boco the chocobos attacks wont hurt you a
lot. I suggest to pay more attention to Wiegraf than the enemies. All you
have to do is get Wiegrafs HP to less than 40, and hell retreat, and
youll beat the battle. Dont bunch up your characters, as Wiegraf has
Stasis Sword, which can hurt them if theyre bunched. Focus everything on
Wiegraf and only Wiegraf until he dies.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #10-Fort Zeakden
Objective-Defeat Algus
Difficulty-Medium/Hard

Wiegrafs trusted knight will protect Teta from trying to get killed by
Algus. But Algus kills Delitas sister with his new crossbow, and shoots the
knight. The knight will attempt to crawl into the fort and blow up the whole
place, and does. At this point, youll fight Algus. He has the Auto Potion
ability which sometimes heals 30HP to him automatically when you attack him.
Delita will go right after Algus, and you should do that too. He has about
135HP, and a good way to kill him is use your wizards fire attack. His
forces, 5 knights and 2 wizards, are a pain, so go after Algus and kill him
quickly. The more you wait, the more people will die, as 3 of his knights
will go right after a lone unit of yours and kill him. The 2 wizards behind
him will cast annoying spells. Algus himself will shoot you with his
crossbow doing about 35HP. Your second team should include the weaker units
since they are surrounded by the barrier and the fort. Move them up and kill
the 2 knights there, then try to quickly move them to Algus. Overall, this
is a tough battle, but if you just go right after Algus, youll kill him.

CHAPTER 2-The Manipulator and the Subservient

List of battles, from hardest to easiest:
-Golgorand Execution Site
-Lionel Gate
-Inside Lionel
-Bariaus Hill
-Zaland Fort City
-Goug Machine City
-Bariaus Valley
-Dorter Trade City
-Swamp(forgot name)
-Zirekile Falls
-Araguay Woods

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #11-Dorter Trade City
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Easy/Medium

You MIGHT lose some people here, but reset if you do. The wizards in the
back will be a pain, so try to move out of the way (they are too far away
from your archers and wizards). Gafgarion and Agrias will go to the front
straight off, eliminating everyone in their way. Kill the archers and the
thief too. I dont have much to say about this battle since it was pretty
easy(its nearly impossible to have Gafgarion or Agrias die). I left most of
my units in the back where they start and had my ranged units go after the
enemy. The enemy AI here sucks, as they will constantly try to attack you,
with no running or anything. You can watch the show: Agrias and Gafgarion vs
a bunch of hoodlums!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #12-Araguay Woods
Objective-Defeat all enemies or Save Boco, the Chocobo
Difficulty-Easy

If you do not choose I dont have time for this, then your goal is to not
let Boco die. Wiegraf abandoned it here! Its easy both ways, and if you
choose to Save Boco, your brave points will go up. The AI, again, is
horrible. The Black Goblin will go after Boco in the top right corner and
attack him while Boco uses Choco Cure on himself, then he will attack.
Agrias and Gafgarion will move left and attack the goblins there. Its a
very easy battle, just like one of the regulars. You will get Boco after
this, it will lay eggs, and sometime youll get a Red Chocobo (they are SO
good, I got one in the middle of Chapter 2 and used it for the rest of the
game in my battle team).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #13-Zirekile Falls
Objective-Save Princess Ovelia
Difficulty-Easy

NOTE-Before going here, un-equip ALL of Gafgarions stuff and equip it on
your other units. Its a little trick that is good cause it will boosts your
HP and MP. Why did you need to do this? Because Gafgarion is betraying you
here.

There are new guest units Ovelia and Delita here. Gafgarion will betray you
and cast his old spells on you absorbing your HP UNLESS YOU UNEQUIPPED ALL
HIS WEAPONS AND ARMOR. That way, hell only have about 80HP and doing only
about 15HP with his punches. He cant cast anything without his weapon! Move
you archers and wizard up front and in 2 turns youll be able to cast spells
and shoot the knights moving toward you. Ovelia will protect herself, thus
casting a super spell that will make her have Mbarrier, Barrier, Regen,
Haste, and Angel. Then shell move away. The battle is soooooo easy with
Delita since he does a lot of damage to the knights on the right side of the
falls. Remember, take care of Gafgarion first, when his HP goes below of
his HP, hell retreat.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #14-Zaland Fort City
Objective-Save Mustadio
Difficulty-Very Hard

Since you only have one guest, Agrias, its time they added a new one. In
this battle, you need to protect a new guest, Mustadio, who will definitely
get himself in trouble. Why did Squaresoft come up with such crappy Guest
AI? Mustadio will always be vulnerable to the knights below him. The worst
thing about this battle is the wall in the middle, and ONE small entrance!
Remember Rats Cellar? Dont let people die in that entrance, especially
Agrias! Make sure to have a chemist or priest or some sort of healer for
this battle, and while some of the knights will be coming on your side, you
can sneak in the city and rid the wizards and archers hanging around there
while Agrias and Mustadio will be taking care of the knights on the outside.
This is one of those TOUGH battles in the game, it took me 5 tries (cause
they kept on killing Mustadio).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #15-Bariaus Hill
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-SUPER HARD

