MONSTER RANCHER 3 CD/DVD LIST
For play on Sony PlayStation 2
Presented by BoredGamer/Dagganoth
Last Updated : 10/19/01
Version: 1.1

I guess I should note this now. I didn't exactly put it in a very
convenient spot on my FAQ, but I'm not accepting outside information on
any CD's or DVD's. I only put FAQs here that are tested by myself or
Dagganoth. I don't mean to anger anyone with this decision. I will
make exceptions for the following cases:

??? Breed Monsters
Anything listed as "Unknown"
CD's/DVD's that Dagg and I have in common with what is sent
Alternate, unlabeled CD/DVD versions (i.e. different progamming as in
ICP- Riddlebox and Matchbox 20- Yourself or Someone Like You)

THE FOLLOWING SITES ARE GIVEN HOSTING PRIVILEDGE:
GameFAQs (www.gamefaqs.com)
PlayStation Cheat.net (www.psxcodez.com)

The E-mail Dealy...
Okay, I have two different E-mail addresses that I'd prefer you use for
different purposes.

If you are e-mailing me about feedback, questions, or anything having to
do with any FAQ, please send it to Blublublublu1129@cs.com.

If, however, you are e-mailing me on something that does not concern a
FAQ, e-mail me at Liverboyjoe179@cs.com.

If any e-mail is sent to Blublublublu1129 that does not concern a FAQ,
it will be deleted/ignored. Please try to refrain from sending FAQ
information, etc. to Liverboyjoe179.

With this FAQ, you will still have to wait on consent as I will also
have to get Dagganoth's consent to allow this to be posted anywhere. If
you do get any authorization to borrow any information on this FAQ, do
make sure you give BoredGamer and Dagganoth proper credit.

This FAQ will be an ongoing project, and therefore will not have a
"phase." As I continue to get more CD's, DVD's, games, etc., I will add
more here. Probably the bulkiest sections will be the PlayStation Discs
and the Music CD's as I have over 70 PSX games (quite a number of which
are muliple discs) and over 300 Music CD's (a few of which are also
multiple discs). Also take into account that Dagganoth has agreed to e-
mail me some findings as he also has some PSX, Music CD's, and even a
good number of PC games.

thang. I've gotten worse for my Escape from Camp Deadly review. Should
be expecting a nice, big list from Dagganoth soon. I also found that
there are multiple versions of Insane Clown Posse- Riddlebox out there,
one that gives a regular Momo and one that gives a Kiki. I also added
some stuff to the FAQ section. Sorry for such a minor update, but I
have studying to do for my Psychology test tomorrow.

10/18/01- Dagganoth caught the misspellings of the words "Kalaragi" and
"Brillia." Also got some stuff from someone called Jackal. I decided to
grandfather in some stuff since I pulled a no-no and didn't put a
disclaimer where it would be easier and more convenient to read.

/ SECTION 1: INTRODUCTION \
-----------------------------

1A: WELCOME TO MONSTER RANCHER 3

Thanks to a large craze of monster raising games in Japan, America saw a
large number of monster raising simulators. The first the US got a
taste of actually wasn't Pokemon, but Monster Rancher. While Pokemon's
marketing scheme was "Gotta Catch 'em All!," the main idea behind
Monster Rancher was not to "catch them all." Rather, in Monster
Rancher, you were to find the monster that best suits your style of
gaming and raise that monster, giving it definite strengths that will
make up for obvious weaknesses. You had to make your monster strong
enough to become a grand champion monster. Sure, you could unlock new
ones along the way and play those as well, but the emphasis still wasn't
so much on catching as many as possible.

Monster Rancher's initial launch and success in the US designated it a
"cult classic" game. Shortly after its release was Monster Rancher 2
announced. MR2 came out quite silently. In fact, most people didn't
even know it had hit shelves until a few weeks to a month after it's US
release. The game also had very good success, leading to some spin-off
games (only two hitting US shores: Monster Rancher Battle Cards Episode
2 and Monster Rancher Hop-About). Finally, Tecmo annoucned a Monster
Rancher 3 for PS2.

