I. Eric Bischoff's Bio and Costumes
-----------------------------------

Name: Eric Bischoff
Short Name: Bischoff
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 180 lbs.

Eric Bischoff, whose titles have ranged from Executive
Vice President of WCW and the NWO to President of the nWo,
continues to be one of the most controversial figures in
wrestling and the most successful head of World Championship
Wrestling in the organization's history.
He served as broadcaster for WCW programming since
around 1993, and was head announcer for WCW Monday Nitro
since its debut. As the head of WCW, Bischoff was one of
the first targets of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash upon their
entrances in WCW. He was challenged by Hall upon the
wrestler's first appearance, and was called a "Ken doll,"
among other things by Hall. At the Great American Bash
pay-per-view, Hall and Nash challenged Bischoff to get
three wrestlers for a match at the 1996 Bash at the Beach
card, and Bischoff refused to tell the duo who the men
would be.
After Bischoff's refusal, Hall punched Bischoff in the
stomach and Nash powerbombed Bischoff through the stage. It
was this incident, Bischoff would later admit, which caused
him to join the NWO. Bischoff showed his true colors on a
WCW Monday Nitro broadcast in late-1996. After that, Bischoff
began to rule over WCW with an iron fist. As an example of
this, Bischoff stripped the Steiner Brothers of the WCW Tag
Team titles after their win over the Outsiders at the first
NWO Souled Out.
He also fired referees Randy Anderson and Jimmy Jett,
and refused to let Lex Luger compete at Superbrawl VII.
Luger wrestled anyway, and Bischoff again awarded the
Outsiders the tag belts after their Superbrawl loss to Luger
and the Giant. After these actions, Eric Bischoff was
suspended by Dr. Harvey Schiller, head of Turner Sports.
Bischoff and Hollywood Hogan claimed the suspension wouldn't
stick as the two were personal friends of Ted Turner, though
in terms of storylines, Bischoff has never regained the power
he once had.
At WCW's Spring Stampede pay-per-view in 1997, Bischoff
seemed to show a merciful side as he urged Randy Savage to
stop his assault against Kimberly Page, wife of Diamond Dallas
Page. Instead, Bischoff was pushed down by Savage and was
struck by Savage as Bischoff tried to retaliate. Though Bischoff
and Savage later called a truce, this incident marked one of
the first seeds of dissention within the NWO. As NWO member
Scott Hall became involved in a verbal feud with Larry Zbyszko,
Hall claimed that Zbyszko "couldn't even beat Easy-E," setting
up a match between Bischoff and Zybszko at Starrcade 1997.
Furthermore, if Bischoff won the match, it was determined that
the NWO would take over Monday Nitro. Though Bischoff attempted
to cheat during the match, special guest referee Bret Hart saw
Bischoff strike Zbyszko with a loaded boot and attacked Hall
who was at ringside, putting him in the Sharpshooter. The match
was awarded to Zbyszko by disqualification. With his in-ring
career seemingly over, Bischoff continued his support of Hollywood
Hogan and the NWO and continued to always appear at Hogan's
side.
Dissention in the NWO once again showed itself during a
January 1998 Monday Nitro broadcast involving Bischoff and
Savage, where during an argument between Savage and Hogan,
Savage picked up a chair and threatened to hit Hogan with it.
As Bischoff attempted to stop Savage, Savage struck Bischoff
and was in turn attacked by Kevin Nash. Strangely enough, it
would be Savage and Nash who would later team up to form the
"Wolfpac," to fight again Hogan's leadership of the NWO.
Meanwhile, Bischoff remained firmly at Hogan's side.
Furthermore, Bischoff interestingly began a cross-promotional
on-air feud with WWF head Vince McMahon after the WWF began
sending DeGeneration-X to WCW facilities (D-X consists of
WWF wrestlers Hunter Hearst Helmsley, the New Age Outlaws,
Chyna, and Sean Waltman, formerly Syxx of the NWO). Shockingly,
Bischoff challenged McMahon to a match at Slamboree '98 as a
means to settle their differences once and for all. McMahon
refused to participate in the WCW event of course, and Bischoff
replied by calling McMahon a coward and having the "match"
anyway at the PPV, where McMahon was counted out and Bischoff
was declared the winner.