This battle is very hard even though you got no one to protect. The two
Summoners on the corners of the bottoms will be a real pain, although they
wont do anything for the first turn. They cast spells such as Shiva(60HP
damage), Moogle(heals about 40HP), and Ramuh(90HP damage). They dont have
so much HP, and Mustadio can take care of the one on the left(although he
will try to paralyze it with his Arm Aim). Send a character down the right
hill and get rid of that Summoner. If you have a wizard or archer, try to
kill of the summoners with them. The knights have strong attacks, and even
Agrias can die here. Make sure to have a strong healer handy. And have a few
knights. Another annoying thing is the archers here, which will usually use
Charge and pierce you with their arrows. So leave off you chemist in healing
here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #16-Zigolis Swamp
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Easy/Medium

This battle focuses more on monsters, such as the ghouls. If you step into
the swamp, at the end of the turn, youll be poisoned. Use ranged units and
stay in the beginning till all the ghouls are killed. The ghouls will
teleport to you in attack you (they can move almost anywhere). Note that you
can kill them with a Phoenix Down, but in a few turns they will be revived.
After taking care of all the undead ghosts, (Mustadio will use Seal Evil),
take care of the remaining enemies which are easy to defeat. The con about
this battle is the annoying poison.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #17-Goug Machine City Slums
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Medium

Mustadio will die quickly in this battle(50HP, no equipment) and its best
not to waste a Phoenix Down to revive him. Get a chemist here and have
him/her stay in the back throwing healers to anyone who gets injured. Take
care of the 2 summoners QUICKLY before they cast any spells to heal. The
archers here are a big threat, so kill them quickly. Use another party to
get rid of the thieves before they steal or confuse you. Be sure to have an
archer for this battle!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #18-Bariaus Valley
Objective-Save Agrias
Difficulty-Medium

The knights here have VERY HIGH evade, so its best to bring some wizards
here. Agrias wont die, trust me. She will cast Steady and Stasis Swords on
the enemies which does enough damage. On your 2nd team, you should have
Mustadio and a chemist equipped with a Romanda Gun. Use the chemists range
to shoot the wizard and archer on that side. And Mustadio should do that
too. After killing the right enemy team, have Mustadio and the chemist
travel to the left and help Ramzas party. Make sure to have an accessible
priest, the cure spells are good!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #19-Golgorand Execution Site
Objective-Defeat ALL enemies
Difficulty-2nd Hardest in the game!

Remember Battle #19, because it will be the worst battle in the whole game.
Level up to level 30 before accessing it. The time mages are SO annoying, as
they have Stop, which CAN kill you by not making you move and letting the
knights get to you easily. Gafgarions equipment is new, and hell dish out
high damage and absorb it to him with his Night Sword. The battle is nearly
impossible, this I how I had my units:

Ramza(Knight) LV30-Move him to the knights and kill them.
Agrias(Holy Knight) LV31-She is in the 2nd Squad, use her skills to get rid
of the Time Mages above.
Mustadio(Engineer) LV29-In the first squad, he should shoot the enemies.
Lavian(Knight) LV31-In the 2nd squad. Move her to the archers and Gafgarion.
Norris(Chemist) LV30-Use him to shoot with guns and heal units.

Still, the battle is EXTREMELY tough that requires a lot of level-upping
before. The knights can do over 100HP damage. And the annoying archers do
over 50HP. Make sure to have the best armor and weapon, and kill Gafgarion
second or third, that will make him retreat. Aims barely works on him, but
if they do, thats good. Bunch up your characters around him and attack him.
I beat this damn battle with Ramza having 14HP left and one knight. If you
lose a unit here, RESET. Oh yeah, and be patient. Your 2nd squad is the goal
in killing the 2 time mages up top.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #20-At the Gate of Lionel Castle
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Very Hard

This battle is tough because its very small. Ramza and Gafgarion will duel
it inside the gate, while all your characters will be in the scrunched up
area on the outside. Bring a Summoner here, and cast GOLEM quickly. Ramza
should quickly move to the switch near the gate and the gate will
automatically open. Agrias and another knight should take out the remaining
knights, but quickly get rid of the enemy Summoner, or hell cast some
powerful spells on you. The archers have Steal Heart and Steal Weapon/Armor,
so take note of that. Mustadio should move toward the gate and shoot
Gafgarion with Arm Aim, so he wouldnt use Night Sword to absorb your HPs.
Overall, the battle DOES require some level-upping, but its not as hard as
Golgorand Execution Site.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #21-Inside Lionel Castle
Objective-Defeat Queklain
Difficulty-Very Hard

The battle is one of the hardest yet. Queklain casts Nightmare, which either
puts your characters to sleep or Death Sentence. This battle was VERY fast
paced to me. Queklain is by himself, but very hard. Be sure to spread out
your characters before the battle. And if anyone dies in this, just reset.
Mustadio should move away and shoot. Arm or Leg Aims never worked here, nor
Seal Evil. Have a Summoner cast spells like Titan or Golem. Also, bring an
archer or Ninja with two swords. If you have one of those, youll be able to
kill Queklain in a few shots. Queklain has a hefty 476HP, but cant attack
(just Nightmare), in fact, I think he is able to attack, but he never
attacked me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 3-The Valiant