The initial screens for this game drew some mixed emotions with me. I
didn't know what to think of a cel shaded MR game. After getting the
game as an early birthday present, I can honestly say that this game
does carry the same dignity the first two did quite well. I see this
one as a decent improvement such that the unbalanced difficulty in MR2
was finally balanced out so the little difficulty is where it counts;
Put on battling and on slight aspects of raising and finding new attacks
and items. I also found this one a lot less frustrating than the second
one, which keeps you on your toes trying to keep this monster from going
too spoiled or too nasty.

1B: DIFFERENT MONSTERS AND BREEDS

I do not have every monster type listed below, but I eventually hope to
have them all within time. I do not accept names for Rumored Monsters
or Breeds, so please don't send them (like the "Leviathan" that
circulated around the internet when MR2 hit stores).

-Monsters-
(in no particular order; these are the ones I've come across)
Suezo- Eye creatures. Usually very intelligent.
Mocchi- Shelled creatures that walk on two legs. Usually well rounded.
Golem- Huge, rock creatures. Usually very powerful, but also very slow.
Colorpandora- Three composite creatures that make one monster.
Suzurin- Little, faery-like creatures.
Ogyo- Creatures that look like flying fish.
Raiden- Looks like a humanoid pteranodon.
Mogi- A dog-like creature with a beany.
Momo- A squirrel-like creature.
Mew- Looks like a cat doll.
Jell- A jellatenous creature. Usually pretty good defensively, but not
always very powerful.
Tiger- Swift, dog-like creatures (also have some cat-like
characteristics).
Joker- Cloaked creatures with a scythe.
Gitan- Strange, bunny-like creatures that have claws on their ears and
tail.
Hare- A rabbit creature that's usually very fast and powerful, but not
very defensive.
Baku- Huge, hippo-like creatures.
Psiroller- A strange creature mounted on a wheel.
Octopee- Looks like a cross between a dog and an octopus.
Beaklon- A huge, stag beetle.
Zoom- Looks like a dinosaur.
Hengar- Robotic creatures.
Dakkung- Formerly known as Duckin. It's a wooden, duck toy.
Naga- Snake creatures. Usually very powerful, but also very stupid.
Dragon- Chaotic, reptilian monsters that love to fight.
Pixie- A breed that looks like a winged woman. Usually proficient in
magical attacks, but not very powerful and also quite selfish.
Plant- A plant creature. Doesn't look the same as it did before. Now
it's got a body with a mouth in it and a leaf that sticks out of the top
instead of three heads. Usually has high life.
Pancho- A small creature that uses a pumpkin as a shell of sorts. High
defense.
Durahan- An enchanted suit of armor. Quite slow and not very
intelligent, but it makes up for that in power.
Zan- I'm not sure exactly what this is. I just keep hearing about it.

There are a few not listed here, but they will be added when I get a
better understanding of them.

-Breeds-
Morx- Symbolized with a big tree. Creatures that typically live in the
forest.
Kalaragi- Symbolized with a tropical tree. Creatures that typically
live in the jungle.
Takrama- Symbolized with a cactus and a bone. Creatures that typically
live in the desert.
Goat- Symbolized with a sea shell. Creatures that typically live in the
sea on on beaches.
Brillia- Symbolized with a formation of ice. Creatures that typically
live in the arctic reagion.
???- Symbolized with ?. Special creatures that have no specific living
quarters.

  -------------------------------------
/ SECTION 2: DIFFERENT KINDS OF DISCS \
-----------------------------------------

Each disc has a different category. Also note that discs can differ
through time. A Matrix DVD you buy now may not contain the same data
and the same monster as a Matrix DVD with other features or ones that
come later. The same can be said for video games and music CD's. For
instance, there was two different versions of the Matchbox 20 CD,
"Yourself or Someone Like You," that had different monsters on Monster
Rancher 1.

PlayStation Discs- Discs that can be played exclusively on Sony
PlayStation and PlayStation 2. This includes games, demos, and special
features (such as "Making of Lunar," etc.). Greatest Hits will be
denoted.

PlayStation 2 Discs- Discs that can be played exclusively on Sony
PlayStation 2. Also has the same stipulations as the previous as far as
games, demos, and special features.

Dreamcast Discs- Discs that can be played exclusively on Sega Dreamcast.
This does include games, demos, and special features as well.

