Do not copy anything, you lazy bastards. If you would like
to use something from this FAQ then give me at least partial
credit for it. This includes using my format (not just from
this FAQ). I'm not responsible for anything that may go wrong
as a result of this FAQ. Do whatever you want with it, just
as long as my name is attatched.

INTRODUCTION

This guide is intended to teach players how to use Vega at
least effectively in CvS. I'll be quite honest with you, I
don't use Vega too often. But maybe you can learn a little
something from what little I do know. Anyway, Vega has two
simple purposes in this game. To poke, and to hit and run.
His roll is slow, and not as useful as it should be, but
he is a fast character with good priority. He's got a
couple of good combos, but you shouldn't try them without
practicing first. I'm kind of annoyed that no one else has
written an FAQ for him. I'll update later if I feel like
it. Hopefully this FAQ will motiviate someone to write a
better one.

=====================================================================================
[1] BASIC ATTACKS
=====================================================================================
__________________
STANDING ATTACKS  \_________________________

LP - An insanely prioritized Jab.
Use it to poke with, or to Start
combos.
[****-]

HP - A lunging punch with HUGE
range, and good priority. Comes
out kind of slow. Use to poke
with from a couple of steps away.
[****-]

LK - A knee to the abdomen. The
priority sucks, and so does the
range. Use to start combos, or
as an Ultra-Close Range poke.
[***--]

HK - A jumping Ax kick. Comes
out slow, and you will be pun-
ished if you throw it out at
random.
[**---]

Forward + HK - Vega jumps for-
ward and performs a spinning
heel kick. This move is slow,
weak, and useless.
[*----]

JUMPING ATTACKS   \_________________________

LP - A jumping version of the
Jab.
[*----]

HP - A downward poke with the
claw. Use to jump-in, or a-
gainst  an opponent that is
airborne at the same time you
are.
[****-]

LK - A downward kick with decent
range and decieving priority.
The jumping HP is better.
[**---]

HK - A downward kick. The range
sucks, and the priority is only
average.
[**---]

CROUCHING ATTACKS \_________________________

LP - The crouching version of
the Jab.
[****-]

MP - A lunching poke with good
range. Hold Down + HP to get
it to come out.
- Normal only
[*****]

HP - A lunging poke with good
range. Aims at the upper body
area.
[***--]

LK - A quick kick that hits
low. Use to poke with at Ul-
tra Close range.
[***--]

MK - A slightly slower more
damaging version of the LK.
Hold Down + HK to get it to
come out.
- EX only
[****-]

HK - A sliding kick that hits
low. Use only to capitalize
on opponent's  recovery.

THROWS            \_________________________

Punch Throw - <-, or -> + HP
(when grounded or airborne)

Kick Throw - <-, or -> + HK
(when grounded or airborne)

=====================================================================================
[2] SPECIAL ATTACKS
=====================================================================================
________________________
Rolling Crystal Flash   \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Back, then Forward + LP, or HP

A multiple-hitting roll attack. Best used
in combos.
[**---]

________________________
Sky High Claw           \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down, Up + LP, or HP
          After Jumping From the Wall
          LP, or HP

This easy to avoid move is useless. Maybe
you could get lucky and you can catch your
opponent off guard :P.
[*----]

________________________
Flying Barcelona Attack \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down, Up + LK, or HK
          After Jumping From the Wall
          LP, or HP

The recovery on this move is ridiculous. Even
worse than Yamazaki's taunt and counter. All
this move does is open's Vega up for an attack.
[*----]

________________________
Izuna Drop              \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down, Up + LK, or HK
          After Jumping From the Wall
          Any other direction than up
          + LP, or HP
          Near the opponent.