List from Hardest Battles to Easiest-

-Roof of Riovanes
-Within Riovanes
-Yardow Fort City
-Undg. Book Storage 1st Floor
-Undg. Book Storage 2nd Floor
-Undg. Book Storage 3rd floor
-Grog Hill
-At the gate of Riovanes Castle
-Yuguo Woods
-Lesalia Back Exit
-Goland Coal City

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #22-Goland Coal City
Objective-Save Olan
Difficulty-Easy

Olan does Galaxy Stop, which does stuff to enemies like Dont Move, Dont
Act, and Stop, it does all this to every enemy, its also LOUD! But might
miss. Bring a Chemist and help out Olan. Use your other guys to take out the
thieves, or they will use Steal Heart on your characters which confuses
them. After taking care of them take out the remaining enemies, and
including the Mediator (which is easy). Make sure not to let Olan die, or
you will lose.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #23-Lesalia Back Exit
Objective-Defeat Zalmo
Difficulty-Easy/Medium

Alma will use that same spell that Ovelia used is Zirekile Falls on Ramza.
Then she will cast it on herself and run. Your best bet is to bring only
ranged units here and have them take out the annoying High Evade knights
before they get close. The monks arent a problem, and Zalmo will be getting
close to you (he can heal, and will for every move he does). After he moves
a little closer, get your knights out quickly and get to him, then kill him.
Its not a tough task (He has about 207HP), so get moving! This will be your
last easy battle in Chapter 3.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #24-Underground Book Storage Second Floor
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Hard

*NOTE*
Before going here, Un-equip all of Almas stuff like the Barrette and give
it to Agrias. Itll boost her statuses.

The battle is tough. There are Lancers here, and they will jump on you. If
you move out of the way before they land (if you have a turn after they go
up), then they will miss. The thing you should be careful of most is the
Chemists, cause they will heal the Lancers. The lancers jab from behind
will cause upwards 120HP, so you should have a good defense. Bring a ranged
unit like a Ninja to throw stuff at the chemists, and let your knights whack
the life out of the lancers. Then youll be able to take the remaining
forces out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #25-Underground Book Storage Third Floor
Objective-Defeat Izlude
Difficulty-Medium/Hard

There is a trick to beating this battle. Go after Izlude quickly and hope to
end the level before all the knights get to you. Izlude is a lancer, so he
can jump on you. ALL your units should quickly go after him. Dont pay
attention on killing the knights, cause they have high evade and thatll
just make it worse. Bring a gunner like Mustadio here to take care of
Izlude. I havent been playing the game much so I forgot about this battle.
Izlude has about 320HP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #26-Underground Book Storage First Floor
Objective-Defeat Wiegraf
Difficulty-Medium/Hard

This guy is still alive? The key to beating him is to hide your Summoners in
the corners and wait for him to come. Then cast spells on him while hell
try to take out one or two of your people with his Lightning Stab. After
casting his spell, go after him with your best knights and archers and kill
him. Dont kill anyone else, as it;ll just waste time. He has about 400HP,
so beware.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #27-Grog Hill
Objective-Defeat all enemies
Difficulty-Very Hard

The battle looks easy, but its not. The squires will definitely tear out
some damage, while the thieves can be a pain also. But the worst comes from
the chemists, who not only revive dead units, but shoot you with guns that
causes about 90HP damage. First and foremost, go after the thief near you
and kill her before she uses Steal Heart. Then climb the steps and defeat
the squires, which will take some work. If the chemists revive somebody,
kill him/her immediately before the other chemist uses an X-Potion on
him/her. Once you get rid of the squires and thief, have two or three units
stay and puppy guard the dead enemies in case they get revived. While your
other crew should go after the chemists hoping to kill them. Keep in mind
that the chemist CAN revive the other chemist, making the battle tougher. If
things go awry and the chemists revive too much units, then just reset.
After the battle, Olan will come and talk to you, whereas you will continue
your journey to Riovanes Castle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #28-Yardow Fort City
Objective-Save Rafa
Difficulty-Hardest so far

This battle is harder than it looks. Rafa is an idiot and will cast her
spell once, then run. I found this battle easy by bringing two experienced
Red Chocobos and flying over to Malak, then attacking him. Two Choco Meteors
will make him retreat, so do that. The ninjas will start making their way
toward you, and they will take up to 170HP damage with their Shurikens. Kill
them quickly and then fly your chocobos over and greet the Summoners with
Choco Meteor before they cast anything bad. Use X-Potions in this battle by
bringing a Chemist and having him move around healing anyone whos hurt.
Make sure your best Red Chocobo doesnt die, if he/she does, reset. Make
sure to bring your own Summoner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Battle #29-Yuguo Woods
Objective-Defeat All enemies
Difficulty-Medium

Another undead battle, but pretty easy. All you do is use Mustadios Seal
Evil and there you go! Phoenix Downs work fine on the units, theyre all
undead. The time mages are annoying, but the wizards arent. Keep in mind
that they will be revived in 3 turns, instead of dying, so be careful.
Attack as normal.