Music CD's- Any CD's that contain music or interviews of musicians (of
which I currently own none and don't wish to purchase any, but if I have
a chance to test them, I will and you'll know about it). This is broken
down into two categories: Artist Specific and Soundtracks and
Compilations. Anything that has a particular artist assigned to the CD
would be classified under the former. The latter, on the other hand, is
mostly anything that has various artists or no clear particular artist.
Extra notes will be made if need be (i.e. remastered). My main
selection in my CD collection is rock, but you will find a little more
than just rock CD's in it.

DVD's- Anything that was specifically made for a DVD. Special titles
will be included as there can be many different DVD version of one movie
(just look up "Night of the Living Dead" on Amazon to see what I mean).

PC Games- Any games formated only for PC. This will include only games
and demos.

Misc. Discs- Anything that didn't fit the categories above. This will
mostly contain Multimedia CD's or anything for PC that isn't technically
a game.

  ------------------------------
/ SECTION 3: PLAYSTATION DISCS \
----------------------------------

These are games playable on PlayStation. Any music CD's that came with
games (i.e. Lunar 2 soundtrack) can be found in the Music CD Section
under Soundtracks and Compilations.

  -----------------
/ SECTION 10: FAQ \
---------------------

Q: What is the name for Natural breeds (i.e. Regular Mocchi, etc.)
A: There is no set breed to denote a "natural." It differs from monster
to monster. For example, a natural Mocchi is a Tyro Breed, whereas a
natural Jell is a Goat Breed.

Q: Can I send you any information?
A: Nope, only on discs I own, please. I wouldn't appreciate someone
playing a prank and sending me misinformation. If you see one above
that is listed as "Unknown," please fill me in and you will get credit.
The only other person that I will trust with personally untested
material is Dagganoth.

Q: Why don't you have [insert name here] on the list?
A: I only add discs I have personally tested.

Q: Is it true you added some CD's that neither you nor Dagganoth tested
personally?
A: Now, why would I tell people not to send me information as far as
CD's to illiminate misinformation, then just go and take someone else's
info? Makes no logical sense, does it? The only ones I actually accept
without testing are any that contain ??? breeds.

Q: Why don't you have discs for AOL and CompuServe promotional CD's?
A: Those get a bit confusing. That and it's not like you can really get
a hold of those very easily.

Q: What is a ??? Breed?
A: It's a special, unidentitified breed in the game. You come across
those occasionly. I call them "rare" monsters.

Q: Can you send me the name of a disc that gives me [insert monster name
here] with good stats?
A: No, look for yourself.

Q: Is it okay if I borrow some from your FAQ and add a few to mine?
A: Please write me if you wish to borrow all (or a major bulk) of the
info on this FAQ. If it's just a few (as I designate, below 20 tested
discs), then just add the info. In either case, Dagganoth and myself,
BoredGamer, would request credit.

Q: Will there ever be any new categories (i.e. Sega Saturn, etc)?
A: There could be in the future, but it doesn't look too likely. The
likelihood of me coming across and buying a Sega Saturn or any other
older CD-based systems and some games for it is very low.

Q: What about Xbox?
A: It may not be too likely considering that neither myself nor
Dagganoth are getting getting an Xbox. However, if I happen to be in
the position to test Xbox games, I will keep them posted.

Q: What version of Hellbilly Deluxe is listed and how can you tell the
edited and unedited versions apart?
A: I have the unedited version, which has a "Parental Advisory." Also,
there are some things that are taken out of the edited version's cover,
such as the mark on Rob's forehead.

Q: On the Twiztid CD, Mostasteless, there is a note that says, "National
version." What does this mean?
A: There are two version of Mostasteless, one that was released
nationwide and one that is rare and I think was only released in
Detroit.

Q: Your listed self-titled Slipknot CD says "second version." What is
the difference in versions?
A: For one, each version has songs that are specific to only that
version. There is also a difference in case and cover arts. The first
one doesn't have the band's name at the top middle of the album cover.
The second version does. Finally, there's the third verison which was
not released in a crsytal case, but a more cardboard one. It also had
some extra live tracks and demos on it. All in all, this does make a
difference as the programing on each CD is different.

Q: Why do some CD's have different versions?
A: Some are reprogammed and resold on the market. It's almost like a
different model of a game system. There's various different versions of
many different CD's, some of which have no noticable difference, but do
have a difference in programming such as Insane Clown Posse- Riddlebox
and Matchbox 20- Yourself or Someone Like You. The same can also be
said for remastered CD's and "Greatest Hits" PSX games.