Basically the same as the Flying Barcelona
Attack.
[*----]

________________________
Scarlet Terror          \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down/Back, Forward + LK, or HK

Vega's version of Guile's Flashkick. Use
as an Antiair.
[***--]

________________________
Back Slash              \_____________________________

Press: HP, + LP

Vega quickly does 2 back flips, and is in-
vincible during this time. Use this when
you need to get out of something in a
hurry.
[***--]

_________________________
Quick Back Slash         \_____________________________

Press: HK, + LK

Vega quickly does 1 back flip, and is in-
vincible during this time. Use this when
you need to get out of something in a
hurry, but need to recover quickly.
Think of is as rolling backwards.
[****-]

=====================================================================================
[3] DESPARATION ATTACKS
=====================================================================================
__________________________
Flying Barcelona Special  \______________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down/Back, Down/Forward, Down/Back,
         Up/Fowrard + LK, or HK After Jumping From
         wall LP, or HP

The hyper combo version of the flying
Barcelona Attack.
[*----]

__________________________
Rolling Izuna Drop        \_____________________________

Motion: (Charge) Down/Back, Down/Forward, Down/Back,
          Up/Forward, + LK, or HK
          After jumping from wall other direction
          than Up + LP, or HP near opponent

The hyper combo version of the Izuna drop.
Another useless move.
[*----]

__________________________
Scarlet Mirage            \___________________________

Motion: (Charge) Back, Forward, Back,
         Down/Forward + LK, or HK.

The hyper combo version of Scarlet Terror.
Use only to capitalize on your opponent's
recovery. I'm not sure if it's comboable.
[**---]

__________________________
Red Impact                \___________________________

Motion: (Charge) Back, Forward, Back,
         Down/Forward + LP, or HP.
         At Level 3.

Vega slashes out with his claw. If it
connects, Vega grabs the opponent and
throws them into the air. When they
land, Vega uses his Claw to stab them
in the back, before they have a chance
to hit the ground. Use to capitalize on
your opponent's recovery, or to counter
a physical attack from a few steps away.
[****-]

=====================================================================================
[4] PARTNERING UP VEGA
=====================================================================================

Vega should always go last. Use your ratio 1 to get you
charged for a Red Impact, and to weaken the team a little.

These are the only characters that you can pair with Vega
in CvS. Take your pick:

+-------------+
BENIMARU
+-------------+
BLANKA
+-------------+
CAMMY
+-------------+
DHALSIM
+-------------+
KING
+-------------+
SAKURA
+-------------+
VICE
+-------------+
YURI
+-------------+

=====================================================================================
[5] GENERAL STRATEGIES
=====================================================================================

To play Vega most effectively, play a mix-up game. Vega relies
on his speed, and his claw to find the most success, so be sure
to use them to your advantage.

__________
Defense   \_____________________________________

Hit and run, it's that simple. Vega is possibly
the fastest character in this game, and he has
a wall jump, AND the ability to roll backwards
(sort of). If you need a rest, then take a
couple of seconds off, pop out a Scarlet Terror,
or a punch attack of some sort, then get back
to it. Here's a couple of tips:

- The Quick Back Slash is excellent for avoid-
   ing grapplers.

- Jump around a lot. Take avantage of the wall
   jump, and the super jump. They help Vega to
   run from his opponent.

- Go for Red Impact. The damage it does is like
   the Shin Shoryuken. Keep in mind that Vega is
   not invincible during the start up, but the
   priority is pretty good.

__________
Offense   \_____________________________________

Take advantage of the claw. The claw gives Vega
better reach and priority. It plays a big roll
in helping him poke. Anyways:

- Use the LP, and LK in close battles. The MP
   in midrange battles, and the HP in Long
   range battles.

- Never use the HK unless you're sure it will
   connect.

- If you've had some practice, then try combo-
   ing, stuff like Scarlet Terror, and Rolling
   Crystal Flash after light attacks.

=====================================================================================
[6] VS VEGA STRATEGY
=====================================================================================

Roll a lot, and look for openings in his defense to attack.
All of his air-borne specials can be countered with either
a roll, or an Anti-Air. If he jumps in nail him with an
anti-air, or roll under him to throw. Also, take advantage
of his slow roll.
