Basic Info

In EX Edition, the way you play the game is somewhat different from the other
versions of the game. You select your primary character, and are then given a
choice between Partner Characters and Special Characters. Partner Characters
allows you to choose a second character for Team Hyper Combos. Special
Character allows you to choose one of the "minor" characters for infinite uses,
and infinite automatic use during a Duo Team Attack.

So, for example, if I were to choose Ryu as a Partner Character and perform a
Team Hyper Combo (Down, Down-Forward, Forward, Strong Punch+Strong Kick), Ryu
would jump onscreen to fire his super move, then immediately jump offscreen
once the move was completed.

If I were to choose a Special Partner, say Cyclops, I could summon him an
infinite number of times per round by pressing Medium Punch+Medium Kick. If I
did a Duo Team Attack (Down, Down-Back, Back, Strong Punch+Strong Kick), he
would automatically keep appearing to fire his beam, and then immediately leave
until time ran out.

The exception to these two rules is Cross Over mode, which allows you to switch
between two characters at will and summon Special Partners a limited number of
times. The only catch is that you must have the same two normal characters.

Character Info

Gold War Machine is basically a watered-down version of War Machine. His
attacks are very similar, but he performs very differently. He cannot block, he
moves very slowly, he does not get stunned from attacks, and his laser attacks
are all replaced with missiles. The only real way to win with him is to use
your Strong Attacks and Hyper Combos at every chance. A far cry from War
Machine.

Entrance: Flies in on his jetpack, jumps down to the ground, jetpack flies
away.

Switch in: Holds one arm in the air and says "Yahoo!"

Switch out: Presses a button on his wrist and says "Go, Buddy!"

Victory pose: Holds one arm in the air and says "Piece of cake!"

Taunt: Presses a button on his wrist.

Special Moves

Solar Cannon
Down, Down-Forward, Forward, Punch

War Machine announces "Solar Cannon!" and a missile out of his shoulder-mounted
gun. Unlike War Machine's variation, which launches a laser that hits several
times, this one only hits once. A low Solar Cannon can be done by using the
Kick button instead of Punch.

Smart Bomb
Medium Punch+Weak Kick

War Machine shouts "Smart Bomb!" and fires two explosives out of his shoulder
cannons, which arc downwards and explode on impact. They do a good amount of
damage, and you can rain them down on the opponent from the air.

Short Beam
Down+Strong Punch

War Machine fires a short ranged energy beam. Moderately powerful.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hyper Combos

Proton Cannon
Down, Down-Forward, Forward, 2 Punches

War Machine announces "Here's my sunday best!!!" (I know it doesn't make sense,
but that's what it sounds like...), and a large cannon appears and drops onto
his shoulder, at which point he announces "Proton...Cannon!" and fires several
missiles from his cannon. These fly out and rapidly strike opponents. While not
as effective as War Machine's variation, it can still be rather useful if you
can knock your opponent back from the cannon falling. Its the most effective
against large characters, too, as they will be hit by the most missiles.

War Destroyer
Down, Down-Forward, Forward, 2 Kicks

War Machine announces "Geronimo!" as a large missile launcher appears on his
back. He then announces "War Destroyer!" and launches several missiles into the
air, which rain down on the opponent. However, it can be avoided if your
opponent suddenly jumps out of the way by tapping Back or Forward twice
quickly. However, if your opponent is in the air above you, this attack does
double damage by hitting them once on the way up, and again on the way down.
Especially effective against Onslaught :)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Victory Quotes

"Not Iron Man...War Machine!"
"A few adjustments and my armor's as good as new!"
"More than man, more than machine!"
"Repulsors primed and ready for action!"

Ending

A screen appers with Gold War Machine in his victory pose, and a message that
says "Congratulations, you won with a secret character!" That's it.

Character Strategy

Captain America

Captain America is rather strong and agile, but he is quite tall, meaning you
can often hit him as you leap into the air. Just be aware that you can't block
his attacks, meaning that his Stars and Stripes and Charging Star attacks can
potentially hit several times. Keep him busy with a constant barrage of Proton
Cannon and kick attacks.

Captain Commando

Captain Commando is another agile character. His quick Captain Fire and Captain
Corridor make him a lethal opponent, and the fact that you can't move fast
enough to avoid his summoned characters usually means that he'll pound you if
you don't keep him at bay. Attack from a distance with Solar and Proton Cannon.

Chun Li

Chun Li's Lightning Kicks move is especially devastating since you can't block
it, and her Kikou-Shou is particularly nasty at close range. Hit her hard with
Strong Punches and Kicks.

Hulk

Hulk is on about the same level as GWM, except without nearly as much armor.
You can pretty much use the same strategy he uses- powerful punches and kicks
to fill his super bar, then a Hyper Combo to finish the round. Just beware of
his Gamma Crush- it does major damage and is hard to avoid, and since you can't
block...

Gambit

Another agile character. He'll be your downfall if he gets off Royal Flush, so
don't let up an assault of strong attacks and Proton Cannons to ensure that he
won't. Man, I wish GWM could block...

Jin

A slow but strong character, like Hulk, only a little faster. His Great Cyclone
is your bane, because you can't block it and it does a ridiculous amount of
damage. Dash backwards as fast as you can (go from a snail's pace to a turtle's
pace!) to avoid it, jump the Blodia Punches, and nail him with some Hypers of
your own.

Mega Man

Damn these speedy characters! Argh! They're GWM's worst nightmare, and there's
so many of them! Anyway, Mega Man is generally a lot weaker than you with the
exception of his Hyper Combos, so nail him with Strong attacks (only GWM's
Strong attacks are worth anything, if you haven't figured that already), and
use the Proton Cannon liberally.

Morrigan

DarkStalkers' equivalent to Ryu is ultra-deadly due to her evil Soul Eraser. It
has a wide range, hits tons of times, and takes off a crapload of damage if you
don't block it (needless to say, you can't). Anyway, avoid her attacks as best
you can, and use your strongest attacks.

Ryu

Ryu is fairly slow, but his projectiles and spinning kick attacks are your main
concern, not his speed. Jump and dash your way over, give him a few nice kicks
and punches, and let loose with the Proton Cannon at every chance.

Spider Man

Another fast character! Argh! But since his attacks are rather weak and his
"capture" moves don't work on you, you have the advantage. Just sloth your way
up to him and nail him, then let loose with the Proton or War Destroyer.

Strider Hiryu

Strider's flashy air attacks are your chance to attack. Try to knock him into
the air with a pop-up attack, then follow up with the War Destroyer. If you
can't do that, just use the Proton as soon as he gets in range.

Venom

Slow but powerful sums up Venom. Since you are immune to Web Throw and Venom
Web, you have a small advantage. The same general Gold War Machine strategy
works otherwise.

War Machine

Urrrgh. Combos, combos, combos. His main projectile hits up to seven times, and
his Proton Cannon is nearly unavoidable to GWM. This will probably be your
toughest opponent. Try to use your Proton Cannon right before he does to cut
him off, and if he flies above you use the War Destroyer.

Wolverine

Small, fast character again. I think they made them like this on purpose, just
to give GWM a hard time. Anyway, try to leap his Berserker Barrage and Drill
Claw attacks, and retaliate with a low laser beam or War Destroyer/Proton
Cannon.

Zangief

He's actually fairly easy on his own, seeing as how nearly all of his Grabs and
Hypers can't touch you, and his Iron Body (or Evil Zangief, if you prefer)
makes him even easier. Strong attacks and Proton Cannon/War Destroyer all the
way.

Red Venom

Not another speed character! Argh! Anyway, your best bet would be to use a
strong attack to bat him away, followed up by a Solar Cannon or Proton. His
charging bite can hit you multiple times if it connects, so duck if you see him
coming at you.

Red Hulk

A faster Hulk without the Armor? It's almost too good to be true! The general
GWM strategy is very effective here.

Gold War Machine

This is going to turn into a war of strong attacks and Hypers, so you want to
be on the giving end rather than the recieving end. If you see him about to let
loose with a Proton Cannon or Solar Cannon, duck down to avoid it.

Roll

Heh. This is so easy it's almost funny. The same general GWM strategy makes
short work of Roll.

Shadow Lady

Big Bang Laser, Galaxy Missile, and Drill Arm are your worst enemies here.
Plus, she still has that evil Lightning Kicks move. Launch a Proton or War
Destroyer when you get enough power to do so. Team Supers will also do a major
amount of damage.

Lilith

She's a lot like Morrigan, except without that deadly Soul Eraser. Same GWM
strategy.

Onslaught

Now THIS guy is TOUGH. In his first form, you'll want to stick to the same
general strategy, avoiding his moves to the best of your ability. This is
easier said than done with the evil Magnetic Tempest and Magnetic Shockwave.
However, you can duck his eye laser and leap the Sentinel. Destroy his Hyper
Grab and bomb-dropping Sentinels with Solar Cannon fire.

In his second form, your main weapon is the War Destroyer. Get under his head
and use it liberally. When he launches his "Mighty Hand," try to jump it and
hit him in the head with a punch.
